(01:20):
I'm sorry, Jonathan von Tobell.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
We've had them on what happened with sometimes Yeah, Yeah, Visten, senior.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
NBA analysts and host of Primetime on Visten So and
when you have last call, your chance to call in
and case you couldn't get in on any other topics,
we'll do that at the end of the show.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Rob Man, We've been talking about it.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Obviously, the whole world is talking about Game one of
the NBA Finals and what happened at the end. Tyres
Harper Lucy Tyre's Halliburton now four for four when it
comes to shots under two seconds. He's talking about game winners.
He is thirteen for fifteen with clutch shots in the season.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
He has more than Lebron, more than Kobe, more than
Jordan already in the playoff season.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
It is ridiculous what Tyrese Haliburton has already done. And
I started to think to myself, Ron Parker, I said
to myself, and after I said that, Tyrese Haliburton has
put him in his self for a position where at
this point, after last night, if they lose four straight,
he has.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Still won the postseason.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
He to me, has absolutely taken this postseason by storm.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
He is the talk of the postseason.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
He went from the most overrated to the most celebrated.
He's had the biggest storylines with all the buzzer beaters.
He even had his Pops and the drama there, and
you know you need drama, you need storylines, You need
juice to make things pop and and resonate and become
pop culture. You got buzzer beaters. He does the choke
sign to Miller. The way this team has come back.
(03:04):
And then you get to the NBA Finals and you
hit a game winner there, this is coming off again.
Where you played in the Olympics last year. You got
no minutes. So to me, Tyre's Halliburton, even if they lose,
has absolutely won the postseason.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
And sometimes that happens. I'll give you an example.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
We've rest ferenced this game, this person in this series
a lot two thousand Laker two thousand and one, Lakers
win the title and they go on to win and
Shaq was absurd.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
He was dominant.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
MVP and Rob g you were obviously a Laker fan.
You were living here when that happened. No one remembers
that series, do they? You know what you remember Alan
Iverson balling out forty one points, stepping over Tyron lou
and that is the thing from that series. Now again,
Tyre's Halliburton is still shooting and playing to win at
the title. I'm not saying that the Pacers want to
(03:52):
win this thing for sure, but he has won the
postseason already. Give the man the crown already for this.
He can only add to it. And one way rob
he can add to it is having a Kendrick Lamar
NBA version of Kendrick Lamar's rap year of twenty twenty
four into twenty twenty five. Kendrick Lamar was mine and
(04:14):
os business and just relaxing, and him and Drake get
into it and he beats Drake down in the beef.
He has the number one song, would like that and
then it becomes not like us. Then he has the
super Bowl performance and then he goes on a world
tour with Sizza and he had the greatest rap year
(04:35):
in rap history. And Tyre's Halliburton, if he were to
win this thing and have one more big.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Moment, don't even have to be a buzzer beat.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
But he has another perfect game, you know, thirty five,
fifteen to ten, no turnovers, then he will officially have
dominated this postseason it's been remarkable what he has done.
I stand here, I say I apologize to you. We
ignored you all year. They've been the second best team
since January, first number one being the Thunder, and they've
been on an amazing ride. And Tyree Salerburton, even in
(05:04):
the loss to me, rob has absolutely won this postseason.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Even if they lose in the finals. Absolutely not.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
And this is again crowning people before as great as
he's been. If they don't win the title, people don't.
They saw those shots. But it ain't the same as
winning and making those shots. It's always about winning sports
as a short menu. I've said it a million times.
Wins and losses. That's what people really think about, and
(05:34):
doing everything leading.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
It's just like the Thunder, all those numbers. Oh they
got the most double digit wins. Oh they did this.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Oh they want to tell none of it matters if
they don't finish the job. I'm telling you. Nobody talks
about the Warriors. What were they seventy three and nine.
Nobody talks about that team because they were they were
part of a three to one choke which never happened.
