Speaker 1 (00:37):
Grub on mb Bro's podcast. It's those classic kids with
Davy Grub on MLB bros Podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
What's up, Everybody. I'm David Grubb and it's.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Time for another edition of classic Hits on the MLB
bro Show Podcast The Mixtape.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Kim Griffy Junior.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Is one of the greatest players of all time, and
that's an undeniable fact. However, the focus on Junior is
taken away from the fantastic career that his pops, King
Griffy Senior put together over nineteen seasons in the majors,
and baseball wasn't even his best sport. But with Junior
already on the way, Griffy signed with the Cincinnati Reds
after being taken in the twenty ninth round of the

(01:17):
nineteen sixty nine Baseball Draft. He broke into the Bigs
in nineteen seventy three, batting three eighty four and twenty
five games. That would be the first nine seasons above
three hundred for Griffy. He won back to back World
Series titles as part of the Big Red Machine in
nineteen seventy five and seventy six, and in nineteen seventy six,
Griffy made his first All Star appearance. He also finished

(01:38):
second to bellow bro Bill Madlock for the National League
batting title, posting a three thirty six average.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
He would also finish in the top ten in MVP
voting that season.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Though the Reds wouldn't reach the mountaintop again, Griffy would
play in three All Star.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Games between nineteen seventy six and nineteen eighty.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
The Reds would trade him to the Yankees after the
nineteen eighty one season, beginning his career as a consistent
hitting journeyman out. He even made his way back to
Cincy for a couple of seasons late in the decade
before they sent him to Seattle, where.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
He would join his son and make history.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
King Grivy Senior would finish his career with more than
twenty one hundred hits in a two ninety six batting average,
numbers most players would kill four. And while he didn't
possess the power of the panache that his son utilized
to become a global superstar, Kim Grivy Senior set the
template for Junior to follow.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
And as Rob Parker would say, he's a bro.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
You need to know.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
I'm David Grubb and this has been classic hits. Now
back to the mix. Our Last Howl with Ryan.

Speaker 6 (02:39):
Ryan Hult interviewed MLB bro Glenn braz who played years
in MLB from nineteen eighty three to nineteen ninety two.
He finished with the career average of two sixty with
seventy homers and three hundred and twenty RBI, and he
capped his career by playing a role in helping the
Cincinnati Reds when the World Series in nineteen ninety Over

(03:00):
the Jumping Off Open as he and Brian's talked about
his early life and what he's done since he retired
from baseball.

Speaker 7 (03:10):
After a long career playing pro ball. How's life been
for You've been been good, you know, I've actually endeavored
to do a few things after my career when I
got done playing, I you know, you said earlier, I
played the ball here at MLB and uh and then
I went over to Japan and played after that for
a little while. And when I got done there, came

(03:31):
home and mainly was just a family man. I did
some actually endeavored to do some acting and uh so
did a you know, I got myself an acting coach
and did some uh you know, did some commercials and
actually was on I don't know if you remembered the
show that was on HBO called R List. It was

(03:53):
about sports as Yeah, uh so I did that show
down there with with Bruce Smith and a few of
it was it was actually pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I actually, you know, tried to do that for a
few years.

Speaker 7 (04:05):
And then didn't didn't really didn't want to do that.
And then I actually from there went and got a
real estate license and did real estate for for a
very short time because my timing was was absolutely absolutely impeccable,
because I got my license right around two thousand and
six seven eight, which was when the big crash happened

(04:26):
that didn't didn't didn't turn out so well. And then
since then I've just been kind of just been doing
the odds and end things and mainly just you know,
raising my kids, just trying to be the best father
I could.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
Be to them.

Speaker 7 (04:40):
And I uh more recently just started that, you know,
because health and fitnesses has been really a passion of
mine since I got done playing baseball. So I went
and got myself you know, certain did some personal training,
worked at a big box gym for a little while,
and now I just been doing main He's just I

(05:01):
just kind of just do it now often on the
side as just something to keep myself busy. It's just
been a passion of mind from you know, since I
got done playing baseball. I've I've always continued with my training.
That's been the one consistent thing, and so that's what
I've been kind of doing right now. Just it's just

(05:22):
enough to keep me busy, but not to keep me
too busy. And so yeah, but that's kind of been
evolution since since I I've done play in ball. Let
me ask our audience back Sammordino, California, what was the
typical daylight and rack household? Wow, my goodness. So I
was born raised by my parents the rags and I

(05:48):
had eleven siblings, seven sisters. I had four brothers.

