about twenty eight minutes, TJ. Houshman's out of the former
Pro Bowl wide receiver and co host of uppoint Game
here on Fox Sportsuaitia. He'll join us as well. We'll
do that and for people who are wondering later on
in this hour two, we'll talk about the historic collapse
by the New York Metropolitans. You know, Rich Davis, who's
the biggest him and Jason. I don't know is Jason

(01:45):
Smith even coming to work or coming in you know
what I mean?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Like, yes, I mean imagine they did a show together.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I mean talk about misery, right Ryan, You know Jason
that lives and dies.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
And Rich was sick. We saw him, you know, Rick
was Rich was sick. Shout to Rich. We both laughed
at the same time. When you start lying to yourself,
you know, like I was thinking, okay, so so what
didn't make it?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You know, because I would have to buy tickets I
could save money on save I saved money. No, when
you start doing that, that's when you know you're sick.
You start rashing lying, which he's trying to rash your lives. No, no, no,
when you and I mean his team, the Mets got
Wan Soto. You didn't think you were gonna be saving
money in Octobe. You were already baby, right, that wasn't

(02:28):
the goal. Like in October, I might not be home
and some things going on. Give you an example. That
would be like me saying, the Lions are up seventeen
on the forty nine ers and then they end up losing.
But I ain't want to go to the super Bowl anyway, right,
like that, that tickets, that tickets were fundable, that I ordered,
that halftime is refundable. Shoot, thank god, I ain't going
to the super Bowl. I would have had to buy

(02:48):
a ticket and airflight the hotel man out at the
time of my life. So yeah, Rich, you're my guy.
But he was trying to make it up, trying to
judge the fun. But none that I think about it.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
No doubt. Not good.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
All right, So yesterday another game began, two teams with
just one win each.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Now on the biggest game of the week. This was crazy,
but you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
You got the Chiefs and this time it counts and
the Ravens went to Kansas City and not only did
they get bad barbecue, they got barbecue period.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
One of the boys was on the grill sizzlings. It
just was not good. Uh and uh in that where
are you on?

Speaker 3 (03:27):
When was your takeaway from that? Because there's two sides.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
You could look at it and I and actually I
actually agree because there are too Depending on how you
look at it can go either way. I'm gonna start
with the one I said last week, Elijah Boy, I
might need you to make me rewind take up on this.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I told y'all don't worry about the Chiefs were coming.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I told y'all that the Chiefs explosive offense was coming.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
I told y'all said, they get exavi you Worthy back.
What does he do? He's thirty eight yard run.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Thenviously get twenty and thirty yard passes all over the place.
They give Shee Rice coming back in another couple of weeks.
Don't make that phrase, Ryan, I saw you in here.
They're coming. They're getting explosive more and more. Patrick mahomes
boy for two cent Worthy.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
He had one of his numbers. He had the thirty
eight yard run and his total numbers. What do you
have two hundred yards he only had, But no, I said,
I don't need it to do.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
I need him to make a thirty eight yard run,
I just wondered, I need him to have a twenty
five and a thirty plus yard That's all I needed.
And you look, give me, give me his me time
numbers since you came home to hit me with two
hundred and sixty four yards. Wow, four touchdowns, that three
and thirty seven and complete obliteration and dominance over the
Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
And then the other side of the ball. What they said.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
You know what, Lamar, you are who you are. You play,
you play the ball, You play the position very well.
But dange, Lamar, we're gonna make you look like it's
the playoffs where you have been questionable at times.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Lamar out here throwing bad interceptions.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Lamar Jackson's out here running in he got a back fumble,
running to the back of his lineman, fumbling the ball
looks bad. On the third couple of third down conversions,
it had them all frazzled and it looked like a
pure dominance from the team. Yes, the Ravens defense is
not great, we know that. But the Chiefs did what
they were supposed to do. If you got a bad defense,
let me exploit it. Your defense is sucking right now,

