Rob and Kelvin tell us why Joe Burrow’s extensive injury history isn’t enough to get the Cincinnati Bengals to start looking for a new quarterback, and debate whether it’s fair to say Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford has entered the GOAT conversation for boxers. Plus, former Pro Bowl wide receiver and ‘Up on Game’ co-host TJ Houshmandzadeh swings by to discuss Burrow’s poor injury luck, the 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs, Lamar Jackson’s incredible play so far this season, and much more!

Pro football Pro Bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Wide receiver and a co host of Up on Game
on Fox Sports Radio. So that and much more coming
up in this hour number two one, a Magic City
Monday rob Ge.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Bad news in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Joe Burrow is not going to be lost for the season,
but three months busy not I mean, I'm saying three months.
It's not the season is for plus months. But my god,
he's hurt again.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Well, unfortunately, the three month timeline is actually conservative. There
are people saying that this is more than likely gonna
end his season no matter how it goes with the recovery.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
But you mentioned it.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Joe Burrow undergo toe surgery after suffering what is being
called third degree turf toe. Now, turf tow doesn't sound
that bad, but anybody who's actually had turf toe said
they need to change an ad to the death foot
because it is one of the worst injuries you.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Can get as an athlete.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
And unfortunately, as you guys touched on earlier in the show,
This is just the latest and a long line of
Joe Burrow injuries going back to college. Here's a quick
run now for you guys.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
We don't have all day.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
What do you think this is the real quick broken
bone it is throwing at Ohio State in twenty seventeen,
torn rib cartilage at LSU in twenty twenty, torn aclmcl
ammniscus with the Bengals in twenty twenty, dislocated pinky in
twenty twenty one, rupture dependix twenty twenty two, calf straining
twenty twenty three, torn wristligamit twenty twenty three, and now
turf till twenty twenty five. It's not looking good for

(03:03):
Burrow and the Bengals.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I'll tell you this, injuries in all, I'm with Joe Burrow.
I'm taking Joe Burrow any time of the day. It's
like the Kawhi Leonard, like there's players I'm willing to
deal with the.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Injuries and all that. And Joe Burrow showed himself really quickly.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
First year he got hurt, only played like what he
played Rob g six or eight games right year one,
and then the next year came back and took them
to the Super Bowl. The Bengals have been trying to
go to the Super Bowl since Moby Dick was a Guppy.
They had lost like seven straight playoff games, could never
take that next step. He gets their shows up and
they're in the Super Bowl. They beat Patrick Mahomes and

(03:45):
the Chiefs. Guess where in Kansas City. He actually won
two and almost won the third game. Remember they were
calling it. Burrough had right because he owned the Chiefs
down there was incredible.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
He's that kind of player.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So I mean, it's easy for people say, oh, I
don't know, he should have taken him.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
He's always banged up, always heard.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I get it. There are some players, though, who are
worth it. He's worth the juice. Kawhi's worth the jewe
same thing I said. He's with Kawhi. All he gotta
do is win one. If he could get the Clippers
there just one time, Joe Burrow one time. Nobody's expecting
the Bengals to be some dynasty or win for Super Bowl,
none of that. You'll gladly take it, just like the

(04:31):
Texas Rangers won that World Series.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
They're good for the next ten fifteen years. One.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
There are plenty of teams that haven't won, that would
die to be in their position, is what I'm trying
to tell you. But these are uniquely talented players and
for whatever reason, they can't stay healthy. It's mind boggling
because he really is. He's really a fantastic difference maker
as a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Listen, he had one of the best college years I've
ever seen.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Me and Rob g were talking about that.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
You were on vacation, and I would that's one of
the best college seasons if you said from a quarterback,
that was the I get you. Cam Newton sitting right
there as well, could potentially have one. Some incredible football
was played by Joe Burrow into your credit. He has
been great when he's been healthy. The concern, obviously is
his health going back to college. He's always got something
nicked up. Bang up, Uh. But the difference between he

(05:26):
and Uh and Kawhi is just the length of the
season too. Kawhi, I need you to stay healthy all
through the season and or the postseason. It's a longer season,
it's a longer ago. That's why I would be more
apprehensive with him, and it seems to be more chronic
with Kawhiah.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Is the difference between. It ain't no denying.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
That's why the the story of describing Kawhi is gonna
be so hard because people might go, well, I'm looking
at his career.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I mean, you know he's good, and it's gonna be Man,
what's gonna be hard about it?

