with Tom Brady and the Patriots, if he misses one
or two like Buffalo right, like that first miss field goal,
and the first four Super Bowls that the Bills went to,
it changes their whole history. People on talking about Tom

games in the Super Bowl with field goals, it's a
big part of it. Adam vanent Terio is one of
the best kickers, and that's why you gotta have players
like that in order to win big games. It's like
in baseball, I don't care the Yankees with all the

a debate that a guy shouldn't be in the Hall

very good fighter, still very relevant, still the king of

he's becoming a you know, side side show exactly. I

what it is with Mike. So it was like, all right,
it's a stupid but fine, a little fun on a
Friday night. This legitimately doesn't make sense coming off the
heels of the idea that we're all going to see
one of the better fights of the last decade in
Canelo and Crawford.

Okay, So let's assume that this fight doesn't get canceled
the way that the Crawford fight did. It does go
forward and made it goes the way we expect it.
Either Canelo literally kills him like you said, or they

up getting the Canelo Crawford fight in September at Allegiance

and of himself, because but I'm saying the Floyd Mayweather
of box like how he changed boxing is gonna be

helped mentor when he was sixteen and so old. And

Yeah yeah, and Rob, like what you just said is
the power of this mission, right, And and Jona Sacks
he said it well, like, man, I need to bring
you on, spokesperson. I don't even do right right, right, man,
But listen, so you're talking about over we just celebrated
one hundred and twenty years right to be in the mission.
But when you think about it, right and beyond hit
on it, right, you got thirty thousand kids that's out

there that's looking for mentors. Most of those kids are boys,
and most of those boys are boys of color, right,
who are looking for male mentors, and particularly mend Yeah.
But here's the thing, and I always want to tell
people this because anytime I say that, I want to
make sure I put contact to that.

Right. Over the last four years.

The fastest growing population of people who raise their hand
to volunteer and our mission have been men have been men.

Of color, specifically, right.

So when you roll out the welcome at right, when
they hear voices, when they can identify with people. That's
why it's so important that you have people life who
cares that can help get this message out because when
they hear it and they know it, they're going to
get involved. We're engage, and that's what we want. People
who are listening to have that same type of feeling
to say, you know what, I can do this. It
doesn't take a lot of time. I can get engaged.

But you know what, when I do it, not only
do I hope a kid get better, I get better
because I'm involved in it.

And I say this all the time. You can make
time for anything you want to make time.

Great fact, so people, whenever I hear that, I'm like, dude, I've.

Been mentoring and doing all that career. You know I can.

Vouch both he and I.

One of the things we take seriously of our responsibility
to mentor and bring up and you can see.

Especially in this business, you know what I mean.

And you can see the trail of him, like I
literally some of my best friends are guys that he
mentored twenty twenty five years ago, and you can just
see it, and it's reciprocated him.

He got en trying in the NABJ Hall of Famer
surrounded by all the guys he had been mentoring. And
I take that same thing with myself back in la
same thing, same type of mindset.

Last point I'll make is that people feel as well,
why me, right, I'm just a ex I'm not running
back in the NFL.

It's like, no, you matter.

every single week, matters, no matter no matter who you're
going up against. But you know, I think we have

you know, well enough leaders now to know, like you know,
we we gotta we got to prepare it the same
way for every single team, whether it's the Saints and
it's the must win game, or if it's if it's
the I mean, the Giants, It doesn't matter who it is, man, Like,
you gotta you gotta make sure that you're locked in.

So I think that's that was a big thing for us.
That's a big learned lesson for us.

starting to get hard to pass the football because quarterbacks
aren't having the time to see things develop and and
to see things like downfield because you got a minimum

elite run game, then you're dominating to let the defenders

and let the defensive ends kind of like wait and
see what happens. Because I mean, when you have a
guy that can run the football super well and you
have a good offensive line, then it's it's pretty much
hard to stop, Like it's endless to stop.

has been awesome.

You know, I'm a firm believer in having mentors, and
you know we're trying to launch is that you know,
the Big Draft campaign and trying to get those ten
thousand mentors to help thirty thousand kids, which is you know,
extreme and which is awesome because every single one of
these kids need somebody, needs somebody. And for me, like
as a kid, like I've always had mentors in my
life and I've always had coaches. Uh, you know, my

dad just all these people that are that I that
I respect and that's helped me throughout my journey and
that's you know, made me the man that I am today.

So you know, it's been it's been just such a.
Speaker 11 (25:38):
Blessing to me, Artists and and and to me all
these great people here that have been changing the world.
Really like you know, he he doesn't have to do
this like he can do He can do anything else
in his in his time, and what he wants to
do is help people out, help kids out, and see
just a bigger vision of what we're trying to do,
especially like us as like black men, like it's even
more of an unachieved for us to do something like

that for it for everybody. So it's been a great
partnership with them.

Artist knows this because I told the story. Artists has
been with us on the ID couple a few times.
And I had a big, big brother in Cincinnati.

I was one.

I was a sports writer covering the Cincinnati Reds and
you know, and I was like, I want to make
sure that I reach out to the community. I just
didn't want to take from the community to come there,
nice job doing my thing and then bounce when the
time comes and I met a young man, Antonio, and
this was a few years ago, and our relationship, you know,
for many, many years, to the point when I went

back that.

