It is your tire rack play of the day, Kelvin.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
As we go into the final hour of the program,
shout out to the Cubs Radio Network. By the way,
that's where that came from. Is that what I can
ask you? Thank you for that? Yep, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Let's talk about that. There was an article, a column
you saw in the Landscape on ESPN right this site,
and it talked about uh Saquon Barkley not just going
to the White House. And we've been kind of flirting
with this topic right for a couple of days, but
this column made us really.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Want to talk about it, right, like we should address it.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
And sa Kwan Barkley didn't just go to the White House,
would you say.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
That, Kelvin.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
He thoroughly embraced Trump, like play golf with him, playing
around with his grandkid.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Like it was like wow, Like it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Like, Okay, I'm here, I'm respecting the office of the present,
high shake your hand, thank.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You, and keep it moving, right, And he's been.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Getting killed like just I don't even know what else
to say, right, would you say that?

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Getting killed social media?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
And I don't remember and this is the thing, Okay,
we're not having a political conversation, but we're having a
conversation about the ramifications of aligning with people. It happens today,
whereas maybe people thought it before, you know, but just
didn't have an outlet to say it. You agree with that,

(03:04):
like they thought it, but they didn't have a Twitter
or an Instagram or something that That's.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Why the barbershop was so huge, you know, you just
you just exactly that's where you kind of had the
community conversations or you know, the think pieces and all that.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
And I don't remember it being this until Trump became president.
I really don't.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I mean, like, like I don't people used.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
To go to the White House photo op right, Ronald Reagan,
George Bush. I don't remember ever being an issue about
not going, do you.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
I'm but I don't remember it.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
No, you're right, And maybe a guy didn't go or
to you know, I think Jordan might have missed one.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Craig Hodges meant, you know, but.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Like Craig went and got in trouble because he wore that.
George Bush, Yeah, he was the hand of the letter
to a letter about things that needed to happen in
the black community.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
You're right, You're right, You're right, but it wasn't as
well like now, it's like a you can it's almost
like a prop bet. Who's gonna show up, who's not
gonna show up, Who will shake his hand, who won't
shake his hand? You know, it's it's it's gotten crazy where.
That's what's where we are with it now.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
And the other thing too, is it's not just Trump.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
People didn't go to Obama, correct, Tom Brady, Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And and some other players who made it vocal that
they weren't going to meet Barack Obama, the first black
president of the United States.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
They wanted no part of him. Okay.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
And I guess when I look at this story and
sa Quon and Jalen Hurts is the exact opposite. He
did not go. They're on the same team, poth star players.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Am I right? Yep, yep? And I wonder this is
the question we really want to ask. And then Kelvin,
you can take it over.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Does it affect whether or not you root or how
you feel about somebody else? And I mean you, I
have two guys on the same team. If you're an
Eagles fan and if you don't like who's in the
White House, are you now even a bigger fan of
Jalen Hurts because he didn't go? And if you are

(05:15):
a fan of the president, are you a bigger fan
now of Saquon Barkley?

Speaker 1 (05:22):
You know what I mean? That he did go and
embraced Trump and the whole nine yards.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I think there's I think that there's something too that
people find out who you keep company.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
With, and it changes how you look at them. Is
that fair? It does? I think?

Speaker 3 (05:39):
I think to add to this, and you've something you
brought up because I want to I want to read
a quote from Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Here he went on. He put on his I think
it was his Twitter.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
He said, Lol, some people are really upset because I
played golf and flew to the White House with the president.
He put that president in all caps, and he went
on to say, maybe I just respect the office. Not
a hard concept to understand. And then you fast forward
a little bit when again he said, now y'all get
out my mentions with all this politics and have an
amazing day.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
He concluded it with.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
So I said that to say, this is where it
gets interesting, and this is where to me, I enjoy
having these nuanced conversations with you, my brother, because it's
not as easy as man, don't go to the White House,
or it's not as easy as I should be able
to go to the White House because you know it's
the president.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I respect the office.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Because there's layered the reason why you mentioned Oftentimes it
wasn't a big deal. Historically, Hey, whether it was a Democrat,
President Clinton, whether it was President Bush Republican. Most of
the time, most teams went, most players went. But now
things have become so divisive. Things have become so I
call it gang related. You're either red or blue, almost

