quite honest with you, Rob, Not just that Kelvin you know,
through me get into the ocean without a life, fast
about facing it for the show started, That's one.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Thing, Yes, But I'm really, really really.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Ticked off at Travis Kelce right now, are you yes?
Because he knows that this is a very popular show.
He knows that America tunes in every night seven pm
Eastern to listen to the golden tones of Rob Parker
and that glorious New York accent. And he decided, I'm
gonna drop this Taylor Swift podcast at seven pm Eastern. Rob,
(03:24):
we're huge in the swifty community.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
To split up.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Our audience like that, I think we'll be just flawless
and immature, just fine.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
And the people who want to hear the Odd Couple
will listen, and the other people want to hear that.
That's why I enjoy it. Okay, we'll miss that.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
It felt personal to me.
Speaker 1 (03:43):

Right sort of. I'll show you here the whole night.
I'll be here until Covin's back. Okay, And Manzi is
at the anchor desk. She'll keep us updated. And of course, uh,
Elijah with well, we gotta we gotta hear from him
(04:23):
because he's sitting in the room with us today, right, Elijah.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Heard of them?
Speaker 1 (04:27):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
I mean, in all fairness, he's sitting in the corner.
No he is, he's not even facing but he's he's
got work to do.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Let me see, he doesn't have a dunce cap on it,
so all he's not in the corner for any reason.
But Elijah, you're good, all right, You're gonna have some fun,
exciting radio to do now, and you know, pump up
those social media stuff and numbers and all that will
be good.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
That's right now. I mentioned Travis Kelsey tongue in cheek
only a little bit. I met half of what I said.
But that's not the only reason he's in the news,
rob because in addition to this Taylor Swift album rollout
that he's a part for whatever reason here. On Wednesday,
he also did a in depth feature with GQ magazine,
(05:12):
and in it he discussed why he had what is
inarguably the worst season of an NFL career last year
since his rookie year, his eight hundred and twenty three
receiving yards three touchdowns in twenty twenty four, lowest since
his rookie season when he only played one game. So
it just tells you how bad it was for Kelsey.
(05:35):
And in the article with GQ, Kelsey explained the fall off.
Here's what he said, quote. I think it might have
slipped a little bit because I did have a little
bit more focus in trying to set myself up. Opportunities
came up where I was excited to venture into a
new world of acting being an entertainer. I don't say
this as I should have done it. I'm saying it
that my work ethic is such that I have so
(05:56):
much pride in how I do things that I never
want the product to fall off, and I feel like
these past two years haven't been to my standard.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well, thanks for joining the party, Travis kelce because we
already knew that you're not telling us anything new. He
just said it out loud. Everybody else has been saying it.
Travis kelcey, is this on do us a favor? How
about just retire now? Don't even go into the season,
(06:25):
because what we saw from you last year was shameful.
It was nothing worse than that play that you've been
seeing all over the internet right on social media from
the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes running for his life trying
to figure something out, and there's Travis Kelcey in the
middle of the field counting the attendance. That's what he
(06:48):
was doing. Can you run open? Can you try to
help your quarterback out?
Speaker 2 (06:55):
We get it.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
You got a big time girlfriend, yes, you understand. Go
on tour with her, be a roadie because your career
has eroded. Uh, last year was awful. Rob g three touchdowns,
(07:16):
all full and everybody saw it. He's not into it.
He's not the same guy. And it's not just age.
I get it. And he's older. This is focus. When
everybody talks about, oh, well, you gotta have a high
profile girlfriend or everybody has a girlfriend or a wife
or a significant other or whatever it is. So you
(07:38):
have to work be able to balance work and personal
right and most people get to do it. Kelsey has
a mega girlfriend like like the like the one of
the biggest on the planet, and it's obvious his focus
shifted towards her. Kelsey, do us a favor. We already know,
(08:04):
we saw it. Do we need to see this again.
Nobody wants to see it. You're not winning the Super Bowl.