(05:16):
let me go ahead and put some points up on
your head to the tune of thirty seven. So they
did exactly what they want to do. And then I
told you that the Ravens, we're gonna start falling apart
when they say.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
That's why I said it's a must win when.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
We were talking about that, said for Detroit, because if
you're the Ravens, you lose, you're gonna start falling apart.
And then they go to the Chiefs, they fall apart,
and they're getting literally fall apart, guys getting hurt all
over the side, all called the national football without a doubt,
and Lamar's frazzle. And I've seen now him and Derrick
Henry in two weeks, both slamming helmets, falling all over
benches and everything.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
So I just think the Chiefs a bit one of
the seventy five percent clips. So it does so when you.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Start one and three, they're just too talented to be
one in three.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I don't. I don't.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
All the helmets slamming and all that, that's child, Okay,
I agree, that's childish.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
I'm just not used to seeing them like this right now.
Frids with John Harbor don't know what they're doing.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Well, what did I say? Where one was that week one? Yeah?
You want them gone? Okay? Yeah that was week one? Yeah,
yeah one? Okay, So I stand on what I said.
Go back.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
People said to me, Rob, you're overreacting, prisoner of the moment.
Oh you know, did John Harbaugh? What are you saying?
Oh no, this is what I was saying, And this
is what I was talking about, because it ain't about
the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday. What it ain't in three
of their law and their three law losses. They're giving

(06:40):
up forty one, thirty seven, and thirty eight, like they're
almost giving up forty points a game.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
You're not winning anything. I don't care, Derek Henry lamar Jack.
I don't care.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Defensively, the Lions, they're still rushing for yards two hundred,
like the Lions can run the ball two hundred and
fifty yards on the ground at home. Seriously, their defense
is like a golf course like Swiss cheat their holes everywhere.
And my point is this has been going on for

(07:14):
a while and unless you're gonna fire the defensive coordinator,
make some changes or John Harbaugh and say, dude, like
he's been here for a long time. This keeps happening.
They got way on paper, they have way too much talent.
We talk about it all the time. At some point,
you can't keep doing the same thing. You can't keep
saying running the same people and the same coaches out there.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
That's why, Like, like.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
The Giants weren't expected San Francisco, John, were they expected
to win anything this year?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
No, no, what they do?

Speaker 3 (07:46):
They ran Bob Melvin out after two years of ugh,
Like and I get it, John Harbaugh won a Super
Bowl that was many moons ago. Like, at some point,
we need you to do something else, Like there's no reason.
And all I'm saying is, yes, Kansas City got off.
They're two and two. The Ravens are one and three.
Kansas City still has other teams and games. That was

(08:08):
like a one off and unbelievable how bad they had
been offensively that they finally got Patrick Mahomes didn't even
have three hundred yards, but he got four touchdowns and
you know he had a good game.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
I'm not and Lamar struggled and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I'm not writing off the Ravens only because of the
division at their win the division and the one team
who I said was gonna win more than ten games
better bet on it is the Pittsburgh Steelers who have
now three wins, one loss and haven't won one game
at home yet, like one home game, which is really
really a great start if you would have asked them

(08:44):
about it.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah, I mean the they credit them for winning games
that if you were watching the game, they could have lost.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
It could have lost to the Patriots.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
They could have lost who was the first one I
was with the Bears, but and they found a way
to win.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
So I credit them. But I want to go back
to the Ravens.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
What the issue I have with the Ravens is when
it hits the fire, all of them, you can't.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
I can't, John Harball.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Something seems a little bit off with the play call
and when they're going to go for fourth out, should
we do this? Lamar Jackson gets a little tight when
the defense can't look lockdown and buckle down, and you
can't have all three phases to me be frazzled and
looking frantic. And that's why, like if the Chiefs aren't scoring,
which they haven't been, dud.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
There's no denying that their defense can lock in.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
And I think since twenty twenty three they've had the
lowest points per game on the defensive and holding teams
like seventeen eighteen game you say super Bowl, answer that one, okay,
but that got them to the Super Bowl. And I'm
saying they can only say, all right, our defense gonna
keep us in it.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
We got a shot.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
The reason why I see the Stroud has been in
so many games over the last year, year and a
half that you'd be like, how in it? Because his
defense kept giving him a chance. Here's the ball back,
all right, try to go win this all right? Man, Hey,
here's the ball less scoring a few touchdown, right, And
that's why they would be in so many games that
you feel like, how are the Texans still in this game?
And that's what the thing that worries me about the
Ravens right now is that from the coaching for Lamar

