Let's get this, punies, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It is The Odd Couple. I'm Chris. He's Rob.

Speaker 1 (00:35):

Fox Sports Radio, we got Carrie Kittle's friend of the show,

(00:59):
NBA veteran played in two NBA finals. He will join
us at the bottom of the hour. It'll be good
to talk with Carrie, all right, Rob. We were talking
about the pressure that both teams may be feeling tonight,
the Mavericks and the Timberwolves, and we agree that most

(01:23):
of the pressure is on the Timberwolves because simply put there,
in the do or.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Die situation, the Mavericks have cushion.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Not only one game they can lose, they can lose
another one, right, So yeah, and that maybe that works
against them because you you just have a tendency maybe
to not play with as much urgency.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
As the Mavericks will.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
That's why Rob, you hear NBA players all the time
talk about those close out games are hard, and so
especially I think in a series like this where both
teams are closely matched, very little separates them as far
as level of play. And so, yeah, is gonna have
to override that comfort zone and try to end this

(02:05):
thing tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
But I think there's pressure on another.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Guy, Rob, who is out of the playoffs, and I'm
talking about none other than Joe l Embiid.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Now, people might.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Say, what Joe l Embiid, he lost weeks ago in
the first round. Precisely, that's always the case, either first
or second round.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Joe l Embiid's getting bounced and Rob, I.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Think, let me know if you agree with this. I
think most people would say that the best four players
in the NBA are Nikola Jokic, not in order, Luka Doncic,
Jannis Antetakounmpo and Joe l Embiid. Would you agree with

(02:54):
that because it's one more time Jokic, Luka, Jannis mb
the four best players in the league.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Yeah, I think that the.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
That some might throw Sga in.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Yeah, it might just Sga. It's just maybe just too quick,
too soon. Chris a little bit more. But but he's
he's talented, and it looks like the sky's the limit.
But I agree, the others have accomplished way more.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
And so what do three of those guys have in
common that one doesn't. They've won championships, Jokic, well not Luca,
but Jokic and Giannis have won championships. And this year
Rob one of these young guys, one of these young stars.

(03:42):
And you know, if we for just for sake of
argument or discussion, the post lebron.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Steph kd Era.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Right, these this new group of players, there's gonna be
a new one with a championship. It's either gonna be
Luca or Jason Taate or Anthony Edwards. One of them
is going to have a championship. And the one who
won't will be Joe l Embiid and Rob of the

(04:11):
last we know that he has shared the last six
MVP Awards with Jokich and Giannis. Yanni's won two, Jokic
won three, mb won one. Again, he's the only one
without a championship. And Rob, I mean out of the
MVP guys, of those MVPs, of the last three MVPs

(04:31):
to win it the last six years. But beyond that, Rob,
he hasn't even been to a conference final. Tyres Halliburton
just led a team to the conference final. Trey Young
a few years ago led a team to a conference final.
Damian Lillard, who's great but not viewed like Joel Embiid,

(04:53):
led a team to a conference final. Jimmy Butler, who's
great but not viewed like Joel Embiid, a team to
a conference final recently and to the NBA finals. Rob,
you know that MBID is the only MVP ever never
to reach a conference final. At least Steve Nash got

(05:15):
to the conference finals. He is the only one never
to reforget the finals, never to reach a conference finals.
So what I'm saying, and he's thirty, he ain't twenty four.
He's thirty with the body, I hate to say it
of probably like a thirty five year old, and so Rob,

(05:36):
this is the summer that they have cap room. There's
talk of Paul George, there's talking Jimmy Butler. I'm not
even gonna mention Lebron because that's just probably entirely unrealistic,
but they will presumably improve their team in some way.
Rob Joe lmb this summer, this offseason, I know he's

(06:00):
with Team USA. Observe, observe Lebron James and his work ethic.
How a guy with four championships, all the accolades in
the world is still gonna be working his butt off.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Observe Steph Curry.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Observe your teammates who have championships and see if they're
doing things a little differently than you are. Because Rob
Joe l embiid, if he cares about his legacy, he
needs to say I am gonna do whatever I can
to get in the best shape of my life and