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Because if you're listen, answer, I'm RELI if Kawhi was healthy,
Let's say nobody's perfectly healthy. He let's say he was
healthy seventy five eighty five percent in his career, well
you would be like, oh, he might be a top
ten twelve player of all time.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
He's that good when he's healthy.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
But because he wasn't and because he will miss out
and you kind of then you don't know what to
rank him where he kind of had to be there
to see him. Kyrie Eving another guy you're like, ah,
you kind of had to be there to see to
know because if I just look at their his career,
you'll be like, oh, it was good.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
But so that's what I mean healthy. The reason why
I don't think so. I think he's like a hall
of fame.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
He's won two championships, one finals, MVPs.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Like his accolades are already there and it's just a
it's it's incredible what he's been able to accomplish with
so much miss time. And I think he could have
been an all time saying he's a great, but he's great, you.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
Know, that's all I'm saying. This makes it weird because
I'm like, somebody could say, how was Daddy? How was Kawhi?
And he could be like, he was one of the
my lifetime top five six seven players I've ever seen,
And if you saw it and you kind of get it,
you'd be like, yeah, I can't lie. But bringing it
back to Joe Burrow a couple of things. The tough
part for the Bengals is all of their existence is

(07:06):
riding with Joe Burrow. And that's okay. They put it
all on him. They gave him the big bag, which
you're supposed to a quarterback that talent. I'm not even
mad at it. Then they put it all on the
guys he needed. They said, you want Jamar Chase played
college ball? Would the Mets guy bring him? Te Higgins?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
You know what you are.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
We really don't want to pay him, we've been stringing
him along, but you know what, we'll pay him We
got the offense set up for you. Here we go.
Be happy. Let's go on this run. We paid the
guys you wanted, even Trey Hendrickson for another year.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Let's go.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
So they have it all riding on him. That's what
makes this team a little difficult because they don't have
a team.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
You mentioned J. J. McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
All right, well he's out right now, but they have
a defense that can hold it down. We kind of
have a system offen so we can play around till
he comes back. The Bengals are built for that offense
to be great. That's it. Also, it makes some interesting
how many times can somebody win Comeback Player of the Year.
He's been Comeback Player of the Year twice. Guess what
he's about to be next year, Robs both the He's

(08:00):
gonna be Comeback Player of the Year.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
That's how great he is three times. Tell it tells
you about when he's.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
The award after him, Rob the Joe Burrow Comeback Player
of the Year award, even though Joe Burrow is still playing,
because the Mans have three of them for the age
of thirty.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
When he's healthy, he's as good as anybody. Last year,
he and in most years, he would have had a.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Chance to win the m v P ninety year. That's
an MP last had two guys who were just even
better than him.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
My last point is the only concern I have is
did we witness a damn Marino super talented got there
year two just like Dan if I'm not mistaken year two,
but he only played.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Edible game his first year. That was incredible. But I'm
saying we got there.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
We all know the talent incredible and you go, man,
Joe Burrow, he'll get back.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
But between injuries and that dad on conference.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
He's in where he's got a battle with Lamar, who
we both feel like is gonna get there at least once,
maybe a couple of times. Josh probably feels like he's
gonna get there once at least a couple of Patrick mahomes.
If you ask him, he's gonna get back, he's done
justin Herbert. If you ask him, he's gonna get My
point is yea, But I think they're in a tough,
tough conference where it ain't a given.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
But the only difference is he's the only one out
of those people you mentioned who have been to the
Super Bowl, not Patrick.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
I'm that what I'm saying that meaning he got there
and it's and he may never get back between health
in that conference.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
That ain't crazy, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
I'm not convinced of that because i just don't know
how many years he plays. You know, you go through stretches.
He might have his team he might have built for that. Yeah,
but he might. But even when they went, they weren't
Bill forty either. He was that good and was able
to That was a fall Cincinnati had. They had a
better running team. They had a better running game then Yeah,

(09:41):
but they can build Joe and they also had a
better defense. They weren't towards the bottom two or three
and all the stats. Yeah, that doesn't mean they're gonna
be at the bottom of his whole career. I'm just
saying that I'm not there yet. I gotta like see
more of that. It would be different. The difference between
him and Dan Marino is that damn was playing and

