(01:22):
By the way, what's the cow down for the wedding again?
Where are we at?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Uh? You know, I know the date? What's today's date?
Is the bigger? That is actually a great question.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
August ninth, So today's a twenty eight, so we're about
two weeks away.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Gave thirty days half September. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Yeah, but August it's coming up soon. I think I'm
two saturdays out, feeling good. I'm ready ready. You want
something funny about that?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
What's that?
Speaker 5 (01:48):
So?
Speaker 6 (01:49):
I was talking to chrisp we Sard two months ago, Martin,
we told you the story rest in Peace by the way,
to see b Soupid. He's like, hey, man, you uh
you're gonna go to Martin's wedding. I was like, I mean,
I don't even know if I'm invited, So I mean
I don't know. Oh yeah, well it's you know it's
next month, so you ain't invited. But and I didn't
(02:11):
take any kind away because I know how expensive way
you are. You listen, but I was like, damn Christ,
you ain't invite it.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, you ain't. Me, you ain't. You would have known
by now.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
Now Mar's living in your tax bracket these days. He
was telling me that he flew out c B first
class business class, put him up at the Ritz.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Did none of the above quite a minute, Rob g
had me sold quite literally none of the above. And
I told Rob how I'm able to go on this
upcoming honeymoon. And I've realized now I don't know if
it's good. I don't know if you can handle it. Rob,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
If it's the best advice for you to follow.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
But credit card points can work, wonders if you're responsible
on everything else that you do with the credit card,
if you know how to manage it, they'll take you
all the way around the world.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
They will.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
You can use it and take advantage of it. I
think that's how we're getting ready to make some moves.
We gotta go to Detroit and then obviously I'll be
down in Cleveland and all that good stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
So yeah, I think we use the points, but points, yeah,
if you use it right everything.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
But then the problem is all you did was do
what you just said, be responsible and robbedy. Oh look
at y'all using points in here in these streets. Meanwhile,
he's riding around an updgraded cars. But you don't want
to tell you.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
He's too busy shaming me because I had his seven
or eleven app right.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Fact, you like saving money, you like many fool price.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Meanwhile, he's all going to shout to friends his wife
every five years is getting a new ring in these streets.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
No, it's my fault.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Hey, baby, I know it's a fifty year ring, a
ten year ring, a fifteen year ring. And then you
always talking about us lo key, Alex, I think you
need to understand he might you might be alone, Alex.
I think rob G is actually with us, he just
don't want to admit it.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
With that.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
By the way, a side note, yeah, thank you for
not going full carry roads on us, because I know
he used to you host of that means and it
was great, that's saw the picture.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It was fun time.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
I didn't like you saying like, oh me, my good
friend James Worthy were hanging out together, like Kerry was saying,
I was just hanging out of Oprah's house.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
You know, it's funny. Hey, I'm gonna tell you the truth.
Last point, then we'll get to our topic. One thing
about having a wife who is you know, I like
to think she's pretty, pretty beautiful, but also the brands.
She just does well Instagram. I know, so no, he
does well. Rob's screenshots to verify what you said he did.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
He did screenshot it.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
But one thing about having the beautiful and she's such
an additive to my life. The problem with that is
you think it's you, Like you think like, oh it's
your thing. Oh you're hosting the Emmys, or you're the Die,
or you got the new you know what, the OCA,
whatever it is, it somehow always comes back to her.
So to to your point, and then I'm move on.
Big Gang James Worthy comes in. That's my man. You know,
(04:41):
we work with Spectrum together. Here we call my man.
He calls me, kuh, what's up, baby?
Speaker 2 (04:46):
What's up? I ever think good?
Speaker 1 (04:48):
And my wife is filming us, so I'm not it's
going you know, it's me and Big Gang Willa look
cool on the real you know, a big game, and
he goes, man, you know what, I know something?
Speaker 2 (04:55):
I said, what's that big game? He about to pump
your boy up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I hurt somebody past the bar and I heard she's
got a law degree and look at her doing big things.
