(01:11):
and Altitude Sports Radio in Denver, where I've done the
radio show from when I've been out there. He joined
us in about twenty eight minutes. I didn't want to
say a couple of quick.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Hellos.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I got stopped in the streets of Queens. They got
listening on the show. I don't have people there, and
I like, man, make sure I listen all the time.
Just make sure you have you know, we listening to
Queens and whatnot. And then another guy worked for CBS
and I ran into him at the Buffalo Wild Wings
and he was just like he knew the show and
(01:41):
all the stuff and was really into it. And then
probably the best thing that I was able to do
was on Sunday and I went to one of our listeners.
He owns a bookstore nice and it wasn't that far
from where I was staying. And his name is Terrence
and his bookstar is called The Printed Word down there
(02:03):
and Portmouth, Uh, you know in in v v A
and v A and uh. I went in there, really
nice place. Bought a couple of books from my great
nephews and whatnot, and he's a big fan of the show.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Nice. So Terrence, thank you for the hospitality I went
in there.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
I always want to you know what I mean, especially
especially you know, a small black business going there and
try to do some patron it.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
So yeah, shout out to him.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Man Printed word out there in v A appreciate it
the big time.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
And one other thing I want to say, go ahead
add to your point.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Just is great when like we were in New orleanscause
we get locked in here. Sometimes we're here and you
get to get out and people and people, oh man,
love you guys talk about that you can do this,
and that's always great.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
That was great. Like I say, like, you know, New
York's a big town.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
You know, you got their own radio stage and all
that other stuff, and you're not sure people listen to
you nationally, and they were really everywhere I went with
stop people were stopping me.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
But but I wanted to say hello to those two guys.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
But the last thing I want to do this is
real quick is starting on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
I think it's.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Thursday until I go ahead to vacation thirty days, I'm
gonna give up meat and just try to eat. I know,
look at his eyes just blew up. You think I
could do it?
Speaker 1 (03:18):
You, well, I'll tell you why I think you can
do it. One thing I'll give you credit for when
I've told you this. If you like lock in, you're
gonna do it. But that shocking that you want to
do that I think I.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Want to do.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
I think I want to take it to the next
level as far as I know. And then, uh, just
a lot of salads, so some eggs, and I'm just
like flirting with fish. Do I eat tunea fish a
little fish? Do I eat shrimp on my salads? That
instead of just having just a little bit, go more pescatarian,
you know what I mean? Fish, Rob, Do.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
You think I could do it? What do you think
I think you can? I don't know why you would
do it. I want to drop and you can also
let sign no, I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna do
that as well. So I'm gonna I'm gonna get off
of all the meat, like you know, like today, like
you know normally when I'm here, I.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Eat three times. You didn't see me eat three times today.
So I'm already trying to get to that point where
I'm getting off of that. And then if I have
for dinner spinach, okay ready, green beans and a salad,
That'll be my dinner.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Those three things, you're gonna have to get a protein
in there somehow, get some beans.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
That seems like an unnecessary shock to your system because
you're not working out right now. So to say I'm
gonna start working out and I'm also cutting out meat
at the same time.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
You think my body might just trip, You'll be you'll
be bad on the air if you cut off that
isn't that doesn't that mean?
Speaker 7 (04:42):
Now?
Speaker 8 (04:42):
No, but like, yeah, what if you cut out the
lunch meat, that probably.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Probably I'm gonna cut out red meat and I'm only gonna, yeah,
or just.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Eat leaner things all right, maybe because I already know
like if I do it, my head will probably be hurting.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Be as easy. Yeah, that's why you beat me to it.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
You're gonna have to be so prepared, dude, because dude,
you burned through some spinach green beans. Your stomach's okay
to me, right, Yeah, So you're gonna have to and
I know it's not like I'm doing that and I'm
eating bread like so you're yeah, dude, you gonna have
to have You're gonna have to be prepared for.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Six years maybe seven years now. And it's like hard.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
But see even some of the stuff you'll eat, he's
not eating me Like he won't eat like an m
pinata with veggies because he's not eating ooah and bread
and so he's making it even triple worse. What I say,
no bread, and then because like, yeah, if you had,
if you had some bread and mashed potatoes and green beans, okay, great,
or some veget vegetable medley. He's not even doing bread
or mashed potatoes and rice and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
So I don't know what. But I don't know what.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
You because I'm like, I want to do that workout,
like drop about twenty pounds.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Are you still like eating rice? No, I'm eating rice,
So I'm selling. He doesn't eat rice and eat mass potatoes.
