Serious XM Channel eighty three. Wow, ain't my name Rob Parker?
Say it again, Rob Sterling Junior. Say his name Kelvin
Washington one more time, Kelvin Washington. And we are indeed
the Odd Couple on this TV theme song Thursday, Rob
(01:17):
Kelvin Washington. And you'll need our telephone number for sure,
because we are without question, the most listener friendly national
sports talk radio show on the planet now at least
when people are awake. Sorry, Ben, I'm sorry about that.
Write it down. Committed to memory eight seven, seven ninety
(01:40):
nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. And always remember.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
The Odd Couple was filmed in front of a live audience.
Sweetie Beaty, that's right, let's go big show and let
me welcome in my co host, he is in Washington, my.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Guy, Happy TV themes. So on Thursday, what's good?
Speaker 3 (02:06):
All is very, very good, and we'll talk about a
little bit later on in the show. Two things. Hey,
the MLB trading frenzy. My god, there's so many teams
in the mix, Like there's not clear cut. The Dodgers
or Yankees aren't clear cut going to the World Series.
So everybody feels like they're in, you know, like so
so teams that feel like they're in made a lot
(02:27):
of moves, a lot of movement, a lot of bullpen
pitching moving around, you know, and so much trading going on.
So we'll get into that.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
That's what you listen. The teams are like, man, at
the end of the day, we can talk this. We
could talk hitters home and you need pitching we're doing,
especially in the postseason and especially this era where guys
are only gonna give you three four five. You know
you're gonna need as much help as you can. So yeah,
a lot of borderline contenders, some some real contenders said
(02:55):
we're gonna make some moves and try to get back
in this thing. Even some re united and feel so
good stars.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
One.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, I can't wait to talk about that. That's kind
of crazy. But John Morosi, Fox Sports MLB Insider, we'll
talk with him coming up in this first hour. I
know I sound a little bit different. I got a
little of a clemped. I think I have like allergies
or something. I'm not sick. I don't have a headache
of sod fever, but my nose keeps running. So I know.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
I say, you did travel all across the world.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, I know, but I just maybe that's what it is.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
I do you realize every time you come back from
a trip, you do say that you know this right.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
But I'm not sick though, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
Though, feel sick. Listen.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
This is why I keep telling you and everybody else
wear a mask when you're on planes.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
No, that's okay. I've been traveling for years. I mean,
if it's during COVID, I did wear a mask.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm just I don't want anybody coughing in my mouth.
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Well, no, that's the oppositely, they're coughing in your mouth.
You don't have a mask on.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Okay, there you go. And last, but not least, on
this TV theme song Thursday. You've known anybody who worked
on the show known for a while. But my alma mata,
Southern Connecticut State University announced today officially that they will
and for our couple listeners, they don't know, but now
they know, they will name the press box at the
(04:19):
football field Just dow Field at Southern Connecticut State University
in New Haven, Connecticut after me on October fourth, during
homecoming halftime of the football game. Love and we'll talk
a little bit later on, I think in shop talk.
But all I'm going to say to you is humble,
(04:40):
unbelievable when I think about my beginnings there and this
idea that me and my mom took a greyhound bus
to that school, you know, with this idea of being
a sports writer, you know what I mean, That's all
it was. And now thirty nine years or so later
or whatever it is, here it is. So I'm feeling
very grateful today.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Congrats brother, Yeah, we'll do a whole you know a
little thing on it.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
But congrats in advanced. I told you it before when
you first told me about it. I'll tell it again.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Congratulations, my man, well deserved and us and.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Listen, don't. I'm still you know, still relatively young and
all that. But please feel free to throw some bouquets
and flowers people way before they got to wait till
their eighty eight on the deathbed.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
And no doubt, or is too late, you know what
I mean?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I'm okay.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
It's okay to be celebrated in love and cherished in
real time, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
I appreciate it, dude. Definitely, let's welcome in the Odd
Couple crew on this TV theme some Thursday. Rob g
is our producer, Alex is our engineer, Martin White. Is
that the anchor's death? Is that purple Hayes on Martin's brain?
