Speaker 2 (01:13):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Also, Brentley Weisman, the former NFL Scout Scout. He joins
us in about twenty eight minutes and it's a trash
Talking Tuesday. In about forty minutes or so. Your chance
to trash anyone anything in the world of sports, and
we will not nt interrupt you. You'll have thirty or
(01:35):
forty seconds to trash anyone anything in the world of sports.
So we'll do that. Let's go to the Los Angeles
Dodgers and where they are, which is not good.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Ain't lying about that.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
People thought they were gonna be the Beatles, and there
was gonna be a runaway season. And they spent another
billion dollars in the off season and they got all
these players and made trades all the other stuff that
said they're going back to the World Series. Look at
the team. It's not fair. Do you remember fans were
saying it wasn't fair. Yeah, And now here we are
(02:11):
almost in all I mean almost in September, a few
weeks away. Dodgers only have a one game lead against
the Padres and so they're disappointing. I mean it's hard.
I know they're in first place. But if you don't
think the Dodgers have had a disappointing season, I'm not
sure you've been following because it just hasn't been fun.
Mookie Betts is batting two forty like it's just it
(02:33):
doesn't feel right, would you say that just doesn't feel right?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Oh, the Dodgers had definitely been on the struggle bus,
that's without a doubt. I mean you look at Rob,
You look at the lead they had in their division,
and this is the division where you thought, all right,
they should You kind of thought where we are now
is where we might be throughout the season. But then
they got up ballooned up to a think eight and
a half lead against the Padres. You kind of thought
the Padres would be out of it and it'd be
(02:58):
the Dodgers to run away with and that was not
the case.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
And the Dodgers have found ways to be in the slump.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
Their bats went cold, then it was the pitching, then
it was the injuries, and now it's so bad. My
main man, Mookie, Like, do the right thing, my main man, Mookie.
You got the crowded cheering for him just because he
walked up to the plate, Rob trying to get him
into it. It's it's so unique to where they are
right now. They're in a position that they haven't quite
(03:25):
been in and and the expectations were high. They're on
pace to win only ninety two games, which are other
teams will be remarsible.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Way under what that's what absolutely people were thinking that
this team was gonna set the all time wins record.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
And this is why we continue to tell people, yes,
you can have maybe some type of salary minimum in
baseball where hey, because you have the Dodgers, the Mets,
the Yankees, handful of the teams spending crazy money. Then
you have the Marlins, the Rays, these other teams. That
don't mean you're gonna win anything. Because the Dodgers are
(04:00):
struggling right now. The Yankees and Dodgers hadn't met each
other in the World Series since eighty one prior to
last year, so just get just spend as much money
doesn't guarantee anything. And neither of the teams have been runaways,
including the Mets. Somebody's been runaways, so money doesn't necessarily
mean anything. And the Dodgers are struggling in multiple ways
right now and it's been rough for them. And even
(04:22):
Dave Roberts is like, yore's gotta be a sense of urgency,
and you would think, well, what the heck, why I
gotta tell you that, don't you know?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Well, the arm to this, and I'm serious is I
know a lot of people just think, Ohtani should be
the MVP every year. But I'm here to tell you
their struggles and his numbers. I don't think it should
be automatic. And let me just give you some examples. Okay,
from last year to this year. And we know last
year was a record setting kind of year. His war
(04:52):
was nine point two last year, you know what it
is this year five point three. That would be the
lowest since two thousand and two. So it's just five
point three. He had one hundred and thirty RBIs led
the National League. He has seventy eight. Sure, he's got
the forty two home runs, had fifty nine stolen bases,
(05:15):
only had seventeen this year. I'm just looking at these numbers.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
And.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Other than run scored, he leads the league in run
scored and played appearances.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
He's a leadoff hitter, you know what I mean. So
he gets a lot of at bats or whatever, but
that's it. And I think that the Dodgers struggling and
looking at his numbers and what he's been able to do.
