Speaker 1 (01:05):
Got to Go is coming up as well in this
next hour of the program. And uh Rob g one
of his scheduled days at five o'clock today, correct, right now?
Speaker 2 (01:18):
What's happening?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Is the NFL doing too much? How they milking this thing?
Mike Gosh, It's just my guess. I'll tell you what
you want to know.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Means we already know the NFL is king, and that's
kind of been established just on the TV ratings. The
fact that they can make an entire nation of people
care about a schedule when we already know who's playing who.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
At least twice A yeah, we know that three months
in advance. They they list out, Hey, these are your
gonna be your fifteen sixteen opponents, and we'll just figure
out when you play them.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Do we?
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Okay, this is the most pathetic thing. This is one
time I wonder are they over do they? Is it
not as big as they think?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Rob?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Like, did they think we really care? Is this the
one thing where actually actually people people just.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
It's a it's a random Wednesday night, right, and and
that's what it is. It's just nothing. There's nothing going on.
I mean, and they'll pay attention to it. It doesn't mean
they're gonna turn off the football game or if you're
a Phillies fan or whatever, you're not gonna watch the
Phillies game.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
For the schedule.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I already know what division the Eagles are playing, right,
so I do know that all right now, I could
finally three games left, right, there's like three other games
it's not like, oh my god, I can't believe they're
playing right the Jets this year.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
No, you know this is That's why I say.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
But you know what's even worse about well, worse than this,
because it's still gonna get Like for ESPN, NFL network combined,
probably like two million viewers of people just watching the schedule.
This is still light years more acceptable than seven hundred
and fifty thousand people in Green Bay standing outside to
watch a name being called from a kid that you've
never heard of.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Oh yeah, we got that left tackle Louisiana Tech baby
were back. He's any good? I don't know, but we
drafted him second round. But it's just you make something
out of nothing.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
From the standpoint of the live in Green Bay, there's
nothing going on while they're having this.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Well, how could I not go? It doesn't happen all
the time.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
So if you if you move it around right, So, oh,
Detroit got it for the first time, it was shoot
because they had never had Oh my god, is here
the one time it comes to Detroit, it might be
rob g if you rotate.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
It thirty years before it.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Comes back, So that that your incentive to make you
want to go out. If it happened every year, trust me,
they wouldn't be seven hundred fifty thousand people in Green
Bay if it happened.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
All the time.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
The NFL one thing they have mastered. They sell hope. Well,
but that's it because they sell hope, man every That's
why the ever scheduled. All right, we look we can
beat them. The cults aren't that good. And look the
Vikings are going to be as good because they lost Sam.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Like only seventeen games.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I worked in Detroit for twenty years and people tried
to tell me every year.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
It was there. Yes, I used to just sit the fans,
but I don't know. I don't know why I was.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
You know, I was there, and I don't know why
they would say that because I said, who who throwing
the ball?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
No, it was Matt Millan's the GM. Oh, Matt Millan
won four Super Bowls. He's a football guy. Finally Chuck
Schmid is out.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Then you got fired.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Then it was like then Marty morning Wig is a coach.
Oh yeah, good young, they got Steve Mariuci, flamed ross Ter,
Bobby Rass boss raw dude.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
I could go on and on.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
And on, but anyway, yeah, yeah, I know, Rob.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
That's why he wasn't at your sixtieth birthday. Part was man.
But anyways, the schedule is out now across the league.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Everybody's getting there.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
And then, as you guys know, we talked to plenty
of football players, both past and current. The first thing
that they used to they look at is number one,
once you buy and number two, how many primetime games
we got, because that's one thing they're very excited about.
Everybody wants to show up and show out on Monday night,
on Sunday night, so on and so forth. Well, the
Kansas City Chiefs, the New America's team, are now the
(05:09):
first team in NFL history to receive five primetime games
in their first eight weeks of the season. They got
the Chargers in Brazil. We talked about that, Giant Sunday Night,
Jags Monday Night, Lions Sunday Night, Commanders Monday Night. Oh yeah,
and they're also playing on Thanksgiving and Christmas. So basically
half of the Chiefs games this season will be in
(05:33):
some kind of primetime spotlighted game.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Rob Parker, your thoughts.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
The NFL needs to stop living in the past. The
Kansas City Chiefs are the worst watch in the NFL.