(10:05):
tighten it up and say I got this, I'll make
it happen in the crunch moments for the defense saying Daniel,
we we gonna let y'all down all game.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
We're gonna lock down in this fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
I'm not getting that from and I'm getting that from
the better teams right there somewhere where the Eagles. We
can talk about how bad they were. We'll get on
that in a bit in the second half. But their
defense at all right, we're not gonna le anybody else score.
We're gonna the special teams. We're gonna block two field
goals last week. That's what concerns me about the Ravens.
Who's going to stand up?

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Man up?

Speaker 1 (10:32):
And it seems like when it starts going down, the
whole thing spirals out of control. And I don't like
that from a team that I put in the Dagon
Super Bowl. If you look at the sheet right there,
ro O Chiefs Lions, I said, ah, not the Chiefs
this year. I put the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Daggit.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
You say your first picks, the first guess is always
the best. I should have stuck with that. The way
the Ravens playing right now, stop, that's my concern, Rode
rob They can't stop from faltering, like you know what
I mean, Like if they're like we've seen Josh Allen defense,
let point, but Josh Allen said, hop on the back
I'm gonna get it done.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
And that's gotten anything done.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
I mean, I'm saying he's won games where he's like,
I'm gonna get this thing done.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
And to me, John Harbor, I'll give you credit. I
don't think you fire him? Why not? What?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
What?

Speaker 4 (11:14):
What?

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Like?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
What?

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Like?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Seriously like seriously, I'm coming off these these games where
you're this is these are bad games, like nothing has
changed here like you would think. Okay, we we that
game one was terrible in Buffalo. We gotta make some changes.
We gotta do something different. We gotta send the house
on these quarterbacks. Put more pressure.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
We gotta do. We cannot do what we're doing.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Okay, and all you're doing is giving up almost forty
points a game in your losses.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
The reason why we're going to talk about I'm not
letting him go because when you look at the Ravens,
they have been a stable and a good, very good
organization for twenty twenty five years.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Okay, I say so, and.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
I get I'm not mad as if you say that
that's not crazy. I understand that. For me, I love stability.
I love knowing what I have. I love I have
my shot every year to get to the postseas AFC
Championship and from there get to the super Bowl. You
never know. And he has provided that. I have a
culture which it thrives for Lamar to thrive and win
seventy five percent these games. We do have to tweet

(12:11):
the defense. The defense had been better the last prior
to the last couple of seas. That's another justin fields
fumble where am I?

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Yeah, I don't know. They looked it. Oh yeah, they
look bad. It wasn't fumble. You talk about a toilet
bowl of a game.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
My gosh, well this was like nineteen ninety four five
or something.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
This will be a game not right now. So but yeah,
that's my issue.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
And if go back to the Chiefs, that offense is
starting again, ty ty Kwan Thornton got a touchdown.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Did you give me those numbers on what you mean
numbers for Worthy total? That was his one hundred and
twenty one yards for Worthy total game.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
One hundred and twenty one yards for Worthy, right, explosive
running the ball, passing on and that's what they have
been waiting on. He finally comes back shows you what
he does. One hundred and twenty one total yards for Worthy.
I got Rashid Rice coming defense is playing great. Tai
Kwan Thornton seems like a nice fine in the gym.
All of a sudden, Juju Shuster Smith is playing well.
I just feel like we're about to see some really