(10:04):
they weren't winning like this. When he plays, they're really good.
We talked about it. Sure, they need to get better
on the defense. They have an offense.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
We know that.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
We know we've seen the numbers that they can put
up if they can fix that defense, keep him up right,
keep him healthy. I give him a shot. Not that
he has gonna win again, not four or five three. No,
could he squeeze in there one year that Lamar's banged
up or heard one year that you know what I mean,
Like some of these other situations, you just don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
But he's good enough to me that he could get
another trip to the super Bowl. I would be surprised
if he doesn't get there. I get it. I think
he's I think he's a leading I think he's a leader.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
That's where we flop. I would be more surprised if
he got back. I expect Patrick Mahoons to get back.
I expect Lamar, I don't. I don't expect spect Josh
Allen at one point. I expect all of those three
guys to get there in the next decade. I don't
expect they're still young. Lamar is what twenty seven credible.
Mark Jackson's Statson career is incredible. Josh Allen Stat's career credile.
These guys don't.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
I don't have Josh going and I don't have Mahomes
going again.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
But you got Joe going again. YEP. At some point
care not this year.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
I'm talking about I flap because then Justin Herbert is
gonna have something to say, and Justin I gotta say,
bow Nicks, I'm not in that shroud at some point,
myj I'm not in that camp. Everybody thought they were
going to Super Bowls second year, So that's yeah. I
just I would be more shocked to Joe Burrow would
to make it back. That would be like, oh, he
made it back, because that conference with those quarterbacks they

(11:33):
have in the words of the dude who stole he's
one of his daughter.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
He he's one of them. He to me, he's one
of the top ones in that just the talent, without
a division, without a doubt. That ain't a question.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Are you willing to overlook Joe Burrow's injury history.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Or do you think?

Speaker 6 (11:49):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (11:50):
And do you think he'll.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Be able to break through and get back to the
super Bowl at some point with the Bengals, because that's
really Kelvin says no. I say yes, I think he's
that kind of a player. They give him any kind
of decent defense. We've seen him even against the Ravens
last year, two games, nine touchdowns against.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
The raven nine wasted games of all time.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
I mean, but he had nine touchdowns against that Ravens defense.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
That's how good he is.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
But he wasn't able to get there eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. We'll continue that conversation next with you.
We'll try to get in as many people as possible,
so if you want to chime in, please do so.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
That's what that's all. Kelvin is always like that. He
thinks it's like only two What do you mean that's
the same people. I'm just saying that there's just too
many comments on there for me to just take.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
That and let me just say this our YouTube channel,
which Alex was calling it the odd Mob, which is
kind of cool, like that one good call. It's really
devolved into a Reddit page because now it is just
guys arguing back and forth about something totally unrelated.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
To what we're talking because somebody will bring up something
we said.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Somebody Rob mentioned a Tom Brady reference with Henry McKenna
about an hour ago, and these guys have been going
at it ever since then.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
But they were talking about.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
What you should have cheated better, they should have never cheated.
Yeah that all right, guys, Odd Mob, don't be like that,
all right?

Speaker 2 (15:46):
All right?

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Uh oh see in Inglewood, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio Orange County or Inglewood where you.

Speaker 7 (15:52):
At first time call a long time listener.

Speaker 8 (15:57):
It's a great show.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Thank you, buddy, hey man, that's very nice. We appreciate that.
On a Magic City Monday, I love the program.

Speaker 8 (16:06):
I need to call him the trash Talk of Tuesday.
But to ask you a question, I'm gonna say no.
I like Joe Burrow, but I really just can't stand
players that's always injured, like ad Bo Jackson, Joel if Be,
because I would hate to be a fan of the
Clippers and always go to a game and a player
is just constantly out because he hurts.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
So I don't know how.

Speaker 8 (16:29):
They're just unreliable.

Speaker 7 (16:30):
I get it, Basketball, football.

Speaker 8 (16:32):
Are tough sports.

Speaker 7 (16:33):
But come on, man, I mean, dang man.

Speaker 8 (16:36):
You know, I don't really know what to say.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Oh sa man, bo Jackson sitting at home doing some archery,
catching catching straight.