(06:51):
like blood and crips. You're either left or you're right.
You're entrenched in it. You can't have friends who are
the opposite side. You're ready to fight people. People have
to be secret about it. And it's gotten to that point.
And let's just be fair. Trump previously and now, the
way he conducts himself has been unlike any other president.
So he's added fuel to that fire. Typically president's stay

(07:13):
out of sports. They'll go to a game, they'll throw
a puck out, they'll throw out again, and that's pretty
much it. He got into it with them during the
Colin Kaepernicker calling him sobs, making fun of them for kneeling,
calling lebron Is calling Steph Curry that, and we've had
so much of that, whereas become so confrontational and specifically
a lot of African Americans feel a certain way about

(07:34):
how things have been handled with him. So you talk
about a league like the NFL, I think is what
seventy percent black? So you're getting teams that are showing up,
for instance, the Eagles, and not just black players. It
isn't just black players, but you had twelve I think
it was at least twelve players that did not go.
And I think what you're having happen is people aren't
aligning with not just the politics, but the decorum. Right,

(07:57):
we can disagree on politics, but it's the way you're
saying things, the way you're treading people. It's the way
you're calling women this, calling women that, disrespecting other politicians,
disrespecting other politicans, you know, remember calling Haiti in other
countries like that piece is of you know, s word.
And so I think people are saying, nah, I don't
get down with that. The how things are being handled

(08:19):
from a decorum standpoint, how things are being handled in
an inhumane way. So I'm not gonna rock with that
and I'm not gonna go respectfully.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
But I get other.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
People are saying Obama, Clinton, Bush, Trump, the president is
the president. I respect the presidency who's sitting in it.
I'm a proud American. I'm happy to be there. This
isn't a politics thing. This is just a my civic
duty as an American and honoring the position. So what
happens is what made these conversations become more interesting, if

(08:47):
we're gonna keep it a buck is because oftentimes it's
perceived as black people are monolith. So all black people
gotta hate Trump, all black people must not want to
go to see Trump, right, So when someone does, they
look at him a particular way, or if he shakes
his hand or maybe last with him, He's perceived a different,
you know, this certain way, and that is where it

(09:09):
becomes challenging because a lot of people feel like a
Jalen hurts.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
They may not say it, but they feel like that.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
But there are a handful of people like say Kuan,
who say, man, whoever it is, I respect the office
is amazing, invite And you start to get this challenge
of where people feel like, yo, man, you're a black
man in America. You know what we've been through. This
is historically, you know what some of the challenges are.
You see what you know? This administration is gone at DEI,
it's gone at UH trying to put people of color

(09:37):
out this country who are illegals.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
How about Jackie Robinson.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Destroying books and striking him out of the libraries and art.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I mean, if there's a lot of stuff to unpack,
right and when.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
You see that, I think for me personally, and I
have the utmost respect for people who this country gives
them the right to make their own choices.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
You have a right to burn the American flag, whether
people like it or not.

Speaker 6 (10:04):
You do.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
You absolutely have the right, and you.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Have the right to go and embrace somebody who you
buy into. And you also have the right to not
and they can't force you to go. And I don't
think there's a demerit on your record either way from
the standpoint of you make a choice from that, but
the way people respond to you, and I'll just be honest.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Like I've lost friends I have.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Not over politics or it's not politics or policies.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
It's more about decency, yes, and there's a difference, Like
you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Like, this is not about Oh, the Republicans want to
give rich people a tax break.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Do you understand what I'm saying? Right right rightw Like
that's different. Hey, maybe we need to spend a little
bit more money on homeless.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Do you do you like we me and you could
have We could be on different spectrums and have that conversation.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
But decency and the way you treat people just doesn't.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
I just I'm not that kind of person, and I
would have a hard time. I'm not even a hard time.
It would be impossible. I could have been the biggest
star in the NBA. Just say I couldn't go. I'm
telling you I couldn't go, whether people liked it or
didn't like it, because I still think I have to
live with myself and the idea that you're worried about

(11:41):
the office or the building or the office of it
rather than the human being who's there. That would be
my where I draw the line. You have to be
a decent enough person because for me to be able
to embrace you in any way, or to want to
be around you or to want to be photograph with you,

