Let's get this, punies, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
It is The Odd Couple. I'm Chrisy's Rob. We are
live from the tire Rack dot com studios and we're
all excited about the NCAA Men's Championship game that'll start
in about twenty minutes. Purdue and Ukon you con the
big favorite, all right. Shortly after our show, The Odd
(00:52):
Couple Podcasts goes up, and if you miss any of
today's show, just check out the pod search Odd Couple
wherever you get your podcast and also follow, rate and

it right after we get off the air, Rob, we
got Funky Cold Mark Medina coming up at the bottom
(01:15):
of the hour, so obviously you guys want to stay
tuned for that, But for now, Rob, let's go back
to the Caitlin Clark. She is obviously the superstar of
women's college basketball in this hour, she is the most
talked about player in women's basketball period, WNBA or college
(01:40):
and for now, at least, Rob, the WNBA players that
are getting shine are the ones who are talking about her.
Their comments about her are while we're talking about them,
and I'm talking about Diana Tarazi and Sue Bird Rob.
So they had one of those you know simulcasts during
championship game where they were on screen, you know, like
(02:02):
Peyton Manning and Eli Manning do for Monday night football games,
Thursday night football, whatever it is. And so they were
talking during the game about Clark and Diana Tarazi said
something that called a little little heat here it.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Is reality is coming. Okay.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
You know there's levels to this thing, and that's just life.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
We all went through it.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
And then you see it on the NBA side, and
you're gonna see it on this side where you look
superhuman playing against eighteen year olds, but you're gonna come
with some grown women that have been playing professional basket
for a long time. Not saying that it's not gonna
translate because when you're great at what you do. You're
just gonna get better, but there is gonna be a
transition period where you're gonna have to give yourself some
grace as a rookie. You know, it might take a
little bit longer for some people.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I mean, Tazi Rob stepped into the NBA or a
WNBA and averaged seventeen points her rookie year, and she's
averaged nineteen for a career, so she was pretty much
he was Rookie of the Year, finished third in the
MVP voting.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
You know.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
So I look, I'm gonna be honest, and I don't
watch much WNBA, so maybe I'm wrong. I think Caitlyn
Clark gonna step into the WNBA and go berserk. I
think she's gonna put up big numbers in the WNBA,
just like she does in women's college basketball.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I mean, but I'm not saying she'll be that dominant.
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Maybe I'm ignorant of the WNBA and I don't watch
it very often, so okay, that's possible. But I think
she's going to get busy in the WNBA and Rob
most not all, but so many of the great ones
in the NBA, and you know, you can.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Take out the high school guys. Obviously, there's a.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
You know, a learning curve there from going high school
to the pros. Even the soul Lebron still played well
as a rookie average twenty. But Jordan Bird Magic obviously,
the big guys Kareem, Elijah and all those guys rop
they all stepped in.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
She's not a one and done. She's coming in after
four years of college. I think she's ready. So you know,
we'll see, but I think she's gonna do her thing
in college.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
This is the issue.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
I have.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Shame on them, Chris, to like Rosie, Yeah, shame on
them to like talk down to her and about what
to expect in the WNBA, because that's not the moment
for that. She's still in college. She shouldn't be talking
about what is in store when this woman has just
had a major impact on women's college basketball. They sound
(04:56):
like Debbie Downers. They sound jealous, That's what they sound like.
I have no idea why that's the topic of conversation.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Now.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
She hasn't been drafted, Chris, She's not playing in the
w NBA yet. I'm not saying you can't get there,
but my god, really is that is that the moment
to talk about?
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Oh wait, does you get to the w NBA.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Hey, Tarassi, you know he got eighteen in the first quarter?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Well wait does he wait?
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Right?