Speaker 8 (16:43):
The man never played a whole season and stay hurt
when when the time he needs the most. I don't
know how am I supposed to, you know, support somebody that.

Speaker 7 (16:51):
I mean, we could.

Speaker 8 (16:52):
I know everybody then there is different, but they injured
all the time.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
You know what I'm saying, No doubt. I appreciate it.
Bo Jackson, Yeah, I said, don't the time. He's reliable.
It was on Techno bot Hey nobody. All right, phill
up in Oklahoma. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Phillip?

Speaker 2 (17:10):
How are you good? Doing? Great? Man doing great? Brother?
Thank you so much, appreciate you.

Speaker 8 (17:20):
I was just curious, Rob, why you think I don't
know if the change from my homes can't get back,
I don't agree with that.

Speaker 7 (17:27):
I was just curious that your take on it.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I just have seen his play diminished the team Kelsey
was a big part of that, and not be the same.
I mean, there's just a lot of things you start
to look at and they're not going to keep adding
to it. People who won no Super Bowls and all
that start to disappear and start not to play so change.
I mean, I don't They're not going to do anything

(17:51):
with Andy Weed. He might eat hisself out of the league,
but I don't make it go. I'm just saying, I mean,
isn't that a Denny's menu he's holding on the side.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Like that. I'm just saying, that's say that. Man, his
victory meal already ready.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
I'm sorry, Philip, I'm sorry about that, all right, all right, man.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
I'm just curious.

Speaker 8 (18:11):
Yeah, I don't think they're.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Philip, phil don't worry about it. We know they're not done,
Philip noware Yes, Okay, It's like I told them the
lines though. We'll talk about that next. We'll talk about that.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports, right,
That's the only Mulligan they're gonna gets theirs.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Good, Andre what's up buddy?

Speaker 6 (18:30):
Hey, Hey doing happy Monday. Thanks for taking the car.
I don't see Joe Burrow breaking through again and making
it to a super Bowl. It's just, uh, two factors
that I can't see him overcoming. First of all, the
institutional dysfunction with the Cincinnati Bengals. What last team in
the NFL to have an indoor practice facility, it's been
this way.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Well, they got to the spot. But Drey, here's the
issue I have.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
He actually went to a Super Bowl coming off an
injury where he got hurt. His rookie only place six games, right,
So he came off an injury, got healthy and went
to a super Bowl. And yes, the Bengals, right, they're cheap.
I get it, the Brown the Brown family or whatever.
I get all that. But this is what I'm saying
is he was able to overcome before they started winning

(19:17):
and get there, Dre, they were like they had lost
seven straight playoff games. He's a difference maker. You just
gotta get that guy healthy. And that's what I'm saying.
If you get him healthy, you do have a chance.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
You do well. I appreciate the car. Go ahead, go ahead, Drey.

Speaker 6 (19:34):
No to your point, Ron even with a healthy Joe Burrow.
Everybody knows they have uh, they have a papers in defense,
so he's gonna have to Yeah, but it's.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Not gonna be forever.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Come on, Dre, what do you think They're not gonna
make some changes or add some players. They might draft
a player who turns it in to be a difference maker.
It's not gonna be the same defense the entire time.
Even the Lions went to the playoffs and won a
playoff game officially, finally after fifty years or whatever it was.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
I think that windows closed.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Man.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
That conference is too much quarterbacks appreciated Drake. I think
it's just he's great, no doubt he's great.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
As long as I'm saying that conference, that's great quarterback,
he's great.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
He's in that mix talent, not that team though. TJ.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
Whos was out on the way. We can ask him
about it. He knows a little something about the Bengals.
He was a former Pro Bowl receiver when he was there,
also coached up on game. We'll get there at the minute.
Right now, Steven Seger is gonna tell us what's trending, Hasty.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Be sure to catch live editions of the odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
All right, Steve, thank you.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
It is the odd cover Rock Parker Kelvin Washington on
The Magic City Monday.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
The WNBA got playoffs going on.

Speaker 5 (20:46):
Why don't you know, Rob, because you would. I never
missed a WNBA playoffs. They were going ahead it. Breonna
Stewart was bawling. Yeah, Alex, don't play that. I don't don't.
I'm not missing a good accent over the weekend. Yeah,
the Liberty was getting busy all right. Last we mentally
had nothing to do. The girls wanted you to see it.

