Rob and Kelvin discuss the latest survey indicating that the vast majority of chronically injured retired NFL players would do it all over again knowing how broken down they'd be at the end of their lives, and hit us with the final edition of Last Call for this week. Plus, former NFL tight end and 'Unafraid Show' host George Wrighster swings by to discuss how he feels physically after playing in the NFL, why so many guys have no regrets about playing such a violent sport, and much more!

(02:29):

new guy and been enjoying it. We've been in New Orleans,
people have paid his compliments. We were just down in
Cleveland people were and those are just people we being
able to see face to face exactly obviously here in LA.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Remember the state troopers in New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
That was crazy. Yeah, they just stopped just like yo.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Man, I thought they want to pepper sprayed me out.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
I was nervous. We were in the South. I was
a little worried, and they said, no, man, we're big
fans with listen. So that was awesome. So big shouts
everybody for personally giving you know, rocking with me, giving
me a chance to join in. And it's been fun.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Man.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Thank you to you as well and the whole crew.
Man that's been It's been a great, fast year. Man,
it's been fast year without a doubt. You ready talk,
So let's go.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
This year and break this story down for us. You
know NFL players, you know going through health issues. I
know a lot of former players. I've been covering the league.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Since when eighty seven.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Nineteen eighty seven, so I know a lot of former players,
and a lot of them you know, struggle with you know,
day to day stuff, playing with their kids. You know,
aches and pains and headaches, and you know a lot
of former NFL players drop dead at fifty five, a
lot just you know, Junior said, I had an unbelievable

(03:44):
Hall of Fame football career, you know, committed suicide. Just
couldn't take it anymore of the pain apparently, you know,
or whatever he was going through mental anguish and the
pain and all that and apparently took his life right.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
And there's there's just a lot of stories out there.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
But so let's let's yeah, I'm gonna say, let's add
on to what you're saying. So I'll throw all some
numbers in just to kind of act to it. So
there was a survey that was conducted conducted by ESPN
and an independent health policy research, polling and news organization
KFA KFF, and so this was this was interesting. First
of all, this is the first major survey done rob

(04:23):
that was separate for the NFL or NFLPA, because usually
it's one of the other. And obviously when you getting
out you kind.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Of which is probably good to do it independent and
not where they feel like, can I really be honest
if I say something is going to come back to
bite me?

Speaker 4 (04:36):
You know, things like that.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
So this was different, it was independent and one of
the biggest ones ever done by this So this is
actually and it's unique what they did. So they took
a year. They said, let's do the year nineteen ninety eight,
and they took five hundred and forty six men who
could play football in the NFL in nineteen ninety eight,
with the average age putting them around sixty two years old.
So that was a third of the players in the
NFL at that time. And so you were just talking

(05:00):
about some of the things they found. Here's some of
the significant things they found. Of all the ex players
that they interviewed, I'm just throw some stuff out. Sixty
percent reported that they are living with some type of disability,
including difficulty walking or climbing stairs, dressing, or bathing, three
times the rate of men their age who did not
play in the NFL. Fifteen percent of the players said

(05:22):
the doctor had diagnosed them with dementia. And there's another
study that shows only four percent of men around their
age should be having dimension.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Now I was gonna say not at that age, not
at that point. That's very on earth. We set yes
early yep. Okay, here's another one.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
You just mentioned about half a player said that if
this is a big one, felt depressed in the past
twelve months, compared to a quarter of men between the
ages of fifty five to seventy five. So you only
got twenty five percent of normal men fifty five to
seventy They got half the players who did this. So
there's just a bunch of stuff they talk about, obviously,
as you mentioned, having pain, having had just difficulties playing

(05:58):
with their kids, a grand kid.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
But here's after all that being said, nine out of
ten X players said they would make the same decision
to play pro football. Even among the players who said
the NFL had a negative effect on both their physical
health and mental well being, seventy eight percent said they
would decide to play again. And the unofficial Kelvin Washington
pole has had batting at one hundred percent, including guys

