(01:19):
be down with the King. Sean King, the former NFL
quarterback and Fox Sports Radio NFL analysts will do that.
So a lot to do in this hour number two.
And I don't carry I don't take a lot of
vacation time. I haven't over the years. Right, It even
feels weird when I'm you know, not doing the show
(01:43):
or whatever, and I'm just I just want people to
understand on what's changed a little bit and why I'm
taking time off or whatever. Is like I have to.
When we started the new show, I basically worked ten
months without taking any time I'm off because you know,
I mean, Chris had left and Kelvin. I wanted to
(02:03):
make sure we re established the show and kind of
keep it so that people, you know, would understanding nothing
really was changing or whatever. And you know, you take
you work ten straight months without really taking any time off,
it piles up on you.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
So I'm just saying, so if I'm off again, I
don't want you guys to be like Rob's changed on us,
or you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
That's what I thought, Rob, g I'm the same guy, na,
Rob Parker runs from the grind, Rob.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
That's what I thought, right, Because you're like right, You're
like Rob was off right and I was filling in
a couple of shows.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
I'm like, where is Rob?
Speaker 5 (02:37):
What's going on? What's the real deal? You thought I
was in rehab. You are from gluten, you got you
gotta gluten reserve.
Speaker 6 (02:44):
And this is why I see you guys are different
because I heard from anonymous sources that they offered carry
half a million dollars.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Here we go, fill in? Is that right? Here we go?
And he's like, hold that, I don't run from the grind.
I no doubt.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
We appreciate you being here and a lot to get
to in this hour. Rob g Shador Sanders preseason game. Uh,
people reacted like they wanted he won the super Bowl
or something. I'm just not going to be in that camp.
Robb g Uh, you can talk about his preseason uh
(03:22):
numbers and whatnot. I mean just from obviously I was
at the convention, but I did watch the highlights and
watch the game live. I have poise, you know what
I mean. People make it like people are shocked that
he can He played major college football. He can play.
It's just what degree. That's all we're trying to figure out.
(03:43):
It's not whether or not he can am I right,
there's levels to level, but let's be honest, playing the
first preseason game of the NFL, it's just not the
same carry you.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
You know this.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
You played preseason games and laid in the game three
of the preseason, which is like to dress and then
opening it did not right?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Is it levels to it again?
Speaker 5 (04:07):
It's levels to it. Yes, first preseason game. You want
to come out of that game with your health, you
trying to do anything. It's very vanilla. You're playing against
base defense. Nobody's showing any exotic looks. It would be
the equivalent of a little bit more in ten seven
on seven as far as game plan will go, like,
you're not You're not even done with it. You're not
(04:28):
even done with the install yet. So yeah, it's not sophisticated.
But again he came out like you said, look, pois
look competent. Obviously can make the rolls. But when you
have to really decipher on the fly and have to
make changes and do all these things that a top
level quarterback has to do, We're gonna have to wait
and see what that looks like. Right now isn't the
time to judge that yet. And he didn't change in
(04:51):
the depth chart. He's still fourth, you know, what I mean. Yeah,
so that officially right, like they didn't go.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Oh my god, what what are we watching? Oh my god?
Take first team rps.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Of course, Joe Flatco here's a.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Walker, you know, or a rocking chair. Sit down.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
No, that did not happen, Rob g go ahead, well
you mentioned it, guys. He was fourteen to twenty three
for one to thirty eight, two touchdowns. Both of those touchdowns,
by the way, great throws, yep. At any level college pros.