Speaker 8 (05:52):
I was number.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
Eleven of the of the twelve, so I'm always always
down at the bottom. Days in the childs were pretty
pretty crazy and wild. It was just always a lot
of a lot of fun activities and stuff like that going.
My parents were were believers and Christians, so they had
us in church, you know, every Sunday and a couple
of times during the week. So I grew up as

(06:15):
a believer and continued at to this day. But you know,
it was just it was just always a lot of
fun because you know, just we we were. We were
always just just laughing and enjoying and you know, and
having a lot of fun. We didn't grow up I
didn't grow.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Up with a lot my parents.

Speaker 7 (06:33):
My dad was a so sold provider, my mom was
a stay home mom, and so we we actually did
move a lot. I moved a lot as a child.
So I went to let's see, I want to say
I went to three different elementary schools. I think I
went to one middle school and two different high schools.

(06:54):
So I don't have I wouldn't say that I have
like lifelong friends from my childhood, but I've got a
lot of different friendships that I've made along the way,
you know, from from those days. So it's, you know,
it's still was kind of an interesting upbringing in that sense.

Speaker 9 (07:10):
You know.

Speaker 7 (07:10):
Then, even though we didn't have a lot, my parents
always and I think that was one of their superpowers
was to make us believe that we you know, that
we never laughed or anything. And I really believe that.
I feel like, even though we didn't have a lot,
who it.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
Is you already know what the twenty three World Series
Texas range the World Market Senior our Grand and the
Senior our Own. They played Tommy Fan now it's timas
they got don't want the fan, the o own Shitty
Bang Bang. The blows are like a chain gang. But
we all do the.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Same thing affecting the slang. Slang came from the sand
lots mostly didn't have much. Pops made the sacrifice long
befo the coal for skull mills.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
He Brian, he's got a goone bok go and walk
his hand and now them it's like the cone.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Crust eku Wan. It pitches and it's often to slow much.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
What we do is to get you based go with
the soul touch two diversities as what the stifle the
Black Blues guys is little scats by the side door
and on basis saying is that they killers will die
for I'm not dating out. We don't do Brady size more.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Release next Race, first franchise History, Who's it gonna be?
In twenty twenty four, Young.

Speaker 8 (08:18):
Crop top shut.

Speaker 9 (08:21):
Bleave bomb, second Dutch shot for Rae Times Welcome to
the show chair.

Speaker 8 (08:30):
This brod floated on the scene, blasting brow bombs into
the night sky and making web gems that made hitters cry,
what do it your boy? Charles Jonga And this is
take that with MLB bro dot com. Take that from
mlbbro dot com.

Speaker 9 (08:52):
Oh my gods, that would be on the kai ending
up to three times makes base story.

Speaker 8 (09:05):
Red's outfielder Reef Times, was called up on July eighth
and announced his presence with authority by blasting five broad
bombs over his first six games.

Speaker 10 (09:18):
And it's been amazing, uh seeing all the fans, I mean,
walking in the clubhouse my first day felt like home.

Speaker 8 (09:26):
I mean, the.

Speaker 10 (09:27):
Teammates greeted me with open arms. It seemed like they
all have my back from the from the minute I
walked in there and it's just been awesome experience.

Speaker 8 (09:37):
Times is another broke with a huge upside and has
impressed his teammates with his bat and glove.

Speaker 11 (09:45):
Obviously, what he did that first week was historical, and
obviously what he brought to us was offensive power, played
some really good defense. So that was just a glimpse
of what he can do for us or hopefully the
rest of his you know career.

Speaker 8 (10:06):
Three signs doesn't hit, however, his bet has cooled down
a bit, only one hit in his last twelve of
bets at the time of this recording, but has the
fortitude to recover from this mini slump.

Speaker 10 (10:22):
I think the biggest thing is just trying to stay
in the President. There's a lot of up and down
on this game. Like you said, I mean, you can't
you can't get too high when you're doing well, you
can't get too low when you're when you're struggling. You
kind of just stay even killed. And my biggest thing
is just staying in the President. Take ab by AB
day by day, and once the day's over, you flush
it onto the next decads. You know you're gonna get
four more AB's the next set.

Speaker 8 (10:44):
The Red sid four games back of the final National
League wildcard spot, and management needs to find a way
to keep Hinds in the lineup because this kid has
something special and he can become a pillar of the
next edition of the Big Red Machine. For mlbbro dot com,

(11:04):
I'm Charles Jonger.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
It's sponsored by mlbbro because you need to know.

