Rob and Kelvin tell us who they believe is the quarter-pole NFL MVP thus far, and take the Philadelphia Phillies to task for the bizarre baserunning decision in the 9th inning of their Game 3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Plus, Super Bowl champion and NFL analyst Seth Joyner swings by to discuss the Phillies’ Game 3 meltdown, the narrative that there’s tension between AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts, why the Eagles passing offense (and the rushing offense, for that matter) has struggled to start the season, and much more!

It is The Couple on a Magic City Monday, Rob Parker,
kelvin Washington, right here on Fox Sports Radio. Business fluctuations
make running your manufacturing business complex, but staffing your.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Business doesn't have to be.

Speaker 3 (00:43):

Speaker 4 (00:53):
That's Expresspros dot com. And now it's time for.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
The Expresspros Expresspro of the Week, I should say, and
this week's pro goes to Bucks quarterback Baker Mayfield, who
threw for three hundred and seventy nine yards two touchdowns
in a win over Sam Donald and the Seahawks. Again
Mazel tov, congratulations to another hit by the Phillies.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Did you see this the bullpens melting down? Oh boy?
So Congratsu and that's what we talked about.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Congrats to Baker Mayfield for being our Express Pro of
the week. Yeah, coming up, Seth Joyner is going to
join a Super Bowl champ and of course NFL analyst.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
He'll join us.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
He's actually rob g at this game right in Philadelphia,
and here we are. It's four to three, just like,
and there's nobody out. It was for nothing coming into
the ninth. You see just reached out who was and
punched the ball or left field. Unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
That's why I said the Dodgers seriously needs six runs.
He missed them. Did you see that swept him? Wow?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
He had to actually the ball there before Constellano Costianos
had that, but that was a double. This is why
you said play for the top. Why I say they
need six runs. It's just been one of those seasons,
especially last month or so for them. But this also
makes for some great compelling UH based MLB posts Baseball.

(02:24):
It ain't gonna be compelling for Dodgers. Fan't sick because
he'll be sick for nothing. Going into the ninth.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
You could go up two wall. You can't lose that.
You can't lose this game. You can't lose.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
They better not lose the challenge. I don't I don't
think they're gonna win the child. I think he missed them.
You better figure something out, right, I think he missed him.
It's gonna be crazy, all right. Uh, our number three,
we want to talk about the m.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
V P and the n Oh. Yeah, we had Who's
Shawn earlier? You brought up Dak.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
A lot of people are giving Dak a lot of
praise right now for what he's been doing. And Dak
Prescott has looked great when you look at you know,
just kind of some of his numbers.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Throughout this season, Dak has been doing his thing. People
mentioned the fact that Ceed Lamb his number one receivers gone,
but they get to win thirty seven to twenty two
over the Jets, and he's been putting up great numbers.
That game, he was eighteen to nineteen with two hundred
and thirty seven. He had four touchdowns, no interception. Is
his twelve game, who do you Play the Jets?

Speaker 4 (03:17):
The j e T.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
And there's his twelfth game with at least four touchdown
passes and he already has a franchise record. So he's
continuing to have the franchise record and.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Jacksonville just lost the game tonight, a chance to tie
the game right there on the inch yard go foward
on fourth down. And not only that, but you allowed
him to march right down the field and score right
off of that. Like that's the worst. Like they're at
the half yard line. That's where you have to get
you know what I mean. You need to get them
three and out and you get good field positioned and