(13:07):
good ball from the Chiefs. Not saying twenty twenty twenty
twenty one Chiefs, but in between, it ain't gonna be
that great, but it's definitely not gonna be. It's gonna
better than we seen the last couple of seasons. And
the Chiefs are all of a sudden gonna be on
the rise. And that's what I walked away the last
couple of weeks. I told you, Oh, they're they're coming,
and the League should have beat them when they were down.
And they did beat them. What do you mean, beat

(13:27):
them when they're down? They did beat them. No, the Eagles,
I said, the league. They beat the League up to
the tune of fifteen and one with Mahomes. Yeah, but
the Eagles handed them. Oh that wasn't impressible, all right?
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. I wanted Elijah
if they hada won the Super Bowl eating I mean,
that was the worst Super Bowl winning team of all time.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
We've seen who was that record?

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Man? They were you know after the Super Bowl, like
eighteen and two. That's what you would have said, Man,
that eighteen and two team was terrible.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Your takeaway from
the Chiefs Ravens game, Chiefs are back or the Ravens
are bad. Chiefs back or the Ravens are bad?

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Where where do you.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Fall in line? Out of those two predicaments? There are
situations because I say that the Ravens are bad more
so than the Chiefs are back, and Kelvin says that
they're back more than the Ravens are bad. We'll do that.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine. Offis It is The Couple

Speaker 4 (16:52):

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Like nobody's driving a Ford pencil dude right now and
driving a Pinto. No, this is only all like I'm
going only driving for two years and I'm bouncing back.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Baby, tell them what a new car do. I'll say

Speaker 3 (17:12):
All right, all right, Alex, everything is good. I'm gonna

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Got the next time I go to the crib, I

Speaker 7 (17:46):

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Watch seven mile road? Yep? All right, let's go. You

the west side of six mile A.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Year a Raven's bad or chiefs back. Jay in Georgia,
let's start there. You're in the couple of Fox Sports.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Ready, what's up, Jake, Kevin?

Speaker 9 (18:02):

Speaker 9 (18:11):
Oh yeah, man, you got. You gotta get the fade

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Yeah, he about to get one, my boy. He'll be tight.
He'll be tight.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
And then when you see the pictures from the weekend,
you'll be like, okay, yeah, he'll be tight.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
It was Jay, we autumn pushed through, waiting for that wedding,
waiting for that big interview whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
You got a big ceremony on Saturday. I have to wait.
I had to wait. Go ahead.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
You he being Atlanta all the time, and maybe see
I don't know why he ain't married a young girl.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
I ain't got enough money. I seen your car, bro,
you just brought it. Almost run me over in the
road today. Stop it all right? What you got Jay? Okay?

Speaker 9 (18:49):
Yeah? First of all, Kansas City fan bandwagon, Cheefe fans
all around, the clothes, the braids, the Ravens defense suck.
I don't care if you got more. Jason Michael Jason, rob.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Ron Parker Jackson is crazy.

Speaker 11 (19:08):
Like did the Chiefs.

Speaker 9 (19:09):
They're not that good. The Ravens even worse. Everybody on
the chief band wagon just punt the breaks.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
All right.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
I'll see you in February.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Jay, yeah, oh yeah, who dies.

Yo yo yo.

Speaker 10 (19:30):
Appreciate y'all taking a call.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
Thank you, buddy, Yeah, no problem.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
I have to speak on the Ravens and Chiefs.

Speaker 10 (19:35):
You know, everybody saying is the Chiefs back?

Speaker 5 (19:38):
Man? Where did they go?

Speaker 10 (19:39):
You know what I mean? We got to understand when
we talk about Brady, they say he had three Hall
of Fame careers. I think Patrick mahons to get that
same respect. And also football is played.

Speaker 9 (19:50):
Any given Sunday man.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
People going by these these regular seasons.

Speaker 10 (19:55):
All that matters is when you get in the playoffs
and I'm putting my bread on Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 9 (20:00):
When it's in the fourth.

Speaker 10 (20:00):
Quarter and the game's on the line, the owner needs
to win. Everybody needs a win.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
That's what we're talking about.

