Yeah, and don't like you not eating some taketos from
seven to eleven.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
And last call as well, your chance to chime in
on stuff that you.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
They might in trash talking last call because some people
couldn't get in, they might want to, oh yeah, trash
or something.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I think Sean from Sacramento was trying to get in, yeah,
and not happy that he wasn't able to get in.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Tonight he gets in.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah, somebody cussed us out about that. Yeah, was that
till my baseball I only called then. Y'all never let
me get in. You always busy. Everybody want to talk football?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Was a brother Jabbari from Detroit, Right, no doubt appreciate everybody,
and yes, what a show it has been, But we
did put a rap on college football.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Last night, let's go there. And I don't know about you, but.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
My overwhelming feeling about the National Championship and the college
football playoffs right that everybody wanted twelve teams and all that,
was that it was a flop.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
I don't feel good about it.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
And we saw last night Ohio State they basically ran
out and you know, notre Day made it. The score close,
but they got run out the building early. It looked
like it was lopsided, right, And just to prove the point,
Ohio State, the average margin of victory in this college
(02:56):
football playoffs was eighteen points.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Not competitive? Would you agree with me on that?
Speaker 5 (03:02):
No?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I mean we were hoping for more of the you know,
the games where you can one score games, coase, comeback drives,
get a little bit of that.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
You understand, every game ain't gonna be close. But and
here's the other one.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
First round games decided by an average of nineteen point
twenty five almost twelma. That's blowout, right? Would you consider that?
And the playoffs and its entirety were decided by an
average of fourteen point eight so basically two touchdowns plus
three scores. Yep, I mean, I just and here's the
(03:35):
other last thing. It felt like it was a day
late and a dollar short. That it was too late
January twenty. It seemed very late for college football when
they stopped playing, right, don't they stop playing before Thanksgiving?
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:52):
I mean think about that, that's like two months.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yes, that is my one of my main Literally you
can see right here I wrote too long into the season.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Did you enjoy this collegeateball playoffs? It was It wasn't.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
It wasn't enjoyable because we didn't get the matchups we wanted.
You got some teams in there who deserve on paper,
but we knew they didn't stand a chance.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
So you kind of got the combination of that.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Uh and again, too long in the season, right, we
got NFL playoffs, were ready to lock the load, be
getting close to the conference championship games. And remember we joke,
oh we got Inauguration. You're like, oh, yeah, that's a
national championship game on today. Historically, big games really final
games in the season.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
That's why the Rose Bub was the Rosebull New Year's Day.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
You know, I got this big game USC taking on
Michigan on how's it? Uh, you know whatever. This big
game was gonna be on the first. Then we got
the BCS and that era usually ended around January third,
January fourth. Now, well, you kind of had it all
like you knew your week, you knew what you were
looking forward to, you knew when to oder your buffalo
wild wings or wings.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
You know, it was a whole thing.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
January Uary twentieth, this ag and you know what's about
to happen. You know they're gonna go to six team
in the next year, two, three, four years, whatever. You're
going to February the day before the day after the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
It's good.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
No, it'll be the day that pitchers and catchers report
the spring right exactly.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
So that that's a big, big issue that I had.
Just it wasn't compelling. It wasn't would it be the
old man, get off my law. But I'm being honest,
it was not compelling.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I'm not the biggest college football fan growing up in
New York.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Let me the littus test being no one was talking
about it really like, it wasn't like you usually get
big games.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Didn't you sneak up on us?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
It snuck up on I'm even talking about the previous
earlier games as well. Now, to be fair, first year
at it, maybe they fix it, they work out the kids.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Some of the some of the issues are.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
You got better teams not getting the buy because you
got smaller teams who won their conference, so they're getting
a bye that they would have been eliminated in the
first round. Now you start to get some closer matchups,
but you got teams that are getting these buys because
they won their conference and they're not that.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Gross round was almost twenty points. Yeah, that's bad.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
As we talked about, the NFL's some point. You know, differentials,
some betting lines up are kind of crazy. G. You're
a college football guy, all right, you love college football.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
I was gonna add one thing real quick, rob G.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
The one thing I will say, and this goes back
to Ryan Day and even I think will benefit in Alabama.
