Kneehna keep going. You're gonna get going. We ain't getting
we ain't getting no young girl.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And we'll get to that a little
bit later on. Obviously a lot of people are excited
about that, and contrary to what you might believe, a
lot of shows were talking about it.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
You know, it was a thing.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
So I have compiled the list, oh man, of athletes
and entertainers who are together, and we're gonna do that
next hour. I'm gonna go over that list and the
conversation about him saying, you know, oh man, you know
I was a little distracted. I had a lot going on.
(02:09):
Will he continue to be distracted now? So we'll do
that next hour. Looking forward to that. And also, don't
forget we have Adam Kaplan's gonna be joining us in
a little bit as well in about twenty seven minutes,
talk some more football headlines. Fifty three man cut. The rosters,
I should say, are solidified today. So we'll talk to
Adam Kaplan and just a little bit as well.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
But I want to.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Start with those Dallas Cowboys. I'm Jerry Jones, and I
tell you what I can't front to you, Carrie. I'll
beget my America's team on now. Granted, you know I
got three kids. You know I got seventeen jobs, so
I haven't been able to knock it out in one
take like a lot of people have been able to.
But I'm getting a piece by piece, and I think
(02:54):
a couple of things is happening right now.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
And it also ties to Michael Parsons. Like to hear
it go.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I believe Jerry Jones is going down a Roy Jones Jr.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Y'all must have forgot.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
I was just about to say, y'all must have forgot
he's going through the y'all must have forgot.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Y'all talking reckless. You know I love my band, Steven A.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Smith, I love him, but dagget y'all talking reckless about
these boys.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
We got three rings under my ownership.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
We are worth some say anywhere from twelve to thirteen
billion dollars, the.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Number one of the team in the NFL when they're
talking about.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
What the team would be worth with the most talked
about because guess who carrying Calvin about to talk about
them boys?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
How about them? Cowboy about?
Speaker 1 (03:40):
So?
Speaker 3 (03:41):
I think he's on a y'all must have forgot to
it right now.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
He's got the documentary dropping, he's on radio every day,
he's doing podcasts every day.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
He then sat down with Steven A. Smith a million times, and.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
He's doing all that along with Michael Parsons, who's regular
and routinely talking. Now, let me also say this, I
think what we're looking at with Jerry Jones in the
Michael Parson situation.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Is a rollout.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
You know how when people drop an album, they do
a rollout. Yes, the Clips just dropped arguably hip hop
album of the year.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
They did a rollout.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
They hit this show, they did NPR tiny desk, they
hit this podcast. They pulled up on that antheliet. They
might have pulled up on some sports shows. They pulled
up everywhere. It's called a rollout. You might even do
a stunt, Brian, you might pull a whatever we can't
tell is this real or is this fake. It's called
a rollout because we're getting ready to drop this album
on you. Jerry Jones is in full rollout mode and
(04:39):
Michael Parson's oop.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Sorry, you're caught up in the rollout. He's dropping. He dropped.
He knew he had this.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Massive Netflix documentary coming, he knew he had his best
player in a contract dispute. Mind you, it is the
best player on the scene who has been very vocal
that I want to be here, who has been very
vocal I want to be a.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Cowboy for.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
You know that two years ago they come to you
and say, hey, Dad, it's Steven here. We can trade
this young player and get a whohole bunch of assets.
He said, Now, we're not gonna trade our best player,
We're gonna keep them.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Well, now you kept him, didn't sign up.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
And all of this is the rollout because everybody's talking
about it. You got the documentary. They're talking about. They're
talking about what are the Cowboys gonna do this season?
They talked about they got a new coach, they talked
about all these things happening.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
And I believe Michael Parsons is caught up in a rollout.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
We'll ultimately Jerry is gonna come to him and be like,
my bad for talking about we had some back room
smoky Las Vegas casino deal without your agent, because we
know that's illegal, you know the CBA. Yes, And also
my bad for saying you missed six games when you
only miss four, so I'm making it look like you're
injury prone. And my bad for saying, you know you
can get hit by train. What are we talking about, Jerry?
(05:54):
And I believe all of this is the rollout for
the mister Marketer himself for miss her, you know, circus
ring leader himself, and Micah got caught up in it,
and he's gonna double back at the end and be like,
wap it up, my bad, here's the contract, here's the money,
because this is what he does with Emmett, this is
what he does with Michael Irvin and CD and Dak
(06:17):
and de Marcus Lawrence, right, and he's gonna do it
with Micah. But he's gonna use this until it's all gone,
until the last second, the twelfth hour, and sign the deal.