Is that right? Is that because you're getting married? Or
is that guitarist? Now, Coral? Is that it the guitar?
Speaker 6 (05:55):
Oh, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Wait, I think I'm the one who suggested that he
dropping it is not you know what, Alex, he is
not Jimmy Hendrix though.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Wow, okay, Martin, You're not the only thing you have
in common with Jimmy Hendrix is that you're both black.
That's it. Hey, Mari, you.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Catch a Strange's. All you're trying to do is just
get your get your guitar row.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
That's it, all right. And of course, Elijah a social
med Let's write Elijah, Let's get at it. Rob g Uh,
we got some news out of Cincinnati and uh, the
quotes are kind of crazy.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
Yeah, it happened. Actually yesterday we were talking about it.
Trey Hendrickson has ended his holdout. He will be back
in Cincinnati with the Bengals this upcoming season.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
So that's the big headline.
Speaker 7 (06:47):
But now, in the wake of his reporting, he's met
with the media couple of times, and his comments about
his decision to come back really raise some eyebrows around here.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Take it. Listen to what he said.
Speaker 8 (06:59):
What I'm not gonna do is as best as I can,
like avoid being a distraction. You know, I want to
help the guys, you know, the guys that have helped
me along the way, to Mario Davis, Cam Jordan, even
Sam Hubbard helped me a lot.
Speaker 9 (07:11):
When I was here, So to be.
Speaker 8 (07:13):
That right now, I think that's what's most important, and
this narrative will kind of iron itself out as we
continue to progress towards the season.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
And Rob g he wand up called himself, which I
didn't here in that sound bite.
Speaker 7 (07:26):
He said later that the idea of holding out and
preventing younger players from learning from him is selfish.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Okay, can I say this to Trey Hendrickson? You're crazy,
your ma sugar naw. All you football players is this on?
Have been brainwashed to think that you're doing something wrong.
Your CBA and your players Union. Kelvin has put them
(07:54):
in a spot. The only way that they can get
their fair value is to do what Hendrickson did, which
is a hold own. There is no other option. What
do you mean selfish? Selfish is teams that you play
well for them and they tell you, you know what, No,
you can come back, but you gotta take a cut
otherwise we're gonna release you. That's selfish because when you
(08:17):
played well, they didn't give you any more money or
do anything or let you out of your deal or
bump it up. No, come on, man, football players, I'll
never get it. How are you selfish? The system doesn't
work for you to be for it to be fair
to you. You have no recourse. You have nothing else
(08:38):
you can do other than sitting it out until they
come to their senses and take care of you. I
still don't understand this. They got terrible healthcare, terrible pension,
just terrible everything. The NFL is making money hand over fish.
(08:58):
You got a commission who makes fifty million dollars and
you think you're selfish. That's bread being brainwashed to think
that you did something wrong. No, you're admirable. You're a
stand up guy to stand up and say I'm not
gonna just fall in line and take whatever you give me,
(09:19):
and I'm just happy to be here and humbled and
yeah whatever. Let me let you throw some peanuts at
my feet and I'm good with it. Are you kidding me?
I respect people who are willing to stand up and
do something and say I matter, my value matters. The
reason that the NFL has been able to get away
(09:40):
with what they've done to these players is because most
of them are cowards and aren't willing to stand up
to ownership, aren't willing to stand up to the union,
aren't willing to stand up to the people that are
the powers that be. That's why they're in such a
bad spot because most NFL players are a brainwashed and
(10:04):
be cowards with the capital C. And it's mind boggling
when you think about how big and strong and feelss
these guys are, but when it comes time to making
sure that they have the best contracting deal, they bow out.
I salute you, Trey Hendrickson, you are not n ot selfish.
Speaker 6 (10:29):
Well, I I was saluting him.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
The problem why I got a chill on my salute
is because he coward down and called himself being a
bad guy, and I'm being a bad teammate.
Speaker 6 (10:39):
No, you're not. He talked about I want to get back.
You know why I want to get.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Back and went on show leadership to the young guys.
