(00:56):
the way sports talk radio should be. We are the
Odd Coup. Chris Brussar, Rod Parker, Antonio Daniels joining us
at the bottom of the hour. We're gonna keep an
NBA Tonight is the NBA Draft lottery, and one lucky
team could be the Pistons, could be, the Spurs could be,
the Rockets, could be. Several other teams who wind up
(01:20):
with that top pick, and this is one of those
years where there is no question who.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Is going number one.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
The draft really starts after that because.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Victor Winn Binyama a seven foot five player from France.
And if you haven't seen this kid, you've never seen
anything like him. Imagine Giannis Ante di Compo and Kevin Durant.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
I guess mixed together. I was gonna say, evy five
guy who can do with guard skills.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
What I'm gonna say, Imagine a giraffe with a French
French accent.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
That's what I was gonna say.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Okay, but anyway he.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Out that he's a giraffe is that he's five. He
can handle the ball like a guard. He can shoot
the three with terrific accuracy. He block shots, he can
drive to the basket, he can rebound. He leads the
(02:36):
top level league in France, Robbin I believe scoring and
rebounding and block shots. He's easily the greatest prospect since Lebron.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
James and Chris. I'm gonna say this. I know no
one's gonna pass on them. I mean, I'm not saying.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
You, I'm just what you're about to say.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Tell me, yes, I'm just you gotta be leary because
of the history of big men in the NBA and
their issues. And I'm not putting it out there trying
to say gonna get hurt Chris, He's what seven five?
It's always foot and ankle and leg situations. Let me
(03:29):
give you a couple guys over the years, y'all ming
foot and ankle played eight seasons.
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Greg Olden had a knee seven seasons.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Brad Doherty didn't even play that long.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
No Chris, he was around, but he didn't play. Okay,
Remember George Mirrason, wasn't he with the Washington George Morrason?
Remember him back in ankles? Chris pretty long little career
for himself.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
He played six seasons. Sam Bowie, who I covered in
New Jersey. I love Sam.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Sam is like one of my favorite people I've ever
covered ten years. But Limited he was never you know,
he was picked before Michael Jordan, right, Bill Walton. Chris
He played ten seasons. Limited foot back was mostly known
for being hurt right and winning that championship in Portland.
That those are the things he went the champion of.
(04:21):
He was hurt and Joe LMB. Chris Foot missed the
first two and a half seasons with the sixers. I'm
not saying I wouldn't take him, because if you take him,
you would and the kid. But I but I if
somebody was scared, I would be. They have a right
to be a little afraid of such a tall guy
(04:44):
with the skinny with a chance that you know that
leg or that ankle or that foot. That's what scares me.
Am I wrong to be scared? Am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (04:55):
If it feels bad being scared?
Speaker 6 (04:59):
Right?
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Do you feel like, man, he hasn't been injured like that.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
I don't want to project that on.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Him, but look it, it is something that has dogged
big men. Now the guys you know you he's seven five,
He was seven three. I guess he grew a few
inches because now he's like seven five seven four, seven five.
And when you get to that hight rob you're right, yao,
(05:24):
ming Sean Bradley, George Mrrasion.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
They had issues.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
There were seven footers you mentioned, il galskaz Embiid.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
We obviously can all name plenty of.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Seven footers who haven't had these injuries, but shock five Hewing,
Elijah Wan, Alonzo Moore, You go on and on and on,
Will Chamberlain, David Robinson, we can go on, but seven
five is in that realm of is he going to last?