You're not not with you playing that way, not with
Patrick Mahomes playing the way he's played the last two years. Yeah,
your luck is gonna run out. Do us a favor,
(08:30):
spend time with your girlfriend and give us football fans
a break. Just retire. How's that? Rob?
Speaker 4 (08:42):
I only got two words for you.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
You're right.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
I hardly got ever would have said that in all
my years working with Rob. Person almost fell over because
I was expecting. So you're focused on last season, rightfully.
So last season was terrible, and that optics in that
Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Go watch the video. If you didn't see it, don't
watch it.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
It's not quite as bad as the Cam Newton fumble,
but it's close.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
He didn't do anything, not doing anything like you try.
You see your quarterback scrambler. You're trying to run yourself
open so that he has.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
An outlack anything, and he's stating there watching all the
commotion around him. Now, you mentioned last year. It was
bad since twenty twenty two, so this is now the
last two seasons. His yards on a season are down
by almost five hundred yards from twenty twenty two to
twenty twenty four, his touchdowns twelve and twenty twenty two,
(09:32):
three in twenty twenty four. This is not just a
one year issue where he's worried about the Happy Gilmour
movie or the FX show that he's working on, or
even his podcast that he's trying to drop during the
Odd Couple, which was terrible by him. This has been
an ongoing situation for two years now, and it reached
the boiling point before the super Bowl, when the entire
(09:55):
NFL world was convinced this is gonna be Travis Kelse's
last game by he's going to retire. There was an
open secret amongst everybody who covers the team and all
the national pundits as well, so much so that you
had guys like Rashid Rice say after the fact, Yeah, no,
I convinced him to not retire. I convinced him that
(10:16):
he couldn't go out like that. You know that he
had to come back for one more year. And you've
said this before about plenty of athletes. The minute retirement
creeps into your brain, that's it.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
You're done. You're already once you even entertain it, you're done.
Because when you're playing, and if you feel like that,
you're not even bringing that up for real. Once you
start that, you already know deep down your heart's not
in it. And that's what it feels, exactly. And just
for context, there are two NFL players who are probably
(10:48):
the most two famous NFL players who have retired and
unretired and come back now the base only I'm gonna
say Kelsey, because Kelsey by all accounts, was about to retire.
They got blown out like that, he got embarrassed, He
had that viral moment, and then he, you know, in
my words, unretires so to speak.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Tom Brady twenty twenty one retires after the season. Unretires
after forty games or forty days.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Right.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Year to year, his passing yards went down by seven hundred.
The next season a right, his passer rating went down
by twelve points. The Tapaway Buccaneers went from thirteen and
four to eight and nine in one season. And here's
the most egregius example. Brett Favre, who has flirted with
(11:35):
retirement multiple times, but he actually retired twice. Okay, two
thousand and seven. He retires after the year with the Packers.
Unretires to good himself with the Jets. Year over year,
passing yards down by seven hundred, interceptions go up from
fifteen to twenty two. He goes from thirteen and three
(11:57):
in Green Bay to nine and seven with the j
than the last one. He contemplates retirement. After that miracle
run with Minnesota to the NFC Championship Game. He gets hurt, right,
and that's a big old thing. The bounty gate scandal
was a real thing. That year. He was great. He
was twelve and four, fourty hundred yards, thirty three touchdowns,
seven picks, the highest passer rating of his career that season.
(12:19):
That's a three time MVP. That's how good he was
in Minnesota. They convinced him, Hey, we were right there, Brett.
He gotta come back. You gotta come back one more season.
He came back, comes back one more season, five and eight.
He throws for twenty five hundred yards, seventeen hundred less
than the year before, which is about seventy yards a
game less.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
And I know we have way more than seven interception.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Touchdowns eleven interceptions, nineteen a passer rating of sixty nine,
the worst of his career. He went from the best
season of his career to the worst in his career,
all because his ego wouldn't allow him to do what
his hard had been telling him for a year now.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
And that's where we are with Travis Kelce. It's obvious
the idea that you said you weren't as focused. You
got your hands in way too many things. The focus
should be you're a young man, You're gonna have time here.