(12:03):
yea makes sense.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
No, it makes a lot of sense. One thing I
want to add to this, and I've never been I've
always questioned. I asked Kareem abdul Jabbar this once at
my Spectrum News one I do for those who don't know.
I anchor a morning news out here in Los Angeles.
And a couple of years back, few years back, during COVID,
we had the uh there was you know, a lot
of protests going on.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
It was a lot going on. George Floyd was the
summer of George Floyd.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
And it got crazy out here in LA specifically around
Santa Monica, and we had live on the air. We
got Kareem abdul Jabbar during breaking news to talk about
what was going on, and I asked him something. I said,
why is the onus oftentimes on black athletes to talk
about what's what may be the plight of a black
of black folks, But it's really American issues. It's not

(12:47):
like we're not Americans, you know what I mean, It's
American issues. And I said, no one ever pressured Peyton
Manning to have to speak up and talk about things.
Tom Brady ain't never had to say anything. Lebron got
to speaking, you better say something or not this. Hey, uh, Kyrie,
you better speak of you better say so Jalen hurts,
you better not going to win. And I always said,
while I absolutely think it's admirable and I respect it,

(13:09):
and that's more along the lines of who I am,
but I always thought that's not fair that why doesn't
anyone else have there during Colin Kaepernick? There were a few,
So I don't want to make it that it was
only black athletes.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
I want to say this and I do want to
throw this in.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, I thought Aaron Rodgers at the time when he
spoke out about Kaepernick and that it wasn't about the neil.
I thought that was like for a white quarterback who
was at that time very popular, huh, to make a
statement about that was about as you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
It was rare, It really was.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I was really really impressed that he was because if
you remember Tom Brady, he acted it like he didn't
even know what was.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Going on exactly. So where I'm going with that, Oh,
it was stuff. Oh, I ain't really up on it
like that. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
The reason I bring that up to tie it back
to what we're talking about is what this situation does
think about if you're a twenty four year old player
on the Eagles, right, you don't really know. I'm still
learning who I am as a young man. I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Dang.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
I don't really like certain things the President said, the
things he does, but dag, it is the White House.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
That's kind of cool. I get to take pictures.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
So my children like yo, dad went to what the
pressure they feel of, like well, you better not go,
or if you go, you would sellout, or if you go,
you're this or that that. I've always said, well what
about their specifically in the NFL white counterparts? So they
can go and just get you know, Scott Free if
you will, or they cannot go, and it just be
you get what I mean, like.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Cause they like they didn't go to Obama those and
Tom Brady.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
It was kind of like, oh Tom bradyn't show okay anyway,
And yet the conversation becomes Sakwan Barkley went and had
a good time, or Jalen Hurts didn't go because he's
standing on business. But I'm always like, look at the
added pressure that a specifically and particularly on African American athletes,
because if you go, you sell out or you ain't
about to cause you ain't down for the people.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
But if you don't go, brother, you did.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
But if you don't go, then it's like, well, dang,
am I perceived, as you know, overzealous or angry black
man or too militant? And I'm always like, well, dang,
look at the added pressure on a group that already
has gone through a lot and oftentimes marginalized.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Where that's not the case.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
There could have been a white linebacker for the Eagles
who doesn't go, Hey, we don't even know it. It's
not a conversation. Even if he's just like, oh he
didn't go, it's like okay, cool whatever, or a star player,
and it's not a indictment on who he is as
a man. It's more of a news note meaning, oh
so and so didn't go, cool, great, whatever.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
It's not an indictment on the man. Does that make
sense what I'm saying? Yes, I get it.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
And I've always thought that wasn't for you know, because
let's say it's a different burden. And I asked Karean
about that, like, yo, if you didn't speak of if,
if if Bill Russell didn't speak of if Muhammed Ali, like,
why was it the onus always on you on you know,
and it was just great to have that conversation with him.
But I just again, that's what I'm looking at, as
like Sa Kwan did absolutely for whatever he felt. He said,

(16:04):
I'm honor in the office. I Kelvin don't necessarily have
to agree. Rob Parkersond was like, you don't agree, but
now he's gonna get bashed as you've seen, and there
in lies the challenge.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. As a sports fan,
you're supposed to love the player, no matter what they're
wearing your team's uniform.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Right, I'm down with my team. He's on my team.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
But do you feel differently when you find out whether
somebody went to the White House didn't go to the
White House? Does that bother you? Does that change your fandom?
That's what we want to know. Do you look at
players differently or cheer for them less or more? If
they embrace your president? Forget about Trump? Your president? Right,