He's not eating bread. He's not eating a lasta, hope pasta.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
None of that, okay.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
So like and then vacation. When vacation starts, you know
what I mean. And I'll get back because I'm gonna
be on the road.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I'm gonna be the Detroit really changed your life a
couple of days ago. Look at him, blessing boy. I
tell you that dinner in.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Detroit here somebody, oh God, see that man came back
and lost his mind. Is she vegan vegetarian? She must
have said something at the restaurant.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
First, First he saw a rat eating like a steak
in New York and then he went to Detroit and
he's like, I gotta change.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
My Yeah, he pulled out the coupon. Now we get
two for one steaks. And she's like, don't worry about
the baby. I don't eat meat, all right, Well, then
we don't eat meat.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
That's even better than because then I don't have to money.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
You ain't a matter of fact, boy, let me go
back in time, make my wife be a vegetarian.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
So much money you would have saved every time we
go somewhere. Lamb chats.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Hold on, girl, Dang, it's Mary Mexicott. To relax, all right,
I want to get in this. Rob g reports out
there about the Steelers and how all things pointing to
Aaron Rodgers signing right.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yes, sir.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
Last week we talked about on the show briefly, a
Steelers insider told the ninety three point seven the Fan
in Pittsburgh that the club is willing to wait up
to six weeks for Aaron Rodgers to officially commit to
the team, that they basically have all their eggs in
the Aaron Rodgers basket. Well over the weekend, Ian O'Connor,
longtime writer author.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I work with him.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
We both worked, we both were columnus at ESPN New
York dot com, and he.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
Literally wrote the book on Aaron Rodgers wrote his biography.
Also on ninety three seven, the fan in Pittsburgh said
that while it's not guaranteed, he believes that there is
a wink wink, nudge nudge handshake deal between.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Rodgers and Steelers.
Speaker 6 (07:43):
And the only reason, according to O'Connor, why Rodgers has
not yet signed sealed delivered in Pittsburgh is that he
believes that Rogers is waiting until after OTAs on May
twenty seventh because they are quote mandatory.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Here, that's what he said.
Speaker 6 (08:01):
I think the word mandatory after we went through last
year when he missed two practices to go to see
the pyramids in Egypt. He took so much grief for that.
I think he'll honor that. And my suspicion is that
Mike Tomlin has given him a verbal sign off on
that already that he can come in after OTAs.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
This is one of those I'm gonnaeting ready to give
it over to you because I don't have much to
say other than because I've exhausted my Steelers Aaron Rodgers conversation.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Except for this, you certainly have, though guhead I have.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Because I'm blown away that an organization like the Pittsburgh Steelers,
who have been one of the blue bloods, a historically
well run organization, would be this desperate for one in
particular person who is forty one years old, best days
behind him, and that would be anybody best days behind
(08:56):
him who seems noncommittal when you have a young coach,
meaning it's not like it's his last hurrah, he's seventy three,
and they're trying to win right now, and you're trying
to sustain and have a great system for years to come.
And I'm so confused at what they're doing because Aaron Rodgers, again,
all signs point maybe, but he's not in and he
(09:18):
might not come to OTA's and he might not come
to meetings, and there's still a small chance he might
not sign with you. And they're acting like they're not
the Pittsburgh Steelers and more like they're the Jags or
the Panthers or the Raiders making a desperate move. And
I'm not even knocking him. He played pretty well. You know,
he wasn't great, but he played pretty well last year.
But if you're going based off pretty well. Russell Wilson
(09:40):
prayed pretty well, and he's like four or five years younger.
So if you're gonna go it pretty well and you
want to ride it out, might not roll with Russell Wilson.
And I genuinely don't get what they're doing. And then okay,
you get him and he puts up a solid year.
