and coming up in about twenty seven minutes, Charles Robinson
from Yahoo Sports to the senior NFL reporter. I remember
when he was a reporter pop reporter for the Oakland

(02:04):
Press in Oakland County, Michigan, not Oakland, California. Did you
know Charles. You don't know Charles's Charles Robinson, but he
was with you. He wrote for the Oakland Press. I
don't remember, but you know Charles. But I had been
in Oakland Mall in a minute. They used to be
my mall out there, man, a little secret malls, like yeah,
so all those places are just, oh my god, just awful,

(02:26):
like yeah, yeah, it's it's a shame.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
It used to be like, remember fair Lane used to
be so nice.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yep, it's not anymore. And Northland Mall do you know.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
This, Rob g Alex, you know I know what you're
about to say.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
First mall, the first mall in the United States was
in suburban Detroit and Southfield, Michigan called Northland knocked it down,
all gone, first ever mall.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, because when I would go there was like three stores. Yeah,
it's three stores and a Wetzel's pretzel. That's it got bad,
oh man, But Rob speaking, it got bad as if
we weren't singing his praises for so long. Man, The
Pacers had a bad game against the Knicks. I predicted
the Knicks would win that just because I knew Jalen

(03:09):
Brunson had one more in him. I thought the Knicks,
who had been fighting all playoffs long, I'll give him
a lot of credit for that.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
They got a lot of fighting them.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
I thought they win Game five, and I still I
think they'd lose Game six.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
But we will have you know that conversation another day.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
But one of the things I walked away from that
game disappointed was you can lose to the Knicks.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
The Knicks have been a quality team.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
Obviously, they've made it all the way to the Eastern
Conference Finals. I think what was disappointing, Yeah, they were
the exactly, they were the favorite in that game. No,
what was disappointing was rob for me was tyres Haler
Burton and the performance.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Not just you lose.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
That happens, right, you can lose a game, but if
you go back two games, you go back to game three,
he had a bad game on his standards.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
He wasn't happy talked about it.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
He said, I kind of felt like I let the
team down, and that's why he was so happy to
bounce back with that incredible masterpiece a game Game four.
He said, Hey, I realized I played poorly Game three.
I feel like it was my fault and I wanted
to step up as a leader and really showed that
we can bounce back, and I myself can bounce back.
And that's when he had, you know, the thirty two
twelve and twelve game that he had and you're like, wow,

(04:16):
what a remarkable comeback. Zero turnovers, well and it was
plus sixteen. Game five, he took seven field goal attempts,
seven not because he was injured, not because they were
blown out.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
By fifty and the game was over after the prize
pick over on to eight eight shots?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Is that what it was?

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I don't even know what it was. I'm just seven.
I'm just I'm just playing. But I mean listen, and man,
he didn't have a bad game. He didn't play exactly.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
And this is coming off of a twenty three field
goal attempt game game four.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
But this is the NBA. We've seen this.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
You how many times did you beat the drum about
the Timberwolves and Julius Randall and Anthony Edwards not shooting,
like like you can't win. I don't understand that you
can't win. It's like they just decide to take a
night off. And in the NBA, you just gotta be honest.
Can we call it like we see it? The last

(05:18):
thing the NBA wanted was both of their conference finals
to end in five games. Okay, because you don't make
any money. You need at least six games, and you
need a seventh game. It's a bonanza. The worst thing
that could have happened to the NBA is that the
Pacers won last night. Seriously, I'm just financially everything, it

(05:39):
just was not what they wanted.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
They got a chance.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Now, well, I mean, I don't know what they could
have done it to old tyree'se Halliburton to only shoot
seven shots, that's crazy.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
So here's my thing, though, Rob, I think Tyrese.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Haliburton has to learn that him being in his mind
unselfish is absolutely being selfish. I think him trying to
be well, I want to make sure I spread it
out and I want to, you know, just figure sometimes
what we need tonight is you to be aggressive, and
sometimes what we need tonight is for you to take