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, that's literally about that.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Shut that stuff down.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
Is that the right place, Chris my being from, it's
not the right place. And Tarassi and them, they said, well,
you guys did so well and all the stuff you did,
y'all averaged six thousand fans twenty twenty eight years later,
and you got no TV ratings all this stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Come on, stop it. Well, Rob, you're getting at the
heart of the matter, which is it just been. There's
been a lot of hate for Caitlyn Clark out.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
There, coming from women, the men that loved her, the
Lebron's tweeting, you know, like they giving her love, were
giving her props.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I'm sorry, how can you not give her props?
Speaker 6 (06:16):
The girl is bad and you know why men are
attracted to her. Her style of game, Chris, the logo threes,
all that candles, yes, the assist, the phenomenal pass yes,
like that stuff. And all we hear is these women
(06:36):
who are accomplished nobody's taking away your jump and trophy.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
They're jealous, crad.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yeah, they're jealous that they didn't draw this level of attention.
And I guess that's competitiveness. But and let's just keep
it real. If we were in their shoes, we might
feel the same Chris jealousy. But I think we know
better then. I think I know I would just say
(07:04):
the right thing.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I want to say that.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
I would not be out there spouting my jealousy. I
feel like, you know, I'm not in that.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
We wait, we already have that.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
It's human in the field jealousy, but we have Why
are they saying it?
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Why aren't they supporting her?
Speaker 6 (07:18):
But we have we have a similar thing that we
could point to Chris and our and our profession in
our lives. All right, we were all on First Take,
stephen A, you me right.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
We were all there.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
We were Me and you have been on the only
three have been on all three shows. And I'm talking
about Cole Pizza when we first and ten was right, Uh,
first first Take and undisputed, Me and you and Skip
are the only three have been in all of Even
stephen A wasn't on Colpe.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Okayndisputed, right.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
But my point is we don't go out and bash
stephen A because he is at the top of the profession.
Do We're not bashing Shannon journalist exactly. You know what,
he didn't cover any sports.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
What's he talking? You're right, this is what I'm saying.
Why would you do it?
Speaker 7 (08:09):
Right?
Speaker 3 (08:10):
We were in the same position.
Speaker 6 (08:11):
We could feel a little bit and a look why
they getting all this attention? Why is why is stephen
A the guy at ESPN and we were working there
and why didn't we get No.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I'm just saying, like, I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Oh, you're right, And I don't even feel jealous.
Speaker 6 (08:24):
I'm not jealous. We're happy for those guys. We know
what work those guys put in. We've we worked with
stephen A. We've seen him put in all the work.
I'm happy that he's.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
At the top. Yep, yep, yep. So I don't know
why they can't be happy for her.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
But you agree with me, it's just jealous. It's jealous
and it's not I mean, obviously people are saying this.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Is she better than Dana to RISEI who knows? You know,
I don't know, I don't. I'm not an expert on
the women's game. Don't like I you know, covered the
men's game. But it's like you said, Rob, her style
of play, this.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Their racial element.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Okay, probably little there, and that's in most parts of
American society. But Trosi did is white, Sue Bird is white.
They didn't get this kind of attention. Brianna Stewart, you know.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
What they did.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Style?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
It really is her, the way she plays the logo
threes to handle. And I'm gonna say this, anybody that
really played basketball at any significant level knows the way
you kind guarded her. And props to Gino Arima because
that was a great game plan. I mean, it wasn't
a box in one, but basically they had the one player.
(09:40):
Her whole job was just to be in Caitlyn Clark's
grill and then in the second half or Yukon kind
of did I'm not Yukon. South Carolina kind of did
the same thing, and Rob she had to work. That
is so difficult when you have somebody that's really not
(10:00):
even paying attention to the rest of the what's hot.
She is just focused on you and denying you the
ball and staying in your face.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
That is so difficult.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
And to go through that for forty minutes and then
and she, I mean points she have against you Khan?
Rob g looked at was it forty? Is that when
she had? Because she had forty one against Lsu? I
THINKU but something you know, something crazy? And I mean
that is so difficult and challenging. But Rob, to me,
it seems like like you talk about women not supporting
(10:35):
the w Chris, you know this is somewhat related to that.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
They're the ones hating on her. And it doesn't make
any sense.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
I mean, like really, and every time I ask women
to have they gone to a game?