And you'll say, well, what about Tennessee? What about some
of the other teams like that? There there were no
(06:03):
where they are now compared to what we first started
watching the Chiefs, these games are unwatchable.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Patrick Mahomes, no vertical.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
We not throwing the ball downfield, dinking dunks, throwing interceptions
every game and for the Chiefs by three points.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Because the other team made a mistake on mister.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Field goal, That's how they win the game. It's not
a Protect Mahome seventy five yard bomb. It'd be different
if we didn't see that from the beginning. Do you
get my point on why did a worst watch? Literally,
I'd rather watch reruns of Gilligan's Island.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
But you really would, though I would, you actually would
enjoy that. It's the point I mean, I mean.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
The Chiefs their games are terrible nineteen to seventeen and
they used to buy blow people out forty to fifty points.
You were like, wow, that's why everybody hook line and senkahole.
Patrick Mahomes is going to be the goat. Really, have
you watched the last two years? The NFL's living in
(07:19):
the past. They think they still have Seinfeld ratings. No
they don't. This is not Seinfeld. This is Cringefeld. That's
what this is. Because you cringe when you watch the Chiefs.
(07:39):
You go, it's Patrick Mahomes. Really this bad. I thought
he was going to be the goat.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
He's not.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Andy Reid. You thought he was offensive genius. Those aren't plays.
That's a Denny's menu. That's why they can't score any runs,
any points.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
And I go, you know what mean, like, I cleared.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
My Monday night schedule to watch this garbage. My TV
stinks when I'm watching the Chiefs game. That's how bad
it is. Oh my, the NFL has blown a gasket
by delivering all these games to the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
They're not worth it. They're the chefs, not the Chiefs. Boy.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
That's why I'm glad I'm here, Elijah, to bring some sanity, Tod.
That's why it's called the Eye Couple, because somebody got
to be on the other side of this absurdness that
you're saying right now now. I do agree with you
that the Chiefs ain't chiefing like they used to. Okay,
the Chiefs ain't given it with like you mentioned, Pat
mahone forty five touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I'll give you that.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
However, you are generally rewarded in life. When you've been successful.
You are successful, people will give you some slack. So
the slack is being given. Hey, Kansas City Chiefs, you
weren't necessarily as exciting, but you have been very exciting
for us for all these years and one of the
most fun teams to watch for the first handful of
(09:04):
years of this. Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid run. Therefore, you
being rewarded. Also, Rob Parker, mister facts over feelings, let
me present some to you. Twenty five and a half
million viewers per game last year, making them the most
watched team in the league, and they have been right
(09:25):
there for the last handful of years. So people are
watching them because they either love them. He's exciting, maybe
they do want the old Patrick Mahomes, or they're hate
watching them. I agree, some people are hate watching them.
And you mentioned he might not be the goat, Well,
he is on his way to potentially be the goat.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
And you know what else the goat used to do.
Tom Brady. He was the king of the Deacon Dunks.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
All he threw was three yard slants to pick a
small receiver, Ammon Doola Wes Welker.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
That's all he did.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
So he did the same thing for years and was
rewarded successful championships, high ratings. People watch the Patriots, they
hate watching them. It didn't matter they watch. So I
also think the league knows rob they're gonna be on
a revenge tour. They're about to go zero dollar thirties.
They didn't have a sea Rice. He'll be backing healthy.
He was ball in the first few weeks before he
(10:16):
got injured. There we go Worthy Brown selling this whole thing.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
And have you watched behind you? Have you watched all
the interceptions?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Like have his receivers his best receiver was not there
because there was a.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Rest receivering through to the other team. Is that what happened?
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Throw?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I need some help.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
So he threw to the other team because not to
the guy who was running to play. Great players make
anybody who come in. That used to be Tom Brady's
claim to fame. They got a guy from Duncan donut to.
Now he's catching passes from Tom Brady, right, Okay, So
Patrick Mahomes, shouldn't that be the same case if he's
supposedly some goat he.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
And he absolutely tuned to the tune of fifteen and two,
Rob Boy. If I let you tell it, and I
just failed from Mars, I would think the Chiefs, we're
two and fifteen.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
The only take it to the only reason, the only
reason that the Chiefs get good ratings is exactly what
the NFL just did. They give them all the primetime slots.
So that's when people watch the games on the big nights.
If you give them what today opening night, right from
where they Brazil, that's the.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Start of football.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
You're not gonna get monster ratings the first night of
a real football.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Game after eight months. I don't GI's playing.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
If I put them on a Monday night at times
the Jags inc are they're not. That's the first night.