Speaker 12 (11:12):
Davis and Davis sounds like a law firm, doesn't it.
In this case, we're talking about a pair of guys
who got it done on the diamond.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
There's some similarities.

Speaker 12 (11:22):
And if you listen to this segment before you know
that I'm talking about another two guys who played for
a very long time. The first one, Yeah, you guessed it,
Eric Davis. But how about a Davis who played even
longer than him, with better numbers, Chili Davis.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Eric, as we know he was.

Speaker 12 (11:41):
More talked about a little bit more flash here that
Chili was always there, consistent. Both guys delivered from multiple
teams in their career, Chili for nineteen seasons and Eric
Davis for seventeen years.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Let's see what these bros did.

Speaker 12 (11:57):
Chili Davis, he made his big league debut nineteen eighty
one for the San Francisco Giants, and like so many players,
it took him a bit to get into the swing
of things. But nineteen eighty four was his year. He
made the National League All Star Team and guess where
the contest was played.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Candlestick Park.

Speaker 12 (12:16):
Always a thrill when you get to play that type
of game in your own stadium. But remember this date.
A few weeks later, August second, nineteen eighty four, Giants
at Reds the Old Riverfront Stadium. Davis goes four for four,
but there was a rookie in the Reds dugout that
day named Eric Davis. He delivered a pin hit single.

(12:38):
Kind of cool, isn't it. Two guys named Davis a
combined five for five in the game. Ad He would
get himself untracked in nineteen eighty seven with a mammoth
season thirty seven home runs.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
One hundred runs batted end.

Speaker 12 (12:53):
He scored one hundred and twenty runs fifty stolen bases
that season two did you know he had eight the
year before. This is where the getting was good for
ed three straight Gold Gloves, two All Star Games, two
Silver Slug Awards. Davis was the guy, but consistency California

(13:15):
consistency for Chile. Another All Star appearance in nineteen eighty
six with the Giants, and he led the American League
in sacrifice flies with the Angels in nineteen eighty eight.
New decade started off right for Eric Davis. He helped
the Cincinnati red sweep the Oakland Days in the nineteen
ninety World Series, but an injury in Game four of

(13:37):
that series that was the start of a transition for
the rest of his career Chile. On the other hand,
he was very steady the back part of his career,
nineteen ninety one World Series champ with the Minnesota Twins.
Another All Star game in that strike shortened nineteen ninety
four season, and he went out on top, winning back
to back World Series with the Yankees in nineteen ninety

(13:59):
eight nineteen ninety nine. He took full advantage of being
a DH Eric Davis. He would move on to the Dodgers, Tigers,
and even another stint with the Reds.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
His last really good.

Speaker 12 (14:11):
Season nineteen ninety eight with the Baltimore Orioles. He hit
three twenty seven twenty eight home runs in eighty nine
runs batted in His career would end with the same
team that Chile started with and that's the San Francisco
Giants in two thousand and one. You gotta give it
up to these brothers. Chili Davis is on the Giants
Hall of Fame. Eric Davis is in the Reds Hall

(14:33):
of Fame. These two were never teammates, but shout out
to Fremont High School in Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
They had a helping hand and develop them them both.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Ryan, keep firing, you're really the best bet.

Speaker 13 (14:52):
Let's go. Rash Nauer back at you. Thirty and ten
on a year. Let's get it. Our first matchup takes
us Milwaukee Wisconsin America Family Field on Friday, Milwaukee versus
the Miami Marlins Bros. Jazz Chisholm Junior out of late
four hits in his last eleven year, backs five rbuys
two stolen bases. Friday, we have Freddy Peralto on.

Speaker 7 (15:13):
The bump for the Brewers.

Speaker 13 (15:14):
He looked great last week against the Twins, only giving
up two hits with eight k's over seven innings. I
think that trend continues the second half for Freddy. Looked
for him to control the game from the bump.

Speaker 14 (15:25):
William Petrez leads the.

Speaker 13 (15:26):
Lineup, gives them the run security they need as the Brewers.

Speaker 14 (15:29):
Roll at home.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Ryan keep Firing.

Speaker 13 (15:32):
Our next matchup takes us to the Bay Area, San Francisco,
California Oracle Park on Saturday, where we have the San
Francisco Giants versus the Colorado Rockies.

Speaker 14 (15:42):
Bros.

