(01:08):
How are you, mister Chris Bussard? I am well, man,
I am well. How was your weekend? Uh? Not bad,
not that I did too many things, but got outside
a little bit some fresh air, but nothing major. Feeling good.
Things really feel like they're opening up out there. Yeah,
a little bit. More stores are opening. I see some people.
(01:31):
I'm not ready to go into restaurants yet, but I
had some people in restaurants you know. Oh really, Oh
I didn't know that, Okay, yep. And I think at
the end of this week, Chris, the gyms and I
did go get a haircut. The barbershops are open, so
I God, yes, thank you. I felt like a million bucks.
And I think this week the gym's open up again.
(01:56):
I think long or the fifteenth, Chris Sol This the
end of the week or the fifteenth, So that's when
you get all your big muscles back. I need muscles,
I do, yes. I don't know. If we go, you're
gonna be posting pictures of yourself or Instagram and your underwear.
(02:17):
I know he's got nothing of going off. I'm a woman.
Only if I was taking that picture that had on
those skivvies, I might have a socket there or something.
I'm gonna move onward from that. I'm gonna move on
from that. I marched this weekend, Rob. I saw the pictures. Yeah,
(02:40):
my family and I marched, and uh, a lot of
people out there, Yeah, a lot of people out there, Chris.
The pictures are trum. I saw all the pictures and
video that you are posted on your social media accounts,
and yeah, I mean, what was the vibe like Uh,
it was when I marched in Jersey. There were some
peaks that you saw probably from a march in New
(03:02):
York too for the King Movement, but my marching Jersey,
it was a nice Obviously, it was very positive. You
had it was mostly white Americans mostly, but there was
plenty of people of color, black, Hispanic, various races. There
were people giving out water, you know, as you walked
by the houses, tons of signs and not just among
(03:24):
the marchers, but like people put banners on their bushes
or houses kind of walking by. One brother was playing
fight to Power by public Enemy at his house and
so it was it was good. And then they had
you know, they rally, had a rally and all that.
So it was good. Man. It was good to be
(03:45):
a part of. And you know, people are believing and
hoping that this leads to real change. And we're obviously
getting into some of this because some of these people
hoping for this, a lot of them actually are at
professional athletes, and we're gonna get into that. But let
me welcome in the I Couple crew. Of course, we
got DJ alex Ty shirts on the ones and the
(04:08):
two's aka Alex the Vegan on the Magic City. Monday,
we got super producer Robed g running things and hey
on the updates. It is my man, part of the
Big Three, part of the Big Three, Brian Finley. So
you know it's a good day for updates. All right, Rob,
(04:30):
let's get right into this thing and we spoke Friday.
Friday was a big day, big day for the NFL. Obviously,
several of their star players, including Patrick Mahomes, say Kwan Barkley,
Odell Beckham Jr. And many others, Ezekiel Elliott, they put
together a video demanding that the NFL I E Commissioner
(04:54):
Roger Goodell would make a statement supporting Black Lives Matter,
saying they apologize for, you know, going against squelching the
peaceful protests of the players and saying that they condemned
systemic racism, racism and systemic racism. So the league get it.
Roger Goodell did it, and not surprisingly, you knew it
(05:19):
was coming, Rob. He got the President's attention. And this
is important because we know, according to a deposition, that
the owners admittedly were intimidated by President Donald Trump when
he turned it and changed the narrative and made it
(05:42):
not about Kaepernick protesting injustice and protesting the killing of
unarmed American citizens. Trump changed the whole narrative to it
was about the flag and that these football players were
dis respecting the flag, when if the reality is that,
(06:03):
don't let the facts get in the way. Right, The
reality is that Kaepernick went out of his way to
be respectful of the flag meeting with Nate Boyer, the
Army Green Beret and right, and Boyer suggested kneeling, because
kneeling in America, at least has never been viewed as
(06:24):
anything disrespectful. You go to church, you kneel down, you pray,
you kneel down, you know. So he said that would
actually be a sign of art, honoring the flag and
the veterans and so and still getting your point across.
And so Kaepernick did that, and yet President Trump changed
the narrative and many fell for it. And now Donald
(06:47):
Trump is continuing that. And here's what he posted on Twitter,
rob just several hours ago around noon this morning. Could
it be even remotely possible? This is direct quote from
President Trump that in Roger Goodell's rather interesting statement of
(07:08):
peace and reconciliation, he was intimating that it would now
be okay for the players to kneel or to or
not to stand for the national anthem, thereby disrespecting our
country and our flag. Rob. This is gonna be interesting
(07:30):
to see how the NFL handles this, and you seem
to have I saw your column was very good column
or dead spend today? Is that your answer to it?
But go ahead and share yep, my answer. The headline
on the column was NFL should drop national anthem, embrace
change and Chris. In that column, they asked Adrian Peterson,
(07:53):
who of course plays for Washington, if he would be
kneeling this season, and he said, without a doubt, I
think it won't be the idea or or of who's
not who's who's kneeling? Chris, The question will be who's
not kneeling? Do you know what I mean? As we
(08:13):
go forward, because of where we are and because of
this movement. So my point was if the NFL one
of the great ladies in the country, and I'm just
talking about uh, iconic businesses, right, one of those institutions
that go back a long way, if they could make
(08:34):
a change, it might lead others into under understanding that, yes,
Chris Uh, the NFL can change. The NFL is willing
to make some concessions and change things. So my thing
is they should eliminate the national anthem. Nobody else in
(08:56):
the country has to do. That has to end up
for the national anthem before they work. Nobody garbage Man,
radio talk show host, Baker's, Chris, Butcher's anybody else, everybody
else gets up takes you didn't say Baker's Butcher's candlestick me.
I was gonna do that close, but nobody, but nobody
(09:20):
else does it. It doesn't make you less less important
or less of an American. Chris, when we go to
the movie theater, do you stand up for the national
anthem before the movie or the event? Did you go to? No?
And remember, Chris, when we were in school and the
pledge of allegiance used to stand up at your desk
(09:42):
put your hand on your heart. Do you remember that. Ye,
schools don't do that anymore. I'm not saying all don't,
but most don't. So that's gone by the wayside. And
and if two things that could come out of this
for the nfl A, you showed that change can happen
and that it's not the end of the world. By
(10:03):
making a change and being you take the pressure off
the players to allow them to be stay focused on
the message and not have the pushback, because there still
will be pushback, Chris from where we are, and maybe
some NFL fans and some people who who aren't down
for the cause, who still don't understand what's going on,
(10:24):
doesn't like it, and we'll have a hard time seeing
all these black players kneeling down come, you know, prior
to football games. So just eliminate the whole thing, and then, Chris,
not forever. If there comes a time when we feel
like this country's in the right direction, people feel together,
(10:47):
there's some real unity, there's some fairness for everybody. Not
perfect and everybody's gonna be treated exactly the same, but
improvement to where we feel good and we're not a
divided country tree and you want to bring that back
and all people feel cool about standing up and doing that,
then you could always reintroduce it. There's nothing wrong with it.
(11:10):
Up until two thousand and nine, NFL players were not
not required Chris to come out of the locker room
for the national anthem. It was only after the NFL
started collecting money. And I'm talking about individual teams. In
two twenty fifteen. No, I mean after twenty two thousand
(11:31):
and nine they started getting teams got like six point
nine million dollars from the US Defense Department and also
from the National Guard. Then the flags came out, Then
all the players have to be standing out, then all
the displays, because it was used as a recruiting tool
(11:53):
for young guys to look at it and say, man,
that's wow, that's awesome. Look at the display and all
that to try to get young people to be interested
in the armed services. So my point is just this,
we don't need all that. The NFL could do a
lot of things if they just decide to step aside
from the national anthem. I hear what your your intention is,
(12:16):
and I think what you're saying is you would save
players the decision of whether or not to kneel or
stand for the national anthem. And let's face it, most
of us black, white, whatever our race or ethnicity may be,
you know, we're not You don't think a lot about
(12:37):
the national anthem when you're at a game. You know,
like you stand out of respect generally. But if they
if I went to a game and there was no
national anthem, I wouldn't really think twice, you know, not
just I just don't you know, you wouldn't think really
think about it. Here's the problem, nor that I see
(13:00):
two of them in doing what in your view would
be actually an act of trying to keep the peace.
On the one hand, you would take away the player's
vehicle for protest, even though it's not about the flag
or the anthem, it is the best opportunity they have
(13:25):
to protest to bring attention to this issue. That's fine,
but it's still part of it. And we're gonna get
to this later. But Snoop Dogg came out well. Matt
Barnes said he talked to Snoop Dogg and they both
have heard from players, NBA players who are and I
talked to some people today and heard the same thing.
(13:46):
Some NBA players they want to play, many of them
want to play July thirty first and onward, but they
are concerned that if they come back and play, they
will take away from all the attention that is focused
on the racial situation in this country, and you know,
(14:08):
they'll be what does everybody say we need a distraction?
They don't want to just be a distraction. Black Americans
are looking at this as a potential sea change in America,
including the great athletes, and so that the attention. You
don't want it to wane, you don't want it to
(14:29):
go away, And so you take away that opportunity. Yeah,
they could wear a black band on their arm or
you know, something like that. Yeah, but that that, you know,
it's not gonna be as strong, in my view as
if they kneel during the anthems. See, And so I
think I think that's one thing. And I think the
(14:51):
second problem is that you will upset a lot of
fans who, like we said, they at this moment in time,
they're somewhat indifferent to the anthem, but they are they
view themselves as American patriots. Some of them even black
(15:11):
like that, but mostly white, who if you take away
the national anthem, they are going to be upset. Donald
Trump will play it and he'll say the NFL has
sold out America, the NFL has taken away the national anthem.
They are unpatriotic. And those fans who will go watch
(15:35):
these players play, even as mad and upset as they
will be that they're kneeling for the anthem, they'll still
go watch them play. They'll still bet money on them
and all that, but they will be highly upset. I
believe if you take away them, they'll get used to
the dude's kneeling. But if you take it away altogether,
(15:56):
I think you could end up upsetting both sides. Now
black people might be like, oh, that's how you do it,
so now you take it away because we were going
to protest, now you take it away. And whites on
the other side, who are on the other side will
be like, oh, really, so now you're not patriotic NFL.
(16:17):
Now you don't care about the anthem, and so I
think you could upset both sides. Yeah, I disagree totally.
I just I think that if you want to have
a talk in this country and a change of things,
this is this is as symbolic as it can be
that they're willing to change. You have to make something big.
