owner of Prestige Management Group and basketball analyst, joins us
in about twenty eight minutes, so we'll do that, plus
a little last call if you weren't able to get

(01:26):
in earlier so a lot to get to. In our
number three, Rob G, NBC has some news. You know,
they're getting the NBA back after a big hiatus, and
they put out there proudly that they have a new
person who's going to be in a contributor role, not

(01:47):
like a regular role. But Rob G, pull the curtains back.
Who is that?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
In case people missed.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
It, Yeah, if we made fun of Seam schern open
the show like, hey, breaking news, the idea of ya considered,
this is like three steps above that.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Not quite breaking you because we don't know what it
is you mentioned.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
But Michael Jeffrey Jordan, his airing is number twenty three,
the goat the greatest of all time, has signed on
to be part of NBC's NBA coverage. The only problem
is NBC Michael Jordan pick your favorite reporter. Nobody has
said and knows exactly what he's gonna do. So he's
gonna be the term is special contributor to the NBA.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
We're gonna have to wait in the NBC. We're gonna
have to see what it is. Whatever this particular role is.
It ain't that Tom Brady type announcer. Rob you know,
ten years and almost nearly a half billion dollars three.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Hundred seventy five, fully guaranteed more than he made in
the NFL.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
It ain't that type of situation which obviously we don't
know money yet, but I mean where they announced like, hey,
it's gonna be a ten year deal three seventy five.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
So this isn't that.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
I think they're just the magnitude of it was already
big in of itself, like just getting Michael Jordan, because
he's kind of like the Locknus monster, the big like
you don't see him, you never hear from him. He
might pop up and smile and for commercial suit or
he might pop up and smile and something. That's what
made the last dance so crazy was that somebody who normally,

(03:12):
especially post NBA, had become historically hidden in private, opened
up and let us in a little bit, gave us
some insight, gave him his thoughts on things, a multitude
of things, and obviously it was, you know, very much
in favor of him. But still we didn't see that
coming that we will be able to have ten episodes
of access to Michael Jordan. I think there's a tendency

(03:36):
to be like a little apprehensive because you haven't heard
from him and so by. But I think the key
part of this is contributing role, meaning we don't know
what it's going to be. And I think if utilized correctly,
this could actually be pretty cool because he has been
under the lessons moral rob kind of a Jay Z interview.
Jay Z doesn't do a lot of interviews. When he does,
it kind of makes noise because, oh, shoot, we haven't

(03:58):
heard from him in so long, and that's been Michael Jordan.
So I think if Jordan is using the right capacity,
this could be all right. You don't use him every day,
and as an analyst, I don't think that's where he
would be best suited. I want to hear a little
bit more of the this is where I took you
personal or laughing at Gary Payton thinking he was better
than him. I want a little bit of the snarky,
honest Michael Jordan. So I would hope if you get

(04:20):
him on the court doing a breakdown with SGA SJA,
you use a lot of.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
The mid range.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
I use him in I know more people use it
in midrange and they break it down, they talk a
little smack talk, a little what I would have did
to you back in the day, how I would have
guarded you. Some stuff like that show a little bit
of his personality. I think that would be great using
him in that capacity, finding these ways to get him
to pull some inside of the player, having him do
one on one with some older players talking about the league,

(04:46):
where he's right in his comfort zone, right and they
get to talk, smack and have fun. He sit him
down with Reggie Miller and they go at it how
they used to go at it.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Or with you like NBA TV filling hours.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
I just want that's a contributed role. I don't think
he's going to necessarily.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
No, I'm not saying that either, but I think, uh,
star players have struggled, like really struggled on television. Okay,
Tom Brady is not like like hit it out of park.
He's not a natural. He's not a lot of people
don't have just haven't gotten used to him yet, Like
he's not a natural. But the other thing is, uh,

(05:24):
Joe Montano is a great player, was terrible all right
in an analyst role. Uh doctor j was on NBC
was terrible. I could go on and on on Emmitt Smith.
You remember when Emma Smith did do you remember? Sometimes
I'm just saying I do, but some guy was just
sitting there. We should have known. But I'm just saying,
but there are guys, uh, and in this case, I

