our man Super Bowl champion himself, Fox Sports NFL analyst
Greg Jennings. So it is gonna be a fabulous show.
(02:01):
We all want to hear what my man, my partner,
Rob says about Tom Brady winning number six. So let's
just get to it. Rob, You all right, man, I'm fine.
Are you kidding me? No, I'm not kidding me. I'm
dad serious, I'm fine. I think I'm moving to Mexico.
(02:22):
And you know what, you know it's great is all
the pushback and people going it's nothing on Twitter like
Twitter and Instagram. There's a few people, but do you
know why they can't come out and beat their chests
and all that is because they know Tom Brady didn't
play well. He didn't even play well enough to even
(02:43):
get the MVP. They gave it to a receiver who
didn't even have a touchdown, which tells you all you
need to know. But let me let me welcome in
the odd couple, Crewe, Chris, and then I really get
at you and tell you you could jump around and
try to be convinced that Tom Brady did something, but
I got I got the bowl. No, the defense won
(03:03):
a Super Bowls whatever. It's the team games he is.
This is not to day. I'm sorry. This is football.
This is team sports. He's on the team. This is
not Tom Brady's day. It just isn't. But anyway, it
is the Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio, and we
welcome in our odd couple crew. Of course, we got
(03:24):
Rob g our producer. We're back in Los Angeles. We
got Alex our engineer, Deb Carson, our sports anchor. She'll
keep us up to date h throughout the show. We
have our intern Connor. He's all on the other side
of the glass. Elijah is here in studio and yes,
he's our social media guru, and we'll take care of
(03:45):
all of that. So, Chris Brussard, I was at the
game yesterday in Atlanta, and uh, the Patriots defense kicked
the Rams ass, so you know what, we should kick
some assinate too as well. Right, you got to that
in a roundabout way, but it was it just was.
But let me just give you my my real take
(04:08):
right here on Tom Brady. And as I said, it
wasn't it was actually a pretty good night. Sure, the
Patriots won, they got their six championships. A thirteen to three,
dull snoozer of a game. We sort of ratings dropped
big time. Maybe Patriots fatigue, Maybe people just turned it
(04:28):
off because a lot of people were complaining as the
game went on on how boring it was. What was it?
Three nothing at the half? But Tom Brady had just
a ordinary He looked forty one years old. He didn't
look that good. He had a bad interception, he had
a fumble he threw. Yeah, I'm first pass of the
night was an interception. He had no he had no touchdowns,
(04:52):
and uh, they got to win. But that defense played
very well. I was so impressed, first time since what
is that, Chris nineteen seventy one, that the losing team
scored only three points, the idea that you could stop
the Rams, who were averaging almost thirty three points a
game down to three. I looked at that and I said,
(05:14):
you know what, I know, Bill Belichick's the head coach,
but he works with the defense, Chris, But he got
them playing as well as possible. And I was just
I never thought it would be about the Rams not
being able to score, do you know? I just didn't
know what? Yeah, I mean, were you sitting there with
a ticket for over from Vegas? You had to be
(05:36):
like tripping. Some guy had a lot of people lost
money on that big time. But somebody had a prop
bet of of the Rams scoring only three points. Did
you hear about this? He bet two He bet two
hundred and fifty dollars and he won a hundred thousand,
Because there's no way, Wow, scoring three bet though it is.
(06:01):
I mean, if you lose two hundred and fifty dollars,
so what one hundred grand? Wow? Absolutely wow, that's incredible.
But then you look the defense. There's no overstating how
great they were. You're absolutely right to hold that offense
to thirty points below its ass which is crazy. And
(06:23):
you know, Rob, It's what I said, And this is
why there's there were two goats in that game, Tom
Brady and Bill Belichick. Bill Belichick stifled Kansas City's offense,
holding them scoreless in the first half, stifled the LA Chargers.
But they did. Yeah, they they came on and played
(06:45):
well in the second half, notion about it, but still
but to get to the quarterback in Kansas City Mahomes
four times when they had one of the worst pass
rushers in the league all regular season, and he did
it again yesterday. They got to golf four times, they
cat Brady, he only got sacked once. I mean, Bill
Belichick has showed off this entire postseason, and you have
(07:10):
to give him his problems. I'm totally in agreement with
you on the defense. No, it was unbelievable and we
saw it, Chris. When it came down to trying to
name an MVP, it was impossible because normally they would
have loved it. They would have loved to give that
to Brady, right of course. I mean, I don't know
where's that come from. They would have loved to given
(07:30):
it to Brady. I mean, you give it to who
deserves it, and Edelman didn't really deserve No, That's why
I would think any individual deserve well. But it's weird
because Brady didn't throw a touchdown, but Edelman didn't catch
a touchdown. Yeah, what I'm saying it might have been
Edelman because look, he was very good, he was great,
but every pass he caught came from Brady, of course. Well,
(07:51):
but the two biggest receptions of the game were the Gronkowski.
Well but that's what I'm saying like that, and I
would have given it if you really should have given
it to the entire defense. And we'll get into that.
We will get into it. So tell me about Brady.
Did Brady look forty one or thirty one to you
last night? I mean, he obviously wasn't spectacular, But the
(08:15):
notion that he wasn't very good, that he wasn't good,
that he just got carried to the championship, No, that's
just not accurate. And here's why. Because when push came
to shove and it was the fourth quarter, it was
clutch time. What did he do? Nine minutes left? Game
is tied three three? As he always does, as he
(08:39):
always has done, better than any other quarterback in the
history of the game. He led a game winning drive.
It was his sixth game winning drive in the six
Super Bowls he's been in. No other quarterback has more
than two. It was his thirteenth game winning drive in
the playoffs. No other quarterback has more than six. So
(09:01):
what does he do? Yeah, he struggled all night but
again when it was nut crunching time, he goes and
hits four for four all right, eighteen yards to Gronk,
thirteen yards to Edelman, seven yards to rex birkehead, twenty
nine yards to Gronk, which could have easily been a touchdown.
It was right there at the goal line. Four for four,
(09:23):
sixty seven yards. That's all he had to do, all right,
he delivered. Let me stop that's it. Let me stop you.
That's not what he threw for five five? Hold on
when he threw for five hundred and five what to
last year? You don't give him any credit for that,
even though he was spectacular individually, and now that he
had a good game but not a terrific game, we
(09:45):
don't want to give him credit in the win come out.
But then why didn't he win the MVP? Crush, you
just make the care who won beat? I'm asking you
why didn't he win the MVP? If he was clutching
the fourth quarter? Why didn't he win? Because he had
a bad game, just really a bad game. He had
a reception and he didn't do that. You didn't, I know,
(10:07):
you don't know what you're watching. So you're telling Drive
why didn't it make who cares? Isn't a team game
or not? No, but they had to give it to somebody.
They gave it to a receiver didn't even have a touchdown.
If Tom Brady was all last, why didn't they give
it to a Chris's Trophy? Nobody cares? And answer me
(10:30):
the question, Thembardi Trophy. Answer me the question. Just answer
me that question. They were looking for the MVP. You
just broke down how spectacular he was and he led
to the game winning drive. But all the football writers
in Atlanta looked and said, let's see, let's give it
to a receiver who didn't even You just said groc
(10:50):
made the two biggest catches and he didn't even have
a touchdown. Let's give your point. Isn't scaculis you made
it all the bet? I've let you continue with this
nonsense long enough. It ain't. No. I guess everybody who
didn't get the MVP had a bad game. No, Tony
Michelle had a bad game, Rober Growski had a bad game.
(11:11):
Anybody on the defense had a bad game. Come on, man,
bring me some real logic. That is logic. This is bogus,
This is Brady noave my face, bogus garbage. No, I
don't care. I'm asking you who was the MVP. I'm
asking you. You just made the sad said it everybody
(11:34):
who won. You maybe had a bad game. You maybe
the k Brady was you? Maybe key? You said, look
at the driving head. He went four for four and
he threw it to the air and threw it to
the air, and he had the game when he drive,
and that's number six and that's number six offs. If
that was the game when he drive and Tom Brady
was in the clutch, brother, give me. He won't. He
(11:59):
wouldn't even consented for the MVP. He had a bad game,
admitted he looked like a forty one year old. He
knowed the forty one year old quarterback who was carried
along by his defense the same way Peyton Manning won
his second super Bow. But he wasn't Peyton that it
was Manny had no touchdowns one hundred forty one yards.
(12:21):
Let me hear you with some facts now, bad garbage,
all right? Tom Brady through for two hundred and sixty
two yards. Tom Brady led the game winning drive. Tom
Brady had a passer rating of seventy one. You want
to keep bringing up one. Yeah, you want to keep
bringing up Peyton his VP, Peyton man I ain't say
(12:43):
it was MVP. Peyton Manning had one hundred forty one
yards and a passer rating of fifty six and two
fumbles and an interception in twenty fifteen, So it's just
one dude. Was Joe Namath bad in nineteen sixty nine
when he won the Super Bowl but threw no touchdown
(13:03):
n six yards? John name was? What was? Was John
Airway bad? You didn't won the Super Bowl and went
twelve for twenty two with one hundred and twenty three yards,
no an interception in a fifty two passer rating. But
was Terry Bradshaw. But the difference seventy five when he
threw for ninety six yards or in seventy six when
(13:24):
he threw for two hundred and nine but was nine
for nineteen. Stop it. It's a team sport. If you
lead your team to the tight he not. Nobody's taking
credit away from the win. There you are. I'm just
telling you credit away from time care who was in
telling you that you made the case that he was
(13:44):
so great in the fourth quarter in clutch. But but
they didn't give him the MVP. How could he be clutched?
How could he be clutching? They didn't even they looked
at his numbers. Don't for yourself and stop letting the
other writers think for you. They don't think for me.
I agree on that's your argument. If the other writers
(14:06):
for yourself, down for yourself. Don't give me what the
other writers did. They did the really saw they did
the right thing. Okay, tell me about the drive then drive.
It was fine, but I mean, he wasn't good in
that drive. No, but he wasn't like what you made
it out to be. Like. There was some clutch of
four score sixty seven yards the perfectly asked. The score
(14:29):
was three for three to three. It wasn't like bright
like they came back, came back three quarters. I said,
when push came to shove, he delivered. That's all I'm saying.
You didn't give him credit for that ask. I never
said once he should have been MVP. I said, the defense,
all right, but why did they give it to Elman?
Just just answer no idea, just like they shouldn't have
(14:51):
given it. And Andre Guadalar with the Warriors in twenty fifteen.
He deserved I'm not gonna let them determine what I saw.
And I believe as an expert myself. You an expert.
You letting me know? What's what you think? Oh? They
were right on the money. There, I breathe. It should
have been Emen, it should have been Able, It shouldn't
(15:11):
have been Brady. It's what I'm saying. What should it
have been element? That's all I'm just saying. Been They
looked at that drive and they're all like, it's about
what they were wrong. They were wrong, period, But they
weren't wrong about giving it to Brady. They were wrong,
that's your argument. They were right about not giving your fans.
Let's see what the listeners thing. Man. If I didn't
(15:35):
bury you, I'm sure the listeners will. You didn't bury
me on your kidding. I'm still breathing, all right? Did
last night's performance change the way you feel about time
Brady being the goat? Hit us up eight seven seven

You know that people just listen. Friends listen. Our buddy
bat listens. You know. Let's see how many of these
callers you know personally. I don't know any I don't
know anybody who's calling in. What do you think I'm
I'm texting fans texting, Yeah, I do. That's that's exactly funny.
(19:16):
When they agree with you. You didn't text them need though,
I don't do that. They were at Morehouse College. You
gave out the phone number and you said on Saturday,
you said pray and on Monday. I hope you didn't
give out the phone number where you were at Saturday.