(06:15):
over and a person who is way better than him
and had an imaculate career and still playing against Lebron.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
And at times we would say that about Lebron.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Pass first, get everybody going, and at times we would say, hey, Lebron,
tonight's one of those nights, I need you to be aggressive.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
Well, he does to night one of those nights.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
I need you to be the leader who takes over
and puts the foot on the other team's throat and
get this thing over with. And Tyre's Halliburton is still
learning that because I think him trying to pace it
and trying to you know, let me get the flow
actually hurt the team because he could have been the
one that was more aggressive, He could have been the
one that got them going. They could have fed off
of his energy, he could have fed off of his hunger,

(06:53):
fed off his snasty. He's saying, let's go, and instead
he was trying to find the flow, find the rhythm
for other guys. And I think they lost that juice
that they had in game four. So that's something he's
gonna have to learn that sometimes you being unselfish is
being selfish and detrimental to the team. But Rob Parker,
as I've gotten older, as I try to grow and

(07:14):
become more financially literate, one thing you learn, when you
got a good stock, you gotta ride it, even when
that thing goes down. If you got Amazon, Navidia, if
you got Apple, it's gonna go down. Sometimes it's gonna
have a bad day, a bad week. You ride that
stock because you trusting, you believe in it. And I'm
trusting and believing right now in Tyre's Halliburton, and he's

(07:35):
gonna pick it up in game six and do exactly
like he did in Game four, bounce back, put on
a really, really good showing and get his team to
the finals. So I'm riding that Amazon stock by name
of Tyre's Halliburton, that Navidia, that Apple stock, and I
think he'll bounce back. But he's definitely got to realize
they need him sometimes to be aggressive, they need him

(07:56):
to be a bit selfish from time to time. It's
okay as their leader, their shot creator and the person
who can make difficult shots.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
I just think they took their foot off the gas
last night and early on.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
That's I understand.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
They just they just decided for whatever reason that they'd
rather have a Game six in Indiana and they'll play better.
And you'll see it. I watch and see it'll be
a totally different game and you'll be like, what what
was this? It's weird in the NBA. And there's another thing.
And I said to you before, like when I told
you that I wasn't shocked at the Knicks won Game

(08:32):
three or whatever it was. I'm just like the Pacers
weren't going to sweep the Knicks. I just I never
bought that, you.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I'm really I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah for me, like like people are like, oh, I
can't believe they are really really the Knicks were gonna
get swept by the Pacers.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
I just I didn't see that, dude, I don't.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
The Knicks have been a good team this player. They've
been better in the postseason than they were in the
regular season. They've beaten good teams. They've come back from
when we didn't think they would. They played gritty, they
pay tough, they've been down that they've had brunts and
nicked up, banged up a little. Like.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
I've been impressed with them.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
They don't play necessarily a style that I think is
for the long haul.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
But you can't.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Yeah, there's no way I would have picked anybody to
come in and say, oh, the Knicks are gonna get sweat,
which is why I thought they'd win last night. They've
proven that be that gritty that I was like, I
can't count them out. They're gonna get this win.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Lest I wasn't convinced.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
I really thought the way that both of these series
were and you know just that that the way the
Knicks played at home they were three and five in
the postseason coming in, you know, they just haven't been
dominant at all or protect your home court. And uh,
you know that couple of close games against the Piss
they lost one, right, or lost yeah, one or two

(09:45):
to the Piston?

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Is one one there?

Speaker 5 (09:47):
Right?

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Because they won three in Detroit.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Yeah, So I was just like they could have a
lackluster performance because they haven't played well at home.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
But I don't expect it. But I don't, Yeah, I
mean that's why.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
But I I just would expect to see the same
Pacier team that we just saw, which was lackluster, out
of gas, not interested after especially once once they got
to the second quarter. It just seemed like and Halliburton,
how do you expect to win when you go from
mean what eight? Like I just giving them one. I
keep saying eight to seven, which is just like I

(10:21):
was thinking about the over on.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
I'm sorry why you keep thinking about the X files
to do.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
No, I'm just saying, but but but it's it's weird,
and you know, you don't always want to think that
everything's a conspiracy and they're figuring it out and it's
the WWE, NBA, and but sometimes you just wonder. I
brought it up to Rob g. There are people to
this day that believe the NBA had something to do