(03:50):
then you could justify it.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
You know who has two big bombs this game, Taekwan Thornton.
And I keep telling y'all he was wide open. But
that's what I'm saying. They got too many guys now.
They went from having none to having a bunch worthies
back Thornton's back, Rashid Rice ain't even back yet, and
they got Hollywood Brown. That's what I was telling you all.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
This is crazy. There's too much going on. By the way, fourteen.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Nothing Chiefs and the Dodgers look like they're trying to
choke down a four to nothing lead in the bottom
of the night. They have Phillies, nobody out man on second,
the time running second, and the winning running to play
two run home running games over.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Too much going on now With that being said, too
much going on, and and clutch games and type performances.
So everybody's saying, Dak Prescott and I VP.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Ceedee lambs out. You got a couple of guys out.
You have turping out Pickens. George Pickens is a legit
receiver is.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
And that's what TJ was saying, like, let's he's the
number one kid, he's not a number one and he's
playing with scrubs.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
And my biggest thing is this a couple of things.
The Dallas Cowboys are now what two and one? He's
beat that can't even pull it up right now? They
beat they just beat the Jets, Jets, and who's the
other one who they have to.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Beat the person?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
They beat the Giants right Oh, and they beat the
Giants and they let the Giants put up big numbers
on them.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Russ went crazy. I rushed my case.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Really, what you lead to the conversation to me of
when we were talking about last year, Joe Burrow couldn't
have got you know, he had no chance to be
an MVP because he was putting up amazing numbers, but
his team wasn't winning.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
So to me, we can't. We can't all of a
sudden change the rules.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
And a guy I'm looking at as the leading candidate
right now would be Baker Mayfield. For me, rob g
cover your ears because you buried him. And he's laughing
at you. He's talking big smack to you right now,
just like he was doing with the Seahawks fans. I'm
not like, you didn't see it.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
You're lucky. I can't say what he said to them
because I'll get fired.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Boy, Baker Mayfield be talking big stuff to players on
the field and the fans.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
He says some stuff I'm like, whoa Baker.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Baker Mayfield has been has been incredible really the last
couple of years. But what he's doing right now, he's
fourth and passing yards, he is tied for third in touchdowns,
he only has an interception. His quarterback ratings eighth. I
mean he and all four of his wins. He's come back.
He's been able to do it, you know, in a
multitude of ways. Looks like they're out of it. He

(06:13):
gets his team back, So Baker mayf and he's doing
he talking about doing it out your league, guys, doing
about Mike Evans. There's possible Hall of Fame receiver, So
Baker Mayfel to me is my leading candidate as we
sit here today of MVP more than anything. I just
like what he's been doing. I like what he brings
it out of organization. I like how he stabilizes them
there in every game, he competes to the end, and

(06:33):
I'm leaning more towards him. They're four and one right now,
They've beating some good teams and they're in a good
position to obviously win their division and obviously getting to
the postseason. Wards the Cowboys, we still don't know what
they're gonna be. Ultimately, what are they? What can they be?
You know, nine and eight, ten and seven at best,
and that might be pushing it more like nine and
eight in my opinion, And that's not going to cut
it for the MVP until the NFL decides to do

(06:55):
one of the what the NBA did when they gave
it to Russ and he was a sixth seed and
they said, just can he's averaging a triple double. It's
just that great what he's doing, because they're not going
to give it to a team that's nine and eight.
They're not going to give it to the Cowboys. So
Dak really doesn't have a chance. To me, he didn't
win it when they were twelve and five and he
had like thirty nine touchdowns and six interceptions or something
like that when he was a runner up. So Dak,

(07:16):
I get it. The numbers are great, but two two
and one is not going to cut it. I'm looking
at a guy like Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
What what are the Phillies doing? I just I was
there's too much going on, and I looked up at
the other guy. What they just do?

Speaker 3 (07:29):
So they try to bunt and take the men out
of scoring position and they throw them out at third base. Oh,
oh my god, Like you can't what that's not the play?

Speaker 4 (07:42):
I mean, are you kidding? He's out by a mob.
He was not even a question. He tried to take
Mooki out because he knew he was so out.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
No, but that's just because now you don't have a
runner's corposition. You got a man off first with one out,
you know what I mean, It's totally different. A double
play in the game's over right, Like, like what this
is overthinking? Seriously, you got a man on second second
with nobody out, and now you've got a man on
first with one hour, like you took yourself out of
scoring position.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
The whole game change now bad bad, all right? Where
you at MVP. I'm just it's too soon. And I'm
gonna say this.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
I know that you know, people get caught up on
guys early on. It's just too early for me to
honestly think that it's not going to be the usual
suspects involved when when the time comes, you know what
I mean, Like, I'm dead serious. I just can't see
as you just brought up nine and eight or some
bad team and and and and let's just take a look, Rob,

