Speaker 2 (00:23):
Let's get this, Pudd, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
That's right, do not adjust your dial.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
It is Martin White and Alex Monico here for Rob
Parker and Calvin Washington on The Odd Couple, Hour number
two on a trash talking Tuesday, getting ready to about
forty five minutes to line up who your trash and
you give us a call and jump in on that
like you do every Tuesday. I already have a few
in mind, and Monico was over there asking me in
the breakway, Wait.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
How does this work?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Because I have so many people I want to trash.
I'm not sure that ten minutes is enough time so
many people, Aaron, just wait, Oh, baseball trade deadline has
a ton of trash. But you know what a standing
ovation right now for the triple A twins pounding.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
The type ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Take that for data exactly right, trade Dell who said
we were giving up.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
All right, so let's move back to the NFL, because.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Training camp is essentially one of like the biggest moments
of the honeymoon stage of each team. Everybody's undefeated, everybody's
winning the Super Bowl except for the Tennessee Titans. I
don't know if you saw that last week where they're
head coach and GM was asked by a reporter, do
you think the team that you're putting out there can
win the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
And they were like, why are you asking me?
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Like we just had the number one overall pick, Like
we're it's like, our goal is to get better every day, buddy,
Like all right, all right, And so to that point
of getting better every day, but also to the point
of singing high, high praises. Sean Payton is not necessarily
one to keep his mouth shut when he's got a
(02:09):
strong opinion. I would say like that, And right now
my man is singing like a Dell int a Vegas
residency about his team and about how much he loves
just about how much he loves his team, saying earlier
this year, I'm saying he thought he had seven teams
in his career that he thought at a real shot
to win the Super Bowl, and he thinks that this
(02:31):
is one of them.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Right, he thinks that.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Both said Boknicks could be a top five quarterback in
this league.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Oh yeah, he's like he is. Was that a sponsored
segment the.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Praises of the Denver Broncos in a way that some
of the most fervent defenders of bo Nicks on Twitter.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Have never done. I am in shambles.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Let's start with this is a man who was very
good on television.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
What does that tell you?
Speaker 5 (02:57):
If he's a head coach and he's good on television,
he's probably an above average salesman. I degree, I'm staring
at a fifty six QBR and I have my contacts
in a fifty six QBR. More in in a top
three defense from last year? What about bo Knicks? Has
you ready to run through a wall?
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (03:18):
By the way, it was the Van Wilder a Callee
throwback from the millennials there.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Meaning he was in college. He's twenty five, He's gonna
run a car. Hey, I also did five years in college.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Bownicks did more than that. But I say he's one
of the few people's in college longer than me. But
what you asked me, what is it about bow Knicks
that has me feeling bullish on the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Please convince me. I'm an AFC west born and razor.
I already lost a football team in the division. You
can't hurt me anymore.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Honestly, what has me feeling this way is the way
that the head coach talks about the quarterback from.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Day one.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
And I said on these very airwaves, standing in this
very tear, maybe this very microphone potentially probably didn't upgrade.
I said after the draft, Sean Payton just took the
sixth quarterback off the board with the fifteenth pick.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Either he's a madman or this is really bad man like.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Either he's got a whole plan, he knows what he's doing,
because here's just like six quarterbacks in the first round.
I raised my eyebrow in general, because I'm having trouble
believing that you're gonna find a sixth quarterback better than
the seventeenth best or twenty first best whatever and twenty
(04:50):
fifth best player that you drafted in the first round.
I think there's probably better players than the sixth beth quarterback. Right,
You're probably reaching the I don't know who Tyler Schuck
was the the third quarterback taking this year, and the
next positive reporting out of training camp for him will
be the first.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Right, he looks like he's throwing with the wrong arm.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
So like generally, if you're not at the top, I'm
expecting there to be a you know, a distilled down
of the talent. And when you're seeing I'm saying five
first round quarterbacks before.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Okay, well, let me ask you this.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Because you are a New Orleans Saints born and raised diehard,
you have seen this movie before. What shades of Sean
and Drew gives you the same confidence and conviction that
Sean's doing the same thing with ball.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
That I'm not aware of.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's not necessarily the shades of Sean and Drew. It
is not that, okay. What it is is something that
I first heard from Eric Dickerson.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
And then it got reported out more freak more relatives.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Eric Dickerson told me that Sam Mills told him, former
New Orleans Says linebacker that Sean Peyton was going to
take Patrick Mahomes with the twelfth pick in the draft,
and Andy reading the Buffalo Bill, traded up with the
Buffalo Bills to get him, Saint Angels drafting Markshawn Lattimore,
(06:16):
who was a really, really good player for a really
long time. I agree, right, probably a Saints ring of
the type of guy right and Mark Evans's worst nightmare.