Speaker 3 (10:46):
None of them have gone to a game.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
And let me give you this for Tarassi at twenty
one to nine and seven against against Yu.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
Khon Caitlin drew the eighteen point nine right yesterday Chris
Tarassi's three National Championship games to fifteen point five. Combined
those three and here's the Las Vegas Aces, who had
the highest attendance in the in the WNBA, Chris nine
and nine thousand, five hundred per game. The average in
(11:13):
the league is six thousand. And they already moved their
first game against Caitlyn Clark to the T Mobile Arena
not what they usually play, you know, why so that
they could sell twenty thousand tickets. So they I mean,
why are they bashing her?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
They should be excited because that could mean more money
for all of them, for all the women. Finally, not
just more attention. And you see it out like Joss
it is and it's not just them. Letnette Woodard not
great all time. Let hear what she says. She say
she said she didn't break my that's whose Division one
NCAA scoring record Clark broke.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
She said she didn't break my record.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
I'm paraphrasing, but basically because Lynnette Woodard used the men's
ball and they didn't have the repoint line when she played.
And that's that's a fact, and we get that. But
that's like Kareem saying Lebron didn't break my record. Should
when I played, we didn't have a three point line
for the first half of my career and not that
(12:14):
he would have been shooting it, but if he came
up today, he'd be shooting it, you know. And so
but that's not what you do, and that's not what
you men. The games evolved, you shouldn't be saying that now,
like that's not your place, and now.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
She's apologizing for it.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
She should because it sounds like sourd Why would you
say that, like she couldn't she can only play with
the ball that's out there that they're playing with.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Now, it was good that they switched the ball. Obviously
women's hands are smaller, so that was good. And I
get what would have said. It's not like it's that's
an interesting point, but she still broke your record. It
just it just I mean, you can go look at
all of the sports, rob and they will be the same.
Chris Jayden used to play seventeen games a year and
(13:00):
fl so when somebody breaks a record, or you're gonna say, well,
we only played sixteen or we only.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
Played fourteen, you know what we know. We were talking
about Hank Aaron. They tried to discredit when he passed
Babe Ruth. You know why, Chris, When Babe Ruth played,
there was only one hundred and fifty four games and it.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Was at pase to one sixty two.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
So people were saying, well, his record shouldn't count because
he played in one hundred and sixty two games, and
Babe Ruth played in one hundred and fifty four like
that they.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Wouldn't the career record wouldn't even matter, right, But that's
what they were trying to use to discredit them.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
And Rob You know too, as we've interviewed women and
on our show or other shows and about or even
just watching like ESPN watching the coverage, it's interesting because whenever,
not all the time, but a lot of times when
the interviewer has brought up Caitlyn Clark, you see the
(13:54):
female being interviewed, whether she's an ex usually X player,
they bring up oh yeah, they quickly comment about her
quickly and then go to but there's so many other
great players out there. You got and you got and
it's like that's where the jealousy comes out and they're
(14:15):
trying to say it's not just her, and we get it,
there are other great players out there, but she is
the one that is taking your game to.
Speaker 6 (14:24):
A different left. And that's what we're talking about. We're
not talking about everybody, Like why do we have to
do that? Like like this is a moment we understand
that they are other great players. When Juju's in the
National Championship Game and the TV ratings are eighteen, then.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
We'll talk about juju.
Speaker 6 (14:42):
I mean, of course, like I just sold, Like, don't
you get there is interesting?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Rob, It's all is just jealousy. I don't see it
coming from the men. Obviously men aren't gonna be jealous
of her, No, but you know the women. I mean,
like you said, it's it's like crabs and a bear
her mentality, Like why y'all hating? And that's why that's
another reason just in and of itself, it was classy.
