show meeting and then I walk in the newsroom.

did it. I'm like, oh, shoot, what what did President
Trump do?

What a Governor Gavin news some dude and they're like, no,
Travis just proposed, and I'm like and then the whole
thing turned into a bet. Carrie turned it over under
two years, you know Follway last and I said, you
know what, I believe in their love, Carrie. I think
this is the long haul. I think they're gonna make you.
But with that being said, Shay, give us the breakdown

how we even got here with Travis and Taylor.

Before I tell you guys about the engagement, I got
to tell you guys how it started. The most important
thing in sports in the last three years. I mean, hey,
we're talking about it and NFL starts in a week,
so I think this matters.

Let's go back to September fourteenth, twenty twenty three. What
do you think happened? Then, well, I'll tell you what happened.

Oh man.

His brother Jason Kelsey was asked about the relationship between
Travis Kelsey and pop star Taylor Swift, where Tony Gonzalez asked,
is this a real thing? Jason Kelsey goes, some things
don't have to be said, and that's the first time
speculations were happening. And then September twenty fourth, twenty twenty three.

Maybe a week or so later, on Sunday in a
stadium we watched it begin Swift was spotted on the
bleachers in a sweet sitting beside Kelsey's mom, Donna. That's
the first time we had that coverage and oh, everyone
was so happy to see her in Say.

It was turned up from then on.

And then we move on to November eleventh, twenty twenty three,
So a couple of months, Taylor Swift changes the lyrics
to Karma too. I don't know if you guys remember this.
To Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight
home to me. This was a pretty big deal within
social media.

Say, I'm going to have you fast forward this dig
up in the last couple of events.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
And then in August eleventh, twenty twenty five, we have
the New Heights podcast, and not even two weeks later, endgame,
they are finally engaged in putting a post out saying
your favorite gym teacher and uh English teacher are getting married.

Yeah that.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
So there we are. So I'm gonna start with you. Ye.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
One thing I laugh at is that Travis Kelsey saying, man,
you know I was doing too much last year. I
might have been a little distracted, I admitted, I'm locked
in on focused exactly well, about to propose or proposing,
and about to get married and have to plan. Maybe
the biggest wedding of the earth is gonna also be
distracted by man. I've been married, I am married, I
went through the proposal, and I am one one hundredth

the you know, fame of him in one one millionth
of the failing of her, And I can only imagine.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
What it might take for him to purpual with all
of that. So who knows.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Maybe he's just gonna be his last ride this year,
retire to this year, and then they focus on the wedding.
But trying to say, I'm you know, I've been distracted, Carrie,
this is this is adding to that.

Is feel this is adding field to the fire one
hundred percent. But let me just say this, man, Okay,
we'll say it. I love love. If it's real, it's pure,
and they're happy, kudos to them. But I just don't
feel that that's it. You don't think so, No, you
just talked about it. Travis Kelce was in GQ saying

I'm not gonna come with any distractions this year, I'm
coming to play. I didn't play well last year. I'm
gonna turn a new leaf. I'm gonna cut down on
the distractions. And then you announce the same day on
NFL Cut Day that you're engaged to the biggest pop
star in the world. That's gonna bring a lot more
attention to you, and you're gonna be more than anything

talking about this relationship, but not about what you're doing
on the field. So this is just a little another
cover up type situation, another whip in his radar in
my opinion. And again, you know this and I know this.
They've probably been engaged for a couple of weeks already,
so for them to drop it today's strategic. Everything about

what they do and what they represent just feels it
feels forced, and it feels like it's feels like there's
a lot of strategy behind everything there that I.

Thought I would see.

do this right now, right when the season is about

fire again, and you dropped it.

Baby, maybe this is the fuel to the fire so
he can he can win a super Bowl. The n

Yeah, maybe no. I listen, I brought it up for

I do find that hilarious that he's like, I'm about
to lock in and I'm not quite listen. I know,
I'm sure he's in the gym. I'm sure he's working
out one hundred gym. But I'm sure he's in the
field working out, he's training. I'm not questioning that. But
it is interests hilarious that we hear that. In the
next thing, I know you're proposing and you know, making
this public display to the biggest pop star in the world.
So that is a contrast right there, or at least,
you know, a little hypocrisy in that regard. But so

let me ask you this before. I do have a
list of some other great athletes with entertainers. We'll get
to that in a minute. How does this work in
the locker room? Do they really not care? Like seriously,
like they just like the Obviously there's been two and
a half years of it now whatever it's been, so
we're used to it. But on the other end, is

it a distraction locker room? Are we the public making
a bigger thing of it? They don't really care.