They were great.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Want of rolling to his left over two defenders corner
of the end zone. It was great, yep.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
As you mentioned though, Rob, for all of the excitement,
the pomping circumstance around in that game hasn't changed much
in the eyes of Kevin Stefanskian that coaching staff, because
he is still number four behind the very old, very
mature Joe Flacco, the current starter.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
I mean, now you know how this works. He's going
to be their start, of course, the currently injured Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 6 (05:48):
And lest we forget the man taking two rounds ahead
of him, the Van Wilder of college football, Dylan Gabriel,
because he was there for nineteen years. So as much
as we were all excited about how he played. He
played well, hasn't changed much if anything.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
And here's what I'm gonna say. Carry what you got
just a total overreaction. And there's too many people who
are fanboys when it comes to should do it, even
people doing our jobs.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Dude, let it go.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
You can't be that invested like something's wrong if your
dad invested, or you feel hurt because he's not getting
what reps you think he should get, Like like I
don't understand that. I really don't you. I understand that's
his dad or somebody, but my god, like like you.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Know, Lewis Riddick had to come and make up what
do you do?
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Retraction because he was because they were setting them up
for failure. And then he has to say, well clean
it up, you know what I mean? Because when you
say stuff like that, I mean if I'm in, if
I'm a GM or front office person with the browns
or the coach, really, dude, like based on what you
gotta give me something?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
They let him start.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
He played right, they didn't put him in you know,
like okay, like he didn't take any steps all year,
and then they put him in the guse Okay, like
what what is this? This is why teams wanted to
stay away from him, Am I right? Because this is
going and you could say whatever you want, it ain't
(07:20):
about we want to put him in his place. So
tired of hearing that as well, because Tim Tebow faced
the same thing. People don't want that, not when you're
not the starting quarterback.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
That part right, If you're not the starting quarterback, we
cannot deal with the headache of you getting drawn attention
away from the main thing, which is the team and
whoever the number one guy is, because that causes fricking
in the locker room.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
That's why Colin Kaeberneck couldn't get in another job. Not
that he couldn't be a backup quarterback. Guess he could
have been for years. He could have been a backup quarterback,
but there was too much that had to go with him.
And you don't want a pow wow at his locker
every day. That's right, that's right, that's football. So people
don't understand that. And once they looked at him and
(08:06):
decided he's not a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I brought it up a million times. But here's the
other part.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Tony Grossi is a radio talk show hosts in Cleveland.
He used to be a reporter for the Playing Dealer
and for whatever reason, after shad we don't have sound,
do we have it?
Speaker 5 (08:21):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
But Shador went at him about he's always negative, like
something was rob g like, Tony, what are you gonna
say now?
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Or something will? Tony?
Speaker 6 (08:31):
Why are you always saying something negative about me? And
every say anything positive? I've never done anything to you.
And that's the other thing up until what day was
that Friday?
Speaker 4 (08:40):
The game?
Speaker 1 (08:42):
What had he done to warrant? And he praise anyway?
He dropped in the draft. People thought he's gonna be
a first round pick to fifth. He had two speeding tickets.
He wasn't getting any reps with the first team. I
don't know what was Tony supposed to say. I don't
know why he's even going after a reporter right now? Anyway,
(09:02):
thank you what you're not going to get anything accomplished.
And if that reporter really doesn't like you and whatever,
let's say he doesn't like Mike.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Oh you doing is getting the more amo to do
it again anyway? But why would you be borught?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
It reminds me of Dion his first game of Colorado
uh ed warder right, yeah, yeah, yeah, he went at him.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Oh what do you say, Rob, Do you can't answer any
ask any questions?
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Are you a believer?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Now?
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Okay, they be TCU, They're in a national championship. And
then we realized TCU weren't that good and they didn't
have a great Colorado didn't wind up. They won that game,
finished with six wins or whatever it was. It won
that great after the first couple of weeks. But my
point is, why should should do or be worried about
one guy who's on the radio. I could never, even
as a guy who's in the media, I to call
(09:52):
him and I used to, you know, my saying, if
I'm right and I'm ripping, Carrie, That's gonna be the
title of my book. I'm right, I'm ripping. If I'm writing,
I'm ripping. Okay, So I know what that. But I
never felt like, why would you care about what a
reporter is writing? Seriously, And I'm not saying if I'm
(10:14):
being if I give you false information, incorrect stats, it's
just an opinion.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Listen, Rob, When I was playing in New York, which
is obviously the worst, the worst place to play. If
you're if you're sensitive, I just couldn't. I wouldn't look
at that stuff anyway, Like.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Why are you wasting your time?