I think it's gonna benefit of Georgia possibly a you know,
a Michigan type team. The one thing that used to
be was if you lost one game early, that better
be it. That better be it. But now with this,
you can lose at the end of the game, literally
(06:32):
the end of the season, if you're Ohio State to
Michigan and still have a chance. Because if that's all,
you're second lost. But I'll tell you what it does.
It does reset the season for the good to great teams,
like if Alabama loses in a in a big inn
SEC championship game, to say a great Georgia undefeated Georgia,
they're not out of it, where we might get a
great collision again of Alabama Georgia because they're not out
(06:54):
of it, or you know, vice versa. So I do
think because these are so long, it's not a one
game thing, because it's another it's a literal startover of
the season. Allow Ohio State we can start, we might
get some better matchups because they're not automatically eliminated.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
We're now I gotta I have to put in a.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Middling smu Boise State because why Alabama you lost your
one or two games, or Georgia you lost Michigani.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
But the pushback is that the Michigan Ohio State game
doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
It is being downgraded, all right.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Normally if Michigan, if Ohio State lost to Michigan, you
would be almost eliminated from the idea that you're going
to have a chance that was the only lost a
national championship game. Would you admit that most of the time,
all right, And so they lose an embarrassing fashion at
home to a bad Michigan, unranked team, it doesn't affect
them and they go on to win the National championship.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
That's what you don't want to have.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
You don't want this to be the NBA where a
regular season doesn't matter and you can lose two or
three games and still have a chance to win the
national championship.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
That's the scary part.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I get, and I get what you're saying historically, but
I think you're gonna have since it's again multiple games
in this postseason now that I think you're gonna end
up getting some great matchups. You're gonna get a very
good Clemson, Georgia, Michigan. So you got it for four
losses four now you went four. Ain't getting up in there,
you know when they get to twenty eight teams and yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I'm always pushing the aflop like Jared Goff having three.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Jared, he said that was extreme, it was extremely He
listened to the shows. I let me get one extreme
in here. Rob been wrong all season, but let me
get them right one time. As matter of fact, I'm
a one up you, Rob, I'm a fumble too.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
There you go. I didn't even have the fumble mixed.
Jared kuff Man. Jared lost.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Jared kuff lost right now, college football your thoughts, Robb G.
Speaker 6 (08:41):
Look, I think I speak for college football America like
Robs peaks for baseball America in this Hall of Fame vote,
and Calvin speaks for Lions America. Fourteenth, you know, outside
of Detroit. Sounds like a mad raider. I hated this
college football playoff. Yeah, and it and it's a lot
of the reasons that Rob talk.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
You know, full disclosure. He stole my take during the pregame. Jason,
I'm just saying, but quickly.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Number one, college football and it's pageantry has always been
associated with New Year's Day, whether it's the Rose Bowl,
the Outback, whatever your favorite Sugar Bowl bowl is. You're like, hey,
New Year's is the national holiday for college one.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Even I knew that growing up as a kid in
New York.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
And it came and went to a point where we
didn't crown a national champion until the week of the
conference championships in the That's crazy, like that, that's a problem.
And number two, this might be the Hotter take. I'm
so turned off by the idea of a two loss,
three loss.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Team winning championship.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
Even if Ohio State we saw at their best, they're
easily the best team in football. They blew everybody, and
we know that that's that's fair, that's totally you know, legitimate.
I would rather have the BCS where we're arguing about
two and three, like, hey, these guys never played each other.
How do we know Florida State deserves it over Nebraska
and you know who's your face usc like whatever.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
I would rather argue about the gap between.
Speaker 6 (10:03):
Two and three and and have just one champion where
we know it's an undefeated Notre Dame versus an undefeated Michigan.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
It is what it is. I don't care who you played.