(06:24):
who we work with all the time, Ephraim and Carrie Rhoads.
Most recently I've asked, they said that one thousand percent
would do it again, and everybody else I've ever asked,
which the poll is probably up anywhere between twenty and
thirty players that I've sat down personally and said, hey, man,
would you do it again? Not a single one has
said no. And as you mentioned, some got issues, some
are struggling walking, Some are kind of questioning their cognitive

(06:46):
mental health right now. But they all said, rob they
do it again. It changed their life, change the trajectory
of their lives, the children lives and in some cases
their children children.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Not everybody. Everybody, no, No. I think that's a fact.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
That's a misnomer that everybody playing in the NFL is
rich and have generational wealth.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
That is not true.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Sixty percent of the league, those guys are bankrupt after
three years of leaving sixty percent.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Here's my point.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I don't believe in I don't believe those guys, and
I understand it. They don't want to feel like they
did something dumb. They don't want to feel like their
life was in vain, So they are going to stick
up for this thing, even though it caused them pain
and whatnot, because it's more macho to say that. To
now say I wish you had in play kind of

(07:36):
sounds sappy and soft and what's wrong with you? And
I think that they aren't being honest. If they could,
if you could give them an alternative, that they could
have done something else and still made a living, and
that is the choice. You see what I'm saying, Because
that's all they knew was to make a living. So
if you take that away from them, or their identity

(07:58):
or their celebrity or who they were, I understand why
they say they would still do it. But I don't
believe it, all things being equal, that they could have
done something else, you know what I mean, that was
on par with that and still made a living for
their family. I don't believe that they would. And that's
that's really the question.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Do you do? You see what I'm saying, Like because
when you say.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
But Rob, that's the I totally get what you're saying.
But here's where I disagree. Because of the semantic. That's
why I think so many would do it. Nothing else
afforded me the lore, the crowd, what else? When you
hear them talk about it, things I've heard over the years,
what else gave me one hundred plus thousand? Especially they
played big time college football, people screaming my name. That's

(08:47):
why a lot of them say it's hard, like I
missed the roar of the crowd.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
But what's the average, what's the average what's the average
career in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Three and a half years. But but again, you got
to go back to college football. If you made it
to that mean you played college football, then you got
to the pros. You're used to that, you're used to
the you think, even if you're not a Hall of Famer,
but you were the guy in a local town. You
let's do use some You spent twenty years Herman Moore
walk around Detroit.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
You're the man.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
You don't have to buy a beer. And I think
losing that you get it automatically. You're gonna get a
job doing radio because you're Hermit more if you want it.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
But there's not there's not forty more than just Herman
Moore played in Detroit, and there's only one color radio job,
and Lomus Brown has that.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Do you know what I'm meaning? Giving it up?

Speaker 4 (09:33):
But okay, but you get.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
And I understand that guys like a Hermit Moore and
people we know are celebrities in town. Of course, even
though the Lions never won anything.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
But hey, hey, that's irrelevant to the point. Rob, stay
focused and what we're talking about. Okay, anybody ask you
all that.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
He gives people you know who have good memories and
feelings for it's Herman Moore. Yeah, I remember we made
that catch in Chicago or whatever it is, right.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
I just I just think that.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Most aren't honest because it has inflicted pain and it
has shorten their lifespell. I just can't get over how
many guys dropped in at you know, forty fifty five.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
That's not real.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Where I challenged you what, I don't know what I
think where I feel I disagree with you because I
feel like maybe you're missing let's put it to me
and you I think we're under selling or you are
in this case like they were five, six, seven years
old and they're like many my dream is a player
in the NFL. Right, your dream, because of the odd

(10:36):
couple of change your life was to be doing what
you're doing and have done for the last thirty forty years.
For them to get a chance to play the thing
they've always dreamt of at the absolute highest level, where
people are screaming their names, They're playing with their good friends,
They're going to battle blood, sweat and tears. They able
to change their lives financially in some cases, maybe not rich.