This is showing leadership to the young guys. Standing up
for yourself is absolutely a way to do that. You
can't be the NFL sack leader. You can't be one
of the best defensive players since you got there. You're
having thirteen plus sacks except once. You can't be the
guy that's sitting around here doing all this. When you
look at the defensive metrics with him on the field,
(11:04):
it's absolutely astronomical difference than when he's off. So he
knows his worth. He know what he brings to the
Bengals organization. Now, this is an organization that we know
has been historically cheap. This has been an organization that
doesn't pay anybody guarantee contracts outside of a year for
the most part, except quarterbacks. So this is to me.
I don't understand why people don't understand this. And this
(11:26):
goes for you listening, This goes for Trey Henderson, this
goes for Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington. You have to be
in the business of you. I am in the business
of Kelvin. I'm going to work hard, I'm going to
play and be a teammate. I'm gonna do absolutely what
I believe it's gonna be best for us, for you,
for me, the odd couple, but iHeart Media is in
(11:47):
business for iHeart and they're gonna do it's best for them.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
Kelvin has to do it's best for me.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Trey Henderson has to do its best for him in
the league, especially where you can do all that you can,
like he has, but be making fifteen million dollars, but
all the comparable.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
Guys who are doing exactly what you're doing. TJ.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Watt, Miles, Miles Garrett are making three times what you're
making just about. So advocating for yourself is admirable. Advocating
for yourself is good business. Advocating for yourself is exactly
what you're supposed to be doing. But somehow, powerful people
rob have always tricked the younger, the little man, and
(12:24):
they're thinking it's everybody's fault but us. So you get
players who feel bad, Oh, I don't want to, I
don't want to meet taking a haircut.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
Let me do it for the team. And I don't
want to. I don't want to be the guy that
takes all the money. The ownership takes all the money.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
They charge people twenty five dollars for a beer, thank you,
They charge you one hundred dollars apart in a place
where there's no other wor place to park, but at
your ballpark or your stadium or your arena.
Speaker 6 (12:47):
And then you even look.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
At powerful politicians, they trick you, pay your taxes, do
all this. Meanwhile, they paid seven hundred and fifty dollars.
But they're billionaires and millionaires, and I mean literally seven
hundred fifty dollars in taxes, So someh're along the line.
Ownership always tricks the little man. You give your blood,
sweat and tears for seven years to a team, six
years to a team, you say, hey, I want to
go somewhere else. It just wasn't working out. They didn't
(13:09):
treat me right, they didn't do all they could. You're
the bad guy. So I don't know how people fall
for the okie doke every time. Trey Anderson absolutely deserves
to get this money. He absolutely deserves to hold out
if that's what he chooses to do, and he should
not feel bad about it.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
In fact, he should be. This is how we do it.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
This is how we build unity as a league and
as a players association by doing what's best for us.
And I don't get why he now it's bad leadership. No,
bad leadership is how the Bengals have run their business.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Or bad leadership is what Tom Brady did taking a
hometown discount and then making all the owners go, well,
you see what tom Brady did. He took less. Patrick
Mahomes wind up taking less too. No, tom Brady did
an injustice to the rest of the membership. You don't
take less that creates other people having to do that
(13:58):
because he's one of the people that people look up to.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Oh yeah, at his point of doing it justifiable. I
get it.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
He wants to keep winning. The problem is to what
you said. They're gonna use that against him. They're gonna
say that against a big body, Right, That's what I'm
saying them, is what I say against them. They're gonna
say the best in the business is doing this. Surely
you can. You know your only player X, your only player,
why you're not Tom Brady if he's doing.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
It, Surely you can. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Trey Henderson, I love that he was standing on business
until he stopped standing on business.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
Stand on It.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine Hendrickson's contract holdout selfish?
Do you expect players to constantly put team finances ahead
of their own? We'll continue this conversation next with you

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Hey, thank you for me and a fend And she
hit that note too, by the way, she did hit that.