Speaker 2 (10:35):
For you?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
It's I've said this when young players come to Detroit
and and I would just say to them, like advice,
I say, the radio and the papers are for the fans.
It's not so if you get caught up in that
and you want to read when you have three interceptions,
you better read when three balls goes over your head too,
(10:56):
you know what I mean, Like, because you're gonna get,
you're gonna get the other side. Just be careful and
all that kind of stuff should do or I just
I don't think that that was necessary.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
I just want you to do it. To focus on
playing football, which I know he is. I know he's playing,
I know he's doing the work. I know he's doing
everything he can to be the best version of himself.
But again, worry about what you can control. You can't
worry about what people say, what they write. You have
to go out and prove that you can play this
game at the level that you need to play at me.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
But you're not surprised that he didn't move anywhere on
a depth chart.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Are you after that game. That's not a game that's
gonna move you up anywhere. That game is not gonna
do anything for you.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
It gives him confidence that he can go out and
get it done, and I think that's all that matters. Again,
it doesn't matter what we think right now of what
he's doing. If it's coaching staff in the GM and
its offensive coordinator don't think he's at the level that
he needs to be at yet, that game's not gonna
be the game that.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Put him over the hume. No, it's not gonna change anything.
I still think he's gonna get cut. You think he's
gonna get cut? I do, Well, I'm sticking with that. Okay,
he's not gonna get cut.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Only because there's only they're not gonna take for a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
Yeah, but he's better than I would think, he's better
than Kenny Pickett. So I just don't think you'll get
cut out.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Of Yeah, they gave up they gave up draft picks
for Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
I mean it's then the GM has to answer that.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Then that's true.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Not only that, but if you if you're drive cutting
Kenny Pickett, then you got to say to yourself. Okay,
now we got two rookie quarterbacks. Somebody gets hurt, that
doesn't make sense. You can keep one of them, can't
keep two because if somebody gets hurt, your whole season,
You and the coach. Now you got this kid in there,
right and your season could go the other way. Say,
(12:32):
I'm just saying, Oh, that's how I look at it.
I just don't see how you can go with two
newbies in that in the second and third spot unless
and the only way I see shador and I bring
it up all the time was the Russell Wilson thing.
When Matt Flynn got the big deal in Seattle. He
had the big game against the Lion through six touchdowns,
the all time record for a Packers quarterback. And we
(12:55):
know how many great quarterbacks have played for the Packers, right, yes,
and see game the deal. Russell Wilson showed up and
you know what they said, Sorry, he's quarterback?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Right, Yeah, you don't. You don't then you don't care
about what you gave up for Kenny Picken.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
You don't care about Joe Flacco's Super Bowl ten years
ago at whatever, twelve years You don't care about that stuff.
If that guy's a guy, That's all I'm saying. Yeah,
So I just I don't know how you keep unless
you the only way, unless they just think that Dylan
is a flop, you know what.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
I mean, Or he's Dylan's got to get healthy and
show what he can do on the fright.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
So that's the other thing. Yeah, you don't know. They
still drafted him higher, know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yeah, for sure, and they're going to give him I
think a little, a little you know, to get health yet, Yeah,
because he's not.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
It's one thing. If he's healthy and he didn't play well,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Remember Wally pipp Yeah, yeah, you got you gotta be healthy.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
No, you have to be healthy. All right?
Speaker 1 (13:51):

Blame it on the That's why a bread Alex because
of the alcohol. What it was because of the alcohol
made me eat a bread Glizzy.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
I was just had a Glizzy in my mouth. Hey man,
I'm tired. I'm tired of the Glizzies. Alex, Alex and Rob.
Speaker 1 (15:31):

nine on Fox?
