Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's get this funny.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I am Chris Bruce ar he is Martin Weiss, and
we are live broadcasting live from the tire rack dot
com studios.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Tyrag dot com will help you get there.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
They've got an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free row
hazard protection, and more than ten thousand recommend it installers.
Tire rag dot com is the way tirebine should be.
We got Fucky Cole Mark Medina coming up at the
bottom of the hour to talk all things NBA, and

(01:03):
that'll include a good portion about Team USA, so you
definitely don't want to miss that. But in the meantime
in between, Tom Martin Weiss, as the home run derby
is about to get underway, let's talk a little NFL.
It's never a bad time to talk some NFL, and
right now there's a lot of talk about Tua because

(01:28):
he is that kind of quarterback out there. Obviously Dak Prescott,
but thatk has had his big contract and he'll get
another win at some point. But Tua is a guy
that's been incredible. You know, this year was very productive
had you know, was one of the had some of
the best statistics in the NFL, and put up the

(01:52):
historic seventy point game of course against the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
And yet he is not.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
And his teammate Tyreek Hill, I mean, man, Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Is a heck of a teammate.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Man like that, you know what I'm saying, Like, that's
the brother you want commenting on you when something's going on.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I mean, he here's one thing he said.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
For people to sit here and try to discredit to
it and say it's not deserving of a contract is
wild to me. A lot of guys on the team
understand his value and understand that we need him, We
need his leadership, we need a mindset that he brings
into each and every week.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It's there. It's like terminator almost. Man.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
I feel like he should be one of the highest
paid quarterbacks in the league. That's a teammate for you
all right, very different than who was it for the Cowboys?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Money.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Juxtaposed that with Malik Hooker, you said, podcasting, Michael Right,
Let Michael wait his turn, but anyway, Tyreek wants him
to get paid. And on the other end of the spectrum, Uh,
the Athletic polled, No, it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
The Athletic was.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
ESPN Jeremy Fowler right polled several NFL executives and coaches,
about eighty of.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Them, and.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
They ranked their top ten quarterbacks and Tua was not there.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
He was nowhere to be found. Uh. And so where
are you at?

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I'm gonna tell you where I'm at, and then I
want to hear your opinion, and longtime listeners of the
show know where I'm at on tour.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I like Tua. I think he's a solid quarterback.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
If I were the Miami Dolphins, I would not be
ready to pay him yet. I would not be ready
to give him a two hundred million dollar contract or
what you know, whatever it would end up being. Because
Number one, because I am not fully convinced. I'm sorry

(04:06):
for those that are offended by this, but I'm not
fully convinced that my man can stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I mean he's had one fully healthy season in four
years in the NFL. It's not enough not for.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Me to give you all this guaranteed money. So that's
number one. I want to see you stay healthy this
year too. And then number two, Tua has struggled against
great competition. He was one in six last year against

(04:48):
playoff teams. And it's not just that they lost because
some people would look at their defense as they were
they gave up more points.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Tua's numbers pull plummet against good competition, plummet.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
So I want to see you produce against some of
the big.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Boys, all right before I pony up all this money.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
And then he is Martin.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
I know he's we know he's from Hawaii, but my
man is oh and six.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
When there's a breeze out.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Forty five, I mean forty five degrees isn't exactly freezing
forty five degrees and under Tua is oh and six.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
That's not what I need because in.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
The playoffs, good chance you're gonna play in some cold weather.
And so those are things I need for Tua to
improve on and show me before I give him the
huge money, especially especially when I enfranchise it.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
So I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I get to his thoughts of yo, it's time to
pay a brother, and I'd be happy for him personally
if he got paid, but from a business standpoint, if
I'm the Dolphins, not yet.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
For me, this contract gets done after one conversation. Steven
Ross needs to sit down with Mike McDaniel and Chris
Greer and asked Mike, while he's sitting there in his
off white brand new Air Force ones and his pants
to show off his ankles.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Right, ask him, is it you or is it Tua? Right?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Is it you or is it Tua? Can you do
this with another guy? And if Mike McDaniel says anything
but it's Tua, it's time not rip that paper up.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
We're not offering him the contract done that, don't you think?

