Training camp is essentially one of like the biggest moments
of the honeymoon stage of each team. Everybody's undefeated, everybody's
winning the Super Bowl except for the Tennessee Titans. I
don't know if you saw that last week where they're
head coach and GM was asked by a reporter, do
you think the team that you're putting out there can
win the Super Bowl?

And they were like, why are you asking me?
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Like we just had the number one overall pick, Like
we're it's like, our goal is to get better every day, buddy,
Like all right, all right, And so to that point
of getting better every day, but also to the point
of singing high, high praises. Sean Payton is not necessarily
one to keep his mouth shut when he's got a

strong opinion. I would say like that, And right now
my man is singing like a Dell int a Vegas
residency about his team and about how much he loves
just about how much he loves his team, saying earlier
this year, I'm saying he thought he had seven teams
in his career that he thought at a real shot
to win the Super Bowl, and he thinks that this

is one of them.

If he's a head coach and he's good on television,
he's probably an above average salesman. I degree, I'm staring
at a fifty six QBR and I have my contacts
in a fifty six QBR. More in in a top
three defense from last year? What about bo Knicks? Has
you ready to run through a wall?

of the few people's in college longer than me. But
what you asked me, what is it about bow Knicks
that has me feeling bullish on the Broncos.

Honestly, what has me feeling this way is the way
that the head coach talks about the quarterback from.

very tear, maybe this very microphone potentially probably didn't upgrade.
I said after the draft, Sean Payton just took the
sixth quarterback off the board with the fifteenth pick.

Either he's a madman or this is really bad man like.

Either he's got a whole plan, he knows what he's doing,
because here's just like six quarterbacks in the first round.
I raised my eyebrow in general, because I'm having trouble
believing that you're gonna find a sixth quarterback better than
the seventeenth best or twenty first best whatever and twenty

fifth best player that you drafted in the first round.
I think there's probably better players than the sixth beth quarterback. Right,
You're probably reaching the I don't know who Tyler Schuck
was the the third quarterback taking this year, and the
next positive reporting out of training camp for him will
be the first.

Right, he looks like he's throwing with the wrong arm.

So like generally, if you're not at the top, I'm
expecting there to be a you know, a distilled down
of the talent. And when you're seeing I'm saying five
first round quarterbacks before.

Because you are a New Orleans Saints born and raised diehard,
you have seen this movie before. What shades of Sean
and Drew gives you the same confidence and conviction that
Sean's doing the same thing with ball.

It's not necessarily the shades of Sean and Drew. It
is not that, okay. What it is is something that
I first heard from Eric Dickerson.

Buffalo Bills to get him, Saint Angels drafting Markshawn Lattimore,

who was a really, really good player for a really
long time. I agree, right, probably a Saints ring of
the type of guy right and Mark Evans's worst nightmare.
But we were this close to Patrick Mahomes and Sean Payton,
and so I heard that and was just as a
Saints fan, just.

Today today I heard Seth Wickersham on Colin cow heard
show say something that made the hair on the back
of my neck stand up.

When Seawanyon was first looking to replace Drew Brees in
twenty seventeen, he came up with this formula again to
try to understand processing, and Patrick had a great score
on it, and he was gonna pick Patrick. Obviously, the
Chiefs traded up with Buffalo took him away, but he
kept the same analytics formula and when he used it
this time around, bo Nix's score was the very best

since Patrick Mahomes's. The formula that he developed, he had
a lot of confidence in it, and I think a
lot of that had to do with Patrick Mahomes.

I'm not saying now, Old Bow Nix's Patrick Mahomes. All
I'm saying is this, Sean Payton believes in that man.
And the way that the reports are coming out of
Broncos camp, it's a lot of positivity and a lot
of positivity from a lot of different angles. Right, It's
a lot of people talking big about how good the

Broncos have been. I love Nick Mondo. They got the
best corner in the game on the backside. I like
that a lot. You get Greenlawunga. I'm not expecting bow
Knicks to come out here and turn into Patrick Mahomes.
What I'm saying is this, I have seen Sean Payton
fall in love before he fell in love with Drew Brees.
He fell in love with Taysom Hill. I've seen bow

Knicks play quarterback. He already better than Taysom Hill. Sean
sometimes has a wandering eye in terms of he may
fall in love with the wrong one. The reports feel
like bo Knicks for all of his warts. I know
he could run a car.

