of what? What's there? Where are they now?

After that blowout home loss to the Minnisoalt Timbers that
helped ant Man earn our Express Pros Player of the Week. Yes,
Kevin Durant said that they embarrassed themselves and embarrassed the
fans the way they played. It was their eleventh loss
in fourteen games. They're now twenty eight and thirty three
on the season, four games back of Dallas for the
final spot in the Western Conference Playing Tournament.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
They're gonna need a minor miracle just to make the
playing tournament at this point.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Amazing, Kelvin. Let me say a couple things here about
the Phoenix Suns. Okay, First, I'm happy that they're in
the toilet. I'm happy of where they are. And I'm
gonna say this because officially the Big Three is dead,
a thing of the past, right, The Big three. Hey
when they got Durant from the nets. Oh my god, right,

they got Devin Booker, young guy that went and got
Bradley Beal. Hey take him out of that bed Washington spot.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
You got three unbelievable scores. They'll be fine. They got
a chance to make it to the finals and then
all that. Remember all that talk, and now here they
are eleven out of fourteen and mostly healthy.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Right, they're healthy. There's no issue here.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
And I'm saying here that we gotta start with the
Big three. You don't need big, you don't need three.
You need two really good players. You see it in
Boston that can get get it done right with nice,
complimentary players around it. So I think that whole Big
Three era should be put to rest and to bed. Finally,
and this is probably the last one because there was

so much talk about the Phoenix Suns when that trade
was made, and you know, the thoughts are that they
had a shot at winning a title and all that
other stuff, but it didn't work out. But here's the
other part I'll add to that. This one, to me
is more disappointing and a bigger debacle than what happened

in Brooklyn, and I'm gonna tell you why. In Brooklyn,
it was about injuries. Those guys when they played together, Kelvin,
you remember this, they were great. They didn't play that
many games together, all three of them, but they were great.
Sunk the Brooklyn nets is that Kyrie got hurt in

the postseason, Harden kept getting hurt. Kevin Durant warsize sixteen
instead of a fourteen like they were at a shot
to this day, I believe they would have won a
championship had they been healthy and Durant didn't step on
the line on that game winning three in Game seven.
I believe that. But in this case, and Durant was

hurt a little bit. I remember he got hurt a
non contact injury, remember on the layup line or whatever
he was doing around the baskets.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
But their players are healthy.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
The got a young Devin Booker, Bradley Beal's not old like,
they have a good mix of guys.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
They shouldn't be this bad.

Eleven out of fourteen and not even close.

This team is putrid. It stinks well.

So this is an awkward not awkward, but a different
way of explaining it for me, I think the Nett
version was more disappointing, but it wasn't their fault. And mostly,
I mean, obviously it was a crazy world we're in.
You had COVID, so you had Kyrie in his stance,
and specifically in the state of New York where you
know they had especially you know, they were really tight

on it in the beginning. You gotta get vaccinated, you
gotta get this. Kyrie didn't want to get vaccinated. So
that was a whole thing in and of itself. I mean,
there's probably a documentary coming from that, if there's not already.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
So you have that, you have injuries, and so they
only ended.
Speaker 6 (05:29):
Up playing, believe it or not, sixteenth games together, which
is crazy.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And they were like fourteen and three yards. Yeah, we
like that.
Speaker 6 (05:40):
And you thought, oh, we're getting ready to see and
they were still you know, still the prime of Heart
and still the prime of KD. So you thought and
obviously the prime of Kyrie. So you thought, oh man,
this is about to be crazy. And you could argue
this might have been the most talented Big Three ever,
just pure talent. We didn't know the results, we didn't
know what was going to happen. We don't know about Champion,
but just if I said these guys in their primes,

you could argue that was the most talented, one of
the most talented big threes. So that ended up for
me being disappointing, and that we never got to see
it mature because of all the reasons COVID injury, suspensions
and all of that stuff. So that was more disappointing
for me using the term disappointing. But again, it wasn't
their fault, and part of the reason why it's more
disappointing because I didn't have the biggest expectations for the Suns,

not that I thought they would be this bad.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
They're future, They're horrible, They're embarrassing.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
As Kate even admitted, that was not I didn't think
they would be this bad. But I thought, and I've
said this from day one, I looked at that team
and said, well, who's passing the ball? Okay, okay, okay,
I get I get it, who's distributing, who's locking down?
Who can say tonight, I'm gonna go do another thing.
And that's usually what you have to have when you

have a big three, right you have to have Chris
Bosh who can get you twenty five to thirty any night.
Say you know what, I'm gonna get you sixteen eighteen
a night. But I'm cleaning up every rebound, right, I'm
gonna go get you twelve ten, fifteen rebounds.