Speaker 4 (07:00):
I think that's probably the conversation, man, I have already happened,
which is why we're in the situation we're in now
with the Miami quarterback.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Right.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
That's what I think is that is to me, is
that's the conversation he used to be had. And I
think that you probably had a similar one with less
need and the la co Sean McVay. Right, Sean McVay said,
is it you or is it golf? And he said, no, no, no,
it's me. You go get me this guy, Matthew Stafford,

(07:27):
I'll bring you back a ring. If Mike so, then whatever,
Mike me Daniel says that's the answer. And I think
that Michael Daniel is probably saying, it's me.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
It's me.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
I'm drawing this up. I'm making him look great now. Yeah,
and if he's go ahead, I'll just try if I'm
tour Don't get me wrong, I'm doing all of this.
I'm saying I want the market value. I want the
sixty million. I'm looking at like, give me. You know,
I'm up there. I'm sitting there the same way that
Dak Prescott is and brock Party should in a couple

(07:59):
of years from now.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
But what I'm telling let me let's stay there because
and I talked about this because.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
The reporting seems to be that the Dolphins are willing
to pay him something. Right, it's not market value, it's
not fifty million plus are they willing to get it?
Seems they may be willing to give him somewhere between
forty five and fifty. Now I get to it being like, YO,
pay a brother. The market rate is fifty five million, that's.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
What I want.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Look at my numbers, check my stats against Jared Goff
and so on and so forth.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Right, But.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
And I'm just thinking out loud because I get to
a wanting as much money as he could get. But Martin,
here's the thing. If you're to a do you sit back,
does a party you say, you know what they're offering me.
Let's just throw out forty seven million a year. Let's

(09:02):
just say that's what it is. I'm in a great situation.
I'm in a warm weather city. That's a great city.
I got a phenomenal offensive coach. I've got phenomenal receivers.
I got very good running backs. I mean, I can

(09:24):
stay here and put up numbers. And I mean, I'm
not gonna admit this to the Dolphins, but I'm injury prone.
I have only had one healthy season. I'm like talking,
and you look in the mirror toa this is what
you're saying to yourself.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Sure, so why don't I lock up.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
For what a four or five year you know, two
hundred and twenty million dollar deal? You know whatever it
would end up being. Why don't I lock up all
this money just in case I get hurt. And we're
gonna talk about this, but it's kind of to me
what Jalen Brunson did.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Jalon said, you know what, let me a bird in
the hand is better.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Than two in the bush. And so what do you
think about that? I mean to me, that is legitimate
if you're tua to say, right, maybe I'll take the
forty seven million per or you know, say, assuming they're
offering somewhere around there as security, because if I get hurt,
if I get another concussion, my career and certainly big

(10:36):
time paydays are in jeopardy.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Now I agree with that in terms of if he
gets another concussion, his career is in jeopardy and he
probably should retire, to be.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Honest, if he does get another one.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Here's the problem, though, Chris, in a world we're thirty
six year old, Kirk Cousins just got one hundred and
eighty million dollars one hundred million guaranteed at thirty six
with the torn Achilles, and what one playoff win if

(11:09):
I'm too I gotta get to market. I gotta get
to market because somebody's going But.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Kirk, I mean for a thirty six or year old
off an injury, of course, but still it was only
forty five million.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
But that's what I Sessance can argue.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
He's better than some of these guys that got paid more.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
But christ for if kirk Cousins is making forty five million,
you're about to pay me forty seven if I'm to it.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
No, I'm going to market. I'm going to market now.
But it ultimately lys where I have questions about what
you say.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Is that, like you said, somebody you know, I'm going
out like that, that's gonna get paid.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Sure to it will, I think too. It will get
paid as well, but not like that much.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I don't think two is resetting the market no matter
where he goes. So it depends on that if he
really likes his situation or not, whether or not he's
willing to take you.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I mean you might. You might be upset that they
seem to be doubting you, right, I think that's the
number one reason. But where are you going Where you're
gonna get better? A better set of wide receivers. You're
not a better run game, a better play.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Caller, Like really, you're not getting a better set of
wide receivers between Waddle and Tyreek Hill more than like
if not, if they're not the best, their top three
exist one, yeah it doesn't exist. So but it all
depends on again kind of just like Jalen Brunson, It
depends on how much do you like it here? And
how much did this negotiation period? You know, bother you right?

