it's gonna be Lebron James right right. No, I'm gonna

leave him completely off the list.

But he's the all time leading scorer in the NBA.

great rebounder for his position. He's obviously a tremendous passer.
Like what is not to like about his game? And
that's I think it boils down to that rob like

like they're being undervalued. Do you think that the running
backs today are being undervalued or has the game the

Oh, here's what's interesting, and it's surprising because there's so
many smart people in the NFL that it's gotten to
this point. They've gotten so comfortable playing the position instead
of paying the player that they overpaid for other positions
and then underpaid for one. Like just because the quarterback
contract is up, that doesn't mean that Derek Carr and

Kirk Cousins to see at the same pay point as
Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

And I'm gonna say this too, Sean, the CBA, I
mean you were in that league. My god, the owners
have owned the NFL Players Association. Somebody must have a
Swiss Bank account because because that franchise tag thing is
the worst things It's the worst thing ever seen.

How is that? How was that negotiated?

So here's what's interesting. It's it's common knowledge that the
historically the weakest players union and professional sports in this
country has been the NFL. One. We are the one
group that has not been capable of going going to
work strike. Everybody tried to do it. It's been replacement players.
They found ways to still have a product. Since twenty thirteen,
(24:28):
the only franchise tag that has not increased, it's actually decreased,
is the running back.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
One is decreases twenty thirteen.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
That tells you all.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Three though I think it was like tier ten point eight,
ten point nine million in twenty thirteen. Now I think
it's sits at ten point three or four. Wow. Play
that is incredible, right, And the only leverage that guys
like say Kuan and Josh have is Okay, if you
don't play dirty, then we're gonna play dirt dirty. There's
(25:01):
a loophole in the franchise tag situation. They can sit
out the first ten weeks of the year, report the
Monday after week ten, and then still make about a
little over four million dollars in pro rated money. So
at least they didn't waste a whole year financially.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Right, But they can hurt the team by not being
there for ten weeks.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
Right, and then I'm still gonna make some money and
says you didn't feel like I was that valuable. When
I get back, I'm gonna tell you I need a
week and a half to get in shape, and then
I'm gonna tell you that my hamstrings a little sore.
I don't think I can perform, and you gotta play
dirty because they playing dirty. That's the only leverage those
guys have.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
But they also looking at it like I think with
the running back by committee, all of that stuff has
devalued the position as well.
Speaker 3 (25:54):

I think what's happening is it's a combination of the
owners and able to control the franchise tag by basically saying,
if we don't sign any running back, big deal, we
suppressed that market. Secondly, it's the players union agreeing to
suppress the draft market. Remember these numbers used to be

sky high because there was always an acceleration in a
money from year to year in the draft A stat Yeah,
that counted towards the franchise tag. So when you add
in the fact that the rookies are on very team
friendly deals the first four five years, that's how we've
(26:36):
gotten to the point we're at now. And it's unfortunate.
And I don't think that every running back should be paid,
just like I don't think every quarterback should be paid.
So I think the NFL has a smart enough and
start paying the player way more than just paying the position.

Barkley and what he means to the Giants, right, Sean,
I mean.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Because because listen to this, right, why would anybody, why
would any player want to be like Quona. Quan has
done everything else to be the best representative of the
Giants brand possible on and off the field. Even when
he was injured, he still was the support system. He's
never gotten in any trouble he's been outstanding at what
he's asked to do on the field, and when it's

trying to reward him for all of his loyalty, due
diligence and excellence, you balk. Yeah, as you mentioned, you
reward Daniel not a not on Daniel Jones. No, it's
not reward You reward Daniel Jones off of a fifteen
touchdown year with one hundred plus million guaranteed dollars. Like,
I feel bad for say.

Quon and and you know what, Daniel Jones had two
games Sean Whad threw over three hundred yards, both against
the Minnesota Vikings, terrible defense. That's the only teams that
he threw over to you, I mean to reward him
and leave Daniel and leave sa Quon in the call.

If you're a teammate and you look at how they
treated this guy, how could you feel good about it?

You know, they didn't want to give him an extension.
Yet he's gonna get a lot more carries, which means
a lot more wear and tear without Ezekiel Elliott being there.
So if he gets injured again, then guess what's gonna
happen at the end of the year. Well, we can't
pay you now because you've been hurt in back to
back years.

Why do you let's move on to the Browns. Deshaun Watson.
Do you think we're gonna see a bounce back year
from him? Or is he never gonna be what he
was in Houston again?
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Well, I mean you gotta be optimistic. I mean, Deshawn's
a unique situation. I don't even consider last year of
failure because if he hadn't played in two and a
half years. So they're not many people you can just
pull out of that profession, you know, especially for professional sports,
and then they come right by. I mean, Jordan's a
rare bird, you know, go away play baseball or whatever
that was about, and come back and not miss a beat.

So he's now allowed to be in the building the
entire offseason, be in the building, training camp, participating in everything.
He got some rust off, I would fully anticipate even
if he's not prime to Shaun Watson, he's still a
top half of the league quarterback.

Not all eyes on that, because we did see the
rust over the last couple of years and him not
playing and him changing. How about I'm down on Buffalo.

How a lot of players that face both of them
put Kobe ahead of them, right, I think Rob, And again,
clearly we don't agree with this just because of where

their Zoom meeting to talk about you know, they feel
like they're being undervalued. Do you think that the running
backs today are being undervalued or has the game the
way it's changed.

Just put them in a tough situation.

Oh, here's what's interesting, and it's surprising because there's so
many smart people in the NFL that it's gotten to
this point. They've gotten so comfortable playing the position instead
of paying the player that they overpaid for other positions
and then underpaid for one. Like just because the quarterback
contract is up, that doesn't mean that Derek Carr and

Kirk Cousins to see at the same pay point as
Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

Or Daniel Jones.