Two years ago I met his son.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
Oh you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
And it was just like, this was a guy I
helped mentor when he was sixteen and so old. And
to see it means a lot. And big brother's big says,
you know, it's dear near and dear.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
To my heart.
Speaker 12 (26:51):
Yeah yeah, and Rob, like what you just said is
the power of this mission, right, And and Jona Sacks
he said it well, like, man, I need to bring
you on, spokesperson. I don't even do right right, right, man,
But listen, so you're talking about over we just celebrated
one hundred and twenty years right to be in the mission.
But when you think about it, right and beyond hit
on it, right, you got thirty thousand kids that's out
(27:13):
there that's looking for mentors. Most of those kids are boys,
and most of those boys are boys of color, right,
who are looking for male mentors, and particularly mend Yeah.
But here's the thing, and I always want to tell
people this because anytime I say that, I want to
make sure I put contact to that.
Speaker 8 (27:29):
Right. Over the last four years.
Speaker 12 (27:31):
The fastest growing population of people who raise their hand
to volunteer and our mission have been men have been men.
Speaker 8 (27:38):
Of color, specifically, right.
Speaker 12 (27:40):
So when you roll out the welcome at right, when
they hear voices, when they can identify with people. That's
why it's so important that you have people life who
cares that can help get this message out because when
they hear it and they know it, they're going to
get involved. We're engage, and that's what we want. People
who are listening to have that same type of feeling
to say, you know what, I can do this. It
doesn't take a lot of time. I can get engaged.
(28:00):
But you know what, when I do it, not only
do I hope a kid get better, I get better
because I'm involved in it.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
And I say this all the time. You can make
time for anything you want to make time.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
Great fact, so people, whenever I hear that, I'm like, dude, I've.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Been mentoring and doing all that career. You know I can.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
Vouch both he and I.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
One of the things we take seriously of our responsibility
to mentor and bring up and you can see.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Especially in this business, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
And you can see the trail of him, like I
literally some of my best friends are guys that he
mentored twenty twenty five years ago, and you can just
see it, and it's reciprocated him.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
He is.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
He got en trying in the NABJ Hall of Famer
surrounded by all the guys he had been mentoring. And
I take that same thing with myself back in la
same thing, same type of mindset.
Speaker 5 (28:46):
So that's a great point you made.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Last point I'll make is that people feel as well,
why me, right, I'm just a ex I'm not running
back in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
It's like, no, you matter.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
Most people aren' gonna be running back, So that absolutely matters.
Speaking of which, let's get to the season that was.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
And we're mad that the Falcons didn't make the playoffs,
all right, because you were talking about it.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
We know that. I know you were mad because you
guys had a good team.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Yeah yeah, and I know the quarterback play kind of
went off the deep end and.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
I was, you know, whoa is this the real rapper?

Were just talking about brothers. We got company crazy, But
that had to be disappointed because it looked like you
guys are going.

Man, I mean you know you can't control you know,
everything that you do in the NFL. Like obviously it's
hard to win, and you know for us, like, yeah,
we want to win every game. But I think the
thing that we I think that will be better at
next year is just taking it one week at a time.

I think the message was like we got to win
the South, we got to win our division, and you know,
obviously that's what you want to do. But you can't
look ahead and you can't look at other opponents and
and think that you know, oh we we can. We
can lax in this game like nah, man, like the
fail you every game matters, every every single day matters,
every single week, matters, no matter no matter who you're
going up against. But you know, I think we have

you know, well enough leaders now to know, like you know,
we we gotta we got to prepare it the same
way for every single team, whether it's the Saints and
it's the must win game, or if it's if it's
the I mean, the Giants, It doesn't matter who it is, man, Like,
you gotta you gotta make sure that you're locked in.

So I think that's that was a big thing for us.
That's a big learned lesson for us.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
I was going to ask you about Michael Pennix Junior
and just you know, obviously they put him in at
the end of the see Kirk Cousins.

Just they had to make a change. They made a
change with a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Just give us a feel for him going into next
year when it's gonna be his show, and how mature
he is or how ready he is for this moment.
I know he's a little older too.

Yeah, man, I mean he's ready to go.
Speaker 11 (30:44):
He's ready to go, man, Like he's prepared, well, he's
he was ready when he got in the game, and
he obviously has a lot of great players around him
to you know, to make his job a lot easier.
And you know, even like for me in the run game,
like he makes my job way easier in the old line,
and you know, he opens up a lot of things
for me as as I hope I would do for
him as well. But yeah, man, I mean he'll be
ready to go for next year. He I mean, he's

older than all of us, like right, No, that's what
I don't know, a normal rookie. Yeah, no, he might be.

It's always been try to push it out.

I mean, teams are teams are starting to draft these
elite you know, defensive ends and edge rushers in it's
starting to get hard to pass the football because quarterbacks
aren't having the time to see things develop and and
to see things like downfield because you got a minimum
time a second. So you know, when you have an
elite run game, then you're dominating to let the defenders

and let the defensive ends kind of like wait and
see what happens. Because I mean, when you have a
guy that can run the football super well and you
have a good offensive line, then it's it's pretty much
hard to stop, Like it's endless to stop.

Oh my god, we're currently seeing it now, like we're
seeing Saquan about to play this game. But you know,
obviously Jayalen Hurts can can can run the football. But
you know he has two elite receivers on the outside.
But without Saquon, I don't know if it will be
the same, like it would be the same product because
you know, he takes away a lot for for you know,
a quarterback in for receivers, and when you have a

running body that can do that and be an all
around talent, then you're just it's hard to stop.