I did. I wanted them to call. You know, we'll
get we'll get into that as well. The Saturday that
(19:38):
we both spent. Yes, yes, yes, we hung out all
week except Saturday. Yeah, and we went out separate ways. Yes,
but that was a good thing. Yes, it was all right.
Well eight seven seven ninety nine at the music at
Chris's event, we actually did have some funky music, did you.
But it wasn't about taking your clothes no that nah.
(20:01):
It was all men's okay, and take off no clothes.
That's all right. A seven seven ninety nine on Fox
A seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Let's do it right, all right, let's start with Mike
and California. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Mike,
what you got? Hey, thanks guys for taking my call. Uh,
(20:24):
Patriots champions again, thank you. I'm very happy about that.
But Rob, seriously, man, I have to say, I don't
know what gets deflated more when it gets called out
the football, So the Patriots or your IQ going down?
Because I swear you, sir, you know how you call Brady,
you call Brady the lots. Yes, you are the you are,
(20:46):
you are the vote tat on air talent of all time.
That is your new nicknames. That is your new nicknames.
Now look at Brady. I'm gonna agree with you on
one thing. Brady was great yesterday. But in the fourth quarter,
when they came time to bring the ball down field
in a three three game, the guy takes them down
(21:08):
field and they score. Okay, Mike, Mike, hold on, hold on, Okay,
I'm with you all the way right there. Just tell me,
given what you and Chris believe, or how great he
was in the fourth Chris hold on, fourth quarter? Okay, Mike,
who does how come Brady didn't get the MVP led
them down for the game winning drive. But I'm asking you,
(21:30):
I'm gonna tell you right now, tell me why didn't
deserve the MV He didn't. He did not deserve the MVP.
If I was giving out the MVP, it would have
been Gilmore or high Tower. The defense should have got it. Okay,
Brady didn't. He didn't play great in the first half.
But I will tell you, Wade Philip, Sorry, yeah, Wade Phillips,
had a really good defense against them, and they held them.
How many times? How many times did they get into
(21:52):
the red zone they didn't get They got into the
red zone one time and the Rams didn't and the
Rams didn't get in at all. It was in battle,
no question about it, all right. Thanks, great job. He's
always giving Brady, no, he has more often than not.
Where we going, Uh, Lewis and Miami, you're in the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Lewis? What's up? Guys?
(22:16):
I just want to tell you I'm a big fan
than he does. Hurt my heart, Rob It hurts my
heart all right to have to tell you this because
I am a big fan. But you are making less
than zero sense right now. That man has six Super
Bowl rings. I didn't take away the rings or accomplishments, Lewis,
hold on, I'm not. I said he's the most accomplished
(22:36):
quarterback player in the league. I did not take away
that the ring part. All I'm saying is my thing
that looked more like Manning. His last championship mann Mann
Manning was his last couple of years. Manning. I'm talking
(22:57):
about the year that he won the champion Chip. He
had one hundred and forty one yards he had and
twenty more yards in that but one pick, and he
had a two fumbles. I'm just saying Brady looked like
a forty one year old lesson. But you're just reading
the numbers. Peyton Manny didn't lead a game winning drive.
Peyton Manny had almost I mean Brady almost up for
(23:20):
twice as many yards as Manning that year that you're
trying to compare him. I'm not saying he looked fantastic,
but to say he looked like Peyton Manning that year,
come on, I just it was a defensive that got
him the chip. It was a defensive. The defense was great,
not the whole defense should have been the MVP. I
was just clear. Yeah, I agree with that. Now that's
the only part in me and you agree on. All Right,
(23:41):
is there any chance Tom Brady will retire and ride
off into the sunset after winning his sixth Super Bowl?
Boston sports media legend Michael Holly has the answer next.
But first let's bring in Dab Carson for the Latest
in Sports and Dads saw it. Rob is Rob being
a little bit uh? I'm just absolutely okay. First of all,
(24:04):
I don't think that Brady deserved the MVP either, But
you're asking why Edelman got it. It's because he had
eleven catches excuse me, ten catches for one hundred and
forty one yards and most of them were first downs
to keep drives alive. Okay, there's nobody else on offense
that deserved it. Yes, the defense played better than the
offense did. But but you know, you're you're saying, well,
why would they give it to Edelman with those stats?
(24:25):
They gave it to Dion branch Back in Super Bowl
thirty nine, and he had eleven catches for one hundred
and thirty three yards and no touchdowns in that too,
and Brady had a better game in that matchup. I
tell you about Brady the old a situation because if
that drive was so awesome as people say did, he
should have won game. So why didn't he win it?
(24:45):
You say it like it's that's up in the air,
but I don't understand that's not okay, So it's the
game winning drive. Why wouldn't that Why wouldn't that go
to But well, Edelman had catches in that drive too.
He groc had better k she is in Edelman Edelman
had you know night, like you said, Deb, he kept
drives alive, you know, little ten yards here, seven yards there,
(25:08):
thirteen yards there. And I mean I think it should
have been the defense or an individual on the defense. Yeah,
but if you knew what Chris was doing down in Atlanta,
you wouldn't side with him because he just with anybody?
What did he do? What did he do? I know
where you were, where you were. I'm still not sure
(25:29):
you went in that picture you sent me from outside?
You know that Alex sort of video. Alex. Let's just
say Rob was inside and all around. Yes, that video
X rated that you said, Chris, don't look at it.
I know I've been looked at it. I have no design.
Delete that, all right? He guess we'll start with my
(25:51):
wife finds it on my phone, I mean, Trump, let's
start with some NBA news. Magic Johnson and del Demp's
reportedly have had multiple conversations throughout the day, and Brad
Turner of the La Times reports that the Laker's latest
offer for Anthony Davis that the Pelicans consist of Lonzo Ball,
Kyle Kuzma, Brandon ingram Re, Genrondo, Lance Stevenson, Michael Beasley
(26:14):
and two first round draft picks now granted. A couple
of those are expiring contracts, obviously, but that is the
latest offer, supposedly from the Lakers. Adrian Morzanowski is reporting
that Anthony Davis told the Pelicans that he had a
list of teams that he'd signed with long term. That
list did include the Bucks, but not the Celtics. We
do have NBA action currently underway. It's the Nuggets by
(26:36):
two over the Pistons right now, thirty three thirty one,
a minute to go in the first quarter in Detroit.
In Washington, Hawks lead the Wizards twenty eight eighteen with

the Super Bowl fifty three telecast drew one hundred point
seven million viewers. That's down about three million viewers from
last year's Super Bowl, and it is the lowest in
ten years since Super Bowl forty three between the Steelers
(27:20):
and the Cardinals. So we will be back with the
Odd Couple in ten seconds. But first a word from farmers.
From a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a

We know a thing or two because we've seen a

(28:02):
only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
We've got NBA Sports I'm sorry, NBC Sports broadcaster in Boston,
Michael Holly, coming up. But until we get him on
the line. You want to take a few more calls
right now? Let's do that, all right? Kevin in Wisconsin,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Kevin? Hey?
(28:23):
How you doing? Chris and Rob? How are you? Man?
I'm doing great? Now. The question was this performance or
him win and change your mind about him being a goat?
You know from Wisconsin. I'm a Aaron Rodgers guy. I
always hate it when people would say, well, Brady's the
dot and people want more trophies, and I would say, well,
(28:46):
like Chris said earlier, it's a team award winning the
Super Bowl. One guy doesn't win. And when you look
at it skill wise, you know you gotta hour go
with Rodgers. But after the season that they had, and
halfway through the season, if you would have told me
that they would have won, and the fact of how
(29:07):
he showed true grit and they and they were able
to win that six and that's six out of nine.
He's the greatest of all time, gar regardless of how
good of a jam he played yesterday. Wow, that's a
good car. Well. I never said Aaron Rodgers was the goal,
so I don't. I've always said, you know a lot
of Ye, I never did, Chris, We've never I've never
(29:29):
had that conversation with you. The better you feel like,
the better you know, I said, I said, he has
a better skill set, right, better skill set than Brady.
So that was never. I've always said when you're talking
about Gold, and we've talked about this in basketball and
uh football, you have to have individual dominance, which obviously
(29:49):
Aaron Rodgers has, but also teamed that of course there's
a lot of factors exactly, and and even put Aaron
Rodgers and he'd have to win at least two or
three more just to even be in that conversation. Could
you have Montana? Uh? No question right, no doubt, Don
and Boston you're on the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio.
What you got Don, Rob, Thanks for taking my call, Chris,
(30:11):
love you guys, Thank you, Budd. You guys are great. Rob.
I just called to tell you that I'm I hope
you're not moving to Mexico. You know what, I might
go to Cancoon for the weekend. Well, that would be good,
that would be gold. Have a couple of have a
couple of you know, shoot tequila shooters. Oh yeah, but
I did call to recommend a new vocation for you
(30:33):
if this one doesn't work. All right here, well two
actually one you could be a lumberjack or two a
ditch digger, you know, like digging wells. But don't try
both at the same time, because I don't think you
know your ex from a hole in the grow. All right,
don I appreciate the advice. I'll remember that. Nieman and Montana,
(30:57):
you're on the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Neatman?
What's up guys, Rob. It's nice to see us still
in the States. Man, I'm proud of you. One thing
you always know about me is I'm always going to
be here on call for the fire. You and Chris
were going at it the beginning of this show. I'm
(31:17):
y man, So that kind of took like, you know,
it was like me teaching a young you know, one
of my protege I got underwear older than no Dev
Dev kind of took the wind out of my call sales.
But uh, I think the reason why they gave Edelman
(31:40):
the MVP. Brady was great for one drive, and yes,
that was the most important drive of the game. Yes,
he was great for one drive. Sony was great for
a play he got in the end zone. Uh, Gronkowski
had two great plays, but from start to finish, Edelman
was Brady's go to guy. He made so many plays,
the separation he had. He was the biggest dog in
(32:01):
the fight, but the smallest guy on the field from
the first snap to the last snap. And I think
that's why they gave it to him. But I do agree,
if they could split it into eleven pieces, it should
have gone to the defense. I would have just made
it the defense. This is one of those times and
just let them all and if you want to make
h you know, copies of it for everybody to have one,
you know what I mean. And just that defense was
(32:22):
that dominating, right, you could have given it to Gilmore yea,
And I think I don't think this guy deserved it
any more than any other offensive player necessarily, But if
you just look at numbers, I mean, Sony Michelle, the
college said he had one play the touchdown run five
(32:44):
over five yards to carry, So I mean he that
running game. Because you know we haven't we've debated over
Brady and that last drive and this and that, but yeah,
he wasn't spectacular and because he wasn't spectacular. That running
game was big for them, No doubt. You couldn't have
done it with Sony Michelle too, no doubt about it.
(33:05):
All Right, well eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
If you want to call in later in the show,
but for now, we got more I Couple super Bowl
reaction coming up. Keep it locked Fox Sports Radio. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific. From a heart of balloon landing on
(33:26):
a car to a load of concrete falling on one,
we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmers truck fire Insurance exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. I like this, Rob,
I like this. Uh Alex, this is fresh. We little
change up for some moosy Zica moosey cop Monday. All right,
(33:49):
this couple, Rob Parker, Chris, Bruce Sard and Rob We
we mentioned it earlier. Dev gave us the update that
this Super Bowl you're a forty four point nine over
rate overnight rating, which that was the lowest Super Bowl
rating since two thousand and nine. You remember that one
(34:09):
was Pittsburgh and Arizona, and that was a great game
if you remember, I know, people that ended with Santonio
Holmes rights. Uh. First Larry Fitzgerald had the big touchdown.