(16:51):
it could be Obama, it could have been Trump, it
could be a Bush, whoever it was. Do you feel
good or bad? Depending on how your favorite player embraced
the president. It is the Odd Couple eight seven to
seven ninety nine on Fox on a TV theme song Thursday,
Rob Parker Kelvin Washington right here on.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Fox Sports Radio. And you know what to do, Stick
and stay because one day politics might not matter in
the US.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Of a one day maybe we'll see, but you know
it does matter. Alex is buying a home. It's one
of the biggest decisions you'll ever make in your life.
And buying a home it used to be a huge headache.
You had to go through a bunch of different places
for listing, for pre approval, for financing. Just absolutely exhausting, frustrating,
a very challenging thing. And I've been there. My wife

(17:38):
and I have now owned our home for nearly a decade.
It was tiring, it was frustrating. It got to go
through the process. Who's gonna get the money? Is going
to work out? Put in your name, my name, our name,
How are we going to do it? Confusing, stressing. But

Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. We das at seven
pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeartRadio app ThunderCats.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Oh yeah, that was my childhood.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
It is the Odd Couple Robin Kelvin on a TV
theme song Thursday. For over forty years, tire rack has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what
and where they drive, ship fast and free back by
free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile
tire installation. Tire rack dot Com the way tire buying

(18:50):
should be. Robin I having a great conversation and nuanced,
a very heartfeld conversation. And we want to just open
it up to you all. We're talking about two opposite ends.
Jalen her Urtz does not go he had a scheduling conflict, doesn't.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Go to the White House.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
And you have say Kwon Barkley, who did it all up,
hung out with the President Trump and win.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
And played golf gay with the grandkids exactly.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
So, uh, your thoughts on just how to handle that
are you? Does it matter to you if your favorite
athlete does something like that?

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Does go? Doesn't go?

Speaker 8 (19:21):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (19:21):
You talk it up at the game. Let's try to
get a couple of people in here. I know a
lot of people want to chime and we can't get
to everybody. Ron and Birmingham, you're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
What's up wrong?

Speaker 6 (19:33):
Hey, jent'men it's a great conversation. You both have brought
up some good points. Calvin you had mentioned earlier. You know,
we have a president who I guess is his opinion
on more things than a lot of prior presidents. And
if you're a person that really doesn't pay attention, let's
say you're not on X and you're not into this,
you may miss a lot of what he says. But
if you are someone who's tuned in and you listen

(19:56):
to some of the comments he makes, I mean, we
all know what he said about Charlott at Ville, and
then a month ago he made the comment about that
he was going to pardon Derek Chaves. So if you're
a person of color, which I am not. I hear
these things that I'm thinking. If you are a person
of color, how can you not think that the man
maybe isn't racist? Which is right, you know. I mean

(20:20):
he does say a lot of things, whether it's ingest
or not. But if you know, again, I'm not a
person of color, but if I was, I would take
offense to a lot of those things.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Hey but Ron, Ron, let me ask you this, Ron,
why do you have to be a person of color
to be offended?

Speaker 6 (20:33):
Though that's a good point, that's just because of the Yeah, No,
I hear what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Yep, because you're seeing to be a very well nuanced,
well thought out person. And I think that goes back
to my point I heard you might have heard me say, Ron,
is the onnus always ends up being on the African
Americans too?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Well, I would feel like this or well I wouldn't
go if I were black.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
But it's like, why is it only on the persons
who are often the ones that are being disrespected?

Speaker 1 (20:58):
I think, yeah, and I hear you, Ron, Thanks for
the call, great, thank you.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yes, we do appreciate for John joining in markets in
North Carolina. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Is this safe the nation?

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (21:19):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
My comment is you only live once. Now, you can't
pick your president. You can try, but but it's whoever
wins wins. And when you've got an opportunity to go
in there as a Super Bowl champ, you know, we're
talking about a lot of them athletes to come from
the NFL, from the South. The South is a football factory,

(21:43):
and they come to some deep rooted black people who
serve the wars, who best it back for this country
to build this country. They're there, their their ancestors will
want them to go because we're bigger than Trump. So
we acknowledge and what he's done, and we go and
say we are who we are, which is football trophy

(22:04):
with the chips, and we're proud because we have everybody.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
YEP, appreciate it. Recall Man redcalls here Ron.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Andre in Massachusetts because we got t tower coming up.
So Andre, you're last up on this one. Are you
in the eye?