Those things aren't going anywhere, right, They're not going anywhere.
Focus in on playing football, and you didn't do that
for the last two years. Why would we believe that
(13:19):
this year will be any different? All Right? We want
to hear from you. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Are you buying Travis Kelsey's idea that he'll be all
right this year? Because I ain't buying it?
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Or does he just need to shut it down and
go home.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
I'm with that. It's time for him to call of
the day, go be a roadie with the Taylor Swift
and hang out in the concerts and eat cold food
or whatever they do. But he needs to stop playing football.
I'm all for it. Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty

(16:05):
covering the Chiefs. Will jump in with him find out
what's going on. But right now eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox, we're talking about Travis Kelsey. He admitted
finally that everybody knew that his focus wasn't. There's too
caught up in his girlfriend and all these other projects.
I'm just saying he might as well just retire now.
Don't even drave us through that. We've seen it. Last
year was awful. I don't expect anything to turn around
(16:27):
this year. We want to hear from you. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox We got all right.
Speaker 4 (16:32):

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Man.
Speaker 7 (16:42):
How y'all fellas living today? Robin R.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
What's happening? How are you man? We haven't heard from
you in a minute.
Speaker 7 (16:48):
Man. You know how I'm calling in on the way
home before my daughter's swim practice started. Otherwise my wife
would be giving me a whooping right now. But real quick, man, Look, Travis,
if you got one foot in on one foot out, man,
I don't want to hear about how focused you are, bro.
Unless you want to cut your girl off, unless you're
willing to cancel the podcast for the rest of the season,
(17:09):
go ahead and call it quitch. We see what it's
like when you have half ass in it. Let's keep
it real and right now. We know you're a serial
cotail writer. So if you're tired of writing Patrick Mahomes
coatails after his terrible season in last year, won't you
go ahead and hop on the biggest superstar on the
planets Coattails and Taylor Swift make it official. Don't do
like Tom Brady. I hate to get personal like Ephraim
(17:31):
Falahm did, but don't do like Tom Brady and end
up single. Brother. If you want to go ahead and
lock that down, go ahead and quit the game and
do what you got to do, because if you came
in as a football player, you're gonna leave as a
football player. And don't let no woman change you.
Speaker 8 (17:43):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
I'm with you. I'm with it under process, so I
have no personal stuff. Eight seven, seven ninety nine. On Fox,
just keep it moving.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
We got Paul and Tampa. Paul, you're on the ot
Cup of Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Paul?
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Rob out of the park.
Speaker 9 (17:56):
Parker loves you, big fans of listen you guys every day.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
And Rob's hating today.
Speaker 9 (18:02):
Rob just hat the hater's ball to.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
So listen.
Speaker 9 (18:08):
Last year there were twenty seven other starting tight ends
that had less yards than Travis Kelsey. So what are
those slackers doing last year? Twenty seven other starts?
Speaker 1 (18:17):
He thought he played well last year, Paul, I don't
care about I don't know. I don't care what other
other people you think he played well last year. Be honest.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
No, he didn't pay.
Speaker 9 (18:25):
His book to play, obviously, but to shame the guy.
He just played his third straight Super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
What does that mean? Did you did you watch him
in the Super Bowl? Did you see the play we're
talking about? I'm serious, Paul, Paul, let me ask you.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Did you see Super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (18:40):
No, but that doesn't mean that he did his part.
That doesn't mean that he did his part. I'm asking you,
did you see the play where he's in the Super
Bowl standing in the middle of the field as his
quarterback is trying to find somebody open. He didn't even move.
Did you rest roll?
Speaker 4 (18:55):
I did?
Speaker 5 (18:56):
It was embarrassing.
Speaker 8 (18:57):
Okay, kids, just the whole career.
Speaker 9 (18:59):
Off of that, his whole career super bowls at won three.