I'm blocking shots.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
We didn't even know Chris Bosh was that good of
a defender until he got to Miami because he realized
that's gonna have to be my role. Right, you have
nice wherede Wade says, I'm locking up on the wings
and I'm gonna score, win a fast break when I
need to whatever. But Lebron's gonna run this tack. They
didn't have that from the jump. To me, I looked
at them and said, they all guys who need the
ball to score and can't lie. It's not like they're

gonna do other things. They're not grabbing all the rebound,
they're not blocking shots, they're not lockeddown the fenders.

They're capable defenders. But you get what I mean.

And so to me, when you put it all together
and what you had to give up to make it happen,
I'm like, Uh, this roster is flawed.

It's flawed. I don't like it.

And so I guess for me, disappointment not by their fault,
was for of the net to me because I wanted
to see, WHOA, this is a crazy three?

What would this be like? And then the world shut
down and chaos ensued?

Phoenix, I never liked it from the jump, and I
think it's just a larger reflection what I thought would happen.

I didn't think it would be this bad.

But this is disappointing because you thought by now they
could figure something out.

But eleven out of fourteen low, That's that's not that's
not even close. Forget about aspirations of winning anything, like,
there's no way with that talent, those three guys that
you look, the NBA is filled with bad teams.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Yeah, all over the place, and you bet on them
all the time.
Speaker 6 (08:22):
Yes, the Wizards, but there's but there's a lot of
bad teams.

Kevin Durant on the team that's lost eleven out of fourteen,
and you know what I'm saying, Like, seriously, Devin Booker,
who people were talking about when they went to the finals.

Started this season I believe eight and one. Do you
remember the start? Yeah, Oh, finally it's gonna click. Finally
they got all that. Everything's going right. We're gonna see
what happens. That's why I'm saying it's bigger. It's a
bigger disappointment. We didn't get to see the nets. Guys
didn't get to play, So you can't really be disappointing.

I mean, I know what you mean that that it
never materialized, But it wasn't like they played and they
were disappointing.

That's played disappointment for me.

It was disappointment, like, oh man, I never got to
see It's like if you were excited about some big
concert and it got rained out or shut out, and
you're like, man, I'm.

we got rob exactly.

And that's to me how I felt again with the Nets.
That's so I said.

It wasn't their fault injuries, COVID suspensions, but I felt
like that team because you have James Hardkin, one of
the best distributors of his era. He can go on
pure passing mode like he's been doing even with the
Clippers this year. He can lead the league and assists.
Kyrie can assists a score KD at that point, straight
up score like they had the makings to be like, oh,

they can do different things. You had levels like Kyrie
doesn't like to necessarily he shoot streets, but doesn't like to.

He wants to get in the paint.

He wants to get in the mid range, right, So
HOWRD you can shoot the threes KD can shoot. I
mean that that team had me like, oh shoot, this
could be scary. So that's why I said it's disappointing,
not in the same under it of the Suns. That
was that what I never got to see happen. There
was a supergroup that I was supposed to happen Rob
and Rob g as well and Mary.

There was supposed to be a super rap group jah

recently last couple weeks. That was supposed to happen, and
then they all obviously start blowing up and it just

get back to it, and it never happened.

That to me is how it felt.

I was about to get a group with Ja Rul
DMX and jay Z and their peak that was about
to be crazy.

That was the nets for me.

So disappointing the Suns is just utterly discussed, because there's
no way you should be this bad. Maybe you're not
top sixteen, you're still fighting for playing and.

The West is very loaded, so I could say you're one.

Of two games from jumping all the way up to
the fourth or fifth because they're that crowded, you know,
six seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. This is just trash man,
how bad they're playing, and they try to get rid
of KD now he's back.

It just makes it awkward. They gotta blow this whole.

star in his prime Alai Jokic right where he's.

have a Jamal Murray, who especially you know, comes alive
in the postseason kind of sleep not good but not

Laker jersey in front of him. And then you have
a well crafted team around those two guys.