(10:47):
with Sacramento losing to the Lakers game six, right, because
the NBA was facing the Laker I mean the Kings
again the nets, not the Brooklyn nets, the New Jersey
nets and the Sacramento King and of course the Lakers
wound up sweeping the nets and it wasn't series at all.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
But you get my point, right, no, I do. They
did not want that.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
There's a lot of That's one game.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
It's hard to find someone who does not scratch their
head at minimum about that one, right.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
I mean you talk to.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
A lot of Donahue refereeing that game.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Yes, do refereen.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Your last great podcast called Whistleblower who talks all about
just the whole donahe and they get him on record,
he talks the whole time. It's Whistleblower's The podcast came
out like maybe three four years ago. Uh, definitely worth
to listen if you're into that, and it talks about
it and weird stuff like rob Such a massive percentage
of NBA refs are from all from this one small

(11:50):
town in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
And it's like an absurd percentage.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Like rest can be from anywhere in America, really anywhere
in the world. Why is there this weird tendency that
are all from this little small Pence outside of Philadelphia
suburb and you know, Penz, it's like when you listen
to that podcast, little things that make what is that
all about?

Speaker 5 (12:10):
It just but that game.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
They talked to a bunch of players from that game,
and yeah, they're all convinced that that one was might
have been some some issues in that game to say
the least.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Yeah, well it's part of it too.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
And you remember how when they had that big scandal
with the tax evasion and they were cashing in tickets.
Did you remember that with the referees? That was another
big scandal. But I think what you just talked about
had to do with people getting like, you know, people
in to do you know, when the openings come and
the people do the hiring and they hire people, you

(12:46):
know what I mean, Like, yeah, those dust one of
those situations where you figure out why other people can't
get in.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
They don't have the end.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
They don't know that there's an opening and they don't
somebody from that area is in charge of hiring, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Like it it's bad.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
It's yeah, man, when you just yeah, you do a
little deep dive, it gets a little make you scratchy
chin a little bit.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Like no doubt, all right? Eight seven seven.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Night, These things are a bit strange.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Ninety nine on Fox. Are you buying a dip on
Tyrese Halliburton? Like like, what what happened here?

Speaker 5 (13:21):
Like? What?

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Like? Can you explain it? How do you go from
twenty three shots to seven shots? Was it explained the
knicks to something that all of a sudden he couldn't
get a shot off?

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Or do you just stop shooting? What was that?

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
It is the Odd Couple on a funky Flashback Friday,
Rob Parker kelvin Washington, right on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Stick and stay.

Speaker 6 (13:44):

Fox Sports Radio. It's the Odd Couple, Rob Parker, kelvin Washington.
I don't know this a funky flashback Friday. We appreciate
you rocking with your boys on this Friday. And for
over forty years, hi Iraq has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive
shit fast and free back by free road hazard protection
with convenient insulation options like mobile tire installation, tirerack dot Com.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
The way tire buying should be.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
All right, Robin and I talking about Halliburton, who we've
been singing his praises, but my.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
Goodness, what the heck was that last night?

Speaker 4 (14:37):
I still believe in that stock, he's an Amazon stock,
and Applestock is gonna rise back up, but was definitely
disappointed last night. Do the nixt have them figured out?
What's the issue? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox?
Who we got Chili?

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Tim in Atlanta? You're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Chili?

Speaker 7 (14:54):
You know what?

Speaker 8 (14:55):
Rob's Kelvin? How you guys doing tonight?

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Man doing great? How are you chilly?

Speaker 8 (15:00):
I'm Chili, Chilli, I'm good man. I'm not surprised that
the next one, Uh what I was telling around g
what getting with these guys like Halibert and Anthony Edwards
and some of these other guys like you didn't have
to tell him Jay or some of the other Charles Party.
Do you have to tell them to be aggressive and

(15:21):
shoot the ball? The other guys like, can we please
get the ball tonight? I mean, I just don't understand,
like you you're in the you're playing for the conference finals,
and somebody has to tell you to be aggressive. That
part I don't understand these young guys, like the mentality
of how they play, and I think that goes to
you know, today's mentality for a lot of things. But uh,

(15:43):
let's face it, the NBA probably would rather have the
next if you got a salvage, you know, series.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Have no doubt about it.