Notice Fox Sports Radio it is Rob Parker Kevin Washington
on the TV Themes on Thursday.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
Clearly you just heard the Golden Girls right there.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
And it is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen, which
means one dollar or more from every lizard treat is
donating to your local member of Hospitals of Children's Miracle
Network Hospitals. Blizzard treats are even sweeter when they support
kids who needed most DQ Happy taste good And I
could go for a Reese's Cup blizzard right now. That
(17:14):
sound delicious?
Speaker 6 (17:15):
All right, Rob, we're taking some phone calls.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
You and I are actually in agreement on this Trey
Hendrickson's gotta relax by beings. I believe he said he's
being selfish with the holdout. I believe he's being selfish
by now holding out and by cowering and by acting
like he did something wrong.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Help and we want to hear from you. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. You can still jump in
Dan in Kansas City. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (17:38):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Dan?
Speaker 12 (17:40):
Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (17:41):
Guys?
Speaker 5 (17:42):
I do?
Speaker 6 (17:42):
What's up?
Speaker 12 (17:43):
Henderson? He sounds like squeak herned bastball, like lesson between
sixteen seventeen more times. I'm out, all right, you just
walk back in?
Speaker 5 (17:55):
What are you doing.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
Right?
Speaker 3 (17:58):
I don't know. I mean either people get cold, feed
people get scared. I don't know. Teammates don't rally around
and support people. I just don't understand it. Like, if
I'm a teammate, I'm going to be thankful to call there, Dan,
appreciate Kelvin. If I'm a teammate, dude, get your lout,
get your money for you and your family. I'm not
(18:18):
gonna I'm gonna be mad. I'm gonna be mad at
you because they don't want to take care of you.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
I just don't understand that. I don't get it. And
that's what I'm saying. They want you to do that.
They're like, yo, man, go set the go set the president.
Go be one of those people who can stand up
and do what you need to get Most people can't
do it.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Its it trickled down to us. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
If you're one of the best players in the league
and surely on that team, we need you to do
stuff like.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
That, no doubt. How about Tim Chili, Tim in Atlanta,
you're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
What's up?
Speaker 11 (18:49):
Tim?
Speaker 6 (18:53):
What up?
Speaker 12 (18:55):
You know?
Speaker 9 (18:55):
I don't know if you guys ever heard of John Maxwell,
kind of like the leadership guy. I think when of
his court is one time he gave a great definition
that if I could send to Trendson, I would say this.
He said that humility is not thinking less of yourself,
but thinking of yourself less, which implies at some point
(19:16):
in time, you got to put yourself first. So him
saying what he's saying, that's not showing you ability because
you're thinking less of yourself and that's not the definition
of humility. And Trey Hendrickson means to know that that
if you think that that first round draft pick, that
defenshed in and the signs, you think he's gonna go
up there looking forward to living up to you after said, man,
(19:37):
I can go out here and ball out and this
is what I'm going to get and after what you've done.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
And you know he may.
Speaker 9 (19:44):
Be thinking, Man, as soon as I get a chance
to get out of here, I'm getting out of here.
So those kid, those other guys in the locker room, like, man,
are you crazy to go get your money?
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Man?
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Right till I don't get it. I have football players
to meet. Brainwashed. I don't totally brainwashed. I've never seen
guys Kelvin who are uh these great athletes but don't
think for themselves, aren't like like, I don't care what
I know a lot of football players, former players who
I'm cool with or whatever, and I look at them
(20:15):
every day and cannot figure out how the NFL could
be printing money handover fist. And you guys have these
awful pensions. Awful, that's awful.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
It's easy answer. You know they can go get they
get get in the hit by a train.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Oh yeah, that's it. Thank you, Thanks for letting us know.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
Jerry Jones just you know, he can go out there
and get hit by train.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
So that's why I can't guarantee your money, because you
know you might go out there and lightning strikes.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Fans go, I haven't here fans to they they like PI.
They're with the owners fans, which I don't even understand.
What does he need all that money for. I don't
I don't understand it. Or or he needs to be
in camp. I remember one analyst on television and she
was berating Aaron Rodgers for not being in camp, and
(21:07):
then someone told her, you know he hadn't signed by it,
he's a free agent.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
Oh okay, I know what you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Yeah, but but he was berated for not being in camp.