(06:38):
go win this chip next season.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
The only pushback I'm gonna have on you is this
guy kind of rushback. Had Bell's palsy was in a situation,
and not that there's nothing he can do. Chris, when
I look at this year, I was shocked that he
was playing with the condition that he had and what
he put himself through, He's had some bad luck. He
can't stay healthy, and again he's had the bad playoff

(07:04):
performances as well to mix in. But a lot of
it is not just his own doing. I hear what
you're saying. And the longer it goes, the longer it's
not going to be good for him as far as
trying to win a championship, right, But he doesn't have
to win four championships. I think, you know, trust the

(07:25):
process the whole thing. In Philadelphia, if they can go
out Chris, if for some way, somehow he can stay healthy,
they can add another top player because they have the
money in the cap room to do that.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
They'll put themselves in position.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
But in the Eastern Conference it's not gonna be a
cakewalk either.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
But they'll be in that mix next year. And all
he can.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Hope for is that he can stay healthy and that
he gets a little more help or help from one
other player, and then you got to go from there.
People don't think Gianni's was gonna win in Milwaukee. Guess
what it happened for him. I'm not ready to give
up on embiid. I hear what you're saying and.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Saying giving up on him.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
I'm I'm just saying right, right, But I'm just saying
there's a lot of extenuating circumstances. You gotta admit the
Bell's palsy thing, him playing was incredible.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Look, I give him all the credit in the world
for playing through the knee injury to Bell's palsy and
what did he have a migraine at one of the
games or something like that.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Yeah, I mean, it's.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Just but it's always like that. That's the problem. I
can't even overlook this season. It's always whether it's it's something,
And that's what I mean. Robin, I'm not I don't
know what his workout regimen is like, but that's why
I'm saying, I know what Lebron's is like, I know
what steps is like. And some guys, Rob, they're just

(08:52):
injury pro. We talk about Kawhi all the time. Is
that Embeid Maybe maybe it doesn't matter how hard he works.
Maybe is not built to play one hundred NBA games
in a season.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Okay, but this is a lead.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
That's what your job requirement is. And when you're that great,
this dude is great if he could. And I agreed
onn he needs to win one, Rob, just one. Boni's
malone won one with Doctor J as a teammate and
it changed his legacy, and so he just needs one.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
I'm not expecting him to be Yo Kic.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
I mean, heck, Yokic only has one. Y'all just only
has one at this point, so may yeah, just get one.
But he's not even been close. Rob, and the level
of player he is, the caliber of player he is,
this is just unacceptable. He's probably and Rob, we know

(09:58):
how great Patrick.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Ewing was was mbat.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
I like to say his game I described as a
lazy game because it looks lazy out there, even though
he's incredibly effective.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
But he's he probably better than Patrick.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Pay for me for me to say that, but scores
more is one in MVP.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Patrick never did that.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
But Patrick Ewing, even though he and we know Rob
how much he has been dogged because he never won
a championship, he at least got a team to the finals.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
He went twice.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I mean when he was hurt the other one he
got one out yeah yeah, and they were battling the
Loajahwan and it went seven and.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
It won seven games, and you know what, and I'm
not trying to Chris make an excuse your two guard
shoots two for nineteen, you know what I mean? Just no,
I mean on for eleven from three, wasn't he a
one for eleven or whatever it.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
Was it was and they lost by six?

Speaker 1 (11:05):
I mean, if he wins that game and Elijah and
out played you in I mean, but you ain't played well.
It wasn't like he got destroyed. He played well and Rob,
had they won that series, it would have changed. I
mean maybe people would rate him ahead of Elijah. I
don't know, because Elijah would have won the next year,

(11:26):
you know, and Elijaun was great. I think Elijah was
better than Patrick. But Rob, right now, I mean Patrick
at least, like I said, at least he got to
the finals. At least he spent a little time in
the conference finals.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
MB can't even say that in the weaker of the
two conferences.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
So I do think, like I said, what I'm challenging
in bid to do is just get on the best
program he can and if he still can't stay healthy.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Then hey, it just isn't meant to be.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
But you have to give yourself the best shot of
being healthy. Like I said, if you care about your legacy,
because right now, Rob, there's not much of a legacy.
Yes MVP, Yes, Hall of Famer, but for a guy
as good as he is, for a guy that has
to watch his other The other two great big men

(12:21):
in the league, Yannis and Jokicic have one.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Oh, and so does Anthony Davis.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
He's the only great big in the league without a
ring that's that would eat it should eat him up.
So if you have to go vegan or whatever it
is you need to.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
Do, do it because you get change is dying.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
If that's what it takes real, if that's what it takes,
I'm pushing him to greatness eight seven seven ninety nine.