(16:37):
It's not taking away anybody's right if they want to
kneel before but Neil winn nil whenever. Whenever they want
to before the game starts. They want to get good,
They want to get into a big attention to that
yes and the big circle and kneel down before the
game starts and have a prayer. The whole that's the
same thing, Chris, that that would be your attention. We're
(16:59):
in you. If all the players before the game kneel
down in the circle in the middle of that NFL shield,
it's the same exact thing. My point is, change is coming,
and you could upset the apple cart of the people
go to the stadiums, But look at the masses in
the streets who want change in this country. That's what
(17:20):
I'm talking about. Well, he want to see a lot
of them want to see people kneeling too, Like they
believe it. They want to see people kneeling at the game.
Then you're right. I'll give you that. You are right
that players could easily gather in the middle of the
field and pray, I think something strong, guys, it will
be great. It would be great. So that's a good point.
(17:42):
But let's see what the listeners think. Eight seven seven
ninety nine on fix eight seven seven nine sixty three
sixty nine Should the NFL consider getting rid of the
national anthem all together? We'll continue the conversation with you. Next,
it's Chris and Robe the Eye Couple. Fox Sports Radio.

(18:25):
hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard part is
figuring out which way is easier. All right, Rob, let's
get to these calls. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
What they think about the NFL getting rid of the
national anthem. Let's start with Willie and Detroit. You're on
the Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Willie?
The NFL should consider taking out because the NFL owners
(18:48):
have always been about pay to play patriotism, where they
take money from the Department of Defense to honor people
that should be honored for free. So I really believe
they should take it out. They shouldn't be collecting a
check to say that, oh, we should respect our military.
And you know what, Willie, that probably is the most
(19:09):
shameful thing the NFL has ever done teams taking money
and then they parade these veterans out to get the
big ovation. But it's it's paid patriotism. If there's nothing
worse than that. And I wonder if if fans knew,
if you were at the stadium and you knew that
that the Defense Department had to spend money for that
guy to come out, if you would react the same way, right, right, Chris,
(19:33):
I mean that that's one of the it's just low,
like really right right. I can't believe it. All Right,
Monty and Georgia, you're in the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Monty? What's going on? Man? What's up?
Brother man? Long time listener? First time? Can we broke through?
We broke through? Man. Look, I'd be working a lot,
(19:56):
so I don't really much get a chance to to
really how let you uh, but I listen to see
what what what your what your ridd is, what you're
thinking about, what I'm thinking about, and see if it
match up. Rob. I like you and then sometimes I
don't like you. Right, I'm gonna just be a buck,
right ye. If we take away the protest, then we
(20:19):
silence the movement, right Like if if they're not able
to see what's really happening now here there's no protests
on display. Then you you mean, hold on, hold on, listen.
You mean you mean like the pictures from Europe and
all the people across the world. No, hold on, I'm
(20:42):
talking about what we've seen so far. You're telling me
that if all the players go to the center of
the field before the game and cover up the NFL
logo and and lock arms together on their knees, that
that's not gonna be powerful. You don't need the anthem.
You don't need but right, Rob, Rob, Rob, What I'm
(21:05):
saying is if we're going to we don't need reformation.
In my opinion, my opinion, and this is my humble opinion,
we don't need reformation. We need transformation. Reformation is changing
around things in a room. Transformation is changing the heart.
I think we need to transform the heart. And the
(21:25):
only way that we transfer transform the heart of America
is if they see the pain that we go through.
I don't want to be opposite of my white brethren,
nor do I want to be opposite of my black brother.
I'm I'm, I'm absolutely true with my black brother that
the things we have to clear up amongst ourselves. All right,
(21:50):
appreciate the call. We could agree to disagree. I'm glad
that you called in. How about JT in Texas? You're
on the eye couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up JT? Hey,
how's it going? Guys? Really enjoy you'll show man than
I was calm because I think I think we might
be missing the mark, maybe on on both sides. Because
(22:13):
one of the things, um uh, that I think that
we need to do is do a more inclusion than
the execution. And if you if you get rid of
the anthem, right, you end up uh well, let me
let me start a little bit. Let me let me
backtrack a little bit. For real change, like in the
sixties and seventies, right, Uh, you had you had to
(22:34):
have a lot of different groups come together, right, And
you had obviously the black community, right, and then he
had liberal white, and then he had moderate white. You
even had like the carttergy, you had religiously. All these
people had to come together to force change, right. And
are we in a We're kind of in a similar
moment right now, right, And I think if you get
(22:57):
rid of the anthem, I feel like you might end
up moving some of the moderate whites out there. I disagree.
I think that there are a lot of people out
there who are looking for change. You seeing there pulling
down statues of questionable and bad people all over the place.
There's gonna be all kinds of stuff. We got a
(23:17):
story coming up in a little bit with Kevin Eucolus,
who used to play a Major League baseball and the petition.
Chris I thought I would never see where they want
to take the name off of the universe as Cincinnati's
a baseball stadium. March shot, who is the racist owner
of the Reds? Is this is going around? This is
(23:39):
not just stopping. People are looking back even in history
to say, well, what are you doing that for? She's dead?
You know what I mean? She gave two million dollars
to the school or whatever. This is a movement. I
think that's bigger than normal. All right? Would NFL players
be on board with the league getting rid of the anthem?
Super Bowl chap and Chris Canty has the answer. Next,

for having me on. I hope your families are doing
(24:43):
well and staying safe. Thank you, man, we are and
we hope the same for you. And it's been a
while since we've seen you, so it's definitely good. Good
to wrap with you. Let's get right into it. Obviously,
there's so much going on. I know Rob's gonna have
a question about this right in the moment, but I
want to ask you, do you think that right at
this moment, most or maybe all players in the NFL
(25:08):
are going to kneel for the national anthem? If it
be if you know when the season resumes or when
they start. I think a lot of cbe. I think
a lot of players are going to have some form
of protests during the national anthem. I know Adrian Peterson
went on the record this weekend and said he thinks
a lot of guys around the NFL will protest and
(25:29):
take a knee, not just the black players, but all
the players, and so I think you'll see solidarity on
that front. Cliff Kingsbury came out this afternoon and said
that he would support his players out in Arizona protesting
during the national anthem, including taking a knee. So I
think there's a dramatic shift in the minds of the
(25:50):
people that are running the league office, but also the
people at the club level in the NFL. When the
bigwal family has shown the way that they have shown
that they want to support their players and being able
to process everything that's happened over the last couple of
weeks and the fight for racial inequality, I think that's
that's that's sort of a barometer in terms of where
(26:11):
I think a lot of NFL teams will will end
up moving toward ultimately trying to empower their players and
amplify the message that they tried to silence four years
ago with College Japannick my today, I wrote a column
for deadspin dot Com, basically saying that the NFL should
just remove the national anthem altogether, that nobody else has
(26:34):
to stand up during the national anthem before they go
to work, other than players and sportswriters and fans who go,
you know, as far as they for their job. What
do you think about that where you just take it
out of the mix? The focus days on what it
is that we're talking about. It's not about the flag.
(26:54):
And then if people want to just kneel together in
the circle as a show of solidarity on this situation,
but you removed the flag totally from the conversation. Where
are you on that? Well, I don't think it's necessary.
I think we're in a different place than we were
four years ago as a country, and I think that
you have overwhelming support for people from people that would
(27:18):
that would believe in the players demonstrating in that fashion
during the national anthem. I don't think that we have
to remove the national anthem from sporting events in order
to keep this from being a national controversy. I just
don't think we're there. I think the needle is moved
in terms of, you know, how people view this particular
(27:40):
issue just because they recognize the urgency that we need
to have in fixing racism in this country. I think
that when we saw the video of Derek Shavin kneeling
on George Floyd's neck for over eight minutes, that was
enough for America to look itself in the mirror and say,
(28:00):
you know what, We've got to do something to fix
this because this isn't right. And the reason why George
Floyd is dead in part is because he's black, and
that has to change. And that's what the players were
talking about in twenty sixteen, and so to try to
manipulate the message, or manipulate the message, or misrepresent what
the protest was actually about, I think people have moved
(28:23):
beyond that now with everything that we've been faced with
the last two or three months, with the pandemic and
now this, I think folks recognize that what we were
talking about back in twenty sixteen was never about disrespecting
the men and women of the armed forces, and it
was never about disrespecting the flag. But it had everything
to do with forcing America to live up to the
(28:44):
ideals that the flag is supposed to symbolize. Super Bowl
Champion FS one, NFL analyst Chris Canty joining the Eye Couple. Chris,
you saw the players video that they made demanding a
statement from the NFL. Roger Goodell basically said exactly what
they asked him to say on his video. I feel
(29:05):
like to make like, if you apologize for squelching the protests,
which that that's what Goodell did. He apologized. I feel
like you have to at least I don't know where
Kaepernick's head is at right now. Would he even want
to play in the league, Would he think it was
just a PR stunt and rejected or what. But I
think he should be offered a job in the NFL.
(29:29):
And do you feel that way, and do you think
players maybe should push for that. It was a tough
choice that the rest of the players in the National
Football League had to make the twenty sixteen because you know,
guys were concerned about their career mortality if they decided
to support Colin Kaepernick's protests alongside them. And I think
their concerns were justified because we've seen what happened to Kaepernick.
(29:53):
He's been out of football for the past They can't
get rid of the whole league, Chris, And that's that's
the point I did unity, they cannot get rid of
the whole league the players union. This week they allowed
the Rob Rob Listen, I'm not gonna argue any of
the points that you're making because listen, if we did
(30:13):
have solidarity to that degree in the players union, we'd
win every single collective bargaining agreement negotiation. But you know
that that that's not what happened. So the reality is
the NFL players and the union are faced with some
pretty tough constraints because of the nature of the sport
and the duration of the career span you're talking about
(30:35):
a little over four years. Players aren't willing to sacrifice
any of those those potential earning years for the greater good,
and that's what you would be asking them to do.
So I just think that's a tough ask. That's a
tough position to put players in. You know, they've worked
their entire lives to get to this point, and to
(30:55):
have their dream taken away from them for a political
well not even what should be a political stand, but
just a human right stand, it just seems like it's unfair.
But now that Roger Goodell has this submission that the
NFL was wrong, I think that sets the tone and
that changes the dynamic in terms of opening the door
for players to protest in that fashion. In twenty twenty,
(31:17):
that Kaepernick is back, gets offered a job, or do
you think the NFL should or will do that? Well,
it's tough to say, and I know that sounds like
a cop out. I don't know that there's anything that
Roger Goodell can do. He can remember, team can remember
Michael Sam No, no, listen, I don't. I don't think
(31:38):
that there's anything that Roger Goodell can do to mandate
that a team higher Colin Kaepernick, because then you start
getting into the weeds with collusion and things of that nature.