And she literally like, oh me, all night, Alex, it's
supposed to be my night.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Oh my gosh, she's so beautiful.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
I got an actual DM from somebody with the high
school this week this morning. Hey, you know you're pretty
handsome everything. Yeah, yeah, but basically you all kick your
covers with what they're saying. I don't know how you
score her, Like, I'm just like wow, Like I'm just
gonna be honest with you, Like, I mean, you're cool,
but like she is, and I'm like, thanks, I think.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
That's one step above Big Gang Woe. Like, so, I
heard your husband's hosting Theammies this weekend. That's great, that's great,
that's great, that's.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Great, you say, he tried to air.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I'm over here and literally the last the best part
of video Martin me cause he's been one We've been
trying to get together, go golfing. So you literally see
me in the video Alex Dual golf swing like yeah,
me and big Game golfing, and he really doesn't bring
up golf. I'm like and he's like you, yeah, you
passed the bar, baby girl, way to go. And I'm
just sitting there like big game. So that's the problem
(06:06):
when you you know that's about to be your future.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Bro.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Uh, I've my dad told me this a long time ago.
With the lowest standing a man can have a woman's life.
His husband, Kevin, he almost on his water just now. Well,
it was about to be Be and Steve for the
rest of the show because Kelvin almost did not make it.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
I didn't get the memo. I didn't know early. Boy,
I thought it is it becomes all about her. I'm like, hello,
what can become president?
Speaker 2 (06:32):
They'll be like, boy, what the first lady geta what's
the saying? Happy wife, happy life. Ain't nothing for us,
happy husband bleven something.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I can't come up with that. All right, let's get
into this. This was this was something I wanted to
get into last week Martin. So we haven't really talked
about this because it's two parts of this conversation. There's
one of a touch on which is the more Newsy
which happened recently, and that is Rob Manford, Commissioner MLB,
has been making his round as he usually does, try
to get get with all thirty teams, have conversations, you know,
(07:03):
just to build that rapport with them. Goes to the
Philadelphia Phillies and is having a conversation and talking and
then all of a sudden he and Bryce Harper get
into it. And I don't mean get into it, like, hey,
you know, I just disagree. Oh really I disagree.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
No.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
The reports are Bryce Harper got into his grill and
told him he can get the blank out the clubhouse
to the commissioner, and they say the commissioner didn't back down.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
He said I ain't getting a blank nowhere.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
And then Nick Castellanio Castellonius with Castianos. I'm trying to
say he had to break it up, blah blah blah,
kind of be the peacemaker. But but there's a larger
point here, and that is Bryce Harper told them, man,
if you're coming in and trying to have conversations about
having a salary cap and I think this ties to
the first conversation that Rob G and I have been
(07:48):
talking about having here for we we just couldn't get
it in. It was so much happened last week. So
the commissioner has a cap league cap members. It's a
it's a it's a group that he calls the commissioners
at Ambassador Program CAP And a lot of people think
he's talking about your cap because what he does, He's
hired a bunch of former players to go around and
act as liaisons. And what I find interesting is, we
(08:11):
know baseball is around six seven eight percent black, but
this is a league, this is the Ambassador group comprised
of a lot of brothers.
Speaker 7 (08:18):
C C.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Sabathia being the biggest name, but then you also have
Ryan Howard, and you have Jimmy Rollins, and you have
other you have Shane Victorino, you have Prince Field, or
you have Adam Jones, you have Gary Sheffield, Nick s Western.
So the bulk of it, like eighty percent are brothers,
which I found interesting just considering baseball is you know,
such a low percentage of African American players.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
I know C. C.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
And Ryan Howard and Adam Jones are very involved in
like baseball at a May We just saw him at
the All Star League.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Ryan, they were at this year's All Star Game. They
were at last year's All Star Game.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I know that they were at Rickwood Field the Birmingham
game because I interviewed them all.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
So there's a there's a part of where players are
current players feel like those players are being used because
what they're doing is they're saying, hey, man, you guys
are coming around trying to fill us out and see
what's up and kind of talk to us about it,
and eventually the conversation often leads to salary cap, and
the players aren't really feeling that because they're like, all right, well,
are y'all with us former players? You know get it,
(09:17):
you know what the life is like, you know what
this is about. Or are y'all with the commissioner where
y'all trying to help him get what he wants resultimate
with the owners want, which is a salary cap. So
then now, this to me is is an interesting conversation
where Rob Manfred is. The argument is, look, we come
on here, especially Robin, how you know he's mister baseball.