(21:06):
I mean, come on, your daughters didn't even want to say.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
I bet you know I love who I peaked in.
You didn't peak in.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
VISal Collier was balling. I just told you the Liberty
was a good one, all right. TJ who's Isa a
former Pro Bowl robe receiver, co host A why would
you do this?

Speaker 2 (21:20):
You know?

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Jeez was in Detroit last week and I missed it.
Co hosts of Up on Game on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
We got a themes that got music now, all right,
who's eighty four X? Who's I love it? What's up? Man?

Speaker 7 (21:32):
To what's going on on Sallas?

Speaker 5 (21:34):
We're going, good Man? Where you want to start? Roberts
so much? We could we could jump into Chiefs. I
got the Chiefs. I'm not surprised TJ. I've been on
this bandwagon for.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
The last couple of years, just the way that they played,
how lucky they've been.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Even last year, a lot of games went their way.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Now all of a sudden, they're owing to in games
that they usually win, uh, you know, one score games
and now owing to what's your four asked for the Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
They've been lucky the last two years. You know what
they say we lucky is when preparation is J. Can
you stop kicker?

Speaker 1 (22:13):
The Raiders mishandled a snap that ain't preparation. The kicker
for the Chargers missed the easy field goal that ain't preparation.

Speaker 7 (22:22):
Luck. Luck favors Luck favors the guys that are prepared.
Now listen, I picked the Chargers to win the division
this year.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
The Chiefs not making the playoffs, That's where I'm at.

Speaker 7 (22:33):
I don't know if I would go that far, but
they've been on a downward spiral offensively for the last
couple of years, and the defense has just picked them up.
And now that the defense cannot pick them up as
much as they need, it's even worse. Like they can't
they can't move the ball effectively. People are playing the

(22:54):
Chiefs like the way they play the Chiefs defensively, you
wouldn't think they were not what pack Mahomes was a quarterback,
but they wanted division nine years in a row. John Harball,
John Jim Harball is a great coach in his second year?
What are you to do with the Niners? So right
now I have the Chargers and the Green Bay Packers

(23:16):
going to the Super Bowl. I said this before the
season started. Let's see if that holds truth.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
Okay, yeah, I'm on. I believe they can still make it.
Ten and seven. Got the Bucks and also got the
Broncos in there. I think the Chiefs can do that.
I just think that once they get their receivers back,
as you know.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Maybelline in a row, and it'll be great for NFL America.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
In Rowe.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
All right, let's go to a team. You know you're
familiar with the Bengals. We were just talking about them
before we got on with you. The bad news with
Joe Burrow could be out minimum three months, could be longer.
At some point, you wonder if they'll just pull the
plug on the whole season between his health, the defense
being just called the defense because it ain't no d
What do you make of this Bengals team right now?
And is the next year next year? Because all the

(23:58):
money is on the offensive side. I worry that this
could be a situation where Joe Burrow got to the
super Bowl early and may never get to And I'll
tell you why, because of a team like the charge
you picked, you picked justin Herbert. You still got my homes,
you got Lamar Jackson, you got Josh Allen, you got CJ.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Shroud. That conference is crazy with quarterbacks.

Speaker 7 (24:16):
It's disappointing, man like it's our root for the Bengals.
And to start the season two and oh when the
last few years we can't even get the first two
weeks of the season, we don't even know how to win.
Feels like right so to be to ande ooh, and
offense didn't play well Week one, Defense held us down.

(24:39):
Defense couldn't really get a stop against the jag If
Trevor Lawrence Hunn and throw the ball to us at
the end zone and Domie Brown drops a touchdown that's
right in his hands. It's a different story, but Trey
Hendrickson made a play when it mattered at the end
of the game to sell that for us. But having
Joe pretty much he's out for the season. Man, it's

(25:02):
a heartbreaker. This is Joe burrow sixth season, and this
is the third season he's pretty much gonna miss the
entirety of the season, more than half of the games.
Tear your knee, he had a risk injury and now this,
and so it's really nothing you can do. Joe's one
of the best quarterbacks in the league, but at some
point you gotta wonder can he stay healthy consistently, consistently

(25:27):
enough to lead us where we need.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
To go, no doubt. I want to ask you about
Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Rex Ryan said on ESPN that he was finished, he
couldn't play anymore. He only had like four hundred and
fifty years. He still throws the deep ball. What did
you make of Russ? Russ's performance and despite all that,
the Giants still couldn't win the game. I mean, just
just a bad that's a bad loss to me, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 7 (25:50):
Yeah, and.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
He's scored a touchdown right for them, TJ, with twenty
five seconds ago.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
You got to win that game, don't you.