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Have you changed?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
There? You go?
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Have you changed your mind?
Speaker 1 (16:07):
On Shador after his first preseason game in the NFL
on Friday. I haven't changed my mind. The Browns haven't
changed their mind. Have you changed your mind? Is the question?
And I know carry people want to jump in. Let's
see what we got here. We got kJ from Shreveport
and you're on with the Odd Couple.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
What's up? kJ?
Speaker 7 (16:27):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (16:27):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (16:28):
Fellows man?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Thank you? My man, appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, I got a. I mean my mind.
Speaker 8 (16:34):
Hasn't changed on him.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
He's only gonna get better. I love to watch. I
usually don't put a lot of stock in preseason, but
watching him, you know, come out there.
Speaker 8 (16:42):
He's poised and you know he got some stuff to
work on. But he's in the best best position.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
He can be in. But Ron, he is not gonna
get well. The drown people are going to Cleveland to
see him.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
People don't care about that so much. Tim Tebow. Tim
Tebow was a bigger draw and he couldn't get a job.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Tim Tebow the number one jersey.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
He cares about that. You know what, you're the Browns? Okay,
Colin Kaepernick? So what does that mean? He couldn't get
a job.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
So what collusion?
Speaker 3 (17:15):
That's they.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Know.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
What I'm saying to you is, don't get caught up
on no jersey sales. The Browns are trying to win.
They need to win. If he could help them win,
he would be the quarterback. It's so simple.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on fog we got Jerome
from Minnesota. You own the okable man. How are you?
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Hey? What's up?
Speaker 6 (17:38):
Rob?
Speaker 8 (17:38):
Are you first listen to the show?
Speaker 2 (17:41):
I thank you?
Speaker 4 (17:42):
That's why I appreciate that absolutely.
Speaker 8 (17:45):
The first thing I got is when you said that
you do and confronted the reporter. That was more of
a friendly conversation. Wasn't any anything confrontational about it?
Speaker 4 (17:56):
What does he care about that.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
So what everybody's not gonna You know what my mom
told me when I was ten years old. I came
home talking about the kids don't like me or whatever
it was. She said, everybody didn't like Jesus Christ.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Either. You're all right, You're in good company.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
So what what do you care what somebody's saying on
the radio about you.
Speaker 8 (18:13):
Either way you presented, you presented it as if he
confronted him in a manner where he was checking him
or something. They were having a good time about it.
So that's my first point. Checond point is everything they
said about you you should do that.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
He couldn't do?
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Is the reason why woo who said he couldn't do?
Speaker 5 (18:30):
What?
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Th football? What did they say?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Let me finish, let me finish? Okay, boys in the pocket?
He showed that.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Where where'd you hear that? Where'd you hear that? No, Jerome,
you stop, Jerome, Where did you hear?
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Where did you hear that? Who said that? The reason that, Jerome,
I'm asking you what, Jerome?
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Give me the source of the NFL scout or analysts
who said he had no pods and he couldn't scramble?
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Who told you that?
Speaker 8 (19:02):
Hey, that was that was the covers that Okay.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
You can't give me the source, then thanks Jero, appreciate
the call. All right, appreciate the call. Thank you, thank you,
eight seven seven ninety nine Off.
Speaker 6 (19:13):
You know what's funny about all these callers is that
they assume, because you think he's gonna get cut, that
you're saying that he sucks, right and he can't play?
Speaker 4 (19:19):
What thank you?
Speaker 6 (19:20):
Thank you, And what you're really saying is, look, they've
decided Joe Flack, even though it's ninety years old.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Is going to be the starter.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
That they've decided is they've drafted Dylan Gabriel two rounds. Answer,
they're more invested in him than they are actually doing
standards right. And last nobody least they traded an asset
to get Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
And nobody takes four quarterbacks. You know, you play in
the NFL four quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
But to the callers, Rob saying should do it sucks
and he's always hated black quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
There you go, except to Lamar exactly eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox, we got Dion from Texas.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
You know with the couple, man, how are you? What's up? Dion?
