with basically we were just talking about okay, so I'm
not crazy. It was key K And you're like, man,

this could be that moment, right even if he just
brings home one now at six or four gas, because.

It's so exciting as one every play matter, every pitch,

was reported that the Steelers could start Russell Wilson as
their starting quarterback. What is that is that Monday against
the Jet? What day are they playing Sunday? I'm sorry,
because some more primetime Jets with Davante and all that,

and then and then and then playing Steelers.

Yes, and this does not come as a surprise to
me at all.

I've said the whole It doesn't.

That that they're looking to move on and and and
go to Russell Wilson as a starting quarterback over Justin Fields.

Justin Fields didn't play off. He did not.

They won their first three games, they lost a couple,
then they won their four and two. Under normal circumstance,
you would be like, yes, this is good, and I
said this to you, But he didn't do enough to
where he was overwhelming where there's no if like, there's
no room for improvement on the offense, there is room
for improvement. And you have a veteran quarterback who's won

a Super Bowl and been to two Super Bowls.

And here's the other thing.

And I said this to you, this is about Mike
Tomlin and what he's done there. They haven't won a
playoff game in eight years, since twenty sixteen.

And they have a defense.

They he wants, you know what I mean, wants to
give himself a chance to win something. Now, if Russell
Wilson gets out there, and what's the bed. All bets
are often but he has to at least see Russell
Wilson and see if this offense can do more if
you take the training wheels off. And that's what they
had with justin fields. That's that's why he didn't turn

the ball over. You looked at a lot of his games.
He didn't throw a lot of passes, right ten to
twelve passes. Most of it was running plays and all
that kind of stuff. And they still were able to
score and kick a lot of field goals. But they
know deep down that if you're going to win and
win big, you got to do a little bit more
than that. And so this is why it's not a surprise.
There are people out there and Steelers fans who were

like you, who thought that there's no way they're going
to replace Justin Fields. Coming off a win and being
four and too, people thought, well, had he lost, maybe
and they were three and three, maybe they did make
the change, but they won.

Well, there's a couple other circumstances why you would thought
maybe that they would stick with Justin Fields. So I
want to say two different things here. For me, one,
Kelvin Washington would be and would continue to stick with
Justin Fields. I think he is your long term answer.
I think he's only going to get better. I think
he's free from what the Bears were and actually has

a team that has a defense, has an idea. Did
he know what they are? And he can grow from there?
You're four and two, only to get better. He's what
twenty four to twenty five years old? So I like that. Also,
last time I seen Russell Wilson, wasn't that great? Wasn't
that great?

He had a pretty good unit. Wasn't that great?

I'm not I'm not saying he was bad, but I'm
saying he didn't make me go, WHOA, I have to
get in there.

Tomlin even said it.

Go look at the quote he said that Justin Fields
was good, but I'm looking for great. Yeah, but there's
a difference between good and great, and so did I
get great.

was going with this rob. So the thing I said
was Kelvin, I'm still running Justin Fields out there. But
I said, this is what I kept arguing with you,
Mike Tomlin doesn't have to marry himself to Justin Fields.
I kept saying that he didn't have to make a
decision because he has these two girlfriends that are new.

I'm dating both of y'all. I'm dating to see what
I like, what I like about her. I like her.

She doesn't like to cook. Oh, but she gives great

saying kept saying my Tomlin doesn't have to make that
decision because he has no marriage between two. It's not
Ben Roethlisberger. We got this thing. We've been going together

of years. He looked better last year than the year prior,

Tomlin again, I kept saying he's dating them because let's
say they go through a three or four game stretch

Russell Wilson goes two and two and he looks either
just like Justin Fields. I don't think he's athletic as
he can run as much at this point in his career.

But let's say he's look all right, they very well
may go back to Justin Fields like I think he's
in a I'm gonna see what I like and then
I'll start to lock it down as we get towards
potentially a postseason. I think he is flirting and Dayton
with both of these du because I owe him nothing
I got him. At the same time, both of them
are on with these small contracts, not like I got
some fifty million dollar guy in here.

But I like what they were doing with Justin Fields.

And also their offensive line has not been great, and
a lot of Pittsburgh fans we actually had some calling
and saying he's gonna give them the best option as
far as getting out of the pocket, running and making
places because Russell ain't what he used to be as
far as yeah.