And this will be a death roll sug night roll
out for an album. This is the fifty cent rollout.
This is I got shot five times, I'm signing the
M and M. I got beef with John Rule. I'm
(06:38):
doing all this, I got abs. I'm showing I ain't
put on a shirt in two years. Get Richard not trying,
and Michael's trying to get rich without without dying in
this case, and the man who is rich is gonna
give him his money.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
All right, I'm done. That's my This is a rollout.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Man, that's a dissertation. And you know what's crazy about
it is you're yeah, you're probably right. I mean, because
there's there's no way that he kept him up until
this point and had no plans of signing him and
getting him what he wants right like, he's not going anywhere.
And so this whole all the Shenanigans, all the stuff
that's going on, I mean, you talk, you said Jerry's
(07:14):
side already, but then you have Micah as well laying
down before the game, taking a nap, Like all these
things are just building, building, building, adding to the fire
of the thing you just said. There's no way they're
letting them go. They're not trading them, they're not going
to get the players. They need, they're not going to
get the picks they need for that type of player. So,
I mean, I just saw a report that said Micah's
(07:35):
already getting ready, you know, for the rollout, to get
ready to roll out for the season and get ready
to play. And Schottenheimer's talking to him saying it's gonna
take a little time, but he's gonna be like, I'm
sure this thing is already getting handled, and when the
dust clears, Micah would be if he's not the top
paid non quarterback position player in the league, he's gonna
get it and be close. So all of this is
(07:57):
just preseason fodder, old cowboy fodder. This is what Jerry
Jones has done forever. This isn't something new, This isn't
something that should be taking us for a ride having
a surprise at all. This will be done, and Jerry
Jones is being Jerry Jones. And you gotta work in
that accent a little bit though. You need a little
bit more whiskey to get that Jerry Jones.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
You're right, You're right ahead, real quick. Hell, let me
go on, yeh, let me go get this, let me go,
let me go, let.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Me give another shot at it, right he's almost he's
almost like this. It's almost like a whisper. And it
comes from the giving right there.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, it's from the throat, right, it's from the and
I worked there the deal. So he rode it out
on the knack.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
There it is there, gonna call it's from the throat.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
He talked.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
My favorite waitress came out there. It is napping and
I signed it. I signed the deal and he wanted
to sign it. But Jerry, what about his agent?
Speaker 3 (08:45):
What about his agent? I don't like his agent. I
might be not doing it. So listen, let me tell
you what you're not doing.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
You're not getting rid of a guy who's only been
in the league for a handful of seasons. Five seasons
it is, give or take four seasons. It was fifty
two would have sacks. Let me tell you who we're
not getting rid of. Let me tell you a guy
who missed four games it still had a nerd to
get twelve sacks last year.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Right.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Let me tell you about a guy who's told just
turned twenty six in May has been incredible. I'm not
getting rid of that guy. And mind you, I have
him signed for three years already.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
That's the point.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
And Kevin, we ain't fighting for it.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Will that got you for three years?
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Let me, I'm about to just roll this thing out,
extend this controversy, have some fun with it, and I'm
gonna double back my bad and I'm gonna get you
a nice Lamborghini with it.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
At taboo, Kevin.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
That's the thing though, And I tell the part about
all these deals in the NFL guys right now.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Obviously it's changed from when.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I played, but they have to feel that they can
NBA this thing. It's not the same, like, there's no like.
That's that's the part I think that we're missing in
this whole thing. And I think when we talk about it,
I'm saying we were the media.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
We talk about it right. It's good for it's good
for what we do.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
It's good for business right to have these conversations and
have these type of things happen. But these NFL players
don't have as much leverage as they think they do
when they come out and want to demand trades and
say they want to get paid to hold out. Like
we've seen people hold out and their careers never be
the same after that. And so this is a game
where you have to play constantly. You have to put
(10:18):
in the reps. You can't take years off. We saw
Le'Veon Bell do that with the Steelers, right, yeah, yeah,
never the same like We've seen it happen multiple times.