We talk about baseball is at a peak right now
(09:39):
and it hadn't been in quite some time. We know
the ratings are up, we know the ticket stands of
people coming to the games are up. We know they
had an amazing World Series the postseason run, but it
was punctuated with the World Series with Dodgers and Yankees.
We know guys are getting seven hundred million dollars in
show hey, just to get one up by Soto getting
seven hundred million dollars.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
And we also know there's no floor.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
You have the Dodgers spending four hundred million dollars and
then you have the Marlin spending like eighty three million dollars.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
So you have the.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Player saying, don't cry me broke when we got onon
some franchise and we ain't trying to spend nothing, So
they ain't broke. You ain't spending nothing. We got other
ones that are competing and trying to win. The Dodgers,
the Mets, and the Yankees so on spending a bunch
of money. So the players are saying, what's this all about?
And the last time that you use the word a
stoppage and play, we had a stoppage and play the
last time you brought it up again, we had to
(10:25):
stop the whole season back in ninety four. And so
what Bryce Harper said to him is we ain't scared
to stop the one sixty two. And I don't understand
exactly what baseball is trying to do other than owners
trying to find a way to make a couple extra bucks,
because that's what rich people do. You always do, You think, oh,
well they got enough. No, rich people love more money.
And so I don't get why do it now? Why
(10:47):
are you starting to build this adversarial relationship now when
things are actually looking up for baseball right now, things
are coming to things of the move that he's made
or positively you know, speeding up the game. And to me,
why are we messing up a good thing? Why are
we kind of fracturing relationship? And again, the players don't
like that you're using this cap group where they feel
as if you're using them as liaisons and spies trying
(11:09):
to you know, implement your rules and what you're trying
to get done. So maybe you can I don't understand
what Baseball's doing other than owners trying to find another
way to get a little bit more piece of the
pie because they don't need a salary cap.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
They've had a repeat renter in twenty five years. That's
what it is. The guys who spend want somebody to stop.
That's the salary cap essentially stops owners from spending at
the high end. Right, this is not gonna If you're
a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, a salary cap is not going
to change your life one bit. Right, this changes the
lives of the Yankees and so on. So are the Yankees,
(11:42):
Dodgers and Yankees. To your point, are hol Cyberner has
been one. There's been some owners who have been direct,
like we want the salary cap, and then some who
have been kind of indirect. He's been wanting to your point,
he's been kind of indirect, like, I mean, yeah, you know,
we could look into that. So he's been, well, it
wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you
guys making me pay seven hundred million dollars to keep
(12:03):
an outfielder. Like I had a team that was in
the World Series last year because I didn't want to
put seven hundred million dollars in escrow, I didn't get
to keep the left fielder or right for who everyone
sawd I was playing, I forget uh. But to me,
my overall take on this is the idea that the
(12:23):
commissioner has created a group.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Of any people. I know some of those guys respect them.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
The guy the idea that the commissioner has created any
sort of group to add vibe.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
There already is a group. It's called the Players Association.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Doing this is it's it is a direct circumvents, direct
attempt to circumvent the Players Association. And that is why
Bryce Harper tells you to get the f out of
my clubhouse, because we're not going for that in baseball.
And that's why, like last week or two weeks ago,
whenever it was, when everybody was up in arms because
(13:00):
how dare the w NBA players have the nerve to
wear a shirt.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
That says pay us? What you OIW you mean? Rob?
He's not. I know he wasn't alone.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
But that's what that conversation now twenty five, thirty forty
years later, fifty years later, turns into Bryce Harper's and
get the f out of my clubhouse for talking about
a salary cap league. And the other thing about the
thing about the Bryce Harper thing, it's Bryce Harper for
the entire year of the time that he plays ball
is gonna be paid if there's a salary cap. Guess
(13:35):
what he's gonna get most of it. He doesn't stand
to lose nearly. What the other kind of rank and file,
the what the lefty coming out of the bullpen, the
long reliever, what that guy stands to lose, or you.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Know, the setup back and forth from triple A up
to the bigs and double right.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
That's not Bryce Harper's life. Bryce Harper's not worried about that.
Anywhere he goes for the rest of his career, he'll
be starting at a high level, and then he's not.