I don't think that's what it is.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Now we're at a situation where if you play in
the Big Ten moving forward and you have three losses,
you probably still might get in.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Oh yeah, because if you're if you're Oregon and you
lost to a ranked Ohio State or ranked Penn State
and raising.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
A conference championship game, depend like it's you're in. You're
in there.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
But but but here's the thing, though, I it's you
having your cake and eating it too right now quickly,
just summary.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
It reminds me too much of the NFL. I wanted
to be college football, not the NFL. Oh well, you
better get over that, Dina.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Once they start dropping nil professional and all you getting
is NBA and nflights, you know what I mean, that's
all you're getting right now?
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Which one you want?
Speaker 3 (10:54):
You want to have the two conferences like the America
and kind Yep, you're about that's what hundred pers it's
gonna look exactly a hundred.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
You're gonna call it something else, something like that.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
No, it's gonna be the Big Ten in the SEC.
That's it for the SEC spans all the way to
New Mexico.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Yeah, exactly, just like the Big Ten is Big twenty eight. Yes, right,
it's twenty eight teams in the Big Ten right now.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I don't even it's ridiculous. We all the way they
about to add Hawaii to the Big Ten. I mean,
it's it's that crazy right now. So but yeah, but
you're gonna have to get over that, the idea of that.
But I think what ultimately happened though, Roberie, to your point.
I totally get it. Where you have Ohio State in
Miami back in the day undefeated, and you're like, this
is excited through the BCS. You know, the issue is,
remember if people hated the BCS, I had to take it.
(11:39):
But first of all, we gonna hate everything. Let's start
by the way, we should have started the segment by hey,
we're all gonna hate everything that they do.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
But I think Rob Parker, we hate everything. To Rob
park I like cheesecad.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
That's what we can name three things, and three of
them main sports. She's cake of Deal and Go and
women under thirty. That's it right there. No, I know
what I said. I know you said the girls that's
just a TV show. Although you were breaking, you were
breaking Pelvics. But my point is that.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Roger.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
My point is at least we're gonna get competitive games,
Rob g where we get that three loss Georgia you're
talking about versus that two loss Michigan or High State,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
And it's a real game when you.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Start getting these you know, boys and there getting blowouts
and it's not happy twenty point margin of victories. Just
to just to appease that SMU that Tennessee, that Boise
State or whatever. You know, just give him a chance.
They need to be in here. At least you'll start
to get some competitive games. So wouldn't that be the
case for shrinking the field. Then, yes, we never asked
(12:46):
them to jump to twelve in the first place.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
No, no, no, no, if you shrink it, you have a
better shot because you're not gonna.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Have toothpaste is out. The two times they.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Never even had four good enough teams that we did
the numbers. Before you start the numbers, the average mark
was like twenty two points a game, and.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
That was where four teams that were like so they
were like, yeah, let's triple it. Yeah, let's write at twelve.
We don't have enough to get four good games, and
now we're going to do this.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
It's pretty bad. They gotta figure something out or they don't.
All right, I already don't.
Speaker 3 (13:14):

Andre in Massachusetts. Andre, you on the I Couple.
Speaker 9 (14:47):
Hey you doing, Thanks for taking the call. Listen.
Speaker 10 (14:49):
I gotta say I was supportive and in favor of
new college football playoffs. Make on the fact you saw
the wealth being spread a little bit. It wasn't just
an SEC domination yet, point take, and the season did
kind of expand a little bit for me, and I
am a little bit old school. You do love that
New Year's Day Rose Bowl and everything culminating in that,
you know, in those games that decided at all.
Speaker 9 (15:11):
But I kind of go back.
Speaker 10 (15:12):
To, you know, in the nineties when we didn't you know,
it was you didn't see the marquee matchups and it
was all of the sports writers voting to determine the
national champions.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
That was bad. I agree with that, Drey.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
That the mythical you know, when you were a mythical champ,
right and you didn't play, So I agree with that.
But did you enjoy these games? Is what I'm asking you, Dre.
Speaker 10 (15:34):
I did, and I'm just happy we had we had
a because where is the SEC? I'm glad that other
teams are getting an opportunity.
Speaker 9 (15:41):
Now.
Speaker 10 (15:41):
A part of that because Ohio State stud defensive back.
Where did they come from? He's a transfer from Alabama,
all right, so nil and the transfer the right there
playing a big role in the spreading of the wealth.
