(01:06):
thank god it's Friday, and we got a lot of
NFL to get into, a lot of NBA talk and
uh even some college basketball talking football actually, so we
got a great show planning for you today. TJ. Houshman Zana,
the former Pro Bowl wide receiver and current FS one
(01:26):
NFL analysts, will join us at the bottom of this hour,
just about thirty minutes from now. That's going to be great,
and Rob Parker and I we uh I feel like
I'm seeing you too much today because we were. We
were together this morning for three hours. Yes, we did
show Pacific nine to twelve Eastern. Yeah, we co hosted.
(01:49):
We filled in for Dan Patrick on the Dan Patrick Show.
And that was a lot of fun. It absolutely was.
I know it was a waiter, a route awakening for
a lot of people waking up on the West coast
hearing us kind of going at it was like classical
music fans all of a sudden being bombarded with hip hop.
Exactly what happened to my station right turn your station base.
(02:13):
Believe that it was definitely a fun time had by all.
So here we are round two. We wouldn't take the
night off. We're not that kind of guy. No load management,
he no low management. Baby eighty two games and I
won't even watch. The player mentioned that I was on
local radio in la Am five seventy from one to
(02:34):
two putting in triple double overtime, triple overtime. Yes, and
then after that I'm going to meet friends who was
in town for dinner, and then later on another friend
for some drinks. Just a full day for me, But
I love every minute of a Christians should stay away
from those houses of ill repute. Oh man, stop, Oh
that's where you're having drinks. You might have drinks there.
(02:56):
I'm a little moist right now. Sor right, let's just
you did You just killed me for the night and
I wasn't even in That's one of my favorite Seinfeld episode.
Let's do it, um, let's welcome into our couple of cool.
(03:18):
Wouldn't be able to do this fine little radio program
without him. Rob Ge doing a little double duty as well.
He was with us this morning as our producer once again.
Anything to not go home with the baby. Rob like,
that's that's to his wife, right, But he's already worn out.
He loves being here. He's like, can I work with
Jonas tonight? Is there any chance? I mean, he's been
(03:41):
smiling from ear to ear ever since he's come back
from out about the paternity leads and his wife is like,
oh okay, I got something for him. Alex, of course
is our engineer. Mister Steve de Seger is at the
anchor desk. He'll keep us updated throughout the program. And yes,
Sam is in turn, and Chris all on the other
(04:04):
side of the glass in full of fact. Come on,
Chris bu salt on this Friday night. What is it
called freaky Friday? Fun slashback Friday. Let's kicks? Let's do that?
All right? Speaking of that, Rob, you know who's been
getting their butts kicked the Golden State Warriors loving every
(04:24):
minute of it. I'm sorry, that was just a song
in my head. Well, I loving every minute of it.
We get into this, I do have to say something
about Rob g. He's an instigator. What do you do?
He's an instigator. He's a long suffering Lakers fan. Now
he's had his championships, of course, but it's been a while,
and he loves to hate on the Warriors, and in
(04:45):
particular Steph Curry. Now you you're not a huge fan
of Staff's either, but Rob Ge makes it worse. He's
always whispering in your ear. Did you see the story
on Staff? If only Steph shot eight for twenty three
last night? Steph can't carry them, Rob Steph's not Lebron,
(05:06):
Steph's not Kauhi. And sure enough, our friend Rick Buker,
friend of the show, Yes FS one colleague wrote a
story and Bleacher Report today called Warriors No More about
how people and players around the league executives coaches are
enjoying taking it to the Warriors, taking it to the streets,
(05:30):
in particular, beating Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Take that
and you'll like it too. Go home and get your
shine box. Here's the problem. They're upset because Steph and
Dramond are injured, and so you want to beat them
up for what they've done to you over the last
(05:51):
five years. But they're banged up, So you're beating up
a bunch of no names when you pummel the Warriors.
That's all right. Gee wants to he wants to paint
it this way. And Rob Parker's gonna do the same thing,
because of course Rob g has been his ear. Rob
Kid hasn't been in all opinion, Ear Rob, that's wax
all up in your ear, all right. He's the flavor
(06:14):
in your ear, all right. And he wants to say
it's because, as you would say, Steph's not that guy.
He ain't that guys any fear of him. It's not
because he's not that guy. It's not because they don't
have fear of him. It's because he is that guy.
And for the last five years he's been sticking it
(06:36):
to him and shimmying to boot. That's why they're upset.
This little clean cut kid from Davidson, This little clean
cut kid who grew up with a silver spoon in
his mouth because his dad was a wealthier, rich NBA player,
(06:56):
This little kid that nobody thought could ball ate him
up for the last five years, ain't nobody a buddy
Dremond Greece. So Step was shimmying and Dremond was talking track. No,
they ain't, because the bottom line that they want to
get on them when they when they're down. No, and
(07:16):
I get it. That's that's human nature. It's fine. It's
just don't tell me it's because he's not that guy.
It is that. And it's more because, uh Steff. They
knew that Steff needed uh Kevin Durant, Kevin Duran Durant
in order to pop it, flex his yellow muscles and rode.
(07:41):
How you even say that when he won the championship
without KD. All right, if you want to claim that,
I'll do you take it. I'm just saying that championship
was all of us stronger than the one Toronto. And
all I know is when he was up three to one,
they choked it. Down. Remember that was just then. Everybody
was talking about that STEP's the best player in the
(08:01):
NBA and all that other stuff. Look at this, They
broke Michael Jordan's record. They're gonna win another championship. They
had it all mapped out, and then what happened. They
crapped out. And everybody knows it. All that shimmyon and
shaken when it matters most. Rob g. You saw the game.
Clay wasn't on the court, Dwan wasn't on the court.
(08:23):
He had a three ball. He could have snatched the
Hearts away from Toronto, forced the game seven. They were
right there, and what happened. He did what he normally
does in those situations. He missed it. He can make
the circus shots when the Washington Generals are out there,
he can't make it. He can't make it when it
(08:46):
matters most. And that's what happened. And now they should
rub it. They should They should do whatever they can.
Get him a doctor, get him help so they could
get back on the court, so they can rub it
in his face. They could drop him, get him out there.
Run over jealousy, jealousy, jealousy, It ain't jealousy. And look
(09:08):
and I'm I'm gonna keep it real. I get it
because the analytics, millennial media, they love Steff. Now I
love Steph too, but not because of the analytics, not
the same way that the basketball geeks do. And Rob
(09:31):
g he knows this because he's tuned into what the
media saying. Those same analytics, guys in the media that
lift up Steph. You know what they do, Rob Parker,
what's up? They tear down Kobe because analytically, Kobe's numbers
were not those of the great player he was. I
(09:57):
think they disrespect Kobe. They disrespect I said, time is
too you ready for this one same reason? Guess will
analytics say is the greatest rebounder of all time? Don't
playing right now? He's playing right now, he's playing in
the midwestern town that heaven. Nope, that has a great Yes,
(10:20):
guess what why did they say? I mean, he's analytics
he's over Dennis Rodman. According to the analytics, he ain't
better rebounded than Dennis Robin, nor is he better than
it was because the competition. But that's what I'm saying.
But but the analytics show him as the best, the
greatest rebounder. So that's why I'm saying those things are
(10:41):
somewhat skewed sometimes. I'm sorry there's that stole by analytics
is a part of the equation, but it's not the
full story. And that's part of it too, And that's
why Rob G is so upset. Was that a script
you were reading that Rob G wrote for you? Who
am I? Jim Rome? I don't read a script. I'm
just saying you got totaled up. You think I'm reading
(11:05):
the script? This is you don't even dislike Steff to
this degree. This is the thing he just he can't
get over when I can articulate and I didn't stumble
over my words. I'm telling to him, tell him to
Chris black and White, why step ain't that guy? And
it's so still haven't even defined and it's that guy. Well,
(11:26):
a guy you can't count on, you can't without Somebody's
the game of basketball. What else does that guy? He
can't win you the game? When when he doesn't have help,
he can't win you. Let Rob read a few of
these quotes. He's dying. He's about the sixth time he's whispered. Chris,
you got to put some contact into it. You were
so quick to shoot down, to shoot down the narrative.
(11:49):
You didn't want to get the quote because that's fault narrative.
So here's one. This is an anonymous player in the
Pacific Division talking about Steph Curry. He says, quote, it
got old with the anti Now that they've come back
to reality, you want to beat the hell out of them.
And see Steph with that towel over his head in
the fourth. The only problem is this team now is
(12:09):
in the Warriors. You're not gonna punish Glenn Robinson in
D'Angelo Russell. This is about Steph and Draymond. Here's another quote.
This one actually Rodney Hood put his name on it,
so respected Rodney Hood for this one. Obviously they were
good before kd oh, but one just don't just hold on,
don't just rush over that let in the second half
(12:36):
of this quote. But once they got in they took
it to another level. But I know for a fact,
particularly Draymond, when they were on top, they let everybody
know they were on top, and you felt their presence.
But everything comes to an end at some point. Guys
were looking forward to getting at them without that seven
foot monster. Now does that sound like something you would
(12:58):
say about a guy who is quote that guy, Chris
b Sorry, you think any wouldn't say say it about Dan,
Never say it about Lebron. They wouldn't say it about
any of those guys. And you know it, Chris, I'm
ad And then I'm on six money. Why No, I
just told you, And you know it's the fact. Now
(13:19):
you're gonna come away jealous because his father was an
NBA player, and he lived in the suburb and he
didn't live in the city, and he light skinned, and
this and that and all the other stuff. And because
he's a little guy and he did this and he
would change the NBA. Go ahead, No, what I'm gonna
say is most superstars of this caliber do not have
(13:44):
a time in their prime where they're vulnerable. Like Larry
Bird fell off or if I can use that term,
because he got hurt. He started having the back injuries
and that's why his team fall mat Jick Johnson of course,
had the HIV virus. He retired and is really still
(14:05):
in his prime. Michael Jordan left the game on top
for the second time, and then when he came back,
he was a thirty nine forty year old man, so
nobody was taking you know, having fun at taking it
to Jordan when he was forty years old. That's the thing, Rob,
Most superstars don't aren't vulnerable in their prime because their
(14:29):
teams don't break up. I mean, Kevin Durant, Clay Thompson,
andre A Guadala, Sean Levingston, they're all gone. Steph's supposed
to carry that. Draymond is a great all a round player,
but he's not a score. He's that guy supsed to
carry that. So that is why they're taking pleasure in
(14:51):
saying it because of what I just said to you.
Other guys never gave that chance. Lebron is still in
his prime, but you better believe if he falls off
and still plays a long time, god's are gonna like
putting it to him. It's because he's punished them for
so long, Rod Parker, That's why. And you know they
(15:14):
like sticking it to the bad boys too. You were
in Detroit. You know teams love sticking it to the
bad boys. So how about that. And then when Jordan
retired to first go round, they love sticking it to
Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant and b J. Armstrong and
all those guys, this is not new, this is not unprecedented.
(15:37):
You're talking to somebody that knows the history of the game.
So save your faulty narratives for somebody you can pull
the wool over their eyes. All right, let's see what
the callers think eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine sixty three sixty nine. Do the
(15:57):
comments coming from his peers proved that Steph Curry isn't
quote unquote that guy or is it just more jealousy
provoked by the hip boat. We'll continue the conversation with you. Next,
It's The Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio. Kid, be sure
(16:19):
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
All right, it's The Eye Couple, Chris Brusar, Rob Parker,

(17:00):
zone all those zone all right, we threw it out
to you guys eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
The phone lines are lit up, so you all want
to talk about Steph Curry. Let's start with Gerald in Minnesota. Gerald,
Welcome to the odd couple. Hey, what's up, Chris? What's up? Rob?
What's up? The first time calling? Thanks for calling in? Man?
(17:23):
Your Timberwolves look all right, I know the man. They
can keep it up. Yeah, they looked at decent. But Chris,
let me get into this. Hey Rob, I love you, man,
but guess what You're wrong. What I'm gonna say that
you love me, but you ain't. You ain't gonna back
me up? And it real. No, you're wrong. You're wrong
in certain areas because Chris is right. Look, this is
(17:46):
an opportunity for everybody to get back at the Golden
State Warriors for everything that they have done for them
from five years five years getting beat down. You got
a lot of animosity, you know what I'm saying? A
lot of m SEA is there, but that doesn't mean that.