You don't have a running game right now. Your defense
(10:01):
has to get tighter. And what I don't even think
they're gonna I think it's gonna be the first year
if this happens, that Mike Tomlin does not go above
five hundred. If this happens, this will be the first
year he's below five hundred. I do not see this
working out, and I don't understand it because it's so
limited thinking for an organization typically has been well run,
(10:26):
and I genuinely don't get it.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Not even this is not even a I hate Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
It's not gonna sounds like it's about Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
I don't get what they're doing. But you're living in
the past. You're living in the old Pittsburgh. Okay, let me,
can I give you some facts?
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I would?
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Okay, so they haven't won a playoff game since twenty seventeen. Okay,
so this you don't understand what they're doing. Who when
has Aaron Rodgers woman, no, no, no, no, listen to what
I'm talking about. You're talking about but you're saying no, no, no,
no no, but you're talking about Pittsburgh. Okay, right up,
So I'm giving you the numbers ever going to. Okay,
so you haven't won a super Bowl since two thousand
(11:02):
and nine. You think that being not having a losing
record or something special. Mike Tomlin knows that he needs
to win. Okay, And it does make everything that Ian
O'Connell said made total sense from the standpoint of rather
than come in knowing that you're not prepared to do
(11:24):
the things that you need to do and not have
people go, oh see he's not doing this, it makes
total sense because that's not going to be the reason
or the difference because when he first came to the Jets,
the first year he did all that he came in.
He didn't miss anything year one and he got hurt
in four snaps. But my point is, now that makes
(11:46):
sense on why they haven't gone to get another quarterback,
why they haven't panicked why they didn't draft Shador Sanders
when they had a chance, like, oh my god, we
don't have anybody. They believe what Ian O'Connell said makes
total sense to me. Now when you pull a curtain
back and Pittsburgh needs to win a playoff game.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
And you can say whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Aaron Rodgers in the same old Aaron Rodgers. But I no, no,
But he had the same stats as Patrick Mahomes who
went to the super Bowl last year.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
He did. You could go look him up. They had
the same stats.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
In fact, Aaron Rodgers had less interceptions than Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
So they feel like.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
No, but they're looking and saying if we can have
a better like defense and some other stuff around him,
that maybe we might have a chance. And that's all
I'm saying. I'm not saying they're going to the super Bowl.
They're gonna win, but they haven't won anything in a
long time. You're making it like this is the Chuck
Noles Steelers or something.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
That's why I'm saying, I don't want to get a
guy who hasn't won anything in a long time.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
They haven't won anything. He's still back, but he's still
better than anybody that they've had. Look at the cock
the last ten years, but they've had no way. Even
Ben Burger's last two or three years were all three.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
So that's my point.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
What dude, literally just it's Ben Roethlisberger's last few years
weren't great. Aaron Rodgers last few years haven't been great.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
It was hurting about the numbers last year he was
hurt same to get rid of him.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Same last year he put up numbers. They were fool gayzy.
They weren't winning games. He was the point of the
quarterback position to win me games.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
So when the someone the kicker against them, we missed
the field goals And why don't you go four and
the four games where the other team average eighteen when
the other team watched the ball down and scored a
touchdown on the last drove.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Those are Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Games you had, come on, you had Adams, you had
Wilson watch the games. Literally, did go win a game?
How many games? How many you don't watch Aaron Rodgers?
How many did not win? How many games did they
lose on the last possession? Where where the Patriot to
march down and won the game. Indianapolis Colts, I'm telling you.
(14:03):
I watched the game because Aaron Rodgers doesn't up. I
thought they had a great defense.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
That's all they talked about was that they they had
a great defense, they had the lead.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
What are you talking about? He didn't put them up. No,
they had and he has. He didn't even do that
when he was a Packer they had.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
He does not win if he were down in the
fourth quarter, even with the Packers, he doesn't win.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
That is not true.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Do you want to go One of the greatest games
was in San Francisco Rock on a Monday night against
team Do you remember that on Monday night with thirty
four seconds to go?
Speaker 2 (14:35):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 8 (14:36):
Why? Why? Why are you talking about? Why do I
want someone who's not going to get healthier?