Speaker 9 (20:06):
We're not talking about Week three.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Yeah no, I know, I feel you. And that's the
scary part to me.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Trey appreciate the call trays that they're about to get
all their offensive weapons back.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
That's what makes me feel more scary. To me, they
had a new.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes is about to look around like I
got toys about to be a kid on Christmas. I
got some new toys, boy, like when I got by
nineteen ninety three, I got my second genesis. You couldn't
tell me nothing.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Tim in Atlanta, Chili, Tim, you're on the eye. Couple
of five lives, ready to feel me whatever.

Speaker 11 (20:36):
I'm good, man, I'm good. A couple quick points. First
of all, I think what the Chief showed me is
that anybody, if you get some weapons, I mean, he
has some pretty good he has some nice passes. I
ain't a lot. He threw some dimes out there last night.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
You saw that.

Speaker 11 (20:50):
No, look, yeah, But what he showed me was that,
you know, he gets some whippings. What I do like
about is that they got young receivers that they're buildingized
his second phase of the career. Jay and Georgia, man,
he gotta. I can't agree with this. Here's my thing
about the Razors. I'm gonna say this real quick. I'm
concerned because when they went out of that game, the
Marvel still in that game, they were down seventeen points.

(21:11):
Nobody on that offense. All his weapons were there, and
they were healthy and that's a problem they's been He's
been set by eleven and twelve times in the last
two games. And here's my problem with and I hate
that John Harbard is not getting the same kind of
thing that Mike Thomain is getting. If you look at
John Hobart's record with Lamart, they only beaten what he's beaten.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
C J.

Speaker 11 (21:32):
Style, Russell Wilson and Ryan Tannehill. And this team keeps
making like bumble ahead and shakes man. So why does
he not getting the same pushback from who?

Speaker 1 (21:43):
What did I say when the season started? Tim, didn't
you hear me? I think he should be fired. I've
said it once. He want more Rob Parkers, I've been
saying it, and I'm across the board the same thing
with Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Enough with five hundred, you gotta win a playoff game.
That's why Aaron Rodgers day and we talked about it.
He can't build for the future. You can't wait for
Justin Field to get good. He's got to win at
some point. You gotta win one more. The squeeze and
Drew from New Jersey, You're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
What's up, Drew, Hey, guys, I think that I don't
think that the Chiefs are back. I think obviously the
Ravens just aren't that great. But what I will say
is this. I will say that the bigger the game,
Lamar has to play better. And if you look historically,
it's not great. I looked up a status that he

(22:33):
had the fifth greatest discrepancy in Super Bowl in Super
Bowl error as far as passer rating, and the regular
season is past rating is one of three. In the postseason,
it's eighty four points. Yep, that's the fifth. That's the
fifth greatest discrepancy. So that number needs to go up.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
There's no doubt. He knows it.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Yeah, he knows it, he said. He admitted Drew that.
He said sometimes, you know, White.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Didn't win until his last two years, and he won
two Super Bowl Nobody talks about the four that he
lost before.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
That's who got to watch his toilet Bowl. I'm sorry,
I just looked at it. I happened to look at
the game again. I'm sorry. Oh, it's just awful. The
Jets game, Jets, Jets, the Dolphins. All right.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Give him a follow it up? What's up, man, my guys?

Speaker 10 (23:45):
How y'all doing?

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Man?

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Man, we're doing great.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
I want as a football player, let's go right here
a tie? Come on, man, I can't. I just it
was so unfulfilling. I didn't need a cigarette after, you
need baby oil after.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
I just had no feeling after that.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
I slightly agree with you, I really do. Like it's
just it's anti climactic, like wait, really it's gonna end
in the tie. Look for the Cowboys, they probably took
that as a win.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Yes, what did I say earlier? I said that.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
Green Bay walks in that locker room like damn, we
really lost this game. And that's how it feels. And
so you gotta give Brian Schottenheimer, Dak Prescott a ton
of credit. George Pickens when you get him targets, he
gonna do that every game. It's almost he's too talented,
and so the Packers got to be better. But you

