Report of the NFL network over the weekend where they
were talking about, you know, Michael Parsons the next guy
to get paid. Everyone knows that, We've talked about it
for two years now. So the NFL network said, yes,
their plan is still to make him the highest paid
defensive player in NFL history, but there are quote internal
discussions to be had about his future with the team,

which for codeword means either we're gonna make him the
highest paid defender ever or we're gonna trade him for
a king's ransom and we got to decide which we're
gonna do at some point next few weeks. So that
obviously set off some firestorm. CD Lamp started to comment
on it, and it was a big thing up until the
Super Bowl took place. So last night, MICHAEH. Parsons is

of getting in trouble, instead of being like, man, let
me learn my lesson, let me grow at me lock in,

it's time to lock back in on football, he's actually
being reinforced and saying, man, I'm doing great work, so
much so that I got a big outlet to throw
me at bag. So why is he gonna listen to Kelvin?
Why is he gonna listen to Rob and stop when
I'm getting more money? So it's again, man, it's just,
it's certain things you just don't have to just because
you can doesn't mean should.

But if I was a team owner, I want you
to be committed to me for those four months. I

I'm not saying that he's not working out. I'm not
saying he's not hitting the weights, he's not doing what

star players team, dang didn't even mention me. Now it's
little and you know you've covered you covered these leagues

Luca lately as opposed to moving on. The trade's done,

make sense to people when it still won't make sense.
And he's talking about how Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson
and Larry Bird and Kobe the greats, they all maintained

the level of professions and they stayed in shape. And
he is just finding a way to keep talking about
Luca and if Luke of your ex, why you.

keep talking about them, and to me, the way they're

At least, right And as to me, as long as
they're not profaned, you know you people and stuff like that,
well they're not doing that stuff. And the only thing

when you know, the New Jersey Nets moved to Brooklyn,
and I don't know, I'm not comparing it, but it's
just like I felt away when I was a kid,
you know, even when J Kid was on the Nets
and he got traded. I was mad at J Kid
for a while as a young fan, you know what
I mean. Like, you know, it's just it's just part
of the human nature and his journey in the NBA
business and the NBA lifestyle, and also just the connectivity
engagement we have with the fans.

He's a great player. I don't even think there's any
dispute about that. It's just that, hopefully, if you're the Lakers,
whatever reason that the Mavericks wanted to move on, it
doesn't Weird's ugly head here and there's a lot of
stuff swirling around, which I'm not talking about, but I'm
just saying, you don't give up a guy like that
at twenty five or international star unless there's something there

that you're just not happy with or want to discuss.

Well, that is fair that that's going to be a process,
But I think it's a really good starting point that
you have Lucas scoring brilliant, his playmaking, the fact that
I think that he and Lebron are going to coexist
well together. Look, there's going to be a lot of
quot uestions about what are the right roster combinations. Can
the Lakers, you know, find a center after this whole
Williams trade gotten old? You know, they got Alex Yen.

But he's not a he's not a game changer. But
when it comes to how Luca will perform, I don't
think it's a really cause for concern. Same thing with
the Lebron dynamic. They're both two playmaking players, and you know,
Lebron want to defer to D'Angel Russell and uh and

Russell Westbrook because he didn't trust their decision making. I
think Luca has a better track record than that who
plays defense.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
But those two out there, Yeah, that's a fair question.

They got to get they got to beef up their
front corp. But what I'm saying is it's a really
nice starting point to have, uh, you know, two generational
talents that are really good at scoring and passing, and
also having a generational talent that's twenty five years old,
like his his ceiling is going to continue to get higher.

with Austin is his game has gone to a better

that's increased his opportunities to get more shots, more touches.
But I think that you've also seen that he understands
that he has to be the third best player on

the team for this to work. It's not going to
be about, Okay, Lebron, another co star and a collection
of role players. Even though Austin is still a role player.
He has to consistently every night be that third best
player on the team, and I think that he'll sustain that. Now, again,
this doesn't mean Lakers are championship favors. The Oklahoma City

Thunder are such a complete team. There's so many questions
on where they can be defensively. But again, from a
chemistry standpoint, an offensive standpoint, the Lakers have been really,
really good.