Speaker 1 (14:40):
And you ain't get I know when you're getting older,
you're not getting healthier playing a sport.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
So nobody.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
So you mean to tell me that the Denver Broncos
who won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manny, shouldn't have
picked him up. And you're saying that they manning that
last year? Did they win a super Bowl? Did they
want Okay, did you see State Manning? Did they win
a Super Bowl? As won a masking, don't switch. No, no,
my point is because he was about winning. No, no, no,
it's about winning. It's about winning. They had a great defense,
(15:07):
no not right now, no, but dad, but I'm trying
to add a great defense, and they went out and
got a veteran quarter pay man.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
He was so bad and you know that he literally
was a shell that night. Might be a compliment.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Did they win a super Bowl?
Speaker 8 (15:20):
Yes, okay, and Aaron Rodgers I'm not even won a
super Bowl two with compare to them to Please don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
My point is radio winner.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Yeah, but he also has a top five defense every
time he wins, stopping the first three super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I want you to defense and I want you to
be my defense lawyer. Man, you please, I'm calling you
Robert Cochran from here on out. Johnny Cochran's Robert Cochran
because this man gets more passes for not good passes
and not winning. And the Steelers, who I really try
to make it about less about Aaron Rodgers, that they
(15:57):
would be banking on a forty one soon to be
forty two old.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
I just don't I just don't get that.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine, six, sixty three, sixty nine, or the stealers
making a mistake by waiting on Aaron Rodgers. It's that simple.
I say no. Kelvin's been saying yes for because he
thinks that he's not going to go there and has
been saying it for Oh, I'm saying why am I one?
We'll continue that conversation next with you. It is the
odd couple right here on Fox Sports Radio. You know
(16:25):
what you need to do, stick and stay.
Speaker 9 (16:28):
Unless you want Robert Cochrane to represent you in the USFA.

all right?
Speaker 7 (18:42):
What Kevin?
Speaker 2 (18:43):
What up? Chili?
Speaker 10 (18:46):
I think the Steelers have been they wait too late
when Bill Belichick would kind of like get rid of
guys a little bit too early. But I think it's
started with Ben me and Roethlisberg, and I think they
shit themselves back, uh when they did not He kind
of held them hostage about what he wasn't going to do,
what they're going to do, and they wanted to protect
(19:08):
them like the loyalty of the Stealers. And I love
Mike Tom and he's a fat brother of mine.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Good guy, except when it came to uh.
Speaker 10 (19:17):
Antonio Brown, he did the same thing. They held on
too long, they kind of let it get too bad.
And Mike Thompson has this reputation of the disciplinarian, but
I'm starting to see why why did these guys always
act up under him? And I just think that the
Steelers have a habit of tolerating and kind of going
a little bit too long with things, where like with
(19:38):
Big Ben uh and they just they just wait too
late and they could have had a quarterback, and they
don't really look to develop the young guys. Maybe it's
because the Pickens and some others they've been burned by
Mason Rudolph and stuff. But if you're not evaluating the talent,
if somebody's not getting it, then you know, maybe it's
time to read, you know, to retool and get someone
in that has a better football.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Mind and can less should be fired.
Speaker 10 (20:02):
I think it's time that maybe they should part.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Yes, I mean, I mean he doesn't want to play
twenty seventeen. Being finishing over five hundred is no big
deal like that. That's like some like they keep using
that as some badge of honor.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Yeah, you could tell me that three seasons when they
were under five hundred and then they won.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
A super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
I'll take that. Yeah, you take that to We'll take
that over. Uh, finishing nine and eight that was cute
when it was more like an anomaly.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
Y'all know what I would give for the Raiders to
finish five hundred three straight seasons, much less twenty or
whatever it is in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Nobody. Nobody's saying.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
But at some point you gotta win, Rob, g they
have won. That was two thousand and nine.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
One.
Speaker 6 (20:45):
If your Lions won, Rob, one of your Jets won.
You bring up e like Maddie like he's got to
give the football. When did he win?
Speaker 2 (20:53):
What he told me one twice? Yeah, when I don't
know he's retired now exactly. No, But they won that Leelers.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
I think the Lions and the Lions have never won
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
First of all, why the Lions catch the strange right now?
Speaker 8 (21:04):
Okay, we're on the Steelers, the Lions, and the official
team of the who.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
When the Lions don't make the playoffs this year, when
they win, it's good, and when they lose, it's good.
I can't wait to get mine. What do we win?
