Harnen just doesn't play well in big games. In these
big games, and and the history the playoffs period is there.

I mean, there's no denying it. It's just unbelievable. How
a guy who was so prolific at one time when
he was with the.

Rocket prolific doubt, I mean, one of the it was
ridiculous of weapons I've ever seen.

I agree, And I remember seeing him in the early stage.

that year that they ran to the finals and then
they lost, I thought to myself, my god, who is
this guy?

and before you know he's in the Hall of Fame.

I would say no, is that there's gotta be more
than just compiling numbers. Okay, because numbers are important, but
it should also be in context. That's why teams. Guys
who play on bad teams would just score a lot
of points. They don't get any recognition because you know,
a you're not winning and be somebody has to score

So that's just not enough. And if you're putting James Harden,
who hadn't done anything so to speak, even at one

with the Rockets when they would miss twenty seven straight threes,
I don't know how many he missed in that Remember
that twenty seventh straight yep? That Like that's Jane Harden's
career almost like that one sequence or stretch there which
sums it up. And my own point is, if James
Harden goes in with this abysmal postseason albatross hanging on

his net, where do you actually put into people who
actually have played well and have won you know what
I mean, and scored when their points again matter.

There needs to be a hall of like a hall
of fame in the Hall of Fame, like like all right,
everybody's inn with this wing here.

Do you know what I'm saying? Like that, Like that's
what a Hall of Famer should be. And I've said
this to you with baseball.

if I have to debate your career, you're not a
Hall of Famer to me.

should be of that ilk if I have to debate, well,
you know, if he would have had a good coach, well,
if he would have had a good robin, well, if
he would have had uh this or that, or he
had a better owner and they got a better generalman,
like you could make the sit that case for a
lot of people, and you should be like, like, what

would be what would what would James harden? Your push
or your reason to put him in standing on? What?
What exactly did he do that separated him from his
peers during his time playing? And I can't come up
with anything other than having his jersey retired at a
strip club. Other than that, I don't know of anything.

would get him in your Hall of Fame.

I thought it would be in dispute like we are

is the stupidest convo ever that you would automatically have
him in there if we were.

Taking, of course a groundbreaking moment, but not in basketball.

We did this with Carmelo, and I think they're similar
in that their offensive.

Yeah, But while Carmelo on his same just NBA mayor
not the Olympics and not obviously a national title run.
So those things for one hundred percent put him in
the difference. For me, why I'm more even more in
favor of James Hard a couple of reasons. One one
of the things we're saying, Okay, Carmelo has a bunch
of All Star appearances, and I think maybe he had
won all NBA. James Harden has seven All NBAS seven.

He's also a three time scoring champ, and this is
the kind of the separator two time assist champs, so
that means you are a scar machine and you'll be
dropping dimes. He was also a sixth Man of the Year.
He was a one time MVP. Carmelo was never an MVP,
and we all know he could have had one or

two more like that's how good he was. There was
a five to six year period where if he was MVP,
every one of those usually.

I mean, I can't be mad at that.

He has a bunch of playoff appearances, and so it
means like he wasn't just good and teams were terrible.
He was always in the playoffs. He just had shortcomings
in the playoffs. I agree with that he left a
lot to be desired. I ain't lying about that. Okay,
let me give you this, you I would agree.

Harden has thirty five three five thirty five career playoff
games with less than four buckets made. They just listen
to what I just told you, Not ten game, not five.

Thirty five game. Is that dubious?

I'm hanging on. Okay, that's dubious. All right, here we
go here his receding hairline. Right now, I'm hanging on
by thread.

Harden has scored fewer than twenty points in twelve of
his twenty six career elimination games, including seven of his
last thirteen. For context, I'll give you that Lebron, Steph
and KD have done it twice and it combined, right,

sixty games, sixty elimination game. Just think about that. Those
three guys have scored fewer than twenty points twice combine
combined in sixty in six zero eliminate.

He's done it.

Twelve times in twenty six eleven. Just think about that.
That's crazy. But here's the thing that's my vote against.
So he is in, and he would be in the
you are Hall of Famer. Wing tie game by the
Knicks just tied the game.

Crazy they're on like a thirty two to six run
or something crazy right now, Celtics should be ashamed of themselves.
This is what happens when you miss threes. And the
Celtics are an amazing team. Twelve for forty seven to
go right there, and this is what happens, and now
you forgot how to get other shots.

Look at him. They don't even know how to get
offense right now.

Without threes, struggle bus, struggle bus, they best around and
lose a game. So, but James Harden has done too
much for me not to call them Hall of Famer,
a Hall of the disappointment in the playoffs without a doubt,
that goes.

The only other issue I have with the flip side
of this is so then guys like Robert Lorri, Derek
Fisher or you know, Jimmy Butler, Guys like that need
to be in the Hall of Fame.