But if the NFL is serious about It's inspired change
social initiative and the programs and the funds that they've
raised for changing you know what's going on with social
(32:03):
injustice and racial inequality, then why not offer Colin kaeperick
Colin Kaepernick a position within the league office in order
to help facilitate that. We know the work that Colin
Kaepernick has done. This guy has literally put his money
where his mouth is with to Know Your Rights camps
and all the other work that he's done with grass
groops organizations in communities to fight against racial inequality and
(32:25):
systemic oppression. So I think that that would be a
tremendous sign that the NFL wants to be at the
forefront of this fight against racism in this country if
you were to try to involve Colin Kaepernick in an
official capacity. We saw the partnership that Roger Cadell rolled
out with Jay Z last fall, and they were talking
about trying to tackle the issues. You know, everybody knows
(32:49):
what Colin Kaepernick was kneeling for. Jay Z said it.
We all know why I was kneeling. But I haven't
really heard a lot about the in roads that the
NFL has made with the programs that they were talking
about starting. I haven't heard a lot about the work
being done through those initiatives. So I think now we'll
be an opportunity for the NFL. If they're truly about
(33:09):
change and they want to try to write this wrong
with Colin Kaepernick to some degree, they need to try
to involve him in an official capacity. I don't know
if that leads to him playing football on the field
this fall, but I'm not I think the NFL needs
to revisit that chapter with Colin Kaepernick in order to
try to figure out a way forward. All right, that's
(33:30):
our man, Chris Kenny, Chris, thank you man. We appreciate
the knowledge, sir, and we'll get you back on again soon.
Stay stafe with your family. All right, sounds good, guys.
All right, brother, the hottest game in radio is coming
up next. Sources say it's the Eye Couple Chris and
Rob Fox Sports Radio. Oh, be sure to catch live
(33:50):
editions of the Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Alright, it's
the Eye Couple Chris and Rob, and it is time
for your favorite segment. Sources says say these two have
(34:11):
been covering sports for nearly three decades. Apiece, I will
say this, let's put the big ja journalist to the test.
Its sources say, that's right. It is. Sources to say
the Eye Couple of Fox Sports rad to do is
every single Monday, eight forty five pm Eastern where we
uh challenge Chris and Rob to put their one hundred
and eighty seven combined years of journalism experience to the
(34:33):
test is even tell a different between a good source
and a bad source. So let's get started, guys. Story
number one, my sources say that the Baltimore Sun published
an article with quotes from Patriots owner Robert Kraft about
the return of the NFL, with a headline that read,
quote Robert Kraft sees a happy ending for the NFL
Christmas started. My source is good. I'm gonna say that
(34:58):
that is fall. I think that's true. I think they
tried to work it in. Oh, of course it is.
Come on, Chris, that's a right headline. That's a right headline, Yes,
out of the Baltimore Sun. Right. It normally would be
on the fun page of the New York Post. Aaron
Rodgers had some beautiful balls. Well, keeping that in mind.
(35:21):
Story number two, my sources say that adult entertainment website
strip chat has biden fifteen million dollars for the naming
rights for the New Orleans Superdome. Rob Parker, my sturs
is good. What's it called? Strip right? Striped chat? Oh,
strip Chat, I'm sorry, stripped Chat. I'll say yes, because
the other one was trying to get the stadium in
(35:44):
Miami a porn site or whatever. So I'm gonna say, yes,
that is true. Yeah, I think that is true as well. Oh,
the strip Chat Superdome sounds good to me. They try
whatever they can. Story number three, Rob park up two
to one over Christ. We're sorry. My sources say that
pro gambler Vegas Dave sold a Mike Trout rookie baseball
(36:07):
card at an auction a few weeks ago and it
fetched a whopping nine hundred and twenty two thousand dollars.
Rob Parker, my source is good. I'm gonna say, no,
that's not true. I think he got that amount of money,
but it's with somebody else, not him. Yeah, I think
it's false. Oh wow, really for a Croud card yep,
(36:29):
one of one. He said he paid one hundred and
eighty grand for it two years ago and he got
and he got a twenty two thousand. That's unbelievable. I
thought it would be somebody else, you know. Blow. I
know Baseball cards is still of all the trading cards
up there, but yeah, sir, they're the biggest, right Because
I thought I saw something about a Jordan card going
for like sixty five grand or something, right like, it's
(36:51):
not even close. That's chump change. All right, here we go.
Story number four, Rob Parker, still up to the one.
My sources say that former RAMS running back Trunk Cannon
was pulled over for a Dui and Arizona over the
weekend and at one point try to get out of
it by screaming quote, I know Kurt Warner, Chris Bruissard, All,
my source is good. I'm gonna say that that is true.
(37:14):
I know Kurt Warner. Oh god, all right, I'll say true.
You sit on a throne of file. Wow. All right,
here we go. Story number five. My sources say that
Dana White says he's willing to give two hundred and
fifty grand to charity off ESPN radio host Dan LeBatard
agrees to fight him in the octagon. Gosh, Rob Parker,
(37:36):
my source is good. How much did you say two
hundred and two fifty? Yeah, I'm gonna say that's true.
I'm gonna say false. It was more. Oh my goodness,
on a magic City Monday. Give me some dollar bills.
Rub my back. Call me big daddy, Yes, yes, big daddy.
(38:00):
Oh yes, look man, keep it keep it peg all right.
Hope be up in here, moaning and growing in. I'm
a little moist right now. Fox Sports Radio has the

FS one on both Twitter and the Grand We'll be
joined by Kevin Eucolus, the two time World Series champion,
on with us and in about twenty nine minutes at
the bottom of the hour. That should be a lot
of fun. I'm looking forward to that definitely. Yes, Yes,
(39:04):
you know him personally, No, I don't. Cole Wright, you
know who it's a fund of ours. Yep. Uh just
raves about you and says he's a great guy. I
don't know him personally. I've been around Chris and you
know Scrums interviewing him, but I don't know him personally. Okay,
all right, well let's get right to it. Rob, you
(39:27):
probably liked this misleading article that was in a journalist
and say that is misleading and the misleading w you
stopping it'll lead people to erroneous connois just because don't
fit your narrative. You just doesn't fit your narrative. Now,
Chris got his pennies in a bunch on this s
(39:47):
Magic City Monday. It says Aaron Rodgers has the highest
playoff war wins above replacement since two thousand and six.
To the Matrins have two of the two top players
who are nine quarterbacks, that's Julian Edelman and safety Devin mccordy.
(40:09):
Rest of the top five or four a is Ed
Reid Top five Ed Reid and Richard Sherman. So, uh,
I you you cape up for Aaron Rodgers and I
imagine you think this is some type of vindication for
why he has only appeared in one Super Bowl during
(40:31):
his fifteen year career. Chris, is that fair? No? That
that that's the weakest thing to just put it all
on in you. No, that's so that's so weak as
if it was his fault that the tight end misty
on side kick in Seattle, or is it his fault
that the defense gave up forty or more point in
five playoff games. They're looking at taking in what he
(40:53):
was able to do, trying to say all the other stuff.
Let me cut to the chain. No, I'm just trying
to tell you that you're in the playoff than Tom Brain.
Yes he has been, Yes he has with your chess.
That's all I'm trying to tell you. When I'm done
with you, you go ahead, go ahead and make a
little weak argument and they weak. It's because they're taking
(41:13):
the ring. But that has nothing. He's undefeated, is what
he's got. He's got undefeat. He's undefeated. Tom Brady's lost.
So really, you rather be six and three in the
super Bowl or one in Oh, I don't know, ask Lebron,
would you rather be I'm defeating like Michael Jordan Lebron,
I'm just asking to be six. I'd rather be perfect
(41:34):
perfect chess perfect, or I'm perfect one thousand. You can't
get any better than that. Why he got one s?
By your admission, Rod Parker, he is not qualified for
the goat conversation because he's only been there that, yes,
but that doesn't mean that he hasn't been better since
two thousand and six. When you when you take everything
(41:56):
will consideration conversation because when you talk about other stuff,
it is about multiple when you're gonna adds. Because because
of Joe Montana's four and old three eleven touchdowns, no picks,
three m vps. He went two with Jerry won two
without Jerry Dy. I'm just telling you Rogers numbers. Why
(42:20):
darn Rogers and has far been a better quarterback. And
we know this. Tom Brady has been very lucky. That's
why people have adopted No, no, no, other people have
adopted it because rob rob he understands what I'm talking about.
(42:40):
Alex understands the load, am I right? Those guys and
they're around, they understand what they do, not what rob
GE's not to be trusted on any Brady conversations. Why not,
he's a design Let let me just give you the
impartial stats just because yes, no, well because both already
(43:03):
with the note, both of these stats help you eat
the bode. Just let me get you play. Let me
give you the numbers, and you tell me when you've
been better, Alex hit it. Call me when lebron has
six championships. It's the only argument I need, Sean argue,
(43:25):
I need Rob six Super Bowl rings. Yeah, but when
we talk about step Tot, we talk about step Crue,
it's the same exact thing. Just gets there, can get there,
Rob G, can you please give me those? All I'm
gonna give you is the numbers is two thousand and
six in the playoffs. Now, Chrissy, I think you'd want
(43:46):
to hear this because some of it would make you
look better, all right. Tom Brady twenty and ten, sixty
three percent completion percentage, two hundred and ninety seven yards
per game, which is about oh what is that? Forty
more than Aaron Rodgers, which is fifty eight touchdowns, thirty picks.
QB rating of about ninety, which is very good. Aaron
Rodgers ten and eight, so he's not winning as much.
(44:08):
Sixty four percent what is your favorite? Saying Rob Parker,
what's your favorite? Can we hear Rob Ge? Stopping menu?
Rob A short menu? Wins and losses? Sixty four percent
completion so about the same as Tom Brady. Wow, two
sixty five again for never getting to the Super Bowl
(44:28):
except once. Two sixty five yards per game, so a
lot less than Brady. But forty touchdowns, twelve picks. QB
rating of one hundred, one hundred ain't even close. It
ain't even close way, that's what. Ain't even close. Slinging it.
It ain't even close to win. He don't throw them away, Chris,
stop numbers in your He just throw it away. Are
(44:50):
you just serious? Do you watch him the length? You
talk about those once every three possession? Stop it, Chris.
And here's the other thing. Chris doesn't want to own
up to it. He knows that Brady's been very lucky.
Tom Brady could easily have one Super Bowl win if
it wasn't for three teams melting down and making bad plays.
(45:11):
Tom Brady is overrated when it comes to the big games.
He just is. He's been afforded the the luxury of
having things handed to him, including an interception in Seattle
and an uh an out of bounce kick against Carolina.
I could go on and on Atlanta blowing at twenty
(45:32):
eight to three leading the second half. If you, if
you're really honest with yourself, he hasn't been that guy.
And all those early Super Bowls were all about Adam Vegetari.
He hasn't been that dominant or that great as a
as a as a quarterback. Are you done? This is Sam? Wait?