But we were this close to Patrick Mahomes and Sean Payton,
and so I heard that and was just as a
Saints fan, just.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Just crushed devastating.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Today today I heard Seth Wickersham on Colin cow heard
show say something that made the hair on the back
of my neck stand up.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Here. It is.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
When Seawanyon was first looking to replace Drew Brees in
twenty seventeen, he came up with this formula again to
try to understand processing, and Patrick had a great score
on it, and he was gonna pick Patrick. Obviously, the
Chiefs traded up with Buffalo took him away, but he
kept the same analytics formula and when he used it
this time around, bo Nix's score was the very best
(07:22):
since Patrick Mahomes's. The formula that he developed, he had
a lot of confidence in it, and I think a
lot of that had to do with Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
I'm not saying now, Old Bow Nix's Patrick Mahomes. All
I'm saying is this, Sean Payton believes in that man.
And the way that the reports are coming out of
Broncos camp, it's a lot of positivity and a lot
of positivity from a lot of different angles. Right, It's
a lot of people talking big about how good the
(07:53):
Broncos have been. I love Nick Mondo. They got the
best corner in the game on the backside. I like
that a lot. You get Greenlawunga. I'm not expecting bow
Knicks to come out here and turn into Patrick Mahomes.
What I'm saying is this, I have seen Sean Payton
fall in love before he fell in love with Drew Brees.
He fell in love with Taysom Hill. I've seen bow
(08:13):
Knicks play quarterback. He already better than Taysom Hill. Sean
sometimes has a wandering eye in terms of he may
fall in love with the wrong one. The reports feel
like bo Knicks for all of his warts. I know
he could run a car.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
I know that. You know said he could run for
president probably, I'll just kidding.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
In terms of the age he's older, I don't need
I'm not worried about when the long term ratification.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
I'm talking about the next seventeen games.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
I like this Broncos team, and I like bow Knicks,
and I like Sean Payton, and I like the way
that he likes his team.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
How much of them being in maybe the best well
coached division with a case for the best four quarterbacks,
I think they can make a case in the entire
division would cause me maybe not just a oh, they're
just gonna inc another wild card. I think in that
particular division you gotta go out and get it again
(09:07):
again and again. And the AFC I feel, got a
lot better and healthy.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I would say this.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
It had me at work today trying to figure out,
can four teams from one division make the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Oh? Please? Can it possibly happen? At four teams from
one division make the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Because I do think that we're I think as we
sit August fifth, we're looking at a three big league
in the AFC West.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Well, as we sit on August fifth, our guy bo here.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
No double digit and interceptions, Martin eighteenth in QBR and
not top ten in yards, and again, you gotta give
them a ton a ton of leeway because he's a rookie,
albeit twenty five year old rookie, but fifth best quarterback
in the NFL. We did the top ten, didn't the.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Herbert or listen, listen, listen.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
When your girlfriend asked you, honey, how do I look
in this dress? You tell her you're the most beautiful
woman in the world.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
We all know the truth, but you mean it though
you know what I mean, mean it. You know the truth,
but you mean it though, right, you.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Mean you're not necessarily saying that if I was stacking
up one verse one hundred supermodels from the Miss Universe
pageant and you in this dress, that you will win.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
But for me, you're my Miss Universe.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
So you're saying, Sean Payton is just this is but
this is back to my salesman angle. Is he being sincere.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Or Seth Wickersham said it? He said.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Seth Wickersham said that the formula that Shawn Peyton had
that told him that Patrick Mahomes was going to be
the guy.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
I'm telling you remember that draft from think about it.
Don't think now.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Obviously it's easy to remember now because Patrick Mahomes' is like, oh,
you know whom I went through the Super Bowls, go
to five whatever, No, I know it's easy to think
about now, go back to that draft.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
It was far from a.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Consensus that Patrick Mahomes was a number one level pick,
a number one overall pick. In fact, he wasn't. He
was the eleventh overall pick. And that just goes to
show you. And Mahomes didn't even come out and start
as first fifteen or so games that I believe his
first start was against these same Denver Broncos in a
meetingless week sixteen game until he played sixteen games at
(11:31):
the time.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
I'm gonna just go out on the way la Senate Monico.