And the other thing too is his batting average, which
is up to two eighty four. It was a couple
of weeks ago or ten days ago it was two
(05:50):
sixty eight. I mean, it hasn't been nearly what we
saw a year ago. And here's the other thing. Seventy
eight RBIs on forty two home run That ain't on him, though,
yes it is. That means he's not getting any other
hits when people he's not only you gotta remember he's
not only coming up to bat as a leadoff, right,
(06:13):
you only come up to the leadoff. There's other times
when other people are on bas It's not.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Just you've been watching them Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Yes, come on, we could take a look at it
and see where he is with runners and scoring position
and other things. It's not you can't just look at
RBIs and say that nobody's on base. Because he batted
leadoff last year and he had one hundred and thirty.
It's been a huge drop off and most of his
home runs have been so low home runs this year.
That's all I'm saying. Seventy eight RBIs on forty two
(06:40):
home runs is small.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yeah, you want something, and by now at that point
you won in the nineties, you just want some nineties.
I agree with that, and he would agree with that
if he was sitting right next to us. I think
a couple of things here. There's no debating this year
is not last year for him, especially when you factor
in the stolen bases fifty plus last year for him,
but on the flip side, instead of stealing all of
(07:03):
those bases like he had done last year.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
I don't know. Maybe he's now a starting pitcher.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
So I mean, that's what makes him so remarkable is
that you did list the offensive numbers that are slightly down.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Without a doubt, the facts are the facts.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
But the man is pitching now, getting up to the
four innings now, and we know in October he's gonna
legitimately be a starter in the postseason for them. So
to me, that is why he's so special and why
he's so unique, as you would hope to see him
get to this point, and now he's here where he
is pitching, he's starting and becoming a guy that you
can lean on and depend on. Oh, by the way,
(07:38):
he also has forty some out home runs as forty
two home runs as well. So here's the thing, too, Rob,
We've seen this with Steph Curry, Jo Kic, Brett Favre
and even Aaron Judge, where just because your numbers go down,
or your teams maybe lose more games or something, doesn't
(08:01):
mean you still can't be the MVP the next year.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
It happens. It's that you're the metrics or the dominant.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
The dominance by you is so high that instead of
you being a ten out of ten, maybe you're nine
point five.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Any other problem, It ain't nobody else as ten who's
gonna beat him.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Kyle Schwarber is the only candidate and he's not in
the case to beat him right now.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Well, but the only problem with that is he's not
leading in anything other than what I told you, played, appearances,
home runs. He has the forty two and but the
other numbers that he dominated, I'm saying, that's what I'm
looking at, and I'm looking at his team because you
expect the Dodgers to be better. Would you agree with that?
(08:44):
And yes, matter, But that's what I'm saying. You got
this guy who's all world and even the pitching numbers.
While he's pitching now, he's not winning games.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
He's not.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
It's not like he I know most people want to
give him the MVP because he does both and nobody
else is doing that. I get that, but I just
don't think that it's been the same year and it's
been a big drop off from a year ago. That's
all I'm saying. It just doesn't he doesn't feel like
the MVP to me.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
I just don't.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
I think for me, I'm not necessarily upset with some
of your thought processing. But my issue is it has
to be a clear cut guy because he can't not
give them MVP just because his numbers are down from
last year.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Somebody's got alls run away with it as well.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
And the best part about it if you're him or
anybody else in baseball, Baseball like the sport where you
your team has to be great.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
We have team We have seen guys who teams weren't
that great.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
You got Bryce Harper winning despite you know, they were
second in their division and didn't even make the playoffs
in twenty twenty one, Mike Trout knee, we discress him
winning VP's and his team not being great. So, I mean,
baseball is the sport where you can be the best
tea yet, but I don't know if your team doesn't
have to be amazing.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
I agree, but I don't think that those teams had
the expectations that the Dodgers have had. Would you get that?