I thought they were gonna win it. And then with
two minutes they come back Pittsburgh and Santonio Holmes uh
makes a great catch and the ends on the win
(34:31):
the game and the super Bowl. That was a great
super Bowl going in people probably uh you know, thinking
about the hours on the Cardinals didn't buy into it.
Because now you surprised at these ratings. I am that
they're that they're not, not that they didn't, not that
they went down, because I get the going down, Chris,
(34:51):
and I get the Patriots uh fatigue, you know, three
years in a row. So I get that there are
some people who just cannot stomach watching the Patriots anymore.
I mean, yeah, I'm a little bit surprised. I think
there are several factors. One, you're absolutely right, I think
Patriots fatigue. And I also think, just to be honest,
(35:13):
Patriots hate like it's not just fatigue, like because Jordans
you know, there wasn't this Jordan Bulls fatigue, you know
what I mean? People could have probably win another four
years with him winning the championships. But there's a lot
of hatred out there. You know, you're like this. I
watched the game with my wife and she was pulling again.
(35:33):
She couldn't believe I was pulling for the Patriots because
she's not a huge sports fan, but she does know.
She thinks Tom Brady's a cheating I see a nice
Christian woman who understands sports. I love it, right, She's like,
I figured you like that. But I also think though,
(35:54):
in addition to that, Rob, I think that remember there
were who knows how many Saints fans boycotted. I wonder
what the ratings were in Louisiana. Who what about the
African American boycott or even beyond African Americans that you
had the I'm with Kaepernick, you know group? Oh yeah,
a lot of people didn't watch, and nobody in New
(36:16):
Orleans apparently watched. They were pissed. Did did you see
the people they refused to watch the super Bowl because
they felt they got job. I think those two factors
were big, and then it was a slow game. It
reminded me of you know, I was you were probably
covering these series two when the Knicks and the Miami
(36:36):
he used to play in the late nineties and the
games were horrible. It was all defense. They'd end up
in the seventies the final score, but in those last
two minutes it was always exciting. It had you at
the edge of your seat because it was close, but
it would be two points four points difference between the teams.
So even though it was a bad game, it was exciting,
(36:58):
and I thought that was the case for this game.
I'll tell you what. I was into the game though,
even though it wasn't really action. Yeah, I was. I mean,
I just it was like, and I gotta give Greg
Jenny's credit on this. He said this on the Herd today.
It was like a Floyd Mayweather fight, which we know
those those have been boring and a lot of people
tune out right because right right, but he's you know,
(37:20):
he doesn't can't knock you out anymore unless he's fighting
the Uber driver up in the Japan, as you said,
but he could outpoint you. And that's kind of what
the Patriots did, you know, They outpointed him literally, so
you and your wife watched the game very nice and yeah,
name Shanique she was watching too, and she you met
(37:42):
her the night before the night before. It's funny though,
you know, I mean, you ever have to give somebody
money to watch a football game with you or just man,
look at you, Look at you? How far are you
gonna go? Don't get fired. I'm begging you. No, no,
(38:03):
come on, We're good, not at all. But no. Uh, yeah,
it was fun. Did you did? You only got keep
it on it. If I had not bet you, I
owe you wings. I was talking about it the whole time.
You gotta know about the win. You didn't even think
about going during the week, No, but I kept telling
(38:25):
you would have to be the Friday or Saturday. And
you know what, It's not like you could only go once. No,
but I couldn't win every night if I haven't been
a long time. But my brother and I had dinner.
So we had dinner, and there was a place where
you get music and dancing like after. So then after
we did that, you know, dance a little and uh
had a couple of drinks. Then I was like he
(38:47):
was gonna drive me back downtown to drop me off
at the hotel and then I was like, uh yeah, No.
I was like, you want to go to a magic city?
And my brother was like, let's go. And that was it.
How much did you pay to get in? And how
long did you stay? I heard you I had a
spy there. I heard you only stayed seven minutes? No,
(39:07):
not at all. It was fifty dollars to get in
when we left, dollars when we left. They were paying
a hundred to get in. We sort up the you know,
they had to sign out front. It was a hundred
to get in, like when we left and we were
there for maybe an hour and a half something like that.
A hundred to get in. Wow, do you see any
(39:28):
football types? You ain't gotta tell on anybody, but h no.
But you know what, there were a lot of odd
couple fans in there. We had I had about no
lie out about twenty people between you know, watching US
on FS one and the radio show where people were
like a couple of people came over like, Yo, what's
(39:48):
going on? Rob's great to see you in here, what
you're doing in here or whatever? And then other ones
were like asking me, where's Chris. I was like they
did some people ask yes, they said, where's Chris? I said,
I said, Chris is in the champagne room. Oh man,
(40:11):
it was, it was. It was sucked it soul. You
won the bet, I do owe you wings. So I
guess we're even though, because yeah, you won the other bet,
right then wet the Patriots, right, yeah, we bet both.
So yeah, so we're even. All right? But look, man,
I and you know, I said text to Rob g
and uh jonas from from from the spot he Rob G?
(40:35):
Hop on real quick? What did I text you? Rob?
What I? He said? First thing? Hey, are you near
your wife? I was like, yes, I am, okay, I'll
send you later. And you know Rob's wife has his
uh that's why she sees it as much as he does.
That's why if you didn't send him that video now
he waited to go to the studio today and then
(40:57):
he showed me, Oh you better delete it. You know,
you know your wife looking at as soon as you
get home. All right, there we go. That was a
fun time down in Atlanta. We had great time. All right.
There'll be more I couple coming up. Fox Sports Radio

my partner main man, Rob Parker, and we are brought

from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could

(41:43):
Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote. All right, Rob,
we've been talking a little bit about Julian Edelman, yes
as the MVP, whether or not he should have been MVP.
We've really kind of covered that. We both agree. No, yeah,
it really was really was no offensive MVP. Go ahead,
(42:06):
and that's no dish to him and the numbers he
put up and yes he was making catches. Excuse me,
had one hundred and forty one yards. I get all that.
I just think to be an MVP, it's gotta be
a little more than that to me. I just in
a game that was a defensive struggle that just seemed
like to be a stretch. Because see, my only thing
is if you're gonna give it to a wide receiver,
(42:28):
who doesn't have a touchdown, then then why would you
take it from Brady? Then? I'm just seriously, doesn't it
doesn't make any sense. If he leaves you down to
the game winning drive and it's not like Edelman had
three touchdowns or something in one hundred and fifty yards,
then there's no argument, right, So I totally get it.
Edelman wanted he got the pass by who he didn't
(42:49):
throw the ball to himself. I just do you see
what I'm saying. That's what That's why I thought if
you were gonna give it to Edelman, and again he was,
you know, he was good for what he does, but
every pass he was from Brady, and none of them
were spectacular. If you want to go to the most spectacular,
it was necessarily spectacular. But yeah, the bat the most
important passes of the game, the two biggest one, let's
(43:12):
put it that way. We're grunk. But it just wasn't enough,
you know what I mean, like for him yards wise,
So exactly exactly, and I've mentioned Sony Michelle, but I
think bottom line is it should have been either the
entire defense or a defensive player. Maybe it's to find
Gilmore or somebody like that Gilmore may plays. But people
(43:34):
rib here's the thing, and I think we'll agree on
this too, but people are going beyond Julian Edelman is
the MVP. Now there is a discussion, a robust discussion.
A lot of writers and experts are putting it out
there that they think Julian Edelman is a Hall of Famer. Hey,
(43:56):
Chris asked me if you think if I think Julian
Edelman is a Hall of Famer, I know what you're
gonna say. But is Julian Edelman a Hall of Famer?
No way, no, how, come on, Chris, this is the
prisoner of the moment coming off the MVP of the
Super Bowl, Like, get all of that. Stop it stop
(44:19):
with the Hall of Fame over um. And I know
he's playing a lot of playoff games and he has
some numbers. I got all that. That's not second most
receptions or something like that. And this is the other
thing that's so weird too, and I know is the
way people look at he had a four game suspension
for ped us right. Well, you know in the NFL
(44:41):
doesn't matter, but it just doesn't. Man doesn't matter to people,
And that's what's so unusual. Chris but oh my god,
Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds, they're the worst people ever
in baseball. You're right in baseball, it absolutely yes, A
he has been able to, you know, endear himself to
(45:02):
people because he's been such a great broadcast and you know,
he humbled himself to just admit, hey, yeah I did it.
I was you know what I mean. He's been very
humble in that regard. But you're right. I mean, it
doesn't only ruin your career, it destroys your reputation, which
is totally track and field baseball ewhere. I wouldn't even
(45:27):
say everything the NFL. I mean, we haven't seen a
big time NBA player, you know, but people get who
was the one player there was a good player for Orlando.
What was the name play he played on the Orlando
team when they went to the finals. It's a forward.
I don't know what I can't yes, not really as
(45:47):
thin as can you look at up with Sean Lewis.
I think was busted and I think he got like
fifty games or something. He got busted. I don't remember that,
but took the good So who got who got he
do turkery? That might be who you're thinking of twenty
(46:08):
But I thought there was somebody else. I think it
was going around. But the bottom line doesn't Lewis, I
was right. How many games dropped, so it was it
was I knew it was a couple of players in Orlando, right.
Bottom line is you're right. In baseball, it destroys, it
destroys you, and not so much in football. But you're right.
(46:30):
I mean, that is something when you're talking about a
guy who I don't even think he's borderline Hall of Fame. No,
but you're talking about a guy who really doesn't have
the numbers. Uh, and then you add in the peed us.
Let let me say this because a lot of people, Uh,
let's talk about I'm gonna throw out a few things.
One I don't want to hear. He was great. He's
(46:51):
been great in the playoffs, even when he's not been
great in the regular season, as a reason he should
make the Hall of Fame. Right, Robert Ry has seven
champions and ship rings, is one of the most clutch
players in nf NBA history. Definitely not a Hall of Famer.
Rights just weren't good enough. No, No, Andre Goodolla. As
(47:13):
we know we've mentioned many times was a Finals MVP,
Cornbread Maxwell the finals MVP, and Larry Bird's first championship
teammate of Birds, neither one of them is Hall of Famers.
It's a Hall of Famer. And some people brought up
have brought up Lynn Swann, who is, you know, a
Hall of Famer, and they've said he's mainly made it
(47:34):
based on his postseason play. And there's some truth to that.
But let me tell you the difference between Lynn Swann
and Julian Edelman Number one. Lynn Swann was a three
time Pro bowler and a one time All Pro. Edelman
hasn't even sniffed the Pro Bowl, let alone being an
All Pro. You could brush your case right then and there.
(47:54):
I mean, that tells you. That tells you something. I mean,
he's never been a You're right, he's never even been
out Pro Bowl. You could you can rush your case right,
not all pro, a Pro bowlers. That's and Lynz Swann
made some of the most spectacular catches in NFL history,
not just Super Bowl history, INNFL history, some of the
(48:15):
most acrobatic, dynamic catches and Super Bowls. And they were bombs,
they were fly packed. There's sixty four yards forty seven yards.
Edelman has one touchdown in three Super Bowls and it
was three yards. I mean, I'm sorry. He Lyn Swann
average nineteen yards a catch in the playoffs. He's got
(48:37):
like nine tds and sixteen playoff games. Edelman's got five
TVs in eighteen playoff games. I mean, come on, taking
nothing away from him. He was very good yesterday. I'm
not gonna hoot and holler about him being MVP. You know,
it's fine. I mean I don't think he was necessarily
better than all the other offensive players, but it's fine.