And so the leverage part of this thing when it
comes to these guys, they have to understand. Even Trey Hendrickson, right,
he didn't get what he wanted. He held out the
whole time. We will give you thirty million, but not
for four years. We will give you thirty million, but
this one year, which is a totally dita.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
I got mad at him. You on the show yesterday,
me and he from talked about it. I got mad
at him in that, and I did it in real
time a few weeks ago when he oh, man, I
just I hate that them holding out and I'm being
a bad representation for the young guys and a bad example.
No you're not, No, you're not. You had seventeen and
a half sex. You've had more than I think fourteen
for three years in a row, been one of the
(11:00):
best defenders. And two other guys run your same age
and in some cases older than you.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Got paid and TJ.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Watt and Miles Garrett and your division Why is it
a bad thing that you're standing on business saying I
want to get paid. Why is it that you in
that league where we know nothing's guaranteed, in the league
where you can get beat up, bruised up and done
out the blue your career ended. You absolutely should get
what you deserve. Absolutely should get your worth. So the idea,
(11:29):
oh man, I feel better now you're showing these young people.
Hey man, when you've put in the work, the blood,
sweat and tears, and you have equity, you go asking
demand for what your what's your worth? And that that
team has the right to say no, they have the right,
but you absolutely have the right and earn the right
to stand on business. So I was like, come on, Tray, Trey,
you acted like training boys in the hood right now.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
No, do let me out, No go, we're going to do.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
This this this signing drive by here.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
He ain't about to get this signing, man, Let's try
you out of there. Man, Trey was about to get
some trouble. Man, let's track out.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Okay in the real boys and hoods, and Tray got out.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Let him let him in this.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Tree and instance stay in the car while we do
this re sign me drive by real quick. Uh but yeah,
so that's it's just Jerry Joe. I just thought about it.
I'm like, man, this is a full on roll out.
I got the show, I got the biggest story in
the off season, I got everybody looking at me. I
got rolled you know, Steven A. Smith doing a debut
of his new media company and the interview with me
(12:26):
and all this, it's just this is all great for him,
and he's been telling us the whole time we've known it.
Then we get to see it firsthand with the And
my whole point was too, I didn't really touch on this.
What the the y'all must have forgotten? Yeah, I do
think he's telling a young group of cowboy fans. Hey,
I know you're twenty six, twenty eight, thirty even, and
(12:48):
you were only you know, you were literally not even born.
You're an infant the last time we're in the NFC
Championship game. But let me tell you, this team, this
organization did win a lot dick eight stars. Look at
all this stuff we had. So I think that was
a part of it too, was to say not only
just the currently what we're gonna do blah blah. Also
(13:08):
don't forget what your boy did. Y'all must have forgotten too,
y'all young cowboy fans, fret not.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
I've done it before. I'm gonna do it again, even though.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
He hasn't done it right and cal look at this though.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
This is another thing that kind of gets lost in
translation when you talk about Jerry Jones in the beginning,
when he was having these situations pop up and having
to play play players, pay players. He's a self made
He's a self made money man, right, so that money
he didn't.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Have it, like he had to go get it. He did,
but now it's a little different, right he has it now.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
And the fact that you just said, y'all must have
forgotten he had to take him back to that like.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
It screams that for real, like it really does.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
That was a good That was a good take by you.
I like all must have forgot.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Roy Jones said, so well, defensively see Max from the
body he in the Championship.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Rounds Roy Jones and cracking me up.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
No matter what you ask him, he's gonna start with defensively.
What do you think he needs to do well? Defensively?
Speaker 5 (14:03):
Oh that's how you pronounced it too, Huh.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, well defensively, he gonna start with some of that.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
All right, somebody finally got paid, and I think the
team felt like they may have overpaid, but they had
to do it for someone else.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
I'll explain. It's the ot Couple.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Fox Sports Radio. It is the Akabu kelvin Washington.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
My man Carrie Rose, who's in for Rob Parker on
this trash Talk and Tuesday. Carrie that's coming up in
about twenty three minutes. More so, looking forward to seeing
what you guys have to say with that. For over
forty years, Tyrek has been helping customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive shit fast
and for back by Free Road has a protection with
(16:02):
convenient insulation options like the mobile tire installation tyrag dot com.
The way tire bind should be. We got the music
going in the background. What's up with you man? When
the album dropping. What where's the latest with that? Oh man,
it's it should be out in two weeks. The first
single will be Hush, and then there will be another
follow up one.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Boom boom boom, tall lad, I got.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
To know you and you heard Hush, so yeah, that's
it's It's gonna be all right. I'm just does.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Miss Mary Mack have any of your tracks?