That's what I'm saying, Like in looking at this, there's
no way you feel good if you're a Dodgers fan
right now about what you've seen this year. I get
what you're saying, you know what I mean. Like with
Mike Trout, nobody was expecting anything with the Angels, his
(10:17):
numbers were just so good the War. Think about the
War because that's the big one. He led last year
with a nine point two, right led the league nine
point two. He has a five point three. Would you
say that's a considerable drop off.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
That's a drop off.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
That's a considerable drop off.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
The only my main other point would be someone else
has to steal this from me, and no one else
is jumping out. Kyle Schubert's doing his thing forty two
home runs for himself. I see what he's doing and
I like it. But there's no one running away with
this thing. And that's the other problem to me is okay, fine,
I'm slightly down if I'm sure heil tany, but ain't
(10:59):
nobody stealing it from me? And therein lies the challenge somebody,
You get what I'm saying, somebody has to take it
from him. Otherwise, he's a reigning MVP and his numbers
are comparable, if not better than the other candidates. So
I just think it's and not to mention he's still
leading the division now, granted it ain't.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
A big league is what if they don't what if
they become a wild card team and he winds up
batting two seventy five. I mean, there's a lot of stuff,
and we've seen his batting average dip and he doesn't
get to one hundred RBIs, is he really the MVP? Seriously?
Seventy eight RBIs.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
That Well, he's still got change.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
No, but I'm asking you under one hundred RBIs and
his wars at five instead of nine, that's a huge
drop off.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
I think for me, the biggest thing, Rob is you're
not bringing up the fact that he's been pitching and
he has been had to become one of the reliable
pitchers for the Dodgers because of all the injuries throughout
the season. That's a massive He doesn't have any pitching
stats to be crazy about what I'm saying. People are
watching him pitch and they're saying, this dude is doing
all of this.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Forty two home runs.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
And he's still out here pitching as well, Like, this
is what we signed up for, whether you're if you're
the Dodgers, this is when you signed him and gave
him three quarters of him a billion dollars almost. This
is what you were waiting for. This is what baseball
was waiting for to have this feenal. This is what
fans were waiting for, specifically Dodger fans, and you're actually
getting to see it, and he's doing it at a
(12:28):
high level to the tune of again, the expectations are
him to be a starter in the postseason, why then
hurrying up and taking off his stuff to go to
swing a back the next bat or batter or two,
depending on where he ends up in the lineup. So
that's incredible, and we're actually finally seeing it playoff. We're
not hypothetically seeing it. We're seeing it with our own
eyes now.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
But he hasn't won any games. He's pitched fifteen innings.
I mean, like there's nothing there, you know what I mean,
Like if he would have want him won Nike his
first four I know he's only baby steps, but he
hasn't won anything. He al raised two point four zero,
which is fine, you know, but he has won.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Against but that's you can't just roll past that. Two
point four to one is incredible for Goud. It also,
that's all.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
That's only a fifteen innings. It's just not a lot
of pitching, you know.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
I wish I had. What more do you want from me?
Speaker 4 (13:16):
The man is coming back from injury, the man is
coming back from a World series title. Fifty on runs
plus fifty plus stolen bases.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Now I'm pitching? What more do you want from me?
Speaker 1 (13:28):
You just haven't won enough for me, that's all. I
just don't. I think he's What more do you want
from me? I think he's been over underwhelming to me
this year?
Speaker 2 (13:37):
All right, underwhelming.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
He's been underwhelming this year, absolutely all right. All pro
quarterback in the NFC is playing with fire. Will continue
with that. Next, it is The Odd Couple on a
trash Talking Tuesday. Don't forget you can get ready to
line up on that. It is the Odd Couple Fox

Fox Sports Radio, Odd Couple Kelvin Washington, Rob Parker Kevin
Washington on a trash talking Tuesday. By the way, Rob,
we got that coming up in about twenty twenty three
minutes or so, so you guys can get ready for that.
It's gonna be a good one. Haven't talked to you
guys a little bit, so excited hear what you have
to say for that. For over forty years, tire Wreck
(15:03):
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive shit fast and free back
by Free road has a protection with convenient installation options
like mobile tire installation, tire wreck dot com.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
It is the way tied buying should be.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Around the corner, we got Brittley Weisman, former NFL Scalvey
joining us here shortly as well. Rob rob G two,
we got some some interesting conversations coming out of Dallas.
When when do we not have interesting conversations coming out
of Dallas?
Speaker 2 (15:32):
But some interesting ones there.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Rob G can break down the latest with with Dak
Prescott and what he had to say, uh to Stan Kronkey,
the owner of the RAMS.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
I don't know if you heard me, Rob G.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
He's listening to another show.