Speaker 4 (05:58):
Now I'll give his injury history Rob.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
In December twenty twenty, he had a stress fracture in
his fibula. A year later, twenty twenty one November, a
finger injury, fracture a finger that's not a concern, that
could happen to anybody. In December, a month later, he
missed two months with a shoulder contusion.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Not no big deal that happened, that can happen to anybody.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
And then in last summer he was he had a
sos as sois injury. I don't even know how to
pronounce it, but it is a muscle it's a type
of muscle injury. So he hasn't really had a history
of foot problems. He's been playing the game since he
(06:47):
was a young kid, and he's been playing it on
the perimeter. He's been playing like I mean, obviously he
goes inside too. But one of the things about his
development is that, and he pushed this a lot. He
wanted coaches that would not limit him and would not
(07:07):
just say because he's taller and everybody, they put him
under the basket. And so he was able to do
the same drills as the guards. It's kind of how
they developed guys in Europe and same drills as the guards,
and you know, he developed tremendous ball skills, shooting, dribbling, passing,
what have you. So, Rob, your concern is noted, and
(07:32):
I'm sure every team has had discussions about it. But
I'm also sure every team would take me and I
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, because they're they're afraid that, you know, just that
you're afraid. That's no. I mean, he's a talent, That's
what I'm saying. I'm just saying he's that kind of
a talent. You can't pass on him with the idea
that you think he's gonna get hurt. I get that.
I'm just saying at seven five, with the leg and
(08:04):
the foot and the ankles, Chris, and playing against men,
and I don't know, is the NBA a little you know,
like like we talk about it all the time. These
guys can't stay healthy, Chris, because you have to cover
more ground. Now you're not down in the block where
you're just there in a little spot. Now you're racing
out to try to put up your hand for a
(08:24):
guy shooting at three at the perimeter.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
This is what.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
You know. These are the things that we've heard players
talk about. You got to be all over the court
to wear and tear and all these guys getting hurt.
I'm afraid that he'll do that because he has so
much ground to cover and he's a big guy, and
the competition in the NBA is going to be better
(08:50):
than he's ever faced. So I'm just I'm playing. I
don't want to be a Debbie downer. And if the
Pistons get.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Him or.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Him, no, you're being a Debbie downer.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Oh me.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I mean I hear you. I would and.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
This doesn't mean it can't happen, but I he doesn't
have that history. He doesn't have this history of you know,
foot problems and that. Again, that doesn't mean it can't
creep up and happen. But I this kid, Rob, I
gotta take him. And I think every every single team
(09:29):
in the NBA would take it, and you.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Even said you would take it.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
And I don't think they're taking him primarily out of
feared at all.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
No, No, he no health.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Then we know you can't. You can't make a pick
and go like, well we didn't take him because we
thought he was gonna get hurt, like like, you can't
make that pick that based on that. You can't let
me ask you this, but I do question a guy
that size and if he can stay healthy.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
So since you have the questions, if you, let's say
Orlando wins the draft lottery or any team for that matter,
is there a trade you would accept for.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
No, he does stuff that nobody's done, and you got
to take a look at him. There's no way. You
just have to if I get offer you, Luca, No.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
I want to see this kid.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I want to see this and you won't take anybody.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
No, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I'm just not. I want to see the kid play.
He's unique, he's different. Nobody does what he does at
to handle the basketball at height and all the things
he can shoot from the perimeter, like like he is
a special player of all his good and he stays healthy.
So you gotta I want to see him fail for myself.
How's that does that make sense? I'm with you.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
I'm going to see him fail for myself.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
There's no trade i'd accept for if I get to
win the draft lottery and Nick right now, we're talking
about this today during breaks on first things first, and
he mentioned a few. He mentioned he might proprobably do
it for Luca a Yannis and maybe Steph. There's no
way I do it for Steph. As great as he is,
(11:15):
and he's still he's arguably playing the best ball of
his career. But I might have Steph for three more
good years at this kid, Rob, if he does stay healthy.
I got him for fifteen years, right right right. And
Rob would always say, obviously, everybody wants to win a championship,
(11:36):
and it's painful when you have a great team and
you don't win it. I was just talking to a
guy in Philadelphia and he's just crushed by.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
What's going on with the Sixers.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I said, but look what you want in NBA, And
let me know if you agree with this.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Rob, Yes, you want to win a.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Ring, but what you really want, since you can't guarantee
a ring, I want that five to ten year period
where every year I'm in the mix, I'm in the conversation.
We've got a legitimate chance. If we don't get over
the hump and win a title, it's gonna hurt. But
(12:14):
we were there for a decade. Rob Patrick Ewing never
delivered the ring.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
For the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
You gonna tell me they wouldn't die to have the
Patrick Ewing era right now?