Speaker 5 (16:30):
I think Mary happen to one? You got one of them?
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Right? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Yeah, Mary has right Mary, Mary is actually a part
of one as well.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
I'm your headphones are breaking up? What that you haven't
heard yet?
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Yeah, she's doing some little some stuff, some stuff on
that track for me, I can't say too much yet,
but it's it's a it's a banger too, So.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
So what you're telling me is Mary, Miss Mary is
but your boy. You hear these barrits, So you know
what I did?
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Hear it. I heard a song that you and Rob
did and it was awful. So first of all, no, no, no,
I'm just saying that's all I heard, though, you.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Will you heard Anne, Robin? You know the vocals wasn't
really there. Just let me spend if spit a few
bars on it. Let me get a few more questions,
No questions, all right. So somebody who was excited, I'll
tell you what and might be hanging out at the
bar and saying all drakes on me is Terry mcclaurin,
who is now ninety six million dollar man. Obviously, you
(17:23):
know it breaks down to what's guaranteed. But he's got
a three year contract extension worth heavy on the up,
worth up to ninety six million.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
That's gonna end this holdout for him.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
He can finally get back in and get back to
business as they get ready for their regular season opener
against the division no rival in the Giants. So that's
gonna make him carry the sixth highest paid receiver with
an annual average value at around thirty dollars for him,
he already has a thirty million dollar bonus as well.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
But I want to go with this is where I'm
looking at this.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, he's gonna put him right around thirty two million
a year, tied with AJ Browne. And I think that's
apropost but also generous. And here's what I mean by that.
When you look at the history of receivers who have
done big things after thirty there's not that that many,
(18:14):
you know, yeah, and not that he won't be I
expecting to be really good. I expect him to be successful.
So it's not a matter of all of a sudden he's
gonna fall off the cliff. But having to make a
long term investment is more of what I'm referring to,
you know, having to do a crazy deal. So guys
like this, look, Tyreek Hill signed a three year deal
ninety million dollars he renegotiated with the Dolphins, and when
(18:34):
he was thirty he had fifty four of that guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
DeVante Adams, we know he just got that deal.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
He got his when he was at the age of thirty,
that two year, forty four million dollars deal.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Annual average around twenty two million.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
So when you start to look at Mike Evans got
a two year extension in last year when he was
thirty one, twenty twenty million dollars there. So he's above
kind of some of these other guys. And he's been
really good. But when you look at his numbers, he
had been insanely good as you would think. He's been
great for the team, really good in that system, but
(19:08):
the numbers aren't astounding. But why the commanders had to
get this done, because it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
About him, about the kid.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
It was we got Terry, we got you, Terry, we
got Deebo Samuels, and we got this young quarterback who
was about to be the future for us and the
present and the future. Yes, and Jaden Daniels, and this
was about keeping him comfortable, keeping him having his number
one targeted, number one weapon, and again bringing in more
weapons like a Deebo Samuel and hoping that they can
(19:36):
replicate the success they had last season and maybe even
try to have some more. I know they're gonna run
the ball more, I expect with Jaden because I think
they're gonna say, hey, we're looking at teams that have
had some success with Lamar Jackson, with Josh Allen. When
you have somebody who's that talented, stop trying to, you know,
put it in a box. And I think they're gonna
really utilize him to the best of their ability in
all facets of the game. So having his number one
(19:58):
receiver was necessary, even to the tune of reality probably
overpaid him a little bit for a thirty zerod receiver
who has been really good and productive, but not to
that top tier level. Yeah, and I think they said
we have to do it because the Iron.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
We got to strike now, right.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
We can't just let the Eagles run away with this
division and have it on lock forever. Cowboys are out
of it, is they maybe they'll be a little bit better.
Giants look like there could be a lot better. We
got to strike now for the next two to three
years while we have a special quarterback three you know,
and keeping his weapons around.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
This is all about Jayden Daniels. You hit it.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
They've gotten a glimpse of the future, like you said,
even the present.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Now they know what they have.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
They have a guy that can can go out and
win you games and get you to the playoffs and
hopefully win big games when they matter. We don't you know.
He's won some of those games in the playoffs as well.