(05:46):
you know, depending on what they have. I just I'm
not so sure how open and honest Jordan's gonna be.
And the documentary is different because remember him and Charles
Barkley fell out over Charles having comment. So that's what
I'm trying to say, is, are we really expected Michael
Jordan to take people a task?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
You know what I mean? Or really like that's why
you don't put him in that position, because you're right,
I don't.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
I don't know. The only the only way I gotta
be honest, I could see him even remotely being successful
at doing this is just like a kind of once
a month sit down talk with somebody and maybe get
into somebody just about their feelings about basketball and what

(06:33):
they're like and see, you know what I mean, like
like Mike making a connection to a younger player, But
but like criticizing a coach or criticizing or having a
debate on whether or not you're the go to I
don't see any of that making sense for Michael Jordan
enjoy just don't.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
He might also enjoy meeting. I don't like to be
the butt of the joke meeting child's talking about me
as an owner in this, that and the other.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
It's not a butt of a just being honest about
Michael Jordan's ability, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (07:03):
Some people can be honest. Some people can give it,
they can't take it, you know what I'm saying. So
maybe he couldn't take it, but he'd be comfortable giving
it a little bit.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
I really don't see that in Michael Jordan's I would
be surprised of him criticizing other people.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
That's why I see him do breakdowns.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
So when you see Alex Rodriguez getting that batter box,
not literally, but you know, kind of breaking down in
that batter I would love to see Jordan boom. This
is where I'm talking about sga is getting to the elbow.
This is where I used to kill people right here
because everybody thought about me as your airing this. But
I'm also you know, putting up buckets and mid rangs,
fradal that kind of stuff, like man putting us insight
into the goat. What did he do talk about footwork,

(07:39):
talk about the tenacity, talk about the mental aspect of
the game. That's where Kobe was gonna be great. It
was post career obviously before his.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Uh look at I look at Michael Jordan, and I
just I would rather see him have conversations. Yeah, not
not nuts and bolts, not doing tape or anything like
that like that that should be for coaches. I would
love to see if he can get these guys to
talk about basketball. And it's in a standpoint of you know,

(08:09):
like when they fell in love with it. What is
it about the game, you know, like like a little
deeper dive into the sea.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
I don't know, but that's where I actually will go
to your normal about journalistic. See journalistically, I think he
you get those people who know how to pucket, you know,
pluck and prob and ask great questions. I think for him,
like right now showing warm up of Julius Randall right now, like.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Michael Jordan talking about somebody's shot or how comparing it.
I think it's hard for him to compare his game
to almost anybody. And the standpoint of you know, like
well you're this guy here and you're and and now
he's telling you about, well, how come you can't make
that shot or or like that. This is the time.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
I would love to see him in the gym, you know,
a little little seven minute packages before the game or something,
and him just kicking it in the gym with Tatum,
him just kicking it in the gym with s yea.
All right, what's your work through? Walk me through this,
like you said, walk and talk a little bit. What's
the mindset?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Look?

Speaker 6 (09:08):
Man?

Speaker 5 (09:08):
You know competition sometimes you Hey, last year, I'm saying,
let's say the Celtics get kicked out.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
I've been there before.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
It's when you lose and you didn't think you what's
that like when you know who knew the Knicks were
gonna beat you? Jason Tatum telling him about Jaylen Brown,
tell him about that, and then he goes through that.
I just think he can get that out of players,
that conversation that that maybe someone else couldn't get by
just being literally the greatest but like a player and
just you know, chopping it up.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Because here's the thing.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
When you nip mentioned something, I'm glad you brought Tom Brady,
Joe Montana, some of these Emma Smiths. While he was
playing Jordan and you were covering the league. Jordan was
actually a good interview. He was a good get after
the game. He would tell you what he thought. He
was smooth, he was articulate, he was honest. But he's
also so far removed from it.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
And I think with his status I do as a
billionaire and as that like, do you really want to
be on there with you? That's what makes you kick?