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Oh yeah, they would, right you.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Malone in Stockton never delivered Utah ring. Utah's never won
a ring, but Utah's been a great franchise.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
I mean, I would you want to win a ring.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
But Phoenix when they asked Steve Nash, Sacramento when they
had Chris Webber, they never won.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
But that was a great run for those teams.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
Hey, you want to get a championship out of it,
like you do?
Speaker 3 (12:50):
And I know where you keep going back, But Chris,
you know because you spend a lot of time there
during that run. But the Pitchers went to sixth straight
Eastern confra and they won a championship and went back
a second year. You can't look at that era of
Pistons basketball and be negative. You just can't, am I right,
they were in the Eastern Conference. Look at where they are,
right even.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
If they had not, if they had never won a
champions Let's say they lost that series to the Lakers.
When they won lost again to this birth, you still
would that was still a great run.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Right, and it just it was capped off that they
did win at last one and then to me, I
always said that they're going back the next year. Chris
kind of validated it wasn't like a lucky they just
had a lucky run and they won that one year,
they were able to go back and even though they
didn't win and they lost in seven games, I think
that era is cemented as that was a good team,
(13:41):
good great players, and they and they won a championship.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, and I mean again, look at where Detroit is now.
It has been for how long now is it over
a decade? It's been very relevant. So that's my point.
Like this guy, Philly, Rob was telling me we back
to where we were twenty eleven. I'm like, no, you're not.
That's when they had Iguadala and Drew Holliday and got
(14:05):
to the second.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Round, traded them and then started the process.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
I said, you didn't have any chance with that team
right now, at least you have a legitimate superstar that
every year you're in that discussion.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
It's painful when you don't get there.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
But the point is, Rob, if you get win Bayama
and he's healthy, that's now your lot for you know,
not next year necessarily, but maybe three four years from now,
You're gonna be right there for the next decade.

(15:43):
did you see that?
Speaker 3 (15:44):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Of course they fell out of the top. They were
only it was going to form until it fourth pick,
and Detroit got the fifth pick, and so on the
four teams with a chance at emar what Rogie, Charlotte, Houston, them,
Portland and San Antonio.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
So win the minute. So Charlotte jumped up and Portland.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
I guess Roy it was Charlotte, Yes, up right, Charlotte Moore.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
San Antonio and uh Houston had the worst records. I
think the best place for him as development and all
that would be San Antonio.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
They had Boris di Il who's French.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
They had Tony Parker who's French, and obviously Tim Duncan,
a big man that you know, led their dynasty for
twenty years.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
But I Rob, I have those teams.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I love to see him in Charlotte with Michael Jordan
and LaMelo Ball.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Houston wouldn't kill me either. I wouldn't mind seeing that. Yeah,
that'll be interesting to see a Fox for trash talking, Yes.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, yes said you call it trash talking Tuesday eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
But Rob, let's talk about this.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Aaron Judge situation. Yes, Rob g explained quickly what happened.
Speaker 8 (17:01):
Well before we get to that should be noted that
the San Antonio Spurs have won the rights to Victor
winm Minyama in the NBA draft.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
I'm at the third pick. Nick Kope will have more
on that at the bottom of the hour.
Speaker 8 (17:12):
But yesterday Aaron Judge was in the middle of that
bad against the Tampa Bay against the Toronto Blue Jays,
and as he's standing in the batter box repeatedly glances
side eye at the Yankees dugout, which prompted members during
the Blue Jays broadcast to say, quote, you don't want
to go throwing allegations around without knowing but clearly insinuating
(17:35):
they thought that he was getting signed somewhere from the
Yankees dugout.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Judge said after the fact that he.
Speaker 8 (17:40):
Was looking at them because he thought they were doing
too much chirping over some poor calls by the umpire
and not about stealing signs. But that was what they
were because Aaron Boone got ejected.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yes, right, and Chris I'm gonna say this announcer, right do.
And my theory is he wasn't doing it because they
were chirping. He was doing it because the picture for
the Blue Jays. Chris was tipping his pitches, and they
were like, that's common. If you tip your pitches, your
(18:15):
teammates are gonna tell Chris. When you're an Aaron judge,
you just want to know when the slider's coming so
I can lay off of it. If he's tipping his pictures,
I don't think that's cheating if you're tipping your pitches.