Do you know what I'm saying? And I'm like what.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
I told you. It's a top down theme. And they
have tricked players, They trick fans. You know, it's even
in our government. They make oh if everybody else, it's
like sleight of hand. They move all to blame and
everything on other people. And we all yell at each other,
we yell at the players. Players are man. Meanwhile, like
you man, it's a money, it's a printing. They printing money,
running money, and yet you're mad at the player for
getting what he's words.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
I always say this, if players have to have a
salary cap, why don't owners have a profits cap? Like
you can't make more than ten percent on your money?
Do you know how many owners would be out, would
would say I'm not going for that and would probably
close down shop because they would not be dictated to.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
How much money they can and what they and what again,
I said, last point for me, when they will get
not even just the players, look at how they treat
like dude, to go to a game, a football game
and do it right for a family of for you're
gonna pay it's like two thousand dollars or something. I mean,
sayre fifteen hundred dollars for the tickets, for the parking,
for the food, for the jersey, like it's insane and
(22:19):
so to me, they're making money all over the place.
And dang it, if you're Trey Hendrickson as great as
you've been, been absolutely outstanding for three to four years straight, dude,
you deserve that money.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Quit, don't cower, don't bow down, don't cower man, No, doubt.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
All right, we got John Morosi on the Morosi on
the other side, trending been real quick.
Speaker 6 (22:37):
Got to tell them about Dairy Queen.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
It is Miracle Treat Day at DQ, which means one
dollar more from every Blizzard treat is donated to your
local member hospitals Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Blizzard treats
are even sweeter when they support kids who need it most.
So go check out the kids, Help out the kids DQ.
Happy taste. Good Now with checking the name with Martin Weiss,
getting you set on what's trning, Hey, Martin.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Been a little lot of we'll figure it on, little
carrying on between you all right now, you already taking straight.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
He already told me, he said, don't come to the
wedding already already.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
But that's because Brus there and y'all be fright me, Chris, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
There's gonna be a We're gonna beef at the way is.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
The man retired. Oh stop it, Alex, He's not gonna
one day you go slip, Alex.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
We got our guys.
Speaker 6 (23:34):
We do have our guests.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
John Morosi, Fox Sports Radio, MLB Insider, John, John, you
don't even we don't even need you now, because Martin
just told us everything that happened in baseball.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
My goodness, creation what a frenzy, John, Do we have
them something?
Speaker 5 (23:51):
Okay, I've been, I been, Thank you, guys. I've been
fortunate to cover trade deadlines for about twenty years, and
this was the best I have ever seen, the best.
Just it was like a trade every fifteen minutes. I've
just never seen anything like it. And I think we'll
be talking about this deadline for a very very long time.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
And John, I'm assuming and my feel is that the
trade deadline was a frenzy because there's so many did
no clear cut. I know the Dodgers and Yankees made
the World Series last year. I can't say without question
that both of them are going back. I think it's
wide open. The American League even more than the National
League is wide open, and teams that feel like this
(24:34):
might be our in or our chance, why not don'te.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
For it exactly. I think you're exactly right. And we
talked about it. Actually, my colleague at MB network, Joel Sherman,
mad at this point earlier today that we talk about
what the legacy of moneyball is, right. Moneyball is all
about looking for the inefficiency. Well, for a long time,
there were teams that were regarding their prospects a little tightly,
(25:01):
and I think what that ended up sometimes doing was
it stifled a lot of activity. But now you've got
people like Aj Treler, honestly like Brian Cashman. The Yankees
got seven players rob in the last week. That's the roster.