You know, the Warriors are a good team, but their
(18:07):
their their their time is up. It's up. When it's up,
it's up. So now it's time for payback, you know
what I mean, It's time for payback. These teams want
to get at them every game, every day. It doesn't
matter who's in there. They just want to take that
name down. They've been disrespected, dogged out, you know. But Rob,
you are wrong, man, You just it's almost like I
(18:31):
don't know, you're just a hater. Man. I'll bet I'll
be listening to you, Chrispy Chrispy on you. I'll be
listening to you, and you're a brady hater too. I'll
be listening to that. Man. Why why, why keep calling it? Why?
I can't believe this. I thought you were my guy.
You know what, when I go to Minnesota, no more snow.
I'm not even going to the Great Mallow. Yeah, I'm
(18:53):
just not going. I'm gonna stop the snow there and
I'm not gonna go to that great mall of whatever
it is. Let's go to George and Chicago, Shytown in
the house. Welcome to the Odd couple, George, what's up? Hello?
Go ahead? Yeah, absolutely disagree with the boat, Absolutely disagree.
(19:16):
I don't understand what he sees by that guy. That guy.
I mean, oh, we got a bad, bad connection of man, George.
Too bad. I could we couldn't hear you dissing me.
Hector in Vegas. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Yeah, thanks for taking off call. I mean,
we're talking about the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.
(19:38):
He's not. He's not as he made the most three pointers.
He oh he will No, No, I'm talking about right now, Hector.
Hector does he have the record? Right now holds the record.
Ray Allen is the greatest shooter of all time? Yes,
go ahead. Actor. Ray Allen didn't change nobody. Nobody's done
(19:59):
what is done it as far as you what you
were saying about him never having, you know, being able
to win games in the couse, I've seen him throw
more daggers in people's eyes than than anybody else out there.
You want me to give you the numbers, because when
their team is down or tied with less than ten
seconds to go in the game, he's old for in
(20:20):
the finals and in the playoffs in the postseason, he
doesn't make a big shot. He's old for eight. He
had a chance to stick a dagger and force a
game seven against Toronto. He had a wide open look.
He didn't make it. Season man, there's any two games
of the season, how many how many gay women in
shots as he made? I'm talking about game playoffs and
(20:41):
finals when it matters most. Anybody can make circus shots
in a meaningless game. Anybody can. Let's they can stop it.
Let's go to Nick in Memphis. Nick, you're on with
Chris and Rob. Hey, what's up? Man? What man? Hey? Rob? Man?
Man you guys y'all got them all from stations. Man,
but Rob, you are really hating on what guys? Man
(21:04):
hate on? Wob you hating on that guy? May look Rob,
think about it last year this year basically they were
Toronto had to go six games to beat them. Guys, man,
they had to go six he was playing with a season.
What's you call it? That's that's not true? What you
stopped that? Van Gundhi said that team wouldn't even how
(21:27):
many games the clay play he played it? He missed
game played. He played it four of the six games
he played in four of the six games. Stopped making
excuses for first guy in the stop making excuses. Nobody
said that one when he beat Lebron and then with
Lebron had only one player, just him. Stuff. That's the
championship that they want to try to take that championship?
(21:49):
Am I taking away from you? Said? I want to
I want to give him the one that he choked
down up three to one. All right, Sean is Sacramento. No, No,
everybody has agreed with Rob yet. How about Michael and Texas.
Let's go there. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio, Bella, what's up? What's happening? Where are you
add in Texas? Michael el Paso right on the border. Okay,
(22:12):
nice run for the border. Yeah, try to soften me
up there. No, right, don't let him do it. You
know stricks and steams. Let me tell you something. First
of all, the Warriors have something that nobody else has,
and that's Draymond Green. Everybody wants to kick the Warriors
butt and get back at him because Draymond has a
(22:33):
big mouth and he was flaunting how great they were.
They had to add k D to make them great.
Now everyone wants to give it to him. I'm not
kidding you. Everybody now's their chance to get him back.
And I disagree with Steph Curry. Steph Curry's the greatest
shooter of all time. He's the greatest open. Thank you,
(22:53):
thank you, Michael. There you go, my man man the
best shooter, Michael my man contested shot period of all time.
Michael Jordan shot, he can make shot. No, no, And
I the greatest player. And in a big spot, I
tell you say, he's the greatest. I take Ray Allen
ten times out of ten times to make me a
(23:15):
big basket at the end of the game. Ten out
of ten. I wouldn't want stuff. Who would you take
step over Ray Allen? Yes, no, you wouldn't. I would
stop it. Steff is the best shooter in NBA. Here,
stop it, Chris period. You're gonna get me back my phrase.
I'm gonna put it on a T shirt. What you
probably will? What are the chances that Dad's Brant gets
(23:36):
back in the NFL? That's right, Dad Bryant before Antonio Brown. Wow,
that's a good question. Former Pro Bowl receiver t J
houshman Zada has the answer. Next, but first, Let's bring
in Steve the Sagan for the latest in sports. Steve, Steve, Steve.
If you have a one shot to make, is it
Ray Allen or Steph Cory? Who are you giving the
(23:57):
ball to? Well? Ray Allen was the best shooter I'd
ever seen in my life. Thank you. Steph. Curry is
going to pass all his No, he's not. Steve just
duty updates. I'm not answered in your point of view.
Are you expecting a broken hand for the rest of
his career? Of course he's gonna pass. He'll never be
the same when he comes back. Game winners. Kobe Bryant
is the answer. Eleven NBA games tonight and Cleveland is
(24:17):
at Washington. That's a battle of two and five teams.
Hot start for the Calves. They're up twenty three eighteen
now over the Wizards, about four minutes to go in
the first quarter. Late first quarter in Orlando, Magic up
twenty one eleven on the Grizzlies, and late first quarter
Pistons lead thirty two seventeen at Indiana Pacer Center. Miles
Turner out with a sprained ankle. One of the late
games tonight will at Brooklyn at Portland Net Center. DeAndre
(24:40):
Jordan out with a sprained ankle. The late game after
ten thirty pm Eastern time, will be the Lakers hosting Miami.
LA has won six and a row since the opening
night loss. Miami comes in with a six and two record.
The big news in the past hour in college basketball
that All American freshman center James Wiseman of Memphis is
still eligible after a judge put hold on today's NCAA
(25:01):
ruling against the player. Memphis coach Penny Hardaway, who was
also Wiseman's high school coach, gave over eleven thousand dollars
to Wiseman and his family in the past, purportedly to
move them to Memphis. That game going on, the Star
is playing had a couple early blocks. Memphis is up
at home in the first half, twenty four to eleven
over Illinois Chicago. There was an NHL game in Sweden today,
(25:22):
Tampa Bay three two winners against Buffalo. Those two will
play each other again there tomorrow. In college football on
FS one ten thirty pm Eastern tonight, Oregon State hosts Washington.
Of course, LSU at Alabama tomorrow. There's also number one
Ohio State against Maryland tomorrow Fox TV noon Eastern Time,
and Ohio State Superstar defensive end Chase Young will not
(25:44):
be playing in that game tomorrow due to an eligibility issue.
He leads the nation in Sachs. Quarterback of the Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes will start this weekend. Vikings wide receiver Adam
Thieland is out for Sunday night and forty nine Ers
tight end George Kittle miss practice again today with knee
and ankle injuries. Back to the odd Couple in ten seconds,
But first a word from Mako. Everyone loves that new
(26:04):
car smell, But what about that new car look? If
your paint is peeling or fading, don't get a new car,
get a new paint job. Calling out to book a
free estimate backed by our nationwide warranty. Oh better get Mako.
Steelers running back James Connor is out again with his
bad shoulder. Steelers who are at home against the Rams,
and Pittsburgh wide receiver Juju smith Schuster questionable. He was
(26:26):
limited in practice today with a bad foot. Odd Couple.
Back to you, Thank you, Steve. It is the a
couple of Christen rob coming to you live from the
Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios it's easy to say fifteen
percent or more on your car insurance with Geico. Go
to Geico dot com or car eight hundred and nine
four seven Auto. The only horror part figuring out which
way is easier. He's a former Pro Bowl wide receiver
(26:48):
currently in FS one NFL analyst. We love having him
on the show. TJ. Houshman's eye. What's happening in Man?
How are you? Man? I'm going well. How was y'all?
We are great? We are great. Let's get right to it.
Das Bryant said in a couple of weeks, he's gonna
start contact the NFL teams. He's only thirty one. Who's
(27:09):
what do you think of his chances of getting back
in the NFL? What do you think he may have
left at this point? That's interesting with him being only
thirty one. Obviously he's young enough to Yaffam play. It's
just more so one is his body gonna hold up?
He hadn't played a real football game in such a
long few At the time, you're just working out and
(27:31):
playing at the speed and level you need to be
at to be in the NFL. As a different story,
how about last night we got to see Philip Rivers,
he threw five interceptions, was lucky that two got called back,
so he only had three. But when you look at him.
Chris and I had a big discussion this morning on
The Dan Patrick Show and TJ. Whose career would you
(27:55):
rather have? I mean Philip Rivers, who's done a lot
during the regular season, his numbers go down, not as
much success in the postseason. Or would you rather be
Eli Manning who didn't have the greatest He was a
five hundred quarterback during the regular season, but won two
Super Bowls, won two Super Bowl MVPs, and arguably he
had two of the greatest throws we've seen in Super
Bowl history. Who would you rather be a career wise? Oh,
(28:19):
that's easy, that's no. I don't even see the debate
that you'd rather have Eli's career. And when I say that,
because number one, it's not like Eli has been a
slouch in a regular season. He's been pretty good in
a regular season as well. He's not as good as
Silver Rivers, but when you have two super Bowl rings,
and not to mention, who's made more money, so of
(28:42):
course Eli, Yeah, he has no doubt about it. Let's
go to Cleveland who o O. Bj Odell Beckham Junior.
And he was asked today or yesterday how he feels
like he's handled this situation, and he feels like he's
handled it well, and he really has. He hasn't had
any outbursts. I mean, he's had the other things with
the watches and shoes and all that. But if you're
in his position, a star receiver, you know you've got
(29:05):
all this ability, all this talent, but you're not getting
the ball, You're not getting targeted like you feel like
you should. How would you handle that? Would you do
you privately go talk with Baker Mayfield? Or how does
a receiver deal with that? You don't. You don't talk
with the quarterback because you know the quarterback wants to
get you the ball. It's more so on the play caller.
(29:27):
And the problem I have is just go back, go
back to this past Sunday when they playing to them
le Broncos. The play of the game, it's fourth and four.
You get single high safety. It's man to man. Every
team I ever played on your best receivers getting that
ball and they don't even throw them the ball. And
(29:49):
you watch that game, if they throw him the ball,
if it's a decent ball. It's at least a first down,
maybe a touchdown. And so that's the only thing that
concerns met with a single high safety and Odell Beckham
had press coverage, he had a goal route and Baker
didn't even look his way. And so is that on
Baker or is that on like? Who's that on number one?
(30:12):
Baker always has the ball, so you would put that
on him. But I look at it from the perspective
of where is his reads? What was the play designed
to go to him? Normally it's a one high, two
high read. If you get too high, you worked this
part of the field, you get one high, you worked
this part of the field. But anytime you get manned
the man, you should always look to go to your
best receiver, and especially with one safety or not doubling them.
(30:33):
So from that person, I didn't get that, but I'm
sure it's frustration, and I think he's handled it fantastic.
Have you did you pick the Browns? I mean, everybody
was going gaga over the Browns when they made the
trade and oh they're gonna last year they won seven games,
only one against the team over five hundred, but everybody
was all Gagne and carried away about the Browns. Where
(30:57):
were you on them? And how far are they from
your expectations? How was one of those guys? This is
this is why roberts, when you have good players, you
should win. And I don't think anybody has talked about this. Uh.
When when it comes to Baker Mayfield, his quarterback coach
(31:19):
last year was Ken Zampeezy. I played under Kens Zampeezy.
His quarterback coach this year, I believe is Ryan Finley
Kins Zampeazy. When I tell you too is attention to detail,
You're gonna know what the team is trying to do?