Speaker 5 (15:49):
Yeah, I'm talking to Alex. We had some very interesting
stuff going on here. But yes, the Dallas Cowboys, they
are the gift that keeps on giving it sports talk
media true because not only do we have apparently a
wide ranging, in depth Netflix documentary on Jerry Jones and
the Cowboys, specifically the Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson Cowboys,
(16:12):
and we'll led to that whole debacle in the nineties.
We got Dak Prescott telling the owner of the Los
Angeles Rams, I guess we'll be seeing you in the
NFC Championship game. All of this while their best player,
their franchise player, the guy who legitimately gets eyeballs and
ears and clicks on their team, Michael Parsons is still upset.
(16:37):
So this whole situation in Dallas, I can't say it's
really bad news because it's kind of par for the course.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
You said the last part there. This is par for
the course. And to me, a couple of things. One,
Jerry Jones has been vocal. We all know about the
way he runs his business, but now he's to the
point he's just admitting it. And this is why the
football end of the Cowboys is always troubling. The football
end of the Cowboys is why they haven't won a
Super Bowl since nineteen ninety five and why they haven't
(17:07):
been an NFC Championship in that twenty nine seasons. Football
in is the issue because the guy who's running the
business and making them relevant, who he just said, Jerry Jones,
He basically running it like a reality TV If he
were a businessman running this like a Netflix show or
the owner of a bunch of reality TV shows a
VH one, I'd be okay with it, because hey, controversy,
(17:29):
finding storylines. We need all that, but the Cowboys also
need some wins. And who he plays has been fun fine,
has not been exceptional in the postseason. And in fact,
anybody who quarterbacks who's had three starts in division rounds,
only three have never made it past the division round.
Two of those are former Corboard quarterbacks Tony Romo, Dak Prescott, Dak,
(17:54):
you got injured. The team has drama, all types of issues.
Just focused on the football. You don't have to plead
the Jerry Jones to be out there. I'll see you
in the NFC Championship. Yeah, I know, that's just something
he probably was, you know, saying to Stan Kronkey as
he's tapping them up.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Just what is he supposed to say, We're gonna suck?
Speaker 7 (18:11):
No.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
But my point, the larger point for me with Dak
is you have to be the big boy in the room. Unfortunately,
you have to be the leader of this team now
as the quarterback. You're supposed to, but because your owner
always is creating controversy, your owner always is creating extra
bulletin boar material for yourself and other teams. So you
have to be the big boy at the podium, and
he needs to focus on that because his team has underachieved.
(18:34):
His team has had twelve and five seasons, has done
nothing with it. He's been an MVP candidate and has
done nothing with it. So this is where your focus
needs to lie. Because to be honest, you're talking NFC Championship.
You might be the third best team in your own
division behind the Eagles and the Commanders. Then you gotta
deal with the Lions and Packers, the Bucks. I don't
know why to and as the Rams as well, how
(18:56):
they just jumping over everybody and getting in the NFC
Championship game.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Rob, Maybe I'm wrong. Tell me I'm wrong, because I
don't see it.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
I don't think. I think it was just coach speak,
players speak, where they have those conversations this training camp.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I get that. I don't.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
I don't look at that as anything. He didn't go
and predict or make some sort of guarantee or whatever.