That first night is first night. I'm not gonna I'm
not gonna hurt first night. But if I put the
Jags on the Monday night Jags bears, that Monday night
is not gonna draw like if I.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Put Chiefs Eagles.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Okay, now, you you work on television. You got a
TV job during the day, so let me explain the
ratings to you and help you out. Even the New
York Football Giants average twenty one million viewers a game.
You know, why not because it was good football and
they wanted to see Danny Dimes and those other guys.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
It's because they had five primetime games. It's nothing.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
It's about the schedule where you are in the game
more so, tell me the Giants were not pathetic last
year that.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I was glad you said that. Rodney one million.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
They literally live in a city with twenty one thirty
million people.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
That's why they did numbers. It's eight million people and
then's a football team. Okay, that's the literal city. Everybody.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Don't do that round New York City, the metropolitan New
York area.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Boy, y'all, y'all New Yorkers, y'all like to separate?
Speaker 4 (12:35):
One minute? Is all we all together? Maybe in New
York City? Then it's no only this borough four million people?
Make up your mind? Is in New York City all
of y'all? Or is it just a borough one of
the five boroughs?
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Boy?
Speaker 4 (12:46):
I tell you eight million people in New York You know,
the metro areas like thirty million people, just like La
Los Angeles might have four million people in the city.
The Greater Los Angeles areas like twenty million people million.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I think LA has five because the eight New York
Philly has uh what is it?
Speaker 2 (13:03):
And then Chicago Chicago, Yeah?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
And then I mean in the city limity, ye, because
when you start looking up what people don't even understand
when you talk about eight million in New York, Boston
only has like six hundred thousand people in Boston propers yep,
six hundred thousand.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
That's what makes it crazy. Detroit only has four hundred
thousand in the city.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Do you know Detroit is the only metropolic big city
in America to ever go over a million people in
population and then and go under.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
What never happened? Right?
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Because you yeah, you you're thriving. You're just moving on up.
Doan't get the trade out?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
All right?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Three zero thirty. Remember the revenge Tour.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Do you have a problem with the Chiefs getting so
many primetimes games? Have they become Have they become the
least watchable team in the league?
Speaker 2 (13:52):
I believe they have. Will Levis was in the NFL
last year, Right, we'll continue that conversation next with you.
Speaker 1 (13:58):

(16:08):
team in the NFL. I said, Will Levis exists, right,
Did you see him last year? Did you see the
Jags last year? Rob eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox?
Speaker 1 (16:16):
So we got all right, Johnny in Minnesota, you're on
the odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
What's up, Johnny?
Speaker 6 (16:24):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Rob?
Speaker 2 (16:24):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (16:25):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Guys?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
What's up? Johnn a man, we ate.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
You can't hate on the guy that wins all the time.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
Man, that being and they get the time time, you know,
it don't make no sense.
Speaker 8 (16:37):
Put him in the bat.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
You're gonna put him.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
In the back. Cheat, Johnny, have you watched the games?
Speaker 6 (16:41):
Just I'm a timmer wass fan.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
I'm a Timmers fan. I hate the Kritinons City Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
All right, well, I'm miss telling you as somebody who
watches the games.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
They're brutal. Okay, oh it is.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
It is horrible.
Speaker 6 (16:50):
Man.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
I'm not disagreeing.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
With you, all right, but your reward winning is what
Johnny says.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Hey Johnny, And by the way, I thought we liked
close games, you know, messbille go here, a block punt there.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
I thought we liked close games.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Robs Allen in New Mexico, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (17:10):
Allan?
Speaker 8 (17:11):
Sure they pay marcall. I just want to say, you know,
you say that Mahomes isn't watchable. It's just because you know,
back in college when they first come out, everybody's throwing
the ball fifty sixty yards. You get older and then
he got a thinking done. You know, just just get
them wins. But you get them guys out of college
(17:34):
and first few games and they're turn it up, throwing
them seventy yard bombs and stuff. But after that, it's like, man,
we gotta slow down and we gotta just kick it
down and win some Super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Man added the TB twelve method. Uh yeah, did you
watch the games? The Raiders fumble the snaps? Who did
the Chargers hit the uprights? Chargers? Uh no, the Chiefs
hit the upright and then went in for them, and then.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Somebody else is up right against them and.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Then go in like that. Those are the way the
games were ending, the waiver.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Fortunes, the bull that what they say, Eliza, if I
was wrong, it sounded good.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
It felt good. Uh.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (18:19):
Dray?