Could that be why Banker isn't playing as well? It's
the same offensive coordinator technically, And uh, Freddy Kittens who's
(31:44):
the head coach? Now? They love Kitchen so much that
they made him the head coach. Like everybody they interviewed
had to keep Kitchens and he wound up getting the
head coaching job. So they probably thought that it was
Kitchens and not the quarterback coach. Right man, The quarterback
coach spends more time with you. Like I said, I
played under kids at Peasy. When I tell you, he's
a fantastic coach, I mean, you might be overprepared dealing
(32:05):
with him. And that's the only thing I can think
of with Baker's regressions, because he shouldn't be playing the
way he's planning, not with the weapons he has. He
has the best skilled players in the league on one team.
Who if Antonio Brown is cleared of these charges, what
do you think the future holds for him? I mean,
I would think that an NFL team definitely will pick
(32:26):
him up. But considering you know what he did in
New England, going at Robert Craft and all that in
social media, what he did in Oakland, Like, what do
you think the future holds? Room? You think he'll go
somewhere and actually, you know, just kind of behave himself
and play football. I actually do. I think he's been humbled.
You see what he did yesterday kind of lashed out
(32:47):
and then he thought about him was like, you know
what hold him? Let me really tell these people that
I really want to play. Did he think about it
or did this agent tweet that out? Oh no, no, no, no, no, Okay,
So I'm sure I'm sure somebody says something to him.
But then he rationally had to he had it through
it himself, right. I don't think anybody's control, but I'm
sure somebody says something to him. It's frustration, man, when
(33:11):
some have been taken away from you, and you you
believe it should have been resolved by now and it hasn't.
Pure frustration. Can you imagine how did the Raiders would
be with him the way they're playing right now, TJ.
The Jets and Giants are playing, both bad teams. Normally
would be nobody paying attention to that. But the one
story coming out of that is sat Quon Barkley's dad.
(33:34):
Sat Quan is from the Bronx. His dad, a lifetime
New York Jets fan, even has a Jets tattoo, is
going to where his Joe Namith jersey to the game,
not his son's jersey, who plays for the Giants. What
do you make of at? Is that like cool? Can
you respect that for being faithful to his team that
(33:55):
he had before. I guess maybe his son was born
or is that foul? No, just saying I'm asking TJ. Listen, listen,
I have one son. If my son makes it and
he's a professional athlete, I don't care what team I've
liked before him. That is now my team, right, So
(34:16):
I don't care how long I was a fan. Blood
that's my son. I'm rolling with him. Joe Namers jersey.
That that thing is getting hung up in a I'm
not wearing old Jets jersey. I'm rocking with my son
all day, every day. I hear you. He's something though,
but his dad is gonna wear that jersey. Game tripping
all right, that's TJ. Houshman's out a great job, great weekend, brother,
(34:37):
Yea'll take care of man. Great show, keep going, Thank you.

your theme song. You need to do away with that.
Nelly Jill Scott hater hate on because you have no
compassion for people out there working hard, trying to earn
(35:24):
a livin. What you're talking about. That's what I'm trying
to do. I'm helping people day right right hate on
Rob Parker. This is that actually is a perfect segue,
because Parker, when you tried to come out of character
and not hate and show some love, it backfired. When
(35:46):
the Los Angeles Chargers, you picked them to make the
Super Bowl? And what what did you do when you picked? Uh,
my two teams are alive, My two my two picks
are very much alive. They're not Kana City Chiefs, they're
not winning the Stop it, Chris. They're very much alive.
They're certainly far more alive than the Los Angeles Chargers.
(36:09):
Want to bet about your two teams making it to
the Super Bowl, I'm saying right now, my teams are
way way more in better position than yours. No, just
just because the Chargers have they've been eliminated from the playoffs,
they could run off of they could run off a
seven game winst you sound like a Browns fan all right? Anyway,
(36:30):
last night the Chargers fell to four and six with
a tough loss to the Oakland Raiders. Philip Rivers, who
is sixth all time in passing yards, Our buddy Ry
Woodson told us that today and the names ahead of
him Mark It's it's an impressive list, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning,
(36:51):
Brett Farve. Who else was on that list? Uh, Tom
Brady and Dan Marina. That is impressive, but he was
not impressive last night. Three interceptions could have easily been five.
And guess what his contract ends this year be a
(37:12):
free agent. And this is no slight on Philip Rivers,
who I think has had a Hall of Fame career.
I'd let him go because here's the deal, with him
and his best, him and his prime. We didn't win it,
So how in the world should I think we're gonna
win it with him showing his age now and past
(37:36):
his prime? Right? I agree? And at some point you
have to make a determination. Where are we going home dinner,
a show to the Super Bowl? Which one? You know
what I mean? You gotta figure it out, Chris, And
it ain't the super Bowl? Right? Last year? Was that chance?
That was it that they had a squad? Right? Because
(37:58):
Tom Brady is even he's still winning, he's not you
know what he used to be and they were balling
last year. Christ defense is horrible. Yeah, Chargers did look
very good. They looked very good going into that game.
They had won nothing but big games. You remember, uh
Lamar Jackson was all stellar, right, and they shut him down.
(38:20):
They beat him. I'm just saying I'm with you on this.
I think they gotta really to make a determination. When
you look at him, just the test, he looks old
and he can't move around. Rob He's gonna be thirty
eight in about a month. He's an old thirty eight
(38:41):
and thirty eight is old. See, that's part of the problem. Teams, executives,
fans are being fooled by Tom Brady Andrew Brees. You're
looking at those guys play well and that No, that's old.
That is old. I don't know what he came in
(39:03):
two thousand and four, so this is what his fifteen
sixteenth year. That's a long time. That's a lot of hits.
Look at Cam Newton after a lot less time. Look
at Andrew luck after a lot less time. I know
they took more hits, but it takes right. So teams
need to stop thinking that everybody, every quarterback is gonna
(39:28):
play until he's forty, play well until he's forty. No,
it's not going to happen. And I think the Charger
would be best served by moving on. This season could
actually be a blessing in disguise for them if they
really fall off and get a good draft pick. You
got a few quarterbacks in this draft, maybe you end
up getting the air Apparent. So if I'm the Chargers,
(39:53):
you know I'm that's the route I'm looking at. Now,
on the other side of the ball, Rob, how about
those Oakland Raiders. I'm gonna give him a few props.
I mean, yesterday I called a mediocre and they were.
They were four and four. Now they're five and four,
and I have to admit they've played They're playing some
good football. I'm not ready to apologize to John Gruden,
(40:14):
but I am ready to say, you know what, you're
doing a really good job. And if they close this
out by making the playoffs, then I think you have
to give him his props. I agree. A year to
year sport, now, no, I agree with that. I mean,
it looked like it was a disaster. And what you know,
remember when they hired Mike Mayock and the ab situation.
(40:35):
There was just a lot of things going on and
you just wondered, was this just a money grab by him,
he traded away as two best players. You just started
to look and say, what is this? What are the
Raiders doing? And somehow, some way they are in the
playoff picture and to be one game behind the Chiefs.
When the Chiefs lose this week, they have a chance
(40:57):
to be right there? Are you looking at me? Man Patrick?
Did you hear the news? Yeah? Yeah, And the last
time we saw him, the last you're talking about that junk.
He ain't gonna get forty two. He might he might
get forty. He's win missed a few games. He might
lead the league in touchdowns passes. Still what you're gonna say? Then,
(41:19):
I'm gonna tell you we're wrong again. It's the I Couple.

There's been one champion and the pigs can pick off

Are we talking about last year? Who was the champion? No?
What what you're talking about? Old stuff? The champion? No, No,
(42:44):
we don't have to please don't do it. I'm here.
I don't know if I can play champions here this year. Chris. Look,
this is the season is midway through. Shout the Clippers.
If the Clippers out the best record at the All
Star break, are they gonna celebrate? That tells you. Rob's
(43:06):
not used to winning because he's celebrating. It's half a
season left and you're celebrating. You know what, what are
we gonna say about Kawhi and the Clippers if they
got the best record? They they're walking around sticking, yeah
we got the best. Or the Lakers, you think Lebron
and a d What if they're the number one seed
at the All Star break, I'm gonna be bragging about
that when it's such a round. It's making you look bad.
(43:28):
Somebody's you know, somebody's winning bets at a seventy one
percent clip. It might be hired this beast. No, that's not,
yes it is. Please, we're already past the halfway point.
You want some Jordans on that that you're gonna stay
at seventy one percent? Look at you, I think that's
the best I'll take. You think you're gonna stay at
seventy one percent? Come on, you ready? Look he's afraid
(43:49):
of beat me. He bluff. Did you see that you were?
You were fullers off to see you were about the poort. No, no,
you don't want that. I'm gonna let you enjoy your
Come on, look at you don't want you? I know
you wouldn't bet that. I know you wouldn't bet that.
I'm gonna stays. I need, I need. Uh, I'm a

little gunshot you are. I just brought you to me.
I just brought you Christmas. I I don't know if
I need a few wing bets make you feel good again.
But but I'm I'm coming for I'm telling you, all right,
So let's just stop. It's not it makes you look bad.
(44:33):
It makes you look what is it saying. Act like
you've been there before. Act like you've been there before.
And that's what I'm telling you, because everybody see you
acting like you never scored a touchdown before. So relax.
We got a lot of the room left, all right.
We also have a special guest entering the studio in
(44:54):
the third hour of the show. It's our friend, the
great actor musician Leon full name Leon Robinson, but just
goes by Leon. He will be joining us in studio
in the third hour of the show. Played basketball at
a high level in high school and college, played loyal
the Merrymount and uh so he he loves the NBA
(45:17):
and he's got basketball knowledge. We had him morning. We
were very impressed. We would not bring him in if
he was just gonna tell jokes or not talk about
his uh acting, which is fine, we'd have him on
for ten minutes, but not those basketball that. Speaking of basketball, Rob,
the nc DOUBLEA strikes again. They have ruled one of
(45:41):
the top players in the nation, a freshman, James Weissman,
who somethink is the top prospect in the NBA Draft.
He's a freshman six ten center and plays for Memphis,
and he's been ruled ineligible. But some developments. Rob g
Phillison on all of the recent developments with this. That's
(46:05):
right now, Chris. This all stems back from a allegation
and investigation that took place in the spring and continued
up until recently that Penny Hardaway, the coach of Memphis
University basketball, helped Wiseman and his family move to Memphis,
so that's what he was guilty of. Now, this happened
(46:26):
before Penny was the name the coach at Memphis, so
he was deemed to be a booster at that time.
Not necessarily, the coach and the NT double initially declared
that Wiseman would be ineligible for accepting improfit benefits, while
Memphis appealed it in the court system, and a judge
this afternoon announced a temporary stay, which means that while
(46:51):
there is still more legal proceedings to be had moving
forward until it gets sorted out, Wiseman can play for Memphis.
So he playing in tonight's game. They're playing against what
Illinois Chicago? Is it University of Illinois Chicago. And he
has eight points and five eight points, six rebounds and
(47:15):
five blocks and they are will the memphisis routing in
fifty one to sixteen. But that shows you what type
of player he is. Five blocks, eight points, six rebounds.
But yeah, Rob, it feels. And then there's football news today,
go ahead, and the Ohio State superstar defensive end is
(47:39):
was ruled ineligible was Chase Young was ruled ineligible for
this game against Maryland this weekend. Rob. We'll see if that's,
you know, extends to the rest of the season. But
he took money from a family friend. First the report
said he was an agent. Now they're saying he wasn't
an agent. He's a family friend. I saw a number,
(48:02):
Rob Jesus correct, eleven thousand dollars and he paid He
paid him back. Eleven thousand is the Wiseman number. We're
hearing some other things as well. YEA, that that we
can't report, but we've heard that the number is way
bigger than that. There is no figure on the the
young payment, only that he claims that he paid it back,
(48:23):
so he should be. But the other thing, the number
is huge. What if the number is huge, we're talking
six figures then there how could he pay that back?
While the other thing, too is why is a why
is u a high school kid? Bar and money? Though?
Like there's something new? Well, I thought it was interesting,
you know what I mean? Like, seriously, he's getting a
loan from somebody. I thought it was interesting that Chase,
(48:46):
and credit to him for owning up to everything. No,
he released the statement saying that a fan he caught
him a family friend since the summer before my freshman year,
So that's a family You're going to Ohio States. I
knew you're probably going to the NFL, and then this
dude pops into your life. So it's interesting. But what
(49:08):
I see rob, particularly in the Weisman case, is the
NC double A. Maybe I'm reading too much into it,
but we know that they just they didn't want to
allow players to capitalize on their name likeness and image,
and they were essentially forced to right. They were forced
(49:31):
to because in other states were ruling that athletes were
gonna be able to do that. And so now it
seems it maybe it's just the timing, but it feels
like the NC double A is cracking down on these
kids for one last hurrah if you will that that's
what it is. Like Weissman, Who's I mean, Okay, this
(49:54):
is going to be okay in a few years. Yeah,
but the name a few years, Chris. You can't act like, uh,
we're gonna like ignore it because this is gonna happen
down the road. He violated the current rules that are there.