(12:41):
How much did did did you? Because the reporter, this
tool wants to reset the market, right.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
And sometimes you just sometimes, man, you have to put
your ego aside.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
I mean, Patrick.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Mahomes, come on, who should be paid more than him?
He not concerned about I gotta be the highest paid
guy the league.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
But he also has a contract that will have him
locked up through like twenty thirty one at this point.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
As he should.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
I'm not saying saying, like you're talking about forty five
million a year. Yeah, but he's like, I can take
a cut on the average annual value because the total
value is dwarfing a lot of these guys with the
average anuals.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Any of these dudes they keep playing long now, they
don't have the twelve years. But you know what I'm saying,
Like they're gonna make that money if they keep playing.
I just you know, obviously Tom Brady didn't always take
as much as he could have gotten, And I'm not
gonna tell too.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I'm not gonna count his pockets.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
If he holds out for the sixty million or whatever,
they're fine, But I think that's something he definitely needs
to look at, Martin.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
It's a decision he's gotta make.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
But if in fact he does want to maximize his earnings,
I'd go to market because somebody will fork over fifty
five million dollars for a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
At this point, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Sure they gonna do that for Tua because in addition
to the injuries, you've got the questions about, well, how
great is he?

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Right? So it's a lot for him to think about.
But sure we will continue.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
There's lots to talk about, so keep it locked. This
the akable Chris and Martin. Weis and for Rob Parker.

All right, Martin, we were talking about Tua and whether
or not you know, if indeed the Dolphins are offering
him a contract that's below market value for like franchise quarterbacks,

(15:48):
should he take it in light of his injury history,
and in light of the fact that he's in a
phenomenal situation, like there's nowhere Martin, there are teams better
than the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
We all know that.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
I can't think of a better situation for him. Great
play caller, great ride, receivers, very good running backs, warm weather, like,
can you think of one place?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I mean, San Francisco's, I guess would be a rival.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
And here's the thing, Because a lot of people will
compare Tua and Rock Party. And for the record, in
that article where Jeremy Fowler Pole eighty coaches and executives,
Purdy was not in the top ten either. And because
a lot of people say about him what they say

(16:42):
about Ta, which is, look at the receivers, look at
the play caller, Kyle Shanahan, Mike McDaniel, look at the
running back Christian McCaffrey, and all of that's true. But
I like Purty better than Tua because Purdy has shown

(17:02):
he can come back, he can overcome adversity. He has
played well versus good teams. He has played well in
the playoffs and in the Super Bowl. Not like phenomenal,
but he played well in the Super Bowl, well enough
for them to win. He left the field with the league,
you know, and Tua has yet to do that. So

(17:24):
I think Purdy has proven a little more than Tua has.
But I kind of brought that up to reference this
next situation, and it's Jalen Brunson, who we mentioned in
talking about TOA. To me, he everybody's look, he took
a four year, one hundred and fifty six zero point
five million dollar contract extension.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Had he waited until.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Next summer after this season, he would have been able
to get one hundred and thirteen million dollars more, okay,
And a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Are talking about it like, oh, look at the solid
he did.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
The Knicks, took less money, kept them under the second
apron so.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
They could win, and blah blah blah blah blah, and that.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
I don't know what his motives were, but I think
his motive may have been like I talked about with too,
and he hasn't Jalen hasn't been injury prone.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
But Jaylen's been in the league six years.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Martin weis, yep, has not gotten a huge money yet, right. Remember,
he took a deal that at the time seemed like
a lot when the Knicks game.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
In four years, one hundred million, I promise I loved it.
At the moment, I was like no, for both sides.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
I thought it was a little bit of I mean,
it wasn't an overpayment, but I just I did not
expect this from Brunton, did you.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
I thought that he was going to be a really
good player. I thought he had it.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
I thought he had every capability to be a really
good player when you saw him. And remember, Chris Jalen
Brunson has ripped my heart on a few times as
a Michigan Wolverine. So I was on him at billing
Ov like This's Nova Knicks team is one that I
find it hard to root for, just because the way
that destroyed Michigan the National Championship game. But I thought
that he showed to me when he had opportunities that