(45:53):
One last s one last thing, one last thing. Okay,
here's Tom Brady's highlight years by Tom Brady. All right,
do we go? Rob Parker, I'm gonna shoot you down
with your own words. Number one, Rob Parker's favorite saying,
it's the short menu when it comes to wins and
(46:15):
lost it. It's a short menu. Your don right, it's
a short menu. And here's what the menu says. Brady
six Rogers one, Brady nine Rogers one. The second most
favorite saying from Rob Parker. Anybody can win one. That
(46:40):
doesn't separate you. Anybody can luck up and win one.
If Aaron Rodgers is so great, why is he only
got one? Because anybody can win one. Tom Brady gets
it done. And how dare you call him lucky when
(47:00):
he has more than twice as many more than twice
as many game winning drives in the playoffs as any
other player in the history. He's got thirteen game winning
drives in the playoffs, second John Elway with six, Third
(47:22):
Eli Manning with five, your boy, Aaron Rodgers has two,
Rob Parker two because he's usually ahead, he doesn't fall
behind like to Oh really, if he's a hand so
much and he needs he needs a break, championship, he
needs and a certainly he is Jimmy Garan and he
(47:43):
needs a break in order for him to complete the deal.
Somebody has to choke in order for Tom Brady to
have that chance. Why has he got thirteen game winning drives?
Six of him in the Super Bowl? Oh and you
know what, he's actually won six super Bowls, So every
single super Bowl he's won, he has led the game
(48:04):
winning dry here and he had a few more of
them if Belichick's defense would have held up. Okay, here's
the other, the other one that you're talking about. They
were eighteen and no and Tom Brady somehow chuckled at
the notion they were scoring thirty five points a game
(48:25):
that was supposed to be the greatest team ever assembled
in NFL history, and Tom Brady was held to fourteen points.
That is exhibit A on how when it matters most,
Tom Brady doesn't show up for the big games. Really,
that was the big game with Randy Moss. Yes, just stop.
They were supposed to be that Giants team that was
ninety seven? What happened there? Chris? He couldn't even got
(48:49):
fourteen points in that game? No, Bady, Lord, he's got
three Super Bowls? How didn't they win the first three
Super Bowls? Adam Vinetarry winning drives? Who put video position?
Who put Vinetarian position to kick the field goals? Why
can't Rogers do that? He got a field goal kicker?
(49:09):
Why can't he do that? Did Rob? I like Aaron Rodgers.
He is a great quarterback and all time great quarterback,
but he is not Tom Brady. He's a better physical
specimen than Tom Brady, but he doesn't have the intangibles.
(49:30):
I keep trying to teach you quick. You know he's
talking about something When it comes to that, that's what
you don't Intangibles are important to quarterback play. If it
was just about the physical tools, Montanna wouldn't be in
the Gold conversation. It's about the intangibles, and Aaron doesn't
(49:56):
have him nearly as much as Brady should. Say A
simple is that Brady's proven it. And you want to
give all the credit to Belichick? Where was Belichick before
Drew Bledsoe got hurt. Blue Drew Bledsoe was a very
good quarterback in his own right, but with Belichick is
(50:16):
his coach. He went five and thirteen. Brady steps in
and saves Belichick and the rest is history. Yeah, Belichick
won two Super Bowls. That defensive coordinated with the Giant.
It's nothing all of the other Super Bowls. Does Chris
stop it? You could stop and try to poop through
it all you want. They who play within the game.
(50:37):
The last Super Bowl against the Rams, they they won
mess thirteen to three. Who was there was Tom Brady
tr goteen to three. We're gonna give him credit to
thirteen to three. Cords that that was the high PA.
That was a high flying Tom Brady special team roteen
to three. That was the school. Who was the wide
receivers coach? You give him something, Let's do what you want.
(50:59):
You want to talk about Tom credit thirteen the three
was a score. Tom Brady threw a pick. He didn't
even throw a touchdown in that in that Super Bowl.
But you want to say that it's all about Tom
Brady is a total Joe's favorite. When they beat when
they beat say Louis twenty to seventeen. They don't even
score a lot of points. When they lost to the
(51:20):
Giants seventeen fourteen, Again tom Brady. When they lost to
the Giants the second time twenty one seventeen, tom Brady.
Those are on big scores. They're always squeaking out whenever
they do win. Because Tom Brady hasn't performed that well
in the Super bowls. Okay, hold on Tom Brady at
least wins and his numbers in the Super Bowl, no
(51:40):
matter how his worst numbers in the Super Bowl aren't
like this. Aaron Rodgers in four NFC Championship games, here's
his numbers. Rob He's thrown for one thousand and thirty
five yards. That's about two hundred and fifty yards a game,
nick touchdowns, and the guy who's magic in the regular
(52:04):
season and never throws picks in the NFC title game
for some reason, that's all out the window because he's
got seven interceptions, six touchdowns, seven picks in four NFC
Championships games. If he were better in those games, maybe
he'd have more rings or at least more Super Bowl appearances.
(52:26):
Stop it. You want to check the scores of their
defense giving up Aaron Rodgers these forty points. Tom Brady
has happened one time in his entire career. It's happened
to Aaron Rodgers four times. Aaron Rodgers has not delivered
(52:48):
in the big moments. By the war, Christ, by the war,
No get hitted, Alex, Alex, please don't pit a Please, Alex,
please don't pass up. Call me when Lebron has six championships.
It's the only arguments I need, Sean, That's right, it's
the only argument I need. Rob, Who's the better really quarterback?
(53:14):
What did you did you tell? Chris? That's so corny?
And it does in the morning, Right, it's corny. You
you got nerve talking about corny? Who's been the better
playoff quarterbacks? Playoff quarterbacks since two thousand and six? It
should be an easy when Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers,
we will continue the conversation with you. Next Chris and
(53:35):
Rob The Couple Fox Sports Radio finish. Call me when
Lebron has six championships. Told me, it's the only arguments
I need, Sean. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Alright, it's robbing Chris on
(53:59):
a Magic City Monday. That's right, and uh we brought
to you by Geico because although we're apart these days,
we're sharing more and Geico sharing more too. With the
Geico Giveback. It's a fifteen percent credit on car and
motorcycle policies for both current and new customers that last

(54:21):
for info and eligibility. All right, let's get to the calls.
Rob who's been the better playoff quarterback since two thousand
and six? Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers? All right, Sam
in New Jersey, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? Sam? Hey? Rob? Hey, Chris. I'm
actually a Packers fan, but I'm gonna have to agree
(54:44):
with Chris. I mean, Tom has six and everyone only
has one. Not about It's not anybody I've heard. That's
how it was determined. That's what I've got. Help them enough.
But six to six? Man, No, miss, you're missing the point.
(55:05):
We're not. We're not counting the rings most of them, Warri.
We are. We're talking about who's been the better. We're
talking about the conversation, and since two thousand and six,
his career has been longer than that. Uh, Robert and Georgia.
You're in the yard couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey
(55:27):
you guys, what's going on? Man? What's up? Bro? Look,
I'm not a fan. He's a one on them, but
I have taken one. I would take Hearon Rodgers. But
listen to me about Tom Brady. Tom Brady ain't no
luckier quarterback in the NFL history than Tom Brady. He
played in the weakest division, so he gets to the playoffs,
(55:48):
he gets home feeling it's thirteen. Let me ask you this,
Hold on, hold on, ask you this. It's thirteen game
winning drives twice as much as anyone else in the
history of the NFL. Luck luck, it's not he's been.
Stop stop If that's not luck, stop it. Chris Can
you don't want to listen to what because you got
(56:12):
no argument? Chris, you just shot down your entire argument.
Let him talk ahead. The reason why he got a
lot of opportunities because of the day the day sense, Man,
come on, man, you gotta make good an opportunity. It
is make good. It's about it's about the defense. Stop it.
His arguments as bad as yours. Rob, No, it's it's
(56:36):
called sense. And you don't have any pastor J sense
plastor John in Florida. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. How you doing. I'm blessed to gentlemen.
How are you doing? Yes, it's good to have you on.
Thank you, sir. I got a bone to pick with
you young a few months ago. I'm a pastor, so
(56:57):
I don't get to get on the radio. You much,
you guy. But a few months ago you asked for
our black coaches to get an opportunity to coach, but
to give him at least a decent quarterback or run him.
We don't want anything. We want an opportunity to coach.
There's been so many white coaches that has had nothing
to coach with and have failed. Just give us an opportunity.
We're asking for an opportunity, you know, That's that's all.
(57:24):
We're asking for one chance, one chance, And they keep
and I keep watching them go back to the well
so many times, and how our coaches that have failed repeatedly,
repeatedly with other teams, and it still take a gamble
and they fail there too. If they have a record
of failing. Man, come on, get somebody that may fail,
(57:48):
but he may surprise and give you more than what
you think. And I got news for you. If we
have a Black Brothers a head coach, I believe the
players are gonna play a lot harder. They want him
to succeed as much as he wants them to. Say, So,
what's your bone with us? What's your bone to pick
with us? Because you didn't die, We haven't disagreed with
anything you said. No, my bone was is that months
(58:09):
ago you asked that we get an opportunity and one
of you said, I'm not gonna say which one because
I don't remember, but we said, at least give us
a team with a decent quarterback or a running back
or some kind of defense. That was one of the
remarks you made. And I said to myself out loud,
just give us a team. We just want a chance.
I don't care who's playing, because some of the best
(58:31):
ones in the league that they have spent millions on
have turned out to be flapped. All right, that's pastor John, right,
very nice, Chris, And he said, do you know what
off the air, He said, your argument for Tom Brady
was blasphemous, but I keep that out of your stand up.
(58:51):
To Speaking of which, when is this stand up going?
We need We're in a pandemic where we need to
let your stand up. We're gonna do a whole segment
on what's up we'll do. We'll do it what you call.
We're ready. I'm gonna give you what's today? What's today's date?
The seventh? June seventh? Is it the eighth? Good June eighth?
June eighth? All right, we want to do it before
(59:13):
after fourth of July. Man, just do it. It's been
a year and a half. All right. Here we go,
pick a date one month, July eighth. What day is that, Rob,
g Is that a good day? July eighth? A Wednesday day?
All right? A worship Wednesday. Can we do it on
a worship Wednesday. You're gonna keep it gay. I'm trying
(59:35):
to hold onto my little gig. All right, No, this
is what we'll do. This is what we'll do. We're
gonna make it. I want to give it as true
to Rob Parker as possible. We will record it when
we do the Inside the Parker Podcast so I can
edit throw some beeps in there for all the foul
language that Rob's inevitably gonna be good, and then we'll
run it back like that. All right, that's unfair for us,
(59:56):
not on a worship would do. Nah, you got on
your mondy beeping on the worship wins. Okay, we'll do
it on the Monday, expect that's the is that the
fourth of July. Rob, g See, don't don't get out
of control, Rob, it can't be all. It'll be good.