Speaker 5 (09:58):
Does Rob? Because he did have to, he's already tucked away.
But for him to come and do this, I think
he wanted you.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
I can't see him at the desk. I'm just being honest.
I can't see him at the desk. I could see
him doing a remote. Yeah, they're gonna break like that.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
I don't I don't.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
See him at the desk, sitting there with other people
and then talking about he's not gonna somebody.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
I just couldn't see that they're gonna use him, and
I think they should do cool.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
And that's why they didn't say he's an analyst. But
for him to get him, not to say that.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
To figuring it out, but to him the budget I
think is cool enough for him to even consider, Mike,
we want you back your prime your run was on NBC.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Right.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
People hear that music, they see you, they think of
that great era of basketball. They think Bob Costa is
calling his game and my Rashott, who's like one of
your best friends.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
All that era we think of you. Come on back.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
We're trying to bring back the league and continue to
help it rise. You're the guy from that era of
the nineties when we had our heyday. A is NBC,
NBA on NBC. Come on back. We don't even know
how we're gonna use you yet. We want to use
you in some cool ways that will highlight you at
your strength. And for him to budge and get off
that rocking chair with a cigar and some tequila or
some bourbon, that says a lot to me, Rob, because

(11:17):
he's sitting up comfy doing what he does, making one
point two one point five million dollars a year off
of shoes and he don't ever do anything. For him
to get out that rocking chair, to get away from
the golf clubs, that says a lot. And I think
he's gonna be all in, So I'm being cautiously optimistic
for him to be involved, just like the last dance
for him to be like, all right, I'm gonna give

(11:37):
you all access that I never give you about It
ended up being great.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
But that was that was different because that's his story
and it was his chance to get at people. I'm
just saying it has to be a specific role. It's
not like they could have easily said he's our new
Charles Barkley. NBC could have said that, but they know that,
get that, they know that's not his role. And that's
my main my point. Maybe he does it.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
He does a Isaiah Thomas Magic Johnson sitting down with
Isaiah Thomas in My Good.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Luck eight seven seven ninety n scrap it out?

Speaker 3 (12:10):
We finally here. Look can they heal up?

Speaker 7 (12:11):
Rob?

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Can they wrap it up?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Piece it up? Eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine? What are your expectations for Michael Jordan
next season?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
On NBC. We'll continue that conversation next with you.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
It is the Odd Couple on a Magic City Monday

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Who is Alex Uh? Sorry? This is again from Bill
Bilicheck's girlfriends playlist.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
A Fox Sports d oh my, Fox Sports Radio the
couple Rob Parker Kevin Washington on the Magic City Monday.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
As you can clearly see, it is definitely a Magic
City Monday. Yes, this is Gucci Maine Current, Yeah, and
Megan d. Sallion. Oh Gucci, sound a little younger here GoChi.

And Rob, you should know Gucci all the time you
spend at Lanta, Man. I think he was mister Magic
City back in the day.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Back in the day. Huh, you should know a little
bit about Gucci. Gucci, what are you saying?

Speaker 1 (14:38):
We got the call right there, eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox. He's just not talking about Michael Jordan
and his new gig. Let's go with Roscoe in San Francisco.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up Roscoe? What's up?

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Man?

Speaker 7 (14:54):
Hey?

Speaker 8 (14:54):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (14:56):
Roscoe?

Speaker 8 (14:58):
The popular chicken.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
In Uh we had and we know all about it.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
My good stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
It ain't hitting like I used to.

Speaker 8 (15:06):
Let me tell you about Mike. Mike is now season
as a fan for basketball. I think for a lot
you know, he played a lot of the guys for
a long time, so he wasn't detached in the game,
so he still had some you know, some personal you know,
rough for himself. I think he's starting over himself and

(15:28):
he sees the younger guys, so I really get around
a pub uh Anthony Edwards J. Murrett, Yeah, I get
all that.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I'm just saying I see him as like a sit
down kind of basketball conversation more than the exes and
o's and and and debate. I don't see him getting
on a set and debating or talking about UH topics
And then I'm.

Speaker 8 (15:52):
Agreeing with you because he has reached point to where that's.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Who he is.