So yeah, this is all about him. And I don't
think they actually overpaid for Terry McLaurin, because again, the
NFL is different than any other sport, right, Like you
look at that ninety six all you want, that means nothing.
(20:59):
That's when addressing they really only they really only paid
him one year thirty million dollars. Really, so if you
think of it that way. It's pretty much on par
for what he should be getting. As you know, the
receiver numbers are what they are, and the value is
the value. And so for him one year, thirty million dollars,
that signing bonus is what matters. I think it's a
great deal. They can always rework it after they need to.
(21:21):
I mean, even if he gets, you know, a down
year from what he had last year, still worth paying
him at thirty for this year and making their quarterback
be comfortable having his top weapon. So, yes, it's all
about Jaydon Daniels here, and I don't think they overpaid
for him.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Sometimes you pay for convenience, yes, right, we talked about that. Yeah,
so you know there's things you do, like how much
I'd just rather park my.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Car here exactly?
Speaker 1 (21:47):
You know, Ah, I just much rather eat here. It's
a little nicer, little more elevated food quality. Right, whatever
your thing is, sometimes you have to pay to me.
And then again they did it because they're like, we
got to keep this train rolling and hopefully not only replicate,
maybe increase the productivity that we were able to have
last year.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Right.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
I'm so happy they got it done too, because I
don't want any excuses out of the Commanders this year.
I know they had a great year. They surprised a
lot of people last year. I've been on the record
saying I think they're going to take a step back
this year. Now, that doesn't mean they're not going to
make the playoffs or I don't know about all that,
but it's not going to be as easy. They're not
going to sneak up on teams. Second year quarterback play
from Jaydon Daniels. I'm excited to see what happens. A
(22:28):
lot of times you come in a situation where you
come in as a rookie take the league by storm
because defensive coordinators don't know about you, defenses don't know
about you. They know about him now, and so we're
going to get to see if he's able to get
through that sophomore slump and have another stellar season in Washington.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
All Right, we'll find out as a season rollers a
long Adam kaplan getting ready to join us. We can
ask him the same question as well. On the other
side of trending right now, is Chris you would see
Chris to lead them? Chris burfect? What'd you call him?
Speaker 5 (23:00):
Perfect?
Speaker 7 (23:00):
I'm getting like every NFL.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
Player out here. I got Jacoby Brissett, I got.
Speaker 8 (23:05):
Vontez's perfect, Chris perfect, perfect perfect.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
That's what I said.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
That's right, that's exactly what you said.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Come on, let me say about Mike. Is this thing on?
It's on? Okay, Chris perfect? Please go? Please?
Speaker 5 (23:20):
All right? All right?
Speaker 8 (23:21):
Well going right now? The US open. We'll start there
before everything else. Diaemo Osaka and Coco Goff in action
right now. Both of them have taken their first set
as we start to get into the nighttime hours here
in New York. One of the fun scenes when it's
on dark there. Earlier, aganix Center defeated vit Kolprava, Stefano
Sissypas defeated Alexandra Muller, and Eosiontek defeated Emiana Auranyo in
(23:43):
straight sets. NFL cut Down Day, Dylan Gabriel has being
named the number two Browns quarterback by coach Kevin Stefanski.
Shad Sanders can still dress as an emergency third quarterback
for the team. Eagles linebacker Nacobe Dean posted a on
Instagram saying see y' all week five if it seems
to indicate he'll start the season on the pop list
as he silver recovers from a torn but teller. The
(24:05):
Chargers are moving running back Naji Harris off the non
football injury reserve and to the active roster. He's still
recovering from injury sustained from a fireworks accident back in July.
Saints of name Spencer Rattler as the starting quarterback and
are releasing running back Clyde Edwards. Hilaire Packers are releasing
wide receiver Mikole Hardman and linebacker Isaiah Simmons. Al Cy
(24:27):
Young hopeful Nathan Valde's twenty twenty five season is cut short.
He was diagnosed with a rotator cuff strain and is
being shut down by the Rangers. Currently going on right
now because we have he would kill me if I
didn't mention this. So the Yankees are up three to
one on the Nationals right now, top of the fifth inning.
There you go, Braves with a two one lead in
(24:48):
the Marlins to bottom of the seventh and the Red
Sox with the three to zero lead on the Orioles
bottom of the eighth. Final runners are due up here
soon for the Orioles.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Guys. Back to you all.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Right, appreciate you. Chris.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
It is the acup. I'm covin Washington. He is Carrie
Rhoades and for Rob Parker. Robin joined little vac little
meat time, having a little nice Hawaii vacations A little.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Yeah, a little bit. How to do you do you? Rob? Yes?