But Martin the guy didn't.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Even get wrapped his arms around by the same collegiate program.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
He got bounced. He had to go find another home
and find another home. I need to see it again.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
I'm not saying he can't win a ten and seven
Denver Broncos program inca seven seed and get back in
the dance. Go to Buffalo, get bounce in the first round. Look,
he's nowhere near a top five quarterback in the NFL.
The nice thing is it's a top three. It's a
top three Denver two from last year that added pieces.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
So it has to be.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Factored counterpoint, did a top five quarterback in the NFL
just win the Super Bowl this year?
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Survey says, can we call Cam Newton real quick? But
I'm just out, do you see what I.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Look?
Speaker 3 (12:27):
I like where you're going with it? I see where
you're going with I'm just did a top five quarterback
win the Super Bowl this year? Hello?
Speaker 1 (12:37):
No?
Speaker 3 (12:38):
They did? No, they didn't.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
But that's that's one of the most stacked rosters I've
ever seen in our millennial lives.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
So Broncos got two defensive Player of the Year candidate's
on the roster right now.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Nick Benito was like third in the league in sacks.
An certain won the damn thing.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
Suton and morphin mems are not aj Brown Davonte Smith
And I'm sorry running back?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Who say? Quad? Who are they on the cover in Denver?
Speaker 4 (13:02):
I can't interest you in a little. Devon Vley, twenty
seven year old rookie wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
I am.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
I am struggling on the depth chart to find look.
I do like the Evan Ingram pickup.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
I do a lot. I just think it's not a
stacked roster like Philly and so this team to be
in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
Conversation they may finish third in the division.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
They may finish.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Third, all right, But I say if they finished third
in the division, I still think they make the playoffs,
all right.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I think that. I think we're looking The AFC West
is a three team league this year.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
That's that's a fair I think three team league this year?
And this is do you want to hear the real
I need it. No, I'm gonna break this one out.
See how many views this gets on social media. The
Broncos will finish higher in the AFC West than the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Well this year. Oh, I thought you were gonna say Chiefs.
For a second, I was waiting for it. So you
got Chiefs, Broncos, Chargers.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Eh, the Broncos will finish higher than the car Well,
I'll tell you who wins the division coming up in
a minute. But you know what, speaking of who wins
the division, this guy has been flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
All off season.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Guess what, buddy, I see you, and I'm about to
shine the spotlight on one guy who's just seemingly just nobody.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
I hope it's not who I think you're gonna say.
All right, that's coming up next.

Shipped fast and freeback by road, ads of protection, with
convenient installation options like mobile tire Insallation Tire iraq dot.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Com the way that tire buying should be.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
All right, So we just were talking about your boy
Van Wilder and bone Nick who's been who was in
college for a long, long.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Time, long time.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
I feel like Michael Pennix was in college for just
as long as Yeah, I feel like I was at
Michigan watching him play at Indiana.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I know that wasn't true, but it felt like, all right,
I got you. So I feel.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Personally that the Atlanta Falcons and Michael Penix have been
kind of flying under the radar here and I can't
really figure out why all.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
The attention it's on JJ McCarthy and Caleb Williams.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
I think Michael Penix needs to be getting a little
bit more attention as we're going through this. You know why,
I know all the attentions on JJ McCarthy and KAYLEB
Williams and not on Michael Pennix because several times this offseason,
Michael Penix has said in interviews, most recently this one
(16:39):
NFL on CVS posted with b Max Sports Talk Brian McFadden,
let's hear it.
Speaker 9 (16:46):
The skill level is there. You know, it's about you know,
making it happen.
Speaker 10 (16:49):
Now.
Speaker 9 (16:49):
You know, we the ones that's out there on the field.
You know, coaches gonna call call the place for us
to you know, be great, and we got to go
out there and do it. And I can see those
guys doing each and every day and man, it's on,
it's on, gonna continue to get better by the time
week one to come. I can see us on the
roll and we we should not should stop us from
being the best offense in the.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
League now, like maybe like a one off or just
like rote confidence. I just something about the way it
seems to be very Just like if Caleb Williams was
saying we're gonna be the best offense in the league,
people would be like, oh, he's.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Lost his mine? What type of leadership is this? What
are we talking about?
Speaker 11 (17:29):
Right?