He'll be retired.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
The best players in your league have to be the
players who do this type of stuff, So kudos to
them for that.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
And that is the That's why when we have these
NFL conversations and you hear some of the quarterbacks, and
I do think that's why you're starting to get a
Joe Burrow to me, who's been way more vocal, because
a lot of guys kind of go, hey, that's why
everybody get paid. You know, I'm just staying out of it,
understand business and business. Joe Burrow's been very more. He's
been like, hey, what's up. Why couldn't we get guys
paid earlier? Why can't we be like the Eagles, who
were guys are getting paid and whether it's possible or not,
(14:29):
at least he's being vocal and they asked him about
you know, they asked Patrick mahomes to talking about eighteen
game season and all these things. They're not fully standing
on business saying absolutely not over my dead body.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
And I think that's the difference.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
While the NFLPA has always has issues, while you got
your Lloyd Howle's out here and hanging out with Rob
at Magic City and doing this and doing that and
taking money and not talking and telling them about collusion
deals that were made and for six months they didn't
hear about it. Where you have the MLB players Bryce
Harper one of the best of his generation, and he's
standing on business for his team to the point where
he's checked it's a chest literally outs the report with
(15:02):
Rob Manfred.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
This is like the equivalent of Lamar Jackson telling Roger
Goodell to that f off.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yeah, And that's what you need. You need your star
players big up in and standing in the gap for
the smaller players so that they know I've got your back.
And then me and Rob always talk about this so
that if it comes to it, you have a war chest,
we have money. We're gonna take care of you, because
that's what happens in the NFL. So many guys only
got two years. I got three.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
I can't. I don't want to put up a fuss.
I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
I want to be replacement players and all that. I
gotta get mine in baseball, saying we've already created this
war chest, we have everything set up for. We got
to go through this for ten games, twenty games, or
a whole hundred and sixty two. We're gonna build for
this and we're gonna be all right, and we'll take
care of you. And I love to see it. But Yeah,
using this cap program and these guys, I think I
feel like kind of using them slickly in a way
(15:51):
that I think players aren't really appreciating. Some have aj
Perzinski on this podcast. A few of them have talked
to guys about like, yo, what's really going on here?
And they're not saying the guys are bad. You mentioned
a lot of these are great guys, but they feel
uncomfortable with their role.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
You're kind of in this purgatory. Are y'all with us
the former players or y'all working with. It's an A
and D conversation. What you doing here?
Speaker 2 (16:10):
See yep, ap they capping right now?
Speaker 1 (16:12):
All right, Another one on the way is me and
you need to discuss kaylb Williams, Ben Johnson. Who has
more at stake this upcoming season? Will tell you who
we have. It's the O couple Martin Ze for Rob Parker,
Rob g Alex and Steve De Segre. Were gonna keep
you updated. We got Tyler Dragon on the other side
as well. It is a magic City Monday. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:33):

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing. We
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get.
Speaker 8 (16:54):
To and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list lame in me.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 8 (17:13):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.
Speaker 8 (17:37):
There you go, over promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Fox Sports Radio, A couple, Kelvin Washington, Martin Wiss and
for Rob on a Magic City Monday Aching East Iff
back joints not cooperating. Some days, your body's just like
no new days. Luckily, thankfully, there's a leave with just
one pier of the league provides up to twelve hours
of paying relief, so you can keep moving.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Just make sure you use it as directed.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Tyler Dragon in about five six minutes or so, talk
some football headlines with him. He is with USA Today
National reporter for them. Looking forward to that and then
we'll get straight to this one. Martin, me and Rob Z.
Was that you me and you going at it last
week about Kayla Williams. Yeah, so we were talking about
Kayler Williams when he had a couple of rough starts.
(18:29):
You had Ben Johnson head coach there, who had to
shut down day one of practice because he didn't like
the way they were getting out of huddles and everything.
Kick off the first teamers. Let me say that way first,
the first teamers had to go sit down and get right.
Then the next day he goes was he two for
ten and he couldn't get through a couple of interceptions
in the red zone and so a lot of speculation
coming out of that. And I was saying, then Rob
(18:51):
g asked a question, well, you know who's kind of
more at as more at stake here? And I said
it was Ben Johnson because when you get that guy
the number one pick, we've been here all the best prospects.