Speaker 1 (25:15):
And so hopefully he's enjoyed himself. We're joined now by
our guy, Adam Kaplin, Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider Captain
NFL on ex Adam, what's up, my man?
Speaker 7 (25:22):
How are you guys? Good to talk to you.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
By the way, I heard you.
Speaker 7 (25:25):
I heard you guys talking about Perfect? Right, Vonte's perfect,
believe it or not, is coaching as an analyst at UNLV.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Really?
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Yeah, man, my guy Paul gone through, the former Bengals
defense coordinator. I'm sure Paul had something to do with it.
But Vonte's perfect a defensive analyst at u n l V.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Wow? Is he is he teaching them how to tackle
the right way?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Or I know?
Speaker 3 (25:47):
And you know what's unbelievable, Kurr.
Speaker 7 (25:49):
You know what's unbelievable. I remember calling the league about
because when Perfect was going out of his mind with
the over physical play.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yeah, I just this is.
Speaker 7 (25:58):
I mean, I remember I asked, flat out, how do
you legislate this?
Speaker 3 (26:03):
And you know they.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
Would have talks about, Okay, this is the way, this
is what we're looking for. Yes, he's yes, he's on
our radar to make sure he does things the right way.
It's just you know, this is probably going about eight
years ago. I just remember vontees Burfet was so over
the top with the way that he played. And that
was the Bengals back then. As you know.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yep, hey, Adam, let me let me go here for
a little bit. I'm want to go back to the Browns.
Karry and I've already talked about it, of course, the
door making the fifty three man roster, but you know
we have to talk about this. But I do want
to ask you from a different perspective any way, Quietly,
when the doors are shut and the lights are off
in the facility that Haslam and Sefanski and they're all
(26:45):
maybe just sitting there when no one's looking in and
they're enjoying of this that wind loser draw. We are arguably,
aside from the Cowboys with all the Micah and Jerry stuff,
the most relevant team.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Or is this completely I wish this would go away.
We could just focus on football.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
But is there a way they're kind of Hey, the
Browns are topic that Carrie and Calvin are talking about,
and that Rob and Kelvin are talking about it, and
we're on first Take, We're on this.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Show, We're on that show. Is that a real thing?
All right?
Speaker 7 (27:13):
So let me go back to Johnny Manzil. Okay, when
Johnny Manziel was there, Jimmy Haslm was heavily involved in
who's going to play. He was wrong, He should have
gotten involved. That's why Kyle Shanahan decided to leave. He
actually dictated to Ray Farmer the GM, then hey, let's
get Manziel in the game, and you just you can't
do that. Jimmy was on your point, was so into
(27:36):
the the pr of it in getting Manzil and who,
by the way, was the first round pick, where Shureur
was a fifth. Look, they like it the attention, but
Shudeur is so far away from being ready. I could
tell you I was with the Browns for two days
here in Philly a couple of weeks ago. They know it. Yeah,
he looked okay in the Carolina game. Not quite as
good as the media would think he didn't. He did
(27:57):
some good things, some things he's got to be better. Yep,
he needs time to develop. You can't just cut to
the hype. There's a reason why the guy dropped to
the fifth like thirty two teams, including the Brown Society.
He's not worth drafting the first four rounds. Let's be
real with this one.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
You're one hundred percent right at him. But the thing
about that thing for me is.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
What it's what you just said, Like, it's a preseason
and we're getting so overhyped and so overanalyzed on these
preseason camps that it's.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
Just a player.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
I know it kill it kills me at him, but
we have to talk about it. But I want to
switch I want to switch up a little bit. I
want to talk about Obviously, the Commanders got their guy
Terry finally, you know, yes, finally got his deal done.
I was looking at this deal and I was just
telling Kelvin, you know, the three year ninety six million
people look at that in the life.
Speaker 7 (28:42):
Trust I know that's that's that's what I know. You know, how,
by the way, did you ever have incentives in your contract?
I'm curious.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
No, No, I didn't have any intense no for you.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Yeah, mine was very very clear cut, clear cut, clear cut.