(15:10):
But that's another reason I give don Staley credit because she's,
you know, a legend in the game herself, not only
coaching but playing.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
I'm sure she knows a lot of these women that
have been.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Ripping, you know, or at least sutherly being critical of
Clark or not giving her all the love she should get,
and she's probably had conversations where people have brought that
up to her. And yet in the midst of all that,
she still went out of her way to show her love.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
And that was her moment and she didn't have to.
She diferently didn't have to.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
She didn't have to. If she hadn't said a thing,
nobody would have been like Oh, she was hating. You know,
she didn't have to do that. So another reason to
give props to Don Staley eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, what are your thoughts? I mean, Rob and
I felt like we saw a lot of haters women
women hate on Caitlyn Clark. The men have been giving
(16:02):
her crazy you know, love and all that. But why
do y'all think that the women are hating on her
the way they are? And like I said, she gonna
wreck the WNBA trust?
Speaker 3 (16:14):
All right? A couple eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
You'll turn away.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
In Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup
in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports
Radio dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Wh're theydd couple live from Thetirack dot com studios. You're
turned away? In eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
we see a lot of hate on the part of
women players at Caitlin Clark. You gouys see it too,
your thoughts?
Speaker 3 (16:48):
All right, let's do it.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
Alan and Colorado, you're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
What's up? Alan?
Speaker 8 (16:56):
Hey, guys, thank you for taking the call real quick,
so it was brought to my attention that the NBA
was kind of a joke of the league before Magic
and Bird got to it. Right, that rivalry sparked it,
that made the NBA what it is today. Arguably, you can,
I mean within reason, right, that rivalry. That's what Caitlin Clark.
I mean, we're talking about Caitlin Clark every single day
(17:19):
since the start of the tournament. We're talking about Angel Reese.
That could be like the sparks of w NB needs
for like revenue for ticket sales for things like this.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
And I don't get but deep yeah I don't. I
don't get it either, Allen. I'm dead serious, Like I
get it. It's just jumping Yeah, Chris, You're right. I
just like, like they should look at this. We just
talked about it. Uh to ROSSI, her three championships didn't
even get the number, uh that Caitlin Clarks got for
(17:50):
one game for the one championship game, you know, and
that and yesterday, Chris and she should look at this
and go, maybe this is a chance for women's basketball
to finally grow and be you know what I mean, Like,
how could you look at this and and have bad
words for her?
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Or not embrace her like no one.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
In fairness, I'll throw this out, Okay, if there was
a men's I mean it's hard because the NBA is
so big and so much bigger than the WNBA. But
if there was a men's college player that was just
getting incredible degrees of love. We kind of saw a
rob in the NBA when Michael Jordan's you know, he
(18:32):
stepped into the NBA and got all that love, remember
as a rookie, and you did have some people hating
on you in the league, right, And so I don't know.
I mean, I'm not saying men would be exempt to
it if they were in a similar situation, you know,
but it's still not right.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
Yeah, it just I hear your point. But this seems
like even and I'm talking about the WA. She just
she's in college, She's not in the w NBA.
Speaker 7 (18:58):
Right.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
That took what I don't understand? Can we em I
used to tell people all the time, before.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
We uh rebuild, right, rite a story, rebuilding the house, Chris,
can we cover the fire first? Right?
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Like the fire has to come first.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
So let's talk about what she's done here in this moment,
and we'll worry about that when she's drafted and when
she gets to the you know what I mean, on
whether how what the difference will be.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
That's all.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
It just seems like, well, we can't talk about her
not being good in college basketball, so let's let's let's
project that she won't be that good in the pros.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
That's what you're doing.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
I thought was interesting, Like really, right, I think to
say she's not gonna do all that in w and again,
I'm not saying she's gonna.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Average thirty two right right away.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
It's crazy, Josh in Arizona. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Josh?
Speaker 9 (19:49):
Appreciate you having me on, Yes, sir, what I don't
know what's wrong with these ladies. Like I they had
thirty years or however long to come up with an
acceptable product, with a product that needed to be behind
a barn and shot.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
This thing.