Speaker 7 (25:59):
Russell Wilson played a fantastic football game. He made a
bone head decision at the hand pointy to that pick,
but I felt like he was just throwing the ball
down the field and he was like, Hey, one of
these guys gonna make a play. For all the people
that say receivers don't matter the boy, they better go
watch that game and look at what Elak Neighbors was
doing and the type of plays with naked. But the

(26:19):
play that really bothered me was after they take the
lead in the fourth quarter and they played a soft
Tampa two defense and they let Dak completed to the
tight end and that put him in field goal range.
Because of Brandon Aubrey. Anything within sixty is a field
goal range.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
But I don't know, TJ. You got to help me out.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
This happens every week with no time like it happens
like ten seconds, fifteen twenty. It doesn't matter what it is.
You know what team allowed teams to get a field
goal range.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
That reminded me of when the Buffalo Bills that would
Tyreek Hill against to Kansas City Heat. See without Tyreek Hill,
they don't play that way. And so but that's what
that reminded me of. It's like, you guys game plan
and Dave was an old school coach man, them jihants
coaches and they in office today. They getting out of the

(27:14):
office at one am. Y'all game planning all damn day.
Y'all in the office till eleven twelve, one o'clock in
the morning. And this is what y'all doing the game
and thank you what you like? What is going on?

Speaker 1 (27:26):
All that is is you know what like a badge
of honor? Oh he slept in the coaches room. We
did get.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
No, but that's what they brag.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
No, that's what they brag about, is about how many
hours we get. Two hours, I'm sleeping in my office
and all that.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
And you still turning that stuff right?

Speaker 7 (27:44):
Good, hey, good hey. Getting an argument with your wife
and she brings out up, you're sleeping in neither calls
you're making exactly.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
That's what I would say as well. TJ. Whos was
out of our guest former Pro Bowl wide receiver.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
Of course, co Hose up on game on Fox Sports
Radio as well. I want to go to this one.
He and I talk a little further about it as well.
But the Lions bounce back in the critical You know,
you don't want to start a season one two, especially
losing two in the division. They don't they win. They
put up a fifty piece what'd you make of that performance?

Speaker 7 (28:15):
Man? The Lions. They was ready for Ben Johnson to
come on on back to Detroit. They were ready for that.
It's just really crazy that Caleb Williams like at the
start of the game first two games, he lked out,
like Ben Johnson and him can really script some plays
to start a game, and then they just completely crumble.

(28:35):
I don't the Detroit Lions to me needed that, because
after week one I was like, whoa they really meant?
Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn like what are they going
to do? And they answered the bell. Now I don't
know what. Like Defensively last year, the Chicago Bears were
pretty good on defense last year. They're atrocious defensively this

(28:58):
year thus far. Fifty one point, that's what I get.
And the Detroit Lions team that struggled mightily in Week
one and Dennis Allen's defense gives up fifty one points.
You're a man, the man defensive coordinator. When Jalen Johnson
is hurt, he's not playing, you can't play your scheme.
You gotta do what your players do best, not with

(29:19):
what you want to do. And so I thought the
Lions played well. Way to show up. I'm and raw
did this thing, Jamison Williams. Way before the draft, they
asked me to name a sleeper receiver. I said, I'm
not gonna name somebody I train. I'm gonna name Isaac
kes Law. And he out there ball and making one hand.

(29:40):
Nobody had never heard of him, and I shoted he
own and look at him now.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Yeah, but those catchers are with those sticky glaves.

Speaker 7 (29:46):
Heyjjay, how many guys are wearing them?

Speaker 2 (29:49):
GLO, I don't care. I don't care. TJ came.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Those are all fraudulent catches, you hear me. I don't
count any of them, DJ zero. They don't do anything
for me. They don't even obj.