(10:58):
But hey, even if I'm making four hundred thousand dollars.
Where the heck else am I making four hundred thousand dollars?
In most cases, you're a one percenter at that point.
I went to a great college. A lot of them
would have never afforded to go to Alabama, Michigan, Ohio, State, Texas.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
No.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
But I just think that I agree that's portion of
it they don't want. It was all worth it when
I look at it. My life was grand, I did think.
And I'll just read other things from this poll. Some
of them talked about how they I got to travel
the world in a way I never would. I got
to meet people I never would. I got to meet
people from different backgrounds. Had I never left my small

(11:34):
town of you know, small town Ohio.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
But I'm giving you, like, if you gave them the
option of having a similar life but not with the
health afflictions that come with football, would they have taken
because it can't be. I'm on them in the NFL
and I made four hundred thousand dollars and now I
was a celebrity and you're working at Walmart. Yes, I

(11:57):
get that they're not going to accept or take that job.
But a similar life without the football banging heads and
the injuries and what they're dealing with. That's what I'm
talking about. And here's the other one. Muhammad Ali is
a perfect example. If you go back and say, man,
can you would you stop doing the ropodope?

Speaker 4 (12:21):
That guy was the most glib alive.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Right with it smart, I just I mean him and
how go back and watch those things him and Howard
Kosel back in the day, and and he was it
turned into what to mush right, turned into mush I
can't and and sure he'ld say yay, Muhammed Ali, I'm

(12:46):
the greatest, and this and that and box him. But
I don't believe if you were given something similar without
having to deal with that, you would accept that or
pick that.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
That's That's what I'm talking I don't.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
And I think in a utopian, perfect world, I get
with your same where I would disagree. And I think
Muhammad Ali, God blessed dead, the great one, I think
the greatest. I think he would say that was part
of like going through those battles with Joe Frazier is
also what maybe Muhammad Ali because I did something, you know,
and and uh and also George Foreman, right, I'm taking

(13:18):
those punches from George Foreman. That's what made it a maze.
For fourteen rounds of my head beat in. Everyone thinks
I'm about to lose to this young, huge, massive, strong guy,
and I did that, and it's epic and it's a
story that will last in sports for history. And I
think that's why for some people they go, listen, we
get one life to live, and I did something I

(13:38):
wanted to do. I fulfill the dream of passion, and
I did something most like one point zero zero zero
one percent of humans get to do. And I'll never
forget the camaraderie. The fans, They'll just that, and I
think it's hard to sell them on that. Now. What's interesting,
many of them who I have talked to personally, friends,
you know, half of them have all say I don't

(14:00):
want my son to play though, or I won't let
him play until he's in high school, where obviously at
that point is he's older to do whatever he wants because.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
They know, they know the dangers and they don't want
their kids to be a part of that. Let me
throw out the number I'm interested to hear this eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine, nine.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Six, sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Do you believe these retired NFL players would do it
all over again? Or are they just trying to convince
themselves that these chronic injuries weren't done in vain, because
that's what I think it is. They don't want to
admit that they did this stuff in vain. We'll continue
this conversation next with you. It is The Odd Couple
on a what is it funky flashback?

Speaker 1 (14:47):

(16:28):
minute as well, Rob and I just talking about a
new study that just came out here essentially ESPN and
also KFFS, which is a news organization that does polls
and surveys, and long story short, they found that so
many players have so many different physical disabilities, mental disabilities, challenges,
and struggle with depression at higher rates than the average

(16:50):
person between fifty five and seventy five from who played
in the NFL in the year of nineteen ninety eight. However,
many of them said, nine out of ten, in fact,
said they do it again. Rob doesn't buy it. I
think they absolutely would, just because what that brought to
their lives, and they do it again. It's worth the
pain and the struggles for so many eight seven seven

(17:10):
ninety nine on Fox So we got all right?

Speaker 3 (17:12):

Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
What's that Steve?

Speaker 9 (18:31):
Hey, Robin Calvin. I really enjoy your insightful, boful edercating show.
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
No, thank you. That means a lot, Steve.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
The right show. Let's just make sure the right topic.