And you know what, Robe put it in the laugh
don't tell you that's what I was about to say.
(01:00:16):
I make no laugh? No, right, yeah, let make it fun.
No you put laugh we'll laugh. No, that's good, all right.
Do we have a date? What's the date? On that
Monday or the Monday after the June six like or
July sixth like. No, we'll air it on the thirteenth. Okay,
(01:00:36):
we'll record it on the eighth, and then we'll make
you we air it on that following Monday. Okay, Monday,
July thirteenth. We'll do it. There, it is done. Look
at you. You're getting all these laugh tracks and beeps,
and it's just like a sitcup watching a sitcom on
the at home. They got a laugh track in the sitcom.
That's how come you thought Martin was funny all these years?
(01:00:59):
Martin was fundy. Let's get to one more caller? Can
we squeeze one more? In Joseph and Virginia. Joseph, you're
on THEYD A couple of Fox Sports Radio. Good even
fell us, how are you? I want to say, brother,
congratulations on getting your kids through college. Brother, that's a
big thing. I do have to say. I do have
to say, Chris, I kind of agree with Rob as
(01:01:21):
far as Aaron brother. He has no defense. He has had.
How good did you hear my numbers in the North
so NFC Championship games? I understand that. But when this
man is letting a court warner Arizona put up fifty
one po can't you can't? You can't work with that.
He needs some help on the defense. Fellows, I have
(01:01:42):
a good one, all right, appreciate it. I know you
texted that guy. No, I didn't. That was Joseph and Virginia.
He ain't From Detroit. Two time World Series champion Kevin
Eucolus is calling for a radical change in the world
of baseball. He'll tell us all about it next. But first,

As we said, we're gonna be joined by two time
World Series champion Kevin Eucolus in a moment, let me
let me say, yeah, I want to there some of Yeah,
what you you want to talk about? Okay? So, so
Universe is Cincinnati Picture and Senior Captain Nathan Moore is
(01:02:46):
the one of African American Chris who recently graduated from
UC and he's called for the school to change its
baseball stadium from March Shot Stadium because, quote, it's honoring
an individual Woll who was openly racist and for a
lot of people who do not know Marge at one point,
(01:03:07):
Chris Uh and talking about Eric Davis and a couple
other players called them to other people, and this got
out her million dollars and words, and Marge eventually was
forced to sell a team because of Uh some stuff
that she would say openly racist. Didn't even talk about
(01:03:27):
Hitler and owning a straw sticker Chris and all of that.
So when Marge died, she left two million dollars to
the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati named the baseball stadium
after it. And when um Nathan Moore Chris put this
out and got a petition together. A lot of our
(01:03:51):
players have us signed on on the petition, including Kevin Eucolus.
So we were interested in talking with Kevin and getting
his feedback on this and this might be a win
to change christ in the society where we are right now. No, Look,
you're seeing good signs and what I'm my feeling is
(01:04:12):
that we need to This could be a watershed moment
for our country, but we need to make sure it
leads to legislation, and I'm talking about serious I won't
get into all the specifics, but serious legislation to change
things in this country. Look, we all talk about you know,
(01:04:32):
we want heart change, and yeah, ideally we do want
heart change, but more than that, we need fairness in
terms of educational opportunities, in economic empowerment, and the justice system.
And if somebody's heart isn't changed, but the rules are
fair and the laws are fair and things are equal,
this so be it. They still have to play by
(01:04:54):
the rules. And so that's when I'm looking for it.
Some people's heart's not gonna change, but many, like these
young people out here rob their hearts are different. But
now you have to put the legislation behind their hearts.
This as tragic as this was for George Floyd and
his family, it is bigger than that, even and so
(01:05:16):
we have to keep that in mind, there's no doubt
about it. But also in doing with change, and I
get Moore's point here is not celebrating people Chris who
have been divisive and racist and openly like like not
not to celebrate those people and understand that it ain't
right just because somebody writes a check and it's supposed
to cover up and and uh so, so I love
(01:05:39):
the idea of fixing some things. The legislation, of course
is the most important thing. But there's some other symbolic things.
You saw some of the videos Chris over there on
social media of these statues being pulled down. It's lots
of there. Now, all right, let's get to Kevin Eucolus. Kevin,
welcome to the odd couple, y going, tell us we
(01:06:01):
are good. Great to have you on. You want to
ask you about your supporting your fellow alum from the
University of Cincinnati, that's where you played baseball, and he's
calling for the stadium to rename itself, take it, take
down march SHOT's name and rename it. What led you
to go ahead and support this young man. Yeah, you know,
(01:06:25):
first and foremost, I kind of keep a low profile
on a lot of things out there, and you know,
I think one of the things that people talk about
now is using your platform to do good, and that's
never my intent. I go out there and speak about
things when I feel like it's the right time to
speak up. And the young players, you know, young men
(01:06:48):
at the Universe of Cincinnati have got this petition going
and it's all based on what they've done to research
what the name march Shot means and her ask and
different things she believed in and you know me personally,
I for many years have let's be like so people understand.
(01:07:10):
When I was at Universe Citincinnati, I played at Johnny
bench Field and then they got this brand new stadium,
that state of the art and they funded it through
the March Shot Foundation. And I never was comfortable with
that name at the university that I love so much,
that taught me so much about different races, differ ethnicities,
(01:07:30):
different religions. I had so many great friends that I
made along the way from there. And I'm a Jewish
guy and if you do any research into the background
of March Shot and thinks she believed in, it went
against my values and my and my family's values of
being part of the Jewish community. So it was as
(01:07:50):
hard to see that name on there. And I said
things to the powers that be, and it's just complicated.
You know, when people gave a lot of money to
certain things, it's hard to take away those donations and rename.
So this is the right time and there's no better
time than now to do this, and I'm just super
(01:08:10):
proud of, you know, the guys the Universe Cincinnati that
has stepped up and done their part. And Kevin, what
you said is so true when you see what's going
on in the country and all the young people out
in the street, and the different ethnic groups and different
colors and all kinds of people coming together saying, Okay,
(01:08:31):
enough is enough, we have to have change. What is that?
Because sometimes I'm watching and I just can't believe what
I'm watching and the number of people out there who
really look like they've had enough and they want to
make some real change in this world. Yeah, I think,
first and first and foremost about the timing of all this.
(01:08:55):
You know, there's never a good time, right, and the
COVID and just mentally people are just just going crazy
because of COVID, and then you know the whole thing
with George Floyd that happened. I think the tensions of
the country have just risen so high for many different reasons.
But you know, for me personally, it's the things that
I've witnessed, It's things I've washed in my life. I've
(01:09:19):
just seen so many things, I've heard so many things.
I mean, I remember when I got told. I mean,
I've been told I'm going to hell for being Jewish
to my face. I've been I've been called different names,
and you know, I want to punch somebody. I'm not
proud of it because I was called a derogatory name
being Jewish, and you know, it's one of those things
(01:09:40):
that I was young, I was done. I was a teenager,
and it probably wasn't the right way to handle this situation.
And I've learned from that. But I just I'm just
super proud of you know, I grew up in the nineties,
and I tell people this, the nineties were an amazing
generation of change and reform and ways where I remember
like just you know, you get NWA, you know, you're
(01:10:03):
getting Doctor Dre, You're getting Tupac, You're getting Biggie, and
you know, boys in the Hood was so powerful, and
you know, white kids in the suburbs we got to
like see this. I mean, we were the first generation
they got to see this, and it was powerful in connecting.
And I'll tell you what my college experience and the
friendships I made. You know, my senior year, my roommate
(01:10:23):
was black, and we had riots that year in Cincinnati
and we just you know, sat around and shared stories
of growing up, being Jewish, growing up and being black,
and I learned a lot about that and I just
think that now that I'm a father and I had
children and my daughter's mixed. So you know, for me
is I want them to grow up in a better
(01:10:44):
world where people don't care about their skin color, don't
care about the religion, don't care where they come from,
you know, and it's usually the parents where they come from.
You know, most of these kids are second generation. But
I think it's just one of those things where we
just need to break bread more. We need to sit
down and have dinner and talk about things and not
to and not get defensive. You know, I think a
lot of people are getting really defensive and just listen.
(01:11:06):
It's time to listen and just and hear people out. Kevin,
you obviously play the majority of your career with the
Red Sox in Boston. You won two World Series there.
You probably saw the comments by Tory Hunter where he said,
you know you would there more than a hundred times,
and you know, just he actually had a no trade
(01:11:26):
clause in his contracts so he wouldn't be traded to
Boston because of the races treatment he got there. What
are your thoughts on that? Well, you know it hurts me.
You know, I know Tory as a person. I've always
had the utmost respect for him. It's probably one of
my favorite hitters that hits a high fastball. Uh does
(01:11:47):
a lot of damage of that high heater. I would
joke around and say, if Tory Hunter played in the
game today, he hit fifty home runs a year because
everyone's thrown up in the zone. So, uh, Tory, man,
he missed your calling. Man, you were just born too soon. Buddy.
He would have killed it, you know, even more. I
mean he killed it then he would have been even
better today. But you know, Boston was tough, you know it,
(01:12:09):
you know, being a fan favorite, there being a white
guy being you know, Jewish, and Brookline right down the
street is a very Jewish neighborhood. I was lucky, you know,
they loved me. But I did see some tension with
even my own teammates. And there was one incident where
a fan came running down and was being extra harsh
towards one of our black players, and I just got
(01:12:30):
fed up and I stood up and I told him
to shut that up and if he doesn't like, he
get the hell out of here. And I'll never forget
that moment because I was boiling because you could just
see that it was this tension and it wasn't the
same tension that was towards a white player. But you know,
for the most part, I'd like to say too though
the Red Sox fans, you know, it's not the majority.
(01:12:53):
It's a minority of people that act like that. But
you know, the minority is too big and have to
eliminate that, and there's no place for that and hatred
towards you know, the black players that are on the field,
and I just I just feel awful. I've always felt
awful about it, and I wish I could have done
more to help those guys during that time. Hey, Kevin,
(01:13:14):
you got a new podcast. Can you tell people about
it real quickly? Yeah. So it's the Greek Gotta Hops podcast.
It's it's on all your Spotify, as your apples and
thirty other different I think, various forms of a tuning into.
But I'm just sitting down with a bunch of people.
I got a group of Loma Burning Company and Loma
(01:13:36):
Coffee Company, a coffee roasting company, and I'm gonna have
various guests from baseball to beer, a coffee to you know,
all different types of people and just trying to sit
down and get to talk to people and and learn
about their professions and and some of their success stories.