Daniel Jones got forty six million dollars or Daniel Jones.

plus million, and then you tell saw he's not worth

So here's what's interesting. It's it's common knowledge that the
historically the weakest players union and professional sports in this
country has been the NFL. One. We are the one
group that has not been capable of going going to
work strike. Everybody tried to do it. It's been replacement players.
They found ways to still have a product. Since twenty thirteen,
(24:28):
the only franchise tag that has not increased, it's actually decreased,
is the running back.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
One is decreases twenty thirteen.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
That tells you all.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Three though I think it was like tier ten point eight,
ten point nine million in twenty thirteen. Now I think
it's sits at ten point three or four. Wow. Play
that is incredible, right, And the only leverage that guys
like say Kuan and Josh have is Okay, if you
don't play dirty, then we're gonna play dirt dirty. There's
(25:01):
a loophole in the franchise tag situation. They can sit
out the first ten weeks of the year, report the
Monday after week ten, and then still make about a
little over four million dollars in pro rated money. So
at least they didn't waste a whole year financially.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Right, But they can hurt the team by not being
there for ten weeks.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
Right, and then I'm still gonna make some money and
says you didn't feel like I was that valuable. When
I get back, I'm gonna tell you I need a
week and a half to get in shape, and then
I'm gonna tell you that my hamstrings a little sore.
I don't think I can perform, and you gotta play
dirty because they playing dirty. That's the only leverage those
guys have.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
But they also looking at it like I think with
the running back by committee, all of that stuff has
devalued the position as well.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Well.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
I think what's happening is it's a combination of the
owners and able to control the franchise tag by basically saying,
if we don't sign any running back, big deal, we
suppressed that market. Secondly, it's the players union agreeing to
suppress the draft market. Remember these numbers used to be
(26:16):
sky high because there was always an acceleration in a
money from year to year in the draft A stat Yeah,
that counted towards the franchise tag. So when you add
in the fact that the rookies are on very team
friendly deals the first four five years, that's how we've
(26:36):
gotten to the point we're at now. And it's unfortunate.
And I don't think that every running back should be paid,
just like I don't think every quarterback should be paid.
So I think the NFL has a smart enough and
start paying the player way more than just paying the position.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Barkley and what he means to the Giants, right, Sean,
I mean.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Because because listen to this, right, why would anybody, why
would any player want to be like Quona. Quan has
done everything else to be the best representative of the
Giants brand possible on and off the field. Even when
he was injured, he still was the support system. He's
never gotten in any trouble he's been outstanding at what
he's asked to do on the field, and when it's
(27:19):
trying to reward him for all of his loyalty, due
diligence and excellence, you balk. Yeah, as you mentioned, you
reward Daniel not a not on Daniel Jones. No, it's
not reward You reward Daniel Jones off of a fifteen
touchdown year with one hundred plus million guaranteed dollars. Like,
I feel bad for say.

Quon and and you know what, Daniel Jones had two
games Sean Whad threw over three hundred yards, both against
the Minnesota Vikings, terrible defense. That's the only teams that
he threw over to you, I mean to reward him
and leave Daniel and leave sa Quon in the call.

I think it's bad. It's and you're right.

If you're a teammate and you look at how they
treated this guy, how could you feel good about it?

One incentive? Do I have to play while I'm injured?
What incentive do I have to restructure my contract so
that we can sign you know some more? Hell, it's
a bad situation. I really feel bad for guys like
Austin Eckler is in the same boat. Like I really
feel bad for those guys. Tony Pollard gotta be nervous.

You know, they didn't want to give him an extension.
Yet he's gonna get a lot more carries, which means
a lot more wear and tear without Ezekiel Elliott being there.
So if he gets injured again, then guess what's gonna
happen at the end of the year. Well, we can't
pay you now because you've been hurt in back to
back years.

Why do you let's move on to the Browns. Deshaun Watson.
Do you think we're gonna see a bounce back year
from him? Or is he never gonna be what he
was in Houston again?
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Well, I mean you gotta be optimistic. I mean, Deshawn's
a unique situation. I don't even consider last year of
failure because if he hadn't played in two and a
half years. So they're not many people you can just
pull out of that profession, you know, especially for professional sports,
and then they come right by. I mean, Jordan's a
rare bird, you know, go away play baseball or whatever
that was about, and come back and not miss a beat.

So he's now allowed to be in the building the
entire offseason, be in the building, training camp, participating in everything.
He got some rust off, I would fully anticipate even
if he's not prime to Shaun Watson, he's still a
top half of the league quarterback.

That's gonna be interesting.

Not all eyes on that, because we did see the
rust over the last couple of years and him not
playing and him changing. How about I'm down on Buffalo.

then you know they seem like they got some locker
room stuff as well.

offseason to learn that defense, to really ingratiate himself and
make a bigger impact. I love the rookie running back
Devin a Chain from Texas A and M. He may
be faster than to rekill guys. Keep him on your radar.
Jaylen Waddell, I'm I'm saying to it go stay healthy.
I like Miami to win that division. Speaking directly to Buffalo,

they lost all their leadership when Brian Daboon went to
the Giants. I mean, you remember Ken Dorsey having an
aneurysm in the press box, and now all of a sudden,
Stefan Diggs is upset with everybody. And you know, Josh
Talent is a super talent, but he's not doesn't seem
to be a super like leadership, vocal kind of guy.
So I think there's a void there in Buffalo. We'll

see does it manifest itself at the end of the day.
I think Buffalo's Buffalo's results when he's off around the
health of von Miller. When von Miller's healthy, that defense
is completely different than when he isn't available.