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Couple of Fox Sports Radio, what's up, buddy?

Speaker 4 (22:26):
Hey, how you doing?

Speaker 5 (22:27):
Thanks taking the call? Great, great subject. Listen. I think
this is instructive. It's a great conversation because yes, sa
Kwon Barkley decides not to go, decides to play golf
and spend time with the president. Jalen Hurts decides not
to go, but Sakwon Barkley getting more of the emphasis,
more of the eyeballs. And it's important that people you
have to give each the opportunity to make their own decision.

(22:50):
And when we get the snap judgment, okay, nobody's jumping
down jail and Hurts throat and put you know, calling
him out of his name for not going, you, Saquon
takes a different approach you it does. You do have
it right as a fan to say, okay, this gives
me some insight into.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Who you are.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
You know, and I understand you know that we may disagree,
but the slip result that you put yourself on is
when you take it a step further and either criticize
or try to make even worse, try to make the
decision for them.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
That is the reason why.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
Donald Trump got more of the African American vote in
twenty twenty than twenty sixteen, because people felt that they
were being forced to a certain extent or that they
had to go a certain way versus having the ability
to do it. For themselves. So I think that's what
I'm taking away from this in terms of I saw
it on social media. People had a lot to say
and then he rightfully responded and then step back, But

(23:40):
his the heart of his response, and I think where
people can learn something. Why are you trying? Why are
you think you can make the decision for me? Whether
you're Drew gree and there's a lot to disagree.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
I don't think it's about making a decision, but once
you make it, it's like anything else. Like if I
find out something about an owner of a store or business,
right and I'm currently and I'm not going to get
into it, but Kelvin, I'm currently boycotting certain stores, right

(24:11):
I am, Yeah, because I've found out intel about what
they're doing. And you know what, I've decided that I
won't spend my money there. I'm not making a public
thing about it. But that's a conscious thing you do.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Correct, No, I get it.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
You make the decision, well, based on what matters to you,
what kind of your your.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Heart matters to me? You know, if there are stores
I will not buy anything from? All right?

Speaker 3 (24:37):
All right, hey, and I want to say this real
quick before they get a MANSI. I think I speak
for my partner here when I say this, thank you all.
I've been at the show now for six, seven, eight
months whatever has been and Rob and I have had
some of the most deep, intellectual, nuanced, interesting conversations that
you all have been a part of. And I want

(24:58):
to say thank you for doing that and not talking
about sports. Shut you guys have joined in made it
even better and I'm really appreciative. And I think I'll
speak for my partner when we say that. All right out,
no doubt. All right, we got tayshah twer trivia coming
up right now. It's Monty Blanio's gonna tellus what what's trending.

Speaker 9 (25:19):
I don't even know where to begin because a lot
is going on. But it looks like the Toronto maple
Leaves are about to send the Senators home and the
Stanley Cup playoffs. They just scored on an empty net
because they were up by one and the Senators. You know,
desperate times call for desperate measures. So the maple Leaves
added another run or another goal. They're upbwarded to down
to the final ten seconds. It looks like they're about
to eliminate the Senators. After two periods, the Golden Knights

(25:41):
are up on the Wild two to one, and Vegas.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Leads that series three to two. Now let's go on
to the NBA. The New York Knicks have a ten
point lead.

Speaker 9 (25:49):
It's been back and forth, but New York is back
up ninety four to eighty four against the Detroit Pistons.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
There was a bit of a scuffle.

Speaker 9 (25:56):
I just went down og On Unobi threw down Dennis
shrew as he kind of fought through a screen. Yeah,
the Knicks actually challenged the call because they thought that
Schroeder maybe found him first. That challenge was not successful,
so the Knicks no longer have a challenge for the
rest of the game. And it's still one minute to
go in the third quarter. Jalen Brunson doing what he

(26:17):
can for the Knicks. He's eleven of seventeen for thirty points.
You have to go along with six assists. When it
comes to Detroit, Kate Cunningham seven of sixteen, zero of
seven from the three.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Point line, he still has nineteen.