Speaker 9 (18:45):
Yes, can you hear me?

Speaker 4 (18:48):
No?

Speaker 9 (18:48):
Got you, Steve, So the t conditions. I hear more
about what the NFL players and I'm curious about how
this may apply to college players who may or may
not get to the NFL in the long term. I
think it's an interesting subject. And how would that be

(19:09):
addressed health coverage?

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Very good question, I mean, because they're not covered and
that's the danger of it. And until to me Kelvin,
college players have a union that represents them as a.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Whole, it'll be sketchy for those guys.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
They need some sort of CBA that governs them, gets
the healthcare. Everybody who plays college football does not make
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
We know, such a small percentage of it, we think you,
But dude, so many of these guys are sitting next
to you at work right now exactly.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
They play major college football, yes.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
And now they're sitting next to you, and you know
it could be doing great things great other fields, or
it could be driving the ups truck with you whatever,
but they play college football. But they talk about that
in this piece. How the NFL. Of course, in the
f l p A, they all put out their statements
to this new finding and they talked about how we're
trying to protect former players. We've created this new two

(20:07):
billion dollar fund, and yet we find out how many
times rob the hell they have to go through to
get paid, the loops they have to jump through to
get their bills taken care of. It's absolutely a mess.
We got any more calls?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
We do we do wand in Pencil Tucky, You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
What's up one, hey, fellas.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
I'm actually in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 9 (20:28):
I'm a truck driver. I'm traveling west right now.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, I'm just playing.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
When I say pencil Tucky, No, no, no, that that
was that was from the Flintstones. They were saying, somebody
was from pencil Tucky.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
Okay, okay, okay. First first off, I just want to
say I love this show. I think it's great. Thank you,
just to be able to hear the different perspectives that
you and not get to offer that appreciate your topic. Man,
I love you, Rob, but I really can get behind
you on this and I think I'm here on those

(21:03):
When he said about, you know, talking about not just
generational wealth, but having these kind of opportunities, it's it
is so far removed from what a normal person will
have the opportunity to Tom pet It as far as
finances financially, as far as some facts like you know,
less than one percent of high schoolers playing at the

(21:24):
next level, let's in point zero one percent of those
players play in the NFL and you talk about the
average career length being about three years. Now three years been,
these guys are making somewhere around one point five to
one point eight one point nine million dollars in the
regular world. It'll take some guys twenty twenty five years

(21:45):
to even hit that.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Okay, but here I don't count.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
But here's my pushback, your mental your your your what
you have to deal with. They don't have coverage right
five years after they leave the league, so they're left
with medical bills, right, and left with stuff that they
have to pay their own insurance. There's a lot of
other stuff. And when you talk about that one point

(22:10):
five million, or say they make a million dollars, half
of it goes to an agent and the government. So
so now that million dollars is five hundred thousand. And
I'm not poo pulling the amount, but it ain't. That's why,
and go look it up, Kelvin. I'm not making this up.
You know this. Sixty percent of the players are bankrupt

(22:33):
three years after they leave the NF bankrupt.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
They don't have any money.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
This is why rob to not even. And you can
stay on the line if we choose. But it's not
just the money. I think it's the one.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
Two guns.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Yeah, one. I think it's because two. They're in circles.
Like let's say you're an alum from you know, Texas, and
you went to the league for a halfu of the years.
You even have to be great, but like you can
go back and rub elbows at Texas and meet people

Speaker 9 (26:05):
SIR i appreciate.

Speaker 8 (26:07):
It And i'm actually just getting over being upset with
you right now because you because you no man is
supposed to be left, behind and you left me behind last.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Week, Sorry i'm. Sorry what?

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Happened oh oh?

Speaker 8 (26:22):
Oh Because rob we me and me And kelvin talked
a few months ago about N a B j and
about whether he was going or not and all this you,
go and THEN i see On Instagram kelvin's. Out you
was them they having a great, time AND i was like, You.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Cleveland was pretty. Good it was.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Good it Was rob was in the streets. Too rob
was definitely in the. Streets uh was.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Drinking, AGAIN i KNOW i.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Was, Yeah, yeah you were eating.