(24:39):
got to get a Cowboys credit.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yeah, I said that to Rob, I said Schottenheimer, and
just they look prepared for specifically Micah, but they look
prepared offensively. They had a game plan, they got the
ball out quick, and they and if Micah doesn't sack,
you know, make that tack on deck, they might he
might run ends on the win that game in a
dramatic fashion. But I want to go to look like,
yeah it did. Let me go to the Packers and

(25:01):
what are you making them? They were super Bowl champions
after week one.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
I know everybody didn't.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
And now they're sitting here two one and one and
you don't look beatable, And what do you make of them?
They're obviously the offense is still good because that both
quarterbacks went crazy, But what are you making the Packers?

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Here we are at the.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Week for I'm not gonna lie. I almost crowned on
Super Bowl champions. I was part of that.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
You in that group, that's right. I appreciate your honesty.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
Hey, I'm not gonna lie. The Packers just have to
get back to the basic speaking of the Packers, like
the last second, last player for the field goal? Can
you have a sense of urgency?

Speaker 4 (25:37):
Were like, what was that? Right?

Speaker 5 (25:39):
What are you doing when you have a time out?
You got to communicate that to Jordan Love And if
you don't, he has to understand I gotta get rid
of his ball right now. We almost lost the game
because of a lack of awareness. But to me, this
should be an eye opener. This should be a lesson
learned for the Green Bay Packers. I don't know if

(26:00):
they took the Cowboys lightly. I doubt it very seriously.
But if they did, you gotta lock in because it's
on that division that they're in. The Vikings aren't playing well,
but defensively they're always gonna present a problem. The Detroit
Lions Chicago Bears. Now they look like with being Johnson
and Caleb like they're starting to figure it out. So
they gonna they better lock in because I was a

(26:21):
part of the group that said, oh green baylet's almost unbeatable.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Yes, and and you know, like and like a lot
of teams, it ain't that easy. That's why you play
every week and those things happen. I said after week
one that John Harball should be fired. So I'm not
Johnny come lately some drawing with the defense. Somebody's gotta
be fire changed. Whatever it is they give up in
their three losses, almost forty points a game, like you

(26:48):
gotta you can't stop the run, you can't get off
the field third down. I mean, this is bad, This
is really bad.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Right now? What do you do?

Speaker 9 (26:58):
Man?

Speaker 5 (26:58):
You've been saying this every Monday that they need to
get rid of harball and I disagree with you, and
I still disagree with you.

Speaker 11 (27:03):
But what do they do?

Speaker 5 (27:05):
Players got to make plays like you know, y'all can't
stop the run, stop the damn or staying your gap,
do your job and stop the run. But better yet,
just run the ball. They average over ten yards to carry.
They averaged over ten they're carrying I believe that five carries,
Like are you kidding me? Five carries?

Speaker 9 (27:28):
And so yeah, but there you go.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
But but that's my coaching thing that I'm talking about,
because even when they lost, when they've lost some playoff games,
they win in with a with an offense where Lamar
is throwing the ball every down and they're running team.
You remember that that was another that was another game.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
This happens way too often, TJ. You're always disappointed. They
got way too much talent. This is what I'm saying, Oh, no.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
They have They have talent on paper, yeah, they have talent,
but they got to put it together. Like I, I
don't know what Zach gor is calling defensively, but I
know at the end of the day, when you play defense,
I gotta dominate the guy in front of me. If
I'm a corner, I can't let this receiver catch the ball.
If I'm a defensive lineman, I got to man handle

(28:15):
the offensive lineman and the guy across from me. You
got to have a sense of pride and dominate the
guy in front of you. Our coaches gonna make bad casts, yes,
our players gonna make bad plays, yes, But at the
end of the day, I have to dominate you more
than you dominate me. And if that happens, and we
can do that at nine of eleven positions, we're gonna win.
Right now, the Baltimore Ravens player, they're not doing that defensively,

(28:37):
but on paper they have a great team. But the
game is played on the field, not paper.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Let me ask you about the Pittsburgh Steelers three and one.
They don't have a home win. Yet, I mean off
to a great start. What do you make of where
they are? And now they're in the driver's seat in
that division?