Speaker 9 (26:29):
Yeah, he has nineteen points. Malik Beasley off the bench
has twenty points down now by nine with about thirty
seconds to go.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
In the third quarter.

Speaker 9 (26:38):
This is an elimination game for Detroit, an elimination game
for the Clippers also as they host the Nuggets for
Game six that tips off in about thirty minutes ten
pm Eastern Time. In other NBA news, I mean no
surprise here, but John Halliburn, the father of Pacers guard
Tyre's Halliburn will not will not attend Pacers games for
the foreseeable future because of his actions towards Bucks board

(26:59):
Janna Santa to Coom. After Tuesday's Game five, Hellibrod met
with the front office and accepted the decision to not
attend any home or road games in person in the
near future and base to itself absolutely and they got
the right.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Yes, there was no other way. There was absolutely no
other way.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Couldn't because if they allowed that to happen, then they'd
have no leg to stand on when somebody else ran.

Speaker 9 (27:21):
Exactly, they really had to do it, and they had
to do it quickly. Vladimir Guerrero Junior has given the
Blue Jays a win after a three run shot.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
They end up beating the Red Sox four to two.

Speaker 9 (27:32):
The Nationals avoid the sweep, coming out on top against
the Phillies four to two, and there's still two games
going on in baseball that I've not started, Tigers and
Angels and Rockies and Giants. Guys, it's been fun and
I agree. I enjoy your conversations. Thank you all the time,
all the time, guys.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Yes, all right, we appreciate it. Manzi.

Speaker 3 (27:52):

Speaker 7 (28:22):
And no no ladies and gentlemen, vegans and meat eaters,
tail ship lovers, ruffled ship lovers, It's time.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
This game is so easy for tight Shirts Tower of Trivia. Okay,
let's jump right in.

Speaker 8 (28:40):
You guys know the rules and giving you guys a
blank that needs to be filled in and Alex are
non sports fan, resident non sports fan here at Fox
Sports Radio to try and guess what that point is.
The theme of today's Tyshert's Tower is nicknames. So it's
gonna have something to do with NBA players and their nicknames.
So we will start with this Clippers starve forward Kawhi Leonard.

(29:02):
It's been around the league for a long time now
and he has become known by his nickname The Blank.
We're gonna start with Kelvin today.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Alex, my guy, how you been been better? What's up?

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Kate and I saw good? You know what, Hey, you're here,
You're six feet above Life's good?

Speaker 1 (29:19):
You ready to do this with that type of motivation? Absolutely?
All right. This is a little difficult, but here we go.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
He didn't even care. He could have said, Alex, you
know we care. We're already off of paper, Alex. We've
already shared our moments so many times you Ryan's throughout
the day. I'm gonna go with.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Lobster that comment. I'm gonna have to call h r.

Speaker 10 (29:42):
Ron with what everything you said? You probably shouldn't right
big facts. But you know we've been reviewing the tapes.
We've been waiting for you to call. Speaking of call,
if you're saying lobster, it must be clawed, let's go.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
That's terrible. What you got that from that terrible clo
You gotta say Rob, Robert Lee, I was gonna say bear. Yeah,
I was thinking bear. That wouldn't have got it? Claw, Yeah, exactly,
he said, Paul. I also thought of bear. I was
with Rob Bart Claw. I guess what, aunt, No, I

(30:20):
didn't play that? You want? What are you talking about?
And I'm saying you would have gotten that? Aunt?

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (30:26):
All right, well Rob, you get a chance to rebuttal
here so uh.

Speaker 8 (30:30):
Nba great. Kareem Abdul Jabbar was known for his signature shots,
so this is not Kareem minute.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
What happened to the second question? Where are we going?
What are you saying? This is the second question?

Speaker 7 (30:42):
No?

Speaker 1 (30:42):
I got to Detroit. Piston deserve a lot of credit.
What's on your sheet? Rob?

Speaker 3 (30:47):
He's leading the show. You can't be you can't add
Alex Trebbet how to run Jeopard? Are you doing you
can't ask that, say Jack, how to run and you're
you're fine, robz.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
He doesn't necessarily go with the order. Yeah, Rob, Sorry,
we're jumping the order a little bit. Yeah, okay, you
see the answer? Did yell at Bob Barker before my
disappoint confused the answers there? Nonetheless?