Since Andrew Luck has all the gifts, Look how talented
he is. They ain't letting that go. Guy, go you
can go. We've seen that when you whether you're a
good coach of the year, you can go. You can
(19:12):
win a championship, pick the sport and go let alone
if you're underperforming what the guy people feel is the future.
So to me, Ben Johnson, anytime you have a star player,
especially in this case a number one pick and cayleb
Williams and Heisman winner, you're the one at stake.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
You haven't proven anything. You've not been a head coach before.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
You've been a really really good offensive coordinator for the Lions,
but you haven't been a coach. So I think this
more on Ben Johnson to figure out a way to
maximize his gifts, maximize his talent.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
But now he's come out and there's a poor area.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
You have him saying he's not getting the ball on
the time, is reading the coverage, he's struggling with that,
and which I was kind of blown away that he
will say that publicly. I'm like, he keep that with
your boy, keep that in house. But Ben Johnson, where
are you at with we already talk about Kayleb william
He's got to improve, He's got to get better. But
what about Ben Johnson, year one head coach.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
I think that when Rob g and I were talking
this through earlier today, he was surprised that I had
this opinion. But I agree that is Ben Johnson if
nothing else. I think the two questions that we had
about Caleb Williams when he was coming out of college
where a lot of that highlight tape is out of structure, right,
(20:26):
and then also the second one was off the field,
how do we feel about you know, the nail painting,
the crying in the side.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I want to go home and play.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
I want to play with my All of that to me,
from the moment he became a Chicago Bear, he has
said and done the right things in the podium, especially
considering that I don't think a single person, a single
quarterback I should say, drafted in that class, would have
(20:56):
done better than he did. I don't think Jon Daniels's
healthy through all those sacks. I think Drake may gets
three concussions instead of two through.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
All those sacks, right.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
And I don't think bon Knicks has the raw talent
to be able to overcome the offensive line struggles and
not having Sean Payton be as head coach. I think
if you had, I think if any situation that Caleb
was in would have been better of the rookie quarterbacks.
And even talk about Panis, well, Pendis couldn't beat out
of thirty sixth Rold with one Achilles all right, right, right,
and so that you know, that's a real thing. I
(21:28):
get that they gave all that guarantee money, but that's
also a real thing. The best guy is gonna play.
And so I think that Caleb Williams showed throughout his
time that we evaluated him as a college player. He
can be great individually among a ton of chaos. I
don't think that USC has necessarily acquitted themselves well despite
(21:49):
having a great quarterback playing in the position like that
team was not a world beater, they were not championship contenders,
and they had the lockdown number one overall pick for
basically two years.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
I was about to say he went backwards after his
Heisman Trophy year, and so I think you saw out
of Caleb last year.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I think all things considered, he was good, dude. He
was good. I said the same thing.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
I said, so is it a bounce back year or
when we were talking about said is this a bounce
back year or a It wasn't really that bad. It
was a rookie year and a team that never does
well with quarterbacks and what ended up being a really
good division. You know, you got the fifteen and two
Lions and Vikings and the Packers went to the playoffs
and ended up being a really good year. And his
head coach didn't do him any favors. We lost them
(22:36):
up three, four games down the crunch of.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
Games, and then but was sitting at home by Christmas, right,
he exactly got himself fired.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
So yeah, I think we're on the same page. I
expect a nice step from him, but Ben Johnson is
going to have to teach him. You don't have to
be superman. I know that season he came easy for
you probably all your life. You don't have to be it.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Now.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
This is what I find fascinating. I know you're trending
out of this. This is what I find fascinating is
that locker room last year was lost by a lot
of reporting. When Eber flew several times, especially after the Hill.
Mary in Washington or the lack of time out in
Detroit was just like, Oh, we like the way things looked.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
It wasn't.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
I want to know what it's like if the Bear
start out one in three, two and four and Ben
Johnson says it's somebody else's fault.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
I want to know. I just want to hear what
that's just. He doesn't have the equity. I just think
it's going to be interesting. He's not at Mike Tomlin
and Andy Ray. I've been here for so long. I
clolling guys.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Off the field day one a training camp, like you,
you better be accountable yourself if you're going to hold
us to this level of accountability.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Great point, Tyler Dragon on the Way USA Today NFL Report.