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Like like Michael Pennis is just out here talking reckless
and they're not going to win the division.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Do you think.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Does he get any kind of a different way of
looking at things? Because he came in so late, took
over the Cousins role, was serviceable, and now I guess
atl fans are like, all right, we're gonna rally around him.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
There's a handful of ways to read that.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
No, I agree, Like to me, I thought it was
first of all, did not agree as most of the
Football America outside of Atlanta, Georgia think that it was
a good idea to both draft Michael Penix and pay
kirk Cousins. Right, But once you did it, you've done it,
(18:14):
and that's what you got. Michael Penix couldn't win the
job in camp. Kirk Cousins was, I mean, go watch
the Netflix. Not only was he okay, I mean he
was all right, but he also was hurt. He also
Kirk Cousins and not wearing college at the same time,
and I got more Achilles tendence than he does.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Then you watch him and he got hurt again against
the Saints. It still took kirk Cousins to go out
there and have three terrible, horrendous weeks of football, some
of the worst football play in his life. For Michael
Pennis to get up off the bench. Now I'm not saying,
I'm just saying, oh, unquestioned starter going in.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
I get that.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
JJ McCarthy was hurt all year and is now the
unquestioned sort of starter in Minnesota right now, right, That
was the plan all along, despite the Aaron Ryders call
just go with me here, right, But like Michael Pennis
not playing in the preseason, Okay.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
That goes against your theory an our one. You got it.
But when theyres have won this division for five years
in a row. I'm chalking it up for six.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
So where are you on the bon Knicks Irrational Top
five quarterback confidence Meter? In the Pennix quote, we're gonna
be the best offense. We got a shot at being
the best offense in the NFL by year's end.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
If Sean Payton was telling me about that, Michael Pennix,
I'd be listening different if Warren Buffett calls you to
the side and says, hey, Alex, open your robinhood, I
got one for you.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
You're gonna listen.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
Well, Romadons, they might have something to say out of
the PNW about this guy opening up the cannon and
delivering all the throws. Because Pennix does have that big
arm strength, he does have the ability to stretch the field.
And we'll be remiss if we don't count Drake London,
Kyle Pitts, just don't drop him in fantasy and b
(20:10):
John Robinson as at least viable threats to this.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
You saw, you saw Michael Pennix talking about Kyle Pitts.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
He said, draft him, he says, literally he goes, you know,
and after practice one day you saw throwing the Kyle
go keep doing that a lot, and I'm not look
Outlanders confidence, whatever it is, what it is, I just
think that we should be paying This is flying under.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
The radar to me. He started the last what five games?
Speaker 4 (20:39):
They have started five games, played in five games, started
the last three games, and I just.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
I what put it like this? Justin Herbert's first start.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
I was like, Oh, he's got it right. There was
no question about. I watched Herbert first started. Oh he's
got it. He's got this figured out.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
CJ.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Stroud first couple starts, Oh okay, Jade and Daniels first
few starts, Oh okay, Now Bo Nicks. It took about
first six or seven starts, you know what I'm saying.
But he figured it out, Like maybe Michael Pennix will
figure it out and be a top XYZ passer in
the league. But if you have to say, right now,
(21:21):
where does Michael Penis rank in the NFL quarterback.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Quick thinking between around twenty around the twentieth best quarterback
in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
And you're just saying that because this is what feels right.
It feels right.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
If this is psychological warfare, I do want my quarterback
going up there and saying those kinds of things. If
he believes it in his heart of hearts, it has
They're in the ring. They have no hesitation and time
and luxury to doubt their abilities. And I think we
might be understating. This guy took a dude's job who
(21:59):
got over one hundred million dollars again at the end
of the season with a division on the line.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
I think Pennix believes he is him, and that's the
thing we'll never know, and it may never matter, but
we say he took a dude's job. Kirk Cousins, I
feel like he got benched, and it makes me wonder
if Pennix had like was I think the prevailing thought
(22:29):
is that Pennix was good enough to play, and they
gave Cousins the money so they had to play them.
But I think also maybe he's just a little different.
Maybe the Russell Wilson Matt Flynn correlation is not one.
But we've seen teams give guys guaranteed money and say
you're on the bench because this guy's a better option.
That did not happen in Atlanta until Cousins was so
(22:52):
bad he could not play right. Like I'm not talking.