If that's the case, So I'm not I'm not hurting himself, okay,
but I'm not gonna buy that there. Now they're gonna
(50:14):
go after them and and go after If you don't
take the money, then you don't don't have any problem.
I mean, let let's be honest. You can't let the
kids off the hook and say, oh, well but in
five years from now. But go with the school. I say,
at the school, I know kids and the assistant coaches.
I agree. Rick Pettino's up the exhibit A you're telling
(50:36):
me if grand assistant making forty grands paying for prostitutes,
Chris and Rick Pottino don't know what is going on
in the dorms. Stop, how point in the world. Right?
I understand that. But he did take money allegedly. That's
another problem. Right? Is that not a problem? It won't
(50:57):
It'll be legal in a few years. It'll be legal.
But I get what you're saying. But I just think
the system is so corrupt. He's the only kids taking money. No,
I'm with you. I think the NCA is the worst.
It borders on organized crime what they do. Chris, I'm
with you, but I'm not gonna let people off the
(51:19):
hook for doing what they're not supposed to under the
current rules. And that's all I'm saying. If the kids innocent,
that's one thing. If he's not and he's fessed up,
these guys are fessed up to it, or they have
evidence of what's going on, then you have to pay
the price. I hear you. All rules are rules, right.
I just hate seeing the kids are always the ones
(51:40):
whose names and families are dragged through the mudd. I
get it, it's always them, and they are the most
innocent of the people involved in this. I'm not saying
they're completely innocent, no, but they're manipulated by the innocent,
and then and then they're manipulated by the manipulated by
the system, and by the adults, by the school, by
(52:01):
the coaches, by the hangars on. Sometimes by the parents.
Want the money sometimes yeah, yeah, I agree, and the
eighteen year old kids, well, you're not gonna listen to
your MoMA, she says, take the money. I need the money.
Take the money. Wiseman is going to be fine if
he can't play this year, after you know, this game
(52:21):
to night, in a few more games, maybe he's still
going to be a top pick in the draft. Still.
I mean, you already have some players who are going
to Australia LaMelo ball. There's talk that he could be
the number one pick. He's playing overseas, so there are
a lot of Wiseman will be fine. This could actually
(52:42):
leave more kids to say, you know what, I'm done
with the NC Double A. They're gonna keep doing stuff
like this. This really hurts the NC Double A. And
I get it, Rob, You're right, rules or rules, that's all.
I'm not on the NCA side. But I can't like
exonerate him because the rules is gonna change. Uh, he
knew what These people, they know what's going on. They
(53:05):
know what's happening, and you can't let yourself get caught
up again. And that's that's happened, keeps happening over and over.
Everybody thinks they're not gonna get caught or it's not
gonna be them right. It's like the steroid thing. I mean,
people still get busted for it, even though they know,
even though they're right, they still they still get busted.
After some great players have been brought down, stripped of
(53:29):
being able to get in the Hall of Fame, their
careers soiled, and people still fail to test. Yep, yep,
no doubt about it, no doubt about it. You're right, Rob.
So it's interesting. But we'll see what happens with James Weissman.
Is he able to play? I think it's a rules
(53:49):
a rule. You gotta buy buy him. But this is
gonna hurt the NC double A because because people want
to see this kid play. I agree, I'm watching them.
What if Zion, What if R J? Barrett Trey Young
had been not playing their freshman years so We'll see
what happens, but hopefully justice is served. Let's put it
that way, all right, dud. The James Weissman and Chase
(54:11):
Young suspensions prove that the NCUBA is trying to crack
down on players while they still can. You're turning away
at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seventy seven,

news about James Weisman right there in Memphis suspended, and
then his suspension is lifted for the time being, so
(55:16):
we could play the night by a judge. We're gonna
go to check in on one of our college basketball insiders.
He works for ninety two point nine f him in Atlanta,
DeShawn Tate covers college hoops for them. Deshaun was the
eye couple, rob Pe Bruce, what's going on? Appreciate you
for having me. We're great, brother, We're great. So you're
(55:36):
you're on top of this Weisman's story. What can you
tell us? Yeah, Well, first things first, Um, we're looking
at Wiseman not even potentially being held from plane moving forward,
which I thought was a little bit, you know, a
surprise to me. But this will go away, according to
(55:58):
my sources, as closer to situation and close to to
the university, he will play and this will go away.
This will not be a reoccurring thing. Uh, and they
will not be stretched out to be very long. Uh.
We're looking at north of two hundred k uh in
(56:19):
terms of the financials that have been exchanged. So how
how is he gonna get away with that? If he's
gonna be able to play and at that number. You're
telling us that that's the number. That's that and and
and and that's a pretty hefty number. But you know what,
there's a I would imagine there's a lot of grease
hands in this situation. I don't know if there's judges
(56:39):
or whomever else, but I will say enough to say
that this isn't the first time that a situation has
been lifted. Uh. Maybe not in terms of money's money
being exchanged, but more so, Uh, they're being situations where
uh players have you know, been been disciplined. Uh, some
(57:00):
situations have gone away and the lawyers and the attorneys
that are involved is working a lot of those same cases.
And in this situation, you're looking at Penny Herdaway, who
has plenty of money and his best friend to keep
his mouth closed, and that's exactly what he's gonna do.
All right. So to get to the bottom line, your people,
as sources you've talked to, do not believe this is
(57:24):
going to stop Weisman from playing the rest of his
college bout this season season. That is that is absolutely correct. Okay,
there we go. We're gonna look, We're gonna look at
this story as we go forward and definitely get back
to de Sean. We love the infault de Sean. Do
you think that you saw the situation with the defensive
(57:46):
end in Chase Young in Ohio State. Do you think
this CLA is kind of cracking down now because they
know obviously the rules are changing pretty soon over the
next few years. Absolutely, and not only that, but I
think that they are looking for some ideal people to
make examples out of. And when you have a talent
like a Chase Young, who's you know, arguably one of
(58:11):
the first guys is going to be taken off of
the draft board potentially whenever that may be. And then
Wiseman obviously it goes unsaid as well. I would think
that that's gonna be you know that that's what their
objective is. But I also want to remind you when
I was telling you about north of two hundred K
that's on top of that's in addition to moving the
family from Nashville, Tennessee to Memphis, Tennessee prior to uh
(58:38):
Penny Hardaway becoming the head coach at Memphis, so at
that point, essentially being considered a booster. All right, Deshaun,
great stuff, man. We appreciate the insight and we'll be
back in touch with you. Hey, thank you, guys, appreciate it.
All right, Let's get to the cause. You heard him.
He thinks this is gonna go away. That's what sources are.
(58:59):
That's a high number. I kind of wonder if if
it's gonna go away like this, maybe they would have
done it before, you know, before it even comes out
right or you know, but you gotta judge involved who's saying,
Who's who's saying that. He'd be right that he's trying
to help the kid out. Dude, he should be playing
even though the investigation is going on. All right, how
about David and Oregon. You're on the odd couple of
(59:20):
Fox Sports Radio. What you got David? Hey, guys, I
just want to say I cot y'all on my drive
this morning. Loved you then, long time callers since day
one on this night show, Man David, we appreciate that.
It was. It was, it was a little it was
a little loud in this this morning was a little
louder than that. I owe you apology for some snack
(59:40):
talks about Tom Brady. He looked old, but that's not
what we're talking about. The lawyer, I just wanted to
touch on the legal implications of an injunction being granted,
because it's such a high standard that they have to
show that the plane after movement's likely to succeed on
the merit, that the movement will suffer irreparable harm if
it's not granted. That the balance of the equity tips
(01:00:00):
in their favors, and that the public interest is also
in their favor. So I think that's important, guys. I mean,
if we look at that a judge is saying that
the public interest favors letting this young man play, that
it's going to irreptably harm him, which it will. I mean,
if he can't play basketball in the NC double as
then think about his lost earning potential. I just think
(01:00:21):
that that's a very strong decision. However, the NC Double
as a monopoly the art criminals, and they're going to
continue to enforce the rules as written to the letter
of the law, in part because there's going to be
some ambiguity when this new law comes or the new effects,
and they're gonna need to let players know that you
still can't take you know, one hundred grand to come
(01:00:42):
to school. You can't get those kinds of end kind benefits.
You know, there's a distinction between your right, uh, your
likeness in your name versus just right right. So, David,
what we heard from DeShawn take the Insider, does that
sound right to you? I mean, if you're talking about
a number like two hundred dollars, does this sound right?
That he's gonna end up playing this most of this year?
(01:01:05):
I'll tell you. Should he that's you know, morally, that's
another question us A lot think so. But the fact
that is that a district court judge or stake court
judge granted an injunction which says that you know, he's
likely to succeed on the merits. That's hard to undo.
He can, uh, the NCUBA can appeal that, but I'm
not sure if the standard to review in Tennessee. But
(01:01:27):
it's generally speaking, that's that's a hard thing to accomplish.
So I think it's gonna stick and that he's gonna
play all right, good stuff, appreciate it. Let's go to
Steve in Hawaii. Steve, you're on with christ and Rob. Hey, guys,
how you doing it happening? Man? I'm good. Hey, I'm
gonna respectfully disagree with your source who just called. Is
(01:01:48):
no way the NCAA is going to clear this guy
when you're talking about six figures on some miscellaneous cash
and five figures of movie expenses paid by at the
time Hardaway who's now the coach and being the booster. Right,
you guys have seen this movie before. There's no way
he's gonna be cleared right away. What do you think
(01:02:09):
about this, judge? Why you don't You don't see the
judges do this often, right, you're historically that right, that
kind of money, right, this is I too, the judge
getting involved. Okay, well, maybe the judge is in the
hometown department on the end. The NCAA may find themselves
where they're gonna have to stand up as well, because
(01:02:30):
this could be precedent setting, and you guys know how
much the na like setting precedent. And look, this is
embarrassing for the NCAA. They've already taken a few punches
so far. They did thought they were gonna stop California.
Remember they threatened the governor in California and said you
better not do this, right, and so this is another
l for them if this goes through. But yeah, that's
(01:02:53):
a high stave to think it's just gonna go away.
Appreciate it? Can we squeeze in Rodney? Rodney and Omaha,
you're with Chris and Rob. Hey, Now what's remember hey? Man,
that's a that's a that's a lot of money that
get kids got. Man, if the number is true, it's alleged,
it's alleged. That's remember that. But uh, I'd rather see
(01:03:15):
them kids take the money. I mean, I take the money,
but if it's given to him, I'd rather see him
take the money instead of go out and rob somebody
to get some food or or grab a bag of
cocaine and starts selling out the dorm rooms. Well, I
mean they don't have Those are two extremes, man, he
got starts selling dope and I take I just cut
(01:03:37):
guys here in the door and maybe five dollars. Work
at the gymnaseum a few hours a week. I used
to check IDs at the field house. What about the
guy from Ohio State that the running back, He was
doing all kinds of stuff. Man, No, I know, I'm
just saying. It just seemed a little extreme. But I
hear you go ahead straight, But you know, you know
(01:03:58):
they don't want to go to jail behind the playing game.
You know what I'm saying, So Michael, give him some money.
We're fortunately, I don't think we're not talking about jail
or anything. We're just talking about whether or not he's
gonna be able to play this season. So I mean,
obviously nobody wants to see him go to jail. Okay,
the only thing better than watching football on Sunday. As
(01:04:18):
I check off my picks, because I'm about to start
getting serious about it, we go again. Oh that's right,
that is right from every week watching under the Table
right now, that's our man, Lamar Mitchell from the MGM Grand.
Are you paying Alex under the chamber? What is? Alex
(01:04:39):
just knows, he rob I've let you have your fun.