Speaker 9 (15:51):
Yeah, Indiana New York.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Game's been in the championship in twenty five years. You
don't what what they.

Speaker 8 (15:59):
Would love to have? The Knicks rather than the Paces
and the thunder so right, and then.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Knowing that and knowing that I'm not giving the knicks
any I'm not taking my foot off the gas right
like I'm not. I'm not gonna let the NBA uh
do some monkey business in game six and then have
to go back to New York for Game seven. Kelvin,
you know what I mean, without a doubt, right, because
there might be some monkey business in game six.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
Thanks for the call, Yeah, thanks, appreciate you. Charlie. When
you look at the numbers. By the way, real quick.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Halliburton hasn't made over eight field goal field goals made
except for that game four where he went crazy, So
he had five May, seven May and then the eleven
in the game went crazy, and then two May last night.
So I think he has to again this next level.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
These guys are saying we wanted to shoot forty times,
but it just seemed like right.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
But I think he.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Has to exactly understand he is the catalyst and sometimes
being the catalyst is you making the shots and creating
and getting this shots.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Anthony in Spokane, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports WADO.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
What's up, Anthony?

Speaker 10 (17:07):
Hey, guys, how's it going?

Speaker 5 (17:08):
Doing good?

Speaker 10 (17:10):
First time call the long time listening there. I hope
you guys have having a great.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Man, that's awesome. How long you've been listening to be honest, Anthony,
how long?

Speaker 7 (17:18):
I would say three years?

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Yeah, thank you man. We appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
Man.

Speaker 10 (17:24):
Yeah, you guys get on at five o'clock my time,
so it's perfect right when I get off work. But
as far as your question with Haliburton, I think he
is honestly more of a facilitator. If you think about that,
and it's just like Jimmy Butler in the Golden States series,
there was periods of times where he took his foot
off the gas. I think for him, this is gonna

(17:45):
be one of those series that's going to be hard
to predict because how the Knicks are their dogs. They
can I can easily see them forcing this to a
Game seven, just like I can see Haliburton. You could
see it either way. I wouldn't be surprise either way.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
But you know what, if you had to pick one,
Let's have you pick one, Anthony, what are you expecting?

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Because I'm I'm expecting the Pacers to win.

Speaker 10 (18:09):
I do, yes, my my my mind would say the
Pacers to win. My heart would want to see a
game set taking him to Game sevens in New York.
Even if I'm on the West Coast, I still appreciate
the dogs that the Knicks are, And uh, that's what
I'm hoping for, all.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Right, Anthony would appreciate you are Kelly there my mind
telling me, but my heart is my heart.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Kelly reference.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
I mean that's what he sounded like with that song.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Kevin in Culver City. I'm just saying, Kevin and Culver City.
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Kevin.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
We're going out for wings, me, you and God.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
All the time we're doing it, Kevin, make sure, he said, Kevin,
make sure he says it's Grace too.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
While he's yes, well, I'm in your free wing.

Speaker 7 (19:01):
I was thinking the same thing that Kevin was thinking
when he said that. I'm just saying I was too.
You're not too far. Look, I think the thing with
Tyreese Halliburn is very simple. It's very clear. Tom Thibodeau,
the nick said, Tyreese Halliburn is not gonna beat us.
Everywhere he went, there were two or three guys on

(19:21):
him and they followed him, so he, you know, he
couldn't really get going because they were they were swarming him.
I think Halliburn another thing, too, is the fifteen or
six game happened. He just felt like, you know, I
gotta be Jason Kidds. No, now, you gotta be Kobe Bryant.
Put your mama Minchalitie on and take all the shots.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
I don't want him to take thirty shots.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
I don't want him to take thirty shots, but seven shots.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
That's that's all.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
I'm saying, that's just that, Kevin, I hear you, and
I'm not asking him to come out of character and
do something that that you know you don't need him
to do or be somebody he's not.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
But we know he can do better than that.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Like your dad, no shots win with him shooting seven shots.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
That's how I looked at it.