Speaker 5 (12:58):

Your thoughts all.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Right, Chris, Let's kick it off with Ge in Nashville.
You're on the Odd Couple Sports Radio US Up.

Speaker 7 (15:00):
Ge Big, Chris, Rob always loved your show.

Speaker 8 (15:05):
What you said.

Speaker 7 (15:06):
I agree with the theme here, but I'm wondering. Minute ago,
coggested that mbep's already in the Hall of Fame. I mean,
and I don't mean that, like he really is in
the Hall of Fame already. But has everybody just won
an MVP gotten into the Hall of Fame in the NBA.
I've never thought about that because I think this idea
about going deep in the playoffs that has to do

(15:26):
with things like a Hall of fame having a great
year for mediocre team, and he was an amazing at least.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
He's won it once or twice.

Speaker 7 (15:35):
I forget once once and he had he was amazing
that year on his saddle with a pretty mediocre team
in a really difficult situation because of some personnel issues.
But I didn't think that everybody that had ever won
one m v P was was at the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Well, I'm a list and up. But for a few
guys that are obviously.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Still playing, you know, Lebron and Duran, Steph Harden, all
these guys, Westbrook, Rob everybody that's.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
One one is in the only one.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
I think that there could be a question mark about
who is Derek Rose.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Because at the end is definitely a question.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Mark, right, and he got injured which derailed his career.
But outside of that, everybody's in or or going to
be in.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
This is not the NBA Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
It's the Basketball Hall of Fame, and everybody gets in.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
But even if it was a challenging because.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Any Hall of Fame, I know, but I'm saying MB
to me is done enough to be a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
He's an MVP. He's played like.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
What uh one, two, three, four, five, six, eight years.
He's been great every year he's played. He hasn't gone deep,
no doubt. Tracy McGrady didn't even never want him. That
settles it actually right there. Tracy McGrady never wanted a
player our series, which he's in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
So he's a Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
And I think deservedly so in B seven, seven time
All Star, five time All NBA. I mean, Chris, yeah,
he's and you just said Tracy mcgrady's in. I mean,
let's just really okay, so MB's not what is an MVP?

Speaker 4 (17:18):
I don't know what what year to Tracy McGrady win
the MVP?

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Right? Oh?

Speaker 4 (17:21):
I don't I don't remember. So yeah, I think that
he's pretty much set. In fact, the ninety percent of
the people play in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
Or in on Scott in North Carolina, you're in the
EYD couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
What's up, Scott?

Speaker 8 (17:37):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Chris?

Speaker 10 (17:38):
Let us show how you're doing?

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Doing good?

Speaker 10 (17:40):
How you I'm good?

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Man?

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Chris?

Speaker 10 (17:44):
Is sounds like you got him with a butt list
this week.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
But I did, I did. He was third.

Speaker 10 (17:50):
Okay, I ain't catching so today, but I definitely do
agree with you. It's like I'm a Sixers fan. It's
like every year or something. I mean, I give him
credit for pulling through with the you know, whole I
face situation, Polzy.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
Wasn't you impressed that he played through that?

Speaker 9 (18:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (18:07):
But next year will be something else, right, That's the thing.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
You right on the money. If it was.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
If this was the first year he been hurt, I
think people would just be falling all over giving him praise.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
But this happened every year, is something.

Speaker 10 (18:20):
And like in the past. I mean, he has a
teammate who you know dropped the ball, Ben Simmons, James Harden.
But like you I said before, his points per game
dropped like a stand point. Yeah, so he's not you know,
out of that you know, dropping the ball situation. So
it's like, at first, I was kind of questioning him

(18:42):
playing in the USA. You know, most of these guys
they can't even you know, stay healthy for a season.
But I mean, I guess he's gonna be around some
guys who's done it before, so yeah, he should be
able to pick some things up.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
I think you make sense though.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I mean, honestly, I think best case scenario for the
Sixers will be if he went and probably didn't play
a lot, but did get to learn and pick up
the habits from some of these guys and maybe the
practices are hard, but he really.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Come on, man, he can't stay healthy.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
He really the last thing he needs, actual is to
actually be playing competitive games in the summer. But I
just want him to watch these guys and pick up
some of their habits and how they're able to stay healthy.