They're some of their failures along the way too, and
just getting to know people and try to learn and
(01:13:56):
teach people that want to listen, just some success that
might help them out in life. All right, Kevin, great stuff, man.
We appreciating coming on and audio doing. Yeah, definitely, good
luck with the podcast and thanks for the stories. Yeah,
thank you guys. All right, man right, see Mordy I

Isn't you talk about whoever, whatever whatever you want to
in the Bot Shop Talk. That's Friday, This shop Talk
to our couple of Fox Sports Radio. This every single day,
eight forty five pm Eastern, we discuss something that happened
outside of the world of sports. We had a really
heavy cross fit topic we're gonna do, but it's gonna
be really short segments. We wanted to save it, probably
for it tomorrow, but instead another story that comes to
(01:14:59):
us Kurt to see the New York Post. I don't
know if you guys know this, but Chris Cuomo's wife
has an ig live yoga that she does. You know,
it's pretty cool, just helps people want a yoga at home.
While apparently during one of her more recent sessions, Chris
Cuomo was walking around outside in the background but ass
naked what everything was hanging out? So here's the question, guys,
(01:15:23):
if you're at home, mighty, if you're at home, is
it ever okay for a man to walk around but naked?
Rob Parker um out of the shower in the bedroom. No,
this is just walking around. No, I don't walk around
naked in the house anywhere on your home property location.
Can you walk around you and your wife in your
(01:15:46):
house if you want to do that, it's fine, or
if you want to do it if you live single,
you could. I mean that's fine, it's your place. Well
as you got the windows, you know, covered and clothed
and all that. Obviously, obviously your couch has plastic covers,
of my ball's gonna be stinging outside. I'm not saying
(01:16:07):
I do this, but I'm just saying, if you want
to it's fine outside, you better have high fences or
you gotta be like in some very secluded are like
my neighborhood, where the neighbors can see in our backyard
from both side, right, left, and the back. There's no
I can't be out there naked. No, that's just human decency, right, Gee,
(01:16:31):
I know you walk around naked, don't you know? True story.
I actually got into the shower one time for I
got a towel, so I had to walk across the
hall to get a towel, and my wife saw me
and I covered myself. Likes to stopped googling my goodies.
And I ain't trying to walk around naked at all
in my house. I already we already know. Were you
becoming empty nesters in thirty years you and your wife.
(01:16:59):
He's into the free, free life. Alex doesn't even want
to put on a first skin, So you know, not Rob,
I'm actually all on board with this cat. Not only
do I sleep naked, Not only do I game naked?
Not only do I enjoy being naked, It's one of
the most freeing experiences to know you can be What
do you mean do you eat naked too when you
haven't breakfast in the morning. Oh, there's no question, Rob,
(01:17:20):
Come on now, I'd be on the board naked. Are
you buttoning your pants right now? Why are you an kid?
Stop googling my goodies? That is way too much. Come on, seeb,
don't hate unless you try. You ever slept on silk
sheets naked? Come on, I gotta get all these visions
out of my low, out of my mind. One hour left.
(01:17:44):

for a free rate quote. We got a special guest
at the bottom of the hour. It's the five time
Major League Baseball All Star Tory Hunter, who has said
that as we talked with Kevin Eucolus, the former Red
Sox star, that he was very much racially assaulted, harassed
(01:18:31):
in Boston, so much so robbed that he had in
his contract a no trade clause to Boston because of
how he was treated and just taunted and called out
of his name and so on and so forth. So
that'll be a very good interviewer, Tory. Yep. And we've
heard from all the black players, Chris who have gone,
Adam Jones. Adam Jones had an incident there. CC Sabatius
(01:18:54):
said it's the only stadium where he's been called the
N word. The only place was in Boston, so so so, yeah,
we're looking forward to hearing from Tory. Yes, Rob. We
talked Friday about the NFL, and they're in an interesting
situation because their players released a very strong video, several
(01:19:16):
of them superstars, most most notably Patrick Mahomes on Friday
or Thursday night, and they demanded that the NFL, obviously
led by Commissioner Roger Goodell, would come out and make
a strong statement in support of the players, in support
of Black Lives Matter, in support of the peaceful protest
(01:19:37):
that the players, did you know started in twenty sixteen
with Colin Kaepernick and in support of the tearing down
of condemnation of systemic racism, and Roger Goodell did just
that on Friday, and President Donald Trump, who, by the
owner's own admission in the deposition a few years ago,
(01:20:01):
they said that they were intimidated by President Donald Trump
and that's why they allowed him to basically change the
entire narrative from one of Colin Kaepernick and other players
condemning social injustice and let they let Trump change the
narrative to them disrespecting the flag, which was far from
(01:20:25):
the truth. And now with Goodell making this statement saying
apologizing for the way that they squelched the players peaceful protests,
President Donald Trump came out today with the tweet Rob,
and here's what he says. Could it be even remotely
possible that in Roger Goodell's rather interesting statement of peace
(01:20:48):
and reconciliation, he was intimating that it would now be
okay for the players to kneel or not to stand
for the national anthem, thereby disrespecting our country in our flag. Rob,
what do you think that? How do you think the
NFL is gonna handle this? Well, that's why. I think
(01:21:08):
they need to do something to get ahead of it.
But there's no way. There's nothing that they can do now.
We see the people on the streets, we see what's
going on. Adrian Peterson, if you know, Daniel Schneider was
one of those owners who didn't want his players to kneel, Chris,
and he's already said he was asked, Adrian, would he
kneel this coming season without a doubt? What's his quote?
(01:21:31):
So I just think that a lot of guys who
probably didn't want to get involved before almost have no
choice from what they've seen. And I wrote in my
calm today and dead Spend Chris that it will no
longer be about who's kneeling, but who's not kneeling. That's
how I think that's where the shift is. You know
(01:21:52):
what I mean? That that will be kneeling. Yeah, I
was gonna say it's very possible. I don't know if
it's gonna happen or not, none of us know, obviously,
but I think it's possible that basically the whole league
is kneeling of players. Because you've seen so many white players,
particularly a lot of star quarterbacks, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers,
(01:22:16):
Carson Wentz, and you've had the black quarterbacks like you
are getting a lot of support from the white players.
Zach Ertz and others have come out in support. And
so I think it's possible you could essentially have the
entire league. Rob kneeling no, and and at the NFL's
walked now supposedly, Chris and oh, we're sorry. We should
(01:22:40):
have let you peacefully protest. And now we're gonna change
all ways. So let's see what happens. And that's why
Trump is already putting this out there right to roll
up his basse, because that's what they That's what when
some of his bass was probably the ownership, and you know,
probably that's why they're not gonna be interested to see
(01:23:02):
do they stand with their players or do they buckle.
I don't think they have a choice. I don't think
that that's the reason Goodell said what he said. He
sees the temperature in the country. Chris, I just don't
know how you go back to that. And if they
were to, like say, they were going to penalize somebody
(01:23:23):
or or whatnot, he can't can't do, it would be out,
it would be out absolute outrage and here's the other thing.
Where's Jerry Jones, Chris nothing, haven't heard a peep. Where's
John Draft? Oh? He did? He loves his black players.
Jerry Jones is the best. Where is Jerry Jones? Where
is he? Nowhere to be found? All right? Rob? Speaking
(01:23:48):
of this situation, and we you and I have talked
about it. We mentioned it earlier too. This is could
be a watershed moment in the history of this country.
Let's just face it, man, there has been the problem,
the biggest problem in this country since before it was
(01:24:08):
even you know, it's an independent country. Before it was
you know, the United States of America. As far as
being independent, racism has been the biggest problem, and as
far as African Americans have come robbed. And you know this,
You're very successful. I'm very successful. We know many there's
many successful individual African Americans. But even no matter how
(01:24:31):
successful you are, there is still a tension between you
and your country. Right. We still in our country that
we have defended and fought, you know, to protect. Like
everyone else that we built, we still have to tell,
(01:24:52):
you know, people in our family, how to watch out
for the police, how to behave yourself right when you
get stopped, I will have to tell them, you're gonna
have to be better than your white American counterparts. We
still have to tell them that we still have to
go out of our way to affirm their greatness because
(01:25:13):
you get so many signs outside of your home and
outside of the black community that you're less than in
our country. So there's always this tension always, and this
could be a moment if the right things are done,
where maybe that changes for good, because I think we all,
(01:25:34):
including many whites, would love to just be able to
move past this racial problem. It's gonna take a lot,
but I think it's a chance. Some of those millennials
thought at it. I think we have mentioned this before, right,
which was Obama was elected. I remember like debating my
nephew Alvin about this, who's about thirty one years old.
(01:25:55):
Chris and I always post racial, that's yes. He thought, wow, yes,
because they had a black president. What do you You
can't tell us anything, do you know what I mean?
Like seriously, they were like, look, they voted for him.
They didn't vote they didn't say, oh, they're not gonna
vote for him just because he's black. They voted for him.
And it was and it was big time and he
(01:26:16):
got elected again, right, right, but this still was a
lot of things that a lot of bad things happened
during the time was right. This is not just after
this is not just under Trump that this stuff is
going on. This was going on for a long time, right. Well,
basketball players rib in the NBA they see this too.
(01:26:38):
They feel they see the potential that you and I
and and many around America, not just black, but many
of us see. And Matt Barnes, who's got the great
podcast All the Smoke with Stephen Jackson, he was on
another podcast, The Dunk Bait with Josiah Johnson recently, and
he was saying that he and Snoop Dogg the Rapper
(01:27:02):
had heard from players around the league that and Matt
mentioned guys from the Lakers and the Clippers that there
are whispers about some teams not being comfortable coming back
and playing. I did a little digging talk to some
people around the league, and what I've been told, Rob
(01:27:25):
is that players, like I've been told the Lakers flat
out really want to play because they Lebron is working
out and he's working out with some teammates and they
are getting ready. James Harden and Russell Westbrook putting in
hard work. Like so players, A lot of players want
to play, but players are a bit They don't want
(01:27:49):
to come back and distract the nation from what they
see as real, legitimate possibility for change. They don't want
to take away from the focus on George Floyd and
combating systemic racism and combating the social injustice and things
(01:28:10):
like that. They you know, Rob, we hear it. People say,
what we need a distraction. Sports is a distraction. We
need baseball, we need football, we need basketball to just
distract us from the negative stuff that's happening. Well, these
players don't want to be a distraction. They want people
(01:28:31):
to folks. They look under We all understand, Rob, because
the nation was on lockdown because there are no sports
going on right now. I'm not saying there wouldn't have
been any attention on George Floyd, but it wouldn't have
been like this, and so I think it would go.
I think it would have gotten a lot of attention.