Speaker 9 (20:10):
What they had is absolutely atrocious, and everybody knows that
they can't even fill out the arenas for championship game.
Like my thing with this is this, Caitlin's an amazing player.
We're finally talking about women's college basketball, I mean women's
basketball because of her, And then we gotta get these
comments from see I don't even know her name. We
(20:32):
gotta get these comments from her, and.
Speaker 8 (20:38):
Okay, there it goes.
Speaker 9 (20:40):
Didn't Maya Moore in Kanna's Parking. It took them like
what five years to crack up multiple m vps and
multiple championships. How are you gonna say this girl is
gonna Oh, she's gotta she gotta rude awaken it? Are
you serious? It seems like anybody who is half a
superstar at the college level for women's basketball.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
They go, yeah, most of them step right in, right,
That's that's true. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like, I
just don't see it.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
She she's gonna be struggling like mightily in the I.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
They tried to get Joe Nama to comment on her struggle.
She's gonna be struggle ling in the w n B A.
Can we squeeze in one more?
Speaker 9 (21:18):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Raphael? In Cincinnati, only couple of Fox sportuated what's up?
Speaker 7 (21:25):
What's up? Bros? How you doing? Real quick happy? Major
League Baseball history today, fifty years ago today? I know
you like that? What happened?
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Oh yeah, we played it and everything we talked about early.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
One, real quick enjoyed the game. I like Caitlyn a lot,
but Bruce had I think you said earlier it may
have a little bit of something to do with race.
Speaker 10 (21:47):
It's a lot of it.
Speaker 7 (21:48):
It's basically all race. Because of that, you.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Say, all right, because Brianna Stewart won four championships, I
think something I've said that for the last two weeks
We've been talking about. But she's different, and I can't
say if she was black playing like she plays, I
can't say.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
She wouldn't be getting close to this much love.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Because again, like Rob said to Rozi, superb right, they're white,
Briana Clark, they're all right, and they didn't get this
kind of love, right, Chris, I mean that's that's that's
exhibit A. Yeah, that's exhibit that's true. I mean she did,
they didn't get this type of attention.
Speaker 2 (22:29):

Speaker 1 (22:41):
All right, our next guest has theme music. He's a
Fox Sports Radio NBA insider, and he's Funky Mark Funky
Cole Medina.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (22:53):
Matter.
Speaker 10 (22:54):
Oh yeah, Rob, good to talk with you. You know
what everyone's saying. The coolest thing that happened today was
able to see the solar eclipse. I respectfully disagree. Is
this intro music and this upcoming?
Speaker 6 (23:07):
I will say what I did today in my baseball
writing class, which was taking place during the solar eclipse.
We had a guest, Bob Nightingale from USA.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Today.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
As soon as he was done, I allowed the kids
to go outside, uh for ten minutes to watch the
solar eclips through the glasses. You know, yes, that was
part of it. Do not look at it, Chris, did
you go out and look at it?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
We went out during the break in first things first.
By then it was we didn't see much. Okay, Yeah,
we saw a little white part in the sky. Yeah,
I could see it with the glasses. It was something,
all right?
Speaker 10 (23:44):
All right?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Well, Mark, let's get to the NBA off and Bronnie
James coming out into the draft or at least, you know,
gonna dip his toe in there and see if he
wants to stay in the draft.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
But what are you talking?
Speaker 1 (23:57):
If you talk to people around the league, what are
you hearing about this situation?
Speaker 10 (24:02):
Yeah? What I'm hearing is that they're treating this whole
situation the same way Bronni James is. Between treating the
situation where you know, all options are on the table.
I think on Bronnie's end, he's trying to get clarity
whether he wants to get in the NBA draft based
on what teams like him, what their feedback is. You know,
we obviously can't ignore the elephant in the room of
(24:24):
how this influences his dad's whereabouts. But I think on
the other side of the coin with teams, you know,
they want to get a sense of, you know, what
his intentions are. Number one, if they do get him,
is it just about having to also sign up for
his father or does he want to be his own man?