So we saw teams that were at times they would
be a little more cautious decided to really step out
(25:23):
and make some serious moves. The Phillies I thought had
a really great deadline. The Mets had a great deadline.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Look at that bullpen, and I think the Mets bullpen
is like an NBA Big three now like Lebron and
Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wayne that they got two closers
and the third guy Rogers, right, Rogers Hellsley and who
else and and Daz They got an unbelievable bullpen.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
Unreal. And and the thing I was joking Rob that
one of my favorite things now is going to be
all of these new in game entertainment people with like
all the pyrotechnis and the lights and everything. It's like
they're gonna have to now all share their their intellectual
property across the league because everybody had to change. So
we now we have to see Joan Duran's entrance and
(26:10):
now it's a bank, and then the Yankees are gonna
have you know, but back in the day it was
just one. It was Mariano Ander Sandman. Now the Yankees
got like three guys. They're gonna have their own entrance.
So it's gonna be a lot of fun. And listen,
you're gonna have to score your runs early in the postseason.
This is we're gonna be talking about this deadline day
when we get to October, and basically it's gonna be
a race to get to your bullpen, to bring in
(26:31):
the heavy arms late and and to just stifle stifle
any sort of chance for a rally. So it's a
really really exciting time in the game, and I think
a lot of different teams feel optimistic about their chances
of winning and and you even have a team that
I would say is is really on the on the
border of being a seller, like Tampa Bay. They made
(26:54):
some five moves. The Royals made some five moves. So
I like to see teams going for it speaks to
a healthy league. And I'm just as a fan. I
mean I was obviously it was working it and so
the time was moving very quickly. But as a fan,
I loved it. I had so much fun today.
Speaker 6 (27:10):
Well, shoot, there's there's a bunch to get to.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
I want to start with with one where you're talking
about some of the biggest hitters that were available, Eugeno
Suarez and Josh Naylor. Now with the Mariners who are
still in it, fun up. I think it's five to
five and a half half games back in their division
right now. But what are you making them getting some
big time sluggers right now? Is they're trying to make
a push. Because I know we just talked about the bullpen.
What about the other side, some folks getting hitters.
Speaker 5 (27:34):
I like the Seattle trade deadline a lot. And and
they added as you mentioned, Aohannio Suadez over his third base.
They added Josh Naylor at first base. They added Ferguson
to the bullpen. Uh, this is a team that it's
not just what they did at the deadline, but the
fact they now have a very healthy and effective group
(27:55):
of starting pitchers as well that they're now augmenting around
this offense. And I think too, and all of us
are as followup sports, we know what this feels like.
When your team makes a big push and invests in
the roster in a way that channels all this positivity
and confidence to the group. It's more than just the
(28:16):
impact of the production. It gives the entire organizations. If
you work in accounts payable and you show up tomorrow
and you're working for the Padres or the Mariners or
the Yankees of the Mats of the Phillies, you feel
really good because you've got some really just energetic people
who are joining your organization. So the Mariners, a team
that has never played in the World Series never, they
(28:39):
have got right now as good of a chance as anyone.
And I think in large part it is because of
the fact that there is not a single dominant team
in our sport right now. There are a lot of
really good teams, but there's no team that you say, oh,
my gosh, I can't believe I got to deal with
that team. Even the ball clubs that we saw playing
the World Series last year. We love the Dodgers and Yankees.
(28:59):
With playing in the World Series. It's great for marketing,
et cetera. But neither one of those two teams are
as good today as they were in October. The Yankees
got better today, but they're not dominant. And I think that,
actually it may sound funny, it's actually good for the
sport because Milwaukee thinks they can win, Cincinnati thinks they
can win, Detroit thinks they can win. And I'm seeing
(29:22):
a lot of positivity in all these different markets right now.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Our guests is John Morosi. Of course Fox Sports Radio
MLB inside you seem on MLB Network. John, I want
to ask you about Saturday in Bristol, Tennessee the MLB
Speedway game. There what eighty five thousand tickets have been sold.
I've seen the set up there on the racetrack. That's
(29:46):
going to be something. Who is at the Reds and
who am I thinking?
Speaker 5 (29:50):
The Reds the Braves. It's gonna be outstanding. I know
our network, MABE Network, is gonna have a big presence there,
it's history, but we want to see that moment where
they hopefully give the announcement. And this is the largest
crowd of people ever to watch a Major League game.
And remember years ago the Dodgers in Red Sox played
(30:11):
a bit of a homecoming game at the LA Coliseum.