If he was really cheating trying to get the signs,
he wouldn't have made it that obvious. I'm just like,
you wouldn't be looking over at the dugout like that.
(18:37):
I really believe, and he won't. Anybody won't admit to
it that the picture was tipping his pictures and he
was looking for the for his teammates to say, dude,
no slider be ready.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
You know what I mean Like that, I.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Totally agree rab his judge's explanation. I get him not
giving up the rights, right. You know you're not going
to say that, Yeah, but his explanation doesn't make a
ton of sense to me. You know, there was chirping
in the in the dugout. I have no problem with it.
(19:10):
I don't think it's cheating either.
Speaker 9 (19:12):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
It's like we've heard Lebron, James and Chris Paul calling
out the deef the opponent's.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Plays on the court.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
They're guarding them and it's Chris Paul sees the point
guard you know, signaling or.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
A coach or whatever, and calls out the play.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Is that cheating?
Speaker 10 (19:31):
No?
Speaker 4 (19:33):
When Lebron figured out because of the set.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
That Golden State was running the hammer play hammer action
and he was there to steal the ball from Draymond
Green on his past, was that Churt cheating?
Speaker 5 (19:48):
No?
Speaker 1 (19:48):
No, Chris, And to me, it's not cheating. Cheating is
when you bring in technology.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
I totally agree.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
If you're going to tip your pitches and let people
know what you're throwing, Chris, I'm gonna take advantage of that.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
That's why they That's why they got to glove the ball, Chis.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
They don't want you to see the grip.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
It's a reason you're trying to hide your grip and
your glove, right, there's a reason.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Absolutely, even in high school playing baseball, if if you can,
you're trying.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
To figure out the third base coaching science or they're.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Trying to figure out your coach is science like, so
you know is he is he stealing or is he
not steal Like that's a part of baseball. And if
you're sloppy enough where I can figure out your stuff,
or you're tipping your pitches, so be it. Now there's cheating,
and we talked about that. To me, technology is not
a level playing field because if I've got some technology
(20:47):
that's better than yours, now I've got an advantage.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
But this shows did was technology, Like.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Oh yeah, that was the way prehistoric whatever you know
with the garbage cans. But you know what I'm saying, like,
if we're all on the field and I can figure
out what the pictures throwing, or I can figure out
the catcher signals, that's just that's I'm smart and I
shouldn't be penalized for that. So I'm with you on that.
And I mean, Judge hit two home runs, sure did.
(21:17):
Maybe was tipping his pitches, all right. Antonio Daniels join
us in a minute, Rob san Antonio, and that's where
Antonio played and won his championship, so I'm sure he
is excited for the Spurs.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app Our.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Next guest got team music. He's also got a ring
with the San Antonio Spurs.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
More might be on the way. We'll get to that
in a minute.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
New Orleans Pelicans TV analyst, Fox Sports Radio, NBA analyst
Our man, Antonio Daniels.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (22:00):
Brother?
Speaker 5 (22:01):
How you?
Speaker 9 (22:01):
What's up? Fellas?
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Are you excited?
Speaker 1 (22:04):
I mean, you played for several teams, but you won
your championship with the Spurs. Obviously they won the draft lottery,
so they're getting Victor wim by Nyama?
Speaker 9 (22:14):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Are you excited about this?
Speaker 9 (22:16):
Why would I be excited? Man? I'm the Colorados for
the New Orleans Pelicans.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
You want to ring with them?
Speaker 9 (22:25):
Yeah? But the thing is San Antonio's home for me,
Like I'm in San Antulio, now that's for me. But
all that did would make the Southwest Division that much
more dangerous. Well, not just Luca, It's not just Kyrie.
Now you add women and Yama. You got John Morant,
you know Will maybe maybe you got mmphus. You know,
(22:47):
you got the young talent with with Jalen Green and
Porter like yeah, yeah, that that made the Southwest Division.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Let me ask you this, Antonio.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I didn't really want to see him go to the Spurs,
but I did say I think that's the best place
for him because obviously, you know, they had David Robinson
to him Duncan, but also Tony Parker and Boris di
Ile won championships there. They're from France, they obviously have
a stable and great front office and coaching staff.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
So do you agree with that, whether it it's the.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Best place or not.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
But that, I mean, this young man is stepped into
a fantastic position.