Speaker 8 (15:56):
That's really who he is. You know, he's not really
an extra loves when it comes to talking to everybody else,
he's he's an excellent play but he's a conversationalist. So
I think he's ready now because he's probably moving the
game together, make a ton of money a last car.

Speaker 7 (16:15):
Road race.

Speaker 8 (16:17):
He's choose and he just wants to get back because
he knows this game made him who he is. So
I think it's just a maturnity.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Yeah, Roscolle, thank you for the call. I think eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox you can hop in
on this too. Conversations about MJ being announced NBC is
gonna use him in some contributing role. We don't know
exactly what. I do think there's a part of it
for him that's legacy. Like I've been away from the
game for so long. I see other guys from my
era that are contributing, that are helping or telling stories,

(16:47):
that are doing well in multitude of way.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
He's bigger than that. But he's way big okay, Like
he hasn't played in how many twenty years? He still
has a highest selling sneaker, Like, I'm just saying.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
I'm not questioning, Like, but I think where he is
is he's bigger than that as far as you want to, but.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
You also don't want to be. I mean, I'm and
I'm sure somebody talked to him and they figured it
out after probably convinced him with the Now that he's
sold his team, you know what I mean, he's out
of the NBA that way, Hey, this is a way
to kind of still But that's all I'm saying. I
just don't expect I'd be shocked if he's a big
part of their coverage.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
I think initially, you don't do it, and I don't
think he ever will, because I think he enjoys bourbon
and cigars and golfing and poker like meaning, I don't
think he's ever trying to do the work of or
we Gonna have you And in the postseason, you know
it's gonna be like forty five.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
No, no, no, I don't think it'll ever be that.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
But I do think there's something in him wanting, like, man,
I have a lot to offer these What's funny is
for Kobe to have been so isolated, we thought, and
just maniaca, which he was, but just and as he
as he you know, obviously his demise in early passing,
you start to hear stories of so much of him
giving back to young guys and doing this and going
to the gym. We didn't even know he went to
the gym with this person and worked them out, worked

(18:03):
them out. And I think Jordan wants a little bit
of that where I'm not just some you know, uh
what was it the guy who's tucked the way up
in the mountain somewhere, Like I think he wants to
connect a little bit. You're starting to see Alex Rodriguez
just pop up all over place, I know, being an owner,
but you thought he was a pariah from back baseball.

(18:23):
Now Alex Rodriguez is doing play by lay studio work
with Fox and he's an owner and he's popping up everywhere,
and got Barry Bonds is starting to pop up and
these you know, you're just seeing guys from certain eras
pop up. More speak more, do more, be more, And
I think there's a part of him that wants that
little bit like what Tom Brady we thought was and
you're never gonna hear from it.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Now tom Brady's everywhere, but.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Tom Brady, And I'm not knocking it that that contract
is ridiculous, Like, seriously, why wouldn't you be interested in that?
Michael joins a billionaire like he doesn't have to do it.
It ain't all about money. And then Mike has been
tom Brady just playing, Okay, so I get that Michael
Jordan's been away from the game. Seriously, I like, not
as a player, not as an owner, but as a

(19:08):
player for almost twenty years.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
And I think he loves the game, and I think
he wants to leave a little bit of me gave.
Todd was a part, Isaiah Thomas still very much involved,
Magic Johnson still very much involved, Larry Bird.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
We hear them, they see them, they do things, they
were coaching, they were just I think a part of
him was like man, guys for my era, guys for
my you know, my contemporaries. They've given part, They've left
a piece of them to the game legacy wise, and
I think a part of him wants a little bit
of that. Not not as much as them. I don't
want to be every day and it or all the
time or full time in it. But if I can

(19:42):
drop a little nugget here, do some little bit, like
we said, do some little one on one. Would show
him in some some sweats and a T shirt, working
with who's a young player, working with Anthony Edwards on
the mid range, showing him the art of that. Like
that'd be coolle sec to see MJ and Anthony Ewards
talk smack in the gym, working on the elbow, working
on talking through man.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
That would be amazing right there.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
So I think that's where that's the Kelvin Washington is
the executive producer of this show.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
That's how I would be doing it, Mike.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Yeah, I see, Mike.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
What a sit down interview once twice a month, like,
that's what I say, And I agree, that's that's that's
what that's what A contributed with.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Maybe you call one game just to do it, just
be a play, but color guy once a month as well,
Andy were done. He might be good at that, man,
believe it. I just don't see that he might be
good at that. Man, Mike, put the cigars down. You
got more cigars than any human being would need. You
play more golf than outside of Tacker Woods.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Come on, have a seat, have.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Seen see it?