But I right, it wouldn't have been like this because
(01:28:53):
you people going to work there. You know, now you're
at your house all day even if you're working. Yeah,
it's a lot easier only because so many people are
at home, right and so that's what some players are feeling.
They don't want to distract from this moment. Do you
think they have And I'm not saying they're not gonna play,
(01:29:14):
but do you think they have a legitimate concern? I'm
not so sure that them not playing people are going
to up the whole Country's gonna be like, oh, okay,
the playoffs are going on in Orlando. Now I'm gonna
drop this to the side. There are a lot of
people in the grassroots out there working on this, Chris,
and I don't think they're gonna let this moment. Not
that there's anything wrong with having basketball as well, and
(01:29:36):
I don't think it's gonna derail it's it's it's two things.
I understand, maybe not wanting to, you know, derail this thing,
and like the thought process, but it's also a little
like like the country's gonna stop because they're playing basketball again.
(01:30:00):
I think that's a little night night. Yeah. Look, I
think they're going to play, but I think their concerns
are legitimate. Um, And I'm not saying there'll be no
attention on this, but we see this all the time.
I mean this isn't new. I mean how many It
started at least recently with Trayvon Martin, and I mean
(01:30:21):
how many more have happened since then? And this is
the one that has resonated. And I agree with you
that I think it will continue to resonate. Why can't
they wear Black Lives Matter UH stuff or T shirts
or you know, like even when they're playing, or armband Chris,
maybe that's true, so that as you watch the game,
(01:30:43):
what about that? Because on Black Lives Matter? So that
every time we watch Lebron and we watch Anthony Davis,
so Kawhi Leonard, you see that every single time. That's
the way of making a statement and still being you
know what I mean, keep the people's focus on it.
I do think from what I was told that that
(01:31:05):
is the way the Lakers are looking at it, Like
they do want to make some type of statement, but
they want to play and so and they know that's
a big platform, right, That's gonna be a huge platform
for them to make a statement on it. And I'm
sure they're not the only Teamakers might have a lot
of time anyway after the first round, so they might
be all they're losing it in the first round. I'm
(01:31:26):
just saying, stop it, stop it, stop it, all right,
But it's interesting and we will see what happens. But
let's throw it out to the callers eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. What do you guys think with
the NBA return into play end up being a distraction
(01:31:50):
from the social justice movement? And if so, would that
be a bad thing. We'll continue the conversation with you.

(01:32:38):
on all right, let's go to the phones. Rob. Do
you think if NBA players came back and played, and
I guess that could go for any of the athletes,
any of the sports. Would that be a distraction to
what is going on in the streets and the protests
and all the talk about changing systemic racism or rooting
(01:32:59):
it out of our system. You're turned away in eight
seven seven nine. All right, let's kick it off with
Jay and san Antonio. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? What's up? Brothers? Love? Thank you?
How y'all doing? Yeah? I don't I don't think anything
could disrupt the protest at this point. I mean we
(01:33:21):
had in Mattill in nineteen fifty five, we had Jane Birds,
which I talked about the nineteen eighty nine I believe
ninety eight brother and they drug his body. Oh it's
not gonna change it. I'll tell you why. I never
thought about life where I would see Caucasians putting up
a Jesse Owen sign. So it's deep this time because
(01:33:45):
we gotta everybody's attention. So so no, no, it's it
wouldn't disrupt interrupt anything. And we got we got, we
got our majority speaking on it, so no, it wouldn't disrupted. Yeah, good, Paul,
I agree. I just think this is different from before, Chris.
This is really the pictures, the people, the young people.
(01:34:08):
It's amazing. Mark and Sacramento. You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Mark? What's going on? Gentlemen?
What's up? Are you? Very good? You know what? I
think that it's just the opposite, very rarely the young,
powerful black men with powerful voice to get a chance
to now speak where people have to listen, and they're
(01:34:28):
doing it together. I think they should go play and
keep speaking. That's the difference. They can do both. I
saw him do both in the sixties. They can do
both play and keep speaking. Yes, and Mark, what do
you think about my idea of like if they had
the NBA put the Black Lives Matter patch or something
(01:34:50):
on the shoulder or so that when we're watching the games,
if everybody will see that the NBA, I will go
on board. I will go even further than that. Rob.
We're talking about football and what's gonna happen when football
starts in the kneeling, the NBA can be a test
for what could happen and if those guys communicate, And
that's why I'm hoping these young we talked about communication,
(01:35:12):
talk to each other. Hey, you guys, pick up the
phone and talk to Lebron and Chris Paul. How are
you guys gonna handle it? You know why because the
NBA is going first. Right, let's talk about it. Let's
talk about it coordinated. There's a way. Here's what that
communication with the internet I talked about helps these young
men know how to do that. Let's see him do it.
(01:35:32):
You've seen the young people out here communicate and tell
everybody where to go, Chris right, and where to have
these rallies and everything. It's been incredible. Harry in Columbus, Ohio,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey,
how's it going, brothers? How you doing good? Great man?
How are you? I'm doing well? So, first I said,
(01:35:52):
I pushed back on Chris a little bit. I know
you said that we need some serious legislation. Personally, I
don't think legislation is really going to do anything. I
think it's more of a whole structural um. But no,
I'm not even talking about legislation because I'm saying by
I mean you're basically asking people put us in the
(01:36:14):
situation to get us out, you know, and people who
benefit from a system of black supremacy to change it.
So you know, I mean that's another structural teardown. What
does that mean? I mean when I say structural teardown,
I believe, like you know, and I do, I agree
with voting. I believe in voting at the local level.
(01:36:36):
Like I mean, I think we all must have to
because when we say vote most people to think the presidency.
I think we have to start literally individually each local system,
you know, getting the people and getting And when I
say structural, I mean I believe we need to get
funded are funded or black funded and open minded funded
politician rather than just getting them from the two parties.
(01:36:57):
You know, we only have two choices and either you know,
either party. Me personally, I voted, but you know they
don't have, um, you know, black people's best interested. I
think someone funny and that's say And I'm not just
saying what I'm saying when I say legislation, I mean
this can't just be RAI RAI everybody feel good. Theyre
(01:37:18):
have to be laws changed, they have to and I'm
talking about serious stuff. We're not get into that now.
And the other stuff too. It it's about to me,
it's about holding people accountable. That's one of the biggest issues, Chris,
is that if you have some bad cops, they gotta
be prosecuted, they have to be arrested. I still wonder, Chris,
right now, when Minneapolis fired those four guys, had they
(01:37:41):
arrested them, that you're fired and then put them in handcuffs.
I don't know if we have this, do we? I'm
not sure you might be right. I'm that serious. I'm
talking about that day, not enough to that day they
were fired. They were going free shot over your badge
days and turn around and they put their handcuffs on
(01:38:03):
them that day. I don't But the thing is this
is bigger than just police brutality, and that's what I'm
talking about. There's a lot. I'm just talking about this.
This movement, though, is what I'm saying. I don't know
Andre and Massachusetts. You're on the eye couple five Sports Radio. Yeah,
how you're doing, guys, Thanks for taking my call. Listen.
I have to agree, uh or I have to stay.
(01:38:24):
In terms of the NBA coming back, it won't be
kind of productive for the social justice protests because it'll
give us the opportunity to see all of this talk.
As Chris alluded to, all of these ideas in action,
NBA has long been the most progressive lead in terms
of empowering people of color, giving them opportunities, a voice,
a platform, a platform. David Stearns's vision, let's bring Michael
(01:38:47):
Jordan's something they can't protest because it's in the CBA.
I just want you to know that. And Rob, I thought,
I thought an article that you that that you wrote
in Despen in terms of how this is going to
play out in the NFL. An interesting here is that
there's gonna be no fans, so there's probably gonna be
no introduction for them to protest. You know what, these
leads coming back, there's not gonna be you know, what
(01:39:08):
are you gonna do with the introduction? For for nobody?
So now I still think they'll do the anthem though,
unless that's Rob's right, unless they just get rid of it.
But they're gonna have the national anthem, I would imagine, well,
I mean right now that that was just an idea,
just uh And I think Rob, to your point, you're right.
The NBA has a rule that players must stand for
(01:39:29):
the anthem, but look if they if they kneel, I
don't think Adam Silver will do anything. I really don't
do you Web just it's interesting. I mean, it's on
the books, Chris, You're right, it's definitely on the books.
But I also think that and I haven't talked to
the players about this, but I think the players, my
(01:39:53):
opinion is they they may stand for the anthem and
go like protesting some other the way, like you said,
maybe it is a band, armed band or something on
the jerseys, you know, Black Lives Matter, whatever, because they
feel like NBA to Neil, they may, but they feel
like I don't think they want to go against the
(01:40:13):
league because they feel like the league is in their corner.
And that's my opinion. I may be wrong. I don't
think you're right. I think players, so some of them
might do whatever they want because it would show support
to the people out on the streets. I just I
just it would show support to Kaepernick. Tom all right,
there's there's a degree of that because everybody knows. I
(01:40:33):
think at this point, Chris, that he was wrong. I mean,
there's no other way that what they did. Colin Kaepernick
was wrong and this guy was trying to warn us
four years ago about the ills and what was going on.
All right, we got we got five time MLB All
Star Tory Hunter coming up shortly. He's got a big
time bone to pick with the city of Boston. He'll
(01:40:54):
tell us why. Next. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussa then Rob park
Ker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. All right,
it's The Eye Couple of Chris and Rob coming to
you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's
easy to say, fifteen present the more on your car
insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call
(01:41:17):
eight hundred and nine four seven Auto. The only hard
part is figuring out which way is easier. As a
five time All Star in Major League Baseball, we are
honored to have him on the Eye Couple. Tory Hunter, Tory,
Welcome to the show. What's up fell Us? What's up Rob? Chris?
How you guys doing doing weird? Great man? Thank you
for coming on. We really appreciate it, and we appreciate
(01:41:38):
you speaking out so boldly as you did recently about
the treatment you received in Boston when you were visiting player.
Tell us about that in some detail. Well, that that
treatment actually happened in a lot of places in in
this country. You know, I've had cancer. The Roles that
(01:42:00):
in it there and the kenn see the Roars took
care of it right away, banding that guy for life.
And you know the incidents in Boston, it happened several times.
I kind of got numb to it and just you know,
I look up to be like calm down or whatever,
and you know, you just kind of let it go.
But you know, it really got me when I was
(01:42:21):
not younger, but maybe like two thousand and one two
I saw kids, you know, up there saying the word
and no one was. I was looking up telling them
to stop stop that. Stop those kids from saying that,
and they just threw their hands up. All the grown
ups everybody around them. It was just kind of egging
(01:42:41):
those kids on. And that's when I said, you know what,
I always wanted to play the box, but I couldn't
play there. It wasn't a Red Sox. It wasn't a
Red Sox fault. It wasn't the player's fault there. It
really wasn't the fans' fault either. It was those couple
people in those in that those stands that didn't stop it.