(08:42):
do you have the list? I got the last ten winners.
It's a regular who's who of future Hall of fame.
And that's what I'm saying. It ain't like, uh, Sam
Darnold came out of nowhere. He was never winning the
m v P.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Rob, there's one name that might change your line think,
but but nine out of ten, I'm pretty good. Josh Allen,
Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson,
Patrick Mahomes, all the regular guys, right, Tom Brady, This
is where it gets weird. The last two Matt Ryan

(09:15):
and Cam Newton.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Okay, Now the difference is both of them had like
their teams were good.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
He won a bunch of games, want bunch of games,
both of them.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
And they put up like unbelievable numbers, like they were
both fourteen and two without even looking at the record.
I'm telling you they're like fourteen and two. Well we
know Cam was what fifteen and one? Fifteen and one,
and I Big Ryan was like.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Thirteen and three at the least at the.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Like, they want a ton of games and he put
up a lot of me ask you, I mean so,
rob G, that's well taken, but it ain't some guy
who's been bounced around and you.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Know, eleven and five Matt Ryan, and there's the hit
that would have talked together a game. Let me throw
throw one. Let me do rob G. Let me ask you,
Let me ask you. Both of y'all are question on
this one. Yeah, they could have died again. Now they're
going to mess it now, double plays about to happen
for sure. Let me let me ask you both this
question here warning warning, warning, I promised you as not

(10:15):
being biased.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Warning stop. Why is it no real question? Though?

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Why isn't Jared Goff just picks the base off the
numbers in success you mentioned. They put up a stat
at the game yesterday. Since twenty twenty four he leaves
the league. And I think it's touchdown passes and yards
or something for quarterbacks, like the last eighteen game, something
like that. I'm looking at his numbers right now. Team
is obviously four on one. He's first in touchdowns first,
and completion percentage again by far seventy five percent. It's

(10:42):
crazy second, and passer rating and ninth and total yards.
But really asking y'all, it only has two interceptions? Why
is that?

Speaker 5 (10:51):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (10:52):
The team's too good meeting? There's too many guys? Like,
real question, both of y'all tell me, because you brought
it up last year. You were saying, no, no, no, I'm
talking about you. Always said Patrick Holmes fifteen to two.
Why didn't he get a vote? I'm saying, Jared Goff
probably gotta vote. I didn't look it up, but what
did he get last year?

Speaker 4 (11:09):
He got a vote? No, I think it was just
the two guys. It was Josh and Lamar.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
Okay, well, but currently no, now they do the five.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
That's what they changed it, right, But now the guys
was like first place, we got first place. That's why
I say Patrick Mahomes got a couple of am I right,
like third place votes or something. He didn't get any
first place. I've always said that, you know that he
never got a fit.

Speaker 6 (11:30):
But I think again, it's so early, But yes, Jared
Goff should absolutely be in the mix, because here's an
even better stat for you.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Wait, did Luki think it was three outs?

Speaker 5 (11:41):
No?

Speaker 4 (11:41):
He just making sure to run doesn't break home.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
Okay, Jared Goff, you did the right through the first
five games. One of only two quarterbacks now to complete
seventy five percent of his passes, throw for twelve plus
touchdown to have a passer rating of over one hundred
and twenty. Jared Goff this season and Peyton Manning twenty
thirteen when he threw a fifty five touchdown passes and ran.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Away with the m v P.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
So, if we don't have a Lamar Jackson type who
was just gonna put up put in a show game
record right on the on the on the record books,
Josh Allen may not have enough numbers and the storyline's
kind of gone now at this point, not because they lost,
but because he got that last year where it's like, hey,
you can't get the Superman vote two years in a row.