Speaker 13 (15:43):
Lamont Wade Junior helps lead the way as Blake Snail
starts to round back into shape, starting to look like
that old Cy Young from last season. He looked good
last week against the Dodgers. I think he takes care
of business at home, get the Giants.

Speaker 14 (15:57):
Back on track. Ryan keep firing.

Speaker 13 (16:00):
Last night took takes us to the Saint Petersburg, Florida, Trumpa,
Canada Field on Sunday, where we have the Cincinnati Reds
versus Kampa Bay Rays. Bro Hunter Green hitched outstanding last
week in Atlanta, going seven strong on giving up two hits.
Another tough role game, but Hunter has been having a
statement year in his career, coming off and making an

(16:21):
All Star game. I think he leads the Reds to
a victory on Sunday against the Rays.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Ryan keep firing, You're really the best bet.

Speaker 13 (16:30):
Been rational.

Speaker 8 (16:31):
Now back to the mix.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
Rachel Hill keeps us up on the lifestyles of the
rich and famous MLB bros.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
And now she goes first.

Speaker 14 (16:44):
And third with Cole Tucker, Anaheim Angels.

Speaker 15 (16:47):
Here's an update on the story that we've been following
very closely at mlbbro dot com. It is a love
story that started during the pandemic when Vanessa Hudgens dropped
into Cold Tucker's DM. They met on a weekly Zoo
meditation group. During the lockdown in twenty twenty, Vanessa said
if she wants something, she goes after it, and she
had a thing for the baseball star with curly hair.

(17:08):
Cole was down with Vanessa sliding and says DM, and
he started chatting it up with her and then they
started dating because the eight year agecap didn't bother him.
They dated for two years and made it official in
December of twenty twenty three.

Speaker 14 (17:21):
Hudgins announced her pregnancy.

Speaker 15 (17:22):
And marsh By Strong off her baby bump while she
walked the red carpet at the annual Academy Award. The
actor and singer posed for photographers while cradling her bomb.

Speaker 14 (17:31):
She was pregnant, along with her high.

Speaker 15 (17:33):
School musical alum Ashley Tisdale, her former BFF. On the
fourth of July, Vanessa announced that she hain't given birth
to their baby, Ginger unknown after TMZ published a photo
of them leaving the hospital with Vanessa holding the baby
being pushed in a wheelchair on July third, which is
Cole Tucker's birthday. She was upset that the pictures got published,
and she took to Instagram.

Speaker 14 (17:53):
We're disappointed that our family's.

Speaker 15 (17:55):
Privacy was disrespected and exploited during the very special time
due to the greed of a law wins camera feeding
the media.

Speaker 14 (18:02):
She wrote on July fourth.

Speaker 15 (18:03):
Despite all of that, Mom, dad and baby are happy
and healthy.

Speaker 14 (18:07):
She added, congrats to the new family on their bundle
of joy.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
War Wins ops Era plus. He's Sebastian Ball and he
is the genius. The numbers man for mlbbro dot Com.

Speaker 16 (18:23):
Aaron Judge has been one of the most consistently spectacular
hitters in recent memory, and at the ripe age of
thirty two, he has shown no signs of slowing down.
For a player of his physical stature, he would think
his age was slowing down, but really he seems to
get better with every year in the big leagues. Since
Judge's first full season in twenty seventeen. His lowest weighted

(18:46):
runs creative plus was one forty one in twenty nineteen.
That means that Judge's worst season at the plate is
roughly equivalent to current Vladimir Guerrero Junior, who is a
top twenty producer at the plate this season in twenty
twenty four, Judge is proving that he is still the
best hitter in all of baseball and one of the
most dominant hitters in the last twenty years. Since Barry

(19:09):
Bonds's record breaking two thirty three way to runs creative
plus season in two thousand and four, only two hitters
have surpassed a two hundred mark in a full season.
Those two hitters are twenty twenty two Errand Judge at
two nine and twenty twenty four Erron Judge at two six.
Along with his elite production, his batted ball numbers are

(19:29):
still out of this world, with his four to sixty
eight expected weighted on base average being the highest ever
recorded since thatcast began tracking in twenty fifteen. With a
one point one Ultimate Zone rating and zero defensive run saved,
his defense is still more than acceptable even when bouncing
around between the three outfield positions this season. With the

(19:52):
Yankees finding themselves in an unexpected position at this point
in the season, another ten war season from Judge could
be what they need to cement themselves as a strong
World Series contender when it matters.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
Most Sebastian Bab has all the numbers, all the metrics,
and he's bringing it to you. So all rides for
Aaron Judge and those eye popping numbers.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
The seven Deadly Venoms of War Pros MNB Bros Coming
to Los Angeles.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
In New York and Kansas, four starters will be in
the full harder giving love to the baseball thugs.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
The four Fathers will walk the war runs.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
On the roots, bulls and bars swatters, the base swipers,
dominique nighters.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Aaron Judge, Julie shots at the time.