The way I look at it, like I was like

the that you don't need a big three anymore because

a shooting guard, combo guard. But you're like, man, he

out one like Mike Conley finally got like year twelve
or thirteen. But yeah, you look at I think having
a really really really good two Ala Lebron and ad

Ala Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, you know, and then
you can build around that. To me, it's all about
a well crafted team, a team that has guys who.

You're a defender, that's all you do. You're three and
d or you're just nothing but a rim protector. You
you hit big threes.

he was with the Nuggets. You know, I look at
guys like you know, if you take a Drew Holliday
with the Celtics for another team, he's probably the main
focal point in all.

But on this when they really what they needed was
control the temple, play good d that's what the Celtics need.

who know their role and UH, and I think that's
what the Suns underestimate. They just thought, we got Bill

to thirty, and then Derrick Booker's twenty five to thirties,
and we should win. Like, well, who's playing d who's

locking up, who's getting rebounds, who's setting the tempo, who
controlling the temple?

And they got rid of anybody who could have been
a contributor in the other.

average of eight point six and the increase is due
to quote, ongoing investments in the team and fan engagement.

about getting your money back.

say they're winning the championship, but just what are your analysis.

half months.

I think they've been playing really good basketball. I wouldn't
say two and a half months of yeah, that's so far,
that's not two and a great basketball. I will say
the last eight games they've been playing really good, especially
when they got the tray for Luca. They've been playing well.
The one thing that I can also say to that
they did lose to the Charlotte Hornets. They did lose

to the Utah Jazz. Okay, so let's not forget that
they lost to those two teams. Now, if they lost
to teams that are upper echelon, teams that are in
the playoffs, that are rocking and rolling, then I could say, hey,
you know what, this team is real. They took care
of business against the weak teams, but they lost the
two weeks. So it shows thinking their armor and me

being a Celtic, you know, I already know how I
feel about the Lakers. There is no way that I'm
going to say anything positive about them, except that I
can say this that they are playing good basketball. You know,
I would say that about they are playing good basketball,
but when it comes to playoff time and it comes
into playing every other game every other day, excuse me,

and then that floor shrinks. I believe that right now
they're able to get away with teams not picking on
Luca the way that they're going to that you can
pick on Luca, and I'm not going to reveal secrets
on how you do that. But I also feel like
the NBA is trying to set it up to be
a Lakers Celtics Lakers Finals, and I mean that would

be I mean that would be epic. It'd be great
for ratings and things like that, and I wouldn't mind
it because I know how we would run through them.

back end role players that are able to come in

in a position to be those guys. I don't know

what it's like to be those guys. I don't know
the weight that it carries to be those guys. I
know the weight that I had to carry and what
I had to do every single night to survive in
this league, to be able to be on championship team,
championship level teams and make sure that I was doing
my job night in and night out. I just don't
think that they're getting enough night in and night out

help from all of the role players. I thought that
Tyas Jones when they got him, I thought that was
gonna be able to alleviate some of Devin Bookers on
the ball having to do everything picking roll wise and
could catch the ball with a live dribble and things
like that. I don't know if it's internally, if the players.

I'm not sure if the players don't like each other
number one or on number two. They're just not filling
the coach and you can't keep recycling coaches. I think
it's time for probably to blow that thing up. Kevin Durant,
obviously they were trying to trade him. We already know
he's out the door of this offseason. Devin Booker, with

a career in front of him, he might be wanting
to look to say, hey, I need to get up
out of here too. I could go somewhere else and
play as well, and then Bradley Beal will be there
and it will be Bradley Bill's team, and then we
rebuild and they'll be Washington DC. It'll be the Washington
Wizards all over again.

why won't they go out and make a real bid

the guy. Mitchell Trubuski, they get him Trubuski and they
get him from the Bears.

they able to get Justin Fields.

interested and they actually have mutual uh feelings towards each
other between Fields and his team and then the Steelers

in the organization.

So you start to say, okay.

While we're back to square one where we won last year,
where he was four and two, ten touchdowns, one interception,
one fumble, they were moving the ball a bit.

They wasn't prolific.

I'm not gonna see the back like they were, you know,
the twenty twenty Chiefs or anything. But to me, it's
an organizational thing that they're struggling to have offense in
a big explosive offenses period, whether it be with Justin Fields,
whether it be with Russell Wilson, whether it be with
mitchter Chrubuski. So there's something there within the organization where
they struggle to have massive offensive outputs. But to me,
(36:32):
I want to go one more time with Justin Fields.
Also still seeing what's out there that maybe sign a veteran.