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Hey, what's up.
Speaker 7 (19:57):
I got a question for your Rock.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
See, I'm fired up, right, do you.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
Believe Hey, look no, I think the address, rob Ge.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
It is how you presented it.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Rock.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
You were like, uh, what he did.
Speaker 7 (20:10):
In preseason game what and all that impressed?
Speaker 8 (20:12):
It didn't change anything.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
I didn't say that.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
I said it didn't change I said it didn't change
the Browns.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
They didn't move.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Them up, they didn't go oh my god, they didn't
do any of that. Because Carrie played in game ones
of the preseason and and you're making a big deal, Dion.
It ain't like people who've played. I'm played, Carry's played.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Carry.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Carry knows the difference between that game and Game three
of the preseason of the dress rehearsal and game one
is big difference.
Speaker 7 (20:44):
Well so the eth Slam he played, and he said, Hey,
he was drafted in the seventh round. And it don't
matter if you have that guy, if you're that if
you're that talented, you can prove it on the field
during practice. Hey, it don't really matter where you got drafted,
can he Pikett? Hey, they may realize trading.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
As yeah, but the only problem is the only problem
is if they really believe they had something, he would
be getting first team reps already. They would they would
know that they have something, and they would know it's not. No,
it's not he hasn't got any first He hadn't got
any first not not, not in not in the pre camp,
(21:20):
and not in camp.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
That's ridiculous.
Speaker 7 (21:22):
If you're I agree with you, But that does highlight
why Riddick said they were setting them up to fail.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
But RIDI ridic That's why Riddick took it back because
he can't say that.
Speaker 7 (21:31):
But he went out there and performed and he did
what he was supposed to know.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
But Ridick, Riddick.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Doesn't have any any any uh foundation. And you got
to tell how you just can't say that without any
kind of uh uh something to prove that there's some
sort of uh collusion.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
To make him look bad or whatever.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Like, you just can't go and say that you're you're
compromising everything that's being done in that front office and
those people and those coaches to say they don't want
to win. The Browns have never won anything. Why wouldn't
they want to win? It's illogical, it's illogical. All Right,
I'm fired though, all Right, we're gonna be Down with
(22:10):
the King. Coming up next, Sean King, former NFL quarterback
on Fox Sports King Radio, NFL analysts prefers, mister Steve
de Seger.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
It is the odd couple, Rob Parker, Kerry Roads here
on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Now, let's welcome in our guests, the King.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
That's right, Oh, if we are down with the King,
Sean King, the former NFL quarterback Fox Sports Radio, NFL
analysts showing us what's up?
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Sean say hi to carry.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (22:59):
Raw?
Speaker 4 (23:02):
What's the news?
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Sanders is the first guy to be inducted into.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
The No, Sean, we just were talking about it and
everybody gets their panties in the bunch because he's not
elevated to the starter after that uh first preseason game
start or whatever.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Sean, can you break it down and let people.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Know, uh to stop like and they're making it And
this is the thing, I just berated a guy because
he's making it like nobody thinks he can play. And
there's levels to all of this, that's not the issue.
I'm not surprised that that he can play play major
college football. Right, Okay, but where are you on Shador
(23:45):
and what did you see?
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Well? I like contexts and I like perspective. I think
those are two things that are very important. We're analyzing
professional sports. No one's saying Jackson Dark should start for
the Giants, and he played actually better than Sador. No
one's saying Tanel McKee should start for the Eagles. He
had a phenomenal games that'sn't been it balled out. People
are still talking about, oh my god, if Stafford isn't healthy,
(24:10):
what are we gonna do to the Seduer fan base.