You I got my girl, you got your girl, you
got it was.

One thing I do like about Taylor is she as
famous as she is, she tries to be as normal
as possible. Again heavy on that as possible, meaning she
can't just be the Taylor who works at you know,
all State. But you know, she tried, like I just
show up to the game. She's into it like a fan.
She's not like acting like some weird secluded we always.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Happened to fore.

I'm in them sweets with everybody else. Mama and girlfriends
having the time of my life supporting them, Like, I
kind of liked that. I like the way Lebron has
raised his children. Obviously they're the james Is, but we
all been.

Kind of rocky with the James like we knew him.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
They didn't hide them, they didn't put blankets over their face,
they didn't act like we're They just were kids. They
just kids, went to school and they were at the
movies with dad and dad's playing video games. But they
try to make their life as normal as possible, considering
your life is not as normal as possible, right, So
I do like that Taylor has kind of conducted herself
in that way. But how is the locker room with that?
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Do they care? Is that we make a bigger deal
or is it really a thing?
Speaker 6 (08:57):
No, in the locker room, you'll definitely hear about it,
and there will be some, you know, a few jabs
here and there and playful jabs, and there is talking
chatter about it. But again, it's been how long it's
been now, two years, a couple of years, a couple
of years now, it's it's all. It's all kind of
pass at this point, it's done. But yeah, in the beginning,
it's always kind of a thing like you heard you
heard so and so's dating and so and so, and

it's it happens. It's definitely chatter. Those those locker rooms
can get can can really get to a point where
you're like, hey, man, mind your business.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
I was gonna say, let me ask you this.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
If they start off slow, and especially him, maybe in
particular where it's just supposed to be a comeback year,
and I acknowledge some things that I didn't play where
I wasn't locked in, and if they're in a situation
I don't.

I never expect him to be bad. That's just impossible.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I think when you have Andy Reid and and Patrick Mahomes,
but maybe they're just not clicking. Mean, they're winning games,
but ah, he's dropped a pass or two. He's just
we're not there. But we're winning, but we didn't want
to win like last year when we're barely winning. Does
someone throw that in his face? There's no question? Yes,
I mean I don't even have to think about that one.

It's the whole thing about the NFL and sports in general.

You want to keep your personal life outside of it, right,
and with this situation, there's no outside of it, right,
because we're dropping on Adam Schefter said, you know, tweeted
about oh it's official the fifty three man cut and tailor,
you know, like it's they didn't went to fifty four right, right,
it's it's it's it's not avoidable. It's right, it's not avoidable. So, yes,

you want to keep that stuff out of the locker room.
You want to have as much as less baggage as
you can and concentrate on the games because when you don't,
they point to it.

Man, they use it. It's part of part of the fodder,
for sure.

I have a list of some other great athletes with
entertainers spouses or partners and girlfriend would have you all right,
and I'm gonna throw that at you. And I also

you know how you feel about it. Also too, if
you believe this is counterintuitive to what he was saying,

where he's saying he's trying to lock in and be focused,
and then to drop this on us as well. Eight

think that matters to the Manning family, right, like having

portals and nils and blah blah blah. But for the

Manning family, it's a different family. It's built on legacy,
It's built on those types of things. So I expect
him to want to be there, participate until he feels ready.

see ment his own legacy. I don't think he's in
a rush man. And and for him, he is such
a beautiful place to win and to play at. If

you go to a team that gets number one and
it's a terrible city, then you're going into a terrible situation,
terrible organization, which we know the Mannings will not let
that happen anyway. So for him to avoid any of
that right now, just stay in college, have fun, and
we get a chance to see it early Texas versus
Ohio State game one. Get to see what arts is
all about man, so I'm excited to see what happens.

Yeah, and there's the other thing too, you just mentioned
it being where he is being in Texas too.

Plus I think there's an element we saw it happened
with his uncle and that eli kind of I don't
want to go to San Diego.