Speaker 9 (23:29):
Yeah, he stepped into a fantastic position because you know,
Tim Duncan is still around the team. And I just funny,
I was just texting back and forth with him about this,
and I sent him a message and I just said yo,
and he responded back in all capitals and said, holy
s Hi.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
You know the rest.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
Right, because it's it now. And I agree with you,
Like you can put him in a situation like Charlotte
and see him getting up and down the floor with
LaMelo Ball, put him in Portant and see him getting
up and down the floor with Damian Lulu. But when
you put him in San Antonio with Greg Popovich. And
this is why I think Pop is the best coach
in NBA history, because he can change his system to
(24:13):
get the skill set.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Of his players.
Speaker 9 (24:15):
You know, so if he wants to highlight women Yama,
he knows exactly how to do that. Right. All coaches
don't know how to do that. There are certain coaches
that have one style that they know how to coach.
If Wommen Dama fits cool, if he doesn't cool, what
you'll see Greg Popovich do is mold wo min Yama
into the type of big that he wants him to be.
(24:35):
Same thing he did for David Robinson, same thing he
did for Tim Duncan. Same thing we saw him do
for guys like Kawhi, Leonard, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
I didn't even know Pop was still coaching. Is he
that still down there? They have one anything?
Speaker 4 (24:48):
And like he ain't going nowhere now.
Speaker 9 (24:51):
Yeah, but you ain't gonna You ain't got to win
to be a coach and win these days nowadays, rob
even if you do win, you still you know that.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Let's let's do that real quick, because you want to
talk about jaw and let's go to Doc Rivers. Chris
and I thought he should have been fired after the
game or Monday morning. It was a little later than
we thought. But there's no way they could have held
on the Doc after that, could they?
Speaker 9 (25:15):
Why? My question? Why not? Well?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
My thing was this are not and a lot of
people And look, we're not saying Doc hasn't had a
very good coaching careers somewhere else or that he can't,
but he has had so many recently failures. Let's just
call it what it is, blowing three to one leads,
(25:40):
you know, blowing three two leads? And yes, I'm right now,
I don't have the confidence in Doc that you.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
And lead me to the championship. I'm sorry.
Speaker 9 (25:51):
Okay, Okay, So here's the question. Do you have the
confidence in Joel embiid.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
And not hard No, no, no, not Harden and may
be and be yeah it's starting to wane, but I'm
not gonna put him in the hardened class.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
But not Harden.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
I hear you, But it's on. It's not we're not
saying it's just Doc, but it's also Doc.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
But wait a minute, but what a Mantonio. This is
the problem I have? Okay, because you sounded like, oh,
blame the players, And I get it the players didn't
play well. But but Doc is the same guys with
the Clippers when they choked out a three to one lead.
The very next year with Tylu and without Kawhi, they
go to the Western Conference finals. So you can't tell
me like we can't just give Doc credit when things
(26:33):
go good, I'm gonna say it's him, and when and
when they go bad, it's the players.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
I can't get with.
Speaker 9 (26:39):
No, no, no, no no, because we live in a culture
risk the complete opposite. When the team plays well, we
praise the players, and when the team struggled, we criticized
the coach. Right, here's the thing. The NBA is different, man.
I don't think it's the coach's job to have to
ry ray and get his players going for every single game.
(26:59):
And now coaches are in such a bad position because
you know what you continue to see and the words
you continue to hear every time a coach coach gets fired. Accountability.
We want someone that's gonna hold guys accountable. Well, what
good is it to hold a star accountable? If the
star can go over the coach's head, what good does
that do? Right? Everybody continues that we heard it in Atlanta.
(27:21):
We hear now year all the time. We want somebody
that's gonna hold coaches accountable. And the question that I
have for you guys in today's NBA, which is player
empowered and player driven, how is it possible to hold
stars accountable for what they do and don't do, especially
in games like Game seven?