Nobody revers that team. They were unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
They didn't.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
He was more than two games in a row until
the finals when they did you know what I mean,
when they lost three in a row.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
So so you gotta seal the deal. You have to win.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
The only way people will look at Halli Burton and
be like, my god, that dude is a start is
he has to win.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
If they lose the next four games.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Do you think people are gonna be talking about the
shots that he made in game one?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (06:22):
No, they will not talk about this. They did the choke,
he took the mix out. No, he took the Calves
or the best He took the best team in the
East by far, the Calves.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
And even the one moment, even the one moment with
the choke, he stole that from Regi Miller.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
It ain't even its homae.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
No, but he was paying homage or homager homage. He
was paying homage. No, but even homage. For the rest
of you who want to say that to Reggie, why
don't you know Regi Miller was sitting there, rob No.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
But even then it's not his.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
And all I'm saying to you is people will not
celebrate that if they don't win, you gotta win. Kelvin
stopped trying to crown people without winning. That's what's wrong
with society. That's why we have issues here. And these
young people think they're doing something without winning.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Look, you gotta win. Look at me right now.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
That fan has won these first three rounds. Now he's
where he's gotten.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
That that that name I gave him earlier, which one.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Indiana doesn't even work all the way unless they win
the championship. If they win the championship, you could see
right they're thirty for thirty Indiana.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Rogie, do me a favorite Google? How much is going
to cost me to trademark that? You better guy? Even
though he did it, I'm a trademark. I'll give him
some pain.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Happens every day. Somebody's already done it. They listen to
the show, Indiana, you already.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Listen what you said. It was cute, it was adorable,
and I'm pinching your cheeks. It was really cute. That
is not the case, Rob Parker. Can we go cross
the pinch cheat? Yeah, if you're on your face and
make sure all right.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Or's case to clinch cheek because now he's getting needles
and stuff.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
I mean, Rob g omptable people just coming and you stab?
Are you stabbing yourself or as your wife doing it?
Speaker 5 (08:07):
No?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I stab myself? Do you really? Yep?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
It's come that far. You said you be dang with
the dumbbells an elliptical. Oh that's coming later eventually.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
So how long does it take for it to take
hold of you and and take pounds off you?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Like?
Speaker 6 (08:22):
What's the I'm already down a pound and a half
in a day. No, you just took it a good bathroom. Yeah,
I really it. The the dose that J'm on now
is so minimal that it doesn't really do anything. It's
not until next month where I'm really cranking it up. Okay, right,
anyway back, I'm gonna win this weight loss challenge. By
the way, there you are, cheater.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
My point was Reggie Miller robs both of you. Is
Reggie Miller never won a championship, but all we talk
about was that ninety four run with those those you know,
the clutch plays that he was making against those knicks.
So my point is sometimes s G. A might go
on to win finals MVP. I predict that he will.
(09:03):
I predict him to win, but if it ends up
being just a normal series and he wins finals MVP
and they win in five or six. We won't think
about all he have ever that thunder team. But when
I'm renching Tyreese Halliburton, where I mentioned that that run
twenty twenty five playoffs, you're gonna think about how he
came back and beat the Bucks, How he came back
(09:23):
and beat the Cavs and hit big winners in game winners.
How he's four for four under two seconds, how he
is thirteen to fifteen on the season in crunch time,
clutch minutes, how he did the chokes on, how he
went to the hole said, ah, damn, you deflected. Let
me skirt all the way back and shoot a three,
which he thought was the three in the be the two.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
And I just think he has had.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
A remarkable run with the narrative that he's the most
overrated and he's telling y'all to to shut up overrate this.
What is Pops going crazy about the scrap with y'all
is when I sent that boy home.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Nah, this has been the Tyleries halliburnon ploffs.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
What the if he doesn't play well and he's bad
at the end and they lose three, they lose the
next four games, right, No, one's gonna be talking about.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
This postseason with Halliburton.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
What are gonna talk about They're gonna talk about they No,
they're gonna talk about Shaye getting a championship, got the MVP.
It'll be about him. It will not be about what
Halliburton did in a failed run. Now, if they closed
the deal, they win the championship, Now you have a
whole storyline, narrative, you relived that, you become a thirty
for thirty. There is no thirty for thirty without the championship.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
And that's the point the isanity. No, they had the
insanity one and he ain't do nothing, but for two
weeks that was turned the man got a thirty for
thirty over two weeks. What they gonna do with Tyres Halliburton? No,
what the hell are they gonna do.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
They're just making up stuff because it's not It's just like, uh,
what was the baseball movie?