(48:58):
But Hall of Fame famous, like outrageous, prisoner of the moment,
Oh my god, Edelman was a MVP. There have been
players who aren't that great Christian. You notice what MVPs, right,
because they had a great game or they had a
great series against the team and you get and they
(49:18):
get credit for it. But that doesn't make you a
Hall of Fame guy just based off of that. I mean,
imagine the people that you would have to put in
the Hall of Fame if you let Julian Edelman in
a talk. I mean, you know, it's just his regular
It's like we talked about Eli. You know, look, you
(49:39):
and I both kind of feel Eli will get in.
You definitely think he's getting in and deserves it. But
we've had people on the show who said his regular
seasons aren't good enough. Right, My only reason it's been
very good. He's been better than Edelman in the playoffs
his number he won two though, I mean that's he
wants MVP, and the games were dramatic when both of
(50:03):
them were dramatic. And don't forget you want to call
him luck whatever he knocked off the eighteen Patriots seriously, Yeah, yeah,
I mean, doesn't that count for something? No, you're right,
And and also Eli, I don't know off the top
of my head, but I bet you I'm gonna look
it up. I'm sure he's made a few Pro Bowls,
(50:23):
oh yeah, never all pro probably, but I'm sure he's
made some probles. And the idea that there was no
Pro Bowl yeah yeah, no, come on, yeah, no Pro
bowls for Edelman. But we're gonna put him in the
Hall of Fame too much. And look, I get it,
you the team he plays for is you know, he's
(50:45):
blessed to be on the Patriots, and he is effective
in that system. But I'm telling you if you send
him anywhere else, just like Dion Brands, just like Wells
West Welker, he would disappear, he would disappear. I'm sorry,
I agree with you. I just think people get caught
up in the moment. They see what's going on. Oh yeah, wow,
(51:06):
and then somebody says, well, the only guy who has
more yards in the playoffs is uh Jerry Rice. Oh
he should be in a Hall of fame. Let's remember
a lot of you know, they've been in so many
more playoff games everybody else. And you know now they're
throwing the ball more than you know I mentioned earlier
in the show. So I mean brash off through the
(51:28):
boss fourteen times and in a Super Bowl, think about
thatteen times in another Yeah, they just weren't throwing as much.
They ran the football and if you needed like a
third down pass and a big spot, you might have
to pass it. But that's not the way the game
was played eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. And Chris,
(51:51):
let's go to the phones. All right, let's do that,
all right, Jacob in Las Vegas, you're on the odd couple.
Fox Sports Radio, what you got, Jacob, what's up, gentlemen?
How we don't want to We're doing great. It's happening. Man, good.
I got two quick points. One. These are both off
the top of my head, but I think they're right.
Edwin has I believe thirty career TD passes TD catches
(52:11):
and um, Randy Moss had twenty two in a season.
Right there, you go that. Hey, that's a great that's
a great point right there. You know, I mean, I'm sorry,
let's put Jim Plunkett in the Hall of Fame, right
and he's not, and he's not any one to watch
it call the Super Bowl. As far as MVP yesterday goes,
the guy was uncoverable. They tried man and him, they
tried zone him, they had to double cover him, and
(52:32):
even then he got open. He was the only guy
who could get open. Even Gross was covered on his
great catches. And I think he was definitely the difference
maker in the game because every time they needed the
first down, he got it. But we also he was fine.
But don't you think the defense it was history making.
The defense. The defense was incredible both sides. Yeah, sure,
it was all right. I appreciate the call. Thanks so
(52:54):
much eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox if you
want to jump in nine nine six six three sixty nine.
But I just think it's a bad precedent to say
I'm shocked. I am shocked that there is this ground
swell of support for Julian Edelman being a Hall of Famer. Yeah.
(53:15):
People just get caught in, them caught up, and they
just think everything they're watching is just, oh, should he's
a Hall of famer. This is what the Hall of
Famer has been reduced to because so many Chris and
a lot of these Hall of Fames are getting in,
you know what I mean, And you go, I don't
like it's like a halfway hall of Famer. You don't
(53:36):
even you're not a Hall of Famer. Should be no
doubt about it, right, slam dug and think some people
had the nerve not to think Terrell Owens r. Terrell
Owens is a Hall of Famer? You want to put
in Julian Edelman? All right, let's scoo he's in. One more.
Chris Kevin in Indiana. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up keV? Hey? Guys? How you
(53:58):
doing great? Good? Hey? I wanted to sam a Colts fan.
If my man edg ed and James has been on
the ballot for three seasons or three years now, and
he has thirteenth all time in rushing yards with two
seasons essentially destroyed by a knee injury. Right, he's got
four fifteen hundred yard plus rushing seasons. If he's getting
snubbed three years in a row, it's a joke to
(54:19):
even discuss Julian Edelman in that conversation. You're right, it is, Kevin.
I mean, people just react and go overboard. And I'm
with me, I don't see it. Isaac Bruce isn't in
the Hall of Fame, remember him? Yeah, Super Bowl champ
with the Rams, four time Pro bowler. I mean that
(54:40):
dude's got over fifteen thousand yards receiving over a thousand receptions.
I mean, come on, yes, I don't even get I
can't see the voters putting in Edelman unless he unless
his next like seven years phenomenal. Good luck with that
got thirty touchdown. Stop it all right, This Julian Edelman
(55:01):
deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. Rod Woodson
Hall of Famer himself owns a gold jacket, and he
has the answer. Next is The Eye Couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brusar and Rob Parker weekdays at

Our next gas we were just talking about whether or
not Julian Edelman is a Hall of Famer. Our next
(56:04):
guest knows he is in the Hall of Fame. He
was a no doubt Hall of Famer, one of the
best defensive backs in NFL history. Now an FS one contributed.
Rod Woods and Ride, welcome to the Eye couple. What's up, Rod?
What's up? My brother to another mother? No doubt, we
saw you working hard down in Atlanta, Man, you all
over the place. Man, they had they're working us, And
(56:29):
like me, Ride resisted your temptation to get us to
go to Man City. Yeah, that wasn't happening. That was
not happening while Chris was having a prayer meeting at
Morehouse College. That's right. I'm just saying it wasn't good.
Lightening the youth, inspiring the youth, and uh to do right.
(56:52):
You were at Magic City. I was putting my money
in a different plate. Well, Rod, start, let's start with
the Hall of Fame. We'll get We obviously have a
lot to cover in the game. But both Rob and
I think it's just ridiculous. As much as he's a
very good player and productive, Flare and Heah, Julian Edelman
(57:15):
is nowhere near being a Hall of Famer in our estimation.
What do you think come home? Man? I'm not even
gonna answer that question. Serious. I'm serious, Hey, listen. I
respect all players, and I respect Julian Ediman. I respect
that how he grew up, you know, being a quarterback
and undersize and and you know, coming into his own
(57:37):
and playing really good throughout his career. I respect that. Um.
You know, I wouldn't even know if he should have
been the MVP. I mean, he scored thirteen points, he
didn't score a touchdown, thank you. You know to me,
Gilmore had five tackles and intercept a critical interception to
clinch it. Um. I thought he could have been named
the MVP. But at the end of the day, UM,
(57:59):
dance your question, even though I don't think I should. UM.
I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. I think
he's a good player. I think he's a solid player.
I think Tom Brady makes him look really good. But
he does play well. He understands his position, he understands
how to run routes. He understands how to set the
DBS up and create that separation the time to throw
(58:20):
into I give him a lot of credit for all
that help me out, good Rod. I'm sorry, I mean
I'm to say I give him a lot of credit
for all that. I just don't. I don't know. He's
not even close to being one of the top receivers
to ever play in the National Football League. Somebody just
called up and said, he has thirty career touchdowns. Randy
Moss at twenty two in a season. What are you
(58:40):
talking about? Right? That's my that's my point. I just
think he got to be I think people gotta pump
their brakes when they start thinking Hall of Fame. You know,
I think the Hall of Fame is for the best
of the best of the best of the best. That's
why there's only three hundred some of my players in
there in the history of football. We know the one
hundred year anniversaries coming up up. Um. I don't like
(59:01):
disrespecting the Hall like a lot of people do by
putting names out there. They don't think that really shouldn't
be there. No, imagine how that will water it down.
You know, then, no, you can't do guys. You have
to bring in. You know, if you put he's not
he's not going in. I just don't think that that's
a real conversation. I appreciate, uh Rob, what happened uh
(59:22):
to the Rams? I mean, the last thing I thought
was that they wouldn't be able to score uh score.
I mean, let alone, they to score a touchdown and
only three points and it took a miracle fifty three
yard kick for them to even get on the score board.
What happened to their offense, Well, you know, they couldn't
run the ball for whatever odd reason. Um, I mean
they you know, every every uh, you know, every now
(59:46):
and then throughout that game. Um. You know, I think
Todd Burley long has played with sixteen yards from from
the line of scrimmage. Um. You know it was they
were struggling to make things happen. And you know j
Goss just man, he missed a lot of throws. I
remember it was a critical third and two. It was
on like the forty five yard line, and he threw
(01:00:07):
the ball instead of throwing two Cooks in the flat
who was wide open. He tried to fit it in
in the middle of the field and it got knocked down.
I mean he was throwing wobblers throughout the game. He
missed Cooks in the back of the end zone when
he was wide over. It was late. It was way
too late to let the dB knock it out. I
just think I think you know, you play in that
(01:00:30):
game for the first time, and you know, sometimes you
can get overwhelmed. I think things started going bad for him,
you know, uh, you know, he missed the cadence the
one time, which you normally don't see from quarterbacks. Maybe
he was a little bit nervous, a little bit rattled.
M He just didn't play like he did throughout the
whole season and the first two games in the postseason.
(01:00:51):
So and you got to give credit to the New
England Patriots. Man. They rushed the ball for one hundred
and fifty four yards right down the throat of the
rams in the ram going to rushed for a sixty
two yards amazing. Couple were joined by Hall of Famer
and Super Bowl champion Ride Woodson. Ride. We know Brady
wasn't tremendous, but obviously he led that game winning drive.
(01:01:14):
Did this game winning his sixth Super Bowl. I don't
know where you were as far as the goat conversation
with him, but did it change your view at all
of him positively, negatively, enhance anything or anything like that.
I think, you know, we all have to slow down
by giving goats because I think there's different generations of
(01:01:35):
players he's played through. He came in the league, it
was a little bit different game man, and as he
was playing, the rules of change for to make it
easier for him to play. I think he's a generational player.
He's definitely arguable one of the top three quarterbacks, top
four quarterbacks to ever played in the National Football League.
So that's a great argument. So people are always going
(01:01:56):
to bring up the rings. As you guys know, I've
always said Dan Marino was the best quarterback that I've
seen in the modern ary. He has and he has
no rings, but it was just a fact of how
he could throw the football in the pocket and he
couldn't get out of the pocket. He was very similar
to Tom Brady in that aspect. I think he had
a stronger arm when they were younger, and he continued
(01:02:17):
to have that strong arm just like Tom Brady has
when he was older. But the rules were completely different.
He wasn't protected in the pocket, he wasn't protected out
of the pocket, his reaver, his receivers weren't protected down
the field. So it's a little bit different games. So
I don't like putting one person over the other, but
I like the argument's sake that he's going to be,
you know, arguing that he can be the best player. No,
I don't buy one of the best quarterbacks ever to play.
(01:02:41):
I just I'm a Joe Montana guy, and I just
loved what he did in the postseason and how good
he won two with Jerry Rice, two without Jerry Rice,
one with two different coaches. I just when I look
at all that in the body of work, Tom Brady
won two Super Bowls way through one touchdown And also
did he did this look a little bit like Peyton
(01:03:02):
Manning who got you know, carried by the defense and
won that last championship for him when he was in Denvery.