Speaker 7 (31:14):
All right?

Speaker 1 (31:15):
NBA great.

Speaker 8 (31:15):
Kareem Abdul Jabbar was known for his signature shot, known
as the sky blank.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
All right, Alex, how are you? I'm doing well? Rob?
How are you doing? I'm doing good? Some cheese and mayo?
You know he did lamb shops, Yes, lamb chops for
dinner before I get on the flop and your fridge
to see nothing but just air. There's nothing in there. Okay,
got your close packed up to leave tomorrow? Man, do

(31:46):
you have a flight to get your what are you ready?
What do you got wrong? Ready? Let's go? Okay, Ben
malor up next?

Speaker 10 (31:54):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
The best thing about Alex is that, you know, it's
a lot of words and this is your mentory and
ale Alex is is he's so well versed on so
many things. But anyway, I'm not going to get into that. Okay,
here we go to start ready. I'm so ready, Captain.

(32:18):
Can you see me? Alex? What are you doing?

Speaker 7 (32:21):
Rob?

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Explain it to me? Could you see me? What are
you doing?

Speaker 8 (32:25):
Rob?

Speaker 1 (32:25):
What are you doing? Mates? Is it captain hook?

Speaker 7 (32:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Can you see what I'm just saying?

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Because they got on a beautiful Alex, I have on
like this beautiful green shirt and that's the only thing
I wanted you.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
I would love to say, I wish any of us
believe you fits so well? All right? Next one like
a glove, next one, next one.

Speaker 8 (32:53):
NBA great Hakeem Alajawan was known by the nickname the
Blank Kelvin.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
You're up, all right, Alex? You ready? Let's do it?
Let go ready? All right, I'm going I'm going Robert
Lee Parker, Okay, nightmare? What's up? The hand movement? Nightmare?

(33:19):
He's pointing to Elijah to use this for a clip later.

Speaker 10 (33:23):
I'm falling off the table he's doing so if you're
doing a Rob Parker was the opposite of a nightmare.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
Dream. Let's go Thank you, Rob, thank you for your charades,
instead of why you.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Got a cheat? You can't beat me fair and square? Ian,
what kind of commission are you?

Speaker 1 (33:40):
I'm smacking you up? Right now.

Speaker 8 (33:41):
I'm detecting no cheating right now. But Rob, I'll give
you this one because you were clearly ready for this question.
The Detroit Pistons deserve a lot of credit for making
it back into the playoffs this season. The attitude physicality
they play with on the court has led to people
comparing them to an older era of the team known
as the Bad Blank Pistons.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Alex, are you ready? I'm so ready?

Speaker 10 (34:02):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Let's see why you're ready for this? Can you see
my hands watching? Yes? Rob, get those out of your pants?
All right?

Speaker 5 (34:08):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Girl.

Speaker 10 (34:13):
Oh gosh, I wish I had to make that reference
before your clue. Uh, girl, must be boy right knowing you? Yeah,
the bad boy Piston.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
That's correct. I don't know what else done. Thank you
all right, next you very much, NBA.

Speaker 8 (34:31):
Great Julius Irving was known by the nickname Blank j
I love Jules.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Idiot.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
All right, I'm assuming it's me Alex. You ready, Hi,
k don here we go. Give you some life advice.
We're gonna do that. I got you, I got you?
What does it sounds like? Love lines? Go ahead? I
would love sense in all types of jealousy. Here we go.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
You get all your love tomorrow. Rob at Magic City. Oh,
he'll get more than you as juge.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
You all have to pay for. Love is always paid for. Nurse, uh, nurse,
he's gonna get it. Nurse practitioner Jay. Yeah, practitioner Jay

(35:24):
nicknames flow a little better, Alex. That's kind of cool. Practitioner. Yes,
the Jay is like, what is he practicing? All right,
here we go, Alex. You ready? I'm so ready, Alex. Yes,
please tell me. Okay, so I got my hand out right.
I'm just trying to show you you never need handouts.