Speaker 5 (19:26):
Tony in Chicago, You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
What's up Tony?

Speaker 9 (19:31):
Hey?

Speaker 8 (19:32):
Hey, guys, Yeah, I totally agree with Chris big Fan,
by the way, and I don't think I don't think
he wants it bad enough. Honestly, I think if he did,
he would drop some weights, you know, I think he
could get in better shape. And I just totally agree
with you guys. But yeah, I feel like he could

(19:54):
go after I mean, Lebron's forty some years old or
forty years old and he never gets hurted. This It's
kind of like Jimmy Butler, but like at least he
has gone to the finals and you know, but I
feel like he's kind of got that same work ethics.

Speaker 7 (20:09):
But yeah, I think that's fair.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
I think that's fair.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
I mean, come on, you're this is what comes with greatness, right,
we talked about it last week? Was it the WNBA
or Caitlin Clark and Aliah Boston? Right, Like, when you
reach a certain level, people expect a lot from you
and you're going to get more scrutiny. So that's what
he's getting.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
But Rob, let's talk about for now.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears are or Hard Knocks
this year.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
What are your thoughts on that?

Speaker 5 (20:54):
It's interesting, you know, they oh, he's so Hollywood, all
the commercials, all that, and then they run to get
them on Hard Knocks and television.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
I mean, he can't win or lose.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
People can watch him and then there'll be more mostly
people ready to pounce on stuff that he says and
how he's a diva and all this other stuff.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
If I'm the Bears, I'm just I'm not interested in that.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
I mean, I just not.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Rob is there have we have we heard what the
Bears view is? Because the Jets did it last year,
didn't really want to, but they did it.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
How did the Bears feel about it?

Speaker 4 (21:29):
I'ven't heard that part.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
But Chris, you see my my my part is I
don't want cameras. The Bears have been looking for a
franchise quarterback. I don't want any of that. I don't
want any distractions. I don't want Caleb playing to the camera.
I don't want people coming away with feeling one way
or the other about them. It could it could be
a positive light to if people see you, but it
could also be negative. And I just don't understand why

(21:53):
that's so important and why you have to do it.
He's supposed to be trying to win football games and
and all of.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
That extra stuff.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
And to say that the cameras don't, Chris, there's no
way that the cameras aren't.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
When you know that they're there, you play to the camera.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
You can say whatever you want, am I right, There's
no way you can act like they're not there.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Just be yourself and do what you normally do. No,
I can't pick my nose. I can't do this.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
I can't do that.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
I'm just saying no. But Rob, you're absolutely right. I
don't care who the team is it. You asked, why
do they have to do it? It's entertainment. That's why
they're doing it. The league is decided. Hey, they're gonna
make money. I mean right, I'm not saying that, but
we're gonna make money. So you guys gotta do it

(22:44):
like it or not. But for I agree, Rob, for
a football team, I don't care who the team is,
it's not good because you're absolutely right, Rob, if a
camera's on, it's going to affect the way I act.
Some guys will play to the camera. Some guys won't
be able to be themselves right. You can't be yourself right.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
People talk off the record all the time. Why do
they do that because they don't want it out there
in front of the public.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
But apparently in the locker room, you know, people don't
want and not get it. They are doing their everywhere.
But still you cannot tell me, Rob, this does not
affect people.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
No, I agree, And I guess supposedly from reports that
the Bears have put out a couple of statements, I
guess and are cool with it.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
So I guess they're cool.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
I mean, maybe they're fine with the attention.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Maybe they know it's what's the point in saying we
don't want to do it when you know you pretty
much have.

Speaker 11 (23:43):
To, Robchie, They're on board, right, They're on board, according
to well the statement of the team put out. So
you got Kevin Warren, the team president and CEO, saying
that They're happy that they're passionate fans across the world
will be able to experience this unique, critical time in
the history of the franchise stop in Chicago, and this
is the most important one for me. The Maddie Refluse,

(24:05):
the head coach, our players, coaches and staff are excited
to continue the process of building for this twenty twenty
four season.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Now, Rob g, what is the rule? I mean, they
have to do it right? Or do you get one
refuse or how's it work?