Speaker 8 (26:55):
TOO i didn't even know who you, were all, Right
so So, Rob i'll plan to go with you in
twenty twenty. Six and if and.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
You definite, listen, Listen, george you no matter WHAT i,
do IF i, go don't, Go mike, goat shouldn't. Go
you better. Go it's about to be In atlanta and
it's gonna be. Lit so just go ahead and prepare for. That,
uh and you're, RIGHT i left you. Behind, hey jump
on this with A, George you're one of the PEOPLE
i have asked. This you know, Obviously i've known you
for years and now you're my. GOD i know your.
Family i've asked you this. Question i've asked mutual friends

(27:26):
of all three of, ours Including Kerry rody from salam
just guys who are on the radio. Here i've never
met someone who has said they would not do it
again with THE, nfl all that they, know potential damage
to the, brain head, injuries the pain they're going. Through
now there's a NEW i don't know if you saw
that new report out there that interviewed a third of

(27:47):
the league from the year of nineteen ninety eight average
age of sixty. Two in long story short many of
them have double triple the ailment someone in their age
who didn't play football. Half but at the end of the,
day nine out of ten of them said they do it.
Again where do you fall in, This, Rob i'll let
you tell your your. THOUGHTS i think it's more than just.
Money it's it's what's. Afforded it's the, opportunity it's getting

(28:08):
to play something you love since you were. Six obviously it's,
money and it's just it's what it provides you networking
wise that the average life, doesn't and it's worth everything.
Else rob doesn't, agree.

Speaker 8 (28:19):
Right, Rob rob is wrong and could not be more.
WRONGER i would do it again in a. Heartbeat, HOWEVER
i would not play in a game again with a
tinge unit attached to. Me that was a bad. Idea
and some other things THAT i did along the way

(28:41):
to be on the field to, PLAY i wouldn't do
those same. Things but aside from, that because if the
WAY i look at it is, this is that the reason?
Why and mind, you there's a different mindset about. This
the WAY i look at it pre the big money in.
Sports like pre the big money in sports is about

(29:03):
the love of the game and all of this. Stuff
but but when you look at now how much money
ism is involved and the opportunity to change the fortunes
of your, life the future generations be in the network
and being able to be involved in businesses and just
the opportunities LIKE i wouldn't have had any of the

(29:23):
jobs That i've had likely HAD i not been in THE.
Nfl and you, know and then have other skills to
be able to lean on as. Well but but a
check check this. OUT i believe that when you are
paid so, handsomely that there is an element that that
you are signing a contract Saying i'm willing to sacrifice

(29:46):
some of my later years, physicality whether it's swollen, knees
aches and pains and this and that to be able
to to be able to be paid so so handsomely
because it because it if you Hear tyree's, happen everybody's.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Not everybody doesn't have a generational. Wealth that's a myth
in THE. Nfl okayret, yes, yeah it's it's sixty percent
of the league is not making generational. Wealth sixty percent
of the league have to pay, cobra sixty percent of
the LEAGUE, uh sixty percent OF nfl players filed for
bankruptcy five years after they're out of THE.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Nfl there's a lot of heroes in.

Speaker 8 (30:26):
It here's the truth to, it, though, Too, rob is
that is, that, yes you are one hundred percent, right
and there is a little bit of a line of
demarcation in terms of how much players were making making
and how many go go broke and all of that,
stuff because that number is steadily falling down because guys

(30:49):
are more aware of those things and they're also making
better financial choices and the money is so, big and
you and, you and you are. Right but but but
but here's the other part about it about it the
rob is that the is that the average career is
three point three, years and the people who play under
three point three, years their level of ailments and all

(31:13):
of that is less than the people who do play.
More and when and WHEN i first came in the,
league the minimum my rookie year WAS i think two
twenty five and the minimum now is like eight. Something
so for so so there are people like you, said
if they play on minimum, contracts their whole. Career if they,