Just a conversation that people, oh, yeah, we'll see you here. Hey,
how you doing, Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll do this. It's
a way of paying somebody to compliment that supposedly they
have a good team, and me thinks that they have
a good team. That's all I saw on it. I
(19:34):
don't see anything else to it.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
The larger issue I have is when Jerry Jones comes
out here and it's you know, talking about how the
way in which he runs his business and specifically the Cowboys,
and he just talks about how, you know, they're like
a we're a soap opera three hundred and sixty five
days a year and it's a great part. It's great
to be a part of it. And he loves the
drama and all of that. And my issue with that
(20:00):
is that often comes down to the players because they
have to deal with the added pressure of being the
copp They have to deal with the added pressure of
all the conversations you keep being in or how you
love the drama in the offseason, you don't want to
sign Micah.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Now Micah's ticked off.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
One of your if not the best player in your
team is ticked off, and other player.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
To me, all of.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
This is unnecessary and unfortunately, as we know, Jerry Jones
is the guy who's running the business, but he's also
running the football as well, and that's the problem. If
he was just running the business, keeping them relevant, keeping
him in the news, I'd get that.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
I'd be okay, I get that.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
It's the fact that he's making the football decisions as
well and they ultimately affect that. So while that may
just be having fun tongue in cheek, I've seen an
NFC championship game. I don't see how that. You know,
this is going to be difficult because of again the
environment and what you're playing in. The expectations around the
team went to me, they're not really warranted right now.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Yeah, I still just think I don't know what. I
don't know what to say in the preseason, you know
what I mean? You really, uh, they still have to
be able to produce and get something done in the season,
and no matter what they say or their actions leading
up to the season, cause you just mentioned it, they
won twelve games three years in a row on the
(21:14):
Mike McCarthy and they just that that's what people are
looking at, you know what I mean. It's not like
they were like terrible. I know they were bad defensively
last year and they had a bad season, but twelve
wins three years in a row before last year, it's
the disappointment. So you know they have some players, you
know they can win games, and people aren't going to
buy into the Cowboys until they actually do it.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Yeah, and stop.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Just Jerry Jones, man, just let I know as to
your dying day, it's not gosh, it's okay. It's not
gonna do anything. It's ok I know, I know, but
it's my job to say it. Dan, it's okay to
really you know what. Some of the best minds in
the world do. They hired to their weaknesses. They hire
people who are better than them, are smarter than them.
(22:00):
They do that all right, all the way. Brittley Weisman,
former NFL Scott We'll talk some more NFL with Brintley
here in just a bit. Right now, Steven Sega is
gonna get you caught up on what's trending, Aystack.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
We are the Odd Couple. He's Rob.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
I'm Kelvin on eight Trash Talk on Tuesday. Getting ready
for those in a minute. In fact, if you want
to start lining up, Rob, they can probably line up
now right eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We'll
get to trash talk coming up in about ten a
little bit over ten minutes right now. Brinley Weisman, former
NFL scout Brintley twelve on ex Brintley, what's up?
Speaker 8 (22:40):
Hey, appreciate you guys having me on. Always a good time,
Rob real quick. Congrats man, congrats on getting the box
the boots name after you men. Accomplishment. It's really really
cool man.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Thank you, Brentley. It means a lot. You know, you're
Alma Mada and all that. And I can't wait till
October fourth in New Haven, Connecticut. Thank you, my man.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
You appreciate it.
Speaker 8 (23:00):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Yeah, I just want to start with what do you
make of Chador and the Browns. I want to go
there first. Just what do you take from it? It
doesn't look like anything's moved on on, you know, for
the Browns and what their ideas are quarterback wise.
Speaker 9 (23:17):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 8 (23:18):
It was a good performance.
Speaker 10 (23:20):
I think.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
You know.
Speaker 8 (23:22):
One of the things for me is I had Shador
as the second best quarterback in the draft last year.
Obviously he fell to the fifth round. I think for
reasons that weren't because of his play. So watching him
on Friday night, nothing that he did surprise me. You
saw the accuracy, saw the decision making, you saw the poise,
(23:42):
his ability to layer the football between defenders on both
of his touchdowns. Those are all things you saw at Colorado.
But I don't think it changed anything for me. You know,
they drafted Dylan Gabriel above him for whatever reason, but
nothing he did on Friday is going to change their minds.
(24:05):
I think they know what they had in him as
a player. It's all about what can he do from
a leadership standpoint, from in the building standpoint that's really
going to help him, you know, beat out Gabriel or
Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
You don't see there's no way they're taking four quarterbacks
and I just to me, it just seems like Kenny
Pickett would be the backup and then you take one
of the two young guys.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
You absolutely, I mean, I think it's tough because you're
not going to cut a Dylan Gabriel, who he drafted
in the third round, right you can't. You can't cut
him as too high of draft capital, Sadr Sanders, since
he was a fifth round pick. But based on the
play that you saw on Friday, I also think you
(24:53):
can't cut him. It's anything you could trade him. You
could trade him to a quarterback desperate team. You see
that there's lyons good backup quarterbacks are not looking good
at at all. So maybe it seemed like that comes calling.