Speaker 6 (18:21):
Hey, what's going on? Thanks for taking the call? You
You remind me of a gladiator there, Kelvin or what
what what we do? This life rings an eternity? You
know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (18:32):
Well you know what I mean? So, uh get me
going with a lot of Russell Crow's great lines in
that sumb but specific to this topic in terms of listen,
we gotta spread to well, okay, that was just because
my my fut off, the Eggos went ahead and molly
walked the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Now, now, what
do we have to do to be compensating giving them
all these games? No, no, we got to make sure
that everybody's getting an opportunity. The NFL, you know, has
(18:55):
frankly the most parody, you know, in terms of year
to year each team had. You know, just because you
win a Super or one year doesn't mean you're guaranteed
anything the next year. So they're I think all the
leagues would like to see that spreading of the well
so to speak. You know, teams how they organize the
schedule right, so the lower teams can con bolt themselves
up and pull themselves up get into contention, but.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Specifically the Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
Listen, Roger Goodell is no dummy, right. The NFL is
on its way to a twenty five billion dollar valuation
if they already haven't gotten there. So there is a
method to the madness. But even within that, you have
enough stars that everybody can get a taste. Okay, it's
not just Patrick Mahomes that you have to be dependent
on we want to see Joe Burrow. We want to
see Josh.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
What do your.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Players, right, dear plenty, how about jayde and Daniels? How
about do we want to see the playing? I want
to see more Jaydon Daniels. I don't want to see
Dinkin and Duncanny.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
You get right, Rogers, spread spread that world.
Speaker 6 (19:46):
Let everybody get a taste. Thanks taking a call.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Dre Sha.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Now you weren't saying that with Tom JOm Brady was
getting on them so on them games. He wasn't saying that,
Manzi Brett Ken in California.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Ken?
Speaker 8 (20:00):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (20:00):
That day off must have said, right, Rob, because you.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Can't go oh there you go, Ken.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
Because yes, the chiefs of boring when you can win
on a dunk mix chill going a misssnapped exit point
and fifty yards of passing, I know on Rob's rushing out.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
Bring out here like man, he bring out like.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
Cheecha boring.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
All right, there you have it. They are you got,
kim bag. This is an amazing week for you. I'm feeling
you going about forty eight hours before he switches to
the flip nah I think you got him now for
a little week.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
It's here for to stay. Ken. I appreciate that. Man.
You're back back where you belong, back with the Chief. Yeah.
I don't know what the chiefs the Chief h Donovan Mitchell.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
He said that the media is gonna be on the
calves heads thinking it was a disappointing and a failure
season for them.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Do we buy that? Will tell you after Manzi.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation, all of our shows at foxsports Radio dot
com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen
live Donovan Mitchell.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
They allegedly it was after they said he hadn't slept yet,
and this was like some hours ago. They said he
hadn't slept yet after getting eliminated to the Pacers. But
one of the things he talked about was, man, the
media is really gonna give it to us. Man, y'all
really gonna give it to us, and we don't have
to just come back bounce back next year. So the
conversation as they just spread a franchise record and wins,
(21:29):
was the season of failure for the number one seed
in the East.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
In the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Oh no, they they were missing three starters. They choked
down that one game, There's no doubt about it. They
choked that game down, There's no doubt. But they played
without three starters in the game. Donovan Mitchell was hurt
the last two games. I just they weren't at full strength.
If they were at full strength and they lost or whatever,
then you can look at the season. And I'm not
(21:56):
giving a pass, but it's hard when you don't have
your team. This is not the team that won sixty
one games or whatever it was because they had injuries
and Donovan is it's centered around go look at teams.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Where are the Warriors right now? Steph's heard? You can
see all you want. Steph didn't play.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Now, step played and they got molly wopped by the Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
And you can make a case Steph was heard.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
What team you take away the best player or multiple players,
are you gonna still win? You're fortunate, you're lucky if
that happens, and maybe you might be able to win
a game or so, but are you gonna really be
able to go without your horses and still win the race?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
For the most part, ninety nine percent, you're not.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
And that's why they can be disappointed. And I'm not
saying they shouldn't be disappointed and bummed out, But could
you really look at that and go, man, had the
full squad, Donovan did everything, you know, scored forty points
a game, and they lost. Now you want to look
and go, wow, something really went wrong here, That's not
(23:05):
what happened.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
So it's funny that last word you said, disappointing. I
literally wrote. You can see on my notes here I
wrote disappointing. What I mean is I know. That's why
I turned it back. I said, let me show you that.