In terms of the age he's older, I don't need

I think they can make a case in the entire

just gonna inc another wild card. I think in that
particular division you gotta go out and get it again

a number one overall pick. In fact, he wasn't. He

show you. And Mahomes didn't even come out and start

first start was against these same Denver Broncos in a
meetingless week sixteen game until he played sixteen games at

No, I agree, Like to me, I thought it was
first of all, did not agree as most of the
Football America outside of Atlanta, Georgia think that it was
a good idea to both draft Michael Penix and pay
kirk Cousins. Right, But once you did it, you've done it,

and that's what you got. Michael Penix couldn't win the
job in camp. Kirk Cousins was, I mean, go watch
the Netflix. Not only was he okay, I mean he
was all right, but he also was hurt. He also
Kirk Cousins and not wearing college at the same time,
and I got more Achilles tendence than he does.

Then you watch him and he got hurt again against
the Saints. It still took kirk Cousins to go out
there and have three terrible, horrendous weeks of football, some
of the worst football play in his life. For Michael
Pennis to get up off the bench. Now I'm not saying,
I'm just saying, oh, unquestioned starter going in.

JJ McCarthy was hurt all year and is now the
unquestioned sort of starter in Minnesota right now, right, That
was the plan all along, despite the Aaron Ryders call
just go with me here, right, But like Michael Pennis
not playing in the preseason, Okay.

That goes against your theory an our one. You got it.
But when theyres have won this division for five years
in a row. I'm chalking it up for six.

be the best offense. We got a shot at being
the best offense in the NFL by year's end.

If Sean Payton was telling me about that, Michael Pennix,
I'd be listening different if Warren Buffett calls you to
the side and says, hey, Alex, open your robinhood, I
got one for you.

Well, Romadons, they might have something to say out of
the PNW about this guy opening up the cannon and
delivering all the throws. Because Pennix does have that big
arm strength, he does have the ability to stretch the field.
And we'll be remiss if we don't count Drake London,
Kyle Pitts, just don't drop him in fantasy and b

John Robinson as at least viable threats to this.

You saw, you saw Michael Pennix talking about Kyle Pitts.

He said, draft him, he says, literally he goes, you know,
and after practice one day you saw throwing the Kyle
go keep doing that a lot, and I'm not look

think that we should be paying This is flying under.

The radar to me. He started the last what five games?

They have started five games, played in five games, started
the last three games, and I just.

I what put it like this? Justin Herbert's first start.

no question about. I watched Herbert first started. Oh he's
got it. He's got this figured out.

Stroud first couple starts, Oh okay, Jade and Daniels first
few starts, Oh okay, Now Bo Nicks. It took about
first six or seven starts, you know what I'm saying.
But he figured it out, Like maybe Michael Pennix will
figure it out and be a top XYZ passer in
the league. But if you have to say, right now,

where does Michael Penis rank in the NFL quarterback.

Quick thinking between around twenty around the twentieth best quarterback
in the NFL.

And you're just saying that because this is what feels right.

If this is psychological warfare, I do want my quarterback
going up there and saying those kinds of things. If
he believes it in his heart of hearts, it has
They're in the ring. They have no hesitation and time
and luxury to doubt their abilities. And I think we
might be understating. This guy took a dude's job who

got over one hundred million dollars again at the end
of the season with a division on the line.

I think Pennix believes he is him, and that's the
thing we'll never know, and it may never matter, but
we say he took a dude's job. Kirk Cousins, I
feel like he got benched, and it makes me wonder
if Pennix had like was I think the prevailing thought

is that Pennix was good enough to play, and they
gave Cousins the money so they had to play them.
But I think also maybe he's just a little different.
Maybe the Russell Wilson Matt Flynn correlation is not one.
But we've seen teams give guys guaranteed money and say
you're on the bench because this guy's a better option.
That did not happen in Atlanta until Cousins was so

bad he could not play right. Like I'm not talking.
Russell Wilson won the job from Matt Flynn in camp
right right now. Daniel Jones just trying to beat Anthony
Richardson out in camp, right like, And maybe Pennis never
got a fair shot in camp. Maybe the Kirk Cousins
had a promise. Maybe he was just that much better.
But to somebody who we know, is that much better,

try to understand processing, and Patrick had a great score

kept the same analytics formula and when he used it
this time around, bo Nix's score was the very best

since Patrick Mahomes's. The formula that he developed, he had
a lot of confidence in it, and I think a
lot of that had to do with Patrick Mahomes.

gave Cousins the money so they had to play them.
But I think also maybe he's just a little different.
Maybe the Russell Wilson Matt Flynn correlation is not one.
But we've seen teams give guys guaranteed money and say

That did not happen in Atlanta until Cousins was so
