(01:07):
So that is something you definitely need to do. Here
on the Odd Couple. A lot of stuff to get to.
Lord Murray, who covers the NBA for the Athletic He'll
jump on in about twenty eight minutes or so.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Also last call, so still a lot to get to
on this big day. A couple of big NBA stories.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Janni's obviously ready to go, Chris Paul gone, that and
much more.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
But we go back to Gianni's where we started this program.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Kelvin, Yeah, I mean that's you know, some news. We
thought that Chris Paul would be the big news, but
then also Jannis decided to jump in and reported his
agents had a chance to actually, you know, to request
that they want to have a meeting and figure out
where the direction of this team going.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Robgi.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
Yeah, well, before we give it into that, Deanna's actually
played tonight for a few minutes. That is because he
left the game early with what they're calling a calf injury.
If he watched the video, non contact, He's going to
the rim passing the ball, comes around the other.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Side, immediately goes down.

Speaker 6 (02:16):
Hopefully it's nothing more than a calf strain, but that
could complicate his murky future with the Bucks because you
mentioned it. According to ESPN, he and his representatives will
be talking to the Bucks front office here in a
couple of weeks to discuss his future with the franchise.
All signs pointing to you. However, him finally after months
and years of speculation, demanding a trade out of town.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
Yeah, I mean I thought we would be here, Rob
and I you know, we talked about it, Rob, you know,
over the offseason, just because the report started to come out,
what would happen?

Speaker 4 (02:46):
What do you do?

Speaker 5 (02:46):
And I thought this was gonna happen because I thought
you could see he's starting to put pressure on the team.
He started to be vocal about things, and to something
you always bring up, he kind of felt like he
wasn't that guy. He of felt like, you know, he
was one of those guys who kind of just gonna
ride this thing out. But over the last two three years,
he's been making He's been louder, right, he's been a
little grumpier, he's been a.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Little bit more what are we doing? Where are we going?
Which he's earned that right too, by the way, last year.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
They had a chance to do that and he didn't
and he said he didn't ask for a trade.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Right, No, But he's but he's been him, he's been
vocal about where are we going, what's the direction I
want to win?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Multiple this isn't good.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I mean when he asked for Damian Lillard, like when
he asked and they traded away everything for Damian Lillard.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Yeah, So I'm saying he's don't understand this at all.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
To me, I just don't understand what point of I
don't understand, like like they've made moves, they've done everything
that you could.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Ask him about.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
So the Milwaukee, it's Milwaukee.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
That's what I was let going.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
To Miami five years ago. He didn't want to go.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
But I'm saying, I'm saying to your point, one of
the things that we've said and we all I think
most people would agree, is the Leastern Conference. It's been
twenty twenty five years, however, long of the Eastern Conference
being the least that in the way, you know, the
lesser conference between the two. And to me, as good
as Gianni's is two time MVP, Defensive Player of the Year,

(04:08):
Rookie of the Year, All NBA a million times, I mean,
he has been.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
He's been that guy. He is first ballot Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
When I look back, and we talked about this a
bit before, Rob, I will say, especially post championship, it
has been strange for me and a bit disappointing to
me that Giannis hasn't gotten back and just dominated the East.
I'm not saying he had to win three, four or
five rings. That's very difficult. And his team, you know,
he had to have the Warriors with Kde and stuff.
But the idea that he doesn't make it back the