Speaker 11 (24:18):
I don't think any team has been able to actively
refuse it. Because that was the case, the Jets wouldn't
have done it last year right. And the reason why
this one is probably not getting as much blowback is
because the Jets getting hard knocks last year was leaked
out like three or four days in advance. We knew
there's only three teams they could choose, and of those
three teams, which one makes the most sense and it's
probably gonna be right the Aaron Rodgers team this year.

(24:41):
There are actually three different versions of hard knocks. Even
if you know this, you got the offseason addition on
the free agent in the draft with the New York Giants,
which is currently, you know, big Shot, you have the
regular training cap one with the Bears coming up, and
there's gonna be an in season version. Remember last year,
I believe it was the Cardinals. This year, it's an
entire division of teams. So the days of saying we

(25:04):
don't want to do this anymore are long gone, because
that's the league is going to be in a hard knock.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
And I think the Bears are probably like, what's the
point in saying we don't want to do it.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
We have to do it.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
And I will say this too, Rob, I do think
there are some players that probably want to do I
think back and again, it's obviously a whole different level.
But if I was in college or high school playing
I would have I would have been fine with cameras.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Oh I can be a star.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
I can you know people can watch me, Cause Rob,
most people don't know the average NFL player, even if
he's a star out on the streets. This gives guys
a chance to show some personality. Maybe it leads to
some other things, but if the number one goal is
winning football games, I'm not sure any of that helps.

(25:57):
I'm not sure having my funny guy on the team,
my team clowning in front of the cameras and and
doing it going even further in his clowning because he
wants to be on the cameras.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
I don't know that that's great for the team.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
Just it's it's always overkilled. Okay, you had it now.
Rob g said there's like three or four versions of it.
It's like who wants to be? Who wants to be
a millionaire? You know, it was good when it was
on once a week and then Chris, they just killed
it by putting it on too much.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
And it does everything right, right. I like Hard Knocks,
but I mean, I'd be cool with just training camp.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Right now they gonna want to have one and then
a whole division and this and that.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
It's just it's always like like, let's see how we
can just keep feeding this monster and this beast. And
it's not about qualities, just quantity. Can we just put
something on.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
It doesn't matter. Let's have a show where.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
They blow up the ball boys blow up the balls
and see how many people watch?

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Is that the next show.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Of the twenty one teams that have done Hard Knocks,
only Evans have made the playoffs unbelievable. So I mean
and they picked, you know, teams that are interesting. Now,
I will say this, probably the Bears are prob just
a quick cursory glance at the teams, I mean, the

(27:17):
Bears are probably the most exciting team this year for
hard knocks.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
It was clearly the.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
Jets last year with Aaron Rodgers. I would say this year, Rob,
it's probably the Bears because.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Of Kayleb Williams. Wouldn't you say?

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Yep?

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Yeah, And and look he's got the painted fingernails and
you know, whatever else he's doing. I mean, it's gonna
be interested and see that dynamic in the locker room
and all this stuff. But I'm with you, Rob, I
just don't think. And now you're talking about a rookie. Now,
he's used to the spotlight. Okay, so it might not

(27:54):
be as big of a deal to him. But I Rob,
I can't imagine that coach is like this. I cannot
imagine that code.

Speaker 9 (28:03):
Now.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
I think I can imagine players liking it, I can't
imagine coaches liking.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
It, Rob G.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
Who else was on that list of teams? Let's just
see where.

Speaker 11 (28:11):
They So, yeah, so they got weird parameters that you know,
you couldn't have made the playoffs, and you know, you
couldn't have a first year head coach, right exactly, So
they were actually only three is that I have no idea.
So there were only three teams this year that were
even eligible to be on hard knocks, And based on
this list, I'm assuming that you guys will agree they
made the right choice. Number one, of course, with the Bears,

(28:33):
they're on it. Number two, the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Yeah, they nobody. They're gonna be boring. They would have
been fun last year exactly.

Speaker 11 (28:41):
And number three, this is probably the worst choice of
them all, the New Orleans Saints.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Yeah, what do they what do they got going on
down there?