But if you had to get rid of one of
the quarterbacks, it's probably gonna be picket. But to your point,
there's probably a good chance they're going to keep off four.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
But one of the lines that Rob loves from his
good friend Joe Dumars is basically, and I'm paraphrasing, it
ain't about being right, it's about getting it right. And
if they feel like Kenny Pickett isn't the guy, then.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Then it's okay to move on. But if they don't
think you should think.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Guy, I mean, if they don't think he's a done.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
But I'm basing off the lots and he was just saying,
if Kenny Pickett you feel like he may be overreached
with the trading for him, so be it. But so
so yeah, we'll continue to wait and see what's going
on with what should do or there, Uh, let's let's
go to the other side. Another conversation we were having
is what Caleb Williams Uh, He's got weapons, he got
a new coach. People have high expectations. They had him
(25:51):
even looking like they're going to be really good in
the division.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
I'm not so sure on that.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
What do you make of Caleb and his A lot
of people are upset with his UH program RAN meaning
leaning more towards the Red Russian.
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Yeah, I'm very excited to see how kayleb performs with
new coach Van Jonson. I think what you saw last year,
you saw a lot of flashes. He saw a lot
of kind of the rale driving, the ability that you
saw usc some of those off platform throws, those remarkable
kind of throws in pressure. Those are things that Gon
Gatcham have won overall. But with that, you had a
(26:26):
lot of bad decisions, a lot of inaccurate passes in
quest moments, a lot of Saatski should have not have taken,
we should have started away the ball. So those are
those those are things I think Ben Johnson can't clean up. Obviously,
there's gonna be a lot of pressure on Caleb this year.
He has a lot of weapons. He had the j
Moore against Roma Dooms in the drafted, a tight end
(26:48):
tenth overall and Colson Lovelin, so he has talent around him.
So now it's going to be on him. I think
last year you got the benefit of the doubt rookie
the coaching staff, so he kind of got play pressure free.
Now with Ben Johnson, who many around the league think
he is the best play call in the NFL, there's
(27:10):
no more excuses.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
And so when Caleb isn't.
Speaker 8 (27:14):
Starting hot like he did last year, a lot of
his stats came when they're already down, like thirty points
in the game. He could just throw and make place
happen in the game, didn't matter. He's gonna be under
pressure to make plays in the first quarter, make plays
on the on the first drive of the game, give
the Bears a chance to be competitive early on. And
(27:35):
that doesn't happen, then yeah, I think he's gonna be
under a ton of pressure. He's gonna be feeling like
heat a little bit, because again, it's.
Speaker 11 (27:43):
All on him this year.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
When it comes to the Vikings, I was in the
camp of I'm not signing Sam Donald to a big contract.
I just the two biggest games of the year. He
turned to Google. But what about JJ McCarthy and what
if your about him and expectations for him, obviously as
a coach that has done well with quarterbacks.
Speaker 8 (28:06):
Yeah, well I completely agree. I would not stand signed
Sam Donald as well to a large contract.
Speaker 11 (28:12):
He did it one year.
Speaker 8 (28:14):
You can't do that.
Speaker 11 (28:15):
But in terms of Jase.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
McCarthy, look I liked him a lot coming out of Michigan.
I think one of the things about Jajie McCarthy is
he's never been asked to be a volume thrower, meaning
he's always been a guy who's had a strong running
game and a strong defense. The interesting thing about the
viakings in the Lake, Kevin O'Connell wants to play. He's
(28:37):
a pass first quarterback, a quarterback coach, and so he's
going to be asking McCarthy to throw the ball thirty
or thirty five times a game, and he's never done that,
and that makes me very nervous. I think McCarthy's at
his best when he has a running game. He can plug,
throw off play action, rely on his defense. So it's
(28:59):
going to be interesting to see. I do have my
questions about McCarthy. Some of the decision making, especially when
I'm in the game, is kind of close, and you know,
he has almost gone and having moments he does scare
me a little bit. But at the end of the day,
you have dusinein Jefferson, you have TD Hawkinson, you have
Georg Jordan Ashen and Connell is a good play caller,
(29:20):
so I'd be surprised if he's failed. But I do
have questions about the way they want to play.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Got one last one, Kelvin, because yeah, I got one
last one here for when I'm looking at the Raiders.