(12:24):
Numbers are not incredible, right, Who else is there that's
putting up crazy numbers other than Jared Goff Baker Mayfield?
And if you're gonna give a guy that the storyline
m VP, it's Dak through the first quarterpole and that's
somebody who's putting up just a ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
No, it's got to be that guy. And that's why
I was really asking you.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
His team is for one, they looked like they might go,
you know, have another great year again, size ten and.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Chris remember when Chris went to the store. Do you
remember when Chris went to the store and tried him
on and he filmed at the store. But but I
was asking, remember the Dodgers were up two to zero
in that five game series, but he did that.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
He had some bad ones.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
But that's why I was asking you first and completion
percentage by far first and touchdowns twelve. It only has
two interceptions. I'm like, dude, putting up crazy numbers. The
team is blowing and last year, remember point differential blowing
everybody good team's bad teams. So That's why I was
asking you guys, like why why is it? Because the
peak view of mass loaded, you know what I mean,
Like you've got too much talent and I'm wondering if

(13:29):
that's hurting him a little bit. We'll see as the
season goes along. Was that a Travis Hunter sighting?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Yeah, there's time for that story to percolate.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
But I don't know, I don't know if they if
they really, he would have to put up eyepop and
know all things changed, like the way you feel, and it's.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
Not fair, you know what I mean, Like he's because
the numbers, last numbers are operable.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
I think Jared Gosne will be better and because he's a
better offense. But if they're comparable and they're thirteen and
four and Baker gets them to twelve and five eleven
to six, Baker's going to get those votes before Jared Goff.
I agree because of the storyline is people are gonna
say no that.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
A Baker Mayfield the only thing go ahead And the
other one is that you're not.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
That's an interception. How was that draft? See? Yeah, only
only two dbs touched that for the Chiefs or was
it three? I think it was three? Was it three?
God three, which is unbelieved.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah, but that wasn't That was a receiver fault.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
He put it right there. I don't know what that was,
but I think all three guys touched it, didn't they? Yeah?
I think too many know we got.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
But to your point, rob Gi, I think right there,
I think Jared Goff the only chance he would have
is if people went, well, shoot, this is two years
in a row of being fifteen and two or being
as you mentioned when you said, like thirteen and four. Well,
I think that would help him, Like, all right, this
dude has been on fire for two three years. Now
that finally could be the storyline. Like it's time to
reward him for being that great for two or three years.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
All Right, you got it, Dodgers, get out of it.
It's unbelievable. Oh got a bad throw at first pace.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
They didn't make it, they make it easy.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
I'm reready. Freeman broke his other ang he did, I
blame I blame the Phillies. Yeah, that was.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
That terrible where you got thrown out a third base?
Can can I just say this real quick? Steve the
Seger is the most new Zist of newsmen in the
history of news. But he's the biggest, cheering his ass off,
and in the studio we love to see it.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Steve.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
He's so mad at you right now. Don't you ever
go behind the curtain right now? I got you, Steve, No,
you were paint no attention to that man behind the curtain.
Oh man, that's funny, all right?

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Uh? Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Who do
you have as the order poll MVP in the NFL?
Baker Mayfield?

Speaker 4 (16:05):
What was do we say? You got Baker? You got
Jared Goff?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
You got Dak Prescott, Dak Prescott. That's right, Jared Goff,
all those people and the Cubs were on the board.
Looks like they hit a home run right one nothing
playoff baseball? One nothing in Milwaukee, three nothing three a
three run home run three not?

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Wow? Okay? It is the odd couple. Eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox, Steve, Steve, you got the night
off all right?

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Because Robins, look at do this conversation next with you?

Speaker 4 (16:30):
I can't help it's playoff baseball. It's the odd couple
right here.

Speaker 3 (16:33):

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Let's say this, what chad Wards are moving the ball
like they've moved the ball entire game, haven't they?

Speaker 1 (17:06):
I mean, listen, If they don't they half that way,
it should be able to be a game.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
No, there's there's there a good.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Fourteen to seven and two minutes to go, you know,

check out a leave all right. Uh, you have been
just beyond mad right now at the Phillies.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
No, and it's not an anti Dodger thing. It's just
based on this one.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
You know that I'll give you this is could you
set it to right when we first saw it? And
here's the issue that we have. Okay, So the Phillies
came storming back. It was four to nothing, bottom of
the night. They get three straight hits. You know, it's
four to three. They have a man on second, is
nobody out? And the Phillies decide that they're gonna bunt

