numbers and whatnot. I mean just from obviously I was
at the convention, but I did watch the highlights and
watch the game live. I have poise, you know what
I mean. People make it like people are shocked that
he can He played major college football. He can play.
It's just what degree. That's all we're trying to figure out.

It's not whether or not he can am I right,
there's levels to level, but let's be honest, playing the
first preseason game of the NFL, it's just not the
same carry you.

You played preseason games and laid in the game three
of the preseason, which is like to dress and then
opening it did not right?

to come out of that game with your health, you
trying to do anything. It's very vanilla. You're playing against
base defense. Nobody's showing any exotic looks. It would be
the equivalent of a little bit more in ten seven
on seven as far as game plan will go, like,
you're not You're not even done with it. You're not

even done with the install yet. So yeah, it's not sophisticated.
But again he came out like you said, look, pois
look competent. Obviously can make the rolls. But when you
have to really decipher on the fly and have to
make changes and do all these things that a top
level quarterback has to do, We're gonna have to wait
and see what that looks like. Right now isn't the
time to judge that yet. And he didn't change in

the depth chart. He's still fourth, you know, what I mean. Yeah,
so that officially right, like they didn't go.

to be their start, of course, the currently injured Kenny Pickett.

And lest we forget the man taking two rounds ahead
of him, the Van Wilder of college football, Dylan Gabriel,
because he was there for nineteen years. So as much
as we were all excited about how he played. He
played well, hasn't changed much if anything.

And here's what I'm gonna say. Carry what you got
just a total overreaction. And there's too many people who
are fanboys when it comes to should do it, even
people doing our jobs.

Listen, Rob, When I was playing in New York, which
is obviously the worst, the worst place to play. If

everything he can to be the best version of himself.
But again, worry about what you can control. You can't
worry about what people say, what they write. You have
to go out and prove that you can play this
game at the level that you need to play at me.

a depth chart.

Are you after that game. That's not a game that's
gonna move you up anywhere. That game is not gonna
do anything for you.

It gives him confidence that he can go out and
get it done, and I think that's all that matters. Again,
it doesn't matter what we think right now of what
he's doing. If it's coaching staff in the GM and
its offensive coordinator don't think he's at the level that
he needs to be at yet, that game's not gonna
be the game that.

right and your season could go the other way. Say,

I just don't see how you can go with two
newbies in that in the second and third spot unless
and the only way I see shador and I bring
it up all the time was the Russell Wilson thing.
When Matt Flynn got the big deal in Seattle. He
had the big game against the Lion through six touchdowns,
the all time record for a Packers quarterback. And we

know how many great quarterbacks have played for the Packers, right, yes,

he's making it like nobody thinks he can play. And
there's levels to all of this, that's not the issue.
I'm not surprised that that he can play play major

those are two things that are very important. We're analyzing
professional sports. No one's saying Jackson Dark should start for
the Giants, and he played actually better than Sador. No
one's saying Tanel McKee should start for the Eagles. He
had a phenomenal games that'sn't been it balled out. People
are still talking about, oh my god, if Stafford isn't healthy,

what are we gonna do to the Seduer fan base.
There's this thing called process. Let it play out. Here's
what they don't understand. Say, Chadure was the one that
had the sore Himmy and Dylan Gabriel had the game
Shador had, they would be up and off. Shador deserves
a chance to prove what he can do. Right, Well,

what's right for the goose is right for the gander. Right,
those other guys are gonna get their shot. If Shaduor
is anywhere close to being self appointed legendary, that's the
easiest pathway to starting quarterback in the entire league. It'll happen,
but let the process play out. If he played bad,
I wasn't gonna say he sucks. If he paid great,

I wasn't gonna say he should be the starter. Let
the process play out.

But you're right, And here's my issue. And I did
this with Cooper Flag when he had his first game.
Remember he was like three for ninety or whatever from

you can't have it both ways, because if he were
to dropped forty, you would be random raving about how
great he is and then he has a terrible shooting
night and you want.

Matt Flynn had every reason to be the starting quarterback
for Seattle. They gave him a huge bag, they signed them.
He had just set the record for touchdowns with the
Green Bay Package of all quarterbacks in the history of
that organization. And they were looking for a quarterback and
they got them. Russell Wilson showed up and they didn't hesitate.

And my other point about your door is about Tom Brady,
his mentor, who could have easily drafted him right. Tom
Brady was a six round pick, so we know it
ain't about where you get drafted. Tom Brady works out
with the kid knows, the kid knows his DNA knows,
his dad knows what kind of pre he puts in
an energy And if he really wanted to, Tom Brady

could have told the Raiders.

Take that kid, and he did not. That's what makes
me question where sh dorm is. That's all.

So, so here's my inside evaluate quarterback. I don't need
anybody else's validation, perspective, or opinion to go at what
I see. So Dort standards is a good quarterback. But
what has happened is because his brand has outgrown his
own field production, he's become very polarizing. The people that

are in his corner are so delusional that you get
tired of hearing them, and the the people that are
against them is not because of anything factual on the field.
It's easy to dislike. If you knew should Door, I
would pick up the phone right now and say, dude,
just play football.

Cut out all the other stuff, all the showing up
with your own crew of guys and the legendary chain
and you run for a first down and you're looking
at your Automa PA on your rip. Just play football.
All that other stuff will come.