Oh well, let you have your eight, your nine weeks,
whatever it is. Now, that's right. The champ is here,
and so is Lamar Mitchell of MGM Grand. He'll join
us next. But first our man Steve the Sager for
the Latest in Sports. I heard Alex got eleven thousand,
(01:05:01):
five hundred dollars under the table moving expenses. Yeah, and
and he got all the moving expenses and seaweed he
could eat moving the buttons. Fourteenth ranked Memphis. We can
update that they have sixty nine twenty five on Illinois
Chicago mid second half. All American freshman center James Wiseman
is still eligible after a judge put on hold today's
(01:05:22):
NCA ruling against the player. He has eight points, six rebounds,
five blocks in this game. Kentucky is whipping Eastern Kentucky
midsecond half sixty eight thirty five. Duke's up forty nine
twenty eight over Colorado State early in the second half.
There are eleven NBA games. Cleveland's Kevin Love oh for
two shooting, and yet the Calves early third quarter are
(01:05:43):
leading at Washington sixty seven to fifty three in a
battle of two and five teams. Memphis is at Orlando
and the Magic two and six this year Grizzlies two
and five Magic leading that game sixty five to fifty
eight mid third quarter, and the Pacers at home leading
the Detroit Piston seventy two sixty two mid third quarter.
Golden State at two and six is out to a
(01:06:04):
lead of twenty seven twenty at Minnesota late in the
first quarter. The late game will add the Lakers, winners
of sixth straight, hosting Miami, which is six and two
an NHL game in Sweden today Tampa Bay a three
two winner over Buffalo. They'll play each other again there tomorrow.
There are a couple of college football games tonight late
first half. UCF leads at Tulsa twenty one seventeen. Coming
(01:06:25):
up on FS one ten thirty pm Eastern time, it'll
be Washington, shockingly two and four in conference this year,
Husky's playing at Oregon State. Of course, Tomorrow it's LSU
at Alabama. Ohio State defensive end Chase Young will not
play tomorrow on Fox TV against Maryland due to an
eligibility issue. And finally, the NFL News, Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett,
(01:06:45):
with his bad knee, will be a game time decision
Sunday against the Dolphins. He's listed as questionable but did
practice this week. Steelers running back James Connor is out
again with a bad shoulder. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan will
return from his ankle injury Sunday. Vikings widersie Adam Thielan
is out for Sunday night at Dallas. Back to the
odd couple in ten seconds. First, a word from Mako.
Everyone loves that new car smell, but what about that
(01:07:09):
new car. Look if your paint is peeling or fading,
don't get a new car, get a new paint job.
Called out to book a free estimate backed by our
nationwide warranty. Oh better get mako. Chief's quarterback Patrick Cahomes.
We'll start this weekend. He'd missed two games with a
dislocated kneecap. Back to the odd couple. He's back. That's right,
That is right. Patrick Mahomes is back. All right, We're
(01:07:33):
a couple coming to you live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent more
on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred and nine four seven Auto.
The only horror part is figuring out which way is easier.
He's one of our few guests who has his own
theme music. He is the MGM Graham Race and Sports
(01:07:54):
book director, a husky young fellow like Rob Gee love
are Mitchell? Why you gotta bring up that he's husky? Chris?
What's wrong with you? Why compliment? Unbelievable? That's just really husky?
Is a compliment that's like a line babberbelievable. I don't
(01:08:16):
get y'all, Lamar. Last week, you remember Chris was bragging
about he's gonna make a comeback. He went one and four.
I went four and one. So I am picking over
seven seventy three percent, now seventy one. It's like, I
know my better doing here, are coming down doing this
(01:08:36):
Hawk radio show. I don't know what am I doing here.
I don't know. You might be in the wrong profession, Yes, Lamar,
don't don't don't encourage, all right, don't rob You'll have
the numbers coming up? All right, Lamar, let's start here.
All right, we got our NFL piece can't pick off
coming up in ten minutes. One game we're picking is
the Bills against the Browns. The Browns two and six,
(01:08:58):
Bills six and two. But I see the Browns are
three point favorites. What's the betting action like on this one?
To me, it feels almost blasphemous to have the Browns
his favorites against anybody right now. We were talking about
that earlier. It just doesn't make any sense. All the
money's on the Browns. I don't know why. I honestly don't.
(01:09:21):
They're do to win a game, don't they do? I
mean everybody believes that they've been so bad. They lost
to Denver, they gotta win a game, Lamar, No, No,
they don't have to. I mean the Bills, the Bills really,
I mean, they've had two tests this year. They lost
both those tests versus Philly and versus the Pats. Everybody else,
(01:09:43):
they play to that level competition and they've handled them.
That defense. Nobody talks about that defense. Nobody gives them
any respect. All they're talking about the Browns or browns
and browns and browns and the public, Like I say,
money is coming in on the Browns, but the actual
transactions it's like a three to one ticket account on
the Bills. So I don't understand that line. But that's
(01:10:06):
why they play the games, as they say. All right,
Patrick Mahomes is back on the center this Sunday against
the Titans. Early odds was Kansas City minus six. Have
you seen any action either way since the news came
down about Mahomes. No, No, it's still still solid six.
The total went up from forty eight to forty nine,
but that's a number that you know. Mahomes back healthy
(01:10:28):
on the road to Tennessee. Tennethee's one of those health
of scale for teams, you just don't know. And without
Mariota and the other guy, I can't even remember the
guy's name from Texas A and M Tannehill. Tannehill, Yeah,
I mean it's Tannehill. So that's all I'm gonna say.
Receiver playing quarterback. But then that's the receiver playing quarterback.
But the last time we saw Mahomes and lost two
(01:10:50):
in a row, so maybe you know they don't have
that much confidence in him coming back. Well, Mahomes, remember
he wasn't one percent healthy, not that he's one hundredercent
healthy now, but I think with the offense with him
behind behind center, with that offense, I mean, they should
be able to cover this on the road. Seven to
six point favorite on the road, they should be able
(01:11:11):
to cover now, all right, sticking him with the AFC,
we think we can all agree that the Patriots got
exposed when they faced a real quarterback last Sunday And
Lamar Jackson does a loss like that effect the way
that you guys set the lines moving forward? You know
there are next four games or against Winter in a lifetime.
Dak Watson and Mahomes, Well, of course, I mean, of
(01:11:34):
course you know, as long as CB twelve is back there,
the line's always going to be the Patriots a favor.
It is just how much of a favor. And even
though the defenses we talked about it a couple shows ago,
the defense is in playing a historic high. Nobody's Lamar Jackson.
And I don't say that because he spells his name
incorrectly with one R, but no one is Lamar Jackson
(01:11:55):
in the league. So so that that's a you know,
that's a big difference when they're gonna face these other quarterbacks.
But yeah, well so I mean Patriots, I can't see them.
You know, we're gonna adjust the line so much as
long as you know, beltcheck, that defense is playing like
their plan and you got Brady back there. We are
joined by Lamar Mitchell, the MGM Grand Race and sports
(01:12:16):
book director in Las Vegas. Lamar, the game I'm looking
most forward to this weekend is Monday night. You got
I think the guy who's clearly the mid season MVP,
Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks traveling to San Francisco
to take on the undefeated forty nine ers. I saw
that the line with San Francisco minus six and a half.
(01:12:37):
What side are the Sharps on in this one? I
can't imagine a lot of folks would feel comfortable betting
against Russell Wilson right now. You're you're absolutely right. Wilson
is one of those quarterbacks like Brady, like Aaron Rodgers.
Unless they just have a dot of a game, they're
always going to be in the game. And so the
sharp money's coming in on Seattle. But we do have
(01:12:59):
some public money as the Niners are undefeated, coming in
on the Niners. But the ticket count is a little
bit over two to one on the Seahawks. But yeah,
I mean Russell Wilson. I think about the last time
that the Seahawks really worked in a game, and that
was because the tire team had a back game. But
usually they always played closer the spread. They're one of
(01:13:19):
those teams that plays closest spread, whether they're a favorite
or whether they're underdog. Hey, Lamar, don't let Chris kind
of talk you in the Russell Wilson what in the MVP? Lamar, right,
he hasn't played anybody. Don't look at that Jankie schedule.
That the same thing he said about the Niners, though,
say you think the Niners haven't played anybody. I mean,
(01:13:40):
the one team that they beat was the Rams, and
the Rams aren't world beaters. Is the Rams? I went
to the Super Bowl a year ago. That was last year.
Last year, I was about twenty five pounds lighter doesn't count.
Now I'll beat them too, And last year and last
year Chris also was good. I'm picking football game, but
this is I read him out of the studio from
(01:14:01):
me out of nowhere. It was. It was a round.
I'm the one wearing Jordan's got my chest. It was
the Clippers versus the Knicks or something like that. All right, lamar,
let's switch over to college basketball. I'm sorry. College football.
LSU Alabama huge game this weekend, Crimson Tide. Six point
(01:14:22):
home favorites seems a little high to me, especially since
two is banged up. Which side of this game are
the Sharps on? Uh? This is a small decision for
us right now, so not a lot of money, but
the Sharps are definitely coming in on LSU taking the
points we're gonna need. Uh, We're gonna need uh Bama
coming in on this game, believe it or not. Wow, Okay, Yeah,
(01:14:45):
it's gonna be interesting. Yeah, it should be a great game.
I mean two is coming back, he's not one healthy.
But you know this LFU offense, it's a matter of
can LSU defense uh Stopbama offense even with the banged
up I've been saying, Lamar, Look, we all want to watch.
This game. Is a big game, but I don't think
(01:15:05):
it's a must win for either team because the playoff
committee will still find a way to get two SEC
teams in the final four. You know, Penn State, Ohio
State have to play each other. So I think even
if one of these well one of these teams will lose,
I think they'll still be in good shape and control
their own destiny. As far as getting into the playoffs,
do you agree with that or do you think a
(01:15:26):
loss really hurts their eyes of getting in. I gotta
agree with you one hundred percent. I don't want to
say that, you know SEC is a favorite conference, but
I gotta agree, especially if Bama were to lose. I mean,
they you know, it's saving and he sets a gold
center in Coast football. And even if LSU loses, I mean,
(01:15:47):
they played a hell of a schedule and to think
that one loss would knock him out that. I mean,
we've had years where there's been an SEC team that
didn't even win the conference championship, was in the playoff
or in the championship around. So yeah, I think they'd
be hard press not to put one or both of
these teams in there. He's Lamar Mitchell so good, he's
(01:16:10):
got his own theme music d M. Jim Graham, Race
and sports book director. Thanks a lot, brother, We'll talk
to you next week. I'm a good week and good luck. Now,
all right, don't call it a come back. Here we go.
I'll be here for years. Rocking my Piers Putting, Parking,
fear making the tears rained down like a mind soon.
(01:16:30):
Listen to Chris go Boom the piece can't pick off
his next A Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure

Rocking My Piers Putting, talking fear making his tears fall
(01:16:53):
down like a mind soon. Listen to the Base go
boom exploding and overpowering Rob Hawk of Time Taken Down
in I messed up that line. Oh man, call the cops.
I'm gonna knock you out round now, how are you
gonna do this? And this is my homeboy? And ll
COJ played in my little league in Jamaica. Queen. No,
(01:17:17):
he was younger than me. I didn't know him, but
he played in the same Orbans. Claim I claimed Saint
Albans too, because my wife is from there, from Saint
He's from Jamaica, Queen. Yeah, and we but we got
married in Saint Albans at the Saint Orbans of Triangular
Church right there next to the park. All was there.
Ello was not there, but no, but we played in
the same Orbans little league. So you know where Saint
(01:17:38):
Orbans is, right, Yeah, you went a birthplace of Oh yeah,
I'm not a ton of rappers coming out of that. Ye.
All right, It's time for the pigs can't pick off?
He retire the odds rich gambling corruption pick off, Yes, sir,
(01:17:58):
it is the pigs get pick off. We do it
every single Friday heading into the weekend. We pick NFL
games against the spread. Rob Parker, as you've been saying
all throughout the show, is what was this last week
you've been there. My good did you hear that? Chris?
Stop talking and let Rob talk? But it tells you
how hot Rob Parker was. He went four and one,
(01:18:20):
and his overall percentage is only a sixty nine percent
right now because the week before you went two and three.
But still, that's what I'm saying you. You were saying
even a little week one slip drops you down a
couple percentages, that's crazy down. He's coming down. I'm still
you're gonna round it off to seventy. I'll take Yeah. Well, Chris,
I want you to stop calling me the elevator. You're
(01:18:42):
sub fifty, am I sub fifty? There? You are? One game? Yes,
all right, I'm about to get over, So let's get
right to and caller to come back. Last week Rob
four and one, Chris one and four. But it's a
new week, Week ten. In the NFL Game number one,
we're picking the Buffalo Bills traveling to Cleveland and take
on Chris Bruce sars eleveland Browns. Brown's three point home favorites.