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Will It'll be interesting to see what I see right now?

Speaker 5 (20:44):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (20:44):
If? If?

Speaker 5 (20:45):
If the Knicks mess around? Score is possession is either
tired or they take the lead in this game right now?

Speaker 1 (20:49):
My gosh?

Speaker 3 (20:50):
All right, well, let's get us caught up, Martin Martin.

Robin Kelvin on the Magic City Monday Joint now by
our man Rashaw Phillips, owner of Prestige Management Management Group
basketball analysts as well RP three Natural or X.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
What up?

Speaker 6 (21:18):
What's up doing?

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Doing a good game right now?

Speaker 6 (21:22):
Yeah? Absolutely, it's it's playoff time. That's that's what you expect.
It's much better than the Indian and the Cleveland series.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Oh man, some really bad ones. But in this case
with like this is why we're talking earlier in the show.
And if you're the Celtics or a Celtics fan, what's
scary is that the Knicks really hadn't played a great
game yet, you know what I mean? And and and
you got to be afraid that if they do that,
it could it could be the difference in whether you

(21:52):
win the series or not. Like all of a sudden,
this would look like this was going to be a blowout.
Now you've got a tight game here, Madison Square Guarden.
Knicks know what this means to them? If they win
this game, are you kidding? They'd be up three to
one with a chance to win right like, Like this
is what happened because the Celtics gave up those first
two games. How surprising has the the play been with

(22:14):
the umpire, with the umpires, with the officials allowing them
to play and be physical.

Speaker 6 (22:21):
I mean, this kind of takes me back to you know, Rob,
You've been covering the sport long before I was born,
so it's like you you've seen this. This is like
the old school kind of nineties eighties playoff kind of
situation where they're you know, allowing the players to be
a little bit more bumpy, right, a little bit more physical,
and I personally I actually like it. Oh yeah, we're

(22:44):
looking at the scores eighty five, eighty three right in
the eighties going into the fourth, Like, this is what
playoff basketball is about. It's not about being dirty, you know,
it's just allowing guys to be physical and not make
it look so much like pick up basketball, because I
feel like the NBA during the regular season, it's just

(23:05):
it's more like pick up basketball, and we're watching the
best players on earth play pick up basketball. And that's
why guys are the numbers are inflated because there's not
a lot of defensive effort going around. But in the playoffs,
guys are in their spots. Guys are are are making
the right defensive coverages there. I mean, you look at

(23:27):
how Sga is being defended by Denver, Like they're not
allowing him to just play one on one and just
dance on guys and hit fadeaways. They're like zoning them
up a little bit, allowing guys to get their their
their their elbow into his waist and not allow him
to be so freestyle with the ball. That's the basketball

(23:48):
that I grew up to, you know, admire and love
and I and we're getting a glimpse of that right
now as the Knicks take to lead.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
Yeah, this has been a good series too, for the
most part. We've had a couple of blowouts, as be expected,
but some good games in this series. Let's go one
we haven't really had a chance to talk about throughout
this day. Minnesota Golden State. Obviously some banks Steph banged up,
some can't contribute the way he would want to.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
But I inspect Minnesota to win this game out well.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Right, But I was gonna tell I'm going on the
other side of this ra shot. If you're Jimmy Butler,
this is what we brought you here for. At times
we're gonna need you them to be there with Steph,
but I mean at times we need you to be
that guy you can be. And also for Draymond, we
ain't say you gotta be Draymond of twenty eighteen, but
can you play better than you did this last game?
What do you expect from Warriors? They're gonna be Are

(24:34):
they gonna be able to fight through?

Speaker 9 (24:36):
No?