You just can't run every down and and they and
and rely on field goals and that that's true. That's true,
and that and that's one of the issues and why
they had the training wheels.

think Justin Fields can slang that thing, because if you
if you let guys go out there and start to
have a different organ sets of offense, off sense of plays.

who obviously has a better arm historically. We'll see if

they're gonna keep riding this thing out until they say, ohheartedly,

don't quite see why he had to pull the trigger
so soon. I don't like Again, I get you have
Russell Wilson back there, and he looks healthy and you
can do your thing.

Was doing enough, playing well enough defense, good and really
good defense, and you're heading in the right direction to
where it to me, why I'm just rying with Justin Field.

Here the numbers, and these are the numbers that I'm
sure that they saw, and they know what the issues
quarterback QBR through six games fifty four, ranking twentieth amongst
all quarterbacks. Steelers ranked twenty eighth and passing yards and
twentieth in points.

You definitely want more out of that.

And they ranked twenty fifth in total yards on offense.
This is why the change is being made despite the success,
because they know that it's the defense and the field
goals that have been made. But those are not numbers
where you're gonna stick with the quarter.

Russell Wilson, he better come in and cook, you know
what I mean, because I think you're I think they
were building something with justin fields.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
I mean, shoot, is what six games? You know what
I mean? Like, it's only six game? Wasn't like sixteen?

Uh so, yeah, he only ten touchdowns, only two turnovers
give you about two two to thirty two forty yards
total yards defense. The way they're built, they're built to
kind of play this ball right now with the defense
and TJ.

So I just again, I'm I'm not making the change
if I'm Mike Tomlin yet those numbers, but those numbers
I just gave you because my projection is we're only
gonna get better. He's he's this is his first six
games with us. He's only gonna get better. We're only
gonna start. And I'm also looking out there too. Maybe
we go get to Mike Williams, maybe we make a
trade and get another offensive player. I just wouldn't make

the move right now. But again, it's not like he's
making the move for you know, uh, Kevin Cobb or something.
He's making a move for Russell Wilson. So I understand it.
He's approven veteran who's had a Hall of Fame like career,
if not a Hall of Fame career. So I again,
he's not going back to It's not just Joe Flacco
where it's like, okay, why why Joe Flacco, Like I know,

he's not your future. He's going to Russell Wilson, who's
a potential Hall of Famer. So I'm not mad at it.
I just wouldn't have. I'd ride this thing out until
we start to either lose more games or just I'm
giving you ten twelve weeks and it's not working all right.

Thanks for taking a call. I don't have an issue
with the Steelers move based on their philosophy and something
that Mike Tomlin said all the time. I'm gonna deal
with it until I can replace it. And Justin Field's play,
even though they have been winning, has not necessitated him
continue as the starting quarterback. So you look at Mike
tom and he says to himself, Okay, you know we're
you know, it's going good, but it's not going great.

Let me see what I have with Russell Wilson and
see if we can't tweak and improve on some of
these areas. And then as I get into the middle
and particularly the back half of the season, then I'll
make my definitive decision in terms of who our leader is.
So I don't mind it because they have two quarterbacks.
You know, if you have two quarterbacks, how many quarterbacks
do you have? You have none, You're kind of the thing,
right you can't really make the decision. Then you've already
(19:36):
kind of hamstrung yourself. So I just feel like the
Steelers are going to have this. This is going to
be the case for them all the way through, and
if they do make the playoffs, which is going to
be tough in the AFC, They're always going to be,
you know field that you're until you make a couple
of mistakes, never going to go to the other person,
and it's just going to flip flop that way for
the entirety of the season.

That's why I thought they would just stay with Justin Fields.
Like I get, he's not putting up world beater numbers.
Nobody's disagreeing with that. I just thought they're successful, they're winning,
and they're only going to hopefully get better. I thought
that's why to his point, we're gonna ride this thing

So he's all giddy about Tom and the silver.

Yeah. Tom's cash that he had to throw in the
minority owner, right right.

So but here's the so, you know, the Raiders are
like the poorest team, right, not anymore, I mean not
with the mood of vagavaluation skyrocket.

Yeah, but I thought he didn't have any oh.

I mean yeah, probably he doesn't have it like everybody
else things. Yeah, he might have value when he's like
the Lakers, but he sells it. The Lakers too, don't

As a fan of those family owned teams, where that's

the Raiders. However, he does still have a day job
at Fox, where he is the lead television analyst on
their number one play by play broadcast team. I don't
know if Fox knew this or even he knew this,
but once he officially became ratified as a part owner

of the Raiders, there were some new restrictions put in
place as to what he can and can't do as
a broadcaster.