(01:19:02):
Chrisy you got. I am going with the Cleveland Browns.
They are due. You said it right, Rob park I
don't know if you'll stick with that. But they are
due and I think they I'm not gonna say turn
their season around, but I think they get this one.
Bills have had a lot of close games. Yeah, Bills
in their defense I like, But I just cannot believe
(01:19:22):
that the Browns are gonna lose again. They need to
win a game really badly. It's not gonna turn to
their season around, but somehow, someway they win the game.
I'm taking the Browns all right. Game number two. We
talked about it with Lamar Mitchell. Last segment, Chiefs with
Pat Mahomes back under center. Six point road favorites against
the Titans. Rob Parker, who are you picking this one?
(01:19:43):
I really want to pick uh the Titans, But I can't.
Then you can't do it? Do it? I just can't
because I just this is too many things going on.
I'm just gonna take the Chiefs by default because I
don't believe in the Titans at all. So I got
the Saint Um, I got the Chiefs minus six. He's
playing it safe now I'm not playing the same. It's
gonna try to go to the four corners stall try
(01:20:04):
to win. Nine weeks to go. I can't do that
if this was the last week, tell by the way week.
He's never been there, so he's now. That's what they
do when you haven't been there. You get your lead
and you just hold on. You're playing not to lose
your fa gonna come back. I got Kansas City. You've
been looking at my sheet too, I've looked at your sheet.
(01:20:24):
A couple of picks can't pick up picking NFL games
against the spread. Game number three in New York MetLife Stadium,
the New York Giants three point road favorites. You can
call it that against the Jets, Chris Broussar, who you picking? Look,
I mean both teams are due, that's darn sure. I
look the Jets, Rob, I didn't think they make the
(01:20:47):
playoffs like you did, but I thought they'd be better
than this. I think they're gonna show up. I think
the Jets are gonna win. I'm picking the Jets too,
and I'm picking the Jets. I'm the same way they're
dude for when they've played some pretty bad games. I
think they bounced back. The Giants with Daniel Pennies or
whatever they call him, he's been he's been bad. I'm
going with Sequon Barkley's dad, and I'm picking the Jets.
(01:21:10):
This segment losing all of its appeal when you guys
pick together. Game number four, the LA Rams three and
a half point road favorites in Pittsburgh against the James
Connor less Pittsburgh Steelers. Rob Parker, who you picking? I'm
going with, not the Steelers. I'm going with the Rams.
They get it done on the road. This is where
(01:21:32):
they start to make their push. I'm going with the Rams.
I want to file a complaint. What I think he's
looking at my sheet? Rob Gie, I'm not cheating. I'm
not looking at your got the ms. I went first,
they rob Rob g easily. Chris could have taken the
Pittsburgh he believes it. I know you're gonna disagree on
his last one. Here we go, Vikings at the Cowboys.
(01:21:52):
Cowboys three point home favorites. Chris, who you pick in
Big d little A double l A S. You would
say little d All you said Big d Um, don't
get fired. Go ahead, I'm gonna I'm gonna pick the Fikings.
I love the Vikings in this game. And they bring
(01:22:12):
the Cowboys cut them back down the side. So there
we go so you'll be able to you'll lose one
more game ground to me, this is I'm sorry corners, y'all.
That's what this is. Picked bad games. Chris is like trying.
He can't make it. Left with Leon in the house.

Runnings Colors, Remember Colors back in the day, Hardy and
(01:23:20):
I could go on. That's right. The five heartbeats everything
and he's more than an actor. Used to be a
Division one basketball player, a loyal La marymouth. So he
knows the game. What's it's always good to be here.
Thank you for having me. And he was in the

(01:23:41):
I think we told you last time. He wants to

I'm hardness one weakness otherwise will be that he's not funny.

Things right. I'm glad somebody in the industry, you know what.
That's what I listen to me when that's what they
told Martin Lawrence too before he had his breakout. That's
the same exact thing they said to him. He wasn't funny, right,
all right, all right, well let's let's get into some basketball.
I know that's what Leon came here to do. And
your base here in Los Angeles, No, no, no, New York.
(01:24:26):
You're based in New York, New York. You gotta play, y'all,
here a lot just because your job. Yeah, exactly, exactly
based in New York. We know you're from New York.
You're a Knicks fan. We'll get into them a little later.
Let's start with right, let's start with some relevant topics.
The load management got a lot of people up. Like
(01:24:47):
I said, you played D one, so you know basketball.
What is your take on this low management? Um? I
think load management is it's ridiculous. And explained to me this. Okay,
a player can sit out of a game and not
be hurt, completely disrespecting the fans, ry bulls eye spotting.
(01:25:14):
What you what you hear? Very little of he hears
some people talk about, but very little what we talk
about it. First up, the guy that got two jobs
and goes out there and gets this kid this game
for his birthday because he wanted to see this particularly goal. Okay,
and you're not playing, not that you're hurt. If you're hurt,
we get it. Your son understands, right, Hey, he got hurt,
(01:25:35):
he's got a bad elbowl or whatever. He's not hurt
and he's not playing. But listen, Okay, so we're old
enough to know ballers. Okay, now you tell me how
can a player miss out on a game, okay, a
big game. You know a game is on national television,
great matchup and not be and not and not want
(01:25:57):
to play now not not just do it for the fans,
the players for yourself, right, did it for themselves. It
was like, this is a moment, you crazy, national television.
But I'll tell you what happens. It's exposure. Used to
be how many times was I say the bulls Michael Jordan?
How many times was he on national television? Right? And
(01:26:18):
he would make he would be on that game. Right
what I'm saying now, these these kids on back to back.
He wasn't on TNT, ESPN, so that matchup to him.
Shoot the players we knew back in the day they'd
have a fight with the coach. They tried to keep
by the game, like right right, right now, I look,
I've heard people. I was talking to Earl Watson used
(01:26:40):
to play in the NBA. Play to UCLA. He was
telling me because he's been involved with the travel league.
The AU is TRANSI Travel Basketball. And you know they're
playing four and five games a day. When these guys
in high school are playing so much that by the
time they get to the NBA. Their knees are older
(01:27:00):
than their ages, and so he thinks that's part of
the problem. And he's Ellie right that that doesn't contribute
to it, because you know what, when you play that
much or not just knees, you're playing on growing knees.
Kids are still growing and they're playing four or five
times a gate, so their legs and not even stable yet.
So you try to they're going into the league with
(01:27:22):
problems that guys have been in the league ten years half.
That's right, That's what I mean. And and look, a
lot of people are around the league are concerned about Zion.
Oh yeah, he's had four knee injuries if you count
high school in the last year and a half or
son two years. They didn't need to be concerned. But
tell me this, this is what I really want to know.
(01:27:45):
There's only one way to really stop this, okay, and
it's the old fashioned way. It has to do with money. Okay,
we said, if you know Kawi's gonna come in because
a lot of people tell you. He told the Clippers,
I got sixty five games and the season, then let's
pro rate your contract. No, No, I'm not talking about
the players. Well, I am talking about the players, but
(01:28:07):
it's a little bit different. Let me give you an example.
If I'm starring in a play and I know a
great deal of people are coming to the play because
I'm starring in it. Okay, it's a matinee performance. I
was out a little late last night. I don't feel
like performing. Okay. Well, a lot of people don't want
their money back, rightly, so, But what I don't get
(01:28:32):
I don't get paid. Let a players stop not getting paid.
That's what we're talking about. What we agree with you?
What job do you know when you just don't come
in that day and you get you and you still
get your money. Not that you're healthy, it's a healthy
scratch shose prices too. Come on, now, here's leon here's
what the players need to understand that the next time ESPN,
(01:28:56):
T and T any other network that wants the NBA
go to the negotiating table with them, they're gonna talk
about this because they get hurt. Will be a lower
offer than they're expecting, and that's where that affects the
salary cap. That's where the players are gonna start to
feel it. But the Players Association needs to get involved
because they got all players. Look, you're gonna hurt yourselves,
(01:29:17):
right that that ESPN that that Wednesday, in that game
went from a marquee matchup that people wanted to see
till I was gonna go to the game live. I
didn't go. I was there, right, I didn't know. I
just didn't even go because you bought tickets right now, Okay,
so you are guess so you had the buzz was gone, right,
Yeah it was, but it wanted to be in a
good game. It was a good game. But but that's
(01:29:39):
not the matchup you wanted to see. You wanted to
see both of those guys. Well, I want to see
the teams in full strength, right, I want to see
Paul see if they're not. If they're not, I want
to see these teams at full strength. Yeah, it's look,
I think, and I don't put it all on the
players that you know, they're not doctors. A lot of
the doctors are telling them, look your body and handle it.
(01:30:00):
You're over overworked. But my thing is this, Lee, I'm
most people with high achieving careers are overworked. My wife's
a medical doctor, she's overworked. Lawyers, people on Wall Street
are overworked. People in the NFL, like, don't just single
out the end the NBA players is overworked. And you
(01:30:21):
know on off days you got about a four hours
where you're you know, responsible to the team. You can
rest all you want. Not to mention the offseason. Didn't
you just came off. You just came off of all
up the summer where you had five months off. Really,
how do players make more money and play less? How
(01:30:42):
is that nice? What's that about? And what? And what?
What is? What is your occupation? Are youbody someone's gotta give?
What's your occupation? You're a player? What do you do
you play? That's your occupation? A player played thirty to
forty minutes a game, the same game you've been playing
since you've been eight years old, the same same lines.
You can't do that for a couple one hundred thousand dollars,
(01:31:05):
a couple hundred thousand. I think a part of it too,
and this I think this is true in baseball too.
The basketball players, they used to take the summer off
for a lot of it and rest and then work
yourself in the shape, maybe right before training camp or
during training camp. Now they stay close to pete condition
year round. And I'm not sure that's good for your body, right,
(01:31:28):
I think you need a break. Yeah, but you know,
it depends. It really depends. If you're talking about a
player who an elite player that has been in the
league for a while, well then he has to kind
of manage his body. But when you're an ascending player,
you got to be bawling man and you got to
be working on your game all the time. Well that's
what you're trying to get to these young boys who
(01:31:49):
are trying to get to that next ye. But well
now you do because everybody's working, but you gotta be killed.
Lebron is still work. I think. I think you do
have to be care not to overdo it and not
to to burn yourself out with more than you because
the body needs Russ. I don't care what you're doing, right,
That's why this The body needs Russ our years. You
(01:32:11):
gotta give your body some rest, and they don't do it.
And it's because they're trying. Everybody's working hard, so they
gotta keep working hard. But your body needs some rest.
I mean, look, we got better nutrition, better travel, better
weight training, better diets, everything, and yet in all the
sports spurts, certainly baseball and basketball, you see the players
(01:32:34):
getting injured more, right, so I think they need like
baseball pitchers. We talked about it about the kids who
got the rotator cuffs and all this because they only
pitch now, right, Like you know, you're in high school.
The best player used to play shortstop on the days
he didn't pitch. No, no, no, he's just they pitched
football and basketball, right, and used to play other sports.
(01:32:54):
Now they play one thing and they just concentrate on pitching. Now,
all these guys got all these ar men injuries because
they pitched too much because they're trying to figure out
the game. So they're trying to figure out. Okay, if
I get my kid that just concentrate on this one thing,
one thing, he's gonna get to the league. Right. Nah,
that's it's it's uh. Some of the greatest players who
ever played played multiple sports. A lot of people, Babe
(01:33:16):
Ruth within the NBA are disappointed. The question is, what's
Adam Silver gonna do about it? Now? He's the player's commissioner.
David Sterne. You saw you find San Antonio, what two
hundred and fifty thousand dollars, that's right when they sat
out Duncan Parker and Genoa and that was a big
game against Miami, right, so they got fined what fifty
(01:33:37):
the Clippers for that was for that was for doctor
Doc says Healthy Doc was being to be concerned. He was,
he was, and he got he got clipped for it
because it didn't go with what the story that the
NBA had pedaled out the day before. All right, look, Leon,
we're gonna get to it with you on the Lakers
(01:33:58):
and the Clippers. Those are the two best teams in
the NBA as far as I'm concerned. We want to
hear what you think about that. That is next more
I Couple with Leon Fox Sports Radio Keep it locked.