Russell Wilson won the job from Matt Flynn in camp
right right now. Daniel Jones just trying to beat Anthony
Richardson out in camp, right like, And maybe Pennis never
got a fair shot in camp. Maybe the Kirk Cousins
had a promise. Maybe he was just that much better.
But to somebody who we know, is that much better,
(23:15):
no question about it. Let's kick it over to Steve
the Seger.
Speaker 2 (23:18):

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Steve, you said Marvin Harrison Junior returned to practice.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Are you sure?
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Because all I have seen out of Cardinals camp is
him blanket hit fry Will Johnson blanket hit.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Where did Will Johnson go to school? I'd be the
University of Michigan.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Okay, Yeah, I love to see in the reports I
beat ryders Man, second round rookie cornerback. Will Johnson is
just blanketing Cardinals receivers out here. It's like, Well, if
you watch Michigan play Ohio State at any point in
the last two.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Three years, he was ain't known quantity. Let's put it that,
especially against one Marvin Harrison.
Speaker 6 (24:03):
Junior Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Oh there you go. You know you may have heard
of him if you watched any bigton ball. A lot
of fun at camp right there. I love that.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
By the way, we mentioned this yesterday, but with the
Coaches poll coming out yesterday, the AP preseason poll for
college football comes out next Monday. But for now, Texas
and Ohio State are one two and Texas is opening
at Ohio State. That's the first big noon game noon
Eastern time, Fox TV, August thirtieth.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Can't wait. I mean, honestly though, I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
And I'm actually very excited for college football to get
to a place.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
And I mean I grew up in SEC country, so.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
I do have a soft spot in my heart for
you know, the rivalry games mattering more between the hedges,
meaning more and all of that, and then also went
to college at the you know, the biggest rivalry in
college football, not sports.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
But I do like the fact that like Texas.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
And Ohio State can play for the national championship, I
can play Week one and obstensibly still play for.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
The national championship.
Speaker 6 (25:16):
I think it's a good thing as long as the
regular season still means something.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
It has to, I agree, But like, what because I
think we have gone too far the other way and
that like the regular season means so little that you
can schedule mercer in week eleven and that's just readily
accepted through the SEC that like, oh, okay, we're gonna
go from A and M to the Citadel to South Carolina,
(25:45):
Like like, what.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Are we doing here?
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Like I'm with playing your your quote unquote preseason college
football games early in the year.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Michigan will play Western Michigan or Eastern or Central.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Or something like Alabama Eastern Illinois, right.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
But they're not playing that game, you know, near Thanksgiving break.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
Alabama's got a home and home with Ohio State starting
up in a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
And so if we're missing oh watching Alabama baptize UAB
that in that Week twelve matchup to get this in.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
Week two, they're finally getting rid of that.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Yeah, okay, cool, And then I think what could possibly
be a not this year?
Speaker 6 (26:25):
They really got to commit to that Eastern Illinois matchup
that they signed with like a decade ago.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
I'm sure listen, the deal a deal exactly.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Anytime you make a deal with college that has produced
the likes of Tony Romo and Sewing Peyton, and people need.
Speaker 6 (26:38):
To realize, of course they are paying the visitors to
come get beat.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Which I learned is just a fascinating element of college football.
At Steve's point, I do.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
Recall when cal State Fullerton had a team. This goes
back a few years, but it was in the nineties.
They were scheduling LSU and Florida because it helped the
entire athletic department budget.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Yeah, looks.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
The coach goes into halftime our pre games. Listen, men,
we're gonna go out here. We're gonna do our best,
and the eleven players on the field at one time
will all be sacrificial lambs. So we can have girls
volleyball and men's bowling and a whole swim team. There
will be a swim team built off this fifty six
to fourteen loss. Remember that, men, don't worry about the
(27:26):
line that's thirty nine as Tyron Matthew is stepping over you,
as Heisman Trophy.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Candidates are just plowing through you.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
Remember that occasionally there are the upsets. The what was
at North Dakota State or you know, whoever plays Minnesota.
Sometimes the team gets paid to go there and still puts.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Up a shot. Apple, Ash and State the whole ultimate
Steve says, you know.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
That was in the early early days the Big ten
network even existing. That was their huge game in the
early days of them co owning essentially with Fox to
start the network. And what I remember most from that
game is not a not only that it was the
huge upset for App State on the road, but that
start running back Mike Hart was off the field, as
(28:10):
I recall, for both two point attempts, and they missed
two two point attempts and lost by one. It's like,
what are you doing here?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Listen? It didn't exactly cover themselves in glory that year.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
But the thing that I do find fascinating about that
Michigan team, they were nine to four, right, so it
wasn't a great team. You know, the last game they
played start of the year beating Apple, I mean losing
to Apple Ash State. Then the next week got baptized
by Oregon and Dennis Dennis.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Dixon is that an Oregon cornback Milwaukee deck character?