(04:36):
ideentity he's not regularly in the Eastern conference finals are
regularly in the you know, have been to the finals
multiple times. Has been a little underwhelming for how good,
how great, how talented he is.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
I expected, once he's on the talented teams in the
East to know there's not really as.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Good as he is. There's not. That's literally why we
call it the least. There's top there's one or two,
but you can't.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Miami's been to the finals a couple of times.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
It doesn't exacts nothing about those miamis an made a run.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
It's not.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
And not a single time you name made me look
at Yanna's where we think he is.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
He should not look at that as well. I can't
get past.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
So how come.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Lebron didn't go to the finals every year in the
West with when he showed up in the I mean
there were years didn't even make the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
No, right, we're talking about the East. I literally, that's
why I'm just talking about the easiest conference. I don't
I don't think it's that he hasn't dominated out to be.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
I don't think that Gianna should be in the finals
every year.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
I think that's a pipe dream. I just don't believe that.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yanna's how about christ Middleton and the other players are there,
But I still don't think he has to go to
the finals every year.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
What I'm saying is there's no way Rob that he
is thirty thirty one years old putting up these numbers,
still in his prime, and his team is what are
they nine and thirteen or something, And the fact that
he's that three first round exits he's got gotten past
the Simmis that is underwhelming for this guy and how

(06:07):
great he is. If I just blindly told you this
guy's resume and that he's thirty thirty one years old
still in this.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
As, I would tell you blindly that he won a
championship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that hadn't won a championship since
Kareem Abdul Jabbar was lu Al Sinda. I mean, like,
what do he just stop. No, that doesn't mean to stop.
He tells you something. I just know what you but
your idea, I just think you have an unrealistic idea.

(06:35):
I'm gonna be honest that you think everybody like you
have to go to the finals or the championship every year,
or the idea that Giannis can't get beat or he
hasn't played. There was a time when he lost to
Miami where he didn't play as well as he had
played and miss free throws or whatever. He won a
championship there.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I don't know what you expected. I don't even know
who you are to win four championing crazy bell.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
You throwing some bell that I ain't never see you
a Bill bondsman right now, as great as he is,
as dominant as he is in the conference that.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Does not have play to a great and dominant and
they didn't win. They didn't win one.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
I said, you can't even regularly when he's two conference finals.
The fact that he's first round exists. If this were
anyone of that statue where what we're saying is they
will be getting ridiculed.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
There will be concerns. We're not saying he's not any.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Extenuating circumstances are in any extenuating circumstances, No I gave you, No.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
I you if I'm the bucks, I'm answering if I
gave you, you know what, you're right and you're honest.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
We do need a tweak. Let's go get you, Dame.
You and Dame don't work out.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
I got Brook Lopez, Bobby port Portis, Drew Holiday and
Chris Middleton and all these guys that only worked the
one time.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Doesn't work like and you're so good, you're at.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Least I believe. I think we've all been led to
believe that you also are capable of dragging a team.
And there are certain people when you're at that level,
that is expected. Luka doncin Is in the expectation that
if Luca again doesn't dragt some teams in some Western
Conference finals and some finals, we're gonna be upset Jokic.
He's that good, that dominant, that if Yokis doesn't drive.

(08:15):
I'm not saying these guys gonna have three, four or
five rings, but I'm saying the winning and getting deeper
playoff runs, I think that should be that's warranted. I
think that that is not without Mary for how great
they are to ask Jannis to dominate the East for
a decade. What's I think that's a fair point. Hey,
Yanni's just not saying you gotta win five, go to

(08:35):
the finals, a couple of times, win a couple of
Eastern Conference finals, get to them. That's all I'm saying
is he's left meat on the bone palls. He's left
to be desired to me for how great he is
in a conference.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Again, that's what rob we came into this season is
wide open? Is it the Knicks? Is it the Pistons?
Is like who can win it?

Speaker 5 (08:55):
And they're underachieving when this should have been a year
he easily is.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
But I think, I think, I think you're you're you're
missing the elephant in the room, and you're not being honest.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
They choked down that series Doc Rivers is again.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
They hired him, Jannis wanted uh the coach they had
before him, didn't even give him a chance, wanted him out.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Giannis was the one that signed off. I guess on.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Doc Rivers, right, they've choked Where did I get it wrong?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
That sound like my point with y honest?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
No, No, your point is my only point is I
just think that your expectations for him are through the roof,
that you really believe that he should be in the
West Eastern Conference finals every year for ten years.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
I just don't see that. I think there are other
players and other teams.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
I don't. I just don't.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I don't see anybody doing that. But you think Jannis
has been wasted. I don't think Giannis has been wasted
in Milwaukee at all. The idea that Yannis won a
championship in Milwaukee is mind blowing to me, is way
ten times more and I could have ever imagined Janni's
winning a championship in Milwaukee. Okay, so your expectations in