I just I want to see think Justin Fields, I've
been there, I hear you. I just think, here's my issue.

I feel I know they don't because because they would
have and you know this, when they were won four

After that blowout home loss to the Minnisoalt Timbers that
helped ant Man earn our Express Pros Player of the Week. Yes,
Kevin Durant said that they embarrassed themselves and embarrassed the
fans the way they played. It was their eleventh loss
in fourteen games. They're now twenty eight and thirty three
on the season, four games back of Dallas for the
final spot in the Western Conference Playing Tournament.

They're gonna need a minor miracle just to make the
playing tournament at this point.

Amazing, Kelvin. Let me say a couple things here about
the Phoenix Suns. Okay, First, I'm happy that they're in
the toilet. I'm happy of where they are. And I'm
gonna say this because officially the Big Three is dead,
a thing of the past, right, The Big three. Hey
when they got Durant from the nets. Oh my god, right,

they got Devin Booker, young guy that went and got
Bradley Beal. Hey take him out of that bed Washington spot.

You know what I mean.

You got three unbelievable scores. They'll be fine. They got
a chance to make it to the finals and then
all that. Remember all that talk, and now here they
are eleven out of fourteen and mostly healthy.

Right, they're healthy. There's no issue here.

And I'm saying here that we gotta start with the
Big three. You don't need big, you don't need three.
You need two really good players. You see it in
Boston that can get get it done right with nice,
complimentary players around it. So I think that whole Big
Three era should be put to rest and to bed. Finally,
and this is probably the last one because there was

so much talk about the Phoenix Suns when that trade
was made, and you know, the thoughts are that they
had a shot at winning a title and all that
other stuff, but it didn't work out. But here's the
other part I'll add to that. This one, to me
is more disappointing and a bigger debacle than what happened
(03:43):
in Brooklyn, and I'm gonna tell you why. In Brooklyn,
it was about injuries. Those guys when they played together, Kelvin,
you remember this, they were great. They didn't play that
many games together, all three of them, but they were great.
Sunk the Brooklyn nets is that Kyrie got hurt in
(04:05):
the postseason, Harden kept getting hurt. Kevin Durant warsize sixteen
instead of a fourteen like they were at a shot
to this day, I believe they would have won a
championship had they been healthy and Durant didn't step on
the line on that game winning three in Game seven.
I believe that. But in this case, and Durant was
(04:27):
hurt a little bit. I remember he got hurt a
non contact injury, remember on the layup line or whatever
he was doing around the baskets.

But their players are healthy.

The got a young Devin Booker, Bradley Beal's not old like,
they have a good mix of guys.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
They shouldn't be this bad.

Eleven out of fourteen and not even close.

This team is putrid. It stinks well.

So this is an awkward not awkward, but a different
way of explaining it for me, I think the Nett
version was more disappointing, but it wasn't their fault. And mostly,
I mean, obviously it was a crazy world we're in.
You had COVID, so you had Kyrie in his stance,
and specifically in the state of New York where you
know they had especially you know, they were really tight

on it in the beginning. You gotta get vaccinated, you
gotta get this. Kyrie didn't want to get vaccinated. So
that was a whole thing in and of itself. I mean,
there's probably a documentary coming from that, if there's not already.

So you have that, you have injuries, and so they
only ended.
Speaker 6 (05:29):
Up playing, believe it or not, sixteenth games together, which
is crazy.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And they were like fourteen and three yards. Yeah, we
like that.
Speaker 6 (05:40):
And you thought, oh, we're getting ready to see and
they were still you know, still the prime of Heart
and still the prime of KD. So you thought and
obviously the prime of Kyrie. So you thought, oh man,
this is about to be crazy. And you could argue
this might have been the most talented Big Three ever,
just pure talent. We didn't know the results, we didn't
know what was going to happen. We don't know about Champion,
but just if I said these guys in their primes,

you could argue that was the most talented, one of
the most talented big threes. So that ended up for
me being disappointing, and that we never got to see
it mature because of all the reasons COVID injury, suspensions
and all of that stuff. So that was more disappointing
for me using the term disappointing. But again, it wasn't
their fault, and part of the reason why it's more
disappointing because I didn't have the biggest expectations for the Suns,
(06:27):
not that I thought they would be this bad.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
They're future, They're horrible, They're embarrassing.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
As Kate even admitted, that was not I didn't think
they would be this bad. But I thought, and I've
said this from day one, I looked at that team
and said, well, who's passing the ball? Okay, okay, okay,
I get I get it, who's distributing, who's locking down?
Who can say tonight, I'm gonna go do another thing.
And that's usually what you have to have when you

have a big three, right you have to have Chris
Bosh who can get you twenty five to thirty any night.
Say you know what, I'm gonna get you sixteen eighteen
a night. But I'm cleaning up every rebound, right, I'm
gonna go get you twelve ten, fifteen rebounds.