And those are all unanswered questions when we connect the dots.
(24:48):
It seems like this has been almost preordained because Lebron's
put out in the universe for a few years now,
but he has since walked it back a little bit,
saying that, you know, maybe Bronni doesn't want this as well,
and so it's gonna be wild how this story plays out,
because there's so many different layers to it, and I
think a lot of it depends on Bronny, but also
(25:09):
I think a lot of it depends on how the
Lakers perform and how Lebron looks at his future.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
I think this is a layout and I'm gonna say,
you're on the show. He's gonna wind up with the Lakers,
And I just we could sit here and talk about
all this and and they want to see, dude, you
average four point eight points in college?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
You know, like, what what what? What measuring stick?
Speaker 6 (25:30):
Are you asking the other NBA teams Mark to tell you, Oh, yeah,
we're gonna take you in the first round because we
think you're a lottery pick. This is this has been
set up. They want to make Lebron happy. They want
him to finish his career here. I would bet everything,
I bet a million dollars that he's gonna wind up
with the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Where else is he going?
Speaker 10 (25:49):
But think about this, Rob Even though yeah, Lebron has
played GM, has had a.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Lot of everything he's wanted, they've given him.
Speaker 10 (25:57):
But what I was gonna say is they haven't done
that ever since the Russell Westbrook trade. They have since
ignored and gone against what he's wanted. Right, he wanted
them to make a huge trade deadline move in the
off season to get Kyrie Irving. They brought Russell Westbrook
back then. They did make moves leaning in the trade deadline,
(26:18):
but when Kyrie Irving was available again last summer, they
decided not to do that. They didn't make any major
moves last trade deadline either. So there is a pattern
here where they aren't necessarily listening to little Broll And
that's why I you know, I'm keeping an open mind
with us.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I'm watching as I'm sure you are. To mark the
NCAA title game. Zach Edy, the seven to fourth center
for Purdue.
Speaker 8 (26:42):
I don't know how.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
I mean, he must have ten at least ten points
right now, maybe twelve. He you know, he's nice inside
near the bask He's got some offensive post.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Moves and things.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
What are you hearing as far as you know his
prospects for the NBA.
Speaker 10 (26:58):
Draft, Yeah, I think lately there's been a lot more
of an embracing of him being in the NBA.
Speaker 7 (27:03):
Now.
Speaker 10 (27:03):
I don't think it's gone far enough that he's lottery
pick material, but certainly late first round. And I think that,
you know, while we view some of the potential weakness
as Ooh, he's a plotting big man, and how can
a mat fit in the NBA. He has all the
other skills you'd want in a big man of the
traditional post up game, but also the outside shooting, the passing,
(27:24):
And I think what we have to keep in mind is,
you know a lot of people talk about, you know,
the way the NBA game is played with small ball, etc.
But I think it's more about what Mike D'Antonio would
often struss that's skill ball. So yeah, he's going to
have to be able to be able to move a
little bit more and not be and be more mobile.
(27:45):
But I think as far as his skill set goes,
it can be transferable. But I'm not about to say
he's a lottery pick. I think it's about, Hey, he
can be a good late first round or early second
round selection.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
That'll be said.
Speaker 6 (27:59):
I the Clippers have turned it around back to winning,
winning some good games, close games. At the end, where
are the Clippers? What's the vibe going into the playoffs?
Season ends on Sunday. Are they in a good place
or still in a bad place?
Speaker 10 (28:18):
Well, I think that there's two sides of the coin,
as it always is with the Clippers. You know, when
he talks to the Clippers, you know, and I have
with Tylou and the Vita Zubats and some of the
other guys, they do feel like they're in a good place.
They really feel like they've turned a corner. Defensively, they're
not letting their guard down as much as they were
during that recent malays. The ball move and aggressiveness is back.