(10:07):
mine are different.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
You say you expect.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Them to dominate him and win and go to the
finals four or five times.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
I just don't see that. I'm talking that he went
on the title shy.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
I'm saying a couple of final appears, some Eastern Conference
mixed in there, just where you're a very competitive team, That's.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
All I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
The idea that Giannis, after two KUPO MVP candidate, two
time winner, one, two or three every year in the voting,
regularly is out in the first round, we would blast
so many other people that talented, of that elk that
awarded that uh you know, heralded. We would blast anyone
else if they're regularly out in the first round or
barely get into the simmis. We would be like, what

(10:46):
is going on there? And that's my gonna win five.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
In cache that other people don't have. And that's that
he won a championship. And there have been other extenuating circumstances.
You didn't You didn't bring up Damien and Lillard and
him did didn't really go together. It didn't work out.
Talk about when you know it did. It didn't work out.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
That's why I figured it out. It out.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, but they tried and it went out, and you
and everybody else when they went and god, Damnian Lillard said,
oh god, oh that's.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Gonna be perfect. This is great. Look at it.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Look at this, Matt, this is gonna work out perfect.
Those guys go, so, Damian Lillard not working. I'm getting
the blade, but you're making it.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
No.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
But I just think your expectations are unrealistic.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
That that's what I mean.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
For expecting a dude of this this dominance to get
past the first round.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
You expected Luca Luca and Lebron to get to the
Western Conference Finals right last year.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
I didn't expect them. I thought they could and I
expect Luke what happened to I expect Luca his tenure
with the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
If Luca doesn't get to the Western Conference Finals again
this year coming up, then what what is that for him?
I'm just I'm saying this is his run from you?
What should he get to the fin Western Conference finals
the next it is.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Possible for them. I don't. I like Houston.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
You know already told you I like Houston and I
like Okay, see, and then you got Denver. What I'm
saying is, if Lucas is here five six years in
LA and he don't go to two three Western Guns
finals or get a ring, that's underwhelming. Yes. If Joker
don't get back to the finals as great as he is,
that's underwhelming. If Joker doesn't regularly you'll get to the

(12:27):
Western Coas finals two three more times. Yes, these guys
are that elite, and I guarantee you they hold themselves
to that expectation.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
I think you're I just think your expectations are really
high because we talk about how hard it is to
win so many things have to go your way. It's
just not as easy as you think. And I and
I don't care how talented that you are. You just
talked about you guys went bent over backwards for Chris
Paul and that's great. He's a top What do you

(12:57):
think you have him as a top four or five
guard right point guard. Yeah, he's been on a ton
of teams. He got to the finals one time. It's
it's harder than you think.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
And I don't care how talented you are. It's harder
than you think.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
And not most guys, even Lebron when you think about yeah,
he's been there ten times.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
He's been playing the league twenty what four years? He
got four championships.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
That's wow.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Four He's got four championship.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Twenty four years to be getting out in the first
round in a conference that's not even that hard.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Period period.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven,
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Do you feel

We gotta be flying in hot and heavy.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
All right, the calls card and flat, hot and heavy.
Let's get to them.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
Rob and I talking about I essentially think Gianni's at
to takunpo if it's all said and done, Milwaukee, I
wanted some deeper playoff runs. I wanted some more another
finals appearance. Rob is okay with where his career has
been in with Milwaukee. Where are you at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox?

Speaker 1 (15:31):
So we got all right, let's go Trent in Wichita.
You're in the couple of Fox Sportsuaitia.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
What's up?

Speaker 9 (15:37):
Trent?

Speaker 8 (15:38):
Still listen in y'all outside of outside of the bars, man,
I'm not not in jail it still so I'm good man.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
All right, that's a good thing, Trent, night job, good job.