(19:09):
he was a big time player when Luca was out
in that playoff series, and the way that he was
attacking at that time, to think the two or three
time defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and the
size everything, the way he was able to keep him
on his moves.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
I've been a big fan of Jailer Brothers for a
long time.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I thought he would play well. But I did not
foresee this, that's for sure. But anyway, I think he said,
like I said, I've been in the league six years.
I haven't gotten a huge money yet. I've only had
and I look, he may not have had these thoughts.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I'm just telling you what I see.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
I've had two great seasons in six years in the league. Yep,
I'm six feet tall, right, I'm playing for a coach
who is known to wear his players down.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Man, let me get this money, let me lock it up.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
And I thought, and we talked, Rob and I talked
about it, you know, when it became a big story
about what he should should do a month or so ago,
and I said, you know what, I know, the temptation
to go get that money.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Now, get the security, because you could get hurt. Timms
could run you into the ground.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
I and you and in four years, who knows if
you'll still be this level of player. But I was,
I was saying I would bet on myself, I would
play this year out and sign that huge contract next year.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
But I'm not mad at him. I think that's what
he did, Martin.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
I think it was more about security, which I understand
he's set for life now, sure more so than let
me just take less to help the Knicks out.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Well, also too, like taking less is a competitive advantage
at this point when you consider the different Apron costs,
but leave out a side. The idea that Jalen Brunson
just volunteerily left one hundred and thirteen million dollars on
the on the floor is one that's not really true
because well.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Okay, it's one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
He would have been eligible for more. But that's considering
that this next. I expect the Knicks to have about
at at minimum a ninety five game season next year,
considering the regular season in postseason, right at minimum, I
think the next will go through the first round, probably
being the first second round of the playoffs, competing for
a conference championship, if not an NBA championship, right, but

(21:38):
competing for a conference championship for sure. What happens then,
what happens if he gets hurt dying that stretch, Then
he left all of this money that he could have took,
right then, he left all of that on the ground,
He left all.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Of that bet. It was this he did.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
And here's the thing, people have to remember, Rob g
that would have been a five year deal.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Next year it.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Would have been five yet, so really he's signing a
four year extension. He's gonna get that money that he
would have get gotten in the fifth year, at least
some of it, right, Some of it is just the.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Fact that it's gonna be a longer contract.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
But anyway, look, I think it was about being secure
and like you said, in case he does get hurt
at any point, you know, next season, even if it's
in the playoffs, go ahead and lock up the loot
right now? All right, Funky Cole madea's around the corner.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
I am doing well. I'm wondering what streak's gonna be broken?
My ability the boy the casinosn't lose money, or Bronnie
James is hitting a three to night.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Oh, Mark did it from the top rope Wow, that's
a good question.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
So let's start there.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
So I was going, I was wondering if you were
there in Vegas, obviously you are.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
What do you think? I mean, what are people saying?