(18:15):
the runner over the third base, the tying run, not
the winning the tying run.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
It didn't make any sense. He's in scoring position. He
can score from there.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
You don't need to be at third, right, You can't
afford him to get out what you got out at
third base.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
Right.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
The Max Muntsey fielded the bunt and through the Mookie
who came from short stop to cover third.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I don't know what they were thinking. They think the.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Dodgers are gonna allow you just to butt and move
over without trying to throw you out like they'll try.
If they didn't get it, then there's runners on first
and third. They have to play the infield in any way,
try to get a line drive at somebody. My point
is you had three chances to knock in the time
run and guess what. Two of the next three guys

(19:09):
got hits. He just took the next guy got a hit.
You got two hits after that, right, And the crazy
part again is no outs, three batters to at least
have a chance to knock him in, or somebody could
hit a ball. Say that left inded battle hit a
ball a second base, he moves over the third sacrifice
fly to games with.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
No outs too.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
And the way you got you know, if you're looking
at it, if you're the Phillies, the way you're hitting
the ball, you got a chance to mess around and
not only just tie this thing, take a lead.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
But who's that's overmanaging that?

Speaker 1 (19:39):
And that's to me when we talk with you and
I had we talked baseball at the time, and I
bring this up, it's just it seems like the the field,
the natural field, the gut instinct of the game is gone.
It's very much well, this is exactly what you do
on this exact situation.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
We have it written down. Here's the formula, the winning formula.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
I don't like that formula taking a run around it
because immediately what I say, now, you got one out the.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Man first, and that's that, and that you didn't score, right,
and that that's a better double play could have ended
the game at that point.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
And they wound up getting two more hits, but they couldn't.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Score, and you had the Dodgers shook it because the
Bill Penn. We've been talking about the bullpen for now
three four weeks.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Even the night even though they won that game, you
look at a bullpen and you go, dude, this is
happening on a regular base.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
And it happened in a couple of games already in
the postseason. What did I tell you? I said, Dodger
have to get six.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Reads against the Reds scored runs against the bullpen.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I said, the Dodgers have to get six runs to
feel to kind of go and feel comfortable, which is
crazy because that just can't be sustainable. You can't keep
needing to have, you know, a million runs per game,
like your offense is looking at it like it's it's
opposite the schoobl and the Tigers.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Right, he's looking like, uh, what more.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Do y'all want from me? Can I get a hit?
More than two? Three hits in the game? And the
Dodgers the opposite, They're like, man, we're putting.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Up getting no hit for most of the game. I mean,
Schoob can't. He's got to be perfect, like they don't.
They never score any great game.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Gave up two allo home runs and he's looking at
his team like, can I get some help?

Speaker 4 (21:02):
What more do y'all want from me?

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
It is The O Couple.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Thank you, Steve, I Couple Robin Kelvin on a Magic
City Monday. Some great action going on. You got the
Jacks trying to drive here, try tight this game less
than a minute and you know if you're.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
The Cubs three nothing and we can't even hold onto that.
My god dang.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Brewer said, anything you can do, I can do better.
My goodness. Join now by Seth Joiner. Super Bowl Champion
NFL analyst set Joiner on X and by the way,
we'll get to some football in a minute. But as
leaving Philly right now, was at the Phillies game Dodgers.
It was a close with Phillies had a chance. But
what happened? We're trying to get that second runner on
second to third. Man, did that change the entire tenor

(21:50):
and move to the whole stadium?

Speaker 4 (21:51):
My goodness, Seth, what's up?

Speaker 5 (21:53):
Hey man? I don't want to hear y'all's noise from
LA Man. What a what a? What a bonehead decision
to try to move a runner for second to third
and he's the slowest guy on your darn roster. Man,
it doesn't make sense.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Set You notice he's already in scoring position. You don't
want to do that? No outs, What are you trying
to do?