(31:33):
play you, know, eight, nine, ten ten, years that's not generational,
wealth but it is a significant head start on being
able to do whatever your next.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Career you agree with all of, that that's not my.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Issue my issue is the players who dropped dead at fifty.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Five the guys former, players WELL i talk.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
To who can't get rid of headaches and can't get
out of bed in the morning and the other stuff
that that also afflicts. Them that's a part of. It
And i'm not saying you would give up football for.
Nothing that would be equivalent without having those things to deal.
With you talk to baseball players or basketball Player they're

(32:16):
not going through what you're going, through you know WHAT i,
Mean and they play much.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Longer baseball players play twenty. Years you have a twenty year.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Career to earn, money and you're not broken up when
it's all.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Done and that's What i'm Talking And.

Speaker 8 (32:30):
Rob, yes And ROB i won one hundred percent agree with.
You so can you hear this point, too is that
there is a difference in the post career lifestyle and
physical bodies of guys who played WHEN i. Played SO
i got drafted in two thousand and, three and guys

(32:53):
that got drafted pre that played pre, me and guys
that are even playing now that are getting drafted in
twenty twenty, five their their bodies are typically like my
body is in much better shape than guys who played
previous to. Me and, yes there are guys that played
WHILE i was late that are significantly beat up and,

(33:15):
everything but it does. Continuously would you would you, Agree,
rob Because i'm in this code community and the guys
that are playing now and retiring, now their bodies are
in much better shape than. When than when you could
close line guys and do a lot of the things
that are now banned and they would put you in

(33:36):
jail for it if you did them in the.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
LEAGUE i agree with. That but even like Uh.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Aaron Donald donald who quit early in premature because he's,
LIKE i got my money and as much AS i love,
FOOTBALL i don't want to do, this do you know
WHAT i? Mean like like the love of it because
he could get out of it because.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
He waited with. Money insane right, Now.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
NO i, know But i'm just saying to, me that's
an example of somebody you, know is it?

Speaker 4 (34:02):
That but that's that's because he.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Understands, yeah it can happen to, you and the ramifications long,
term that's All i'm.

Speaker 4 (34:11):
Saying and you know that there are plenty, again and.

Speaker 8 (34:14):
That's where that's WHY i said that that, YES i
would play, again but there were some decisions THAT i
made or was pressured, into but ultimately it was still
my choice about playing with different things and all of
that THAT i would not make now in hindsight and
honestly the and that was why the concussion thing made

(34:37):
me so mad initially BECAUSE i REMEMBER i got a,
uh the only TIME i got like a super bad.
Concussion we were playing At buffalo and they had taken
me to the hospital after we flew back BECAUSE i was.
Nauseous that would let me drive any of that. Stuff
and then and then the next, week the trainers or
the equipment guy said, Hey, george you need to change your.

(34:59):
Helmet and this is like five or. SIX i was,
like why DO i need to change my? Helmet and they, said,
oh because this helmet is not that great for. You
And i'm sitting there, like hold, on what do you
mean this helmet is not great for? Me and he asked,
me how long have you been wearing this style of.
HELMET i was, like SINCE i was in high school
and they, said, okay would you keep a AND i

(35:21):
was behind. You it's not the actual same, helmet it's
just the same.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
Style.

Speaker 8 (35:27):
Yeah he was, like would you keep a keep a
car for ten years or fifteen? YEARS i was like.
No and. Then but the part that may be mad
is is that these are team issue. Things so there
were three or four helmet options, available and so if
the league is providing, them and they're supposed to, be you,

(35:50):
know monitoring what's safe for you and all of that,
stuff why is an unsafe helmet one of the options
THAT i can choose BECAUSE i can't choose what.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Was but you never should have had an option to
wear that in THE.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
NFL i shouldn't have been taken out for. Sure so
you got to be out. There, Hey, george we up against, it,
Man thank you for your inside. Brother congrats on the
show us always. Man we'll talk, soon, yes, sir and