Speaker 11 (28:49):
You want to see Taysom Hill, you know, him getting
reps down there at tight end.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Christ there right choice.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I mean again, I think that was the right If
every team in the league was eligible, I still think
that's the right choice. I still think that's the right choice.
So all right, we have carry kittles around the corner
a couple. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
All right, it's the odd couple, Chris and Rob live
from thetiereg dot com studios. We are joined by former
NBA veteran Fox Sports Radio NBA analysts our man, Carrie Kittles.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Carry what's up? What's up? We're good.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Look before we get to the game tonight, I want
to ask you, because I know you've thought a lot
about the injuries. Sam Presty spoke to the media a
couple of days ago for two and a half hours,
and he's saying he thinks the reason that I would
have so many injuries in the postseason in the playoffs
are because of three things. Won the sixty five game

(30:02):
rule where guys have to play sixty five games for
postseason awards.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Two the n Season Tournament.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
And three the more physical play that the refs allowed
over the second half of the season.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
What are your thoughts on that.

Speaker 9 (30:20):
I think it's a combination of all that. I think
the more court time these these guys have seen, the
more wear and tear they're having on their bodies, it's
gonna make you more prone to injuries, the more sustible
to injuries. So I think the n Season Tournament definitely
plays a role in that there's more games, right, And
I mean, look, at the end of the day.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
There's not more games. Those are just regular season games
carried so it's not more games.

Speaker 9 (30:48):
Games that the guys are playing. They're not sitting out
those games. They're playing in those games.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
So do you think because I took what Presty was saying,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
I don't want to put words in his mouth, but
it felt like to me he was basically like, y'alls
can't play eighty two games anymore, and whether it's the pace,
whatever it is, they can't do it. And I don't
think that's fair to the fans. I think if that's
an understanding that they guys can really play like sixty
five games and be healthy, that they should.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
I know they won't, but that they should cut the schedule.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
You can't have fifteen games where it's understood that your
best players won't be playing and not be fair to
the fans.

Speaker 9 (31:30):
Yeah, you know, if the Cat it's the Cat twenty two, Chris,
what are you gonna do. They're gonna change the route
and slow the game back down. Again, that's not gonna happen.
So the game is gonna stay at the pace. We're
watching right now. But there's so many possessions and there's
so much running and running on both ends of the court,
and that's putting so much trust in their bodies so

(31:51):
that they're not gonna change it. They're not gonna cut
the game, first of all, and they're gonna make these
guys play a certain number of games because fans want
to see him out there. But right, you, it's too fast.
I've been yelling and screaming for years the pace of players.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
To have you fought any doctors about this or is
this just you?

Speaker 2 (32:10):
No?

Speaker 3 (32:11):
I sound it makes sense, but I'm just asking.

Speaker 9 (32:14):
No, what a doctor's gonna say. I mean, look, they
already have medical staff, you know, multiplied exponentially since I played,
and you're still seeing guys getting injured.

Speaker 7 (32:24):
So what do they know.

Speaker 9 (32:26):
They're just treating the injuries. They're trying to prevent them
and they can't do it medically, and they're and they're
doing they're doing massages, they're doing the cryo therapy, you
name it, I can punch it, whatever does the matter.
They're gonna get injured because there's too much running.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Man, All right, who do you like tonight?

Speaker 3 (32:45):
And that's a Debbie Downer right now.

Speaker 5 (32:47):
I know.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
I'm man, It's back.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
Carry. We're just saying, who do you like tonight? T
Wolves at home or or Dallas?

Speaker 9 (33:02):
Well, I think Lively is playing off the bench. I
think for Doc gives them a little bit more of
a lyft, But I mean Dallas can be flat again.
They they expect to win this game in the road.
I mean, you're giving these guys a little bit of
life now, right they're going home. They're still playing with
house money right there have nothing to lose, so they're
gonna play fancy free. And so I think I like

(33:22):
Minnesota at home, and I like that told them about
and six at home, Carrie, Rob and.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
I were talking about that with Eddie House, like you
and you said when he said that the t Wolves
are playing fancy free, we we've looked at it like, well,
they the t Wolves got all the pressure on them
because they're facing the elimination and.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
They're at home where people expect you to win. Sometimes
I've seen teams carry at home lose and the Timberwolves,
what if they lost Chris five or six four of
their last five.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
And you've been in both positions, you've been in the
close out about to close the team out and getting
closed out?