So I think there's an element of him being like,

of him that it would keep it in an eye
what's going on. He and his father's team, his grandfather,
his uncle. Everybody will be watching that and saying, unless
something insanely miraculous opens up, you know, some weird thing

where maybe Pittsburgh type of a team where it's a
good stable place to be obviously, you know, and Aaron
Rodgers is going to retire and they end up being
three or four and whatever, and somehow it's like exactly, well,
I'm not mad at that, you know, I'm not mad
at landing there or something. I don't know, some perfect
situation where you're like, all right, that's interesting. Other than that,

there's no real rush to me, man, And would I
would advise teams go out there and try to win. Now,
there's some other top quarterbacks that should be coming out.
They should be saying it's going to be a quarterback
heavy draft next year, or at least with the prospects
sitting here today.

Obviously, the season has to play itself out.

But if you're a team, I don't think you want
to sit you up there and put yourself in a
position to lose four fill in the blank.

and too much wherewithal and too much you know, he
has too many people in his ears that has been

you can tell he's a patient kid. And he went

to a team and went to a school where he
knew he was gonna have to wait a little bit
to play as well.

the rush, you know what I mean. He could have
went anywhere.

knew he was a guy and set and set and

guys could not move. But uh yeah, arch definitely has
an athletic component to him that they didn't have. Obviously,

Brady twice and he's a Manning. That's why he's gonna

get in. But to my surprise, I even blown away
he didn't get in off the bat because I thought,
you know, they're just gonna put him in, and he didn't.
And I Rob g and I have been saying, no,
he shouldn't be in. You know, maybe eventually he'll get
in because of the names. Rob said, Oh, he's absolutely that.
You know, where are you is Eli hall of Famer
to you?

I was actually actually surprised that Rob said he's a
first ballot Hall of Famer.

the city, so we've cassed paths quite a bit. But

he's going to get in eventually. But as far as
it being a clear cut Hall of Fame player, he's
not that. And so here's why it gets challenging to
you if you're gonna put him in. And I get it,
he's got the two Super Bowl rings, But at no
point did you go into games game planning for him.

Yeah, you know, you game plan for maybe the running game,
the defense, you all we got to watch out for
that front four. But you never really game plan for him.
And I have to say that he did have some
good years, of course he did, without a doubt he

the first ballot Hall of Famer for Cher, Like wait
a minute, hold on now, yeah, because then that means
the guy Rob really hates Matthew Stafford is we all
know he's more talented. He's now a Super Bowl winner,

stadium we watched it begin Swift was spotted on the

in that way. But how is the locker room with that?

College matters, legacy matters. You know, we know what.

Peyton means a Tennessee. We know what Eli means old miss.
We know what Archie means old miss. We now know
and hope, punchingly, we'll see what arch means the Texas.
Texas is a big school of blue blood. I just
think that matters to the Manning family, right, like having
your name cemented in college football? Yeah, I know, transfer
portals and nils and blah blah blah. But for the

Manning family, it's a different family. It's built on legacy,
It's built on those types of things. So I expect
him to want to be there, participate until he feels ready.

So I think he'll get two years there. We saw
him last year.

I think it was nine interceptions or nine touchdowns, A
couple of interceptions, almost a thousand yards played.

I'm sure he worked on those things during the offseason
and is locked and loaded ready for this big game

sure he's been schooled on all that already by everybody
in his family. And so for him, yeah, just enjoy

the college process. He means in Texas, in Austin, nice city,
nice town, nice town, to win, play football at you know,
arch arch arch his own career, so to speak, you
know what I mean, and and have a chance to
see ment his own legacy. I don't think he's in
a rush man. And and for him, he is such
a beautiful place to win and to play at. If

you go to a team that gets number one and
it's a terrible city, then you're going into a terrible situation,
terrible organization, which we know the Mannings will not let
that happen anyway. So for him to avoid any of
that right now, just stay in college, have fun, and
we get a chance to see it early Texas versus
Ohio State game one. Get to see what arts is
all about man, so I'm excited to see what happens.

Yeah, and there's the other thing too, you just mentioned
it being where he is being in Texas too.

Plus I think there's an element we saw it happened
with his uncle and that eli kind of I don't
want to go to San Diego.