thin crust pizza topped right to the edge with cheese
and Pepperonio six forty nine and participating in Little Caesar's

(01:34:44):
Angeles with us leon So's. This is the center of
the basketball universe right now. The clip, I think the
Clippers and the Lakers are the two best teams in
the league. Clippers are the best and they don't even
have the other player yet. Yeah, I have to say that.
You know, there's no denying that, especially on paper. But
now as the season is started, yeah, I can say
(01:35:04):
it looks that way. Clippers are the best. Story Clippers. No,
you know, between those two team it's early. I know
you know, it's just way too early to tell. But um,
I think it just depends on how the Lakers gel
for it's on down the season and injuries. Because I
think from top to bottom and the style of which
(01:35:25):
they play, I'd have to give the nod to the Clippers.
I agree with you. From top to bottom, I'm talking,
I'm talking to the whole was one to twelve and
what they have and how they can play both ends
of the floor. Um, I'd have to give them the edge.
But we'll see, right, I think on paper I've said
that they should be the favorite. I picked the Lakers
(01:35:48):
because I felt like Lebron was just gonna be motivated,
and he is, you can see that. But I do
have to admit right now, I think Kauhai is the
best player in the world right now. Yeah, well, definitely
he's the champ. I mean, his game is, you know,
has very few flaws, you know, which is really how
I judge a player. And uh no, it's tough to
take that away. But but if it comes down to
(01:36:11):
two superstars, there's I wouldn't bet against a d and
Lebron showing up at the moments. I would n Lebron's
lost the most championships of any finals of any former
MVP in the history of the NBA, I would bet against.
But do you know what that means? Though? What then
he's probably one of more conference titles. That's okay when
(01:36:33):
I'm talking about that way, man, that's what you'd have
to do to get past the Clippers. Okay, So you're
saying that they have to they have to win. They
don't have to beat the Clippers to win the conference title.
Does Kawhi? I was watching, I mean just watching him
the last year and a half. His game, especially this year,
his mid range game. We are is unstoppable, intoxicating to
(01:36:57):
watch too. I love it because there's not too many
guys are shooting like that. You've heard said it right there,
because the problem is that more players had a mid
rot gage, they'd be more unstopped, right. I agree. Every
time I'm talking to players, I mean someone about the game,
I'm like, if he gets a midrange game because that
the area is open because the out the three point
(01:37:18):
has spread everyone out. You can just get in there
to open and get right inside the free throw line
and just dropping it all day. Some teams push you
toward the mid range because the analytics say that's the
worst shot. They want to keep you out of the
paint and run you off the three point line. Develop
a midrange game and you're gonna be butter. Do you?
(01:37:39):
Does his game remind you of Jordan's? No, really, No,
I don't think he's not nearly as graceful. His game
is not nearly as when people talk about it. To dribbles,
pull up, no wasted dribbles in the floor, and he
plays both that you think that's the other part that
people like. But mid range. Jordan was a mid rangers. Listen, No,
(01:38:01):
he has he has skills that Jordan had, but he
doesn't remind me in any way you know, stetically no, no, well,
even more importantly the athleticism, right, I mean, Jordan was
a freak. We can't remember that Jordan came in the
league of freak. Okay, he jumped over anybody, you know, right,
Kobe's the closest thing we've seen to playing like Jordan.
(01:38:25):
He was a clone kid. He didn't do it as
as well as mine, But there would be Kobe Bryant
if there wasn't a Michael no way. Now, he might
have been a great player in another way, but the
way he plays, it's obviously he studied Michael. The way
he walked, and if you if you ever, if you
ever listened to him talk and not know what the
(01:38:46):
sound was coming from, you swear it was Michael Jordan.
I mean, that's how much is his voice, The way
he walked, the risk man up to the elbow. I mean,
if you look at the thing. I heard a story
about it. He was um man. I think I read this.
But he was on a date with someone and only
one to show him was Michael Jordan's moves and how
he could do exactly the same thing as Michael, Yeah
(01:39:10):
on a date. Yeah, this is like you know, we
first came and there were two other women, so he said,
let me show you what Michael does. That. But that's
the reason why he's so great. It's because he would eat,
drink and sleep basketball, right, I mean he's thinking about
basketball when he's out on the date. So you you
were at the game the other night, like you said,
(01:39:32):
Milwaukee and the Clippers, Yannis Now, yannis Is said, I
don't want to load manage to play play. What do
you think about him? I mean he's in the running
for best player in the world too. Obviously he's a
raining MVP. Right. I picked him to do it again
and right now he might be in the league. I
mean Kauai see this word. It's gonna hurt Kauai. If
(01:39:54):
he played sixty five games. He's not gonna win the
postseason Award. Nope, I don't get how good he is,
how Lee's the Clippers to the division and all the
other stuff. It won't people will take that away from me.
I tend to believe that just from what I've seen.
You don't care about that. No, he cares about the
chip if he wins it. If he has about the
(01:40:15):
chip at the MVP was playoff time comes and all
of a sudden, me saying, wait a second, he got
as many as Lebron. How that happened? That was quick? Yeah,
it would be you know what I'm saying, he would
match Lebron. Think about that this year and to go
to two franchises that story back years that have never
won championships, and I will put you on another plot
(01:40:36):
year with an MVP. But all three times I would
be amazing when it would be huge. Yeah, So you
know it would be hard to make a case for
Lebron again because this is happening. The goat like, no,
but I'm saying to look up Lebron people, it would
be real hard because not only did he win it,
he had to beat the Lakers with ain't right on
(01:40:58):
your watch when you were supposed to be in the
mix this year. So you couldn't act like, well, Lebron
ain't have nobody you want to look at the team.
You can't use that as an excuse. You're right if
you beat them this shear. Yeah, but you know that's
just the way it's going to be. Every time you
look at every great player and they'll even tell you themselves.
They started to be somebody that came up. Man, it
(01:41:20):
was a little bit hard to deal with. And that's
what happened. You're the agent or you're older, and just
like you came in the league and you were that
player when you first came in, and people, yeah, I
don't I can't do no Lebronos. That's like right, bron
was twenty years old and they were playing in the
finals and they were like, damn, what we're gonna do
with this kid? You know what I'm saying, Right, that's
(01:41:40):
always gonna happen. The only one who didn't see that
was was Jordan Yeah, because he was Yeah, and then
when he came back, he was old and nobody. You know,
people are like that. Though I begged the differ. Mike
was leading vote to get it in the All Star
Game when he was with the Wizards and he was
still getting Bucky No. I agree with that. Like he
(01:42:00):
got forty now, I wanted to go see him. I've
said to people, like people say that was a stain
on his legacy. I say it was the opposite, because
at forty years old, he was a legitimate All Star.
But he didn't make it because he ain't was Michael Jordan.
Now great, he was the leading vogetter because his name
was Michael Jordan, because that's a popularity to be an
(01:42:21):
all star twenty points but this rebounds four. But it's
the only thing in the league where more than half
the league makes the playoffs. Even with Michael Jordan, he
couldn't even make the playoffs. Mean, he was the one
thing like he didn't they they missed it by a game,
but they didn't make the playoffs. The times he was
deal how many years? Two years? Two years, I'm just
saying second year or the first year. But you know
(01:42:43):
what that was about. You know why he played tell
us do you know the value of that franchise? Well,
but then they fired him. He got fired even get
to that, he didn't know that. Yeah, what was his name?
A Poland man. That was just shocking. It was like
(01:43:03):
big story. It was a big story. I walked in
thought he was gonna get his ownership shut and they
were like no, dude, you're you're out of here. Back
and saying all right, I'm gonna buy a team. And
two years, every game in every arena sold out. No,
it was it was. I was at his first game
with the Wizards and his last game career. YEP covered
(01:43:26):
him for New York Times game hit the game winner
against the Knicks' you know what, the game I always cherished.
I was at his first major league baseball game in
spring training when he's with the White Sox. I covered
that game, and it was a spectacle because you know,
Michael Jordan at that time to go play baseball, being
a minor, being h spring training, you know, with the
(01:43:48):
White Sox, R and uh. I always remember him up there.
I'm just taking a look at him, like this, Michael
Jordan with a bat and cleats on. He must have
looked huge. Yeah, because he's six right, bell forget how
big these dudes are. Oh be and Michael Jordan are huge, right,
like if they just walked in. Yeah yeah, no, you
don't realize that at all. To be that big and
(01:44:11):
have that athleticism, that's they. I mean, they work hard,
don't get me wrong, but that also is a gift.
Oh yeah, it's beautiful. You can go years without encountering
the person who's six eight exactly. Oh yeah, I don't
know when the last time I just ran into a
regular person who was six eight. Think about that and
then to be six eight and that gifted athletically and physically,
(01:44:34):
Like it's incredible. So all right, folks in the NBA
want to see Steph Curry suffer. We talked about that earlier.
Now we're gonna get Leon's opinion. Does that say more
about them or more about Steph. We'll get into it next,
but first it's our man, Steve de Sager with what's trending.
Steve Pascal Siakam twenty six points in the first half
(01:44:56):
for Toronto tonight at New Orleans early third quarter. Now
it's Raptors twenty seven fifty seven in the lead. A
Pelican's loss would put them at one and seven on
the season. The Knicks are one and seven, but winning
at Dallas late in the first half fifty two forty nine.
Kristaps Porzingis has sixteen points against New York. Also, Golden State,
with a two and six record, is only down sixty
(01:45:16):
eight sixty seven at Minnesota's. They approach mid third quarter.
King's leading in Atlanta with under eight minutes left, one
hundred to ninety three. The Hawks. Trey Young does have
twenty eight points ten assists. The Magic and Pacers each
one at home and Washington at home has just lost
Cleveland one thirteen, one hundred over the Wizards. As for
college basketball, easy wins for Kentucky, Duke North Carolina and
(01:45:39):
fourteenth ranked Memphis, which down to Illinois Chicago ninety two
forty six. James Wiseman seventeen points, nine rebounds, five blocks.
The All American freshman center Wiseman of Memphis is still
eligible after a judge put a hold on today's NCAA
ruling against the player. The NCAA did release an update,
by the way a statement during this game saying whyman
(01:46:00):
is quote likely ineligible. An NHL game in Sweden today
went to Tampa Bay three two over Buffalo. They'll play
each other again there tomorrow. A couple of college football
games tonight, UCF is leading twenty eight twenty four at
Tulsa late third quarter. Coming up in an hour on
FS one, it's Washington at Oregon State. Ohio State star
defensive end Chase Young will not play tomorrow's game against
(01:46:21):
Maryland on Fox TV due to an eligibility issue. Chief's
quarterback Patrick Mahomes will start this weekend Vikings wide receiver
Adam Thieland is out Sunday night. Forty nine Ers tight
end George Kittle miss practice again due to knee and
ankle injuries, and it was Colts quarterback Jacobe Brissette with
his bad knee who did practice this week. He's listed
as questionable. He'll be a game time decision Sunday against
(01:46:44):
the Dolphins. Odd couple back to you, Gay finals Lee,
Steph got there all right? It is the odd couple.
You were able to hear a little bit of our
off the air banter. We're coming you live from the
guy goed Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's easy to say,
team present the more on your car insurance with Geico,
go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred and
(01:47:05):
nine four seven Auto. The only hard part is figuring
out which way is easier. We are joined by the actor,
singer producer Leon also knows a lot of basketball, so
we've been having a ball talking about it with him. Leon.
There was a story today on Bleacher Report that came
out called Warriors No More and it was about how players, executives, coaches, scouts,
(01:47:33):
everybody is enjoying Steph Curry and Draymond Green and the
Warriors but those two in particular, getting their come uppings.
They're upset this. Steph and Draymond are hurt because they
can't punish them. And so that's what the article is about.
Rob G's gonna read a couple of quotes from the story,
(01:47:53):
and we want to get your your view on this,
because I think you're gonna agree with me because Rob's
half baked theories. I'm not having. I'm fully cooked. Just
take a toothpick and put and push it inside of me.
The first quote comes from an anonymous player in the
Pacific Division where the Warriors play, said quote, it got
(01:48:17):
old with the antics. Now that they've come back to reality.
You want to beat the hell out of them. And
see's Stephed with that towel over his head in the fourth.
But the team now isn't the Warriors. You're not gonna
punish Glenn Robinson, Indiangelo Russell. This is about Steph and Draymond.