We probably ask him that if we want to.

All right, thank you, Steve, It is the Eye couple,
kelvin Washington. We got Martin Weiss and for Rob on
this Magic City Monday. And by the way, if you
got ak knees, you got a stiff back. Joints not cooperating.
Some days your body's just like no, this ain't it.
On those days, luckily there's a leave and which just
one pill of lead provides up to twelve hours of
paying relief, so you can keep moving. Use as directed.
A lead might be something this man has to use.
(24:18):
Now he's got a toddler running around. Tyler Dragon, our
guests USA Today National NFL Reporter, make sure you follow
on the Tyler Dragon on X.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
What's up, Tyler?
Speaker 7 (24:27):
Yeah, I got aky knees in the stiff back, so
I might need some of that so I can keep
on playing basketball and football my free time.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
You got to relax with all that playing full basketball
football at our age. Man, Now you're a daddy too
out here man wearing you down. Well, you know what,
thanks for joining us.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Man. We want to start here.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
We know you're covering this story, so we'll started with
this breaking news that there was a shooting. Two folks
were shot after a shooting breaks out and the killer
is now shooter has killed himself. Give us more as
near the NFL headquarters in New York. It's not them,
but it is near them. Give us more details on that.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Yeah, it's really a scary situation and details are still
coming out, but there was a shooting outside the NFL
headquarters at three forty five Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan,
and the shooter actually went inside the building where the
NFL headquarters is based, and there's also other businesses in
(25:27):
that building as well, and went all the way up
to the thirty third floor and ended up shooting himself.
So the New York Police Department did report that the
shooter has been neutralized and the building has been contained.
But unfortunately, it looks like a police officer based off
(25:48):
preliminary reports that I've been gathering, a police officer is dead,
and unfortunately two other civilians have been shot. So yeah,
very scary and unfortunate situation in midtown Manhattan.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Obviously, our thoughts and prayers to everybody dealing with that situation.
Of course, those lost their lives and obviously a very
scary day of work. Martin Wise and for Rob Parker
joined her with Tyler Dragon on the odd couple.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
With Calvin Washington.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
There's no easy way to transition from that, but I'm
going to go ahead and do it anyway. There's another
situation with seeming conflicting reports. And I'm not trying to
have you telling tales out of school, Tyler, but what
the hell is going on with Christian Wilkins Man.
Speaker 7 (26:31):
Yeah, that's a crazy transition. But yeah, I mean, I
have heard from the NFL and even the Las Vegas
Raiders that he kissed or attempted to kiss a teammate
in the locker room and the teammate did not like it, obviously,
(26:52):
And I mean, and that just that was just one
of the things that you know, just played into why
the Las Vegas Raiders were just tired of him and
ready to move on from Ultimately, though, the biggest reason
is because there was just some disagreement towards whether he
should get surgery or not. Wilkins did not want to
(27:14):
get surgery, but the Raiders thought that it is in
his best course of action to get surgery where he
can get on the field sooner rather than later, and
he disagreed. So that's why the Raiders ended up releasing
him despite all the guaranteed money that they owe him,
(27:35):
and I hear it's probably going to end up going
to court because the Raiders want avoid part of his contract,
and obviously Wilkins is not in favor of that at all.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Well, yeah, you could imagine.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
And this is a conversation that Martin and I are
going to have, depending on time with once we get
done with you about the NFLPA. We just had a
conversation about just the MLB, but we talked about the
NFL all the time. You got your leader out here
in the strip clubs and then tied into stuff and
at City Monday, Magic City Monday. Literally for him, it's
(28:10):
you know, and not telling the players about collusion for
six months and just is this just par for the
course with NFLPA will help them solve this problem?
Speaker 2 (28:21):
You're in the know. What's going on?
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Why can't they have a better PA and be feeling
as if they're advocating for them?
Speaker 2 (28:27):
What's the issue there?
Speaker 7 (28:29):
Well, I mean, when you look at the past, aheads
of the NFLP means the more smith Yet he was
not perfect, but he was a lot better right last situation.