Speaker 9 (15:54):
But I just like to see it was new, it
was different.
Speaker 10 (15:57):
In conclusion, they have to allow for upsets, okay, because
that was targeting in the Texas a su game period
and the story they favorite the blue Blood, so you
gotta they're gonna have a tournament, you have to have
upsets as well.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
He don't like those Patrick Mahomes calls, then.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, you don't like those, Josh and Arizona. You're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Josh, Josh?
Speaker 9 (16:21):
Do gentlemen?
Speaker 11 (16:22):
You know, first ball, the games aren't the best. But
what really really obsessed me is I think they've taken
away the luster.
Speaker 9 (16:30):
Of playing in the roll ball. Right, you know, you play,
you're playing the road Bowl, you.
Speaker 12 (16:35):
Win the game, you got the you know, you got
the flower and the ear and the mouth. You're biting
it and all of a sudden, oh hit, by the way,
we took another game, man, We gonna go play the
Sugar Bowl, and then you get blood on the Sugar Bowl.
Speaker 11 (16:46):
The Road Bowl becomes irrelevant, Like, you know, you don't
even care that you were in the Road Bowl anymore.
So I want to get your thoughts on something, because
I hate how they've incorporated all the bowl games into
the bracket. What if they pulled those out because it's
seeking to.
Speaker 9 (17:01):
Win the luster.
Speaker 11 (17:02):
He's going to get your thoughts on pulling out the
actual traditional big, you know, bowl games and not incorporate
them into the brackets of the player.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah, you know what out of the nostalgic And this
happens in all things in sports, right, we get caught
up in how it was when I was a kid.
I just remember the Sugar Bowl being a big deal,
the Orange Bowl being a big deal, the Rose Bowl,
the Fiesta Bowl, those bowls being such a big deal,
so that even if your team didn't win a national championship,
they won a massive bowl game. It was a competitive game.
You know, it gets a really good team, and like
(17:32):
those things matter. So again, I don't know if I'm
just hanging on to my ball humbug yesteryear kind of thing,
but you're absolutely right, those Bowl games. Your team made
it to the Sugar Bowl. I was lit Rose Bowl
New Year's Day.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
I was lit.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Okay, we ain't win in the National Championship, but man,
we great season, finish it off with a Rose Bowl appearance.
Yet I absolutely agree with the last calder. I missed
those Kurt in North Dakota, Kirk Herbstreet was called in.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
I'm not I did not say Okay, Kirk, No, Kurt
in North Dakota. You're in the couple of Fox Sports. Ready,
what's up, buddy?
Speaker 13 (18:03):
Hey? CAAs like, guys, you do you guys do a
great job.
Speaker 9 (18:06):
And yeah, hats off to your previous.
Speaker 13 (18:08):
Because I'm ald school too, and I really appreciate those
old bulls. But being a North Dakota guy, I'm kind
of that's ces. And I really like the playoff system.
It's twenty four teams, eight teams to get a first
round by and so it's like a big basketball tournament nationwide.
You know, you might have like a you know, like
a twenty four seed from uh, you know somewhere, you know,
playing like North Dakota State or something, and you know,
(18:30):
and that's a big deal, you know, and it's a
really good form of football. It's a really good purer.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
But the only thing is I hear that, Okay, but
I'm talking about the the uh quality games, the quality
of the games and all the blowouts, like it's good, Hey,
let's give them a chance.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
It's almost like.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
The sixteen versus one in the NCAA tournament, like every
once in a blue moon, like I think only two
teams iver won, you know what I mean, one against sixteen,
But for the most part, it's a slaughter.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
Do you enjoy those games?
Speaker 13 (19:00):
That's a good that's a good point. That's a good point.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 13 (19:03):
But you know, but Roddie's Uhgi's like lower seeds and
like eighteen a dollar. They might have like a really
a great you know, start player somewhere, you know, like
you were great man.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
I get what you're saying. But yeah, no, Kurt. The
difference is that that team you're talking like boys either
they ain't beating, but they ain't being We got a
great running back could have been the highest.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Going out of the building.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
You ain't be on the Ohio state paying more than
major League Baseball teams are their players?