And the second quote, kudos again to Rodney Hood of
the Blazers. Put his name on it. He said, quote,
(01:48:38):
Obviously they were good before KD, but once they got him,
they took it to another level. But I know for
a fact, particularly with Draymond. When they were on top,
they let everybody know they were on top, and you
felt their presence. But everything comes to an end at
some point. Guys were looking forward to getting at him
without that seven foot monster. All right, Leon, why do
(01:49:00):
you think it seems like Steph gets a little more
hate than your average superstar. What's your take? Well, he
gets more hate obviously because he's won the most awards
and has the most accolades. You hear that, Rob, which
is usually the case. Just like I asked you earlier,
I asked you who do you think was gonna win
between the Alabama and LSU both? He said, you're pulling
(01:49:21):
for LSU. But wait a minute, why because you tie
that Alabama winning and wait announced winking. Now we're getting
to the antics. Well, you tell me in this day
and age, with the way these kids play, who was
winning three or four championships in a row and they're
not acting a full thank you. That's just the way
(01:49:42):
they ask you. They dunk, make a shot, they know
that answers around the court, and so Steph care flex
because nothing flexuse because come on, the only one they
were doing the haul and Globe try to annex the antics.
(01:50:03):
The only thing missing was a confetti. They were having
a party in the stands, rolling around. It was like
what was that old comedy show the No No, No,
They'll rob But they was winning. No, but my thing,
they was winning. What they're saying about stuff, they wouldn't
say this about Westbrook or Hardened. They wouldn't say that
(01:50:24):
about Duran And you know that they wouldn't say that
because they respect Duran and you know it, Leon, they
don't have the same respect for Steph Curry. That's why
they're gonna push him around and take his much. They
pushed him down. Kevin Durant was on the Warriors right now,
right and they were losing. No, they'd be happy therespect,
(01:50:49):
especially Kevin Durant happy. But there were a lot of
people they didn't get over to the fact that he
went there, which I thought it was perfectly fine. They
didn't like him from then now he won two championships
with them, and then also they're getting their ass whooped.
They'd be oh, they'd be happy. You know the bottom
line is that throughout all that and all of stuff
(01:51:09):
is so cute, and he's this and he's that, always
got a perfect life and all this other stuff. You
know it that the other players don't look at us,
and it did not jealous of one, well they jealous
off they're better than you. Say, Really, who's Kevin Durant
Without Kevin Durant? Who else a couple of play I'm
(01:51:31):
just saying, why people rob Rob. I'll just tell you something.
I'm a little bit sensitive to you not liking guys
because they're good looking. Yeah, I'm a little sensitive to that.
You know what I'm saying. Yes, you know, trying to
feel kind of way about that. I understand. But how
(01:51:51):
about where where was Lebron? Where was this talk? This
venom and Venom is talking when Lebron started to get
beat up and he wasn't winning titles. He was going
there and they didn't win. Lebron didn't win. Nobody stepped
out and said the stuff that they're saying about Steph Curry.
But you don't respect you don't think you'd be happy
to beat up on Lebron. But people you think people
(01:52:13):
they say in public they was dumping on him anyway,
where they not? Have they not been dumping on Lebron
like I've never heard before about his drop off, how
he got good I mean, he's where's he ranked, where's
he ranked in the power ranks for players? But wait
a minute, they've been pilling on step for a long time.
There's a did you Chris, you know that you covered
the league? There are guys who don't respect stuff? Would you?
(01:52:37):
And I wouldn't say respect. I'm talking guys like him
if they respect his ability. They dudes don't like that
he doesn't defend or it's not even that because a
lot of point guards don't defend, but he paid the
best players and that he'd point guard that he doesn't
take that. Now you wann't elevated quick? Yes he was
(01:52:57):
the cray was like, it's fifth them talking about I'm
he didn't get crowned until he won the championship season.
Look at that. He was only an All star like
one year before that MVP year. They won one championship
when Lebron was down. Uh take the championship. No, they
won the champ But I'm just telling you so they
(01:53:18):
so so leon right, they win the championship. No Kyrie
and no Kevin Love. So they win that championship. They
go and win seventy three games. He chokes down in
the NBA Finals up three to one. No team in
the history of the NBA ever choked down a three
to one advantage, and then he needed and then he
(01:53:38):
needed Kevin Durant to win the next two titles. They
wouldn't have won without it. To my point, as after
seventy three games without Kevin Durant, and they did and
they lost the champ But they don't mean they couldn't
have come back the next year and won it. I
don't believe. And one game, one game without Draymond, right right,
that was the best player in the series. They relieve,
(01:54:01):
You believe, Rob if Draymond wasn't suspended, he was the
best player of the series. Warriors would have won that series. No,
I don't believe that. You don't think the Warriors would
have won if Raymond wasn't suspended for a game No
Game four, No, I don't because of why Kyrie and
Lebron they beat them. And then here's the other thing.
That's seventy three win season. They didn't lose three games
(01:54:22):
a year or three games in a row all year.
They lost three games in the row to end the finals,
including two at at home. So don't tell me they
choke that down. Okay, great, because now when teams are
down three one, we still watch because it could happen.
Thank you and Rob. You can point to that for
(01:54:44):
every great player except Michael Jordan. Everyone. I can point
to Magic in nineteen eighty four, Tragic Johnson. I can
point to Isaiah throwing away to pass the bird. I
can point to Kareem not making the playoffs and serious
and none of those guys choked down the three to
one lead. It never happened. And the team game. It
(01:55:08):
wasn't one person. You can point to a bad episode
for all of these stars. Not like that. I'm telling
you that took him out of cop. Just it's just
hating whatever someone is successful. A matter of fact, this
is a rule I have in general. Was someone's really
killing it and doing anything. I never said anything about him,
even if I don't like me. You know why, because
(01:55:28):
no matter what you say, you sound like I hated it.
But here it is he wears that but gladly. But
nobody else, nobody of that stature gets beat up like stuff.
And here's the other one. Even Michael Jordan said he
ain't a Hall of Famer. Yeah, yes, he did say that.
(01:55:49):
He's right, He's right. That's there's neither Lebron James. That's
not what he means. Exactly what he said, that's what
he said. Or shoot down? Are you're not gonna shoot
it down. I'm gonna drop facts on you. Do you remember,
hold on, let me finish this. You said, no player
of that stature gets hated on like that. No, not
like about Larry Bird. When Dennis Rodman said he wouldn't
(01:56:14):
get all that white. That was too But it was
Dennis two players I'm in here quoted in an article. No,
because he and then everybody else is anonymous. But there's
been other player game two players whose names are on there,
and here's the other one. Hold on, you can't just
pop that's the legend said that about Larry Bird. No,
(01:56:35):
so how are you gonna shoot that down? Then? I'm
talking about the way that Steph, you're talking about Larry
Bird in the midst of where he was doing his
thing and people were making yeah, but he in the
midst you're talking about right back to the final Steph Curry,
who is accomplished all these things, all these accolades, the
first unanimous player in the NBA, and they still don't
(01:56:56):
give him the straight talking about the first unanimous player
in this league that's been around forever, and they don't
even respect it enough to not do this to him.
Even Michael Jordan, you talk, okay, let's be serious. No,
I'm right, No, you just tried to get away from
the bird. We're talking about young man, very young man
(01:57:20):
who ever't even mature yet hating on another player safety
and they did in high school. It's not a big deal.
Come on, It's called jealous and us. You remember, you
remember what Craig Melbourne when when he asked Michael joined
the question about no, Steph Curry. Steph Curry shouldn't be
(01:57:41):
offended when he watches I hope not. Are you still
a great player? Not a Hall of Famer yet? Though yes,
he said yet he said it up right, But he shouldn't.
Not a hall of famer? Yeah, it is Lebron a
Hall of famer. Yet Lebron is a Hall of famer?
Please is hell Framer yet he's the Hall of Fame.
(01:58:01):
He's not as soon as he retires. And whatever. The
STEP's not gonna be no, stop it, stop it, you
say no, we got more. The couple multi talented Leon
in studio. Keep it locked. Fox Sports Radio. I'll push

the I Couple wrapping it up. Another three hour show
on this tgi F Friday, Funky Flashback Friday. DJ Alex
Tyshon on the Ones and twos and our man Leon
the actor, singer, producer, And it's great to have you here. Man,
you've been You've been showing another side of you that
(01:58:47):
people don't get to see. They just see the actor,
the singer, and they might not know you in the
ball like this. Yeah, I think, but a lot of
people do know. They see me at the game above
the rim of course, players and stuff. Yeah, well above
the ram. Yeah, every player knows that Ibody go to
some basis and any games plays be like chef Chef,
(01:59:08):
I sound like Craig melviourne on that that was at
Craig Melbourne Lab. Nah. But I'm gonna throw this at
you and I have a feeling of where you might
go with it. But Anthony Davis said, this week that
Chicago and then Doc Rivers and there was the other player,
Patrick Beverley, I think doubled down on it. Chicago is
(01:59:30):
the mecca of basketball, hands down. Know if SAMs or
butts about it, and then somebody had to remind them
that Michael Jordan wasn't born in Chicago. I'm sorry when
they say Chicago's mecca of basketball. And what's that you
meet in high school basketball producing the best talent, not
nothing to do with the NBA like as far as
the teams, but producing players that go to the NBA.
(01:59:51):
Now they got an argument, Derek Rose, Dwayne Wade. I'm
missing plenty of people. Doc Rivers is day Thomas is
from Chicago. I'm gonna tell you this. Leon New York
for all this great history, and it was at one
point it was the mecca basketball. There's no way you
can call New York City the mecca basketball right now, Well,
(02:00:14):
it depends on how you judge that. Now, if you
judging it on how many guys are going to the league,
that's well, I mean, how how should be judging because
the league isn't everything. You're talking about the mecca basketball,
so you're talking about kids for the time they seven
eight years old playing basketball on certain levels, and which
is everywhere now something? No, Well, I'm talking everywhere's playing
(02:00:35):
in the playground. But they're not playing in the playground
like New York City. Okay, you go up to the
EBC and Rucker Park. But hold on. But here's the thing.
The best players nowadays aren't growing up on the playground.
They are the best players nowadays. Got a personal trainer.
(02:00:55):
They always play in gyms, they always play in tournaments.
A lot of them don't ever play outside. But no, listen,
I'm not arguing there where the best players come from.
What I'm saying is when you say Mecca, you're talking
about a city with a culture where basketball is like
a culture. Okay, Mecca. That's what you're getting religious on me.
(02:01:16):
I gotta get religious back with you. So what I'm saying,
you say Mecca. So when you go to a city
where basketball, basketball lives and breathe, what city you think of?
If you think in New York because of his hold on,
you don't think Chicago has that. No, Chicago definitely has.
I even La got that too. I would say La
is the mecca as far as producing best players. Yeah,
and I get where you're coming from. Definitely on the
(02:01:37):
indoor level, that's for sure, because they're so funny. When
I came out here, when I went to school out here,
I couldn't believe. I said, now these guys got the
best weather, right they got they can plays beautiful out
It's great here to play. Come by all these parks
and said, it ain't nobody out. I used to go
(02:01:59):
by a park and looking for people. Oh, I had
to look for him. They was there. You had to
hope to get in the game. Did you play at
the Rucker as most definitely? How did you do thirty
thirty SOB players player? No? No, no, I was younger.
I was younger, Yeah, I was. I was. I played
in the Rucker. Did you play in quarter A Royds
like Tommy Supper junior year? Probably? Yeah? Okay, yeah, okay, Corduroys,
(02:02:23):
you hear what he's said. Was that your because because
in that in above the Room we were talking about
Kawhi the mid range Assassin, that's what you were doing
mid range Jay's Was that what your game was like?
I was? I was. I was a three point shooter. Okay,
you know, I mean even back I was about to say,
(02:02:44):
you know how many points out would ever? Well? But
I was also but I was equally a slasher. I
was very fast, a great first step, so I would
slash a lot hanging the air, you know, okay, but
if they if they were worried about that, I would
just shoot on them until they came up for me.
Now you know, I'm on with great job, Leon, You
know you welcome anytime you're back here, come on in,
(02:03:07):
and as the season goes on, there'll be more to
talk about it. It's the odd couple of Fox because
the NBA slash Drew League. That's right, y'all, have a great,
great weekend. We'll see you on Monday. Peace,