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Obviously I feel like Mark Now, obviously when he got drafted,
you did have some people, you know, being critical love him,
but for the most part, and you still have a
few critics out there, I think for the most part,
people are kind of treating Brianie with kid gloves. First
of all, tell me, do you think that's fair? And
what are they saying now after what is it now,

(23:44):
three games that he's played.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
Yeah, three games in one game in Vegas, I think
that you know what we've seen us, you know, for
better and for worse, and so far mostly for worse
what we expected. You know, people around the league are
having a lot of questions about his score inability and
his shot. They do give him credit for his defense
and his work ethic, and you know, I think it

(24:07):
was a welcome sign that he made it clear that
he'd be open to playing the G League. You know,
there was you know, mixed feelings around the league on
when Rich Paul was saying that Brownie wouldn't accept, you know,
a two way deal. Does that mean he didn't want
to go in the G League or does that just
mean he was trying to set his client up to

(24:28):
have a better deal as far as a guarantee contract goes.
And I think finn S Brawny made those comments. The
feeling around the league is it was more for the
contract part, and they do have some relative comfort that
Brownie's at least willing to play in the G League,
because reality is the only way he's going to get
better is by playing as many similar league games, many

(24:48):
preseason games, and as many games in general. But if
you're not willing to play in the G League, you're
not going to get that kind of time. Because I
just don't see him being able to crack the regular
season rotation on consistent basis.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
No, I mean absolutely not, not at this point.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
But talking about the rotation, I want to talk about
a little team USA, marcause I know you're plugged in
over there. Joelle Embiid has looked human. I'll put it
like that over the last two games, right, Yeah, I
don't want to be smart. A guy who was the
NBA MVP and when he was healthy this year was

(25:27):
literally averaging more points than minutes played. But will we
see joe Lebie come off the bench and the next
exhibition if he continues to play like this, like when
do you think that move is happening?

Speaker 2 (25:40):
If it happens at all.

Speaker 6 (25:42):
Yeah, Well, Steve Kurst for Warren, the his starting lineups
are going to be fluwid regardless though I wouldn't be
surprised if he does come off the bench. And I think,
weirdly enough, I don't want to fit's to their benefit.
They need Joel to play better. They need him to
get used to the feever rules, adjusting how not to
get into foul trouble because he can only get five.

(26:04):
But in a way, because of his struggles, that might
actually reinforce the need for him to be in the
starting lineup because he can you know, take care of
stay in the physical tone and taking care of fouls
and you know, buying time for Anthony Davis and by
him Outabayo to come back. But the problem is they
recruited Joel Embiid to play for Tbusa and not France,

(26:27):
not Cameron because they knew in the FEBA World Cup
they had a size disadvantage. They need you know, even
in today's NBA they need a big man because that's
how the FOBA game is, or that there's a lot
of big players. So I suspect that Joel Embiid will
get this out of his system, and it's just a
product of familiarity with how the FOBA game's played in
russ But it is a disconcerting sign that he's pinned

(26:50):
this offul.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
What there's a lot of talk about he's not healthy.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
There always seems to be that talk with him b
but that he's not healthy.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
And so we've got Kevin Durant who's got the cash
stream and Mark.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
I'm sitting here thinking, well, if Nb's not healthy, sit
out and get healthy.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
If Durant Durant obviously isn't healthy.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Why risk playing when I don't think they need him
to win gold? Why risk playing and then possibly miss
the start of the season with the Suns? Like why
not just get healthy and be ready for the NBA season?

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Like I'm fine with the.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Players in general playing and if you get hurt, you
get hurt.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
But when you're already hurt.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
I'm kind of saying, well, why are they playing guys
that are hurt and putting their PA season in Jeopardy.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Chris. Look, it's all for questions and this ties into
Kawhi Leonard, you know, being sent home because of their
dry concern. I will say this. We're always humbled with
you know how much teams and players hide or exaggerate
medical results. But at least from what I guess, I
don't get the impression that Joe el Embiide is hurt.

(28:03):
You know, it might be one thing that he's trying
to get back into rhythm after missing some time, but
I don't think that he's dealing currently with an injury
now as a ptic.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
I think it can be using an excuse for him.
But people saying, oh, he's not healthy healthy yet.