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Well, look, Tyler seems to do it. Eric Sposter seems
to be doing Sposter can do it. Csu're different, and
pat Riley empowered him. And that's where the front off is.
Like if they let you know, we're backing the coach, maybe.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
That's the way to you know, empower the coach.
Speaker 9 (28:00):
I hear you, how many situations easy job? How many
in the NBA has that happened? How many situations in
the NBA out of all thirty teams do you think
that the coach is literally empowered to hold star accountable.
We watched what John Moran did. John Moran got an
eight game susvention.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
That was the league.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
It really wasn't even that that's the league.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
All right, let's go there, let's go let's go there.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
But docs record is just yes, it's horrendous.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
We're just six and sixteen and then big games come on.
I just that's ridiculous with the talent he had. Anyway,
let's go to John Moran. That's about how long should
this suspension be? Because he did get a slap on
the wrist and the NBA got a bite and the
butt for doing it.
Speaker 9 (28:48):
Right, I think that I will never give up on
a twenty four year old kid. I would never do
it because I know when I was twenty four years
of age, I had a lot of money. I did
a pretty full things too. Now just because I didn't
do what he did doesn't mean that I'm any different, right.
The only difference is when I was twenty four, social
(29:08):
media wasn't around. We didn't have Instagram Live, nor would
I have done Instagram Live, but we didn't have social media.
My thing is what Jamaran did, and we all knew
this way back when when you go to counseling or
therapy for eleven days. He made a mockery of it,
(29:28):
and the NBA emit. It allowed him to make a
mockery of it, because anyone that's ever done anything like
that knows that eleven days does not make you uncomfortable.
The reason that's important is because you true transformation is
not impossible. It's not possible without discomfort. You can't do it.
So when the guy goes for eleven days and he
comes back and he says all these things, but yet
(29:49):
his actions don't match his words, I feel like the NBA,
because he made a mockery of this whole thing, they
need to drop the hammer on it. And by the hammer,
I mean twenty five games minimum, up to a half
a season, and even the whole season. I wouldn't trip.
I would not trip because you guys know, in today's league,
the only way to make guys listen is to make
(30:10):
them feel. So what he has to do is feel
this suspension financially.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
No, I agree.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
I agree because and Antonio, and I'm sure you feel
the same way. This is also for him because I'm
worried about him, because he could put himself in some
bad situations trying to act like a gangster when he's
not well, when you.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Before, I know he wasn't.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
But even if he had grown up like that, that's
not what.
Speaker 9 (30:41):
You are now.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
You're not in that now, and you should stay away.
So he's putting them both a position where somebody might
test him.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
He needs to wake up and maybe the suspension to do.
Speaker 9 (30:51):
So what we say, what we say all the time
is is you can be the thermometer or you can
be the sermosteat right, you can be one of the two.
Can we as to the temperature in the room or
you can set the temperature in the room. And basically
what Ja Morant needs to do is become a leader. Right.
Proverbs will tell you iron sharpurns, iron, who are just
(31:13):
surrounding yourself with?
Speaker 6 (31:15):
Right?
Speaker 9 (31:16):
Who do you have in your corner? And he needs
to take responsibility for his actions because I'm not gonna
sit here and put this on his boys, like man,
you know what, Man, his boys need to know. He
needs to grow up. You can't expedite the process. I
get it. And a lot of times we're foolish as men,
and it takes us hearing losing everything when we talk
(31:37):
about losing everything a lot of times, that's what it
takes for things to kind of switch on and for
it to click in.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
All right, that's our man, Antonio Daniels.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
We I wish we had more time, but just quickly,
who you got in each conference series?
Speaker 4 (31:53):
I have to tell you and the Lakers, Wow, Lakers Boston.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
I actually have those same pin so all right, Antonio,
great stuff, man.
Speaker 3 (32:02):

two words for you, dopens Are you serious covering the
NBA since nineteen seventy one?
Speaker 9 (33:18):
He is gone.
Speaker 11 (33:21):
This is what he does.
Speaker 9 (33:23):
It's embarrassing, but disrespect, the ignorance, It's just ridiculous. I
couldn't believe it.