Speaker 7 (20:02):
Absolutely. But the thing that's dangerous they gotta be careful
because if they was just next game, then anything can
happen in game seven and they play like they got
they got a game at the crib, and you know,
when you start getting tired in that next game, all
the Nicks say, hey, don't let'sten to game seven. An
Indian in game seven and anything can happen with the referee.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
No, well, you don't want to put it.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
Back before they go back to New York with Spike
Lee and Rob Well.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
I agree with that because once you allow the referees
to get involved, you can get your feelings hurt.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
And we've seen teams that happen to you know what
I mean. You don't want the.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Referees to affect anything or some call or whatnot.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
So yeah, you don't want to mess around half Toipodeau,
take his finally, unfold his arms and start coaching all
the way. Comb those three strands left. You know what
I'm saying, Man, he out there. He definitely got the
Homer Simpson going on with rob G. What would you job?

Speaker 5 (22:49):
I don't know how you were able to get your name,
Charles on X.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
That easily, Okay, I couldn't get mine, Charles, what's happening?

Speaker 5 (22:56):
Are you?

Speaker 9 (22:56):
Guys are all making fun of tips for not coming home?
Needs to come home though, yes.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Come home.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
You just came from the barbershop, didn't you. What did
you get done tonight? Yeah?

Speaker 9 (23:04):
Yeah, I had to get it all. I had to say.
I had everything. I got the beard, beard, trimmed eyebrows, hair,
did the whole whole work.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
I know.

Speaker 9 (23:12):
I went in.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
I knew you when you didn't have facial hair, Charles.

Speaker 9 (23:15):
What, yeah, that's long. I got back hair. I got
hair and.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
Oh yeah, all right, all right, we don't need to
know you like that.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Charles has so much back hair that they thought he
was wearing a chinchilla under his.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
Charles, did they take care of you at the shop though?

Speaker 1 (23:35):
You know I owned one on seven Mile, you know
in Detroit, UH Sporty cuts seven mile between out of driving.

Speaker 9 (23:42):
Myers diversifying there you go.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Always all right, let's get some NFL stuff from you. Uh,
the Steelers, the Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
You know, we've heard all the stories.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
That were waiting, but they were waiting until the OTAs
were over because he didn't want to sign and not go.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Is that what you've heard or you've heard something different?

Speaker 9 (24:08):
Well, I so here's my thing. Go back before the draft.
The day before the draft, Omar Khan, the general manager,
and obviously Mike Tomlin, the head coach, sitting there and
they're being pressed about the quarterback spot, and obviously it's
everything's alluding to Rogers. And what I thought was interesting
was both of those guys said, Omar said, look, we're

(24:33):
going to have four quarterbacks. He said, you know, we
got two. He basically luded picking up a third in
the draft, and then he said, we plan on having
our fourth in place by training camp. And then I
thought it was interesting because Mike Tomlin then later followed
that up by saying his line of demarcation in terms
of like having the whole team together, having everybody wanting
everybody in place, was training camp, and I think they

(24:57):
were leaving the door open to Aaron Rodgers potent not
showing up until training camp. Now do I do? I
think they would like him there for full squad minis
on what I think June tenth is when it kicks off,
because then.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
That's why a lot of people are saying that he's
going to be there, that it's okay, that's the day,
you know, right before that.

Speaker 9 (25:18):
Sure, everybody says that, but I'm just saying my problem is, like,
I don't think anybody knows what Aaron Rodgers is doing.
Like I don't. It's it's been so quiet around him
this offseason. I mean, people people that I would tap
into that were, you know, at least used to be
on his inner circle, they've they've heard nothing, Like they're

(25:40):
they're like, the flow of information is going one way
and it's not out. And so I think to me,
it was interesting because it was like, oh, he'll sign
with them after the draft, and then the draft came
and went, and then it was, oh, he'll sign with
them after the schedule release because he doesn't want to
be caught up and you know, influencing the schedule. So
the Steelers games and then that came and went right.