There's this thing called process. Let it play out. Here's
what they don't understand. Say, Chadure was the one that
had the sore Himmy and Dylan Gabriel had the game
Shador had, they would be up and off. Shador deserves
a chance to prove what he can do. Right, Well,
(24:32):
what's right for the goose is right for the gander. Right,
those other guys are gonna get their shot. If Shaduor
is anywhere close to being self appointed legendary, that's the
easiest pathway to starting quarterback in the entire league. It'll happen,
but let the process play out. If he played bad,
I wasn't gonna say he sucks. If he paid great,
(24:53):
I wasn't gonna say he should be the starter. Let
the process play out.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
But you're right, And here's my issue. And I did
this with Cooper Flag when he had his first game.
Remember he was like three for ninety or whatever from
the field right, and I just said, I just said, seriously,
you can't have it both ways, because if he were
to dropped forty, you would be random raving about how
great he is and then he has a terrible shooting
night and you want.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
To pooh pull it. Same thing with your door.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Had he had a bad night, people would be it's
his first game. What do you expect he had natty
rept with do you know? And they would make an
excuse and my point, I'm with you, But I do though, Sean,
I think he's gonna wind up getting cut by the
Browns because they can't take four quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
I don't see how you feel it carry.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I don't know how you do this for three hours.
I've ever heard ron It's like he's not getting cut.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Okay, see what he means, he's not getting cut.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
How said the same thing I said, go to get cut?
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Wow, he very well. Maybe the best quarterback on the
Cleveland Browns rock. I'm not even arguing people that feel
like that. I'm simply telling them let the process play out.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
Sean.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Here's where I disagree with you, and you play quarterback
in the NFL. I'm gonna disagree because the coaches.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
No just hear me out, hit me out. And I've
always said.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
I brought it up earlier about Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson.
Matt Flynn had every reason to be the starting quarterback
for Seattle. They gave him a huge bag, they signed them.
He had just set the record for touchdowns with the
Green Bay Package of all quarterbacks in the history of
that organization. And they were looking for a quarterback and
they got them. Russell Wilson showed up and they didn't hesitate.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
And my other point about your door is about Tom Brady,
his mentor, who could have easily drafted him right. Tom
Brady was a six round pick, so we know it
ain't about where you get drafted. Tom Brady works out
with the kid knows, the kid knows his DNA knows,
his dad knows what kind of pre he puts in
an energy And if he really wanted to, Tom Brady
(27:03):
could have told the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Take that kid, and he did not. That's what makes
me question where sh dorm is. That's all.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
So, so here's my inside evaluate quarterback. I don't need
anybody else's validation, perspective, or opinion to go at what
I see. So Dort standards is a good quarterback. But
what has happened is because his brand has outgrown his
own field production, he's become very polarizing. The people that
(27:37):
are in his corner are so delusional that you get
tired of hearing them, and the the people that are
against them is not because of anything factual on the field.
It's easy to dislike. If you knew should Door, I
would pick up the phone right now and say, dude,
just play football.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
That's what I said.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Cut out all the other stuff, all the showing up
with your own crew of guys and the legendary chain
and you run for a first down and you're looking
at your Automa PA on your rip. Just play football.
All that other stuff will come.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
That's why team that's why teams passed on him, because
if he's not a franchise quarterback, they don't want to
deal with that. And we brought up Tim Tebow, we
brought up Kaepernick. After everything, nobody wants a distraction as
a backup quarterbacks a backup.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
There's so much power in words, and you have to
really watch Rob because what Rob will do if you
say something and he agrees with it, he'll try.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
To Sean, Hey, I hear you something, I'm gonna switch
it up a little bit because that that topic is
obviously a polarizing one and a big one right now.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
But there's another one right now.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
The Athletic came out with a list of their quarterback tiers,
and obviously, you know the top four that we always
kind of going to season saying Mahomes borough Alan Jackson
being you know, tier one, But in this list they
had Patrick Mahomes unanimously number one, and I disagree with
that part of it.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
So tell me about what you think about that list, Sean.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I think it's six and one here and half a
dozen in the other. I mean, he's the most accomplished
current starring quarterback.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
It's not a lifetime achievement award.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
It's supposed to be about this year, you know, coming
into the year, and that's what it's supposed to be.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
You know, you bring guests on, let them talk. Maybe
what would argue with a person that says that that
in twenty twenty five. I don't think he's the most
talented or the most valuable quarterback, right. I do think
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson just based on pure talent
(29:53):
and how important they are. And if you gave me
any quarterback I could have in the league, it'd be
hard be a real argument about taking those two over Patrick.