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Uh? Speaking of Bob g real quick just.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Real quick, Kurt and other callers like Kurt. Just because
Rob disagrees with you don't mean you got a cave
right on, right, that's a good point.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
That's a good point.
Speaker 9 (19:38):
Man.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Minute, Wait a minute, die with the lie. Come on, Kurt,
it's just that. Come on, Kurt, after I explained it
to him.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Hurry up, man. Steve waiting, he's looking, Steve, he's eager.
He's chomping at the bit.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Steve. He's waiting to disagree with him. Wait, that's what Steve,
stevening ready for that smoke.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Do you know how many times I flipped Steve on
a topic or something?
Speaker 4 (19:58):
He almost flipped the table on you. Steven Sague's trending.

with you on a trash talking Tuesday. I haven't feel
were gonna get some more trash talking here right now.
We've got Trey Wingo, host of the pregame power up
on DraftKings Network, the good thing about a trade?
Speaker 4 (20:26):
What's up? Ben? Hopefully you're good? What's happening? The good
thing we had you on last time?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Trey, I was at home doing it from home, and
I'm glad I'm here now because now I can I
can be here if I need to, I can need
to be Miles Lane without his name, I could be him,
or I can just ope if I need to, or
if I need to, just turn off your mic and hoppy.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
Trey and I are great. Hey, Trey, what's happening?
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Let's do some are always good?
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Yes, absolutely, you know we're gonna get to all these games.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
But the big upset obviously the Lions at home nine
and a half point favorite.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Uh, how shocked were you?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
And you know, as the Lions go forward, has their
window maybe closed? I mean they were up big at
the half last year in the NFC Championship game. They
losing this game as a number one seed at home
against a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
I mean, how shocky was this for you?
Speaker 9 (21:19):
Rub? You know this as well as not anyone having
covered the Lions for so many years. This is the
first time they were the number one seed in franchise history.
We seeded teams in the playoffs this nineteen seventy five.
Speaker 5 (21:30):
But honestly, it wasn't that surprising to me for a
couple of reasons. You know, since the start of twenty
twenty three, the Lions have averaged thirty point two points
per game, which is the best in the NFL. Over basically,
you know, forty games, including two regular seasons and playoff games,
they scored thirty one. You know, they had one point
(21:52):
sixteen players on the defensive side of the ball and
injury reserve, and just to put that in perspective, that's
basically all eleven stars and five backups. That's how depleted
they've been defensively. And they got alns Alniback. I understand that,
and that was very helpful.
Speaker 9 (22:08):
And the week eighteen went over Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (22:10):
But you know, they did what they always do offensively,
They just couldn't stop anybody.
Speaker 9 (22:16):
And it's not taking anything away from Jay Daniels, who
has been amazing. And I remember talking to herm Edwards
he had Arizona State and he was telling me this
kid was going to.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Be special, but they just didn't have bodies. At one
point after one of the cornerbacks got injured in that
playoff game, they put a rookie on the field at cornerback.
Speaker 9 (22:35):
That was his first defensive snap of the year. He had,
you know, he had done special team snaps.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
But that's it now. Look, obviously the Jared Gouff picksits
for the half didn't help, and that was bad. You
have five turnovers, that's.
Speaker 9 (22:47):
Never going to do it. But they were just so
depleted defensively. It doesn't surprise me because they were still
behind the eight ball. That's the best way I can
explain it.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
All right, that's the real quick two onyre at Golf
and then we'll move on to the other games. But
I call him Jared Loss. And there's a reason that
the you know, rams moved off for him. He got
him to the Super Bowl. You remember that team average
thirty five pills a game. They had three points in
that Super Bowl against Bill Belichick's defense.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
And here was the moment.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
He played well all year and the big moment and
the four turnovers.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
I mean, this is the rap on him. Kenny win
a big game.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
If you're the Lions, how do you feel about Jared
Golf today?
Speaker 9 (23:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:34):
I think they're comfortable with him because you know, they
obviously paid him the big money.
Speaker 9 (23:38):
I don't think he's going anywhere. It's just they are.