He's the all time leading receptions leader in the PUD.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
There's not a single person who's calling a question his career.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
We're not talking about life, man, we know that. Yeah,
his tight end, ever, we agree with that, that's not
what we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
Does not absolve him from being one foot in, one
foot out there.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
He's not all the way in and these we're too
busy about his girl for a nasty issue.
Speaker 9 (19:23):
Then what does that say about the other twenty seven
starting tight ends?
Speaker 4 (19:26):
And how many other tight ends are Maybe I'm not talented.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Maybe they're just not talented enough. He's talented. That's all
we want, Paul, I hear you.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
Thanks for the call, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Eight seven seven yep ninety nine on Fox. I'd love
to go back and forward. And he said he still
listens to the show.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
No, let's keep it moving.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Let's move down to Texas. Trays in Texas, everybody doesn't.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Have to be hung up on I'm.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Just sick sports radio. What's up, Tray?
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Hey so guy doing good?
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Tray?
Speaker 1 (19:53):
What up?
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (19:55):
Man, it's been a while where you've been. Oh man,
it's working man of Horror.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
I hear you are numb, wrong with that, man, I
work hard every day.
Speaker 8 (20:04):
But yeah, man, Trascott already just letting lebron Man just
sided here and all this. Man, if you're going to
do about just be about it. Man, you're not gonna retire.
Don't retire. But this whole talking and everything, and it's
like it is too much.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Best it is, especially when you start talking about and yeah,
you know, thanks Trey, I didn't get my all. I
want focus really, thanks for why you have to say that? Now?
What what did your come to? Thanks for the call?
What's your come to? Jesus that you have to put
it out there?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Exactly?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Want me in one more.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
Let's get to Drew New Jersey. Drew, you're on the
Akaba Fox Sports Radio, which you got Drew.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
I think I think he's still an okay tight end.
I think his reputation carries him more. And he's old.
You gotta keep in mind. And it's crazy. I just
literally look it up. He's the same age as Gronk,
came the same draft class as Gronk. I know you
just said arguably the greatest tight end. I don't think
between him and Gronk it was close. I think Gronk is.
(21:06):
At points in Gronk's career there was arguments of whether
he's the best player because of how Dominique was as
a bloc or how dominant he was automatic and.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
The best player whatever.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
No, I'm saying, like in the league at the time
as a non quarterback, the best non.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Quarterback with Gronk is just his body betrayed him. That's
what he came down.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
I think that.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
I don't know how you can make an argument that
he wasn't the greatest tight end. I because if you
look at Kelsey, Kelsey was strictly a receiving tight end.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
I was going to say, but that's another story ahead.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah, I mean, it's all list. It's like five guys
that anybody can say is kind of and it's.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Just between Gronk and Kelsey, who do you have?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
That's a good question. I don't know. I think Gronk.
I'm gonna say this. I'm gonna say gronk career gets
hurt because of all the injuries and not always being available.
I think that that hurts him. But I get your
dominance when he played. Yeah, you know what I mean,
I would probably take Gronk for sure, But but but
when you look at the breath full body of work,
(22:09):
he was out a lot, he missed a lot, all right,
Thanks Drew, appreciated.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
And what Kelsey has going from is not only was
he good, but he had a longevity that just most
other tight ends don't.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Have, no doubt. All Right, Coming up next, we're gonna
talk with Darren Smith from Kansas City. He's a sports
talk radio sure he'll agree with you, Rob, No, he's not.
And reporter who covers the cheese. So we'll talk to
him about Travis Kelce, talk about the Patrick Mahomes stuff
that I had the other day. That and much more
before let's get you caught up. Her name is Moncey Bolanos,
(22:40):
and it's nice Monty. When you're on the show and
somebody doesn't butcher your name, I'm just saying, poor guy
catching straights. I'm not gonna lie to you. Guys, I'm
not listening to you.
Speaker 10 (22:50):
I'm watching Taylor swist so much right now, the Kelsey
Brothers on the In New Heights podcast.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
This came out. We never missed your updates. I usually
paid that ship, but right now I'm not. But I'm
not alone.