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Okay, Dennis Dixon, right, Okay, got annihilated by Dennis Dixon
and the Oregon Ducks. Just to go on that year
to beat none other then Tim Tebow in Florida and
Tim Tebow's last college game.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
So they started zero and two. They won every game
for the next couple of months, and then you know,
of course, did not beat Ohio State. Thanks were different back.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Then, yeah, way different, way different back then. I said
Tim Tebow's last college game.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
That was not true.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
It was Lloyd Carr's last college game. But beat Tim
Tebow in his last college game.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
It's a nice way to bounce back.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
And didn't hired Rich Rodriguez, which was an abject disaster
from day one, which also coincided with Martin Weiss's day.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
One walking into campus.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
So it was you, well, see the five years I
was at Michigan's I did an extra lap the five
years I was at Michigan by all metrics. I looked
this up, every single metric, points scored, points, al out yards,
allout yards, games, wins, everything, they were the worst it's
ever been the five years I was at Michigan.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
Wow, that's what our friend Petro says on the local
station in LA. I was captain of the worst UFC
football team ever because they I hapened to have finished
lasting conference.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
I believe at the end of his career.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
The only time that I my graduating class didn't see
it again, I did the victory lap. The only time
I saw Michigan beat Ohio State when I was still
paying tuition was a six and six Luke Fickle led
Ohio State under suspension for Terrell Pryor selling gold pants.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Hey, you know what I did, Steve. You know what
I did, Monica?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
It I stormed the field and took a picture because
the wind mattered all the same.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
I need to see that picture when you tell me
that Jim Harbaugh starts a decade ago, not there, No, No.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
That was my first year in Detroit media was when
Jim Harbaugh had his first year at the University of Michigan,
and I remember saying, man, what would it take for
him Harbaugh to leave this place? And I guess we
have found the answer, But I thought. I remember thinking
at the time they're so dug in on Jim Harbaugh
(31:01):
that he could literally kill a man and they would
hide the body like they would hide the body.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
Talk about a Michigan man being the Michigan coach. That
sounded like a lifetime appointment. I mean, he made it
less than a decade, but I think you and I
would have wagered that he would have been there longer
than that.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
I thought it was going to be a done deal. Hell, honestly,
after they won a national championship, I thought. He's also
surprising coming.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
Back the amount of money the Chargers have spent and
how different a franchise they are since they moved to LA,
especially the last five years. Absolutely they have opened their
own practice facility built by them themselves by the LA Airport.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Well yeah, as a as a.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
Aultimate, somebody who if he got fired today would actually
be hired by some other NFL team. That never happened before.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
I get it. And you know Chargers moved to LA.
I'm also an LA transplant.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
I moved here, I lost weight, I started getting more sun,
things started looking better.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
I'm not trashing the Charges, but maybe Alex Monico.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
Is maybe you are give us a call for trash
talking Twitter at eight seven, seven, nine, nine six three
six trash talking whatever, now you mess me up saying
the number you.
Speaker 12 (32:14):
Want to do it now, I'm now eighty seven seven
ninety nine off Fox seven.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Nine Talking Joes.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
Just let you know I can't read this number thirty
six is and nine?
Speaker 3 (32:22):
What am I supposed to do here? A seven seven
niney nine off Fox. I'm trash to Rob J Did
I do that? Hey?
Speaker 2 (32:30):
It's trash Talking Tuesday on the odd couple. Get those
cans to the curve.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
It's your time to give us your call on the
be here and trash on a trash Talking Tuesday. Martin
Weiss and Alex Monico in for Rob Parker and Calvin
Washington aking e stiff back Joyce not cooperating.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Some days your body just like nope.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
And on those days, luckily there's a leave for just
one pill of leave provides up to twelve hours of
pain relief so you can keep moving.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Use as directed.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
I've already trashed Rob G for interrupting me as I
was trying to deliver a wonderful tease, which is maybe
why we only have one call here. Let's go ahead,
get started with trash talking Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
We're talking about me.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
It's trash talking Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
It's your tea, Dreggy. I don't know whether to smile.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Lets you kick a field, go man, all right, it's
trash talking Tuesday, Monico. This is the time where callers
will call in and trash somebody or something, somebody in
the world of sports.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Let's go ahead and start with Butch in California. Butch,
who are you trashing?