He is no longer allowed to be in another team's facility.
He's no longer allowed to watch another team practice. He's
no longer allowed to attend a broadcast production meeting, either
in person or virtually. He is now prohibited from publicly

So basically he can't be a TV analyst, right, saying
with those restrictions as a minority owner, because that, I mean,
he's handcuffed.

Dude, this is crazy, and they're gonna have to make exceptions.
They're gonna have to literally go, oh, we didn't literally
mean it like that. They're gonna find some No, we
were just saying hypothetically or there's a carve out or
we were just saying, and there's certain circumstances.

Fox is in bed with the NFL, right, this is
the big this is where we air all the games,
and you want them to be successful. And part of
what they believe is being successful is them having Tom
Brady on the air. So like, you're not gonna he
just got started too. It's not like this is year seven.

Or eight and a ten year old, ten year, seventy
five million dollar deal.

Right, so he's not going anywhere. Fox isn't going anywhere
with the NFL. So like they're gonna find some compromise
or somebody's gonna have to do all the heavy lifting.
Like we went and got all the interviews because he
couldn't get in the facility. We went and did this
because he couldn't talk to this person. Maybe there's some
way to control his assets where like he's the owner,
but he put it in a kid's name or something like,

you know what I mean, some way around it, because
this is just too strange and you feel like an agent, manager,
a lawyer someone would tell him, Hey, Tom, by the way,
if you're trying to still pursue his ownership. You're not
gonna be able to be a broadcaster. Hey, if you're
trying to be a broadcaster, you're not gonna be able
to be a minority one.

Because it's Tom Brady. They're gonna work, they're gonna do something.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
No, no, they won't allow him to break the rules.
But Fox will just go, Okay, you can't go to practice,
you can't do.

were at the production meeting. We talked about so we
talked to this this guest and interview this place.

a chance to sit down with him and they roll
the tape and him and Jalen just doing a little

going on, man? You know you were an MVP candidate
a couple of years back. What's going like to lose
that part?

That's part of the three hundred and seventy five million
I'm getting is that players like you, Players trust you.
You have that rapport with guys and be able to
get them to talk to you in a way maybe
they wouldn't talk to someone else. I'm losing that as Fox,
and that's part of what I was paying you for
White Roue was the access that you would have, the
things that you can get that others can't. So that
kind of sucks on their behalf not being able to
get that anymore. But they're not. They'll work around it.

They're not going to be like, oh, Brady, you can't
be the number one collar.

you would be like, yes, this is good, and I
said this to you, But he didn't do enough to

no room for improvement on the offense, there is room
for improvement. And you have a veteran quarterback who's won

a Super Bowl and been to two Super Bowls.

And here's the other thing.

And I said this to you, this is about Mike
Tomlin and what he's done there. They haven't won a
playoff game in eight years, since twenty sixteen.

And they have a defense.

They he wants, you know what I mean, wants to
give himself a chance to win something. Now, if Russell
Wilson gets out there, and what's the bed. All bets
are often but he has to at least see Russell
Wilson and see if this offense can do more if
you take the training wheels off. And that's what they
had with justin fields. That's that's why he didn't turn

the ball over. You looked at a lot of his games.
He didn't throw a lot of passes, right ten to
twelve passes. Most of it was running plays and all
that kind of stuff. And they still were able to
score and kick a lot of field goals. But they
know deep down that if you're going to win and
win big, you got to do a little bit more
than that. And so this is why it's not a surprise.
There are people out there and Steelers fans who were

like you, who thought that there's no way they're going
to replace Justin Fields. Coming off a win and being
four and too, people thought, well, had he lost, maybe
and they were three and three, maybe they did make
the change, but they won.

Well, there's a couple other circumstances why you would thought
maybe that they would stick with Justin Fields. So I
want to say two different things here. For me, one,
Kelvin Washington would be and would continue to stick with
Justin Fields. I think he is your long term answer.
I think he's only going to get better. I think
he's free from what the Bears were and actually has

a team that has a defense, has an idea. Did
he know what they are? And he can grow from there?
You're four and two, only to get better. He's what
twenty four to twenty five years old? So I like that. Also,
last time I seen Russell Wilson, wasn't that great? Wasn't
that great?