(35:45):
Come on stop. All right, here we go. It's so simple. Okay,
give it to me, give me some good SEUs. Oh doctor, Yeah,
that's the only doctor that matters docs, the only one.
That's the only one ever. I'll that's it. I won
didn't it. It's all low dot Robins. Today's I'll let
you win. Since you're traveling, turn it out. I'm gonna

(36:10):
be rocking on that flight to Atlanta. You gonna be
rocking in Atlanta too. All right, Well, we got one
more thing to get to.

topics you didn't get a chance to.

Speaker 1 (36:30):

Speaker 3 (36:31):
It's the Odd Couple. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Rob, Rob Parker,
Kevin Wahston. Fox Sports Radio.

One more time for us before we head up out
of here. We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Last call time, the last its last call, last.

Speaker 7 (37:13):
Call time on the.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
That's right, signed for the last call? All right? How
about Trey in Texas. You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio and you are the last call? Oh all
hal o, guys, Hey.

Speaker 5 (37:35):
Man, I believe, I believe there was one person that
could probably saved the Lakers, but he didn't play man,
he didn't play.

Speaker 7 (37:44):
Yeah, I know who it was, right, Who was that?

Speaker 1 (37:48):
Ronnie Dames? Man the man the messigh where's your Massiah?
Out's right? Yeah, there you go. But brodni In he
can stop.

Speaker 10 (38:01):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
But I also wanted to talk about as far as
about what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Politics stuff.

Speaker 6 (38:11):
I just think, you know, it shouldn't matter who.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
I mean, who the finding it is or not. I mean,
as long as you want to go, just go, you know,
it shouldn't matter.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
I mean, it sounds you have that, you have that right,
but that doesn't mean that people can't look at you
a certain way. You can't stop people, That's all I'm saying.
You make your decision, but it doesn't mean that people
won't look at you differently.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
I mean that that's what we all go through.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
That who you're married, who you're dating, you know what
I mean, what kind of car you drive, what kind
of job do you have, did you go to college?
People look at you in all kinds of ways, you.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
Know what I mean. It doesn't make it right.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
No, Trey appreciate the car, I think. But I do
think Trey it's not as quite as simple as what
he makes. Because again it goes back to my point, Brian,
of like the onus has been on the black celebrity,
the black player to speak up for the plight or
the disadvantages of black Americans throughout history.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
Right, So if you're Muhammed Ali. You can't do I
just want to box, right, Oh you can do that.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
But people all right, but I'm saying no, you're right,
But I'm saying often then if you only do that,
then there is backlash. So I just think that's why
I said, it ends up becoming a uh challenge for
so many people getting because you got two prominent athletes,
say Kwon Barkley goes and has the time of his life.
He's ridiculed and to an extent, Jalen Hurts. Had it
been a little bit more public, like him not going,

(39:34):
you know, he could be ridiculed right out.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Of some people. Trust me, there are a lot of
people who are upsetting him. You're the star quarterback of
the who's or who loves Jalen Hurts even more?

Speaker 3 (39:44):
Yeah, you know you get a little Oh for sure,
there's absolutely people who love it more that he's down
for the cause. So yeah, and again that's why it's
one of those interesting things. Everybody swears what they would do. Oh,
I would never I would I would only go. I
would never not go. I would go until you get
put in that position, right, Because there's the other last
part that we didn't really discuss. Sometimes teams do this

(40:08):
as a team. Hey, look, we having a meeting. How
do you feel? How do you feel? What do y'all think?
We only want to go as a team, right if
you if we ain't going, or I want to have
a consensus, or if we have a vote, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
So sometimes guys might have voted and sixty five percent
of the vote.

Speaker 3 (40:24):
Said let's go, and they go even if they didn't
necessarily want to, and they're ridiculed.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
So it's not as I don't think you put that
up four team vote. I just I think people, grown
people should have a right not you know what I mean?
You got a nine year but I guarantee you, I yeah,
run to you.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
In fact, I believe that's what happened with a couple
of teams over the last seven eight years, that they
did take a little vote. But yeah, but I said,
I said it before and I meant it.

Speaker 8 (40:48):
Man.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
I love the fact that we can have these conversations.
I love that, right right, we got a two point game,
six minutes left, fourth quarter. Next Pistons up one O
three one on one, Next up?

Speaker 1 (41:00):
What a game? What a series? Has been great? We'll
talk about it tomorrow. Man, it's so sad. The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon is coming up next. I
never miss your radio show. I never hear it, so
I never miss it. Did you hear that