(28:38):
You've seen some good performances from Paul George and Russell Westbrook,
a little bit of James Harden, but the allfant room
is Kawhi Leonard. Like he is already out for tomorrow's
game against the Phoenix Suns. He has right knee inflammation.
And while I have pressed Tywoo, I asked him about
what his levels concern is with this injury. He said
he doesn't have any levels, And I think it is
(29:00):
telling that they've changed the language of what his injury was.
At first it was rightney's soreness and now it's rightney inflammation.
And while I'm not a doctor, it does sound like
those terms mean a lot different. So, yeah, we don't
have a timetable when he's coming back, other than the
Clippers saying he's day to day and they're optimistic and
(29:22):
they're not concerned. But you know, the Clippers have a
track record being cagy about injuries, so we have to
see about this one.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Yeah, and unfortunately it wouldn't be surprising if it is.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
More so, I just can't even get over it, Like,
let's go to the bucks.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
I mean, my goodness, they've now lost four straight, six
of their last seven.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
They're in free fall again. What are people around the
league saying it.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Almost it's got to be too soon for this, But man,
it looks like they're not.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Doc doesn't have their ear or something. But what do
I mean?
Speaker 10 (30:01):
Clearly, guys, from what Yannas said a few months or
you know, last month, and what Doc said recently, like
they got to really get their act together with the
equipment manager and the traveling staff. If they do that, yeah,
I mean that's.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
Can you imagine that that? That's what you're talking about?
Hear you all this lateness season about it travel.
Speaker 10 (30:21):
Staff and what else is absurd is I understood the
beginning the season they weren't going to be the same
defensive team without Drew Holliday, Like he's been one of
my favorite defenders over the over the years in the league.
But last time I checked, Giannis and brook Lopez were
supposed to be good defenders. That's not to say that
(30:43):
completely covers up things perimeter wise, but front court it
should have been fine. They did get some you know,
reinforcements at the trade deadline and Pat Patrick Beverly, And
the other thing is they were supposed to make that
up with what they produced on offense, most notably with
Davian Loward and Giannis with this unstoppable pick and roll duo.
So I think it's at the point, guys that when
(31:07):
they show you who they are, believe them. And this
isn't a team that can say, you know what, when
the playoffs start, we're a different team because they don't
have that history. They're not coming off of championship season,
They're not coming off of a few years of having
the same group together. So I'm ringing the alarm bells
as well, and nothing, not even you know, better work
(31:28):
from the traveling staff will do enough to fix this.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
That's our man, Funky Cole, Mark Medina, great stuff as always, brother.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Enjoyed a game.
Speaker 10 (31:37):
I appreciate you guys a lot more.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
A couple coming your way. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
All right, it's the couple.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Chris Brucesard, Rob Parker live from the tire Raq dot
com studios. Rob yukon twenty three perdue twenty three, six
point fifty left in the first quarter, Zach Edy carrying
the boiler Makers fourteen points three rebounds, Rob and man.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Edie looks really good. He is not just a plotter.
He can move.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
He's i mean, he's not getting out on the floor,
you know, guarding at the three point line or anything
like that. But inside he's got legitimate post moves and skills.
There's certainly a place for him in the league, and
it just is the team willing to play that way
with the big there, you know, on the block most
of the time because that's where he plays, and you
(32:46):
can play off of him because he can score well
enough to force double teams and things.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
But it'll be interesting.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
But tonight he's doing his thing, and he's going against
a seven foot two guy who's you know, highly.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Thought of at uh u.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Khn in Donovan Klingen and he's giving it to him.
So good game so far.
Speaker 6 (33:06):
Twenty three, twenty three, and that's six fifty in the
first half because you know they don't.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Play quarters anymore. Is that what I said?
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Quarter?
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Yeah? First half? Okay, yeah, I was thinking the women's game,
you know, but uh yeah. But it's a close game.
It is.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
It's back and forth. It's we got a ball game.