I said, every mind disappointed for sure.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Failure.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
No, And I'm gonna tell you why. I think within
their locker room it's a failure. I think they believed
within their locker room, this is our season. I think
they won sixty four games, best record in franchise history.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
This is our year. We were good.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Last year, we got great, we got Coach of the
Year Donovan mc donovan. Mitchell's been showing everybody he's one
of those ones averaging forty gaight. I think they believe
this was their season. Here's why it's not a failure.
To me, Rob nobody.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Not a lot of people picked them coming out of
these most people, I think me, I believe you picked
the Celtics to come out of the East.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
That's who Celtics.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
I had them winning it all, you know, repeating or
at least and a lot of people hadn't winning it all,
at least getting there again. And so to me, this
was one of those where we kind of thought, yeah,
you guys are a good team and you're setting records
and you're fun to watch it all. But nah, it's
the Celtics to lose again or the current reigning chance.
Can they go back to back? Can at least get
to the finals again? So I just I don't think
(24:14):
it's a failure. I think if this ends up being
the end for the Celtics, that's a failure. To me,
I think the Celtics is a failed season if they
don't win. Whereas the Cavaliers, I just look at it
as it's a disappointing season. Maybe they should have made
it to the Eastern Conference finals at least minimum. Now
I will say that minimum. I thought they could at
least make it there. But failure, I don't know. I
(24:34):
just I guess I never bought into them. Fully for
me to call it a failure, although I'm sure it
was a failed season for them.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
I just think I understand they still could. They're all
a team and they think next man up, and I
should have been able to do more whatever, And I
get all that that's fair, but I don't think anybody's
coming down taking a look at what happened in that
series and taking a look and going, oh my god,
how world world did the Pacers when when when they
(25:02):
were they had manpower lost?
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Right?
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Man manpower games lost? Guys, Well, you didn't have your
full team state and your full team and your star
player Donovan was hurt. I'm not making excuses. I always
say sports has a short menu. But to say people
(25:29):
should come down on the calves and oh that they
choke and oh my god, if they were at full strength,
we could have a conversation. I think that's fair. And
we have to look at what's on the table and
and call it like we see it. And you just
said it. The expectations is that they were not the favorite.
Despite them, they.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Were, and that's the big thing for me. Again, I
look at the Celtics as this would be a more fair.
Obviously they're up a couple of points here, but if
they were to lose this series, this would be.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
A failed season.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
They absolutely expected to get back to the I want
you to get in it.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
You know, you see what's happened. It's it's whatever happens.
Even in two.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Thousand and four Pistons, rob G made it back to
the finals, everybody said it was a flu against.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
It was a fluke go. They won't even make the
playoffs next year. Got it right back there, Yeah, and
quarter away from winning that thing. Yeah, now it sound
like a Detroit homer did not right there, rob G.
I'm not gonna lie. I didn't know who I was
sitting next to. For two seconds. I was like, who
is this it here?
Speaker 1 (26:28):
I'm gonna say this, and I'm not. I'm gonna be
You love that team. I love covering that team. I
done love the team because it didn't matter to me
whether they won or lot. But did I enjoy watching
that team play and the characters and the atmosphere at
the Palace. It was as good as against.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Rob G.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
You watch it on television, you know you were sick
to death when the Lakers lost to that Pistons team
be honest, sick to death, right Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
And also because they didn't play a fun brand of basketball, right,
it made it even worse. And there's a reason why
they got one of the lowest NBA finals, right whatever
the next few.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Years was sixty eight. It was because the Lakers were bad.
Speaker 7 (27:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
They had a game where Shaq and Kobe both only
had eleven points.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
That's crazy. I mean, karmelone was hurt. No, no, no, no,
I said Kobe and Shaq.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
I'm not taking anything away from it, just it was
not a fun series to watch.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Yeah, because they because Shaq and Kobe. Blame them. Don't
blame the Pistols. Kobe, it was a five games. You
blame Kobe. It was a five Even.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Kobe will tell you that, you know, he shot them
out of that series that he took on the challenge
of Hey, I'm gonna go up on Jean Prince and
if they send the double with John zon billis no problem.