But at the end of the day, a down year
for him was losing in the Super Bowl, right, so
he's got that on top of them. It's a very
I think, fluid conversation that changes from week to week.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I just think if you eliminate the names and you
put up the stats and whatnot, there's no way And Sean,
here's the reason why it's a fraudulent list, and he
doesn't deserve to be on the top tier. How do
you go fifteen and two get to the Super Bowl? Right,
and you got no votes, no first place vote for MVP.
That's in a quarterback league. That's impossible to do. But
(30:40):
people watched his body of work and they know that
he didn't play that well, right, And that's my problem.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
So I just don't understand why can't you stay in
the middle sometimes like.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Yeah, no, no, there's no middle.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
It's okay to say two thousand four, Patrick Mahomes was
not one of his elite years individually, but they did
enough to make the super Bowl. Now you can even say,
you know what, he's got to come back out and
reassert his dominant individually, even if the team is successful
or not. That's fair. But to say you don't deserve
(31:17):
to be in the top tier is ludicrous. Rob.
Speaker 5 (31:21):
You heard that, Rob, he said, it's not ludicrous, it's ludicrous.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Sean.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
Sean, I'm with you on that. I just I told him,
I said, it's the only part I have with it
is being unanimous. Obviously he's not that guy right now.
I mean last last year. I mean week to week,
either one of those four can be the top guy.
And so that's kind of where I said.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
So let me put an exclamation point on the Patrick
mahonmes thing. The fact that those other three guys are
in the same conference, and I think only Burrow has
made it to a Super Bowl. Right then broke and
Rams that's a knock against Lamar and Josh.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Is that is this is this guys who made it
to the Super Bowl? Is it based off of that
or based on your numbers and how you played?
Speaker 4 (32:07):
I don't think we know that. It should shouldn't be based.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
On It should be based on the fact that since
Tyreek Hill was taking off of the Chiefs and moved
to Miami, Patrick hadn't been playing with them.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Okay, there we go.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
You can argue that the Ravens and the Bills got
more offensive talent than the Chiefs. Yet some kind of way,
the Chiefs keep ending up in the big game.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Yeah, they're lucky. They've been very lucky.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
What goes back to Mahon's brilliant And.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Now I'm gonna say this last thing you told me.
Can I ever be in the middle? That's for Chrissy
Hin and the pretenders. Oh man, I'm not in the
middle of the road and I never will be.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
Sean King, you hear him saying, he let me, let me.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Say something so because I think this needs to be said.
Shout out to kim Ward. Very rarely do we have
a kid this fought through, what he's fought through, He's
got one of the most amazing stories ever, what it
took for him to get to the University of Miami,
and then the way he handled the process going number
one to Tennessee, the way he's approached being a professional
like he deserves to be more of a topic of
(33:17):
conversation nationally.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Good luck, good luck. You know that's not gonna happen.
It's just not I'm saying no, I'm with you. But
that's not how it goes, and you know how it is.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Start. It starts by intelligent platforms, intelligent guests like myself
continually bringing it up.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
It stays, it stays on the mind of people like
he's doing a hell of a job in Tennessee so far.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
Well, we appreciate you, Sean King, thank you so much.