If you remember that, that was two thousand and eight,
and of course the Dodgers originally played at the LA Coliseum.
So we have seen football like venues that are retro
fitted for baseball, and but this is going to be
We've never seen baseball played at this scale at a
NASCAR facility, and we know just how big Bristol Motor
(30:34):
Speedway is. It's an iconic American stadium and one that
I think the whole country is going to really enjoy
getting a chance to see this weekend. So I'm excited.
I'm not going I get a chance to watch it.
I've been on the road of Fairmount. I was in
Cooperstown over the weekend. So I get to be a
fan this weekend, and I love it. After an exciting
Hall of Fame, exciting trade deadline, I get to be
(30:55):
a fan.
Speaker 12 (30:56):
On Saturday night.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
So when the manager says that to starting pitchers on fumes.
It'll really be work fitting right there.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
That's right, gentlemen, start your engines, get ready to go.
It's gonna be a lot of fun. I think I
get baseball a lot of credit because they've taken the
game now to different spots, whether it's Fort Bragg years ago,
whether it's the Field of Dreams that they've been really
creative about going to different spots with the game. And
I just I believe that the Commissioner's Office and the
(31:27):
union together have done a really good job of growing
the game.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
No, but there you have a Me and Rob have
talked about that, you know, the the nice I don't
want to say run, but definitely renaissance for sure. So
it's been great to see. We've been enjoying it. John,
appreciate you as always, man.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Thanks so much, really appreciate it. Happy at trade deadline today,
Happy Hall of Fame games tonight as well. What a
great time for sports all the way around.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
That's right, we're getting back to when everything's going on baseball, basketball, football,
We're getting closer and closer.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
John Morossi.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
There, of course, John Rossi going x give him a
follow Fox Sports Ready MLB insider. All right, we got
Cheko City on the way, but also going to tell
you that it is Miracle Treat Day at DQ, which

were doing. It's the odd couple Fox Sports Radio, Rob Parker,
Kelvin Washington on the TV themes so on Thursday, clean
up on all six. Yeah, Rob is too excited right now?
(33:06):
You already know how you are about your anything below.
Speaker 12 (33:09):
Call me.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
They used to call me Peter Parker and Junior high
school did they? They did? And Bob Barker when I
was in elementary school, Come on down.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Bob Barker would mean you had too much wag.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Because the videos we get to see him now, I
don't think Bob would kept his job two years nowadays.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Bob was a hound.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Yeah, Bob was out of line. One of my favorite
ones that told you is a lady. Obviously she's behind
the things. She says, the number, she wins it, she says,
come on up. He says, my, oh my, you were
hiding things. Bob, You gotta relax. Bob was out of line.
Speaker 5 (33:43):
All right.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
It is Miracle Treat Day at DQ, which means one
dollar or more from every Blizzard treat is donating to
your local members Hospital, Children's Miracle Networks Hospital. Blizzard treats
are even sweeter when they support kids who needed most DQ.
Happy taste good. It's time now for Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Welcome to Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parker's
daily dix against the scrap.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
All right, not a good night on Shekel City, really
bad night, oh and three last night? Yeah, not good.
Speaker 6 (34:22):
I needed Alex, I need it.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Hello Darkness, Oh man, why are you gonna do all that?
I can't be great every night?
Speaker 6 (34:30):
I let the one go. One is Carr, you know,
I get it. And oh and three, you gotta get
the Hello Darkness.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Two got a tissue for me.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Two teams won, but they just didn't cover the points.
You know, I was wrong? Yes, all right tonight you
are he recking like Gil with Arenas. So now that's right. No,
I'm not that crazy. Yeah, no, no, everything's good. I
didn't do anything, Okay, I do. I just rented the
house exactly, thank you.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
One eighty and one eighty seven, So, oh and three
last night one eighty and one of these seven seven
games on the five on and tonight you know, today's
Thursday getaway. So a lot of teams didn't play. So
there's only one game that's coming up left. So we're
only gonna pick that one game tonight, okay, And that
is I got the Texas Rangers plus one and a
half runs in Seattle against the Mariners. So the Rangers
(35:18):
plus one and a half runs taking on well, they
you know, they loaded up, so I think they think
the Marina is gonna roll. They're only five games over
five were just like Texas anyway. Remember, I'm not telling
you who to bet on. I'm telling you who I
bet on.