I should have put Jordans on it, man, we have
wings out of this. That's what you bad. You would
know you were afraid you said it. You said you
could have said something. You could have said Jordans. Yeah,
I didn't know who.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
They will if they make the playoffs, we'll we'll do
it on this whether they get to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Are you gonna wait to the whole injured? The whole
defensive team is injured. The Lions said it, guarantee you
they won't beat them.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
How big will that be that they don't make the
playoffs this year?
Speaker 2 (21:41):
I think that would be unbelieva. What's great about a
take like that is if you're right, it's like headline,
boom boom.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
If you're wrong, no one's gonna know because everybody expects
them to take it.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Yeah. I can't stand you sometimes.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
All right, we got Vick Lombardy getting ready to join
us and the right time. Hey, Steve, what's trending?
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Be sure they can live? Editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
All right, Steve, thank you man, And what you said
is not true. I love women's sports and women.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
And RBI with an S. The AP style now it's incorrect.
It is the Associated Press style, Steve. It is in
the standard. Steve. You you are a smart guy. It
is incorrect.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
It's runs the Associated Press, which Dad's all writing in sports.
Can I can I do this? The bb W A
A is incorrect. Baseball back then was two words. That's
why it's bb Baseball is one word. It should be
b W A A. Am I correct on that?
Speaker 9 (22:51):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (22:51):
All right?
Speaker 4 (22:52):
So RBI's was like that and they never wanted to
fix it.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
It is incorrect.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
It's rb I whether it's one RBI or nine RBI,
it's the same.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Word, like says Rob Parker.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Only yes, okay, but yeah, you were very emotional that
I told you, yelling at co workers.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
You're looking at everybody in the room.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Know what happened is like you thought, like you said, Steve,
a vacation would woo sot calm him down that flight.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Back from Detroit. I guess I don't know. It would
be Detroit. All right.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
We have Vic Lombardi. Maybe he'll calm you down a
little bit. Host of Altitude TV and out to two
Sports Radio and Denver Beware Vic uh Rob is on
one today. Or you can say, what's new, what's up?
Speaker 9 (23:38):
Vic?
Speaker 7 (23:39):
It is RB I it is.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
It's RBI, whether it's one or nine. The runs is
what's plural?
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Not the ends? Am I right? Victor?
Speaker 7 (23:49):
Yes, it's just like it's it's holes in one, not
a hole in one. It's holes in one. You could
change plurals everywhere. So it's I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Good job, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
I appreciate that. There you go. We're off to a
great start with Vic. All right.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Now let's go wa Hop and Lucy. With the Denver Nuggets,
I mean the wheels fell off.
Speaker 7 (24:11):
Yeah, you know, you can look at this two ways.
You could say, the Denver Nuggets lost in a Game
seven for the second straight year and they underperformed. Or
you could say, wow, the Denver Nuggets persevered with a
very shallow bench yep, and they went to two game
sevens when nobody really thought they would. So I think
(24:32):
it's a little bit of in between. They clearly did
not have the depth to play with the Oklahoma City
and yet they took them the seven and when it's
all said and done, who knows OKC can win it all?
And that may have been their toughest series of the
playoff runt. We shall find out. I know this, the
Nuggets need depth. They know they need depth. How they
(24:53):
get it remains to be seen.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
How about the Mike Malone thing.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
I mean, that is gutsy to fire a coach right before,
but I think that ang but it looks like they
felt like the players were no longer given effort defensively
stop me if I'm wrong, Vic or you know, like
where they felt like they had to make a change,
and they got just as far as they did a
year ago with Mike Malone. So it wasn't like they
(25:16):
fell off a cliff when they got swept in the playoffs, right,
I mean, it looked like they were not bothered by
not having Mike Malone.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Am I wrong?
Speaker 7 (25:25):
I think they just needed to hear a different voice.
You know, at some point a voice becomes stale in
the room, and it was pretty clear that a different
voice was necessary, whether that voice was an assistant coach
or somebody else. Voice came in and you know what,
the team they performed they won the last three games
of the regular season to get that home court advantage
(25:46):
in the first round to get the four seeds. So
whatever you could say about the move, it was very
surprising to a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Oh yeah, but it worked.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
It worked for them. I mean, it wouldn't NBA championship,
but it got a little more light out of this
team because it looked like this team was headed nowhere
at that point.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Well, let me ask you this. You're talking about the depth,
how do they get it? The core of the team,
let's say the four Michael Porter, Junior, Jamal obviously Jokic
and Aaron Gordon. Is it time to break that up?