All right, no doubt Sean King. Of course, we're down
with the King.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
All right.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
The NBA has officially turned into an oldie station. We'll
explain that coming up next. It is the Odd Couple
of metic City. Monday, alex id All is stored up
from last week.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
It sounds man, he is on fire right now.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
I'm just like, Okay, you can fill in for og
straight fire any time you need.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
There you go, all right. It is the odd couple
on a Magic City Monday. You know what you need
to do, stick and stay.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
There's no middle of the road Parker in the USAFA.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
It is the odd couple on a Magic City Monday,
Rob Parker. Kerry Rhoades in for kelvin Washington and uh,
do you have summer plans? Do your summer plans include
a new job? Want to work with an expert in
your local job market to find the right role, just
(34:51):
call your local Express employment professionals go to expresspros dot
com and Express never charges jobs a fee. And now
it's time for the Express Pro of the Week. The
Pro of the Week goes to Jacksonville kicker Cam Little.
(35:12):
He had a seventy yarder and the Jags preseason opener
on Saturday, which would have been an NFL record in
a regular season game. So again, congrats, to Cam Little
who had the big foot that's right, being our express.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Pros pro of the Week and Rob.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
G The NBA announced not the full schedule, right, what
did they announced today?
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Christmas? Over the weekend?
Speaker 6 (35:37):
They announced the opening night and the Christmas Day slate
for the upcoming twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
So wait for the whole regular season schedule to drop soon, right?
Speaker 8 (35:47):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (35:47):
And of course Opening Night, the game everybody's wanting to see.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Not the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
Speaker 6 (35:55):
Instead, the game that's been marketed as the marquee game
on Opening Night is Steph Curry and the Ghosty Warriors
taking on Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Stepher's Lebron.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
That's why I said that the NBA has turned into
an oldies station. What are we doing with the hip
hop station where the young kids show me and Edwards
and then Wimby and all.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
These other guys?
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Right, shouldn't we be going that route? Do we have
to see Steph and Lebron to rerun? We've seen it before.
It's like watching I Love Lucy Again from the fifties.
Can we stop already with Lebron?
Speaker 4 (36:30):
And Steph.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
Well, Rob, see this is this is why I'm going
to come back at you right now, because you and
I both are we are sitcom lovers. Yes, we will
sit back and watch an episode of Martin and laugh
like it's the first time again. So we can still
enjoy the oldies. I think I can agree with you
that it's it's an oldies station and sometimes we want
to put it aside.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
But you do have some good young players now you do.
But Steph and Lebron is still a major draws. Like really,
I can still see why it's being played as.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
A I'm just not feeling why not what's your main
I just don't see like those two teams when I
look at the West, Yes, like seriously, like they're not
in the mix of the top five or six take
both of them. Yes, So it's kind of weird in
that you're doing that, like like we don't want to
(37:20):
see Wimby or ant Man or I'm just saying there's
some other players there that to me, if we want
to get to that next part at next level. That's
all I'm saying that, Like, at some point you can't
keep holding on to day. I'm not saying you know,
you don't want to show Steph or or Lebron, But
I don't know if that's the mark should be the
marquee game. It just feels like it's just too easy
(37:43):
to do going to the old familiar. You're putting on
the same jommies jammis and you're still eating mac and
cheese and chocolate chip cookies and two glass milk squeezing
whatever juice is left out of exactly. You know, I
just think at some point you gotta go, Okay, rob
g are you excited?
Speaker 4 (38:03):
I mean, you're a Laker, Homer, are you are you
that excited? Not really, I was hoping it was gonna
be Luca versus Dallas. There you go on something like that.
Speaker 6 (38:11):
The obvious lean into the future. He didn't even play
on Christmas. They don't play to the playing tournament, which
is crazy. That's that's in the mid season. Excuse me, Yeah,
it's yeah, that's that. That sucks. I'd agree with that.
Speaker 5 (38:24):
I mean, obviously, Stephan, Stephan, you know Lebron, that's fun.
And obviously they played in the Olympics and it was
a great thing. But yeah, there there could be some
better options, for sure, all right, coming up our number three.
This just makes no sense to me.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Stat Padford is a top tier one quarterback. Are we
what are we doing here?
Speaker 4 (38:48):
Talk about living in the past, he's broken down