She's like thirty five percent for the series.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
They had no shot. Honestly, and I mean this unbiasedly.
I know it sounds graaz.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
It's impossible coming from I know Robers.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
They had no shot, and I don't I mean, I
mean that sincerely.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I don't think if they feature shocked that that they
it wasn't that.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
He was never the same ever again, even when he
went to Miami one, he was still.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Getting like twenty two and twelve in that series, but.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Just the same dude, like forty and twenty.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Kobe shot him out of that series.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
But they had no crazy thing is shak got a
shot block? Was it by remember he was just it
was he got a shot.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
They were a good team. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Like you could argue that's starting five is one of
the top. You know, I don't know a handful of
starting fives because for the team's sake, everyone shrunk a
little bit. But Rashid was one of the best players
I remember watching inside BB Chauncey Bilis was the Hall
of Famer now, but the finals if he was an
(28:37):
All Star ripped one of the best shooting guards in
the league. Tayshawn was the perfect for his role, you
know what I mean, like the kind of the Draymond role,
if you will, and one of the biggest blocks. And
Ben Wallace was absurd at what he did and undrafted Yeah,
that man. He was one of the best undrafted players ever.
So I mean that just was a tough matchup for
the Lakers, is what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
Because Shack averaged twenty six and eleven on sixty three
percent shut is that what he did. That's because Kobe
took thirty more shots than him in the series. I
just remember the I see because you're Pistons fantas.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Oh no, no, I'm saying, but I remember the struggle
of their Look at the final scores of that. It
was a terrible to one. I got past eighty I
think once by, like I mean in the eighties. So
here's where the final scores in that.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
This tells you where we were in two thousand and four.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
Yes, eighty seven to seventy five, Game ninety nine ninety
which had to go to overtime.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
To get to that Kobe hit that shod Game No.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Eighty eight to sixty eight.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
These Lakers scored sixty eight point you mad at the Pistons.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Eighty eighty eight to eighty in eighty eight sixty.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
I remember that because I was able to write my
column during the first.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Half eighty eight to eighty and then this was a
big barn Burner in Game five one hundred to eighty seven.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
That I was a man. They jacket Kobe Lakers to.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Eighty Shack in Game four, which they lost thirty six
and twenty your team on was caored eighty points.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
He had thirty six of the eighties.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Because I vividly remember what they did was, all right, Ben,
we're not helping you, and if he if he's destroyed you,
we're not letting anyone else. And I remember watching that
series going, if I spot you sixty Kobe and Shaq
thirty thirty.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
No one else was scoring.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Derek Fisher literally might as well been fishing, and like
no one else did anything. And that was the Pistons match.
All right, Shack, we got Ben Wallace, one of the
best defenders ever. He's gonna go night in night out.
You might get him. One night, he might get you.
Because that's say that last game. Would look at Ben
had like twenty four and twenty two or something.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Twenty two rebounds in game five.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Yeah. Yeah, So they just were like, we're gonna go
with that, and no one else is doing anything. And
that was their whole game plan, was just to go
at because they had the capacity to go at shack
one on one and nobody else was able to do that.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Yeah, I think I think I remember seeing a documentary
about it was about the Lakers, of course, thought about
the Pistons. Yeah, because the Pistons historically have always disrespected
when it comes to these historical conversations. And they were saying, yeah,
the player and was play Shaq one on one because
you can't stop shaking, and we are gonna swarm Kobe
(31:07):
entire game and hope that his ego, you know, leads
damn shooting them out of it. And that's exactly what happened.
And they made the light the most gentleman sweep in history, right,
like we had we had to hit a Kobe to
tie it to go to overtime.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
And you know what, I remember that people were mad
because they wanted them to show.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Yeah, Larry, that was like a new then that was
Larry fell asleep, Like I think it was pride. No,
but but you the only guy could have hurt them
with Kobe, and you let Kobe get I think it
was probably remember Larry was like, we're gonna make him
take a tough shot.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
They got a big, massive miss. Okay, foul shack and
they would have won that game.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Even if he makes two. You're up one watching that
live Like, no, don't let Kobe. I was like you
and I'll never forget Ja Donde from the l a time.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
When they won game two, you know, just talking sports
writer to talk at dinner. So Jay's like, after they
won game too, well, series is over now, like like,
so then the Pistons won the next game. Jay goes, well,
you know, all right, now the Lakers will win the
next three.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Okay, they won the next game.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
It yeah, they're back now the game they're back, I said, Jay.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Really and then when they when they wanted us all,
I said, Jay, or is there an eight game?