(01:43:02):
You know, we have I don't think they were aware.
They thought it was funny, you know that they calling
that out. They can say tour you suck. Then he said,
you can't hit water, you sell out of a boat.
They can say whatever when you call me that N
word and I jump in the stands and fight you,
then I'm the militant guy, right, you know what tor
(01:43:25):
I was gonna say. But you know, you you You're
not the only player black player talks about Boston. Uh
CC Sabati has said it's the only place he's ever
been called the N word. We know Adam Jones had
a high profile situation there and then a lot of
the people tried to deny that it ever happened. I mean,
you can't have all these instances uh and and act
(01:43:48):
like nothing happens. Um and your stance about you know,
not being traded to that town or wanting to be there.
I think that's the way you handle it as you stop.
If you do, don't appreciate or respect black players or whatnot.
Why would you want to go play for a town
like that. I mean, well, you know, some guys got
(01:44:08):
to keep a job, you know, if they get a
job off of there and they don't have any others.
I understand that. And you grew up in that organization,
you have to you have to take in and accept it.
But you know, I just I just felt like, I
see my kids and my wife walking into town, and
I'll visualize all that and something happened to them. I
(01:44:29):
don't know what I would do, you know, uh, if
someone call them out their name or or treat them
differently because of the color of their skins. But that
you know, me saying it's about the Red Sox is
not about the Red Sox fans. It's about h just
being aware, you know, letting people use the eyes that
God gave him. He gave you two, he gave you
(01:44:50):
two years and one mouse just stop look and listening,
you know, and and uh and hear the cry that
we're trying to tell people just be aware of it,
call it out, see it. Let's expose this racism, this
this hate. It's an unconscious bias. Let's expose it and
people can start talking about it and stopping it. When
(01:45:12):
I saw those kids saying that and no one stopped them.
Now these kids are like CEO somewhere or they might
be owning a company and they're and trust me, they're
treating people bad because no one stopped them in that
moment when they were nineteen and eleven. Toy course, let
me just up go follow up. When you see the kids,
the young people, the millennials out in the street in
(01:45:36):
full force, now black, white, Asian, just like all these
kids who are holding up signs and saying they're not
gonna take this anymore. What does that do for you?
When you see what's happened in this country over the
last two weeks and it hasn't slowed down. Man, I
gotta tell you it's that's pretty awesome. You know, our
next generation, the young generation, that's our future. And and
(01:46:00):
just to see all those kids, you know, white, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Latino,
everybody's coming together for that fight and for equal rights
or or injustice or racial division or whatever it may be.
They're fighting for it. And I really love what they're doing. Um,
I definitely think it's relationships. We got to start building relationships.
(01:46:25):
You know, we say love like if I'm I'm married
and you're you're married, and you know people that are married,
You know people that got divorced and they say, I
still love him or her, but I just can't be
around it. That's because you don't know each other. It's
then't understanding that keeps the house strong. Know me, know yourself,
get to know your spouse, and then that's when you
(01:46:48):
you last. That's it. Love bring you together, but with
the knowledge of understanding of one another, it's what keeps
you together. And I think that's what we have to
do as of people this world. Tory, do you think
that baseball has a racial problem? I mean, obviously, and
this may not be baseball's fault. I wanted your opinion,
(01:47:09):
but now I think it's about seven percent African American.
Dusty Bakers talked about the lack of African American managers.
Do you think that there's a racial problem or this
is simply African Americans not really playing baseball as much anymore. Um,
I think it's it's a it's a lot of that. UM.
I also think there's uh, like I said, some unconscious bias.
(01:47:33):
You don't you don't understand that you don't know, and
you choose not to pick it because of your predeceived notions.
You know, you know, you you make that decision through
your family or through TV or whatever it may be
has helped you. Uh say that they might not know
what they're doing. They got the label of their lazy
or there, you know, just just anything. And I think that, um,
(01:47:56):
we're not in those high positions when I'm coaching. Positions
were our general managers? Besides was that Kenny in Chicago
with the White Sox. Yeah, so we don't. We just
don't do that. I think it's you know, it's it's
trying to get better. But I said this twelve years
(01:48:19):
ago on HBO, and I got scrutinized for it. You know,
I said, before you know it, you're gonna have less
than ten percent, and you're gonna rarely see any African
American players playing, and and here we are less than
ten percent. And I got scrutinized for it. I remember
that because I spoke about that on first take. If
(01:48:41):
you remember I supported your call, Do you remember that right? Right? Yeah?
I mean I saw it, I saw it, I lived,
I was able to live through the baseball era of
the mid nineties, you know, and then the early two
thousands and all the way up until two thousand and fifteen,
and I was able to see the trend in the
(01:49:01):
swing and I'm like, Wow, this is not gonna be good.
I stopped saying black utility players. I stopped saying, uh,
black players that are making less than ten million dollars.
Most players, you gotta be most of them superstars, right right, superstar,
you gotta be a super duper star to be a
black African America. I'm gonna say black player, African American player, uh,
(01:49:25):
in major League baseball. So basically you're saying that, no
Fred Roysters. Do you remember, Uh? I mean Jerry Royster.
Do you remember him? Yeah? I know that Jerry Royster
was a utility player who played around those last thing Tory. Uh.
The players and the owners obviously have to come together
and get a deal done. Do you think this will happen?
(01:49:45):
We got about a minute ago. Uh, we'll have some
sort of baseball, maybe not one hundred and fifteen games,
but maybe eighty games. Yeah, I think we could get
a deal done once they agreed to the pro raty rate.
But they came low. I know that's part of negotiations,
the owners and the players. The players go high, the
owners go low. And now they're at seventy five, which
(01:50:07):
is eighty something games, and the players will come back
with something counter and then they have come to a
happy medium, and I think they're gonna get a deal done.
They just can't not play the game and uh and
leave people in limbo. Tory, great stuff, man. We appreciation
joining us, and you and your family be safe out there. Man, Yes, sir,
you too. Man, I'll be safe and God bless you. Yes, Tory,
(01:50:29):
thank you so much. All right, more Eye Covered with
Chris and Rob coming your way. Fox Sports Radio. Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.
Catch all of our shows at Fox sports Radio dot
com and within the iHeart Radio app. Search f SR
to listen live. It's the Eye Couple, Chris and Rob
wrapping up a Magic City Monday, and we got some
(01:50:54):
interesting news. We're gonna let Rob g introduce it. Tell
us what's happening in the world of m A. That's right.
I don't know if you guys saw this, but Connor
McGregor has decided to retire for the third time in
four years. It's very you know, tough time in the
MMA world to see a guy like that leave. He
(01:51:16):
put out a nice tweet saying that he was gonna,
you know, buy his mom a house. And so naturally,
when I say he retired for the third time in
four years, most people don't really believe him taking him seriously.
So we did an interview with ESPN the following morning
on Sunday morning, and he gave a little bit more
of a behind the scenes as to why he's stepping away,
and one thing he said was, quote, the game just
(01:51:38):
does not excite me. And that's that all the waiting around,
nothing happening, going through opponent options, there's nothing really there
for me at the minute, he continued, I'm trying to
get excited. I'm trying my best. And when the anders
In civil fight came along, I was like, yeah, that's
a good fight, and it didn't seem like anyone really
cared anymore. So it seems like he's lost his motivation
(01:51:58):
to fight because he feels like he's alread, you know,
conquered the UFC world. Look, I don't believe him that
he's retired. I think he'll be back. Uh, And I
think that I do believe that athletes can lose their
motivation if they have, you know, conquered everything and they
feel like they're on the top of the game and
(01:52:19):
there's no no more mountains to climb. But McGregor's not
there game. Yeah, that's why you haven't had a date
in a few years. Is that you retired from Davy though. Um,
But I don't McGregor's not there. I mean, now, look,
he looked and here's the other thing. He's not washed
up either. I mean, he looked tremendous in taking out
(01:52:43):
Cowboys Rony t. He had that what the shoulder bump
or whatever it was called that he was hitting him with.
I mean, it was incredible how quickly he dismantled Cowboy.
But he can't beat Cobbe. He cannot beat Calbie. And
I think he understands that all this lip service about
(01:53:04):
wanting to fight him, he can't beat him. And so
now what's there to do win a bunch of you know,
nine title bouts. I don't think he wants to fight
could be for all his lip lip service? What you Rob, either, Rob?
I know, Rob, you're not really into MMA, but no,
and I'm I'm I'm just I'm cool if he wants
to really retire. I agree with you that most of
(01:53:27):
these guys they claim that they're done, they're not done.
They'll they'll always be some fight or some money to
be had, you know what I mean, They'll usually come
back for it. Rob g you more into it than
I am. Well, number one, it's weird to here Chris
Russard be correct on multiple points in the same topic
because it never happened. I mean, if you would have
(01:53:49):
got one of the two and that to make you
feel good, No, if you would have got if you
would have got one of the two of yeah, if
that sounds about right, But no, you're right. He number one,
he's I think he's lost three of his last six
professional fights or something like that. Take out the Mayweather Okay,
then he's lost two of the last five whatever, two
or five. Yeah, So I mean it's not like he's
(01:54:09):
just running through guys and it's no competition. I mean,
he's not even John Jones, who you know. And then
as far as I was undefeated, right other than the
disqualification and he could fight, was it? Is it justin
gaithe Gaichi. Yeah. I mean he he beat Tony first
and which was impressed. But Gaisci is gonna fight could
be and that's already being set up. They have the
(01:54:30):
same they have the same management. So okay, you know, okay,
but um, like you said, I mean, he's not He's
just a money thing. It's the it's about building the
buzz more money exactly. I mean, he already has the
built in contract that he signed a few years back,
so we're gonna get paid regardless. But I think this
is just his way of saying, Hey, if there's no gate,
(01:54:52):
I'm not gonna get as much money. So let's just
be quote unquote retired until we can have fans back
in the building and then I'll do a big triumphant
return in Vegas, you know, five point five million view
but pay per view buys or whatever it is, because
we're gonna be hard off for sports. So I mean
it's just a business move on his part, that's all.
I do. Think he's also a guy that gets motivated
(01:55:14):
by the crowd. He may not want to fight in
an empty arena. I'm not saying he couldn't be great,
because he's a great fighter, but I think he's a
guy that just loves to perform. He loves, you know,
the crowd to feed off of their energy and give
it back to him when no one was around. But
(01:55:34):
that's another story. You better get some better material for
your stand. And now you're excited because now you think
you can just go ahead and be yourself and curse
and get raunchy. It's still gotta be gee. You know
(01:55:54):
the one joke you cannot tell your favorite Joe. That's
my show, Colbody Purse,