And they ranked twenty fifth in total yards on offense.
This is why the change is being made despite the success,
because they know that it's the defense and the field
goals that have been made. But those are not numbers

He's approven veteran who's had a Hall of Fame like career,

where it's like, okay, why why Joe Flacco, Like I know,

a potential Hall of Famer. So I'm not mad at it.
I just wouldn't have. I'd ride this thing out until

with the Steelers move based on their philosophy and something
that Mike Tomlin said all the time. I'm gonna deal
with it until I can replace it. And Justin Field's play,
even though they have been winning, has not necessitated him
continue as the starting quarterback. So you look at Mike
tom and he says to himself, Okay, you know we're
you know, it's going good, but it's not going great.

Let me see what I have with Russell Wilson and
see if we can't tweak and improve on some of
these areas. And then as I get into the middle
and particularly the back half of the season, then I'll
make my definitive decision in terms of who our leader is.
So I don't mind it because they have two quarterbacks.
You know, if you have two quarterbacks, how many quarterbacks
do you have? You have none, You're kind of the thing,
right you can't really make the decision. Then you've already
(19:36):
kind of hamstrung yourself. So I just feel like the
Steelers are going to have this. This is going to
be the case for them all the way through, and
if they do make the playoffs, which is going to
be tough in the AFC, They're always going to be,
you know field that you're until you make a couple
of mistakes, never going to go to the other person,
and it's just going to flip flop that way for
the entirety of the season.

way to control his assets where like he's the owner,
but he put it in a kid's name or something like,

this is just too strange and you feel like an agent, manager,
a lawyer someone would tell him, Hey, Tom, by the way,
if you're trying to still pursue his ownership. You're not
gonna be able to be a broadcaster. Hey, if you're

to be a minority one.

a chance to sit down with him and they roll
the tape and him and Jalen just doing a little

walk and talk kind of thing, and he's like, what's
going on, man? You know you were an MVP candidate
a couple of years back. What's going like to lose
that part?

That's part of the three hundred and seventy five million
I'm getting is that players like you, Players trust you.
You have that rapport with guys and be able to
get them to talk to you in a way maybe
they wouldn't talk to someone else. I'm losing that as Fox,
and that's part of what I was paying you for
White Roue was the access that you would have, the
things that you can get that others can't. So that
kind of sucks on their behalf not being able to
get that anymore. But they're not. They'll work around it.

They're not going to be like, oh, Brady, you can't
be the number one collar.

been getting into it with your boy Baker. He's been
much more funny in commercials. He's been funny on social media.
He's been insightful on social media. He's had some great
points on social media. He's called out the NFL for
the way they rep the way the game is.

I just was up under the Bill Belichick regime and
I couldn't do or say things version of Tom Brady.

I like that. So you just basically give him a

Well, he played quarterback, who's a good quarterback? There's definitely
scratch your head. Let me see because he's a little overrated.
But he's okay. I mean, he a little lucky budd
He is fine. Maybe I'll say it's hard to build
a team, and it ain't as easy as people think,
you know.

Like that's fair, it really is.

You think he's to go to the Belichick model, you know,
and just you know, not quick runners. But we're not
going to pay a lot of guys a lot of money,
use guys up and get a bunch of.

Which I always was against.

And I thought that people going to the Patriots are.

Ridiculous because they kept doing the same thing to people.

Use them up during their good years, not get cash
them out, give them their deals.

That person and I'm with you, but that person walks
around with a ring right now.

But long term, I know that sounds good and I
might have done it for one ring.

This team wants to give you. Two years twenty five,
Tyreek went to the Diami. Yeah, I won a super
Bowl for a while. We are you trying to go
back no before wide receiver though, because he don't have
a quarterback before. It ain't have to go win no ring.

My point is that, Nope, you don't get judged that
way as as any other player. So that doesn't matter

the time, or the Jets or the Lions historically up
into the last few seasons. I want to go and
win because the Lions, as you know, that was a
place where players want to die. Like when you got
trains to the Lions for like a fifteen twenty year period.

It was like in the career, my career is over,
this is it?
Speaker 5 (31:29):
So anyway, Yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be tough
for time to you know, be able to do it.
But they'll they'll feed them, spoon feed them all the answers.
But we are we're gonna lose some cool access that
we might have got some players, some cool interviews that
they and some cool nuggets that we might have only
gotten because of time because they like they're cool with them.