Speaker 10 (23:09):
One point two six million people are watching this live
right now. I know at least yes obviously, and the
comments live they're just they keep scrolling everyone is paying attention.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (23:22):
They started the podcast with basically saying that Travis Kelcey
tried to get around the logistics of meeting her during
her erastour because he knew.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
The elevator operator at.
Speaker 10 (23:33):
Where they play the Chiefs because that's where the New
Era's tour concert was, and that the elevator operator did
not let him get through. She's like, yeah, he didn't
even try to do it the right way. He was
just screaming that he wanted me to go on a
date with him, and I did. And now they're talking
about how she's really genuinely now a football fan because
she wasn't. So I'll keep you guys updated. I'll keep

Speaker 2 (23:52):
What else is happening in the world of football.
Speaker 10 (23:53):
Well, Browns ricky quarterbacks Dors Sanders suvered an oblique injury today.
He is considered day to day.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
He's not going to practice Thursday.
Speaker 10 (24:00):
He is unlikely to play in their second preseason game
on Sunday against the Eagles. Bears head coach Ben Johnson
announced its starters, including Caleb Williams, will play in Chicago
in Chicago's second preseason game against the Bills. Bills running
back James Cook agreed to a four year, forty eight
million dollar extension today with thirty million guaranteed, and he
did return.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
To practice today.
Speaker 10 (24:21):
In baseball, the Brewers have now won twelve in a row.
They defeated the Pirates earlier today twelve to five. The
Padres have won five in a row. They crushed the
Giants eleven to one. They now are on top of
the NL West, half a game up on the Dodgers.
The Tigers shout out the White Sox one zero. Ketel
Marte had a ninth eighteen home run to lift the
Diamondbacks over the Rangers six to five. Right now, Jeremy
(24:42):
Panya has put the Astros on the scoreboard first with
the home run. They're on top of the Red Sox
two zero. After the first inning. The Guardians are on
the scoreboard, but the Marlins are up for one bottom
of the third, and the Reds are edging the Phillies
one zero top of the sixth.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Back to you guys, yeah, Hike, you appreciate it. Yeah,
it is the odd couple. On a worship Wednesday, Rob
Parker robb g in for Kelvin Washington. Let's welcome in
our next guest Darren Smith, Kansas City sports talk radio
host and reporter who covers the Kansas City Chiefs. Darren,
(25:16):
how are you saying?
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Hell? Yep, rab Parker and I'm always glad to be
on with you, gentlemen.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
All right, always if you still feel that way after
we do, I know.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
Anyway, Travis Kelsey said the part that we all knew
out loud, that he wasn't focused, wasn't as committed, and
all that slip because he's got the big time girlfriend.
How surprised to hear him say that?
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Very surprised. I mean, one, you know, you would think
that someone wouldn't admit that. And I'm pretty sure it's
throughout the season he was asked that. I'm pretty sure.
I don't think I've probably asked him that, but not
on the record, So I'm not going to talk about
what we spoke before off the record. But it was
surprising to hear that coming coming out of coming out
of his comments.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Yes, but he didn't play well last year. I don't
care what the numbers say.
Speaker 5 (26:06):
I just I agree with that argument about that. Yeah, No, no,
he didn't play well. And you know, and when people
talk about the Super Bowl, you know, we've had this
conversations before the Chiefers got to be by better teams,
and I tell people Philly was was focus over events
for what happened two years ago. The Chiefs would just
focus on history. So it was two different mindsets going
(26:27):
into that ball game, and Philly's mindset one out and
the better team won.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
So we're talking about this article and in the GQ
thing you mentioned, he said his players slipped.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
His focus has.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Slipped, you know, in the last year, just in the
last what six months now, he's been in Happy Yillmore two.