Speaker 5 (22:15):
Leave him there? Let the next guy swing away? Yes,
you getting out at first, there's no no force in second.
The next guy gets up, hits a single. That's a
walk in yep, that's a that's that's a walk in
ty games, you know, And you still got a guy
on first base.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Crazy, just just an unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
When I first guessed it, I thought, what what I
know people in Philadelphia are shocked because the Phillies coming
into the postseason were the favorites to win the World Series,
not get out of the National League, Seth, but actually
to win the World Series.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
Yeah, you know what the problem is, man, when they
get behind an account, they won't choke up on the
on the back and put the ball in play. Everybody.
You know they're one three or hit us tonight and
all year long, they've been swinging for the fences and
you just can't play that way. You got to put
the ball in play and let the guy behind you
do what he's gotta do. But you know, that's the

(23:10):
way that they play, and in the postseason always seems
to bite them in the behind.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Well, that's just baseball as a whole. Right now. They're
in a bad spot down.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
You know, you lose at home, you lose two games,
it's differently you at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Man, Listen, I was. I was with my brother to
night and he was talking about them cleaning up the stadium.
I said, don't worry about this. The last time they're
gonna have.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
To do it, Seth, join our guest super Bowl champ
and if for andalyst said, let's stay in Philly, Let's
go to the Eagle rough a couple of days for
Eagle fans, I mean Philly fans, just if you're a
Philadelphia sports fan talking.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
About, Yeah, finally lost one the Egles.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Obviously they fall short and more than anything, to me,
it's just what's going on. You got Davanta Smith who talks.
He normally doesn't say much. He said a little bit
of the last couple of years about the golfense, AJ
Brown who can't wait to talk about the offense and
that last play them two in the end zone could
have DeVante could have had to help Mary but a
Brown trying to tackle him. And what's going on in

(24:09):
Philly right now? More so, like I said, there is
something going on in the locker room. You feel where
they're just not on the same page as Devontae Smith.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Said, No, I think it's a it's a culmination of things.
I think, you know, the new offensive coordinated, first time
play caller is trying to get his seat wet and
trying to figure it out teams and figure it out
a way to make it difficult, you know, for Sakun
to get started. The offensive line is a little banged up,
so they're not playing, you know, at that normal level.

(24:36):
So you know, it's a confluence of different things that's
going on. Just got them in a place where they
you know, where they haven't found their rhythm yet. And
be honest with you, you know, four and oh, you
don't have a whole lot to complain about. Just put
your head down and go to work and figure out,
you know, how to how to play the game more consistently.
But you know, Sunny's game was another one of those
games that they literally just gave away, you know, I

(24:59):
mean they they could, they should have won that game.
You going to the fourth quarter of you with a
fourteen point lead, you know, against the second year quarterback.
There's no reason in the world why you should walk away,
you know, with a with a hel and you know,
like you said, they almost came up, you know, with
the play at the end to win the game. But
you know it's just as usual. You know, you got

(25:21):
one guy is supposed to be the jumper and one
guy is supposed to be behind the pile to try
to figure out how he's going to He may get
the tip ball right, but they wind up both on
the ball which was crazy to me that the defense
would allow both of them to get that close. And
you know, when you're looking up, you don't know where
the other guy is. So I don't think it's one
of those situations where aj knew that DeVante was there.
They were both looking up at the ball, saw the

(25:42):
ball come in, thought they both had to play on it,
and they knocked it out of each other's hands.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
The other thing you're gonna ask is, I know you
look at good teams, a team that obviously won a
Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
You're not going to win every week. You know this.
You played in the NFL. It's hard.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
We saw Buffalo lose a game people thought they were
gonna wine.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Chargers loss.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Right, they were up ten to nothing against Washington at home,
gave up twenty seven straight points, had a chance at
one point when there's twenty, and then Herbert threw an
interception at the goal line. All I'm saying is other
guys are playing too and things don't always go your way.
And if you're the Eagles, you just had just won
ten in a row, right, you got to still feel good.

(26:27):
I mean, obviously you would like to have that one,
but it's not the end of the world. You're not
gonna win every week.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
So well, I don't think the expectation, you know, was
that they were going to go undefeated. But the expectation
isn't either that you ever give away a game the
way that they gave it away. You know, I mean,
the rest can contributed, and I certainly you guys know me,
I won't have a put it on the rest, But
I mean, how do you have two flags in the

(26:53):
fourth quarter that's picked up after the flag is on
the ground, the ref came back and they picked it up.
They missed the a P I called end of the
game on Dallas got it down on the sideline. So
it's just a confluence of things, you know, And they
didn't they quite frankly, didn't play well enough to win
that game in the first in the fourth quarter. You know,