Speaker 6 (35:36):
Did you see that story about Messi getting suspended?
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Yes, yeah, finally the MLS did something right.
Speaker 6 (35:45):
They're not like you be tapped in.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
I'm tapped in with them, like dude was a commissioner.
Great job, MLS. So what good you got anything to say?
Because I'm with the MLS. I with the MLS because
you know what, it's your respe reponsibility as a player
to sell the game. That's what the All Star Game
is all about. He's not bigger than the game. He
(36:07):
can't skip the All Star Game. And you got to
make an example of him, and they suspended him from
missing the All Star Game. And I'm with lockstep with
the MLS.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
I'm not I get the promise, except for there are
always exceptions to the rules.
Speaker 6 (36:23):
You know that Messi is an exception.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
To that, except not to he's supposed to be at
the All Star Game. People are paid money. See here
you go. You are your typical high brow. You don't
pay for tickets, so you have what you have? No,
you have no regard for people who want to see
Messi at thed that might be the only chance to
see him play in person. It might be, and for
(36:49):
him to skip out is an injustice to the soccer fans,
a who paid tickets, paid money for tickets and beat
a watch. You cannot do that and allow players to
be rogue and go against what's important.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
I'm sorry, then no Messy again.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
In principal, I think I hear what you're saying, but
him specifically and specifically in this league, when him coming
to this league was just helping build up the MLS
and continue to grow it because he's already the biggest
in the world.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
I think there's somebody and sometimes you just.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Say, you can't five hundred dollars for tickets. Don't don't
tell me, you don't tell me.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
You know, but why But I'm going to see him
at a game, second exhibition because he could have been
there and just Wade Ron showed up to the All
Star Game and his services went and just my point,
but this happens all the time. Also, it doesn't happen
all the time.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
Just show up and they just play.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
They play.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I'm saying, guys show up and they're there and they
might not play, or they'll tell you how I kind
of wave, I'll come out do a ceremonial way.
Speaker 6 (37:53):
They don't. They don't often don't always have to play.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
They always play. Come on, man, when you don't play,
it's a to disrespect.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
All Star All Star game is an exhibition game where
it's a gamble. You're just there to see it and
have fun. And really All Star games are mostly corporated.
You know, it's like a super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
A lot of the tickets go, half of them go
to the fans who are in that city, who go,
and they want to see their favorite players. Like, stop dissing.
If you gave fans a chance to recoup their money
if their stars didn't play, I guarantee you they'd all play,
because you have to start giving money back.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Well to play well, the owners would make them play.
The players still wouln't want to play, depending on whatever
the situation. Come on, I don't know now, Rob, I
don't know if I mean story, if I missed that,
if he if he his reasoning, Rob, you're.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
A soccer fan, aren't you.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Got to be?
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Ras is?
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Because you didn't ask, Rob, you didn't say are you
a soccer fan. You said you're one, aren't you? I
don't like soccer?
Speaker 3 (39:01):
How do you like that?
Speaker 6 (39:01):
How do you like? You like basketball? You're black?
Speaker 3 (39:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (39:06):
Rob, I got this giant watermelon.
Speaker 7 (39:07):
Would you like a piece?
Speaker 6 (39:08):
Hold on, wait, you had to go too far? You
know what I do have?
Speaker 3 (39:12):
When Alex brodey, it looks great?
Speaker 1 (39:13):
About to say it look key? Alex has had every
color of the rainbow watermelon up in there.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
And ain't you know what I asked Alex earlier? Is
that a watermelon in his pocket? Or is he just
happy to see us?
Speaker 6 (39:24):
Well, he's always happy to see you. He loves seeing you,
Aaron Judge. He's excited to see you, Aaron Judge. I
should have roast about his text messages too,