Body of work isn't good enough, they weren't Robert right,
So how many times it was Robert Orry first team?

He was a bench is my guy, and I don't
think he should be in.

I'm not arguing that, but what I'm saying is if
we're gonna just divide, like all right, here's postseason, it's
your count.

Regulars it should count.

But I'm just saying that'll know, you made a couple
of shots in the postseason, but you were a bench
player your whole career. Are you don't make any first
team All NBA's or you know what I mean, Like
you didn't win an MVP. You never let like like, no,
it has to be really good regular great great regular season,
and then moments not James Harden has to win ten

championships moment he has failed you.

He's literally in my lifetime. And you know how much
I've watched Jordan Kareem, you know two three other guys
as far as what Steph Curry, as far as just
an exposive weapons like not just all guy can score.
There's plenty of guys who can score. There, Dominique Wilkins
and Bernard King is a bunch of guys, but just
an offensive weapon man. He might be the best of

his generation in that regard. And I can't not put
that guy who is could have been an MVP two three,
four times in the Hall of Fame.

I mean, I didn't think much of it, honestly, I
thought a lot more about the season ends. And two
nights later, you see Rob Polinka, JJ Reddick, Luka, Doncic
and his business manager and chief brand officer Lara Beth
Seeger leaving a restaurant together because you know, they just.

Had this meeting two nights after the season.
Speaker 8 (25:02):
Ended, having a strategy dinner, and it just I think
shows that the Lakers know. Look, the season ended terribly
for them, huge disappointment. They thought they could make I
don't know if they thought they could win at all,
but they thought they could make a run.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
A lot of people to the finals, a lot of MBA.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
They didn't make any kind of run. But the reality
is this season they still pulled off an absolute heist.
And you heard Rob Blink at the press conference on
Thursday talking about you know, they're already talking in terms
of Luca and the next decade of Laker basketball and

to ensure that you just you already see the Lakers
doing everything they can to have a really strong relationship
with their star player and this is his team. I mean,
that's really what I see. So you know, I'm not
you know, I takeaway really wasn't so much focused.

I mean, I'm just asking if Luca's fine and he's
gonna score his points, he's gonna give up forty on
the other end, and it's okay because you could still
go to the finals and win with that, Then why
even bother saying that?

Lebron is in great shape, so it can't be about Lebron,

his coaching. H yep, I thought he was awful and
coaching and I know it's his first year or whatever.
Does Lebron have years for JJ to get it right,
for him to work through the growing pains of a
of a of a new coach, or did you see
enough to think that JJ Redick is gonna be a
great coach or do you now have questions after seeing

the postseason coaching?

That's the thing, you know, he had such a good
first season, and then all the focus now is going
to be on what happened in the last two games,
because obviously playing you know, playing the same five guys
for the whole second half was was clearly a mistake,
and not getting any size on the floor against Rudy
Gobert that didn't work either. So I think everyone in

Lakerland is, you know, absorbing a lot of criticism right
now because the expectations are so high and the noise
is so much louder. And we'll see how JJ Reddick
responds to all that. But I guess what I'm trying
to say is, I don't I don't think even Lebron

I think even he sees it.

He is not the focus anymore. The focus is Luca
building a team around Luca. I think is the Lakers
focus from here? I mean, I think that's That's what

All Right, I'll get you, well, at least for me,
I want I want to come back to some other
some other serieses that we have. Denver is Denver back?
Are they filling in a good place? That was a
great series between the Clippers. Clippers have to be getting
Mike Malone, getting rid of Mike Malone. Obviously, you have
a new coach who was able to win a Game seven,
which is a huge But they look great in that

Game seven. What do you make a Denver movie forward?
Are they kind of a sleeper in this thing? We've
all kind of forgotten about them, but they're saying, hey,
don't forget about us. We're champion a couple of years ago.

It's a great achievement to win that series. Because that
was a tremendous series, probably the best one in the
first round, and the Clippers last twenty odd games of
the season, the Clippers really played better than anyone.

So to beat them as handily as they did in
Game seven, that is it's a significant achievement. I mean,
let's face it, David Adaman had won three NBA games
coming into the playoffs. They just won a Game seven
against the coach who had never lost the game seven.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
So I don't want to diminish that. But back are
the Nuggets back. Look, they have to play an absolute
monster in Oklahoma City. I mean, the only thing I guess,
I mean, this game one is pretty you know, there's
I can't see any scenario when with the Nuggets pulling
this one out. I mean, they're just, you know, they're
going to be exhausted for this. And the Thunder have

played all of I think five games in twenty two
days something like that, So it would take an extreme
case of rust for the Thunder to lose this game one.
But you know, we've we've probably underestimated how good this
Thunder team is. And ye now that they're now that
they're playing Denver in this you know, their first round

was a snooze. I mean that was just a you know,
that was an easy sweep for the Thunder. But no,
I mean Denver's hands are full, I guess, is what
I'm trying to say here in this second round.

as far as winning records in the first In the
regular season teams we just disrespect. We don't even bring

He bodies everyone. You don't set a pick and roll
where all of a sudden you got Jason Tatum or

Jaylen Brown with brunting on them. You did nothing else
but have everybody thirty feet outside of the basket. That's
terrible to not be able to adjust. You saw Steve
Kurr justin off saying, you know what, the Rockets are athletic,
they're strong, They're more athletic and more physical than us.
Guess what we're gonna do. They can't shoot to save
their lives. We're going his zone, you know what I mean.