Speaker 1 (24:36):
No, no, no no.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
I think you're asking for too much. You can't asks
role players to be stars. You can't ask for that,
and I just don't see that happening. I feel like
Minnesota is gonna win this easily, especially if Steph doesn't
come back. I think Steph will make it competitive. This
series is over with Minnesota has won this. And this

(24:57):
is no slight to Jimmy Butler because I feel like
Jimmy Butler is a fantastic player. He's more of a
one B instead of a one A. And Draymond is
just a fantastic, complimentary player. He's one of the best
defensive players in the NBA. But when when it comes
to offense and being able to make timely baskets, you

(25:19):
can't count on Draymond to do that. The Warriors just
don't have enough bullets. It's not going to end well
for Warrior fans.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
No, I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
The NBA Draft lottery, surprise, surprise that Dallas Mavericks got
the first pick. All I'm saying, sticky envelopes up in there, Rashard,
we don't have any proof, and we could talk about
all we want and then I could give you other
examples where you say, well, you know, when be going
to the Spurs, is that really the best place for

(25:49):
you know, a star like that? But anyway, what are
you miss making that of Dallas? Obviously with the Luca
and everything that went on, and now they have a
you know, oh that just come on, Rob?

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Does it feel I just felt a little perfect if
I put my finger on it.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
What I need to wash it?

Speaker 3 (26:07):
That's all I'm asking.

Speaker 8 (26:12):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (26:12):
The NBA Draft lottery is always interesting. It goes back
to when the Knicks got the first pick and took
Patrick Ewing. It's it's it's entertainment, guys. You gotta love it.
I feel like the Dallas fans are we'll be back happy.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Oh they're at the store buying old jerseys as we speak.
Yeah kidding, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (26:34):
Like Cooper flag is a tremendous player. I've watched him
since a freshman in high school. He's a tremendous player.
Comes from fantastic family. His mom, Kelly, is awesome. Dallas
will will be a great spot for him. And I
know a lot of people are gonna throw this scenario
out there where you know, Dallas is gonna trade with

(26:55):
Milwaukee so they can get Gianness. But if I'm the
Dallas Maverick, I will stick with the number one pick
and take Cooper Flag and ride that out. I feel
like with Cooper, Anthony Davis and a roster that the
Mavericks have, I just feel like they Cooper Flag could
be a rookie playing for NBA title because I just

(27:16):
feel like the roster is that good and it's gonna
be exciting to see.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
I'm with you, I know they honest thing that's easy
I'm taking. I'm taking Cooper Flag yet a ride with that.
I got my guy for the next twelve fourteen years
and you can go to franchise long after Anthony Davis
is gone and all these other people.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
But but I heard some talk about maybe Joannis, what
about going to Houston with that team.

Speaker 6 (27:47):
They're interesting. Yeah, it's gonna it's gonna be interesting there.
I think Houston they're gonna have to give up some guys.
But Jannis is a needle mover. There's I mean, wherever
Yanna's goes, he's going to improve that franchise. We all
know that. I just kind of I think I would

(28:08):
like Kevin Durant morit Houston, and I would like Gianni's.
It's gonna be interesting. I don't know. I don't know
what the draft picks are getting to as far as
the Phoenix Suns, because they have to do something. I
just see Phoenix and maybe Milwaukee doing something. I don't know,
it's gonna be weird. But now I don't I don't

(28:29):
really like Giannis in Houston.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Okay, like a shooting I mean that's kind of what
their issue is. No shooters.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
Yeah, Like they're just not a shooting team. And I
think Janni's obviously he changes your franchise because he's just
such a down heel dominant force. But I feel like
Houston has a really good UH roster set up. They
just need to add some shooting. I don't think there
need I don't think they need a roster overhaul. Where

(28:59):
like they got to get to trade four dudes to
Milwaukee to get Jannis. I think that's kind of counterproductive.
They got some good pieces, they just need some shooting.
I feel like Kevin Durant has proven to be more
of a plug and play superstar where he can he
can play off pen downs and flares and play out

(29:20):
of the mid post and not distract your other actions.
I feel like Giannis, you have to change your entire
ideology as far as offensively to fit him. So that's
why I don't think Houston's a good place. First.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
If I'm Milwaukee, I'm making the move. I mean, I
feel like we got a championship out of it. But
right with Milwaukee, let's reload. They don't have any pigs,
they don't have any young players. I'm like, dude, thank you, right.
I mean, if you're Milwaukee, you're happy.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
If I'm Milwaukee, if we're in the front office, rob
at Milwaukee guys and we're there, it's easy. I'm like, hey, man,
get rid of get rid of ya immediately, Like what
what dollar Bill said in that in that movie.