Speaker 6 (28:19):
I haven't heard that. And I and when I saw
him practice at TMUSA, I didn't think, oh he looked cobbled.
I just thought he's trying to get used to gain
into a rhythm. As for Kevin Durant, for what it's worth,
the reason why they're still keeping things is they characterized
his cap injury as mild at this point in day
to day. The reason why they're going with it still

(28:41):
it's Kevin Durant. I mean I remember talking to Tyler
last week and he made the remark about Durant. Yeah, hey,
without him, we wouldn't have won gold in Tokyo against
France and get that gold medal. I mean, that's how
important he is. He's Kevin Durant. But with Tusa is
there all time lead score. Him and Lebron had the

(29:02):
most familiarity. So when we're talking about you know, Joel
Embiid and maybe other players trying to with justin Fiba,
Lebron and Kevin Durant are the equalizers with that, not
just because of their obvious talent, but because of their
you know, experience playing the international game. But yeah, it's
it's wild to say the least.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
Now, Mark, one thing I was curious about you talk
about sending the guys home due to injury. Kawhi Leonard
did get sent home, but apparently the Clippers wanted him
to stay.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Like, how did these reports work?

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Because last week it was everybody's on board with him
going home and Tyler was obviously there on the bench,
And today Clippers president comes out and says we.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Wanted him to play any Olympics And you make sense
of this?

Speaker 6 (29:42):
For Lo Lo me, Yeah, I'm trying to make sense
of it. None of it makes sense because USA Basketball
have been collaborating with the Clippers, you know, with practice
and how they're using Kawhi. I mean, Lawrence Frank and
other Coopers Brass were viewing practice. You know, Steve I
had mentioned, you know, his first week he was able

(30:04):
to do every grill without any restrictions, including scrimmaging. But
you know, there was a process for him to get
into rhythm because he had been out for a while
with his you know, right, knee inflammation, and so I'm
it's very hard for me to believe that USA Basketball
made a decision that was against the Clippers wishes, right.

(30:25):
I mean, it's one thing if the Clippers are you know,
the role it was a roller versial, or the Clippers
are being up in angs and saying, hey, you got
to be careful. In USA Basketball is thinking he's fine.
But they acquiesced because hey, you know, he plays for
the Clippers. They want him healthy for the NBA season.
But I find it hard to believe that would be

(30:46):
the opposite of the USA Basketball would just send him
home even if he was healthy. I mean, he's Kawhi
Leonard at the end of the day when he's healthy,
he's a top five player, And even though they have
a fully stack roster, they don't want to leave anything
on turn because if they lose gold in this Olympics,
that would be qualified as a disaster because they have
their best guys. Even though the Global Games coron the

(31:10):
US is talent and experience is just has so much separation.
So yeah, I'm just not buying any of it. I
can't prove it, but it doesn't pass the smell test mark.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
In thirty seconds before you go, Dalton Connect, he's had
some nice games. How excited are the Lakers about him
maybe being a guy that can play this year?

Speaker 6 (31:30):
Well, look, that's probably besides keeping Max Kirsty. The only
positive offseason news so far Dalton Connect with a steal
in the draft. He already fulfills positional needs because he's
a great shooter. I've seen in Summer League he can
be a good playmaker, even a good defender of positions
two for three. So for better and for worse, the
Lakers view him as someone that will get rotation minutes

(31:51):
because he already can provide immediate impact with the shooters.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
All right, that's our man.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Funky cole, Mark Medina, great stuff as always, brother, enjoy Vegas.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Hey, don't lose your money out there.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Hey, if you gonna make Mark, if you're gonna make
a bet, take an under on Brownie.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
There you go. That looks like a retirement plan right now.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
Alright, go, we'll see if I can keep the streak going.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
All right, my man, peace bro Martin Weiss has a
strong take.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
He wants to see a reunion. That's next a couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