So I think there's an element of him being like,

thirds of the way through the season, you know, you

I don't want to be a part of that organization, right,
I don't want to go join in with Dylan Gabriel
and Shador and you know all that they got going

of him that it would keep it in an eye
what's going on. He and his father's team, his grandfather,
his uncle. Everybody will be watching that and saying, unless
something insanely miraculous opens up, you know, some weird thing

where maybe Pittsburgh type of a team where it's a
good stable place to be obviously, you know, and Aaron
Rodgers is going to retire and they end up being
three or four and whatever, and somehow it's like exactly, well,
I'm not mad at that, you know, I'm not mad
at landing there or something. I don't know, some perfect
situation where you're like, all right, that's interesting. Other than that,
(30:37):
there's no real rush to me, man, And would I
would advise teams go out there and try to win. Now,
there's some other top quarterbacks that should be coming out.
They should be saying it's going to be a quarterback
heavy draft next year, or at least with the prospects
sitting here today.

Obviously, the season has to play itself out.

But if you're a team, I don't think you want
to sit you up there and put yourself in a
position to lose four fill in the blank.

I don't think that's just a good look.

No, again, this guy has he has too much training
and too much wherewithal and too much you know, he
has too many people in his ears that has been
that have been there, so he won't be in the rush,
and he will make the best decision based off of himself.
And I think that's the other part of it too.
It's not just about his family, it's about him. And
you can tell he's a patient kid. And he went

to a team and went to a school where he
knew he was gonna have to wait a little bit
to play as well.

Like this guy is a guy that he's not in
the rush, you know what I mean. He could have
went anywhere.

He went to Texas where Quinn Ierros was and he
knew he was a guy and set and set and
that's that's that's crazy by for athletes nowadays.

year and a half to two years of greatness and

And now that's not the case, you know what I mean.

So sometimes that backfires on guys who come back, they
take that next year. I don't think that was Lamar, right,

Matthews with Kalay Matthews, A lot of team the Williams,
sisters as well.

I think thirty whatever, he is big strong and can run.
That to me is an element. I think we'll finally
get to see out of the last two minutes Archie
could run. So he's more like Granddad in that regard.

But you know, as opposed to his uncles, I think
that who are statues?

You know he he is gonna be.

Able to move statues is an understatement. Both of those
guys could not move. But uh yeah, arch definitely has
an athletic component to him that they didn't have. Obviously,
if he has any if he's anywhere close to their
throwing ability and specifically Peyton's, he's gonna he's gonna like
light the League on fire and like College on fire man.

So I'm excited to see what he has has has
to offer for sure.

If if it's like three or four topics we have
biggest debates on regularly or routinely. One of them is
I say, Eli Manning is not a Hall of Famer
by play, but he will be by name. I say
it's because of two names, Manning and Brady. He beat
Brady twice and he's a Manning. That's why he's gonna

get in. But to my surprise, I even blown away
he didn't get in off the bat because I thought,
you know, they're just gonna put him in, and he didn't.
And I Rob g and I have been saying, no,
he shouldn't be in. You know, maybe eventually he'll get
in because of the names. Rob said, Oh, he's absolutely that.
You know, where are you is Eli hall of Famer
to you?

I was actually actually surprised that Rob said he's a
first ballot Hall of Famer.

Yeah, I was, like I was, I was really surprised.
I mean, as much as he he hates on.

Rob, Rob secretly loves New York. Okay, he loves the
hen Aaron Judge. He goes to bed rubbing the picture
of Aaron Judge. Uh, he loves Eli loves he loves
New York. He just tries that I'm unbiased. No, you

Yeah, No, I mean, yes, he's gonna eventually get in
because of because of the names that you just named.
But as far as Eli man, his regular season career
is very very underwhelming. And I like Eli lock really
cool guy. I mean, I know him I know him personally. Obviously,
we played in the same in the same era in
the city, so we've cassed paths quite a bit. But

he's going to get in eventually. But as far as
it being a clear cut Hall of Fame player, he's
not that. And so here's why it gets challenging to
you if you're gonna put him in. And I get it,
he's got the two Super Bowl rings, But at no
point did you go into games game planning for him.

You game planning for Tiki Barber.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Yeah, you know, you game plan for maybe the running game,
the defense, you all we got to watch out for
that front four. But you never really game plan for him.
And I have to say that he did have some
good years, of course he did, without a doubt he
he had a good career. But the identity is just
the first ballot Hall of Famer for Cher, Like wait
a minute, hold on now, yeah, because then that means
the guy Rob really hates Matthew Stafford is we all
know he's more talented. He's now a Super Bowl winner,

and he's gonna have better numbers. And that's exactly what
I said the Rob too the other day. I mean,
if if he's a clear cut. That means Matthew Stafford's
a Hall of Famer for sure. Threw him in his