Speaker 8 (15:48):
But here you go, Kelvin. The deal is, man is
only one dude can win it every year, you know
what I'm saying. And there's only one championship. So whenever
there's four or five all time greats and only one
of them is gonna get it. That's why Barbley don't
got a ring. And you know what I'm saying, It's
just it's just winning the ring is very hard to do,
and especially in Milwaukee, him getting one there, I give

(16:12):
him mad drop for doing that.

Speaker 9 (16:14):
Man.

Speaker 8 (16:14):
I mean, there's a reason why people don't win at places,
and uh and they don't have the they don't have
the front office, they don't have the capability to really
even do it. And he willed them to that. And
uh so, I mean, I don't see much more he
could have done.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
Man, Love y'all, I'm with you, absolutely believe they could
have got some deeper playoff run.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
You think Rob, you think he was his best version
in the playoffs? Multiple playoffs runs?

Speaker 8 (16:39):
No, he was.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
I'm not gonna sit there and think that he shouldn't
have won. The idea that he won that championship is
incredible to me.

Speaker 9 (16:49):
It just is.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I give him credit.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
He didn't of Fame nomination. You didn't stop there. You
got more Hall of Fame nominations.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
See here we go. You know, don't about me Kevin
footing over city.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
You're on the yyd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
What's up, Kevin, God, it's good.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
All the time.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Where you been, Kevin, Oh, I was doing Sabrina Carson?

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Yeah, where you been ducking and hiding?

Speaker 7 (17:18):
Was a Sabrina Carpenter. We had a short street tour.
Uh got crypto. I was looking for you, Kevin. Did
you bring your daughters? H six six six show?

Speaker 5 (17:27):
Hey, Hey, Sabrina Carpenter, Kevin. She a little more the
menu window, she be. She a little too.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Grown for my daughters right now. Oh yeah, if you
catch your stuff dropped.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
She the reason why I gotta drop that, please please drop.
But that Mike like tact that that's what her song.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Yeah, you're a little too grown for me with my
little daughters right now.

Speaker 7 (17:47):
Oh yeah, she's doing a thing.

Speaker 9 (17:49):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
Janna is because of the accent. He gets away with
doing what Lebron did. Lebron won a championship. He traded
KOs On everybody for Westbrook. Jannis was a champion. He
trades Drew Holliday, He gets Chris Millenon out of there,
all the guys who won in the championship with that defense.
He gave that up for Lillard with his offense. These
players have got to stay out of the front office

(18:11):
and let the GMS in. Just like Kawhi decided, Hey,
I don't want shot, I don't want another shot, I
don't want a superstar. Bring me Paul George's sixth first
round raphicks later, the Clippers are still trading pick to
the Thunder, and that turned the case and Wallace and
Jay the wooms and it might turn in Thunder Big
Cameron Boozer. So this is what players do. It's what
Gianna says, It's a player empowerment. And Janni's definitely cost

(18:34):
himself maybe another championship because he saw Drew went to
Boston and win another championship with Tatum. So you can't
just go shipping players out thinking you're Jerry West or
you're Bob Myers or you're Sam Presky. Just play basketball
and win your championship. Janna's definitely messed up his window
a little bit. I think I definitely think saw.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
All right, Kevin, thank you, appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Brother Thomas in our you're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Thomas?

Speaker 7 (19:03):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (19:04):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (19:04):
Rob? What's up?

Speaker 10 (19:04):
Kevin? How y'all doing.

Speaker 8 (19:07):
Good?

Speaker 7 (19:07):
How are you?

Speaker 8 (19:08):
Brother? Well?

Speaker 7 (19:09):
Doing well, doing.

Speaker 10 (19:10):
Well, thank you, sir. Hey, so Rob, what you're talking
about is complacency. You want a champion to be complacent
and to not chase any more championships.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
That's not what I said.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
I said, his stint in Milwaukee is far more than
what I expected. I did not expect Milwaukee to win
a championship. I gave that guy credit after they lost
to Miami a few years back. Everybody wanted him to
go join the Heat. Do you remember that, Tom? Everybody?