(27:13):
the dominant side of that football team is the offensive
line and the defensive line. And defensively, they couldn't stop
the run, and offensively, you know, they couldn't dominate the
line of scrimmags. You know, the Denver Broncos defensive lineman
pretty much lived in our backfield all day long, you know,
limited Sae Kwon and putting pressure on Jaalen. So you know,

(27:35):
the games that you're supposed to win, you gotta win
because you just never know down the stretch, you know
how that loss is going to pan out. Like I said,
you don't. No one came into season thinking that anybody
who was going to play this entire year and be undeseated,
you know, with all the parody in the NFL, but
it certainly hurts a lot more when you lose a
game that you had in your back pocket.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Well stay there for a minute, because I feel like
one of just so much happened in the NFL. But
one of the more understated storylines is you just mentioned
a running game.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Sakwan Barkley had a too.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
He had two thousand yards offensive play, the all this stuff,
big stats from last year.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
He's struggling right now. They can't go. He's on a
deer selling little le Caesars pizzas. That what it is,
That's what it is.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Three's averaging sent he's averaging he has six carries for
thirty yards against the the Broncos. He's averaging three point
one yards per carry this season. That's the second worst
by Eagle running back since nineteen ninety one. What is
going on this after being having a historic year.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Well, I mean, if you really want a deep dive,
you know, go to my Twitter page on Instagram page
I put up you know, a couple of videos today
where I kind of broke down what's going on. It's
a confluence of things. You know that Eagles like to
live in shotgun and a lot of times when you
run shotgun and you're trying to run the football, ninety
five percent of your place have to go across the

(28:52):
quarterback face. Well, guess what diff did They decided that
they want to slam to that side and cut the
ceil in half and make State Quon stop his feet
and then restart. It happened all day long. The center
got blown up all day long. They played a lot
of They played a lot of you know, box defense,
you know, where they had a heavy box and you're

(29:14):
just not running against that. You know, most of the time,
you know, you can leave the weak side defensive end
un blocked and then block everybody else up because you're
always in a heavy box of seven and eight man front.
You got a free hitter and those guys lived down
by the line of scrimmage. So everybody complained that oh
Sakwon didn't get enough enough touches, but in actuality, you

(29:35):
know the running game wasn't working because they've lived in
a heavy box, and when you're in a heavy box,
what you should be doing is going play action pass
and throwing the football. So from that strategic perception, you
can say, you know, the offense coordinators got to do
a better job of putting the team in position to
be able to get them out of that so that
you can run the football. And you know, their identity

(29:57):
clearly was last year to run the football and dominate
the line of scrimmage. That's what they did. This is
a new year. Teams have spent the last thirty five
weeks trying to figure out how to slow this offense
down in a slow Saquon down and then doing so.
You know the answer is we're going to load the box,
limit his runs on first down, come after Jalen on

(30:21):
second and third down, and force the issue. Well, you know,
the coaches up to the coaches to remedy that and
fix that. And you got certainly got two wide receivers.
Just go max protection, go play action pass. You know
you got both wide receivers on the outside and man
and man's situations with a single high safe.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Yeah, they got it.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
They gotta figure something out, Seth. They got it because
they're not. There's something is off right now. But again
they are four and one, Seth. We appreciate it as always, brother.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
My man, appreciate you. Thank you so much.

Speaker 5 (30:52):

tell y'all a little bit about myself and about my business.
But before I do that, I need to thank Rob
and honor Rob because life is about people on relationships
and this is his day. And he asked me, out

(34:21):
of anybody, he could have had anybody up here, but
he asked me to come through and put something down.
And so you know, I had to come through.

Most of all, I'm a fan of God. And you

the station tore coming in and I just wanted to
want to celebrate, celebrated with family and friends. I also
when these kind of moments happened, I do want to
celebrate with my coworkers and people who I work with
every day. I think it's important and for people to
celebrate these things. We take a lot of l's in life,

(36:30):
so when something good happens, you should celebrate it.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Always celebrate. Don't cheat yourself. People don't do that.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
That's real, brother, and I had to learn that more
because I'm don't make a big deal of it. No