Obviously they got Pete Carroll. Now they got Geno, and
they got Ashton Gent. A lot of people are high
on as as the running back. There have some expectations
of him. What do you make of just Ashton Gent
joining that squad and what you expect from the Raiders?
Can they actually make some noise?
Speaker 8 (29:49):
Yeah? I love the Ashton jenk pick. I thought he
was the second best player in the draft last year
behind at Buil Carter Pete Carroll. Coming from Seattle, you know,
one of his main things the ball and being physical.
The Raiders last year had by far and away the
worst running game in the NFL. They had to improve
that phase of the game. I think Ashton Jink's going
(30:11):
to be a dynamic player from them week one. I
know people are kind of down on his preseason debut,
but they weren't doing anything exotic. They weren't trying to
show off their prize the rookie. I wouldn't take much
into that. I think the Raiders could be a surprise team.
You know, again, they're going to play down at defense.
Jerino Smith is going to take care of the football,
(30:31):
and I do think they're going to be able to
loose the ball in the ground and with the GMT.
Each for the Raiders is they're playing in that division.
You know, automatically you're playing against Sean Page, the Brocos,
Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers, and Andy Reid and the Chiefs.
That's just a tough, tough task. And so I think
the Raiders, well their record may not show it. I
think they're going to be better than many people think
(30:53):
they're going to be.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
We appreciate you, man, Thank you so much for joining us.

Man, he's a coach. He's got a boss.
Speaker 12 (33:07):
Ahead of him who's making the call, so he has
a convertly uh talk. But I'm sure every coach wants
to win. It's all about the death. So I really
feel like Shadur is in his presence, but sometimes I
hire people speak, so we already know Jerry Jones. But
(33:28):
Cleveland's owner has some shine.
Speaker 9 (33:31):
Too, you know, it's just under the table. But anyway,
that's my.
Speaker 12 (33:35):
Perspective, So yours like me? Who was really kind of

game the year that the Liars went and sixteen. You
asked Rob mary Nery, is he happy that his son.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
His son get it right or not get it right? Okay,
because that's not what I asked him.
Speaker 11 (34:50):
Oh, I thought you could. I thought you could cut
us off.
Speaker 9 (34:53):
Rob.
Speaker 11 (34:53):
Rob, you got some of that Tom Brady stuff going
on right now. Man, I'm seeing the hate and this
guy just started. I don't know what it is, but
like you tried to tell Ephra, Man, come on, man,
you're better than that. Love you rap.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Joseph and Arianna. You're in the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Who you trashing, Joseph?
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Who you trashing Joseph?
Speaker 10 (35:14):
I'm trashing Bill Emir and Isaiah Thomas for still having
their feet with Michael Jordans for forty years later. The
reason they're they say Lebron James. The only reason they're
saying that is because they're jealous MJ killed their dynasty
before it happened. Isaiah, I have all the respect in
the world to me. You were a top three point guard.
(35:36):
I think you're specond behind magic. You just you both
deserved the respect, but you guys realized MJ is the goat,
not Lebron.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
All right, thanks Joseph, appreciate you. Tyroneah in Tennessee, you're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who you trashing?
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Trashing Tyrone.
Speaker 9 (35:58):

All my raids grades would have kind of grasses. But
I guess the Giants beat.
Speaker 11 (37:05):
Them to it.
Speaker 13 (37:06):
You know, as you told about the Browns having trapped
in two quarterbacks trading for one sign one Giants, it's
singing too. They signed two free and quarterbacks. One's a
whole fan, and they also kept Dany do Vido, So
I guess you can never have too many quarterbacks. But
Jack's should have been the raided or leading the ram.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
All right, thank you real quick. Andre in Massachusetts join