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'm always with the A. Yes, they didn't even want
to check, like they did.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
This whole movie, a full blown movie, and the best
they did with twourmove My point, No, I'm.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Not that stuff doesn't have to be to win the mento. No,
but they also they had to doctor that up to
make it more appeal.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
He's gonna be like, Okay, it's not let me tell
you what if you want to doctor it and say
that he won a championship doing all that.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
They got a doctor. You know what, rob g you
know what it is.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
It's Rocky Rocky what he lost the Apollo creed and
everybody loved Rocky was like, man, that dude.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
He fought Hardy made made a name for himself. Rocky.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yeah, if you if I can do it, you can
do it, and we can do it. This will be
Tyrese Haliburton. He will be Rocky even if he loses.
What the Helly, I just can't I can't believe.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I can't believe. You don't get what I'm saying. No
I do. I just don't agree with it. That's all. Well,
that's why we died a couple. Dang it.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
We are all right eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.

Halliburn already won the postseason? As says, We'll continue this
conversation with you next on a funky Flashback Friday, It

what to do, Stick and.

It is the Odd Couple, Rob Parker, Kevin Washington on
a funky flashback Trilers Johnson Brother.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
I think so right?
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yeah, you think I don't know any black music?
Speaker 4 (12:42):
No, I don't say that. Really, I don't think you
listen to any.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
I think no.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
God, I think you know you're like, well they stopped
playing brother Johnson. No, this was your era now anything
after like ninety five?
Speaker 2 (12:57):
I don't think so. All right?
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Really you're ready for it? Well, let Express Employment professionals
help you. While Express helps people in all industries, fine
work are sweet Spot is logistic roles and Express never

to get some more info on that. Jonathan von Tobel
getting ready to join us in a little bit. V
Sen senior NBA analysts will have him on in about
nine minutes or so. Right now, take some phone calls.
(13:21):
I just think Tyre's Helliburton has already stolen the headlin.
He is the It's was his playoffs. Call it the
twenty twenty five year of Tyre's Helliburton. And Rob says
he has to win it to make that happen. I
said he won it already.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
What's say you? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
With Shard in San Antonio. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up for Shard?
Speaker 7 (13:41):
Hey, what's going on? Uncle Rob?
Speaker 5 (13:43):
Rob g Alex and Mary mcins's there? And what's upk Dove? Man,
it's my first time talking to me. I'll called them before.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
This is the first time I'm talking to you. You're
doing a great job, man.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Man, appreciate you. Shan you know you.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
No matter what they try to say about saying Antonio,
he keeps wanting to bring up how San Antonio did
pull for ratings, and I messed with.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
Fact is I'm from I'm not actually from here. I'm
a retired military member. I was out in the Air
Force in twenty one years.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Thank you for your service too.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Now it's all good man. So with K doug Man,
because K I gotta disagree with you. I'm with Uncle Rob.
People are crown and two people too soon. Man. You
have to win. For example, Tom Brady had one of
the best reformed to the Super Bowl history. They don't
talk about it because Nick Foles beat it. Yes, living
right here in San Antonio. Weinby's Book of Year was awesome.
(14:36):
I watched it. I was here. He was excellent, could
have been Defensive Player of the Year. But it didn't
equate to winning. He did not win. You gotta win.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
K doug Hey with Sean, let me give you another one, Okay,
hear this. I'll give you two of them. Phoenix Suns
are up to oh in the finals.
Speaker 7 (14:53):
Yeah right.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
And what did they say, Chris Paul and now one
of the top three point guards.
Speaker 7 (14:57):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
And they also said that Devin Booker was the next
Kobe to both of them, that they crowned.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Him and they lost. You don't hear no Devin Booker
and no Kobe. And you don't hear no Paul. Chris
Paul is a top three point.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Come now let me go back to you, Rashan. Let
me let me Rishan, let me tell you something. You're
about to maybe get o of on the plane and
come to Texas. Listen, all right, now, everything you're saying
I agree with. If we're talking about legacy, this ain't that.
What I'm saying is he has stolen to see what
he did this is. But what I'm saying is he
has stolen the plays. He has put himself now where
(15:33):
we have conversations about him, where we did not. He
has put himself on the map. They say, you making
your name during the season, you make your fame in
the postseason. Well he is extremely famous, if that's the case,
And so what I'm saying is for the call. But
he is, all of a sudden the guy we're talking about.
We have expectations for when none of us did this beforehand.
And if SGA continues to do what he does and
just put up thirty like it's nothing, quietly put up
(15:54):
thirty wins, you'll be like, Okay, they won, they were
supposed to win, they were highly favored. They just lost
the game in their favorite Robert eleven and a half.