I think he's been on a couple of FX episodes
too much. And right now as we're speaking, he's part
of this wild Taylor Swift album rollout. Is it fair
to say that, even though he says that he's going
to get back on track, that he still is not
as focused as he should be.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
No, I'm a disagreed and push gonna have simply because
the Happy Gilmore and the sex that's that for film
last year just happened to come out, you know when
it came out. So I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
deal too much to that simply because all that took
effect on his plane last year, I believe. Now the
Taylor Swift thing. Look, man, it's his girlfriend. I don't
like really talking about they, you know, play his personalized
but you know, she's she, she did his podcast. He's
(27:19):
just a part of of her, of her, of her rollout.
I can't really say that that's a bad deal for
him because I mean, he's supporting his lady.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
So you know, yeah, it's a bad deal for Kansas
City Chiefs, fans and people who saw him in the
Super Bowl standing in the middle of the field while
his quarterback was running for his life. That's the bad part.
It's bad for the people who played five hundred dollars
for tickets. It's bad for the team when they're tight
end isn't focused and the guy everybody knew it. That's
all I'm saying. You could have a girlfriend. Everybody has
(27:49):
a girlfriend and wife a significant other. But it shouldn't
affect your job. It can't affect your job. There's got
to be a balance.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Darren Wow, I want to push back against but I
can because I agree with you on that. Again, I know,
because I'm logical, Well on this, this is you're you're right,
But remember that's last year. I know Rob de asked
me about about what's going on this year, and I
think you asked me about for Roll And again, this
is what's going on right now.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
Now.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
He's in much better shape. He refocused in the off seasons.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
You think he's going to be better this year, I'm
gonna ask you seriously, because there's no chance. There's no
chance he's better.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
He will be better this year than this play was
last year.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Yes, do you think his numbers after going down for
two straight years will go up?
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Are they going to go up after they went down
two years in a row?
Speaker 5 (28:37):
Okay, Okay, now, Rob, the first one is going to
have to go because ra Shei Wright is going to
be gone for a number of games as well as
as well as it looked like Hollywood Brown might not
be ready for the start of the season, so the
Chiefs are going to be depending on him along with
Xavier Worthy in the run game. So so, just by osmosis, yes,
his numbers should be better because the Chiefs will rely
on him more this year until they get Rashid and
(28:59):
Hollywood Brown back in the offense.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
All right, Our guest is Darren Smith's Kansas City Sports
Talk Radio Homes and a reporter who covers the Kansas
City Chiefs, Darren.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
That Athletic Tiers article came out this week. I'm sure
you saw it. And despite Patrick Mahomes last season ranking
tenth in EPA seventeenth and passer rating twenty sixty yards
per attempt, his numbers basically down across the board from
his peak. We had an anonymous offensive coordinator saying there quote,
I think Patrick Mahomes are the best quarterback to ever live.
(29:32):
Do you believe right now that, given what we've seen
on the field in the last two seasons, that Patrick
Mahomes has taken a step back and he's kind of
just living off that reputation that he's built over the
previous part of his career.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Oh, that's a load of that's a load of question.
I'm going to man, that's a tough one because, respectfully,
his numbers have dipped, and his numbers then looking I
think we had this last of his numbers dip because Danny,
to me, is not the offensive coordinator and the coordinating
play calle has gone down the last two years, even
though they won the Super Bowl and Ben and played
in the last three. So his numbers production wise have
(30:07):
gone down. There are obviously, you know, we look at
the context injuries and play been out and stuff like that. Yes,
but Patrick Mahomes his play to me, has not been
at the level of MVP the last two seasons. So
now while I think he's he's still, you know, probably
one of the best quarterbacks in the league. I'm not
going to say he's the tenth best quarterback, but he's
definitely top one to me. Well, to me, he's still
(30:29):
the top quarterback overall, just by wins and losses, leadership
and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
No he's not. He's not.
Speaker 5 (30:35):
No, no, no, no, no, no no no. But the numbers,
the numbers on the field say otherwise. But I'm saying overall,
you know, over what it's not.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
A lifetime Achievement award we're talking about, And this is
what people can't separate when it comes. I get it,
he's had a tremendous career. If he doesn't play another day,
he's a Pro Football Hall of I get all that.