So really they have to really look themselves in the
merit and have an extensive and exhaustive vetting process to
hire their next chief because this does not look good
(28:52):
on the NFLPA, does not look good on the staff
of the players commission who who who you know elects
the nfl p a head because I mean when you have,
like you said, the collusion, the guy using nfl PA
money to go to Magic City, talking about this, I
(29:15):
mean for both game building, gathering, team building, it's it's
just crazy. And so yeah, it's really a black guy
on the NFLPA and the players on that you know,
the staff. But you would hope that this is a
learning situation for all involved in the next person who
(29:38):
they hire, they really vet them thoroughly before they make
a decision.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Or you know, Tyler, you know, vet them at all publicly,
could be it would be a nice change from uh
from that now, uh, let me ask you about this
because Michael Parson is still not paid by Jerry.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
But we've seen this movie before.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Oh yes, about the trilogy right exactly as you know,
Summer Blockbuster coming to a theater near you. Michaeh gets
this thing done by you know, right before week one
the training are week one of the season, more than likely.
But the difference between this is what makes me think
that it makes it feel like it's different than me
to me because Jerry is notably antagonistic. I think is
(30:21):
the best coloring of the way he's carrying this talking
about I didn't hear them chanting. They chanted Ceedee Lamb louder,
and it made me remember that Cedee Lamb actually held out. Well, Mike,
is there with the new first year head coach that
you just hired from walking down the hallway on the
way to the bathroom. Brian Schottenheimer like, is this gonna
(30:42):
have the same ending as all these other contract negotiations
or is there anything different about this one?
Speaker 7 (30:48):
Well, it's funny you ask, because I literally just wrote
a story about this very topic yesterday, and what I'm
hearing from sources is all expectation is that Michael Arts
is going to get a deal before the start of
the regular season. And when you look at it, this
is basically Jerry Jones's playbook last year. When you look
(31:10):
at Dak Prescott, he got paid the start of the
regular season in week one. When you look at Ceedee Lamb,
he got paid in late August. Jerry Jones likes to
play these things out, and to me, it's all part
of keeping the Cowboys in the headlines, keeping them in
the news cycle. Because we're talking about it right now,
(31:31):
we're going to be talking about it until Michael Parsons
gets paid, and when he gets paid, we're going to
talk about it some more because he's going to be
the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history. When it's
all said and done. We all believe it's going to happen.
It's just a matter of when it's going to happen.
It's not a matter of if. But it keeps the
Cowboys in the news cycle. And that's exactly what Jerry
(31:52):
Jones wants because that's a reason why the Cowboys have
valued over ten billion dollars, the richest franchise in the world.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
True, they might be more than that.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
If the Lakers got Tim Bill right, Cowboys might get
about fourteen on them.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
All right, well, Tyler, we let you go. Man, appreciate
go and see you in Cleveland next week.
Speaker 7 (32:09):
Of course you don't see me there. Am I gonna
see you guys there?
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Yeah, well one of me. I will be there, you
guys hold it down for me. I'll see you next year.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah, he's getting married. Yeah, so congrats to him in advance.
But I'll see you down there. Man Journalist.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
NABJ National Association Black Journalist Conference.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
So we'll be there. Appreciate you as always, brother, Thank
you so much.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
All right, on the way, let's continue that conversation about
Christian Wilkins, because this gets weird and we got to
break down a level of weirdness that's happening.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
We'll do that.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
It is Martin and for Robbers, the our couple in
Washington on the Magic City Monday, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
You're trying to get your dad by gone, or get

that good stuff. Ache and e stiff back joints not cooperating.
Some days your body is like no, no, no. And
on those days, thankfully there's a leave. All you gotta
do is just take the one pill. The lead provides
up to twelve hours of pain relief so you can
keep moving.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Use as directed. All right, Rob g help us out here.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Christian Wilkins, we just talked about a little bit with
Tyler Dragon and this this is a weird situation because
you just that was you just showed me that picture
of him, right, Martin, Yes, I don't know if he's
making a habit of trying to kiss people on the
forehead when you frame it like that.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
I showed you a picture from Getty Images that I
saw circulating online of Christian Wilkins hugging like side hugging
Hunter Renfro and the picture by itself, you raised no
question with the story from Schefter Today it looks a
little different.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
That's why it's going viral. But you can't just be like,
was you the one that showed me the picture.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
No, we were about to get to the context of
while again and you just you laid it out well
that it's like, dude, teammates played the college ball together
this day with that boy hot. Nothing to it but
the line of habitual line stepper, habitual forehead kisser. I
don't know. Can you just the latest with Christian Wilkins.