Like you would go, all right, cool, we expect any
of this from Tyre's Halliburton, let alone going this crazy
and game with the shots.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
We got Rob in Memphis, your couple, Fox Sports Radio?
Speaker 2 (16:12):
What's up, rob.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
B?
Speaker 7 (16:15):
What's up? Rob? G?
Speaker 8 (16:17):
Rob Kelvin Man. Just let me throw y'all too flowers first,
real quick, y'all are so talented and I never missed
a show, not because I don't listen.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
We love it, Rob, we love it.
Speaker 8 (16:32):
I love y'all. But look here man, Oh. Also Rob,
I love how you always keep people grounded with their opinions,
don't let them be a prisoner of the moment and
overreach whether you agree with him or not. I love that,
Thank you, But let me say I disagree with you
right now though, talk that talk, Rob Man. Look, we
(16:54):
still talk about how Alan Everson won that game one
to this day, that's all the highlight of your career,
even though we know the Gentleman's sweet man.
Speaker 7 (17:05):
Still to this.
Speaker 8 (17:06):
Day, everybody talking about how Iverton wheeled them to that
one game win. I don't need to set that out
of this series, but you gotta admit we've been talking
about that for like twenty five years now, and that's
all I wanted to say, love.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Y'all Daniel in South Carolina. You're in the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Daniel, Hey, guys, love the
show man, Thank you.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
This would be real simple. Halliburton has stolen the playoffs
and that's that's it. But I got one thing to say.
This is to Rob mister Parker. You know you. I
think Tuesday you called it showing my ass Tuesday, and
I think you referenced ass traffic Monday. But you know,
(17:51):
I think I think you. I think you're showing shade
on ear. Mike Tyson, Man, you want to get in
that game you need to have. You need to have
a flabby ass Friday when you get into your studio
or home or whatever you're doing. I see you on
Instagram all the time. You mean to go in there
with a girdl, do a three sixties and then sit
(18:14):
down because you can't me talking all that game. Man,
I swear your fighting trying to fight Tyson.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
You not at all.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Daniel Daniel will be the reasons. So why did Kelvin
Washington quit the Outcome? Because Daniel Daniel justin this craziness.
You get a line better at your screen from Afar
I would have to be two feet away from it.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Thank you, Thank you, buddy.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Come on, and I like South Carolina been down I
got some family down there.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
I ain't going back no more. My man. Appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Don't you ever get no idea like that like that?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
That is not listening.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
But dang it, if you get an idea like that, permanently,
I'm doing the show from at home.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
No, no, thank you.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
All right, on the way, Jonathan von Tober, we'll talk
some uh some what we can expect with this game
you of the NBA Finals in just a little bit.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
But right now, let's find out what's trending.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
It's Siakaa Robin Kelvin on the fucking Flashback Friday. Thank
you for rocking with your boys, and uh, thank you
to everybody for listening, except Daniel in South Carolina, because
he's trying to suggest you walk around here with the
Mike Tyson thong and the box.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
It that ain't happening. And I didn't sign up for that.
I did not sign up for that. All right, Uh,
let's get to it.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
We got Jonathan von Tobeo v Sen, senior NBA analysts,
host of Prime Time on v Sen and you can
give him a follow on X ME j VT.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Jonathan. What's up? How you yo? What's happening?
Speaker 7 (19:34):
What's up, guys? I'm feeling good. We got a good
series on our hands in the NBA Finals, so excited
to see how this thing's gonna play out.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Well, maybe you were the only one watching. His numbers
were terrible, so I was just the three of us.
The three of us must have been watching. You know,
it's the Lotus?
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Ready? Did you see the numbers?
Speaker 7 (19:49):
I did? And all I can say is that the
true is the tried and true. At least we know
what we're watching.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
No, definitely, let's go here.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Though, I thought last night, and I told Kelvin I'll
taking ten and a half points.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I thought that was a.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Ridiculous point spread. Where were you on that? Because that
looked obvious? And I even brought up teams win can
win game one, you know, on the road in the finals.
I remember the seventy six ers doing it against the Lakers.
They didn't win another game, but they won game one.
Where were you last night? Did you think that was
a good bet? Ten and a half? What did you
(20:23):
take to give the ten and a half?
Speaker 7 (20:25):
Yeah? Oh, I thought number wise, it was it was
going to be Indiana, just because ten and a half
a lot, right, Like the band deserve a little bit
more credit. Yeah, and like now I would be absolutely clear.