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Oh, yo, you're dumb. I can't believe you. We signed there.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
You're dumb. You'll never win.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Go back and read the stories, read the columns, and
read the con the social media post about Giannis, he said,
I don't want to work out with Lebron, I don't
want to be buddies with anybody. I'm gonna stay in Milwaukee.
I'm gonna do my thing, and they want a championship.
All I'm and then won a championship since lu Al sinda,

(20:09):
uh and and uh you know back in those days.
All I'm saying is, did I expect him to win
multiple championships in Milwaukee?

Speaker 2 (20:18):
No?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
I did not, And he won a championship That's all
I'm saying, not about being complacent. I can't look at
his stint in Milwaukee and say it was a disappointment
in any way.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
I can.

Speaker 7 (20:30):
I got one more thing, one more.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Thomas, Thomas, You think that his stint in Milwaukee was disappointing.

Speaker 11 (20:37):
No, No, not at all.

Speaker 10 (20:38):
He beat my Hawks, which was great. The Hawks were
in a great run that year too. You know that
was a great postseason personally for me, you know, with
the Hawks. But you know I came but two things,
one more thing, one more thing. You chase two things
when you become a professional anthlet, you chase either money
or championships. And I think I speak more an athlete

(21:02):
to chase championships over money.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
All right, Well, joannesty, I don't think anybody thinks Giannis
isn't about championships. I just again, my whole point, Rob
is just simply I thought he would dominate more in
a when it mattered in playoffs. I thought he would
get to Eastern Conference finals. He would get to finals.
That's where I say that it left more to be desired.
All right, on the way we got to getting ready

(21:28):
to join us is our man law? What's the gift.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
I've lost my little thing.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Right here, we're gonna talk some law Murray, gonna talk
some Clippers with him. Obviously, big story. CP three right now,
got check in with Mancy Belanos. I don't know how
Mancy doing?

Speaker 3 (21:43):
What did I do to you?

Speaker 2 (21:44):

Speaker 4 (21:56):
All right, Monty, thank you so much, Chance Oka. We'll
have a great night.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Rod Parker kelvin Washington with you on a worship Wednesday.
And we are joined now by our man Law Murray
covers the NBA for the Athletic.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
You can follow him at law Murray, the n U
on ex law Man. Just a normal day around the league.

Speaker 9 (22:14):
Huh yeah, man, that's how that's how we do. Everyone
want to sleep and then you get woken up literally.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah. Yeah, they won.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Good, go ahead rock Chris Paul and said, hey, hey,
pack your bags, you got a ticket out of here. Uh,
your your your thoughts on Chris on on Chris Paul
and obviously he wasn't playing that much. It's not about stats.
The team isn't playing well, They're not using him as
a scapegoat. There's some other issues, and I think that

(22:47):
Chris Paul maybe reacted the way he used to react
when he was a star in the league, and it's
just not the same. It doesn't feel the same when
you're not What did you get from this from the
people you've talked to?

Speaker 9 (22:59):
Yeah? Man, I mean, look, a lot of it is
because stats. If Chris was playing better, or if he
was just playing at the level that he was last
year when he was an eighty two game starter in
San Antonio, maybe this is a little bit more palatable
when you hear Chris coming at you with some truth
and it sounds like Chris didn't discriminate. You know, I'd

(23:22):
be surprised that he did. Chris Paul has been in
the NBA for twenty one years, right, so like he
has a hard owned reputation of squeezing every possession and
for squeezing every player and every coach that he's been with.
You gotta have some thick skin to take it, and
it helps when you win. Chris usually shows up and

(23:44):
teams win a little more than they did before he
got there. This Clippers team obviously is in a terrible
place in that department.

Speaker 7 (23:52):
So I think.

Speaker 9 (23:55):
With all of those things considered, yeah, they're very careful
not to put it all on Chris. But it's interesting
that this was the first domino and that it happened
when it did.