They're stuck with him. I mean, it's not the same
level as Cleveland stuck with Deshaun Watson because of that
fully guaranteed contract, which by the way, there's no way
around that. I mean, whatever, they're gonna do that he
it's a seventy two million dollar cap at the next.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
Two years, but they're not going anywhere because they've.
Speaker 9 (24:01):
Committed to him. And look, do I believe Jared Goff
can play well in the postseason? I do. I saw
him last year.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
I saw him take a seventeen point lead against the
forty nine ers on the road, and I have some
questions about Dan Campbell going forward on fourth down in
the second half, where a field goal would have kept
them up seventeen, and I think that might have been
a smarter decision.
Speaker 9 (24:23):
I'm not I think the lines are going to be
fine with Jared Goff.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
It was a bad time to have a bad game,
which is the best way I can say. It looks
he's never going to be Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 9 (24:34):
Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
That's not who he is, That's never going to be
who he is.
Speaker 9 (24:40):
But what he has around him is good enough.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
And he had an off night on a bad night,
and the defense just was not there for him in
that game.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Yeah, I don't think Jerry's the issue. They get healthy,
they keep moving along. I think they'll be okay. Trey Wingos,
our guest, hosts a pregame power up on the DraftKings Network. Trey,
I want to go to the other game that happened
over the wa weekend. One everybody was excited about Bill's Ravens.
These are two quarterbacks, as we've seen before, where they're.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Competing against you know, they're there the Peyton.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Manning, Drew Brees, you know, competing against Tom Brady and
and Patrick Mahomes. They're trying to be the one to
get through and finally get to the super Bowl and
win one. Let's start with Lamar. Is he looking at
Is it a matter of time? Robin and I both
believe it's a matter of time before he gets one.
He's just too good. Where do you come out on
This is a game too big for him, just a
matter of time. He's only twenty eight years. You can't
(25:29):
squeeze the balls? Or is he too tight in these moments?
What do you make of Lamar and in his playoff struggles?
Speaker 9 (25:35):
Now, well, here's the way I can answer that, just
objectively and honestly. All you want from your quarterback. The
only thing you want from your quarterback is when the
game's on the line, does he put yourself in a
position to win or extend the game? Like?
Speaker 5 (25:52):
No, no, no playoff game is won in the first half.
And yes, he hit two turnovers, the fumble and the
interception in the first half.
Speaker 9 (26:00):
He had nine giveaways the entire regular season.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
So that was an aberration, right, But he was the
best player in the second half of that football game.
And I cannot I cannot look at that game.
Speaker 9 (26:14):
And say Lamar is the reason they lost. In the
same way I cannot look at the twenty twenty one
divisional game between the Chiefs and the.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
Bills where Josh Allen gave them the lead with thirteen
seconds play and the Chiefs.
Speaker 9 (26:27):
Won because the Bills screwed up on the special team's
decisions to take it into the end zone. So yes,
it's obvious.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Look, we always wait way too much on quarterbacks, Lamar.
Speaker 9 (26:38):
Did his job. I mean, like the best Vegan struck guy.
It's like, you know, Patrick Mahomes has been behind by
ten points in every one of his three Super Bowl wins.
I'm not judging him on being behind the points. I'm
judging him on what he was able to do after
that position and put the team in a position to win.
And I look, I believe Lamar did that.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Look, the first half turnovers were not great, they were
not ideal, but all of that didn't matter because at
the end of the day, in that game, he gave
them a chance to win or extend the game. And
that's all you can ask for your quarterback. Will he
get one? Honestly, I don't know he's good enough to.
But like, there's a reason Charles Barkley.
Speaker 9 (27:18):
Carlmelo, Gary Payton, Sean Timp, go on and on.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
None of these guys have raised because Michael Jordan exists. Okay,
And that's the problem with Josh Allen and Joe Burrow
and Lamar Jackson and anybody else you want to talk about,
because fifteen is still there playing in his seventh straight
AFC Championship game. But the chances that it was fifth
Super Bowl guy in seven years as a starter, So
(27:42):
the window was still there for the Ravens, but that
other guy had the problem.