I was certain Oklahoma City was gonna win.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
I believe that, right, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
But I thought the number was a little high. And
what's crazy is so you see them, you know, they
win that game out right, they're pretty competitive throughout the
entire game, kind of within thirteen points. Game two, it
opens up to eleven and a half. Year now for
game two, it's wild And I get it.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
What's the number you said that after losses.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
Twenty points? Yeah, and there are four losses in the postseason.
They being the thunder they usually win by an average
of twenty Is that playing a role in that number
being so high?
Speaker 7 (21:06):
So I think there's that. There's also just the general
thought of in the bettings. You know, the theory that
it's a zigzag, right, So that's the betting theory, so
that you just bet the team that lost the outright
games or the game out right previously, and if you've
done it in this postseason, straight up losers are forty
one twenty two to one against the spread in the
next game. So it's generally been a pretty good bet
(21:26):
to come back in and just bet the team that
lost the previous game. They've been covering numbers left and right.
So not only would the Thunder have done, but just
in general, betting these outright losers the next game has
served you well in this postseason.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah, I mean I'm looking at some other, you know,
stories you could be looking at. Is it a foregone
conclusion right now that SGA is just going to be
the MVP?
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Is that kind of where that he's gone home?
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Well, money wise, I'm talking about the money, like to say,
not not real, not actual basketball saying the money is it?
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Is it good money to put it on him?
Speaker 7 (21:56):
I mean, if you think they're gonna win, Yeah, Like
I think these these vote can be pretty simple at times.
And if you're talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder, I
don't see that there's many venues like Anny Alleys that
they go down that they win this series in Shade
doesn't ultimately win that award because the other part is
like his role players didn't really play particularly well the
other day, right, Jayalen Williams was fine, but he missed
a big wide Open three chef Holmgren was very poor
(22:18):
by his own standards. The only guy that really showed
up was Lou Dort, and that think Dort's gonna do
enough on offense to get MVP from Shake Gildis Alexander
if they're gonna win it. So he's actually a lot
cheaper now than he was before game one. Before game one,
you were laying six hundred and fifty bucks to win
one hundred. Now you're only laying like two hundred and thirty.
So they're down one game. Obviously, that's the whole point
of why that got cheaper. But if you want to
(22:39):
bet it now, it's going to be the cheapest price
you get, especially if they win this next game.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
And you talked about game two, I just there's no
way I saw the Pacers steal a game against the
Knickson game one, right, came back in a one game
two in New York, Right, There's no way I would
take I would not think the Pacers have a good
shot to win. Only from this standpoint, Jonathan.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
They didn't play well.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
They really didn't play well like Caliburn had with that
blast basket at fourteen points. Go look at the numbers
they turned the ball over twenty times in the first half. Like,
what was good about that game? They will play better,
don't you think?
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Like that I think is gonna be really interesting. Is
this bounce back in Like you're arguing here, you could
bounce back if you're Indiana because you played extremely poor
and yet you still ended up winning the game. You
talk about the turnover margin that was abysmal, forum, you
talk about just the margin in terms that they got outshot,
right in terms of just total field goal. Yes, the
Thunder absolutely lapped them there, and they still ended up
(23:43):
getting the victory. I think there's a really strong argument
to me made that, Yes, like the Indiana Pacers can
play better, especially with the turnovers, Like that's not their game.
They usually take care of the ball. I know the
Thunder are very good at forcing those. But I think
that's why you're a little freaked out if you're Oklahoma City, Like, look,
they didn't play particularly well. You should have won that game,
and yet they still stole it from you. Now, if
they put forth that effort again, the Thunder should be
(24:05):
able to win that game. But you're right, like that
was not a good effort from Indiana and they still
grab that thing. And they have plenty of road experiences
you just listed off.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
That's why I'm calling them the Indiana Pacers. Now that's
where we are, Jonathan, the Indiana Pacers.