Remember how Peyton Manning had. Yeah, but he played better
than Peyton. Right, he played better than Peyton. I mean Tom.
What I do like about Tom and what I like
about Josh Daniels is um. You know, you gotta think
(01:03:24):
about the drive that they had. They'd ran the same
three plays back to back to back and then went
straight down the field of score touchdown. Well the run
was a touchdown, but he went straight down the field
to get him in great position to score to touchdown.
So it was it was outstanding play calling because normally
offensive coordinators don't run back to back plays and defensive
(01:03:46):
players like they're gonna run that three in a row.
And they ran it three times in a row and
it got him straight down there. They found through weakness
and they exploited it for that one drive that they
needed to win the game. All right, Right, everybody from
Gurley himself to Sean McVeigh to his teammates, there haven't
been any leaks that, oh he's really hurt, Like everybody's
(01:04:08):
saying he's healthy. What do you think's going on with
Todd Gurley? And I kind of am I wrong to say?
I want to hear him come out and be like, look,
I wanted the football. I want the football, like I'm
you know what I mean. Like he's been very you know,
saying the right thing. But is that kind of problematic
because he's kind of gone away so easily in terms of,
(01:04:30):
you know, being a factor with this team, and he
was so great in that Dallas game. Right, this is
what I think. I think there is an issue. I
think they're all trying to downplay it. I don't know
if he's gonna need surgery. If he doesn't need surgery,
that's fine, you know, maybe time a healthy injury, but
you don't take a player like Todd Gurley and don't
(01:04:52):
let him touch the football the way he should be
touching the football. I know it happened in the past
in some games in a regular season that MCA. He
kind of got away from him at times and Jared
Golf was thrown the ball well, but down the stretch
in critical moments, you need your best player to be
touching the football. He had a couple ten carries. He
should have had at least fifteen more carries, and if
(01:05:14):
he has fifteen more carries, then maybe it's a different game.
But since he didn't, to me, that's the way I'm
saying there was something wrong. I don't think he was
one hundredercent healthy, which nobody's one hundred percent healthy at
this time of the year. But I think there was
a bigger underlying issue with his leg. I don't know
if it's his hamstring, I don't know if it's his knee,
but if that's my guy, if that's my number one
(01:05:37):
running back, and the way he's played all year long
for US, and he was in that MVP race, he
was in talking, I meant at the three quarters way
through the season. Then I'm talking about there has to
be something else for McBay not to give him the
football the way he didn't in the postseason. Rod We've seen,
you know, really good running backs just not be the
(01:05:58):
same after an injury. Way whatever. They just gave him
that four year, sixty million dollar extension. Do you think
this might be something problematic going forward? It's a it's
an issue just for the fact, you know. I remember
I called the Ram game when they played the Eagles
for Westwood One, and I remember Girly not playing late
(01:06:21):
in the game, and he stayed on that bike. He
stayed on the bike, and after that game on, it
was rare that he was, you know, on the field
for elongated period of time. Yeah, so, you know, so
it makes me wonder, you know, what is really going
on with his body and with his leg. Hopefully time
will heal it. But if it doesn't, you know, you know,
(01:06:42):
we'll find out if he needs a surgery. If he's
gonna have surgery, he's gonna have it pretty soon. And
I'm hoping for his sake because I hate to see
players go down with a young career. But the guy
is such a great player. He's a dynamic running back,
he's a dynamic receiver out of the backfield. He's a
mismatch to linebackers in space. Uh. Those type of things
(01:07:05):
that you just hard to find in the National Football League,
And when you do find them, you know, you don't
want to see a guy have a limited opportunity to
send extend his career with the knacking injury. All right,
that's the great Rod Woodson. Man. We appreciate the time.
It's always Hey man, Hey guys, I'm starting to cry
right now because I'm not gonna talk to you guys
(01:07:25):
for quite a while. That's right, I'm my vacation time.
Right Well, I'm a I'm a just well it's not
really vacation because my wife's gonna keep making me work.
But you know I'm gonna call you guys and bother
you guys here and there on ya your normal phone.
You could do that whatever, brother later. All right, who
(01:07:48):
deserves the most blame for the Rams Super Bowl meltdown?
We got the answer? Next? Uh, I can't wait. First,
let's get the dab Carson for the latest in sports them. Hey, guys,
we officially have two new head coaches in the NFL,
the Bengals formally announced the hiring of Rams quarterbacks coach
Zach Taylor as the new head coach in Cincinnati, and
(01:08:10):
the Dolphins formally announced the hiring of Patriots linebackers coach
Brian Flores as the new head coach there in Miami
Super Bowl. Of course, a couple of questions to be
asked heard will answered. Will Gronkowski retire? The Patriots tight
end said he's going to take a couple of weeks
and think about it before he tries to decide whether
(01:08:30):
replace another NFL season or not. Tom Brady, of course,
once again stated he will be back on the field
next fall. NBA news, the Laker's latest offer for Anthony Davis,
according to Brad Turner of the La Times, is Lonzo Ball,
Kyle Kuzma, Brandon ingram Or Gen Rondo, Lance Stevenson, Michael
Beasley in two first round draft picks. Dab, you left
(01:08:51):
out one person I heard in the trade. Who's that?
Isn't Jeanie Bust involved in that trade as well? I
don't think so. I don't think it is. I mean,
my goodness, that's ridiculous, basically clearing house having two superstars
and seeing whether what else, you know, what they can
grab off the scrap heap to to add to those
guys to make a run. I still if I'm New
(01:09:14):
Orleans and what I'm being told is GMS from around
the league are telling Dell, don't do it. Not do it.
If you trade him there in the summer, fine, But
now I'm look, Dell would look spineless if he if
he makes this trade right now, he didn't get that
same deal in the summer right and deb it would
(01:09:37):
be like the Lakers just came and just puncd you
and took your player. That's what it is. Well exactly,
and now a question for you though, now you know
Anthony Davis, his dad came out and said, don't send
him to the Celtics. Davis reportedly gave the Pelicans a
list that he would, you know, agree to sign a
long term deal with, including the Clippers in the Bucks,
with the Celtics or not a team he would sign
(01:09:58):
a long term deal with. Everybody's talking about all this
stuff that the Celtics can offer, But why would they.
They're not gonna do that if the guy's not Danny
Aingel might Danny Ainge might He's actually come out and said,
or there's been reports that he would do it if
I were him and I resigned Kyrie Irving, which is
questionable at this point. I would take a gamble on
(01:10:18):
Anthony Davis because of how good they could be with
those two. If Kyrie's gone, then I wouldn't totally. I
think Danny Ainge might do it. Yeah, I wouldn't, But
because Kyrie's playing coy now, he's playing like maybe I'll come.
He left, He left the door open. Even when he
made his first statement deb he said his plan was
his plan. He's he's moved away from that, even though
(01:10:41):
you know significantly I believe, but you know it's it's
the bottom line is even look the Knicks, what if
they get the number one or two picks right right?
Maybe they want to, you know, just wait till you
can get the best offers. Yes, my goodness, exactly. Dude,
don't be in a hurry. Don't don't don't accept the
marriage proposal of the first guy that asks any other
thing you would have to ask yourself if you're going
(01:11:03):
to give me all of these players, they can't be
worth that, you know what I mean? Well, they know
it doesn't make any sense, right, I mean, and look,
it would be better for us, Rob if I think
I mean, maybe you disagree. But Anthony Davis with the Lakers,
that's a great story, brings excitement and all that. I'm
just trying to put myself into New Orleans Pelican shoes.
(01:11:25):
I'm sorry. I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't really even
be talking with the Lakers much. No, no, exactly exactly. Hey.
By the way, your check engine light could signify a
variety of different issues with your car. The AutoZone Fixed
Finders service will help you trouble shoot the issue for
free and save your time and money. Another note in
that NBA story, LaVar Ball, of course, has now spoken out.
(01:11:47):
He told the ESPN that if a Lonzo is traded,
he wants his son to go to Phoenix, not New Orleans.
He added, quote, and I am going to speak it
into existence. There is no trade to Phoenix. Come on,
what does he talk? Did he speak forty five percent?
Shooting speak? Shooting exists? Hey, Chris, that's a good one,
(01:12:08):
since it's goodness by bar But come on, and that
that it's tired. The act is tied right, yes, And
by the way, if You're gonna grow basketball players, don't you.
I mean it isn't the free throw? Isn't that one
of the first things you are being consistent. Look, if
you're gonna talk like Muhammed Ali, you better be able
(01:12:28):
to back it up like Muhammed Ali did. That's all
I'm saying exactly. Well, we're gonna be back with the
odd couple in ten seconds. But first, a word from farmers.
From a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a
dog taking a joy ride, we've covered it. Talk to farmers.

on what I was bringing up. It's perfect. Somebody thought
that they were listening to an old tape of the
Fabulous sports Babe. Well, thank you very much, there you go.
(01:13:12):
I never I never listened to her, but I right
on that note. She had a big show for a
long time. All right, oh y'all, don't light go. I'm
sorry I brought her. I didn't. I don't remember. I
remember her, but I don't really remember this show. Okay,
we'll call this a newer, better version. Yes, right, right,
and light and a lighter version as well. Ok it's

or two. Because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers underwritten. My farmers took fire intrans Exchanges and
affiliates products unavailable in every state Musica. Monday, it is
(01:14:19):
the Odd couple of Chris Brussard and Rob Parker, and
car shopping can be confused in folks, they hit you
with terms like dealer, price, list, price invoice. What you
need is truecar because truecar shows you what other people
paid for the car that you want. That way, you
can recognize a good price from a bad price. When
you're ready to buy a new or even a used car,
(01:14:39):
make sure you visit truecar and get your confidence up.
All right, Rob, it's time to play the blame game.
We've talked about the Patriots at nauseum, but who do
you blame? On the Rams side? A lot of people
are saying that Sean McVay has fallen off of his
pedestal and you know, been brought down side. Do you
(01:15:00):
blame him? A lot of people are going off when
Jared Goff saying he's not an elite quarterback, and some
even saying he never will be. Maybe there's somebody else.
What do you think? I have one clear guy when
I look at that. And that's not to say that
you could take a look at Girle or McVeigh and
(01:15:22):
put blame on them, But in my eyes, Jared Golf
is the blame. He was terrible. He missed big throws.
He did not complete what needed to be big time
plays in the big action. Here's he is on the
front of the stage right. Lights are blaring on him, Chris.
(01:15:43):
He did not perform. In fact, that was the worst
performance by a man in the mask since Adam West
played Batman in the old sitcom Hey Man. I used
to love that sitcom. I was my favorite superhero. Come on, man,
that was just that man. I'm not dissing him, but
(01:16:04):
you know what I mean. It was pretty corny when
you look at it nowadays, but back as a ten
year old, it was great. It was but but Jared Goff,
to me, was to blame. There was an open man
in the in the in the end zone. He threw
it too late. There were just a couple and then
you know the interception. I just I looked at it
(01:16:27):
and I said, he's the guy that we saw his
rookie year when he was awful and uh and I
know he's had big numbers and put up, but that
was a time where he just needed to make a
play or two, not a thousand plays. It was a three,
three game, Chris. He just needed to make a play
or two. That's all he needed to make. Well, let
me say this first about McVeagh. People that are jumping
(01:16:49):
on mcvaigh and saying he's not what we thought he was,
and we've jumped to conclusion. Now, granted, I think people
have over stated his greatness already hasn't yet won a
Super Ball, you know. Now he's got a coaching tree.
I think it's too soon for that. So I get
all that, But look, the dude is thirty three years old.