Speaker 5 (28:59):
The Steelers, Uh, it's hard to gauge them, right. They
played the New England Patriots and last week, well, let's
go to the Vikings game. They played the Vikings in Ireland,
get out to a lead and they kind of hold on.
Carson Wentz as a backup quarterback. I don't know if
JJ McCarthy would do much better, but they win that game.

(29:22):
But I'm gonna point to the New England game in
week three and say, you get five turnovers and you
barely win the game. So I don't know what the
Steelers are because they had yet to play a team,
in my opinion, that I felt like could really challenge
them on paper. They're defensively, they struggled in to start

(29:44):
the season. No, they did, definitely, and they're they're getting
better now. The defense is playing better defense, and you
know that's gonna happen with a Mike Townley defense in
the Pittsburgh Steelers. Offensively, can they continue? I mean d
Casual seems like he's making a big play every single game.
Can they continue to get big plays from Aaron Rodgers

(30:04):
and DK. Aaron Rodgers playing the best football he's played
his twenty twenty one.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Hey, TJ.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Who's out of our guests all with the odd couple?
Robin Kelvin on a Magic City Monday, Real quick, last
one for me, real quick?

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Jackson Dark gets to start.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Doesn't look great, But if you can tell TJ, he
energized that team. What's that like when when guys say,
we got our young guy and he plays well, Justin Herbert?

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Justin Herbert wasn't great. He wasn't great.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Rush for a touchdown? Passport touchdown? What do you make
of Jackson Dark?

Speaker 5 (30:35):
I'm happy for Jackson dart Man. I've been knowing him
since he was in high school. He trains with us,
been training with us for years man. And that attitude,
that that infectious energy that he has about him, He's
always had that, and you're gonna follow him. He's just
a natural leader. He's gonna prepare the right way. He's
a quarterback that he doesn't have to go right. You

(30:56):
just go follow him because of who he is. And
he's always had that from when he was a teenager
coming out here to train. I'm happy that he won
that game. And you can see after the game the
way him and Dable they kind of like butted heads
and rough heads together. It was like, I knew you
can do it. That's what I'm talking about that Dabel
was that type of coach where he wants his players
to play with that type of edge. Jackson Dart was

(31:19):
raised to play with that type of edge by his father,
and so to me, it's a perfect match. Defense played great.
He only threw four hundred yards, but he made timely plays.
I'm hoping he can continue to play well.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Man.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
I root for Jackson Dart. He's one of my favorite
young guys in the league. Playing in New York is
gonna be hard. Now Neighbors is gone, so it's gonna
get harder. But I believe that Jackson Dart will surprise
some people when that defense. They gonna keep you on game.
Just don't turn the ball over. You're in every game.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Yeah, I'm not there yet, And I get it. You
have a relationship with him, and he played I always
put that out no no, no, no, no, you do I know,
and that's fine. And people have no people or whatever
they want to see them do well, and I'm cool
with that. I don't have any issues that. Just justin Herbert,
that was a bad loss for them. I don't care
what anybody a couple last week, rookie quarterback, the whole nine.

(32:16):
You can't lose to the Giants. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
When I when I heard they announced Jackson Dart as
a starter, I said, okay, the Charger is gonna be foreign. Oy. Hey,
I said, the Chiefs better win because they're gonna be
in a big hole in that division. And so that
was a socker, rookie quarterback making his first thought, yes,
play on defense the way Herbert had been looking. I
was shocked. I was shocked by that.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
And that's it. That's the NFL.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Every time you think you're gonna go down and cash
out out the window because it's got a short thing,
some game like that happens and then you're like, uh, oh,
all right, welcome.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
To the NFL. TJ appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
May appreciate you, hey man, y'all keep the great work, fellas,
no doubt, man, we'll be right back at it next
week as we always saw. All right, Uh, the historic
collect apps of the New York Mets, should we call
Jason Smith, Rich David Should we get them on the show?