they did lose to the Charlotte Hornets. They did lose

they lost to those two teams. Now, if they lost
to teams that are upper echelon, teams that are in
the playoffs, that are rocking and rolling, then I could say, hey,
you know what, this team is real. They took care
of business against the weak teams, but they lost the
two weeks. So it shows thinking their armor and me

being a Celtic, you know, I already know how I
feel about the Lakers. There is no way that I'm
going to say anything positive about them, except that I
can say this that they are playing good basketball. You know,
I would say that about they are playing good basketball,

they're able to get away with teams not picking on

role players aren't making a name for themselves. They're not

you have a top heavy team, you got to have
back end role players that are able to come in

in a position to be those guys. I don't know

what it's like to be those guys. I don't know
the weight that it carries to be those guys. I
know the weight that I had to carry and what
I had to do every single night to survive in
this league, to be able to be on championship team,
championship level teams and make sure that I was doing
my job night in and night out. I just don't
think that they're getting enough night in and night out

help from all of the role players. I thought that
Tyas Jones when they got him, I thought that was
gonna be able to alleviate some of Devin Bookers on
the ball having to do everything picking roll wise and
could catch the ball with a live dribble and things
like that. I don't know if it's internally, if the players.

I'm not sure if the players don't like each other
number one or on number two. They're just not filling
the coach and you can't keep recycling coaches. I think
it's time for probably to blow that thing up. Kevin Durant,
obviously they were trying to trade him. We already know
he's out the door of this offseason. Devin Booker, with

a career in front of him, he might be wanting
to look to say, hey, I need to get up
out of here too. I could go somewhere else and
play as well, and then Bradley Beal will be there

none that could stick and be their quarterback for years
to come. They've had like a revolving door and most
of them can't throw the football for whatever reason.

Get the idea, you know that they're gonna go back
to the same situation that they had. I just think,
why won't they go out and make a real bid
for a quarterback who's going to be around for five
years or ten? You know what I mean, like make

Mason Rudolph they've had, they had him, say right, you
got and obviously they they held on to Ben Roethlisberger
too long, you know what I mean, where it was like,
all right, it's time to move on from there. Then
you just got Canny Pickett they draft him. That wasn't
the guy. Mitchell Trubuski, they get him Trubuski and they
get him from the Bears.

Wasn't the guy? Then they go to the Bears and
they able to get Justin Fields.

fact that I still think he's young enough to see
what I have. And then to me, that's why this
last season would have been valuable. So you could, to
your point move on and say, all right, he ain't it.
But now you're getting these hints that they actually are
interested and they actually have mutual uh feelings towards each
other between Fields and his team and then the Steelers

in the organization.

So you start to say, okay.
Speaker 6 (35:59):
While we're back to square one where we won last year,
where he was four and two, ten touchdowns, one interception,
one fumble, they were moving the ball a bit.

They wasn't prolific.

I'm not gonna see the back like they were, you know,
the twenty twenty Chiefs or anything. But to me, it's
an organizational thing that they're struggling to have offense in
a big explosive offenses period, whether it be with Justin Fields,
whether it be with Russell Wilson, whether it be with
mitchter Chrubuski. So there's something there within the organization where
they struggle to have massive offensive outputs. But to me,
(36:32):
I want to go one more time with Justin Fields.
Also still seeing what's out there that maybe sign a veteran.

I just I want to see think Justin Fields, I've
been there, I hear you. I just think, here's my issue.

I don't love them.

I feel I know they don't because because they would
have and you know this, when they were won four
and oh when he was there or whatever, what.

Was their record was it?

would have stuck with him and they would have just
said he's the future. And for them, the just give
up that easily told me that they weren't in love
with him. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying he
can't play.

But see, I wonder if this is my thing, Rob,
did they not like him as much as that they
just thought, Hey, Russell Wilson's a guy who's a priez
of Super Bowl and you know, a veteran. I think
that played more so than their dislike of Fields