We could get this and watch a good one in
the second half. Chris would be great.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Rob G's got a take on this with oh you know,
rob G. This he doesn't get.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
He doesn't get many takes, so he gets excited when
he gets one. You know, he gets one about once
every two weeks or so, and so he Chris, I.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Gotta take, I gotta take. Let me, let me, Chris, Chris, please,
I gotta take.
Speaker 5 (33:45):
Uh huh. This is gonna be the one that gets
aggregated like my Baker Mayfield taking.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
That's right, that's right. This is last start ever in
the NFL.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
Now, this is in fairness, I had this one before
the game started. But this game, to me, Purdue versus
Youn is eerily similar to yesterday's Iowa South Carolina, where
the best player is clearly Caitlin Clark. The best player
is clearly Zach Edy in this game, you can tell
by watching it, But the team's yukon is bigger other
(34:14):
than Needy, more athletic, they shoot it better there. They
just look like the better team, just like South Carolina did.
So the best player is gonna come off strong because
they are the best player. But eventually, as these things
tend to do, the more talented team is going to
drag this into the deep waters and eventually.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Pull away late.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
That's what that's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
You don't fight Chris, all right, Look, I'm beating dugger
in the bracket chapter?
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Are you keeping track of them?
Speaker 5 (34:46):
I look at it occasionally see if I have a
chance to win, which I don't anymore.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
But where's everybody at? Where's Rob, Doug?
Speaker 8 (34:52):
Aaron?
Speaker 5 (34:53):
I mean, Doug's surprisingly near the bottom. If the fact
that I'm beating him says a lot, right, Aaron's gonna
win the whole thing, So really shout out the errent Tooris.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Yeah, well yeah, are you beating me?
Speaker 10 (35:04):
Or Rob?
Speaker 5 (35:05):
I think you are beating me and I'm slightly beating Rob.
Now crazy, what you have sounds about when you have
when you and I both have gorpates Yukon. So the
fact that I think changes.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Everything, Yeah, because I don't even know what.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
And of course Aaron Torres was going to be winning
because he picked Yukon right right.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Like he has the last forty years.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
Now here's another question for you guys. All right, So
in our our employee pool, one of the finalists for
the top two who could win the prize is our boss.
Don Martin. Shouldn't be eligible to win the company prize.
I feel like he shouldn't.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
And you know what he should do.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
He should give it once he wins it absolutely gives
it to the best show that's on between four and
seven ppacific. That's what I should be eligible, though, It's
like you get rid of me though, I mean, have
we different from any other employees?
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, but it's not like this is rigged.
Speaker 7 (36:03):
You know.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
I'm you want to say, make it a certain level
of money you can't be Yes, examine.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
How many times did Steve want Steve every times if
you won the bracket challenge once that well, I think
he wanted once, but he was always in the mix
like every year, like you thought he was gonna win,
and then thankfully he didn't because he'd have more TVs
than he could count it.
Speaker 6 (36:22):
All right, so all I need to know is the
year that he won and had to be a h
a Los Angeles school that won the championship?
Speaker 3 (36:28):
No with Steve? Is it Michael on? No Carolina?
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Is that okay? Very nice? I would have thought you picked, like,
you know, one of the locals. That's all real left.
You're an l A guy.
Speaker 5 (36:40):
I'm not stupid.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
What what he said to hear it? These are picks.
You make a pick. Okay, No, it's not saying I agree.
You're supposed to pick with your head, not your home.
What what are you thinking about?
Speaker 5 (36:57):
Rob's the MLB bro, He's like, I only got to
pick players St John's.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Were watching this game when we get off. There too
many white guys on the court. Stop he's got a
brand now, MLB bro? Right, not at all? A minute? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:15):
All right, well it is the odd couple wrapping up
and look the good news, guys.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
We got a good game. We got a good game here,
so hopefully it'll stay that way.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Hopefully, Rob G I i'd love to see Purdue win,
but you I feel they there's.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
This feeling that they're just kind of hanging around, hanging
on for dear life. And we'll see if they if
you com pulls away, all right, we out y'all push