Speaker 9 (27:46):
That's the problem.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Let's go to the Washington Eagles game.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Know what do you like in that matchup?
Speaker 5 (27:56):
Well, look, obviously the Eagles have been great all year,
telling you they beat the Rams because of the snow.
Speaker 9 (28:02):
For sure, that was a huge factor in that game.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
And the Rams had two critical turnovers in the fourth quarter,
the Kyrad Williams fumble and then the punch out on
Puka Nakula, and kudos to Jalen Carter for doing that.
Speaker 9 (28:16):
Kudos to the Eagles for making that happen.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
But I was watching that game and I'm like, I
think the Rams are gonna win twenty nine to twenty
eight when this.
Speaker 9 (28:23):
Is all said and done.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
The Big Bad Eagles, with their dons on the line
of scrimmage from their offense one a defensive line they
they want, they met their match against the Rams, and look,
I think I think the Commanders have a puncher's chance
to win this.
Speaker 9 (28:39):
Game because Jon Jason the win James playing.
Speaker 5 (28:41):
The best way I can describe it is there was
a time in the seventies when I when a backup
quarterback to the cow was.
Speaker 9 (28:47):
In Clint Long.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
We came in to win a game, and one of
the defensive tackles said, this was.
Speaker 9 (28:51):
A victory for the unpluttered mind. In other words, this
guy didn't know what he didn't know, and there was
no downside.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
He hadn't been disappointed yet, he hadn't been heartbroken, and
he just went on to.
Speaker 9 (29:02):
Win the game. Jade's kind of in that mode right now.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
He's in this situation where nothing has ever been bad.
You know, they had a three game streak in the middle.
Speaker 9 (29:11):
Of the season, but from Week fifteen on.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
They basically just won and won almost every week on
the last play of the game.
Speaker 9 (29:18):
Except for the Divisional round.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
He has no starring, he has no negative memories, so
I think that's a huge thing for them. I would
lean towards Philadelphia, but it would not surprise me at
all if the Commanders found a way kept Jadie did.
It would be the first rookie quarterback to play on
Super Sunday.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
And last thing the Bills and the Chiefs. Bills didn't
get much done in the.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Second half offensively, and even Josh Allen didn't have the
greatest game.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
You know, he did what he had to do. Can
they beat the Chiefs.
Speaker 9 (29:50):
They can, absolutely, But I'm the last one out on
Kansas City rather as you well know.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Yes, these guys.
Speaker 9 (29:56):
This is who they are, this is what they do.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
I feel like the entire regular season has been just
to get to this point. And you know, people are like, oh,
Travis Kelsey, he's terrible, he's no good. Well, in his
last two games, he's absolutely dominated. When they had to
have the number one seed, he crushed the Pittsburgh she
was a ten one team on the road and when
By the way, the Texans defense was probably the toughest
matchup for Kansas City of any defense throughout this postseason.
(30:22):
They have lockdown corners and great pressure and Kelsey had
one hundred and nineteen yards in a touchdown. He has
more thunderd yard receiving games than Jerry.
Speaker 9 (30:30):
Rice in the postseason.
Speaker 5 (30:33):
This is how ridiculous this guy is.
Speaker 9 (30:35):
Look Candon Bill's win, absolutely, but I am hanging on
to Kansas City until I don't breathe, until they are
dead and buried. Not sixteen under but fifteen feet under.
This is who they are, This is what they do.
Last year. They were never the.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
Best team in football until they won the whole damn thing.
And I think they are prepared for this moment and
they are ready to do what nobody else has ever done.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
Is what I'm love to happen is that I want
to choose the line up for that game winning field
goal and they miss it and for once Buffalo is
not on the end.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
That's my ending that, you know what I mean?
Speaker 9 (31:13):
You're not wrong.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
I think I think America one bills command Yes, super Bowl.
Speaker 9 (31:19):
That would be honest about it.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
That would be something.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
I think they're probably gonna get a Chief Eagles one.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Oh yeah, they're.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Gonna They're gonna get let me say, the Chiefs are
gonna win again. We're all gonna sit here today after
Super Bowl. Go well, didn't we know that was coming?