He's in what his third year coach or second year,
(01:17:11):
second year coach, and he was up against the greatest
coach I believe. And I even though you might not
think he's the goat, he's certainly you know he's up there.
He's an all time great coach. He just out coached
Andy Reid. He coached circles around him, Anthony Lynn, same thing.
I'm not This doesn't change anything as far as my
(01:17:32):
feelings about Sean mcvayh. You know, I'm not gonna his
defense was great. His defense solved the Patriots for the
most part. So I'm not gonna kill Sean McVay. But
I don't think golf is alone in sharing the lion's
share of the blame for this game. I gotta put
some of it on Tied Gurley, And like I said
to Rod Woods, and look, we can all say he's injured,
(01:17:55):
and maybe he is. I don't know. But what I
do know is Gurley himself said he's not injured. Sean
McVay said he's not injured. His teammates have said he's
not injured. And Rob, you know, in this day and
age of just about everything leaking, there have been no leaks,
no one, no anonymous source that it said. You know,
(01:18:17):
Tyd really is banged up. He's not the same. And
like you said a few weeks ago, he looked great
against Dallas game, but then you know c J. Anderson
didn't have a No, he didn't have a great But
c J. Anderson is c J. Anderson, right, Todd Gurley
and I'm look, I like the way Tyd carries himself.
(01:18:39):
But if I'm a hundred percent, you better believe that
I'm like yo, I need to get the ball. Like
when Ezekiel Elliot was at Ohio State member, they didn't
give him the ball in a big game. He talked
about it. If I'm arguably the best running back in
the league, and I'm getting bitch for some dude who
(01:19:01):
was out of the league a few weeks ago. You
think I'm just gonna sit there and and not say anything.
So I don't know if he's hurt or what. But
Todd Gurley, I mean, I'm just taking him at his
word and everybody else in the organization at their word.
What in the world happened? And and look, we can
(01:19:21):
go back to the game, the NFC Championship game. He
dropped two passes two passes early and then he disappeared.
He was bitched for a lot of that game after that.
So I don't know. Look, maybe we'll find out something
coming up, but this was huge. I mean, he we
all have said all year long, Girly is the key
(01:19:44):
to that offense. And for that key to just all
of a sudden disappear, I'm sorry, it's it's a problem.
And so i gotta put it on Girly and Golf. Yeah,
I mean pick one. You're gonna tell You're gonna say
it's Girly then, and I'll say no, I'm I mean,
you can't. They're both have been great in this these
last two day years of a resurgence for the ram
(01:20:06):
but they went from averaging almost thirty three points to three. Chris.
The last team to score three points in the Super
Bowl and lose goes back to the Dolphins in nineteen
seventy one. That's how inept they were. Think about that
nineteen seventy one. And that's why we're supposed to be
(01:20:30):
the offense that's gonna that one of the top ten
offenses in the history of the NFL, not just this season,
they're top ten offense in the history of the league. Well,
it says a lot about Bill Belichick. We know he's
a defensive, you know, minded coach, and that's where he
cut his teeth. Think about this. They scored that Rams
(01:20:52):
team scored fifty four points on Kansas City and he
held him the three. That's what I'm trying to say.
It's ridiculous three. And now to look at where they
are now and what happened, and uh, I don't know.
I just I don't think Jared was was there. I
just I get you one, I get you. I mean,
(01:21:14):
I think, look, I hope this is way off. But
like I said to Rod Woodson, they gave him four years,
sixty million, and Rod, we've seen running backs, whether it's
due to injury, overuse, whatever, they can change quickly for
a running back, that's hope. That's why gur No, I
mean for him on an individual great. I'm just saying
(01:21:37):
that's why, because you're right, it can change, you know
what I mean, Chris, Well, that's what the players should
fight for in the next CBA, like instead of these
running backs having to wait till they can really get
paid because most of them, a lot of their best
years are early and then get paid and then they
falled off by the time they're up a contract, and
(01:21:58):
you know, they don't get the money. So hopefully we'll
see the old Tie Gurley next season. But I don't know, man,
this was baffling. All right, it's the couple. Fox Sports

Anthony Davis, trying to get out of New Orleans, is
reportedly given the Pelicans a list of teams with which
he would be willing to sign a long term deal.
According to Adrian Warzanowski, among those teams, or the Clippers
and the Bucks, but not the Boston Celtics. Lakers trying
(01:22:40):
to get a deal done with the Pelicans for Davis.
In fact, according to Brad Turner of the La Times,
the latest offer from the Lakers consists of Lonzo Ball,
Kyle Kuzma, Brandon ingram Or Gen Rondo, Lance Stevenson Michael
Beasley in two first round draft picks. Meanwhile, during the
Mavericks press conference introducing Chris Porzingis, team owner Mark Cuban
(01:23:02):
and the player confirmed they're working on a long term
deal to keep Porzingis in Dallas. Our goal is to
keep these two together for the next twenty years. That
was Mark Cuban talking about Christops Porzingis and Luca don Chich.

Is that right, Greg? That's beautiful? Yeah, man, I thought it, Chris.
That was a great, great odd couple for though. Man,
we wait a minute. I wanted to go. I just
got busy and I invited robbed like three times Greg Jenny,
(01:24:11):
as you know, and I and I got silence. I
got it was crickets. No, you know what. I was
gonna make it, and then something came up. And you know, Greg,
next time you can hang out with me one time.
You know, you don't you know, there may there may
be crickets, There may be a bunch of silence. I
(01:24:35):
may do what you did. That is a classic on Instagram.
If you haven't seen, check out christ It is great. Greg.
You know what I told Chris, I thought of the
same exact thing that we should post those two pictures
you know together, you know what. That's why that's why
I will say this. I respect you because you are
(01:24:59):
who you are. You're non apologetic. We're working on you.
We work hey and real and real talk though, Rob,
Greg was great the event. I mean, he really said
some powerful things to the students at Morehouse. So it
(01:25:19):
was in all seriousness, Gregg, thanks a lot. You did
a tremendous job. All right, let's let's get to the
Super Bowl. UM. Let's start with Edelman. Um, he was
the MVP. Do you think that was the right choice. Um.
You know what, I don't disagree with the choice. Uh,
simply because of his impact on the game. I thought,
(01:25:43):
when you look at what they were able to do offensively,
he was the reason why that they were able to
do what they did offensively. UM. My only objection to
it would be because it was such a defensive driven game. Um.
And when you look at how well both defenses played
in the uphill battle that the defenses had to had
(01:26:07):
to come come with. As far as performance, someone from
the defensive side could have easily been defensive MVP for
New England Patriots. My preference would have been Stefan Gilmore
because obviously he stilled the game with that interception and
his play all throughout the game. UM. But that's just
(01:26:28):
my objective opinion. But I didn't have a problem with
with Jin the Element receiving MVP, and you brought up
the same idea. If you would have said before the
game that the Rams would hold the Patriots to thirteen,
They're winning a Super Bowl, right, exactly exactly, I thought,
You know, I can't as much as you know, has
(01:26:50):
a lot has been made about the game and was
entertaining or boring. I'm a football guy, so I was.
I was intrigued by the game. I wasn't as much
entertained by the game, but I could follow the game
because of how how I am when it comes to
(01:27:11):
just my knowledge of the game and understanding what that
was that we were watching. Defensively, and it was special way.
Phillips did an unbelievable job for the Rams. He did
everything that he was supposed to do, but offensively. That's
why it's the ultimate team sport, because all every shade
of the game has to be able to hold up
(01:27:32):
their end, and the Rams just couldn't get it done offensively.
It's the eye couple were joined by Super Bowl champion
Greg Jenny's what you think of Brady like in terms
we know how he played, but in terms of did
this change enhance take away from what you have thought
about him and his legacy? You know, what it has
(01:27:55):
to enhance it, because obviously he added another Super Bowl
Ring Lombardi Trophy. I wasn't and it wasn't one of
his greatest games. Uh, it was one of It was
a It wasn't even a tom Brady performance so to speak,
that we had become so accustomed to seeing him in
(01:28:18):
these clutch games just be so special. He was okay
U and he was just okay. But he put in
my opinion, it looked like, Okay, my defense is playing
so well, I'm not gonna do anything to h put
them in harm's away, meaning I'm not gonna turn the
(01:28:39):
ball over like I did on my first throw of
the game. So I saw things in tom Brady that
was like, man, what is he doing? Where is he throwing?
Why is he throwing it like that? But when I
saw the grand scheme of the game and how things
were playing out, I could understand and see him playing
conservatives like I'm not gonna afford same thing. They're playing
(01:29:01):
great defensively, I don't really have answers for it, so
I'm not going to try to force something like a
lot of quarterbacks would try to do well on the
other side of the field. Jared Golf seemed to be
a day later dollars short. I mean, he has a
receiver wide opening the end zone and it just he
was he was late. Yeah, I thought I thought that
(01:29:24):
was the play of the game in my opinion. I
was on the herd today and I pointed out that
particular play because when you're struggling offensively that much and heat,
that was your primary offensive weapon. That had it gone
Brandon Cooks, ye, and you you do come to him,
but you come to him that late, and it was
(01:29:44):
a busted cover. You gotta take advantage of that. You
can't miss that opportunity. And we saw the response and
the emotion the body language of an Aaron Downald right
after that possession. It was almost demoralizing because they were
doing their job, but they only needed get him to
score one time, I believe it, and that defense would
(01:30:04):
have been able to be even more special, but they
never got that opportunity. So are you Are you concerned
about Todd Gurley going forward? Because everybody's saying he's not hurt,
And if he's not hurt, then I don't know what
in the world happened, because he started the playoffs great
with that game against Dallas, but since then nothing, Yeah,
(01:30:27):
I have I have my own concerns about him going
moving forward, there has to and I know he's saying
that he's he's healthy, nothing's wrong with the me um.
If that is the case, I do have concerns because
moving forward, I'm is this the Todd Gurley that we're
going to see? Because if this is it, then man,
(01:30:48):
what how We've been bamboozled. We've been hurting him and
they paid him sixty million over four years. Yes, and
I just have to believe that there is something deeper
that they're not disclosing of what's going on with Toyd Gurley,
because to have him not even on the football field,
(01:31:09):
understand this, like it's one thing to use him as
a decoy, it's another thing not to he even have
him on the football field to where he's a non
stactor like that. That That's that was what was mind
blowing to me. Would you like to see I mean
I was saying, if indeed, why I would like put yourself,
(01:31:32):
I mean put yourself in that position. Wouldn't you be
coming out like, look, I want the ball. I don't
know what's going on, but you know you don't want
to be too divisive, but I want to see a
little bit of attitude and demanding the ball, you know before.
And yeah, I don't think anyone would have thought it
was divisive because I think everyone watching, all viewers, rams
(01:31:58):
fans are looking like, show me something that okay, if
you're if you're if you are healthy, showed me attitude,
show me some emotion that you really want this thing,
because right now it just seems okay for you, it
seems like, oh, you know what, let's put whoever in. No,
everybody's not an impact player like you. I'm sorry. I
(01:32:19):
love C James and I love what he was able
to do, the lift that he gave this team throughout
the playoffs in the last stretch of the season. But
he's not Todd Gurley. He's not Tied Gurley. He doesn't
have the impact that Todd Gurley has when healthy and
when he's able to be used at his maximum potential.
And I just felt like, yeah, to your point, show
(01:32:41):
me something that you care. I don't you going out
of the game. You've been on the sideline. Show me
some frustration, show me some annoyance. Something was there, some
bloom taken off of the Sean McVay rose. You know
they've already got a tree, a coaching tree before he
ever won anything. Uh, he got out coached, you know.