He went z one with them. That's Mary's phone right there. Yeah,

there's no adjustment. I think I was really disappointed in
that that. At no point Joe Mozula said all right,

let's do on the offense. Then switch it up. That
was just terrible coaching. And he's gonna say that's all
we do. We just mis shots. I guarantee you we'll

You're in the Olympics, like they start adding on right,

that one made in college and yeah and all that,
and before you know he's in the Hall of Fame.

I would say no, is that there's gotta be more
than just compiling numbers. Okay, because numbers are important, but
it should also be in context. That's why teams. Guys
who play on bad teams would just score a lot
of points. They don't get any recognition because you know,
a you're not winning and be somebody has to score

Do you know it can't be one thirty five times us.

Somebody's got somebody right, somebody's got a score like this
is the game. So you can't look at that always
getting buckets, man, I don't know. The Wizards can't win

So that's just not enough. And if you're putting James Harden,
who hadn't done anything so to speak, even at one

with the Rockets when they would miss twenty seven straight threes,
I don't know how many he missed in that Remember
that twenty seventh straight yep? That Like that's Jane Harden's
career almost like that one sequence or stretch there which
sums it up. And my own point is, if James
Harden goes in with this abysmal postseason albatross hanging on

his net, where do you actually put into people who
actually have played well and have won you know what
I mean, and scored when their points again matter.

There needs to be a hall of like a hall
of fame in the Hall of Fame, like like all right,
everybody's inn with this wing here.

Do you know what I'm saying? Like that, Like that's
what a Hall of Famer should be. And I've said
this to you with baseball.

And with my vote.

I don't vote for any other Hall of Fame, just Baseball,
if I have to debate your career, you're not a
Hall of Famer to me.

should be of that ilk if I have to debate, well,
you know, if he would have had a good coach, well,
if he would have had a good robin, well, if
he would have had uh this or that, or he
had a better owner and they got a better generalman,
like you could make the sit that case for a
lot of people, and you should be like, like, what

would be what would what would James harden? Your push
or your reason to put him in standing on? What?
What exactly did he do that separated him from his
peers during his time playing? And I can't come up
with anything other than having his jersey retired at a
strip club. Other than that, I don't know of anything.

He was a one time MVP. Carmelo was never an MVP,
and we all know he could have had one or

a five to six year period where if he was MVP,
every one of those usually.

Ended, having a strategy dinner, and it just I think
shows that the Lakers know. Look, the season ended terribly
for them, huge disappointment. They thought they could make I

They didn't make any kind of run. But the reality
is this season they still pulled off an absolute heist.

doing everything they can to have a really strong relationship
with their star player and this is his team. I mean,
that's really what I see. So you know, I'm not

Lakerland is, you know, absorbing a lot of criticism right
now because the expectations are so high and the noise
is so much louder. And we'll see how JJ Reddick
responds to all that. But I guess what I'm trying

first round, and the Clippers last twenty odd games of
the season, the Clippers really played better than anyone.

Game seven, that is it's a significant achievement. I mean,
let's face it, David Adaman had won three NBA games
coming into the playoffs. They just won a Game seven
against the coach who had never lost the game seven.

So I don't want to diminish that. But back are
the Nuggets back. Look, they have to play an absolute
monster in Oklahoma City. I mean, the only thing I guess,
I mean, this game one is pretty you know, there's
I can't see any scenario when with the Nuggets pulling
this one out. I mean, they're just, you know, they're
going to be exhausted for this. And the Thunder have

played all of I think five games in twenty two
days something like that, So it would take an extreme
case of rust for the Thunder to lose this game one.
But you know, we've we've probably underestimated how good this
Thunder team is. And ye now that they're now that
they're playing Denver in this you know, their first round

was a snooze. I mean that was just a you know,
that was an easy sweep for the Thunder. But no,
I mean Denver's hands are full, I guess, is what
I'm trying to say here in this second round.

Joe Missoula is one of those coaches who's going they

there's no adjustment. I think I was really disappointed in
that that. At no point Joe Mozula said all right,

was just terrible coaching. And he's gonna say that's all
we do. We just mis shots. I guarantee you we'll

make their shot that game as we do.