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Should we do that? Or maybe they're sick of us,
they don't want to talk about that. It's the Oco

at Harlem Globetrotters Dot all Right, Rob Collapse collapse, epic

(34:05):
No No, No, we're not talking about the Tigers.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
You know what, they just barely were able to get in,
thank god, because they looked like they were gonna.

Speaker 4 (34:11):
Be this could have win a couple of different ways.
We're going to two epic collapses, and we didn't.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
But the Mets, and the reason we bring up the
Mets compared to the Tigers is obviously, the Tigers snuck
in the back door and they're in the playoffs and
they're gonna take on Cleveland. So you know, it's hard
to really talk about it because they.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Made the paid it. They made it, and once you're in,
you're in.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Mets didn't make the playoffs, second highest payroll behind the Dodgers,
spent a gazillion dollars for Juan Soto seven hundred and
sixty five million. Last year they went nl UH Championship
Series against the Dodgers, right and went to six games.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
They lost.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Okay, they didn't make it to the World Series, and
this year they only make the playoffs. They had the
player of his caliber, he put up, you know, an
uneven season because he started off poorly and then pitching
obviously some injuries.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
Some guys didn't get it done.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
But the bottom line is and John Hayman, baseball writer
for a long time and a friend of mine used
to work with him at Newsday, but he's at the
New York Post now and talking about what the Mets
needs to do was play. They played pretty bad baseball. Right,
Thirty nine and fifty four over their last ninety three

(35:21):
would have been good enough.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
They didn't even do that. They couldn't even do that.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Or eight and thirteen over their last twenty one. They
could have gone eight and thirteen, been good and been
enough to make the play, and they still couldn't do that.
They went down to Florida to play the Marlins, well,
the lowest payroll in baseball, couldn't beat them, lose two
out of three, and can't get it done. They have

(35:46):
an owner, Steve Cohen, who's very rich, spends money all
this kind of stuff. Money's no option. But it's a
collapse and the Mets should be ridiculed. There's no way
that this team should not Remember it's an expanded playoff.
Six teams make it, three division winners and three wild

(36:07):
They're not one of the six best teams in the
National League.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
Listen, you know what the collapse is real? Rob when
you just mentioned him. When you have an owner and
Steve Cohen who had the issue an apology, think about
that the owner. Listen, things happen right now. We got
some Monday night football on, and you know, think, okay, wow,
things happen when your owner has to come out and say,
Mets fans everywhere, I owe you an apology. You did

(36:32):
your part by showing up and support the team. We
didn't do our part. We will do a post mortem
and figure out the obvious and less obvious reasons why
the team didn't perform up to your and my expectations.
We are offully raw emotions to that. I'll stop there.
But when you got an owner, that doesn't happen often,
is all.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Do you know what the Mets did this year? I
don't even know if people they said an all time
attendance wreck.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
And I think he's trying to massage that, like we
appreciate y'all came out, y'all were excited.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
We went and got the guy came, and you came
to the ballpark and bought tickets in the record and
and and they got the other guy.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Now they didn't get the other guy in the way.
I'm sure he felt he would have liked to have
been gotten, and they the way in which you know,
they got Pete Alonzo, like, I'm sure he felt like
he was spat in the face by the way. We
got an injury Tyre Tyreek Hill getting carded out.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
I saw the leg go the other way. It was.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
It was not pretty, yeah, like seriously, like like it
went the other way.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
It was not. I saw it, which is crazy.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
He's not like crying, well, I think he's trying to
through the whole like I'm fine, I'll be okay, you know,
the opposite thing. Wish him all the best, but yeah,
collapse from the match the Mets. Just keep Rich Davis
and Jason Smith in your prayers. They're going through. It
might just be the Mark Harmon Show tonight.