(32:58):
tire buying should be, Martin Weiss.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Aaron Rodgers has not been shy about.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
His desire for a reunion with Davonte Adams. Now Davante
is stuck in as Rob Parker would say, football Siberia.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Obviously not the same weather. But right now the Raiders
are in the duldrums, right the football Sahara.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Donell as there, Yeah, yeah, you can call it that.
If you want football desert. No one to throw him
the football.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
And you're saying that you think it should happen.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
I said, this is the two calls. I think the
Raiders need to make. One of two calls. The first
call i'd make. To be clear, if I'm the Raiders
and Antonio Pierce, I'm calling Jerry Jones, and I said,
I have no problem paying Dak Prescott fifty eight million
dollars a year like you seem to what's the trade.
Let's talk it out. Could get me a quarterback because
I need a quarterback. And I selfishly kind of hope

(33:59):
Antonio here, you're not waiting until the off season. You're
trying to get back now. We're trying to him now,
training camp about to start. Come on, we'll get you
that new deal. Come on, Todd Franz, we'll get you
that new deal. Come on out to Vegas. You know
what I'm saying, no income tax. If that call doesn't happen,
I would tell Davonte Adams to tell Aaron Rodgers to

(34:22):
tell that Jets brain trust and say, hey, I want
Davonte make it happen. Because the entire reason that the
New York Jets staff in general is still employed is
because Aaron Rodgers Torre's Achilles on the fourth player of
the season.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Like, that's really to me, the only reason.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
If they had the same season they had right now,
like last season with the healthy Aaron Rodgers the whole time,
same win and loss, Right, everybody be fired. I believe
that wholeheartedly. They just said, look, we already determined we
can't win with Zach Wilson. Then after the fact when
he was out there, they were like, all right, we're
just gonna this year is a mulligan. They just gave

(35:03):
the whole europe as a mulligan on the fourth play
of the year on Thursday Night football.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
We all saw it. Right.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
I will call the Jets and try to get everything
I can out of them for DeVante Adams and try
to build a new foundation for my football team from
the Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
If I can't get that Prescott, no, that makes sense,
because you're right, I don't.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
If I can't get a good quarterback, then I don't
need to be paying Devonte Adams huge money. Now are
they thinking, let's try to do you know, San Francisco
and you know, put a bunch of talent out there,

(35:48):
and then maybe a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Can he a no name quarterback? Can he merge for us?
Maybe that's the thinking. But I don't see.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
That guy in Vegas right now. And we know what
Gardner Minshew is. She's a really good backup, right Gardner
Minshew will have his moments, but he's not going to
be a great quarterback period.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
So I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
I think that makes sense. And the thing is for
the Jets, this is super Bowl or bust. Not that
they're I don't think they're a super Bowl contender. I
think they're a playoff contender. But for them, their mentality,
Martin needs to be it's all about winning it. It

(36:34):
is all about winning the big win. Our quarterback's forty
freaking years old. This isn't about the future. Nope, this
is not a five year plan. And if we don't
have a great season, like probably, if they don't make
the playoffs, there will be a new regime. Brother Roger
Stays or not it'll probably be a new regime, and

(36:57):
so yeah, I mean, they do need to try to
make it happen.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
It'd be a lot of fun. It'd be a heck
of a lot of fun if they could do that.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
I mean, especially if they can hold on to Garrett
Wilson along the way.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Oh yeah, I wouldn't be Look, I love Garrett Wilson.
I love Mike Williams when he's healthy. So you add,
I'm thinking adding Devonte to that, I am definitely not.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Yeah, I'm not trying to give up Garrett Wilson.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
I mean, I'm not saying Davante's not better, and obviously
he's got the history with Rogers. But man, Garrett Wilson,
that boy's nice. Yeah, I'm thinking you're holding on to
Garret Wilson. You're holding on to DeVonta Adams.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
If I'm the Raiders, I'm asking back for your twenty
twenty six first rounder, and then let's have a conversation
about how many other picks I can get out of you,
because I do think that the Jets eventually will be
a failed disaster. Devanta Adams and Las Vegas is already
a disaster.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
I know you probably didn't watch Netflix, but it was ugly.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
All right. It is the odd couple. More hard Wei's
in for Rob Parker. Keep it Lot, Fox Sports Radio,