(26:03):
So then then it's well, oh now it's it's after OTA.
So it'll be after Oka OTA and they'll be before
a full squad mini camps. We keep moving the goalposts
on this, right, Like, so, what does that tell you?
It tells you people don't know what he's doing. He
knows what he's doing. I tend to personally believe that
the team wants him to be there, and I think

(26:25):
he's smart enough to know it's it's it's a bad
idea to sit there and wait until late July to
show up and now start to get to know the facility,
start to get to know other veterans, you know, start
working on some of that chemistry. And what's really interesting
is if you go back, this is great if you
go back in twenty twenty three that offseason when he

(26:46):
joined the Jets, he showed up for I think all
ten of their OTAs, the Jets OTAs, and he got
at like, why you know, why do you think it's
important to be here? And he basically flat out was
like talking about I need people to get to know me.
What I'm like, what I you know, what I want?
How I communicate and and basically pointed to chemistry as
to why he was there, and he stressed that if

(27:08):
you're if you're going into a new offense, it's important
for you to be there most you know, he says,
most of the time, the off season is for the
young guys if you've been in an offense for a
really long time. But if you haven't, you know, he's
basically saying, you know, you should be in here. Okay,
well those are your word. That was what you said
in twenty twenty three. What are we doing now? So

(27:29):
I think if he doesn't show, I think if he
doesn't show in the full squad mini is all it's
going to do is continue to add fuel to the
fire for the people throughout the league who are like
suspicious that Rogers is waiting to let the Vikings get
every last look at JJ McCarthy they can, maybe even
including through their full squad mini camp and hoping that

(27:51):
maybe the Vikings will have second thoughts about parking them
in the garage for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
I think that's a good But that's a good one.
I'm so good for speculation. You're not reporting anything, You're speculating.

Speaker 9 (28:04):
No, I mean it is speculation, but I mean that
is I think that is not it's not unfair speculation.
If he does not step on the field for full
squad mini camp for the Steelers, what are you waiting for?

Speaker 7 (28:16):
Then?

Speaker 8 (28:17):
Like?

Speaker 9 (28:17):
What's the point? So you're not going to go through
full squad mini's Like why why are you waiting?

Speaker 1 (28:21):
And if he does, it would be all of this
was about what because uh, who is it Ian O'Connor,
who's the one who kind of laid out the plan
and why he did what he did, who wrote Rogers's book?
Then it would just bat up to what he basically
said that he didn't want to sign before the OTAs
because he was going through some stuff and he didn't

(28:41):
want to sign and then not show up, Okay, right.

Speaker 9 (28:44):
Right, So if it doesn't happen, then, you know, then
I think it's fair to speculate why is he you know,
why is he waiting this out? As long as he is,
I think he will be there. I don't know that
he will be there, and I don't know that anyone
really knows for sure, nos for sure, but.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Aaron Man, I tell you what and if and if
all this happens and he doesn't we Rob and I
have talked about it to nausey and really, but.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Is Kirk cousins now they're back up Kirk.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
I'll call him Kirk, your cousin, not my cousin, because
the way he played last season coming off to injury
a year ago. I mean, is that the answer is
that with it we wait on Rogers and okay, now
we wait on a possible trade with for Cousins.

Speaker 9 (29:25):
I mean, I I think it's a break the glass option.
I don't think that's where the Steelers want to be,
you know, I think that, but they've painted themselves into
a corner here and I here's my thing. I I know,
you know, I've spent time with Omar Khan, some time
with Mike Tomlin. I refuse to believe that there's not
a handshake deal like already done, Like there's just I

(29:46):
refuse to believe these guys.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
I'm with you one hundred percent, did not did not naive.
Come on, man, I just don't believe that.

Speaker 9 (29:54):
And you know, Omar Khan came up, you know, through
that organization, you know, under Colbert, Kevin Colbert. I mean
he's you know, yeah, they know what they're doing. And
so does Mike Tomlins not their first barbecue, like, I
think they absolutely visited. I think he laid it out
to them, here's what I want to do. I think

(30:15):
there was a handshake deal. You know, I'm coming to you, guys.
We're good. Just you got to wait. I'm going to
take care of my business and then this is ultimately
when i'll you know, I'll show up, and I do.
I think that's going to end up being, you know,
mini camp. And the thing is, once he's out there
and he's spinning it, no one will care anymore. And
I think in terms of Kirk, he's just stuck. He's landlocked.