Speaker 11 (33:31):
So I had to wait in my car for this
moment because that guy was off his rocker.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
Well, we appreciate having our back, man, No disrespect. We

back at you.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
You gotta know that, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
Eric in Texas, you're on the couple of Fox Sports. Ready,
who you trash?
Speaker 3 (33:53):
And Eric?
Speaker 9 (33:55):
What's going on?
Speaker 11 (33:55):
Fella's big fan, big fan? I almost lost my voice
going crazy. Man, I want to trash. I want to
trash all the broadcasters. I want to trash all the
talking heads on TV saying that san Antonio it wasn't
didn't deserve the first thiing, w're too balling work to
this worst tall market. Let me tell you something. Never
once I'm thirty two years old, I've been to tond
(34:17):
of the games that I never was have I seen
my fan base boo, our own players on the court,
like everybody everywhere on the East coast, on the West coast.
Is that man is that young man is gonna go somewhere.
It's got a loyal fan base and someone who loves
him and the doors n San Antonio. Baby, get ready,
Dyna stee.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Look, I'm gonna give you that.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Rob you were down there.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
I'm sure for a lot of games. I like San Antonio.
The river Walk, the fans are terrific.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
I'm I didn't want to see him go there, but
I gotta give the Spurs fans and they love that franchise.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
I gotta give him love. And he's in a great situation.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
What's what's longer the riverwalk? Or wouldn't be on he.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
You kinda learn how to say it.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Win Banyama, win banyama.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
I'll get it right, right, Rito, I'll get it right.
Wom Ba yama, coom ba ya my lord?
Speaker 9 (35:10):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (35:10):
Cool by y'all. Daniel in San Diego. You're the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (35:18):
Yo.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
What's up you guys? How are you guys doing today?
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Good? Who trash? All right?
Speaker 6 (35:22):
So I'm going to be trashing y'all. First things First,
it's going to be minor, but I think Antonio was
your last guest. First of all, we need to cut
it out with saying twenty four year old kid. Nah,
cut that out, bro, He is a twenty four.
Speaker 9 (35:34):
Year old man.
Speaker 6 (35:35):
First of all, we could have get We could have
made yes, sir, we could have made an excuse for
saying kid for the first time, but this is the
second time. Now you're putting billionaires dollars at steak, and
that reminds me. Everyone's saying, oh, it's a second Amendment, right, Well,
look at it this way. You're not the person that's
going to be handing this gentleman's two one hundred and
fifty million dollars and pretty your whole career at stake,
(35:58):
or not even your career, just your whole friend guy's
at stake, and let alone jaw. He doesn't realize that.
I don't think he's seen videos where people accidentally take
their lives playing with guns. Now the way he's doing
it right, you got to cut it out, bro, because
at the end of the day, you're not only hurting yourself,
but you're hurting the kids that do look up to you.
Because now you're glorifying guns when you don't need to
do it in that situation. And now next thing, you know,
(36:20):
they're gonna be hanging out with their friends, and lord forbid,
they're not a kid that accidentally loses their life for
playing with a gun because they learned.
Speaker 9 (36:25):
It from you.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Thank you, good call, man, good job.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Hold doubt about it.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
Let's squeeze in Hank in Virginia got thirty seconds sports.
Speaker 9 (36:35):
I'm going in on crush because here he is with
the Lebron. You know it ain't important him. Man, Look, okay,
I know you love Jordan's like all these guys you
say love the Lakers.
Speaker 10 (36:45):
If he wins five, Bro, he's better than Jordan's. He's
just better.
Speaker 9 (36:48):
He's got way more tight and way more title opportunities.
And you say that Cleveland team was any good he
took the first time.
Speaker 10 (36:54):
Come on, man, and he dragged Wade and Bush because
look what they did after he left.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
Wait, unbelievable. What about.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
First of all, I love Lebron, all right, I've done
several stories on Lebron. I've been a Lebron defender. I
just think Michael Jordan's better. And five and twenty years
does not equate, is not better than six and fifteen
years rob Am I wrong?
Speaker 5 (37:15):
Is my mouth not at all?
Speaker 3 (37:17):
You won't.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
I'm staying number two
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Which is great, second best ever, and our left keep
in like a a couple.