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Is there another game? Like like he really?
Speaker 1 (32:34):
He got Meeople like, oh the series because the Pencons
won the first game, everybody just kind of discounted it
all they won gamesh the series is over now, we're
not even coming back from Detroit.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
I was like, okay, really, okay, oh what a time.
All right, we're not coming there. That was it? Well
the time, my bad Robbie. Let us have a moment here,
all right, one's gotta go.
Speaker 4 (32:53):

Here's the five of crowds? Is that when I'm blaming
there even number? Figure it out, all right? Hear me out?
Speaker 4 (34:12):
Earlier today the NFL a little bit not too long ago,
releasing the schedule, and Rob g was giving us some
of these international cities and countries that will have games.
So I said to myselfself, one's got to go travel. Addition,
gentlemen and monty, all right, so one of the countries
will be Brazil, keep that in mind.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Dublin, Ireland, London.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
That's two for two, three for three that you've been to,
all right, Berlin, Germany that's one one for me and
one for me, and Madrid two for me.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
So four I've been, you've been to four, the four,
the five.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
So the question is what city and or country here
would you not want to go to? If I said, hey,
all expense pay trip, don't worry about it.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
You get to go have a good time. One gotta go.
What city has to go or.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Country has to go that you say, now, I'll pass
on that one who wants to set it off?
Speaker 2 (35:08):
You Montage? All right? All right? Give them to me.
One more time, I got you Brazil, Brazil.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
I'll just Dublin, Ireland, London, Berlin and Madrid.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
So I think, I.
Speaker 9 (35:18):
Don't know if it's easy, but I'm gonna say Brazil
because I cannot speak Portuguese and the other places I
think I can get around and I make I think
that makes traveling easy. German, No, but I've been to German.
They speak English. I've been to Germany and they do.
Even though the food is not my favor there because
food it's a lot of but they.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Got good beer.
Speaker 9 (35:39):
So because I think it's the language. Because Portuguese does
not sound at all like Spanish.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
So I have no idea. A lot of people assume
that that it is. It's so confusing. It is not
like Spanish.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Italian is easier.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
So we got we got one for Brazil, U g Alex.
I'm gonna go with Berlin. I don't like broad worst.
I mean beers okay, but I can get that here and.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Not How dare you disrespect?
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Historically Germany is not real high on the list of places,
and I'm like good cars. I mean, unless you're Kanye,
it's probably not the spot.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
And Rob G.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Yeah, Kanye that said we're gonna move on from that,
all right. So we got one for Germany, we got
one for Brazil. Where are you, Alex?
Speaker 2 (36:23):
This is easy? This is easy. Goodbye London? Oh, good
love London. I left there? Didn't we leave there? You did?
We didn't? I was. I wasn't either. I'm from Macedonia.
Didn't we leave them? Yeah? The what am I going
back for? For?
Speaker 3 (36:40):
What?
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Beans and toast? Yeah? The food is not great? What
of the else that got over there? That's about it?
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Royalty?
Speaker 4 (36:45):
Well, that's don't get Alex. Why would you do that? Manzie,
don't get Alex doyalty? Rob Parker Giant Clock?
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Are you at Giant Clock? All right? It's always easy, Rob.
Which one is it? Say? Rob? Is it just the
one you had run into? Dublin?
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Really?
Speaker 8 (37:00):
Ah?
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Gosh, I've been racist? What I don't want to go
to Dublin. That's got to be racist. You've been to Dublin.
I've been there.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Hold on before you tell me, tell me about it.
The answer for me is Dublin as well. What am
I missing?
Speaker 6 (37:19):
Why?
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Because the black guys don't want to go exactly.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
That's why it's racing both of y'all. What is how
many black irishmen have you seen in your life?
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Are we calling the Celtics haven't seen sinners?
Speaker 4 (37:34):
That's a great point because I know the theme of it.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
That's both of those groups are in this movie. Both
have suffered a lot of stuff. So you guys are
more related to people in Dublin than you know. How
dare you rob something?
Speaker 4 (37:48):
Because look, Brazil, there are reasons why you want to
go to Brazil.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Why did I say that?
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Because you know what, there are a lot of women
there who are wearing the one you know, and they
should not be wearing a strong because it's actually it's
actually cottage cheese strong.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Okay, six years, they're going anywhere