That's why team that's why teams passed on him, because
if he's not a franchise quarterback, they don't want to
deal with that. And we brought up Tim Tebow, we
brought up Kaepernick. After everything, nobody wants a distraction as
a backup quarterbacks a backup.

There's so much power in words, and you have to
really watch Rob because what Rob will do if you
say something and he agrees with it, he'll try.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
To Sean, Hey, I hear you something, I'm gonna switch
it up a little bit because that that topic is
obviously a polarizing one and a big one right now.

But there's another one right now.

The Athletic came out with a list of their quarterback tiers,
and obviously, you know the top four that we always
kind of going to season saying Mahomes borough Alan Jackson
being you know, tier one, But in this list they
had Patrick Mahomes unanimously number one, and I disagree with
that part of it.

So tell me about what you think about that list, Sean.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I think it's six and one here and half a
dozen in the other. I mean, he's the most accomplished
current starring quarterback.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
It's not a lifetime achievement award.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
It's supposed to be about this year, you know, coming
into the year, and that's what it's supposed to be.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
You know, you bring guests on, let them talk. Maybe
what would argue with a person that says that that
in twenty twenty five. I don't think he's the most
talented or the most valuable quarterback, right. I do think
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson just based on pure talent

and how important they are. And if you gave me
any quarterback I could have in the league, it'd be
hard be a real argument about taking those two over Patrick.
But at the end of the day, a down year
for him was losing in the Super Bowl, right, so
he's got that on top of them. It's a very
I think, fluid conversation that changes from week to week.

I just think if you eliminate the names and you
put up the stats and whatnot, there's no way And Sean,
here's the reason why it's a fraudulent list, and he
doesn't deserve to be on the top tier. How do
you go fifteen and two get to the Super Bowl? Right,
and you got no votes, no first place vote for MVP.
That's in a quarterback league. That's impossible to do. But

people watched his body of work and they know that
he didn't play that well, right, And that's my problem.

So I just don't understand why can't you stay in
the middle sometimes like.

It's okay to say two thousand four, Patrick Mahomes was
not one of his elite years individually, but they did
enough to make the super Bowl. Now you can even say,
you know what, he's got to come back out and
reassert his dominant individually, even if the team is successful
or not. That's fair. But to say you don't deserve

to be in the top tier is ludicrous. Rob.

mahonmes thing. The fact that those other three guys are
in the same conference, and I think only Burrow has
made it to a Super Bowl. Right then broke and
Rams that's a knock against Lamar and Josh.

to the Super Bowl? Is it based off of that
or based on your numbers and how you played?

I don't think we know that. It should shouldn't be based.

to Miami, Patrick hadn't been playing with them.

first preseason game of the NFL, it's just not the

trying to do anything. It's very vanilla. You're playing against
base defense. Nobody's showing any exotic looks. It would be

on seven as far as game plan will go, like,
you're not You're not even done with it. You're not

even done with the install yet. So yeah, it's not sophisticated.
But again he came out like you said, look, pois
look competent. Obviously can make the rolls. But when you
have to really decipher on the fly and have to
make changes and do all these things that a top
level quarterback has to do, We're gonna have to wait
and see what that looks like. Right now isn't the
time to judge that yet. And he didn't change in

the depth chart. He's still fourth, you know, what I mean. Yeah,
so that officially right, like they didn't go.

I mean, now you know how this works. He's going
to be their start, of course, the currently injured Kenny Pickett.

And lest we forget the man taking two rounds ahead
of him, the Van Wilder of college football, Dylan Gabriel,
because he was there for nineteen years. So as much
as we were all excited about how he played. He
played well, hasn't changed much if anything.

And here's what I'm gonna say. Carry what you got
just a total overreaction. And there's too many people who
are fanboys when it comes to should do it, even
people doing our jobs.

You can't be that invested like something's wrong if your
dad invested, or you feel hurt because he's not getting
what reps you think he should get, Like like I

for failure. And then he has to say, well clean

tired of hearing that as well, because Tim Tebow faced
the same thing. People don't want that, not when you're

away from the main thing, which is the team and
whoever the number one guy is, because that causes fricking
in the locker room.

that he couldn't be a backup quarterback. Guess he could
have been for years. He could have been a backup quarterback,
but there was too much that had to go with him.
And you don't want a pow wow at his locker

don't understand that. And once they looked at him and

tired of hearing them, and the the people that are
against them is not because of anything factual on the field.
It's easy to dislike. If you knew should Door, I
would pick up the phone right now and say, dude,
just play football.

with your own crew of guys and the legendary chain

that part of it.

So tell me about what you think about that list, Sean.

I think it's six and one here and half a
dozen in the other. I mean, he's the most accomplished
current starring quarterback.

It's not a lifetime achievement award.

It's supposed to be about this year, you know, coming
into the year, and that's what it's supposed to be.

You know, you bring guests on, let them talk. Maybe
what would argue with a person that says that that

talented or the most valuable quarterback, right. I do think
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson just based on pure talent

any quarterback I could have in the league, it'd be
hard be a real argument about taking those two over Patrick.
But at the end of the day, a down year
for him was losing in the Super Bowl, right, so
he's got that on top of them. It's a very

an oldies station. What are we doing with the hip

that it's it's an oldies station and sometimes we want
to put it aside.

I can still see why it's being played as.