Didn't we see this coming? Why do we think something
Differently's right?
Speaker 8 (31:36):
Man?
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Thank you go ahead.
Speaker 9 (31:38):
He's sixteen to three in the postseason.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
That's the second most playoff wins for any quarterback time.
Speaker 9 (31:45):
Joe Montana who won sixteen playoff games in sixteen seasons.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
Guys, he's been the starter for seven seasons and he
has sixteen playoffs.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Joe Montana four to no eleven touchdowns, no picks two
with Jerry Rode, two without Jerry Rice. And he won
three MVPs in the Super Bowl and twice Trey he
had to throw a game winning touchdown to win the game.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
Not on the kicker. I'm just John John.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
John Taylor Super Bowl twenty three right, twenty to sixteen
over the Bengel.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
No doubt.
Speaker 9 (32:17):
Appreciate two straight since.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
They got rid of Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 9 (32:20):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (32:21):

get three straight. Be the first to do that. Thank
you so much, Trey Man. We appreciate you and we
played found still early Yeah line yet.

Speaker 8 (33:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (33:13):
They were journalism students.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Did they both realized they had blue eyes soul? Is
that what it was? But they were you know, I
want you to have blue eye soul back in to day.
I mean you have it now, but I'm saying, you know,
back when we called it that and now they call
it yacht rock, but it was a blue eyes soul
back then.
Speaker 7 (33:28):
Oh and also, don't hold the lead, gentleman.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Why can I hear you.
Speaker 7 (33:33):

He's going to be so sort of like, no, I'm
not even trying to be funny. You know, listen, when
you don't do something for a long I don't care
if you used to do one hundred and five. Do
ten sit ups right now. If you haven't done them
in six months, you're gonna.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Be like, what is going on? Did I pull something like?
Speaker 9 (34:06):
No?
Speaker 4 (34:06):
You did ten setups yesterday for rob g you got
any ben gate.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Now you're again your your push ups were a little
I ain't gonna lie they were little. No, I'm just
gonna get rid of the ben part when you ask
for that, or just say you've been yo dis.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Close to calling hr during rods bush ups.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Yeah, it's push ups. I ain't gonna lie. Your arms
stayed up and your lower half was dipping. That was
it all the way from the chests and then there

Speaker 13 (35:08):
The guys you're.
Speaker 9 (35:10):
Taking my call.
Speaker 14 (35:11):
Great show, great show.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
Thank you appreciate it.
Speaker 13 (35:13):
I thought the college.
Speaker 14 (35:14):
Playoffs stunk, and I'll tell you why. What's different between
the pros and the college is you get to know
the personalities and the pros. I may not be a
Cincinnati fan, but Joe Burrow you get to know, You
get to know the different quarterbacks, and that becomes it
makes it exciting college. I don't know who the different
teams are, who their players are. And another thing that
(35:34):
happens is there's when the regular season. Now it doesn't
make any it's not worth anything. I mean you can
have three losses and still get in. What used to
be important is you watch a team win one and
one loss and.
Speaker 13 (35:47):
That would be an important game.
Speaker 14 (35:49):
Now it doesn't mean nothing. And I could lose two
three games and they still get it.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
And we saw it with the Ohio State losing to
a bad Michigan team.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Right, they want it all.
Speaker 14 (35:58):
Yeahley the old days, they won't have even gotten in.
So the regular season and it's too long, you know, Kyle,
when you look at the basketball stuff that happened so fast.
Sixty four thirty two, sixteen four weeks, this is two months.
I didn't even watch the game.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
I didn't unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
You ain't miss much, all right, Chris and s Chris
appreciate you brother, all right? Uh yeah, he didn't really
miss too much with the game. And again that the
crazy part about it is we're talking about these twelve
teams and about what two three, four years we're gonna
get probably get to sixteen twenty four or something like that.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Well we're gonna get to that many. So just I
just hope they'll get crazy, you know what I mean, Well.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
They're gonna they're gonna be crazy. You already know they're
gonna be crazy. That's just part of what they absolutely do.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
All right. We enjoyed it. Tomorrow what worship Wednesday? Looking
forward to that.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