Speaker 6 (34:49):
Make me kind of summarize this competent in the story anyways.
Christian Wilkins, former Las Vegas Raider big time freeing acquisition
last offseason, was released basically last week yep. And they're
trying to avoid out the rest of his contract. According
to ESPN, they're trying to collect or not to pay
out the remaining thirty five million dollars guaranteed fully guarantee
(35:10):
that they owe him. So that says a lot about
how they feel about him now. The company line on
Thursday was he's not attacking his rehab the way we
want him to. He's been dealing with his Jones fracture
for far too long. We don't think he's taking it seriously,
so that's why we're gonna wave him. Then we find
out today, well, actually no, we found out yesterday from
Josina Anderson and a couple other reporters that there was
(35:31):
more to the story, that there was something else that happened,
an incident took place in the locker room. We have
an idea of what happened, but we're not gonna say
what happened because it just seems kind of weird. Well,
today Adam Schefter went on Pat McAfee show and he
gave some context to the story.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
His version of events is.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
That Christian Wilkins kissed a fellow teammate on the head
and the teammate didn't like it to a point where
it was escalated up to hr and Pete Carroll got
involved and they said, all right, that's the last straw.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
We're done with this guy.
Speaker 6 (36:00):
The only problem is Dub Martin. As you know if
you've been on the internets, several reputable reporters saying that
may have happened, but that is not the reason why
that there's other incidences that have taken place that they
will not say that.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Even Tyler just a minute ago, Yeah, this is one
of the And it's like, so you never get around
to getting the answer of is how much is the
foot fracture. I wanted to ask if I want to
put him on the spot, because nobody's put it out yet.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
But okay, let's say he did get that surgery. Is
he a raider today? Yes? Or no? That's what I
want to know he might be.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
How big of an issue was well, I'm gonna say this.
Only reason why I say maybe not is because for
others just keep saying there's other stuff.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
To me, this sounds like.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Possibly we're all speculating aga in this, but maybe this
is the one we'll feel comfortable reporting and that's what
it feels like. And if that's the case, then that
can be a little damning, even more so than you're
just good with and that's what you know. Your your
foot's good, in your health, then you're ready to roll
because it's sad and crazy as it's about the sound
and it sounds horrible, But you guys have been covering
(37:06):
sports long enough to know what I mean. If he
were doing some weird things that other people, they might
keep it rolling. We've seen that people throwing their girlfriends
on guns. We've heard of domestic violence issues. We heard
of this, that and the other, and they can wait
and wait and wait and wait until they're finally forced
to do something disciplinary wise. But if it was his
(37:27):
teammates and it was saying, be some weird stuff that
you can't because you'll have a broken and fractured locker
room and that I can't have. And I think especially
p Caero first, first year, now new team trying to
build this on pe Caro, I'm eighty eight years old.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I got time to be waiting.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
So I think that plays a role too in that
even if he was healthy, if it's some weird the
shenanigans going on, that the whole team is gonna like,
hey man, we ain't feeling this. They're not the whole team,
that's exactly, but you know some players, then I think
that makes the issue more so than if it were
someone outside of the locker room, which is sad, but
that because we've seen that play out many times.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
And I'll add this, I think that my number one
takeaway from this story today because today it's a lot
of he said, he said, as I heard Chefter say
on Sports Center earlier today.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
But it's also he said, he said.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
In terms of reporting and all of this, a lot
of a lot of people being like ooh, the reals
news is crazy.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
But nobody might say saying what the real news is.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
One thing I do definitely know for about thirty five
million reasons, Christian Wilkins could really benefit from a strong
players union right now. And that's what he does not have,
Like that's what he has. That's why Bryce Harper is
telling Rob Manford the FU. That's why WNBA players are
wearing shirts that say pay it's what you owe. Because
Christian Wilkins could really use strong player representation at this
(38:51):
moment because it seems like that not a lot of
people on his side.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
And nobody is kind of giving up his point of
view one way or the other. At least he you know,
whatever we find out happens. But he's supposed to at
least to have his say in all of this and
doesn't have it.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
So there you have it. At f LPA,