Is it time to move on? And if you were
to do so, what piece or pieces are likely to go?
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Well, I'll start with is it time to break that up?
I think it's impossible to establish more depth on this
team without taking a bite out of the top heavy
part of the roster. It's a very top heavy roster.
We know this. It was constructed in the old CBA
and the new CBA just doesn't like when you're paying
(26:41):
that much to a fewer players. So you can't provide
depth on the bench unless you rid yourself of some
of these top heavy contracts, and I don't know where
they turned to. I think the one contract that seems
to be most lenient is Michael Porter Juniors only because
he's looked at thirty eight and forty for the next
(27:02):
two years.
Speaker 10 (27:03):
In two years, that.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
Might be the one that they move. But you know,
to move a contract sometimes you have to add a
little butter to that contract. The teams to bite, so
we'll see what they do. They're in a bind here.
It's a tough spot.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yeah, I mean, I'm looking at him as you're looking
at you know. However, maybe four or five more years
of peak jo kids, give or take, and you don't
want to waste that where you look up and let
me ask you that certain cities, Robin and I have
talked about that. Maybe if you're the Bucks, you say, hey,
we got one championship with Giannis. We hadn't had one
since lu Al Sender. So are the Nuggets in a
(27:39):
situation where they're like, quietly, hey we got one, we
did well. Are they feeling like with Jokic we should
walk run off two or three?
Speaker 7 (27:47):
Well, you always want to compete for one when you
have the best player on the planet. And you know,
a lot of people suspect he got what you just
said it what four or five years. Nakota jokicch plays
a different brand of basketball. He doesn't really he doesn't
play above the rim. As long as he can move
up and down the court, he's going to have a
window of opportunity. So who knows how long that window lasts.
(28:08):
He has a possibility to sign an extension of this
summer right after the NBA Finals, and that would put
him in Denver through twenty thirty. And I really believe
as long as Nikola Jokic is on the court and
he's not relying on athleticism, he's relying on a lot
of other stuff, and it keeps his prime longer than most.
(28:30):
I think he'll be in his prime for maybe seven
more years.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
And here's the other thing, too, is for real, let's
just be real. If he wins another one, he's good.
Like you knowing, am I right?
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Vic?
Speaker 4 (28:42):
Like, if they can win like two championships during this run,
you would gladly take that. It's hard to win. You're
looking at the Knicks now, Devin. Once since Moby Dick
was a guppy nineteen seventy three. I mean, you know,
that's why the people in New York could go in quay,
just the idea, you know what I mean that they
can win.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
And I can name another ten teams that have n't won,
you know, or.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
It's been a really long time, so it's easy to
think that you're gonna win all the time. Even Boston
people thought, oh yeah, well they're gonna run it back.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Really it doesn't work like that.
Speaker 7 (29:18):
We're about the crown a seventh, seventh different NBA champion,
seventh consecutive championship. That you're not gonna have back to
back champs. It's just too hard these days. The Denver
Nuggets have been among the top of the leader board
for the last five six years. And I guarantee you
this man. They look at this run man. Four or
five years ago, when Jamal Murray was hurt, he missed
(29:40):
two seasons. They had this core in tax for those
two seasons. They could have made championship runs back then.
They just weren't healthy. Then last year Jamal Injureds's cast.
They lose in the second round. This year they got
injuries again. So you could argue and say, man, if
they were healthy maybe they have more than one championship.