Speaker 5 (30:07):
Immediately immediately, no doubt, you know what he would say,
dollar Bill? Players still but the Magic City Monday. That
fits right, the fits into the show. Yeah, real quick man,
what's up? What do you think when you're looking at uh,
when you're looking at yacht Yannis? But Yo Kisch, we
were talking about these numbers, thirty three percent the last
three games. Uh, you're talking about five turnovers? Do you

(30:31):
need a Jamal's sighting to say, hey, I can be
you're pipping more consistently. What do you make of how
the Denver Nuggets can write the ship if they could
have had a chance to go up three to one.

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Yeah, I think it's over for the Nuggets as well.

Speaker 7 (30:44):
Here.

Speaker 6 (30:45):
I feel like the regular season, there's there's there's there's
two seasons in the NBA, the regular season, in the playoffs,
the regular season. Yo kich is looking the triple double,
triple double, triple double. The games to easy, the games
su easy and all of a sudden, okay, see locks
down and starts to strap in and play defense. These
are the statistics of what you see at Jokic is

(31:07):
what the statistics would be if the NBA played eighty
two games of really strapping in. That's all you're seeing.

Speaker 10 (31:16):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (31:17):
It's not like, oh, he's having a bad series or
he's having a down series. This is what Yokis looks
like when you apply defense.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Well, we haven't had defense for a lot of people.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
I mean, like for you to stop playing it. I mean,
you know what I mean. And you talked about I've.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Been covering the league since nineteen eighty seven. Yeah, and
now you can't touch anybody. It's easy to score. All
the European players have said it's way easier to score
in the NBA in any place they've.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
Played, absolutely because the European style. And I can attest
to this as I played in Europe. The European style
is more like college, where there's no defensive three seconds.
They allow you to be more physical. So in the NBA,
the rules are easy. It's it's it's entertainment. Fans want
to see dunks and three pointers. So the NBA is

(32:08):
going to make sure that the consumer is happy and
the consumer wants to see points. But when the playoffs come,
this is about basketball. This is about strategic So hey, look,
all right, we gave you eighty two games of Yokis
getting this triple doubles. But now dudes got to lock
in because they teams want to win.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
But he did win a championship in an unbelievable playoff
run a couple of years ago, and it just it
just seemed like this year they're letting people play a
little rougher that I remember.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
I'm just out of it.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
I just think consistent. I don't have any issue, but
I hear what you're saying the consumer.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
During the regular year, they're trying to keep the ratings
of everybody entertained and then do that.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Rash Man, thank you as always, appreciate.

Speaker 6 (32:51):
You, appreciate you, guys, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
No doubt.

Speaker 5 (32:53):

Rod Parker, Kelvin Washington on the Magic City Monday Fox
Sports Radio. Thanks for listening to you, boys need we
got a great game. We got to mix in who
Wants to Smoke? And the Grand Pool Ba. I think
I can make a la.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
Like the Grandpoopa from New York rapper Grandpoop, Grandpool Ball.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Yeah that was it.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Uh, he got the name from the Flintstone.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
Yeah, Grandpoopa. He's got a great song.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
I like, all right, Alex, before we go, put out
a Grandpooba the Grand Pool Bah. I think it's called
two thousand bablu. Stop it, you guys say that from
when Steph Curry comes back. Uh, next season, hold on
to it for next season. I'm so I'm jendered out.
They just so let me stop saying that.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Right now? All right, it's time now for the last call.

Speaker 10 (34:15):
This is the last car. It's last call, last call
time on the odd.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Who we are? I think Alex will have us do
it so long that we run out of time. We're
gonna be here past.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Do we do that one day? Alex?