Speaker 11 (34:06):
And it's a Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Well, I saw my friend.
Speaker 11 (34:10):
Well, uh two, it's both kind of random. One is
Howard Cosell and the other one is Ricky Waters.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
The fact that the fact they're in there, No they're not.
Speaker 11 (34:23):
Okay that what they haven't they haven't let them in.
It's crazy, Howard Cosell, I buy the Bricky Waters. You've
got over ten thousand yards rushing, he's got like ninety touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
It's crazy, I think in general.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Thanks for the call, but we have to have justice
for running backs and just in the memories of the NFL,
especially now as things are chopping down and I also
can agree that how with Kelsell is one of the
people that made me want to do sports talk radio
because my mom gave me the CD when I was
a kid with all these different, you know, famous calls
(34:59):
and stuff, and I I remember hearing him, was like,
That's one of the coolest voices I've ever.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Heard in my entire life. I like it.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Bush's spot on the Howard Coast selfing is perplexing.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
It doesn't make any sense. Orlando and El Paso, who
you trashing?
Speaker 10 (35:16):
Hey, guys, I'm trushing my brother, se Mart, se Mart,
What do you do? Man? In my bro He's hating
big time on Sdor Sanders man big time. I don't
understand it. You know, the guys just trying to go
out there, play his game, do his best to make
the roster. But the biggest travesty here is the fact
that the Browns are clown franchise because what they did
(35:38):
with DeShawn Watson and the fact that Dylan Gabriel, please please,
he is not better than Shador Sanders in his universe
or in another unknown universe.
Speaker 11 (35:49):
Give me a break, thanks, guys.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
You got it. Orlando.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
First of all, this conspiracy theory surrounding one Shandor Sanders fascinating.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
I gotta love brother or something.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
Yeah, brother's battling over Shadur at the table, Pass me
the lasagna, and how do you have Dylan Gabriel over Shadur?
Speaker 4 (36:08):
I do have to say this, Shador Sanders. Since being drafted,
mind you, that has been I don't know, a handful
of weeks, not very long since being drafted, save two
speeding tickets, which something not nothing, but not everything either. Right,
(36:31):
everything he's done at work has been very above board.
Seems like exactly what you're looking for out of not
only a quarterback but also a late round pick.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Right.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
I don't want my dad to come. I'm not at
the place where I want him to be there, Like
I'm not. I'm not there yet, I'm not. I don't
want him there for two reps at a time. I
want to get to my spot, man.
Speaker 5 (36:53):
I want to be the best version of myself, which
kind of seems like he was wanting to work towards
before his dad comes to practice.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Which I like, Rob j who you trashing I'm trashing
Lebron James.
Speaker 12 (37:05):
Oh yeah, because Luka Doncic after he signed his contract
first thing. He says in broken English, I think we
got plenty to win a championship. I think we got plenty.
I think we can do it. Why hasn't Lebron said
that once in twenty years he's been here. It's always, well,
we need a big man, we need a shoot her.
We don't got liber He's got excuse after, excused after.
(37:26):
That's why I'm so glad that the Lebron era is
closing momentarily here in Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Counterpoint, Lebron never had Lebron on his team. Maybe that's
why Luca feels that way. That's why he should trash
me in reverse. I've already can't just respond to the take.
That's not how it works. I've already trashed you enough.
Today I'm trashing barn Weis now I changed my X name.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
Can we trash the overall Lakers element that this could
be turned around before he leave?
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Sure? I want to get in that camp. So you
want to throw the idea that the Lakers can turn
it around with Lebron and Luca in the trash? Now
I'm confused. I'm just a California kid that recycles Martin.
I'm just a California kid that recycled.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
Listen, and speaking of recycling, the people that know Alex
Monico know he's about to just recycle another take from
last year that cost him real live money.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Oh man, he's gonna do it again. Listen. They do
it well for us here at Foxworth Radio, but not
so well. You can just throw away your money at this.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Well.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
Look if I take if I have to cook for
my girlfriend and I'll take her out in New York
again because of this word hot water.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
So maybe you could talk some sense in the me.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Hey, this guy got married. Maybe that's a sign for you.
We'll see coming up next