Speaker 8 (24:05):
And how it did.

Speaker 5 (24:08):
Answered be this So we know there's reports that he
and Tyler had been talking in weeks that he wanted
to have a meeting with Tyleru about some about some things,
and Tyler.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Just been ignoring him.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
Where is this organization for kinda from top down, from
Steve Balmer to Lawrence Frank to Tyleru. Are they locking
stephan Key? Are they all on the same page? Is
there some are they all maybe in different places? Where
are they right now?

Speaker 9 (24:33):
I would say that this season is probably the most
dysfunctional since the twenty twenty two to twenty three season
when Kawhi Leonard came back from vclch here and there's
a lot more discord as far as the coaching staff
and the front office not being on the same page.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Then.

Speaker 9 (24:50):
Now, mind you, that team still found a way to
find over five hundred avoids to play in tournament, gets
themselves a seven game series that they would be eliminated
because their stars weren't available. Bash forward to now, the
record is so much worse and the issues have revealed
themselves so much earlier, but the brain trust is that
much more luck in now. We can probably discuss why

(25:13):
that is, but the main thing you have to look
at is the contracts. I mean, t lewis signed until
twenty twenty nine. Steve Bomber has never wavered on his
front office and there is not a single player on
the team that is signed as long as Kiiran lewis signed.
So if there's going to be shake up changes, it's

(25:34):
going to involve personnel and the players before it involves
changing a head coach or changing GM. And I think
the fact is those guys learned from the discord and
disconnect from three years ago being on the same page.
They have failed, but they have failed together. They brought
guys in that everyone was on the same page about

(25:56):
how they were going to bring those guys in a
lot of things didn't work, a lot of those things
out of their control. You can inticitate Bradley bal missing
twenty to twenty five games and maybe not dropping twenty
eight games. You don't anticipate Bradley Beal not playing a
single fourth quarter your entire season. That's just not how
these things. These decisions get made, these projections get made.

(26:17):
It's stuff like that. So I think the people who
want heads the role, they're not going to get it.
And the people who want to see accountability, it's going
to come from the stars first, and the stars are
going to get a couple of weeks to a month
to figure it out on their own before more drastic
measures are taking.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Well, do you have a feel for where Giannis could
wind up if this whole thing shakes out? He wants
to go the Bucks say okay, well, just we got
to move on. You don't don't want you don't want
to be here. We don't want you here. What do
you expect as you're going to wind up in New York,
Because you're going to wind up somewhere out west any field.

Speaker 9 (26:56):
For that, I just hote Giannis is healthy. The injury
that jan has suffered tonight is very concerning. He suffered
a non contact cast injury, one of those injuries where
he jumps, he comes down, maybe comes out funny, try
to take some steps. Colasses needs to time out to
get off the floor. I'm not as going a lip reader,

(27:18):
but others are. We're gonna find out the next twenty
four hours because Giannis is even going to be able
to play in the short term or the long term
for this season, assuming that he is. Giannis is not
an easy basketball player to build around. He's incredibly talented,
He's incredibly powerful and forceful with how he plays, but

(27:40):
Godnis has had some durability issues tonight, notwithstanding, like he
has been a player who has missed playoff game, He's
been a guy who has struggles to reach seventy games
and the way he plays. There's been one head coach
in this entire league who has won playoff a playoff
series with Johnson and the Kubo, and that's my Budenholzer.
And you see where is right now for where he's not.

(28:01):
So it's going to be interesting to me to see
what team in the middle of the season especially, is
going to give up assets and still have a team
that is good enough with Giannis to compete for something
beyond winning a playoff series. That is something that is
very interesting to me. New York has been the team

(28:23):
mentioned the loudest, but New York isn't so good that
they can give up real pieces, integrate Giannis and say
that they are objectively better.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
You know, l Murray our guests here, I want to
ask you about another team that we talk about, the Clippers.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Let's go to other team here, the Lakers, and keep Giannis?
Is there some way?