But what I said was this really essentially is a
one year, thirty million dollars deal. Let's can we can
we talk about that little bit and liked in our fans.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
I haven't got the breakdown yet. But like with Trey Henderson,
for example, the Bengals were not going to guarantee any
money or very little in year two, so he signed
a one year deal. They fully guaranteed thirty million with McLaurin.
My understanding was that they liked the Bengals did not
want to guarantee very much money in year two because
Terry turns thirty. By the way, he's no injury history. Yep,
(29:24):
you know, but something seems to happen between thirty and
thirty two with receivers. I've talked to so many veteran receivers.
Usually their legs go like Carl Pikett's, I don't know, Carl
Pickett's retires before you're playing. I got to know I've
forgot no car a little bit. He kind of said
the same thing to me. There becomes an age where
you just can't do what you used to do. And
that Washington was very concerned about that. But I was
(29:46):
with them last thursday, it was my last stop of
my training camp tour. I could have told you about
a thousand dollars they're going to get a deal done.
They weren't really despite what people were reporting, they weren't
far away. They did not find the middle ground.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
It was.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
They were not doing thirty three or thirty two a
million of real money. There's incentives in this contract. It's
going to be less than was reported, but it's fine.
Look he mclaurin's problem was he played with mostly until
until Daniels last year, bad quarterbacks, bad football teams, and
he got knocked for he It unfortunately hurt him. It
(30:18):
hurt him with the new front office who didn't draft him,
but they know it's a super high character guy and
if they didn't do him right, this would have been
a problem. I could tell you in the locker room,
there's no question they would have. They Adam Peters at
GM and Josh Harris, the owner, you're to extend this guy.
It's going to be a problem, and they know they
had to get it done.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
Adam kaplan a with the odd couple, Kelvin Washington. Krry
rolls on his trash talking Tuesday. Uh, let me also
go to a conversation we were having. Uh when it comes
to Micah. Ultimately, this is gonna get done. This is
called it. I called it, Adam. I called it a rollout.
Like we're getting ready to roll out a movie. We're
get ready to roll out of album.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
This is you know, let me meet you.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
It's already for thirty Kelvin, we need a thirty of us.
You have no idea. We could do it short for
thirty minutes. Trust me on this, we could do one.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Listen, Jerry is listening and he's already. I'll tell you what, Adam,
I'm working on it right now.
Speaker 7 (31:08):
And so he's got it's really good.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Wait wait hold him at I had the coach Kelvin
on that game.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Really good. Comes me up a little. I was a
little rosty.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I'm not in studio, so I didn't have my my
I wasn't in the zone.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
And then I got it back there. I had to
put a little more in it there.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
So but it's just just all a rollout. This is
just publicity. I got my New America's team out. I
got this Oops my bad. Mic At the end of
the end of this, sorry, buddy, here's your money, and
then we just get.
Speaker 7 (31:35):
Back to no a little bit. But no, here's what happened.
I really believe talking based on the people I've spoken with,
Jerry thought he could pull fast one on doing the
negotiations with Micah. And you know, Micah put in a
statement you know, as you know that it was never
a deal. Jerry thought there was a deal and he
wanted to stick it to Micah and his agent, David
(31:58):
mullagedto is a really good contract agent, top three, one
of the best, and he wanted to stick it to him.
But what's the point of it. You're only damaging your club.
Let's say he signs by money, which I think is realistic. Yes,
he's been there the whole time. He hasn't practiced yet. Yep,
it's Carrie. Let's answer this question for me. Yeah, how
(32:20):
quickly could you get ready for a game on Thursday?
If you signed by Monday.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
You won't be playing in that game. It just you can't.
I was just telling Kelvin about you.
Speaker 7 (32:29):
Why.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Yeah, because you have to ramp up.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
There's an nutrition that needs to happen for your body
to get ready to play football. And so even like
in the old, the olden days when I played, I
call it olden days now, like your body had to
go through these wars, like it's almost like a war,
a war of attrition, right where your body has to
become callous to all of the contact and all the
running and the cutting that you have to do to
(32:52):
get ready to play a game. And if you're not
doing that for a whole year, like a lah la'bion
Bel did when he held out.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
In Pittsburgh, you're never the same.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
It's hard to do. It's hard.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Good stuff, man. I'm just curious because when Chris Jones,
remember he didn't get his contract until Week one, he
didn't play in that first game. You can't do that's
good stuff. Yeah, I was just curious, how what you
thought about.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
That, Adam.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
I would asking this our guest that we've had over
the last week or so. It was a gear up
and getting closer to the start of the regular season.