I think ironically, in the short term, you were going
to see it. You're going to see a better effort
and a better show in the All Star Game, partly

because of this format. You know, you have the international
stars against the young Stars, the oj against the rising stars.
But that's a short term fix. You may recall when
they did the whole that Uh initiative in honor of
Kobe Bryant to reach a target score. You saw better competition.

Competition, but it fizzled out. So the reality is, after
this season, can the NBA All Stars sustain itself? And
the only solution is they got to actually care about
the game. And you know in recent history we've seen
that they happen.

But the bottom line is this, Calvin Robb, I don't
know what's more of a lost cause long term expected
the All Star Game is going to be relevant or

discussions to be had about his future with the team,

And he's talking about how Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson
and Larry Bird and Kobe the greats, they all maintained

he is just finding a way to keep talking about

and I don't know, I'm not comparing it, but it's
just like I felt away when I was a kid,
you know, even when J Kid was on the Nets
and he got traded. I was mad at J Kid
for a while as a young fan, you know what
I mean. Like, you know, it's just it's just part
of the human nature and his journey in the NBA
business and the NBA lifestyle, and also just the connectivity
engagement we have with the fans.

Articulated that, well, like that, he gets it. Luca was
their guy. Why wouldn't they be upset?

Well, that is fair that that's going to be a process,
But I think it's a really good starting point that
you have Lucas scoring brilliant, his playmaking, the fact that
I think that he and Lebron are going to coexist
well together. Look, there's going to be a lot of
quot uestions about what are the right roster combinations. Can
the Lakers, you know, find a center after this whole
Williams trade gotten old? You know, they got Alex Yen.

But he's not a he's not a game changer. But
when it comes to how Luca will perform, I don't
think it's a really cause for concern. Same thing with
the Lebron dynamic. They're both two playmaking players, and you know,
Lebron want to defer to D'Angel Russell and uh and

Russell Westbrook because he didn't trust their decision making. I
think Luca has a better track record than that who
plays defense.

But those two out there, Yeah, that's a fair question.

They got to get they got to beef up their
front corp. But what I'm saying is it's a really
nice starting point to have, uh, you know, two generational
talents that are really good at scoring and passing, and
also having a generational talent that's twenty five years old,
like his his ceiling is going to continue to get higher.

Mar Is, I guess a couple Robin Kelvin stay there
for a minute for me. What has Austin Reeve's been
on lately?

When he has just been on fire, He's starting to

Look, I'm not going to annoint him All Star status,
so don't worry, Rob. But what I'm getting at here
with Austin is his game has gone to a better
level because D'Angel Russell is on the team. You know,
that's increased his opportunities to get more shots, more touches.
But I think that you've also seen that he understands
that he has to be the third best player on

the team for this to work. It's not going to
be about, Okay, Lebron, another co star and a collection
of role players. Even though Austin is still a role player.
He has to consistently every night be that third best
player on the team, and I think that he'll sustain that. Now, again,
this doesn't mean Lakers are championship favors. The Oklahoma City

Thunder are such a complete team. There's so many questions
on where they can be defensively. But again, from a
chemistry standpoint, an offensive standpoint, the Lakers have been really,
really good.

and a better show in the All Star Game, partly

because of this format. You know, you have the international
stars against the young Stars, the oj against the rising stars.
But that's a short term fix. You may recall when
they did the whole that Uh initiative in honor of
Kobe Bryant to reach a target score. You saw better competition.

Competition, but it fizzled out. So the reality is, after
this season, can the NBA All Stars sustain itself? And
the only solution is they got to actually care about
the game. And you know in recent history we've seen
that they happen.

But the bottom line is this, Calvin Robb, I don't
know what's more of a lost cause long term expected
the All Star Game is going to be relevant or
competitive or hoping that Rob Parker actually pays up on