Speaker 7 (24:19):
Man, it's incredible. I'll just say real quick, Like you guys,
I'm sure we've seen all the stats, like every single
stat starts with since nineteen seventy one, right, you know
what I mean? Oh and whatever before the Pacers. It's
been incredible and we're watching the I think the best
run of clutch shooting in me me an NBA postseason
history with Matis Haliburt has been doing this.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
You know what, Steph Cory wish he has one signature shot.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
We almost made it through the whole. We're not going
to do that.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
He doesn't have one.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
He's oer for fourteen win a big shot at the
end of the game to tie or put his team
ahead in the postseason.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 7 (24:52):
I remember a big Steph Curry shot, but I think
it was Kyrie Irving who hit it.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
When Steph, oh, there you go, man, go they can
shot this stuff. Jonathan von tobeo VS and senior NBA
analysts host a prime time on Vsan joining us. Now
on the couple Rob and I on a Fucky flashback Friday.
All right, so let's go to the move that Mike
Dagenhault made, which was taking out Hartenstein. What do you
(25:19):
make of that move? Is that something we can expect
in game two? Is that a permanent move? I mean
that some people are saying that may have had a
large reason they got out rebounded. He was playing well
nine points and I rebounds in seventeen minutes, but didn't
he couldn't get any clock.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Would you make of that?
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Yeah, So I think I was kind of surprised that
he didn't start him, but I wasn't surprised at his role.
You know, if you look at the last three games
against Minnesota, that's what happened with Hartenstein. He had started
those games, but ultimately he was only averaging about fourteen
to fifteen minutes per game. I think it might be
a little light on that. I think maybe it was
up to sixteen in the last three games against Minnesota.
So you kind of saw his role diminish and actually
thought that was going to be the case. I thought
(25:55):
he was gonna have a diminished role here, but I
figured he would start. I actually have more of a
problem if you guys think about this of going small
to close out the game, like Holmerid only plays twenty
four minutes, they play all five guards and then task
off Jakoms killing him on the offense and blast multiple times.
So I don't know if it was not starting Hartenstein
as much as it was going small to close the
game out and then doing little things like playing aj
(26:17):
Mitchell in a in a postseason game or a finals
game nonetheless, or Aaron Wiggins right like, those were the things.
But I thought going small at the end was a
bigger deal than just not starting Heiseiah Hartenstein.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
Yeah, we talked about that.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
They got it because the Pacers got a couple of
offensive rebounds that were key. And you lost that lob
threat too, Jonathan. You know when you when you didn't
have chat in there. Guy, when somebody gets into paint,
they get thrown up to him. You did lose that
as well.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Yeah, let me ask you about Rick Carlisle and coaching
in the NBA. When you look at teams, we know
Rick Carlile is a really good coach and he out
coached Tims. Probably cost him his job in that situation here.
Do you expect uh Rick Carlisle to have that because
you know, once they stole Game one, and I guess
(27:04):
you can look at it if he makes any kind
of moves or whatever to change this or wins this series.
Where would that put Rick Carlisle Because that would be
two championships with two different franchises.
Speaker 7 (27:17):
Oh yeah, I mean I think in like the nature
of which he won those championships too, right, like like
pretty solid upsets. If he were to pull this off
again too with the Indiana Pacers and being able to
do it with the teams that he did it with,
So I think you've got to put him up there
amongst all of the greatest coaches that we have seen
do this before, because he's done it in different ways
against some pretty mammoths, like it looks like franchises and
(27:38):
teams that are going to be there for a long
time and win multiple championships. So I think you have
to respect him a ton. I think that he clearly
out coached quite a few like you're talking about. I
think you could argue he out coached dagn I thought
Dag's probably out coached himself a little bit in Game one,
But if Carlisle pulls this off, I think he's so
good at crafting his team to what is in front
of him. Right, whatever his roster is, he changed is
(28:00):
the way that he coaches. If I have a core
of a half court oriented team built around Dir Davitsk
or whoever, then we're gonna do that. And if we're
gonna get a fast paced bunch of guys who can
get up and down the floor, we're gonna do that.
I'm gonna screen pace pace over and over again, do
you guys while we're sprinting up and down the floor.
I think Carlile is brilliant, and I think he's proven
the time and time again in this postseason. For sure.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Yeah, he has been brilliant. We've talked about that. Maybe
they have probably not. Maybe they have the coaching edge
with him and all that experience that he has. If
he go to SGA, he just continues. I told them,
I said, just put thirty five on the board before
the game star. Just put thirty five because he's just
gonna get that. He does it so efficiently usually and
very easily. Just what are you making him? As far
(28:37):
as this kid who was a promising oh man he
could be something with the Clippers to them trading him
away and now he's the MVP. You know, he could
have rent runner up last year. How good is he
and what's his sailing?