Speaker 5 (28:42):
Austin Reeves is having a very very good season for him,
But there's still people will say, hey, is Austin Reeves
the kind of guys if I'm Milwaukee, say gimme Reeves,
give me, you know, another player and maybe a future
pick or something. That is where is Austin Reeves when
it comes to how he's viewed with the Lakers?

Speaker 4 (28:59):
Is he a must keyboard? Is he a great piece
to dangle?

Speaker 9 (29:03):
He's probably a musk chief. And I'll tell you why.
Lebron James is in the final year of his contract.
Luka Doncic has signed long term. Austin Reeves is duo raised,
and Austin Reeves is going to be an All Star
this year. He might challenge for All NBA depending on
how things shake out. Again, the games played factor is
a big one. You know that guy plays games. He's
very durable compared to a lot of guys that are

(29:25):
in consideration, you know, Monday night, Yeah, the Lakers lost
with you notice who went down with a with a
with a growing injury as Devin Booker, a player who
doesn't exactly play Austin's position. But it's in the same
realm where if you're going to be thinking of voting,
you know, reasonably, you'd say, oh, Devin Booker, you know
he's far and awesome Reeves, but you're going to look

(29:45):
at the production. You're going to look at the record,
and you're going to look at the games play, and
we're going to see, you know how that shakes out, right,
So I think the Lakers know that it's important to
have a very good guy next to Luka Dancich who
can cook Dallas. They had, you know, Jalen Brunston, let
him go foolishly, got a life for Rapp and getting
Tyrie Irvings, but that didn't work right away. And then

(30:07):
they got Tyriy Irving and Luca on the same page.
And even then the team wasn't really good until they
fortified the roster around those guys. Then they got hot
enough to make the NBA Finals. It's important to have
someone next to Luca who can demand a double team
create for himself and others, and also just be another
guy just insurance. The Lakers probably have two really special guys.

(30:30):
I mean, Austin rev reasons the highest scoring number two
options in the NBA right now. People don't look at him,
and in terms of that, that's how you should refer
to him. And Luca is leading league scoring. Austin's leading
all number two guys in scoring. You pay that guy
and you figure it out from there.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Is that because of the postseason with Austin Reevez. He
was so disappointing in the postseason. I don't know if
he was fully healthy, but there were a lot of
people after that, you know, going in all I heard,
I don't know where you were. Did you have the
Lakers going to the Western Conference Finals, because there were
a lot of NBA experts who were all over the

(31:13):
Lakers between Luca Lebron and Austin Reeves and then they
get knocked out in the first round.

Speaker 9 (31:19):
Yeah, they won one playoff game and it was very disappointing,
I mean reality as they got out coached, like Chris
Finch did an excellent job of putting his team in
positions to succeed while the Lakers were you know, they
had a game where they didn't make a single substitution
after Hattome, which is, you know, a risk that you

(31:40):
take and when it doesn't work out, you have to
own it. And the accountability to own that decision wasn't
quite there. Guys were not and they dissuspected Rualdy Gobert,
and by the end of that series, Rudy Gobert destroyed them,
right Julius Randall. People weren't expecting Julius Randall to be
affected in a play off setting because he was never

(32:01):
that player in New York. Well, by next day Anthony
Edwards must as it did something. Chris Finch put Julius
Randall and Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert and McDaniels in
position to succeed. And that's really put what it came
down to, those last three games of that series, Game three, four,
and five clutch time games, something where Minnesota struggled all
season some more. This year, the Lakers haven't lost a

(32:22):
single game in clutch times. They're the only team league
that could say that. But the timberwol has won all
all those games. It's the margins, right, and so I
think when it comes down to Austin Reeves, yeah, I
don't think he was one hundred percent in the playoffs,
but he's a good player who continues to get better
and who is working with this little thing called confidence.
If you have confidence in yourself, if you have it

(32:45):
from your teammates, if you have it from your coach,
and you're not one of those breakers who gets their
address dots, then it might show up on the court
more frequently. You might be consistently playing that your level
or above your level. And I think that's what Austin has.
Also got a lot of love from the people that
share a locker room with them, share a practice for
from share playing with them, and I think those things