But we're talking about what we're watching and Darren, my
biggest argument, and I'm want you to push back or
refute it is you the team was thirteen the thirteen
(31:04):
to O object keep forgetting how many get? What would they?
What would they? What was the record Darren before they
lost the game eleven or twelve or whatever, they were
undefeat all right, and then they go fifteen and two
in a quarterback league and he gets zero first place
votes for MVP. Now, I've never seen that in any MVP,
(31:26):
especially for a team that was fifteen and two, where
the quarterback doesn't get rewarded. He got nothing.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
Yeah, but again to push Look, okay, you wanted me
to push back getting he had his last time. Because
you know, voters have voter for tigue. That's the reason
why Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
No no, don't no, no, don't stop it. Brett Ford
won three in a row. Stop stop stop.
Speaker 5 (31:50):
Wasn't social media, there wasn't.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
No, no, no, there's no voter fatigue. You know what
it was. They wanted to give Josh one that they's no.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
Voter fortigue, said that.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
But that's not voter fatigue. That's people change their votes.
They changed their.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
Votes, Rob, But I'm saying there's voter for t because
Lamar Jackson should have won the award last year and
and and not Josh.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
They screwed him. That ain't no voter fatigue. They said
that the players that changed their votes they like Josh
Allen and they decided that they were going to give
him an award. It had nothing to do with no
fatigue because because.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
The season vote Josh Allen as the most overrated player.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
And I know that.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
But but you got former quarterback what's his name, dan
or lost game, Emmanuel Ocho. Those guys all changed their votes.
Those are the those are the reasons why plear.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
Okay, okay, Now now you're bringing the players who haven't
won anything. But I got.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
You that's why.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
There you go. You're right, You're.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
Right, so so so so so again, I'm not going
to dignify that all those players. Look, you're not gonna
getting push that as it relates to Patrick. I think
Lamar Jackson has been the best quarterback the last two
seasons too, will I told so, so you're not gonna
get no pushback as relates to that. All I'm saying
is last year, as a released to Mahomes, I told
you before the Chiefs would have had to go seventeen
(33:09):
to know for Mahomes to win the MVP. Now, no,
why didn't he get him, he.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Got well, he didn't get one vote, seriously, not one.
Go ahead, Rob, do you got squeezes?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
So yeah, he's got one last one. So Brett Veech
said back at the combine, I'm talking about patck Mahomes quote.
We have to get him not overthinking. He's seeing things
that maybe defenses don't even do now because he's that
far advanced. You mentioned Eric Beenemy being gone. Is there
a situation where the Chiefs need another voice to combat
(33:39):
Andy Reid that his laid back style maybe is not.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Working used to.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
Oh, well you go get me burning effigy with Chiefs Kingdom.
I'm gonna be honest, yes, because again that's where the
pushback where be ene Me came from, because he was
someone who had no problem to run the football and
have a more of a balance attack and keeping the
defense on their toes with with you know, having man
they get the former quarterback and the offensive coordinator what
(34:07):
they want to throw the football, but they don't, you know,
they don't really have a balance attack, which is look,
I tell a lot of people that's the reason why
the Chiefs, you know, when it comes to fandom, have
gone down on last year's because they're not putting up
the points that they did when Eric Bine me was
the was the OC because they could put up thirty five,
thirty eight points a game and people's parlayd and stuff
would hit because you have you had great numbers. These
(34:28):
last two years, you've seen the Chiefs and in a
lot of one scoring games that have gone down to
the wire, and Patrick Mahomes putting less to selling numbers. Again,
that's one of the reasons why he didn't get MVP votes.
And and and to me has not been one of
the top quarterbacks over you know, in the last couple
of years compared to Lamar Deckson, because you know, Patrick
has done the winning, but Lamar has done the winning
(34:49):
as well as putt the stats on the board, for
no doubt. In the air and on the ground.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
All right, Darren Smith, Kansas City Sports Talk Radio HOS
and a reporter who covers the Chiefs in Kansas. Hey,
thank you so much, Darren, appreciate it. Thanks for joining

It is the odd couple on a worship Wednesday, Rob Parker,
Rob g In for Kelvin Washington, and Uh, we're gonna
get to Shekel City first. Let's do that.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Go to Shekel City.