Speaker 7 (28:51):
So I am I have a special view on this.
I'm a Clippers fan. I don't think I've told you
guys this in my time that I've been on with you.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
You got no reason continue.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
So like I loved watching Shay when he was with
the Clippers and thought he was going to be very good.
They didn't expect this. I mean, I think he's got
the ability to be at all time great just because
of longevity. I think his age, his game ages very well. Right,
He's not a guy that's going to be reliant on
physicality or getting to the rim or being punished. That
jump shot is always going to be there. The ability
to get to the mid range is always going to
(29:21):
be there. He's going to be able to play for
a really long time. So if not just for the
ability to play long and compile numbers and be there
for a while outside of the potential to win championships,
because this team does seem load it up and ready
to go, I think that he's going to be very,
very good for a very long time. But say, since
we're talking about him, I don't know how you guys felt.
I thought down the stretch she could have asked for
a little bit more from me a time. So there
(29:42):
was a moment where he's guarding Pascal Siakam and lets
them blow by him for an offensive board. You know,
he gets blown by Tyree Taliburton at one point in
the fourth quarter and gives up a layup. You know,
this is the finals, and I know, lots on your
shoulders and you took thirty shot attempts and it's tough,
but if we're winning championships, you got to do it
on both ends. The greats do it on both ends.
And I thought there were moments yesterday where he kind
(30:02):
of stays he's a little short, especially on the defensive end,
and maybe expect a little bit more from him.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
And the other thing too, And I don't know, people
watching them up close, and all the people worried about
the officials, you know, giving him so many fouls and
free throws.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
That could alter that could change too, kit, couldn't it.
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Now that people have made such a big deal out
of it, what if they look at him and referee
him differently Latin next year.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
Yeah, I mean, I think that could be part of
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
I'm not saying he's gonna fall off the map, but
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
Well, and to your point, like it didn't happen this year,
but remember last year, halfway through the year, the NBA
all of a sudden decided to start swallowing the whistles,
and like the game changed in the regular season. Like
they're not above changing the way they officiate or emphasize officiating.
So you could see an hot down year right, every
once in a while for him if they decide to
do something like that. But I think he is still
very good at what he does. Like you said, he's
(30:55):
not really going to have a dramatic drop off, but
that is a part of his game and there's no
denying it.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
All right, Well, so we'll get you out here very
quickly on this one if you can.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
What's your prediction? Where are we going now?
Speaker 7 (31:06):
You say you're talking series or game series series, I'll
say I'll say thunder in five thunder.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Oh wow, so they just go four straight gentlemen sweating,
you're crazy? You have a sugar enough, Jonathan, what are
you talking about? I had the.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I the Pacers in six before last night, and I'm
sticking with it.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
And they on in six games.
Speaker 7 (31:30):
I had thunder and five. That was my pick too,
so I'm sticking with Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
I'm thunder and five with you to Jonathan, Yeah, I
picked in five as well. All right, all right, appreshate
your man, Jonathan von Tobeer gave and follow me JVTV
on X give and follow.
Speaker 2 (31:41):

involving college sports. Oh that's gonna be very interesting. So
something finally came down. We'll talk about that as well.

kelvin Washington on a fucky flash back Friday.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
What's that? Oh go ahead? Oh yeah? Uh so yeah,
one more time for us?
Speaker 4 (32:53):
And uh before we go, Rob kind of teaser a
moment ago, there's some news that's coming out of uh
college sports and uh about money and revenue share.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Rob, you got more of.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
This, yes, sir. This just came down about fifteen minutes ago.
Judge Claudia Wilkins South to Claudia has approved a deal
to the NCAA. I watched that show, I Claudia, you
never had that House of Representatives, which seventy six pages.
There's lots to read through, but the gist of it
is schools are now free to begin paying their athletes directly,
(33:29):
marking a new era in college sports. Legal settlement is
in place. There's going to be a back pay of
nearly two point eight billion dollars from the NCAA over
the next ten years to the athletes who competed in
college from twenty sixteen to present day. But again the
headline is, you don't got to have a collective, you
(33:50):
don't got to have an nil. According to this settlement,
at least schools will be able to pay their athletes directly.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
They should and they should have been doing it anyway.
I told you, I've said that before. You want to
stop the wild wild West. When nil and you're letting
the sponsors and boosters pay and put up money. It
should have been coming from the schools. They make money.