Speaker 7 (30:03):
I know everybody's everybody's wearing them. Everybody ain't making weight.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Case there's sticky gloves. It's like eating sticky wings. In
Times Square.

Speaker 5 (30:13):
I keep telling them everybody doing it, everybody spectacular is
not gonna let J.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
You know that you play football, they didn't let you
use sticky gloves. Sticks know he didn't and TJ, you remember,
go look at the Sports Illustrated. They went out and
played with with high school kids and they had them
try to catch the football with no gloves. They gave
them no sticky gloves, and those high school kids caught
every single ball that went their way.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
TJ. You know what makes a difference, doesn't.

Speaker 7 (30:43):
It when you have gloves that have a little stickiness
to them. It makes a difference. Okay, but this is
the thing, though we're not seeing one hand catches by
everybody and makes that play. You gotta get that player,
at least I do. I'm giving him the credit because
we're not seeing that every week like the d hops.

(31:04):
When he does it, that's expected, that.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
That's what he's what he made a career.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
I'm not that. I'm not that worked up and feel
that good about it time I see it. And teaching receivers.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
All you need to know is we watched what was it,
one weekend of college football, and they had four of
the greatest catchers we ever saw in the same weekend.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
What does that tell you, GJ.

Speaker 7 (31:27):
Rob. I came in, I came into the league, man
Tim browned it out, just tape on the fingers, man,
and then I went to playing Pittsburgh. It was got
it got real cold. I put them gloves on. I
never went back to the tape on the fingers.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
I bet you didn't. Hey, last thing I want to
ask you about.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
The Ravens are averaging what forty and a half points
a game, and they like they could take the foot
off the gas whenever they want. What do you make
of their offense? And it looks like they don't They're
not even trying really hard.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
I don't I tried what I what I tell you
last week you was on John Harbaugh's head. I told
you I said at Paul's they gonna be all right.
And you know, Grant dlle Pitt got him a little
excited talking about they just the Ravens and he gonna
do this, and he gonna do that, and they put
him in his place. It's a big game coming up.

(32:14):
I believe they played the Detroit Lions this Sunday and
the Baltimore Ravens and John Harball normally destroy the NFD
and so I'm eager to see now. Defensively, can they
shut a Detroit offense down that just went the work
that we just spoke about against the Chicago Bears. And

(32:38):
offensively are they gonna be able to go up and
down the field. But Lamar Jackson, Man, he the best
quarterback in.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
The league, no doubt, he the best.

Speaker 7 (32:47):
He can run him and Josh Allen, you take who
you want. You can't go wrong with either one. But man, Lamar,
this dude, the last two seasons, Man, his development as
a passer. You got to get that young man so
much credit because all he did was going to lab
work and get better and better and better and do this.

(33:08):
Dude is playing football the quarterback position, probably better than
we've ever seen a quarterback do it, at least in
my eyes.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
What throwing we He just passed Aaron Rodgers for the
best passer rating for a quarterback in the history of
the National Football He just passed Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (33:23):
And guess what, he's an all time leading rusher for quarterbacks. Also,
so when have we win? A running quarterback really can't
throw the ball. That's what they say. He's doing both
at a high, high level.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Yes, TJ, we gotta go, but yeah, appreciate you as always.
He's the best player the NFL the last two three years.
I've been saying and Rob has been saying it as well.
It is the Odd Couple. Thank you, TJ. Appreciate it man.
We'll do it again next week.

Speaker 7 (33:45):
All right, keep up the great works.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
No doubt there was a great boxing match that everybody enjoyed.
Good fight over the weekend. But maybe putting too much
sauce on the winner. Is that true? We'll tell you next.
It's the Eye Couple, Rod Parker, Kevin Washington, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Give me the money Shot.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (34:14):
Fox Sports Radio I Couple, Rob Parker Kelvin Washington on
The Magic City Monday. Business fluctuations make running your manufacturing
business complex, but staff of your business doesn't have to be,
so you gotta let Express Employment Professionals provide the workforce
you need. Go to expresspros dot Com to find the
location near you that is expresspros dot com. And now

(34:35):
it's time for the Express Pro of the Week. The
Pro of the Week goes to boxer Terrence Budd Crawford.
He jumped up two weight classes and beat Canelo Alvarez
to become the first undisputed champ and three weight classes
during the four belt era. So again, congrat to Terrence
Crawford for being our Express Pro Pro of the Week.
Rob got to enjoy the fight, really really good fight.