I think the Denver Nuggets still have life. They've got
(30:01):
to find a way. Though. Whoever they hire is a
GM better be very creative because I don't know how
you squeeze more depth out of this roster. But that's
the goal.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
And you just brought up the you know, seven different
champions right, we'll crown this year. Baseball last back to
back the Yankees ninety nine, two thousand. You're talking about, Wow,
twenty five years. Ready one more because everybody was talking
about the Dodgers running it back. The last National League
(30:31):
team to win back to back World Series the nineteen
seventy five seventy six Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 7 (30:38):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (30:39):
No, that's how That's how long it's been. And then
that's what we talk about all the time. It's hard
to win.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
It is only the only thing I would I would
throw in there at the caveat here. Vic for me
is not that that he's been anything but great. The
only thing I was saying I'm talking to Rob about
is historically the NBA is different than Baseball. Right, you
need everything you need exillion, You need your hitters to
hit at the right time football need eleven guys on offen,
eleven on defense. In the NBA, the best player for
(31:06):
the last forty to fifty sixty years, when there we
all kind of go, okay, that's the best player. They
usually have a run where the conference finals and and
getting the finals is kind of par for the course.
Steph Curry, Lebron, Kobe, Jack Jordan.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
But it's just here, I'm gonna say.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
I was gonna say, Vic, I want to hear you,
but it's totally unfair. You're asking the Joker without another
All Star in his team.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Everybody you mentioned.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
Has three guys, and I just he doesn't have that,
And I think that that's I think it's unfair to him.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Good, Vic, I really do you know?
Speaker 7 (31:38):
I was going to reference that. I mean, you look
at the Celtics of the eighties, the Lakers of the eighties,
man all the Hall of famers on those teams. You
had money to spend to surround great players with other
great players. This is the only great player of his
era to win an NBA championship without playing for the
fellow All Star.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Right, It's never happened.
Speaker 7 (31:59):
It's a player, not one nobody. So I mean it's
a tough deal, and I just I think it's it's
it's an ask team for too much, to put it
all in the shoulders of your best player when the
current CBA does not allow you to spend like those
other eras, and those other eras, it didn't match. They
didn't have aprons. They didn't it first and second April
(32:19):
only aprons. They hadn't in the kitchen that aprons didn't exist.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
No doubt. All right, I appreciate you man, Thank you
for that. Yeah, appreciate you, Vic.
Speaker 7 (32:28):
All right, boys, take care of man, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
All right. On the way.
Speaker 1 (32:30):

at somebody going Rob Parker right? Then you can know,
Oh that wasn't Rob Parker.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Are you kidding? Don? That was that doing that?
Speaker 11 (34:49):
Great guy? Man, I'll never I'll never suffer anyone else
saying anything.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
And I was his bag too, no doubt. That's nice.
Speaker 11 (35:00):
If I want to say one last thing, those of

years strong on what's seven mile road?
Speaker 2 (35:13):
In outer drive twenty.
Speaker 8 (35:18):
I think, Don, he's not he with somebody. I ran
into the airport and then he called in and then
he gave you and then he shot you.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Know what kind of car you drove?
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Then he said he'll swing on anybody who says anything
negative you. I don't know, Rob, When you sound like
a good twenty dollars handshake when.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
You meet somebody, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
And you're like, this guy's cool, like he's approachable, he's
a nice guy.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
You know me, I'm a you know, just lucky kind
of guy, shaking hands, kissing babies. You know that all
the time. I'm always running for office, all right, you
know that, Rob g No, and you can win too.
In today's climate.
Speaker 6 (35:59):
Some of the wild stuff you have to be might
even stick with you.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
You have to be vice president. To your good friend
steven A. He out here talking about making runs, Okay,
I have to think that. I'm gonna have to do it.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I will not be running, trust me, I'll be retired.
Put the camera on. Put the camera on me. I
have to do it.
Speaker 9 (36:18):
If the people say they want your boy, then the
people gonna get your boy.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
I don't care if it's.
Speaker 6 (36:24):

Steve said this to him.
Speaker 9 (36:43):

I love the people. I am the people.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Do you know do you know how dirty politics are?
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Like?
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Want know?
Speaker 1 (36:58):
That's the part the people like seriously Like in the beginning,
you're cool and oh he's making some noise, alrighty, go
find something something up something.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Oh yeah, and then put you on the spot where
they have have you answer questions that you don't know
about and.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
All this kind of stuff. It's dirty. It start off.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
Okay, so now it is very dirty, and that's why
a lot of people don't stay away from it, who
are really smart and really want to change the world.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
I think, I mean not to be like I think
Magic Johnson. I'm away, like, why would you run easily.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Win mayor of l A. He's like, I don't know that.