We kind of have the top tier teams. We know
what we expect big things from, whether it be the Ravens,
whether it be the.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Chiefs, and so on and so forth.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
It is a team right now, maybe in that second
tier that you look at and you say, don't sleep
on them, or I expect maybe more from them than
some other folks do.
Speaker 7 (33:42):
Oh yeah, Seattle Seahawks. Now they didn't make the playoffs
last year. They were ten and seven, which actually is
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
My headphones were I sound like you said, the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
I couldn't see.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
Yeah, Seattle, I really look, they didn't make it last year.
They were ten and seven, didn't make it. I believe
they're gonna get really good quarterback play from from Sam Darnold,
who came out of nowhere last season becoming actually a
good NFL quarterback. He's going to play in the same scheme.
I believe they're gonna they're going to surprise some people
every year. Guys, you know this, teams come out of nowhere,
(34:12):
like boy, I didn't see that coming. Yep, maybe Denferd.
I know Steve Hartman. Thought I'd give Steve credit. I
didn't see that at all. With Devil last year.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
Yeah, that was it.
Speaker 7 (34:20):
A great calls. It always happened. Seattle will be one again.
They did not make a playoffs last year. I didn't
see Washington last year. Nobody saw that. I love Daniels,
but I didn't think they'd be a playoff team. Now,
before we get out of or heard what you guys
said before I came on, I think Carrie thinks they'll
take a step back. I want to ask carry this question,
Why do you think they'll take a step back?
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Yeah, that last year, the schedule was a little bit easier,
a little bit lighter. This year schedule, schedule will be
a little tougher. They also have that thing where you
have a rookie quarterback that takes the league bust dorm.
You don't have a lot of film on him as
a defensive coordinator. Now you know what he likes to do.
Washington's gonna have to pivot and make some adjustments, and
so I want to see how how they how they
(35:00):
handled that and how he handles it as well, then
how he handles success, because that's the other thing too,
Like once you get some success in the league, to
rest on your laurels is a big thing for some players,
and I want to see how he takes that next step.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
And it happens a lot. Sometimes you don't get a
good enough froster yep and so forth. But get him
mcluy done. When I was with him last Thursday, I
will tell you this, and one of the reasons why
they know they had to get something done. You take
mclarinoff that football team, it's deebo is an older player,
big injury history. I know he's had a great camp,
he looks great, but he's not a true extra shoot.
He's not a guy who's gonna line up with Kerry,
(35:33):
you know. Yeah, you got to reduce him. He can't
really play outside like McLaurin can. Right, they have no
I'm telling you they're not very deep at receiver. That
that's where I thought McLaurin had leverage. I know he
didn't get quite what he wanted. He still did well
in his contract, and I think it's tight if you
look at the odds, I think it's much tighter. And
remember no one is repeating that divisions and so forth,
(35:54):
which is absurd, but it's true.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Right Yeah, And you wonder too with obviously we talked
about the fifty three rosters being trimmed down to that
today there are you know, some receivers out there that
maybe they can go and get and get some depth
to that receiving core. Because again you want to give
Jaden all the opportunities and all the weapons you can
give him as he goes into his sophomore season.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Adam, thank you so much. Man. We appreciate it. Are
sich Adam enjoyed it.
Speaker 7 (36:15):
Thanks guys, You all right?

It's funny you bring that up, Kevin, because I brought
this up. That was the sneakiest little concert ever. I
didn't he and it was my birthday weekend. I absolutely
would have been there, but I didn't even really hear
about it. And the next thing I know is blowing
up my timeline because k Dot Kevin Kendrick.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
I've been banging since it came out, so I was
really upset, and you brought up a great point. I
love this, Carrie, and thank you for the call, Kevin.
The further we get away from like controversy, what people think,
the more we go back to, oh yeah, I really
enjoy somebody like all the jokes Nelly or joh Rule.
Then the further we get away, you realize, man, we
had so much fun with the Nelly and jo Rule era,
(39:19):
like you enjoyed, and everybody went to the concert at
least I seen on my timeline thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
But you know, it is like when the industry says
you're not hot, you're not hot anymore.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
But give it a few years, ten years, five, ten years,
you come back and we like, oh yeah, you know