(01:33:04):
You know we were actd that earlier. Today, I don't
I don't take any short off of him. I like
the way you phrase this, Um alright, I like, I
still like, um, this is what you have he have
to understand. And I believe he, but you lun by experience.
(01:33:26):
The regular season is one thing. Like there's a lot
of great coaches that can coach in the regular season,
and then there there's some coaches that can pick it
up another level in the playoffs. Each level of the playoffs,
wild Card Division round, they have to actually championship game
and then obviously super Bowl. Every level you have to
lock in and be even greater. And I think he
(01:33:48):
was great. He locked in each level. But then this this,
this game, it just seemed to be almost too much
where I didn't see any I didn't see the creativity.
I didn't see the innovation. I see the saying that
the bay that had his team in at Soldier Field,
(01:34:10):
that couldn't stand, that couldn't counterer what what um the
Bears were doing? To them and they couldn't connor even
with the new patents were doing. And I just at
this point in the season, this is your second thing
year with this team and this nucleus. I need to
see the lot of you. I understand this. And this
(01:34:32):
is him under him going through that mode of you
know what, this is a super Bowl. I gotta even
I gotta bring even more. I can't just be the creative,
innovative new kid on the block. I gotta be And
he got slapped out out coached by Bill Belichick. I
thought Wade any good a great job. I think if anything,
(01:34:56):
you know, there's a certain teams across the hall meetings
today he's going to be sending across the way of
getting what he did wrong is how he can reclame
offensively on the side of the ball. Why what what
they need to do? Move forward? Right? Greg? Uh? What
(01:35:18):
what about as as people do as they do move forward?
The rams? Uh do do you do you take a
look at anything like the Jared golf. I know you
could have a bad game and you could miss some
throws or whatever. But like I think people were ready
to put him as an elite quarterback because their offense
(01:35:40):
was scoring thirty three points a game, and I get that,
but but maybe where we are rush to judgment to
put him in the elite category. Um, you know, I
never put him in the league category. I think he's
a really good quarterback. He's top two in our league
right now when he's given the opportunity to step into
his throws and make things happen. What we saw yesterday
(01:36:02):
was an offensive line who had played together all year,
who was getting a lot of credit for being one
of the best offensive lines in football, get flat out demolished.
I mean they got beat from tackle to tackle, something
that we didn't see them do all year, to where
(01:36:22):
Jared Goff he just couldn't be as effective. And I'm
not completely blaming it on the offensive line, because Jared
Goff has to still make some of those throws. You
can't step into every throw. Guys can't block make every block.
But the reason why we saw Patrick Mahomes still have
success is because of his ability to be off script
(01:36:43):
and extend plays and still be effective without being in
the pocket. And I think that's something Jared Goff's gonna
have to take the next step of growth, being outside
the pocket, getting flushed still having his eyes down field
and not panicking and still being able to throw the
ball accurately, step into throws and make plays for his
(01:37:04):
offensive unit. Greg I was with the Patriots pretty much
all season, um as far as getting to the super Bowl.
But I gotta be honest now, I kind of feel like, like,
right now, I feel like I'll pick Kansas City in
the AFC next year, and I feel like the Patriots
they might be done as far as winning Super Bowls
or maybe getting there. Is it premature to say, Okay,
(01:37:28):
six championships is awesome, but it's pretty much coming to
an end, you know, I think it is premature because
until someone de thrones them, I don't think it's our
job to be thrown them. They That has to be
something that they do on their on their own, right.
We gotta we got a three hour radio show to kill.
(01:37:48):
We can do that. It's okay, No, you you you know,
don't mind being wrong. I've been doing it all year
until you If you tell me that they're changing in
that AFC East where they're not, They're gonna struggle throughout
the season. They're gonna get They're gonna endorse some wear
(01:38:09):
and tear throughout that division. Um, and then they're gonna
kind of limp into the playoffs and struggle a bit.
Then then my answer could possibly change. But I don't
see that happening. And I again until I think the
Chiefs can get them. Um, they got rid of their
the sup coordinator, they got, but they got rid of
the wrong guy. Andy Weeds still a coach. No, no, right,
(01:38:33):
he can't win any big games. You know, he doesn't
win any big games. Enough with the Andy Weed, I'm
not buying the Chiefs as long as Andy Weeds the
head coach. Well that that's fine. You don't buy the Patriots, right,
he's still don't buy the Patriots. But the difference, there's
a difference between two. One hasn't won a big game.
At least the Patriots have won some big game. Yeah,
(01:38:57):
all right, great, great stuff. I'm sorry, you know I
can't help you. No, it's all good man. When when
you packing up? When you what's up? I'm going to
kN coon for the weekend, So god, thanks brother. All right.
Tom Brady just picked up his six Super Bowl ring
(01:39:20):
and Rob Parker is still calling him the low luckiest
of all time. He'll tell us why next it's The
Eye Couple, Fox Sports Radio. I think I'm moving to Mexico.
It's Chris Bruce are from The Eye Couple. Rob, you
own a couple of businesses back in Detroit, and you
know better than anyone that the right hire can really
(01:39:41):
make an impact on your business, no doubt about it.
And it's not easy getting people to work in your business.
It's a big part of who you are and how
you get things done, and you gotta be able to
find the white people that fit well. Rob, next time
you decide to add an employee to your stable, you
should use LinkedIn. You can post on job boards and
hope you'll find the right person for your job. But
(01:40:02):
think about it, how often do you check job boards?
Why trust the chance when you can post your job
to a place where people go every day to grow
professionally and explore job opportunities. At seventy percent of the
US workforce is there. It's linked in. LinkedIn jobs intelligently
targets potential candidates. Be sure to catch live editions of
(01:40:22):
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and The iHeartRadio app from a car landing on
a roof to a car landing in the pool, we've
covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing or
two because we've seen a thing or two. We are
farmers underwritten my Farmers truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates
(01:40:45):
products unavailable in every state. You're back with the eye
couple of Chris brus Sard and Rob Parker. And we've
told you about Julian Edelman. We already played the Rams
blame game. Now I want to get back to the
man of the hour. That's right, the man of the hour,
Tom Brady. Tell me about Brady. Did Brady look forty
(01:41:05):
one or thirty one to you last night? I mean,
he obviously wasn't spectacular, But the notion that he wasn't
very good, that he wasn't good, that he just got
carried to the championship, No, that's just not accurate. And
here's why. Because when push came to shove and it
(01:41:26):
was the fourth quarter, it was clutch time. What did
he do? Nine minutes left? Game is tied three to three,
as he always does, as he always has done, better
than any other quarterback in the history of the game,
he led a game winning drive. It was his sixth
game winning drive in the six Super Bowls he's been in.
(01:41:49):
No other quarterback has more than two. It was his
thirteenth game winning drive in the playoffs. No other quarterback
has more than six. So what is he do? Yeah,
he struggled all night, but again when it was nut
crunching time, he goes and hits four for four all right,
eighteen yards to Gronk, thirteen yards to Edelman, seven yards
(01:42:13):
to Rex birkehead twenty nine yards to Gronk, which could
have easily been a touchdown. It was right there at
the goal line. Four for four, sixty seven yards. That's
all he had to do, all right, he delivered. Let
me stop it, let me stop you. That's not what
he threw for five Hold on when he threw for
five hundred and five? What to last year? You don't
(01:42:35):
give him any credit for that, even though he was
spectacular individually, and now that he had a good game
but not a terrific game, we don't want to give
him credit in the win come out, But then why
didn't he win the MVP? Crush? You just make the
care who won because I'm asking you Why didn't he
win the MVP if he was clutching the fourth quarter?
(01:42:55):
Why did he win? Because he had a bad game,
just really a bad game. He had a reception and
he didn't do that. You didn't, I know, you don't
know what you're watching. So you're telling d why didn't
Who cares? Isn't a team game or not? No, but
(01:43:15):
they had to give it to somebody. They gave it
to a receiver didn't even have a touchdown. If Tom
Brady was all last, why didn't they give it to
a Chris's Trophy? Nobody cares? And answer me the question,
Thembardi Trophy. Answer me the question. Just answer me that question.
They were looking for an MVP. You just broke down
(01:43:36):
how spectacular he was and he led to the game
winning drive. But all the football writers in Atlanta looked
and said, let's see, let's give it to a receiver
who didn't even You just said groc made the two
biggest catches and he didn't even have a touchdown. Let's
give it to you. Point it wasn't sul I've let
(01:43:58):
you continue with this nonsense? Is long enough? It ain't. No.
I guess everybody who didn't get the MVP. Had a
bad game. Nony Michelle had a bad game. Er Growski
had a bad game. Anybody on the defense had a
bad game. Come on, man, bring me some real logic.
That is logic. This is bogus, This is j Brady. No,
(01:44:20):
inve my face, bogus garbage. No, I don't. I'm asking
you who was the MVP. I'm asking you. You just
made the Kai said it. Everybody who want you maybe
had a bad game. You maybe the k Brady was
baby key, you said, look at the driving head. He
went four for four and he threw it to the
(01:44:41):
air and threw it to the air, and he had
the game when he drives, and that's number six and
that's number six off. If that was the game when
he drive and Tom Brady was so clutch, he would
brother give me MVP. He w wasn't even he wasn't
even consented for the MVP. He he had a bad game,
admitted he looked like a forty one year old. He
(01:45:05):
knowed the forty one year old quarterback who was carried
along by his defense the same way Peyton Manning won
his second Super Bowl. But he wasn't Peyton that it
was Manny had no touchdowns in one yards. Let me
hear you with some facts now garbage, all right? Tom
Brady through for two hundred and sixty two yards. Tom
(01:45:27):
Brady led the game winning drive. Tom Brady had a
passer rating of seventy one. You want to keep bringing
up one, Yeah, you want to keep bringing up Peyton
Peyton man I ain't say it was MVP. Peyton Manning
had one hundred forty one yards and a passer rating
of fifty six and two fumbles and an interception in
(01:45:50):
twenty fifteen. So just wond was Joe Namath bad in
nineteen sixty nine when he won the Super Bowl? But
through old touchdown Joe in six yards? John name was?
What was? Was John Airway bad? You didn't won the
Super Bowl and went twelve for twenty two with one
hundred and twenty three yards, no one interception in a
(01:46:13):
fifty two passer rating. But was Terry Bradshaw the difference
seventy five when he threw for ninety six yards or
in seventy six when he threw for two hundred and
nine but was nine for nineteen. Stop it. It's a
team sport. If you lead your team to the title. No,
not what he's taking credit away from the win. There
(01:46:35):
you are, I'm just telling you credit away from time
care who was in Keep telling you that you made
the case that he was so great in the fourth
quarter in clutch, But but they didn't give him the MVP.
How could he be clutched? How could he be clutching?
They didn't even they looked at his numbers. Don't for
yourself and stop letting the other writers think for you.
(01:46:55):
They don't think for me. I agree on Apparently they thought,
that's your argument if the other writers for yourself weak
for yourself, don't give me what the other writers did.
They did, he saw they did the right thing, because okay,
tell me about the drive. Then drive. It was fine,
(01:47:17):
but I mean he wasn't good in that drive. No,
but he wasn't like what you made it out to be.
Like there was some clutch of four score sixty seven
yards a perfectly score was three for three to three.
It wasn't like bright like they came back when he
came back three quarters. I said, when push came to shove,
he delivered. That's all I'm saying. You didn't give him
(01:47:38):
credit for that. I'm asking I never said once he
should have been MVP. I said the defense, all right?
But why did they give it to Element? Just just answering,
no idea, just like they shouldn't have given it to
Andre Goodala with the Warriors in twenty fifteen. Writer, he
deserved that. I'm not gonna let them determine what I saw.
And I believe as an expert myself. You an expert?