(33:05):
allow him to be really, really good. I bet you
if you traded also, at least the Dallas right now,
you wouldn't play as well because it's like, why are
you trading me here? Who am I playing with? Is
this coach feeling me like I need to be putting
the position to succeed in my previous situation? Those little
things matter in pro sports, and especially basketball, a sport
where you're blinking your tend point lead is gone, and

(33:27):
that's just where I feel. Yeah, when you get embarrassed
in the playoffs, you have two choices. You can respond
or you can succumb.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Well, well that obviously if you're at Austrey, if you're
definitely are making a name for yourself this season.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Man, Law appreciate you as always, brother. Happy holidays to you.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
What's up ryot Hey guys, long.

Speaker 11 (35:34):
Time, first time. I just want to bring us to
Chris Paul thing. I remember when they got him. They
got nigger with the coach. You remember that?

Speaker 1 (35:41):
What can I say this Fox before you jump in,
before you jump in, thank you for being a long
time listener.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
We appreciate you for sure. Thank you.

Speaker 11 (35:50):
All right. Yeah, and they had a couple. I think
they beat him the first year, twelve thirteen, I'm not sure.
Twenty sixty brings this up. They were up three to
one against Houston Rockets. Oh yeah, the colors of the
Rockets remember that. And they blew that series. Seventeen they
lost the year saw eighteen, they lost the Portland and

(36:13):
then nineteen he went to Houston Rockets and they had
game seven.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
They were up on the Warriors.

Speaker 11 (36:20):
IM Warriors exactly, and uh they had the worst shooting
game of all time on their home floor, and I
appreciate Monte's you know, her passion, but he did not
take them farther. In twenty twenty one was the farthest
they went.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
I'm glad you brought.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Up all of these because I remember all of these
moments as well.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Appreciate the call.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Okay, Yeah, there was a lot of bad There was
a lot of bad juju in the postseason and.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
Out of that one where they were up against the
Rockets with the Clippers, that was terrible. I mean that
you got to win that series in advance, and that's
been somebody you mentioned that juju around him, like people
are like, man, Chris Paul is not a winner because
the time he had a couple of times to advance,
you know, with Houston and his hamstring, he's out, so
he ends up not playing against the Warriors, he doesn't

(37:13):
play and everybody's always, oh, I met a Chris Paul
was healthy, no hamstring issues, there a one.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
He just always had some type of thing would go
wrong for them not to advance.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
But I tell you what, one of the greater runs
of his career was with the thunder. We all thought
he was going there and it was a rap. It
was a bunch of young guns. We thought, man, he's
going as you call it, Siberia. We thought he was
going there, and all of a sudden, that Okac team
was really good. So he definitely had a neck, if
you know, for making teams better than that you thought
they would be, or better than they were before he

(37:43):
got there. But that same guy, that same intensity often
can rub people the wrong way, often can wear on
people and h and we've seen that. That's why I
said he's had if you split his career almost in
like ten years, ten years. The first ten years he's
the darling of the league, baby face assassin and everybody.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
He loves him.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
He's got the great commercials. You know, you're like you
knew it was coming, like, oh man, the championship should
be coming. The last ten has been Man, he's a
dirty player. He's not a winner. He you know, teammates
don't like him. So it's been an interesting, you know
arc if you will, story arc of Chris Paul over
the last you know, twenty years.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
Yeah, no one wants to take away. No one's trying
to ruin his resume or act like he's not a
great player. It's just that there's a way you got
to be real careful at the end of your career
on how you go out and how.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
You treat people.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
I'm telling you where they talk about it, the way you.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
Treat people on the way up right, You want to
treat people right because on the way down you know
what I mean?

Speaker 3 (38:40):
And people it's happens a lot to people.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
Hey, and you know what in this business we're in too,
it's a small business.

Speaker 9 (38:47):
You know that.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
Safe travels my dog, Safe travels. Man.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