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Try it like the whole way through. All Right, who
we got Kevin in Denver? You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio and you are the last call.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Kevin?

Speaker 8 (34:52):
All right?

Speaker 9 (34:53):
Got all right, guys. So I don't know who the
last guest that you guys just had on was. I
just caught the end of it, Shot Phillips. I don't
know if he's watched a single Nuggets game all year.
I mean, has he watched what Jokics has done this
entire year, averaging a triple double? And then he wants
to say, oh, now.

Speaker 7 (35:11):
That they're playing quote unquote defense in the playoffs, he's
not looking good the guy. He's still nearly averaging a
triple double and he's got an elbow injury on top
of it. So we can't sit here as the national
media and call out Nicole Jokics for not being a
real player in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Now, well, what did I bring What did I bring up?

Speaker 1 (35:33):
When we talked, he talked about defenses, that he won
a championship and had an unbelievable run in the postseason.
So we can't just act like it's just like if
this is what they do in the postseason, like he's
going to be ineffective. I think, listen, he's the best
player in the NBA. Thank you.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
That's all.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
That was my point.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
He's done it before.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
But I think but where I would agree with Rashad
is and this goes with a lot of players right
now who are struggling or consistent right now more so
than they normally. I mean, look at the Celtics. They
run through you throughout the regular season. Okay, see run
through ran through everybody. The Cleveland Cavaliers ran through the
entire league to the tune of a franchise record.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
To think it was sixty four wins.

Speaker 5 (36:14):
What he's saying, and I believe, is when you slow
things down, when I can strategize, simply for you, our
entire defense, our entire day is dedicated slowing down. Not
that we're going to stop a yo kij sga ye.
But my point is if they do, they're doing this now.
They didn't do that two years ago. Is what I'm saying.
But I'm saying this is the most and this is
what Rashan said, This is what Antonio Daniel said. They

(36:36):
haven't seen the NBA allowed to be this physical in years.
So if guys are allowed to be fit. Physical guys
are banging them around. And now to mention to your point,
if the guy runs off and runs a championship, well
that's now the guy that we gotta stop. It's like
you in baseball. If we see this person having amazing
they won twenty five games side, you're like, all right, now,

(36:56):
we know this is one of those guys who we
got to.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Okay, he's one of or some hitter emerges out the blue,
but they're not out of the series. It's two to
two and you're playing the number one seed. It would
have been amazing to be up three to one. But
the Thunder we're playing for the.

Speaker 5 (37:10):
Season yesterday and it's i the best record in the NBA,
So it's not like they're playing scribs, but the number
one of those, it's one of those games.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
I just think you can't ignore.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
Dude is only averaging twenty one is last year in
the biggest part is shooting thirty three percent. And I'm
not making this up or a shot. This is what
Jokic said. They're playing me great, they're being physical strategy.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
In the first game of the series, he had forty two,
so it's not like he can't score. He's struggling the
last three game, and I'm giving you that. If you
told me the whole series he couldn't get off, then
I would go, oh my god, they have cooked.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
They figured it out. They gotta They figured out the
Rubik's Q.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
You know what I'm saying. But he did have forty two.
It wasn't like a month ago, but it was.

Speaker 5 (37:58):
Two piece, and they would say, ah, we figured out
a better way, or at least we're gonna try this
different strategy and it's working. You got to give him
a little success, I mean a little credit for that.
But again, he is the best player in the NBA.
You expected to figure it. That's why I told you.
I want, you know, waiting. I'm waiting for his counter move.
All right, two three, four games in a row, they've
been doing this to me. I'm gonna counter with this.

(38:20):
You know what am I gonna do? Or is it okay?
I'm gonna suck up all the attention. Jamal Murray, you
go crazy, whatever it is, whatever Denver decides to. By
the way, if Jason Tatum makes this free throw here,
we'll have a tie game in this uh Knicks in
Boston game. With how much six minutes left in the
fourth quarter tie game. This is a great one right here.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
Man.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon is coming up next.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
I never miss your radio show.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
I never hear it, so I never miss it. Did
you hear that