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Which one did you feel the most pressure in under?

Speaker 9 (34:04):
I think when you're facing your elimination, there's no pressure.
There's less pressure on you when you're facing the max
because they're expected to lose your down down three loves right,
So they want They won one game and no one's
expected them to win the series and win four in
a row, Chris, So, but but carry here. No, there's
no pressure on Minnesota. They were they're gonna win the

(34:25):
extend the series. They lose, they go on vacations.

Speaker 5 (34:28):
No, but but carry if that, If that was the case,
we wouldn't have gentlemen sweeps four games the one we've
seen gentlemen that's what is a term for it, because
the team wins one game a gentleman sweep. So why
if they have no pressure and they can just go
out there, why do we ever even have the term
gentlemen sweep?

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Then?

Speaker 9 (34:48):
I think it's a testament to the team that has
locked in and focused. Was Dallas locked in and focused?

Speaker 5 (34:55):
No, they had a bad night, Kyrie and and Luke
had a bad night together.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
That's gonna have and again let's let's.

Speaker 9 (35:01):
Let's discuss that too. Let's discuss when you have a
team that since the focal point is just on the
success of two guys playing well, So you mean to
tell me if Carie and Luca don't play well, they
have no chance of winning. I mean, they're just really
just taking so much off of their role players. They
lost by.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Two How did they lost by four points? They didn't
get blown out.

Speaker 9 (35:22):
I mean because yeah, they didn't have a great game,
but they didn't think up the gym. I mean, you
know seven for.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Luca actually had like a twenty five, fifteen and twelve
or something like that.

Speaker 4 (35:33):
Yeah, yet shooting, yeah, yeah, but it took twenty eight
shots to get twenty eight points.

Speaker 9 (35:41):
That's my point is that it's like they need to
those I mean, listen, PJ. Washington has to play better.
They have to get more off the bench. I don't know,
if it's some hardaway live league, live league, maybe get
them ten points. They gotta find points elsewhere. They can't
just rely on two guys to score sixty points every
time they out, you know, every playoff outing. It's just
impossible for those guys to do so that they need help.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
What are your thoughts on Carl Anthony Towns, Like, do
you think he can be the second best player on
the championship team? Because that's what I think if Minnesota
does lose this series, I think that's what they have
to spend the offseason figuring out, well.

Speaker 9 (36:20):
I think he can. I think he has a I
think he has a sus and the skills to be
that second guy. I mean, you know, he's not having
a bad series, he's not having a bad postseason. It's
just can he rage his level of play? Right? We're
seeing it with Kyrie rages level of play in the postseason,
winning matters most you know right now, especially so that's him,

(36:41):
cause the town is a great player. He's just not consistent.
And I think that's that's Rooke as a as a
season veteran now right, Can he be relied on every
night to be that side kick to take off some
of the pressure, because I mean, listen to you know,
a man is a very unselfish player. I mean he's
looking to get it. Just will cap be consistent enough

(37:03):
to be that dominant player help out?

Speaker 10 (37:05):
All right?

Speaker 3 (37:06):
That is our man, Carrie Kittles, great stuff as always.

Speaker 9 (37:09):
Carry We appreciation all right, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
All right, it's interesting Rob.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
I mean, I guess, you know, I respect this view
and as a player, obviously he's been in those situations.
I get what he and Eddie House are saying in
that basically, you know everybody expects you to lose now,
and so you go out there playing free. I guess
I'm looking at it from the perspective of if I'm

(37:38):
on the team that's down and I feel like, man,
we should have won this series, or we we really
should have been going to the finals, I'm kinda I
still am putting some pressure on myself, like you know.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
What I mean, But.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
Is that there would be no term of gentlemen's sweep
if teams do think the means anything. But I'm saying
that if teams didn't feel pressure and they're down three
to one and they came back to win, a lot
of times people down like that, they lose on a
on a gentleman's sweep five games, that's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
No, But I don't I don't understand.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
I don't know what the term has to do with,
you know, the players that it happens more than often
that it should have been winds up being five games.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
That's all usual.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Oh yeah, see, I don't always think it should have
been a sweep every time there's a general but that's
what a gentleman, meaning a team won one of the games.
But I think that generally it's probably is in five
because one of the teams was that much better and
they win it in five, all right,