Speaker 10 (35:57):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
The home base for Rob Parker is Stalley Dicks against
the Spread.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Alright, Shekel City. This is from earlier two and one
last night, one eighty eight and one. So I'm like
a striking distance. Thanks for your hot. That's why I'm
gonna get the five hundred. Yes, I am within striking distance.
Best bet the Yankees over the Twins, that game is
(36:27):
in a rain delay. The Braves over the Mets. That
game is in a rain delay in New York. Both
games very seldom oft the Mets and Yankees playing at
the same time.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
In the shit, it's usually one or the other, which
makes total sense, even though they have two different fan bases.
And I got the Dodgers. Finally, they can't beat the Angels.
I mean they lost all five games. Shay right there.
They're owing five against the Angels this year.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
Yeah, and I made a mistake. That's next.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Yeah, he's pitching the night, ain'ty oh Tani?
Speaker 2 (36:59):
He better not.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Yeah, I thought he's pitching tonight against the Angels.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
He is.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Yeah, So let you go off into a trade. Here
we go. Remember I got the Yankees the best bet
I got the Brakes, and I got the Dodgers. And remember,
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you who I bet. We got a tissue for me.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Speaking of the Mets, time for the tirect play of
the day.
Speaker 11 (37:26):
Strider out of the stretch, deals swing a line drive
deep right center field, out toward that wall.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
It is gone.
Speaker 11 (37:34):
I'll missile into right center field. That two run home
run and history number two, one hundred and fifty three
for Pete Alonzo all alone as the franchise leader in
home runs. And listen to this crowd, everybody on their feet.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
Shout out Pete Alonzo with the Mets that he's the
Tireck Play of the Day, Play the Day, brought to
you by Tirerack, of course, for over forty years, tire
rackets with having customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, shipped fast and free back

convenience easy review options like mobile tire installation, tirect dot com,
the Way tire Byer.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
I'm not here to rip on the metal announcer. Who
did that? Dude? If you're gonna say the all time leader,
don't you have to say who we passed? Rob g
If you're trying to frame I would like the moment,
right he becomes the all time New York Mets home
run leader, passing Darryl Strawberry, Bubba.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
That's all step aside, straw we got a new made exactly.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
You gotta do something like that to let people know.
It's just kind of weird that he didn't mention Strawberry
about him passing him, and that's really what he should
have done. But anyway, you're stickler for that kind of stuff,
right I am. I listen because I listen to all
that stuff. If you go to timestamp something, Rob G.
You know what I mean, that would be played for
and that's going to be played for his career high.
(39:00):
Like you got to say, you.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Know what I mean, that's gonna be played on his reel.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Like when Hank Aaron passed Babe Ruth. You can't you
know the all time Homer leader he passed Babe Ruth.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
All right, that is journalism one on one with Rob Parker.
Usually you pay, act'll get that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
That's right, you gotta pay to do that, John Gruden,
Let's do that about a minute real quick. The bottom
line is, I don't care what court case is, what
happens in his face. The toothpaste is out of the tube.
People aren't gonna fit. You still wrote those emails and
call people names, you know what I mean, thinking that
(39:38):
you were under the cloak of nobody would ever see them.
That that's your true that's your true person, Robb G.
When no one's looking, that that's when you're at right.
That's when you're at your your your your honest self
is when no one's looking. When no one's looking, are
you digging in your nose? Because I'm not digging in
(39:58):
my nose even when I'm by my because I just
think it's gross. He dug in his nose and we
happen to see it, and I can't unsee it. How's that,
John Gruden? Good luck in court? Public opinion? You lost?
Is that simple? Our number two of the odd couples
coming up, and you know what you need to do.
You need to stick around or go watch Travis Kelsey
(40:21):
in the use of a Just kidding