(01:48:01):
You letting not know what? What's what you think? Oh?
They were right on the money there, so it should
have been it should have been Able. No, it shouldn't
have been Brady. It's what I'm saying. What should it
have been? Element? That's all I'm just saying. They looked
at that drive and they're all like they were wrong.
They were wrong, period, But they weren't wrong about giving
(01:48:22):
it to By. They were wrong. That should argument they
were right about it. Fans, Let's see what the listeners thing. Man,
if I didn't bury you, I'm sure the listeners will.
You didn't bury me on your kidding, I'm still breathing.
You would rob or you with me? Did last night's
(01:48:43):
performance change the way you feel about Tom Brady eight
seven seven ninety nine on five seven seven, nine, nine, six,
sixty three sixty nine. Hit us up and we will
continue the conversation with you next and bring better logic
than my man Rob Parker. But first, let's get the
(01:49:04):
damn Carson for the latest in sports. Damn yes, who
you wins? That go to? Okay, it wasn't the most
brilliant performance. It wasn't his worst either, though he's still
the greatest of all time. Even the greats have bad games,
and he had a great final drive. It's basically who
(01:49:26):
gritted it out and who won the game? Yes, so hey,
And by the way, the Super Bowl, of course, now
is over. It's officially the off season season. There is
one NFL team that still has no home for next season,
and that would be the Raiders and NBC Bay Areas says.
The Raiders want to play at Oracle Park formerly at
and T Park in San Francisco. The decision still requires
(01:49:50):
the approval for both the NFL and the forty nine Ers,
since the Niners technically have territorial rights in San Francisco,
but the Giants are on board, so we shall see
what happens with that. We have a couple of NBA
games already in the books. The Nuggets six game win
streak is over. Pistons beat Denver one twenty nine, one
h three, Andre Drummond twenty seven points twelve rebounds, Hawks
(01:50:12):
one at Washington one thirty seven, one twenty nine, And
during the Mavericks press conference introducing Chris Stops Porzingis, team
owner Mark Cuban and Porzingis confirmed they're working on a
long term contract to keep him in Dallas, and Porzingis
says not only is he excited to be playing with
Hall of Famer future Hall of Famer Durk Navitsky, he
(01:50:32):
is excited to be playing with Luca don Chicks next season.
You know, we clicked from their guinning. You know, we're
both European players, we both went through the same similar route,
you know, and just you know, it's we both speak Spanish,
there's you know, there's so many things that it's just
like we clicked right away, and uh and I think
that's going to translate on the court also. So I'm
(01:50:53):
excited about the opportunity to blue with him. And of
course Porzingis won't be playing till next season because he's
still recovering from his ACL entry. The other players, though
received in the trade from the nixt Tim Hardaway, Junior,
Trey Burke, and Courtney Lee will all make their Mavericks
debut Wednesday night against the Hornets. At the Hornets, I
should say at American Airlines Center, your check engine life
can signify a variety of different issues with your car.
(01:51:15):
The AutoZone Fixed Finders service will help you have troubleshoot
the issue for free and save you time and money.
And of course, all eyes on New Orleans to find
out where Anthony Davis will be landing. Adrian Warzanowski says
Davis has given the Pelicans a list of teams with
which he'd be willing to sign a long term deal.
Among those teams the Clippers and the Bucks. Not on
that list the Boston Celtics. We'll be back with the
(01:51:38):
odd couple in ten seconds. But first, a word from farmers.

you really are? But man, Tom Brady is the greatest.
As far as the MVP goals, I think it's legitimate
to give it to Julian Edelman. But what I think
(01:53:38):
is really earth shattering about this Super Bowl and the MVP.
It shows you that you need guys with good attitudes.
They don't have to be prima donnas. You look at
the situation going on in Pittsburgh and it makes you
think twice, do I want a scrawny little kid with
an outstanding attitude? Or do I want a diva or
(01:53:59):
a Prema? Donna dropped the mic Case's clothes. Everybody knows
Tom Brady's the ghost. Now no, he's Doc Man. That's
your buddy doing that, Tom Brady. Tom Brady can't do
it because he couldn't throw a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
Oh I'm sorry, Hey, Martin and Maine, you're in the
(01:54:20):
odd couple of Fox Sports radier. Now he's in New England,
so we already know where he's going with his comments.
All right, Martin, what you got? Oh? Assumptions will lead
you terrible. I am not a Pate Rich fan. Okay,
I work I work with a lot of them. Tom Brady, statistically,
I think is probably the best quarterback of all time.
What I have to say after last night, I think
(01:54:43):
he's almost done. Now that brings up another argument. That's
what I've been saying. No, you've been saying it for
seven years. I'm right this time, right right, So Tom
Brady might have, for the seek of the argument, another
two years lest once he retires, if Bill Belichick gets
(01:55:05):
his hands on another great quarterback and he takes him
to another two to three Super Bowls after that, really,
who's who's that master buying behind the team. Is that
Tom Brady pulling, pulling the startom out of these random
rookie players that are subpar, or is it Bill Belichick
that's coaching? You know? And we saw what Bilichick does
with the defense. Then they won a super Bowl without
(01:55:25):
Brady last night. I agree. Belichick is fantastic. You know,
I think he's the greatest coach of all time. But
remember this, He's coached seven years without Tom Brady and
only twice in those seven years did they even make
the playoffs. Keep that in mind, so we have to
see Belichick prove it without Brady, He's won two Super
(01:55:46):
Bowls against he won two Super Bowls against the Rams
where Brady threw one touchdown. So I'm just saying. I'm
just saying. And he stopped the greatest show on stopped
the greatest show on turf, and he stopped the top
ten offense of all time. To squeeze one more in,
how about Mark in Texas? You're on the odd couple
(01:56:08):
of Fox Sports Radio. Hey, guys, Chris, you keep giving
Rob hell. Okay, but I got a question for you, Rob.
How does any wide receiver when an MVP in a
Super Bowl with a bad quarterback? I don't know, because
you know what if if a quarterback was throwing Wait
a minute, wait, I'm asking you if he's throwing so well,
why didn't Brady win it? If Brady was throwing so well?
(01:56:32):
You answered me that, well, the well he didn't play well,
he had a turnover. Had wide receiver win an MVP
if his quarterback didn't play because they didn't because Brady
didn't play, Well, that's a good question. Circus catch like
Lin Swanna's Super Bowl Right, No, No, they were all
on the money, they were clutch, they were and Rob
(01:56:56):
we talked early. Rob you even admit it, not that
you thought there should have been MVP, but you did
admit Brady threw all those passes to Edelman. You know
what I'm saying. No, I understand that. I asked you
if Edelman is the because Brady threw him all those
balls and Brady had the great drive in the fourth
(01:57:16):
quarter to win the game. How didn't Brady win the MVP.
That's what That's what I'm trying to figure out. Nobody's saying.
I'm just Trady was spectacular, but you're saying he was bad.
He wasn't bad great, but he was quarterback rading seventy
something two hundred and sixty two yards the game winning
drive where he completes every single pass. I'm just saying
(01:57:37):
that he should have been he should have been the MVP.
That's a subjective thing. I don't get its even vote.
I mean, I know for sometimes the NBA Finals, it's
very few. It's a handful of writers. All right, it's
the hottest radio game show in the country. The Super
Bowl edition of sources say it's next, it's the Eye Couple.
(01:57:58):
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch lie editions of
the Odd Couple with Chris Brussar and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific. From a hot
ball landing on a car to a load of concrete
falling on one, we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We
know a thing or two. Because we've seen a thing
or two. We are farmers underwritten. My farmers took fire,
(01:58:19):
intrance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state. It's
the Eye Couple of Chris Brusar Rob Parker's the last
segment of the show. But before we get into it,
we got to let you know that car shopping can
be very confusing. They will hit you with terms like dealer,
price list, price invoice. Make sure you have Truecar because
true car shows you what other people pay for the
(01:58:40):
car you want. That makes it easy to recognize a
good price from a bad price. When you're ready to
buy a new or even a use car, make sure
you visit Truecar to get your confidence up. All right, Now,
it's time for the best radio game show in the country.
Sources say, check check, check everybody. Sources say these two
(01:59:04):
have been covering sports for nearly three decades. Apiece, I
will say this, let's put the Big Jay journalists to
the test. Its sources say, yes, sir. To sources say,
we do this every single Monday on the Odd Couple
right here on Fox Sports Radio, where we put Chris
and Rob and they're one hundred and eighteen combined years
of journalism experience to the test, one hundred and eighteen.
(01:59:28):
But my fifty eight of that are good years as
a journalist. I'm sorry, that's the shot right there, Chris Brussarry. Now, anyways,
we're on the heels of one day you'll get to
work for the New York Times, you know, on the
heels of the Super Bowl. So every single story in
this edition is Super Bowl related. And again, if you
(01:59:51):
haven't heard this segment before, they all sound a little
bit real, they all sound a little bit faking. Is
up to Chris and Rob to judge which sources are
good and which sources are bad. So let's get started
with story number one, gentlemen, My sources say that bet
Online had to pay out both the over and the
under on the national anthem prop bets after Gladys Knight
accidentally sang the word brave twice to close out the song. Robert,
(02:00:14):
my sources is good. She sang the word brave twice. See,
that's what happens when you lose the pips. You can't
count how many times brave, Thank you, thank you. I'll say,
I'll say it's true. I am going to say false
(02:00:38):
because I think I remember I didn't hear the whole
song when she was singing it. But I'm gonna say
rob g is playing with us, and that she didn't
sing the song were brave twice? Oh oh wow, that
is absolutely true. One to nothing, Parker. Stop see how
it's been such a rough years. No one hasn't been.
(02:01:01):
It's been a great year, Parker. You say it after
three weeks that the Patriots had no chance of getting
to the super Bowl. You're still living on that. That's yeah,
I am until you go to Mexico that the football
season is over right for years, But finally this is
a year where I'm gonna be right. Story number two.
(02:01:25):
The guys over at porn Hub, they're friends at the show.
They listen all the time. Yes, they are reported on
Twitter after the game that online traffic went up by
twenty one percent during halftime. Chris, and my source is good.
Online traffic at porn Hub that is correct, Chris. You know, Chris,
(02:01:46):
you know you have that book mark. I bet that's true.
I know it's true. You sit on a throne of
that is not true at all. It might be, but
they didn't report anything. It might be more than Yeah,
it's probably fifty. Remember when it went up during the
government shut down. That was incredible. Need something to do,
(02:02:08):
sources say the Akaba Fox Sports Radio story number three.
My sources say that American marathon or James Willis ran
thirty three laps around the stadium during the game, the
equivalent about twenty six and a half miles to complete
what he calls the first ever Super Bowl marathon. Robin,
the source is good. What you're talking about Willis the
falls that's false. Um, I do think that's false. You
(02:02:34):
sit on a throne of lies, all right, to remotely true?
Nothing about that? You know you were so certain? No,
because it just I just didn't believe he ran around
a stadium. I don't know. That's a tough stadium to
run around, you know, with the way it's it's not
an easy run around here. All right, it looks like
we got time for one more. Best Chris can do
(02:02:55):
is tie here my sources say that Barstool Sports president
Dave Portnuey snuck into the game after he was banned
by the NFL and was dragged out of his seat
by security and placed in a holding cell beneath the
stadium until late in the fourth quarter. Chris, my source
is good. I holding cell beneath the stadium like they
banned him into the abyss. Yes, I do know he
(02:03:19):
got escorted. I'm gonna say true. I'll just follow, Chris.
What'd you say false? That's go ahead, man, you gotta
win something this season. Go ahead, no picket? What do
you gotta say? True? All right? I said true too. Yeah,