(34:57):
I won't say it was great, It was really really good.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
What made it not great to you?

Speaker 5 (35:02):
Maybe you want a little bit more action. You could
argue that I could, you know a little more, maybe
even a more compelling storyline to make it like something
great and iconic, you know. But it was really good,
high class, high quality boxers using their brains.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
What's working for me now. So it was. I really
enjoyed it.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
You got enough action that make you know, that got
you kind of wet your whistle, if you will.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
So I enjoyed it.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
And I think Bud Crawford for a lot of people
who don't know him or kind of knew the name
but never really saw him.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
A lot of people I know they all were on Crawford, like,
they all told me, oh, no Crawford, my guy Sean
at the Vaughans that I go to, he was just like, no, this.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Is gonna be his moment, his chance.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
And that's what it was for him because a lot
of people knew the name, maybe saw Fighters, but he
just hasn't been blockbuster. But if you knew, you knew,
you're like, yo, I'm telling you. And I was telling
Robber you. I remember watching him fight for the first
time and I'm like, Yo, this dude is incredible, And
I kept thinking, where's the flaw. He's got power, he's
got smart, he's got defense, he can tussle with you

(36:02):
if he can, you know, play the little back out
and you know, move around if he needed to, and
he showcased that. I mean, nobody's ever made outside of
Floyd Canelo. Look, I won't say pedestrian, that's disrespectful, but
just was kind of running around and handling Canelo. Nobody's
done that except Floyd, and so it was great to
see him. He's arguably the most complete boxer I've ever seen,

(36:23):
where like, I don't know the flaw. Some people, man,
they had really good, but they don't have a good chance.
Some people are man, he's just he's just a hard
hitter fighter, but he didn't have the technical skills man.
Bud Crawford for years has been maybe the most complete
boxer we've ever seen. And it was great to see
and shot to Canelo for taking his fight, because Canelo
could have he knew what he was getting up against

(36:44):
and he could have been like, nah, at this point,
I've been the money man. I've been the guy for
you know, decade. Now I'm straight this could be. But
I love that Canelo took this opportunity because he didn't
lose anything.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Let me go, fool you is this thing go?

Speaker 5 (36:57):
So what Canelo lost to a great, great, one of
the best fighters of all time, and it was a
good fight. It might get another one. That's the sport.
God forbid you getting a good fight. You lose and
you bounce back.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
But here here's my issue.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
I think people are always a prisoner of the moment.
And now where Crawford wasn't in the greatest fighter of
all time category, now he is, like you have to
be in that conversation before you get to the fight
that now people want to proclaim you as the best.
Do you know what I mean? Like, because it's not

(37:33):
just about being undefeated or whatever. I mean, Uh, Muhammad
Ali lost fights and people thought he was the greatest,
you know what I mean, despite having l's on his record,
So it's not just about being undefeated. But I don't
remember this conversation at all with Crawford prior to this.
Do you look at it like this? Do you look
at him like that?

Speaker 5 (37:54):
It was a insiders people thought that the average the
average person. But I think what helps him is the
way he dismantled Arrow Spence. I mean, it was a beating.
I don't know if Arrol's ever gonna be right again.
I'm not even being funny. And then the way he
goes up to what two three weight classes and he
gets in there with Canelo. He's smiling half the time,

(38:16):
like this is easy work. This the guy y'all thought
was gonna body me up. And they kept saying, who's
the bigger stronger I'm like, I don't know who the
bigger stronger guy? Because he was taking Canelo's punches normally
put people out, he was taking it like it was nothing.
So he absolutely put himself in that conversation for the
greatest of his generation will never get a greatest vault,
you know, because if Floyd is it, is it. Muhammad
Ali is a sugar Ray Robinson some people might like

(38:38):
sugar railer, will never get that. He absolutely made a
statement case for the best of his generation the last
you know, fifteen twenty, Like when Floyd kind of was
running down, it was but you gotta running back. Too
much money, too competitor. They're absolutely gonna run this back.
It makes no sense why they wouldn't running back. Best
fight we've had in quite some time with two great champs.
You running back, but putting the fat down down though,