(30:35):
There's really no outs for him, and the Falcons are
already paying him, you know. And I know he's he's
upset at Arthur Blank. I think he feels like Arthur
Blank lied to him, right. But Arthur Blank's rationale is, man,
i'm paying you, so to me, I don't care if
you're making all that money sitting on the bench the
way the way Arthur Blank is looking at it. He's
his thought processes. I committed X amount of money to

(30:57):
my two quarterbacks. I don't care which one starts, as
long as the one you know, the best one out there.
Spind It starts, I'm fine, that's the money. I committed
to the position. That's how I'm approaching it. And it
makes no sense in his mind to deal Kirk somewhere
else for for what a late round pick, a little
salary release, and then he's got to go out and
sign another backup quarterback. It just it just doesn't make

(31:17):
a lot.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Hey, one last thing, I know, we're running short on time.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Uh, the Browns passed on Shador five rounds and then
all of a sudden picked him or whatever five picks
and picked him. And now everything out of camp is
he's the best thing since life spread?

Speaker 5 (31:31):
What's what's the truth?

Speaker 9 (31:33):
Does that surprise you?

Speaker 4 (31:35):
No?

Speaker 1 (31:35):
I mean you know what I'm saying, right, and now
he's the greatest quarterback who ever played.

Speaker 9 (31:39):
Yeah, I mean it's I knew this was going to
be trouble when rookie you know, they had rookie mini
camps started, and there was this piece of footage where
it was like a reporter joking about how he was tall.
He was taller than Dylan Gabriel. I'm like, oh, here
we go, man, it's already starting with the guys five
to ten. You know, he's a short quarterback. And then

(31:59):
and then almost immediately after, there was you know, a
beat writer who came out and said that, you know,
Shador was much better. He looked much better throwing the
football than Dylan Gabriel did. And I'm like, yeah, you know, okay,
this is what they I mean, this is what they
signed up for. This is how this was going to go.
And it's why, you know, I'll never be fully convinced
that that fifth round pick was just about value. You know,

(32:23):
it's I know they've tried to avoid this idea that
it was the ownership pick. But you know, I've known
Andrew Berry long time, really respect him. You know, a
dude went to Harvard. He was a Wall Street guy
before he got it into football. Extremely smart. You know,
if he gets asked the owner influenced the pick. You
went to Harvard, it's the one word answer, yes or no.

(32:43):
And he said, you know, Jimmy, lets us do our jobs.
I'm like, bro, that's five words too many, Like he
has six words you just said for a one word answer.
That to me is going to continue to at least
in my mind, I'll always think, you know, was this
really the pick they wanted to make in the fifth
round knowing what it was going to do in that
quarterback room. I still think there's a chance Kenny Pickett

(33:04):
is the one who starts the season there. And uh,
I'll tell you what, if you're the Steelers, especially with
Terry Bradshaw here saying that you know, Steelers ruined him,
never gave him a shot, that's gonna be a weird
storyline to watch. If Kenny Picket's the starter in Cleveland,
and if he's even a modestly okay quarterback in Cleveland,
it's gonna look bad in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
Well, Charles, we appreciate your time. I'm just laughing at
you talking about you. You know, Mike Tomlin knows what
he's doing with the quarterback. I don't know about that, Charles.
I don't know if it's been proven that they know
what they're doing at the quarterback I don't know.

Speaker 9 (33:34):
I don't know if I don't know if they necessarily
know what they're doing with the quarterback position. But he
he I think just in general, Mike knows what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
I get it, I get it now, I get it.
He's he's had he's had a good tenure. I feel
you in that, Charles, Thank you, man. Appreciate your time.

Speaker 9 (33:49):
All right, gents, take it easy, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Man.

Speaker 4 (33:51):

if y'all want to happen, Let's okay, Alex.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
You're listening, Alex, he's always listening. This is not the

Speaker 4 (36:46):