And if you don't have the money, then you could
drop your program. If you can't compete, you know, like
anybody else, if you don't have a business, if you're
(34:18):
in business or something, you can't compete, you know, money, or.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
What do you do? Close your business? Can't getting none?
Speaker 1 (34:24):
We could do or you do it the other way,
which is share Like this has been for a long time.
They probably could have figured out something a long time ago,
but they never wanted to share with the players. They decided, no,
we got the golden goose. We're gonna keep taking from them.
We're gonna throw kids out of college if they get
(34:46):
a free pizza or free tattoos or or you know,
you better not go get an agent because if you do,
then we're gonna make you ineligible. Like none of the
stuff was in the best interest of the player. Okay,
you got an agent, right, but you're not a professional,
so you get drafted in play, so they wouldn't even
let you get an agent. Before you get to me
(35:08):
get an agent, you didn't get drafts, you come back
to school. Why would you make it a penalty. If
a kid didn't get drafted, he's not a pro. If
you get an agent, you're a pro. No, man, I've
been screaming for so long. The result of all of
this is by them being greedy for so long. That's
all they had to do was twenty five years ago,
thirty years ago. Go all right, here's what we're gonna
(35:29):
do football. Because you bring in so much revenue in
most schools, not all, but most schools, we're gonna pay you,
you know, fifty thousand dollars. Again, I'm going thirty years ago,
so that would have been a lot more money. Wow, Okay,
you got a chance fifty year and each year you
go up your sophomorego sixties juniors, and all these athletes
wanted at the time was just some money that I'm
(35:49):
not criminalized for cash getting for taking a pizza because
I sold my Nikes that I get for free, because
I got, you know, twenty five pair and I sold ten.
And I got trouble your jersey that you have, that's
your property that you decide to trade.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
You can't do that.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
And I've always said what the college, what college was
doing to these players was identity theft. I get to
take your name, your image, you like, is your number
on the jury, everything about you. Put five foot, this,
this weight, this y, this number on a video game,
we all know it's you.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
And they said, but they say, they said, that's not you.
I don't have to pay you. Who else was number
thirty two on the Michigan Wolverine year playing this position?
What come on? Man?
Speaker 4 (36:31):
So I'm just I always said, that's just straight up identity.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
If you remember, they closed down that game rather than pay,
then they brought it back show you, and then they
brought it back and given kids five hundred dollars. Man,
kids signing up for that, I was like a free game,
and five hundred.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Dollars you know what else I'm gonna do. You know
what I'm gonna do is no, I'm gonna hold out.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
Kids tried to do that to form a union and
all that stuff at Northwestern.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
So which is the right thing?
Speaker 1 (36:59):
The college sports need a collective bargaining at this point
they do. They need somebody who can look over all
of those kids, because you can't do it individually.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Individually, you're weak.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
As a collective bargaining bargain group where the interest in
is for everybody, you can have strength.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
That's why if they're smart, some of the leaders from
the bigger schools or the maybe the bigger conferences SEC,
big ten, you go and get some uh see if
you can go do lunch with the MLB's Players Association,
you know.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
For forever, Like why in the world, Pro.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Football, NFL, all these leagues, Like what are you thinking?
It real simple? Oh they got that, Okay, we're gonna
go there.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
What do we do? You do? What do you do?
Speaker 1 (37:43):
But but the big thing is you have to be
willing to stop the game. If you stop the game. Baseball,
the players did it no World Series. Did they get
their attention of the owners?
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yes? They did.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Okay, you don't stop the game, then you're never going
to be in They'll call your bluff.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
Yep, they'll call you bluff. If they see you willing
to stop it, they'll do it. So this is a
long overdue. We'll see how, you know, how it plays out,
but I guess at this point, I mean, we already
knew college especially college football and big time college basketball,
was essentially pros, and now they're officially prolite.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
You know where, Hey, you get to, we get to
get paid, we get to somebody. Yeah, I'm good with it.
I got no issues. Whatsouch.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
It's funny seeing the high school kids ain't gonna lie
rolling around the bends and stuff because they're like the
top quarterback around here in southern California.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
It's kind of funny getting that bread early. I'm not mad. No,
enjoy the weekend, would you get at your good good?
Baseball's all relax and just chilling this weekend. We have
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon is coming up next.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
I never miss your radio show.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
I never hear it, so I never miss it. Did
you hear that