Speaker 7 (20:35):
Of the lease.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
He hit another one.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
He hit another one, Judge, he hit another one.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
It's so fifty fifty five, so fond to be number
but ninety nine.

Speaker 6 (20:46):
Head another one.

Speaker 7 (20:47):
He had another one.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
The pullman, the blastshol Judge, he said, another one. It
could be so fone to be live to be number
ninety nine. Here's another one.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Full rods. Bob's spandim because the plane has landed ben
strike while being then it's it's been the figures like
a Sammo.

Speaker 6 (21:08):
That's just number ninety nine, one short of one hundred,
infinite in the fan's mind, Robama to the bleachers or
beat stuff the easter had another one, he hit another one,
just had another one. It's the freaking freaking fine so
fond of be nothing but ninety nine?

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Heard another one?

Speaker 6 (21:30):
He hit another one to put in the blast your
justice head another Bard, it could be so fond to
be live to be number ninety nine.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Here's another one. Here's another one. There's another one. There's
another one, said another one. It's a freaking freaking finds
the fine so fine to be another ninety nine. Here's
another one. Here another one, there's another one. Just said
another one.

Speaker 17 (21:56):
The blast to hit another one, so fine to be
live number ninety nine.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
And the one Chake.

Speaker 14 (22:21):
Leave john Field Darren over Crabs.

Speaker 15 (22:28):
There's this walk on for run.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yankees come back to win it? Oh man, old man?

Speaker 18 (22:36):
What by judge?

Speaker 6 (22:44):
Yeah, let's see what the fun is cooking out around
the league.

Speaker 19 (22:50):
Well, the Minnesota Twins win als intro with all the
hype and buds around the Cleveland Guardians, which MLB dot
Com found rankers past. The Guardians rate number two in
the league, which which is not surprised. Cleveland has the
best record in the America League with the sixty one
and forty records. The Guardians are a good team with
very good players. First baseman Josh Natalers having a career year,
playing in his first All Star Game, notch eighty four hits,

(23:13):
fifty five runs, twenty two home runs, seventy two RBABA
to two thirty seven bad average on the season RBI
leader for first baseman, but the Twins only five games
behind with the fifty six and forty five record. They're
still in the hunt at the hosting two division leaders
this week number six rank Milwaukee Brewers then number one
ranked Philadelphia Phillies. The Twins got the better of the Phillies,

(23:34):
winning two out of three games in their series. The
Twins have a lot to prove with the fuel Bybran
Bucks is playing amazing defensively, tied for first and fielding
percentage for center fielders, and has been on the tear
in his last thirty games thirty eight hits, twenty six runs,
eight home runs, twenty four ur Yava the three to
fifty eight bad average.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
The team is in the pack.

Speaker 19 (23:54):
This week ends a great division series Minnesota Twins heading
out to Detroit to take on the tie.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
The Twins can start separating from the rest.

Speaker 19 (24:02):
The Tigers are a good team of players to their competition,
has great wins versus great teams this season, and plays
well at home. But if the Twins keep stacking wins,
they'll be right there. As We'll be serving it up
all season long. Right here on mob Bros Podcast The Mixtay,
I'm Devide cook, stay.

Speaker 14 (24:20):
Hungry all seasons. Young Kris. He had to tell you
about the bro Bombers. He had to tell you about low.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Drama, Young Kris.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Let him know who's on your top MLB Bros.

Speaker 14 (24:35):
What's up, everybody? This is Young Krit and this is mine.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
We count on the biggest plays for mob Bros over
the past seven days. This week, come getting number five.
If LI Dodgers outputter Jason Hayward returned to the lineup
from injury on Sunday. He has a tr run shot
and his team is nine six victory over the Boston
Red Sox.

Speaker 14 (24:54):
Up next to number four.

Speaker 5 (24:55):
If Cincinnati Reds operator Will Benson, who returned home to
the A on Monday and hit this whole shot and
the Reds four one win over the Atlanta Braves. Sitting
in the three spot, we've got Topronal Blue Jays ryefooter
George Springer, whut himself a solid series against the Tigers
