(01:06):
XM Channel eighty three. We don't think you'll be sorry.
In fact, we believe you'll be enlightened, entertained and informed.
At the bottom of the hour, we have our celebrity
corner for this week, and that'll be a special guest
from the music industry, also a reality TV star, so
that's gonna be exciting for you all. But we got
(01:27):
NFL and NBA stuff to get to so a great
show headed your way. Let me welcome in my partner,
mister Rod Parker. What's up man? What's happening to mister
Chris Bussard? I am great, I am great doing well.
I am too, man. I'm so excited. You know me, Chris,
I'm always working on projects, always trying to make something
(01:50):
happen in this world. Right I've always said, you don't
want to sit around eat and potato chips and watching TV.
This stuff to get done, even though we can't anywhere. Right, Well,
there's a little time when you want to sit around
and eat potato chips or chips. Yeah, I hear you
all the time. Right now, I got it. Chris loves
(02:11):
his sweets. It's more like cookies and cakes. But anyway,
I want to announce my release of my new book.
It's called Tales of Rob Parker's Urinating Mouse, a collection
of tweets. It's available on Amazon and for people follow
(02:34):
me on social media, especially Twitter. They know after certain
Chris big games or whatever, you know, somebody loses or whatever,
it's always like it's so quiet in Dallas you can
hear a mouse urinate on uh you know, um dak
Prescott's MVP trophy will never get or whatever the line is.
(02:58):
So do you give us insight into each urinating mouse tweet? No,
it's just like the tweets as a collection. And then
there's some illustrations. That's what's new. Some illustrations that are
uh no, from Ray Templing, my buddy in Detroit, Ray Templin,
who's a great artist. He got it done. But it's
(03:21):
not that much money. It's a nice little book. It's
a fun read, and I think they have some good
stuff in it. So there it is. It's available on
Amazon dot com. You know, also on Amazon. My other
book if I'm writing I'm ripping, is there. So there's
a chance if you'd like to pick it up and
just have a fun little read. It's it's not that
(03:41):
I'm excited, as Christy Teagan would say, I'm excited to
get my free copy in the mail. Hello, Hello, this
on nic We're not even five minutes in robbing. I've
gotten Craig Melvin to die laughing twice twice. I'm I'm
up to a good start today. That that's unbelievable. But yep,
(04:03):
so there we go, and you know what, you know,
the urinated mouse. I do want to say this, Chris,
which is tell me if you think I'm um, um,
this is cool or not. But I dedicated the book
to my ex wife's grandmother. I didn't name her in
the book, but I but I I dedicated the book
(04:23):
to her because I got the idea of the mouse
from her, okay, And we were at thanks or the mouse.
What she said was, we were at Thankgiving dinner and
my wife then said, um, something like, you know, you
talk loud like you like your grandmother can't hear you.
(04:45):
You're like, well, grandma can't hear, so I don't even
know why you're even trying to say something to her.
And and a grandmother perked up and said, what do
you mean. There's nothing wrong with my hearing. My hearing
is so good. I can hear a rat piss on cotton.
And I just I thought that was so fun. Where
you got it from, well, that's why I got it
from that very a proposed then. Yes, first, when you
(05:08):
said you dedicated to I was like a book about
a urinating man. No, no, no, not that, okay, But
what I'm saying context, I think it makes sense. I
think that's good. Yes, yes, and she is passed, but
it was a nice person. All right, Well, let's welcome
in the our couple crew. We got DJ Alex tischert
(05:29):
aka Alex the Vegan on the Ones and the Twos
on this TV theme show Thursday, so this should be
fun or your requests will be played in the breaks.
We got the super producer Rob g running Things and
David Gascon on the Updates. It's always a great show
when Gascon is available. Okay, so let's get into it. Rob,
(05:52):
let's start in the NFL and look, everybody's caught up
in the last Damn. It's hype, and I get it.
It was fantastic the fact that we were also in
a pandemic that comes along once every century. Now I
would have watched it. I'm sure you would have watched it.
(06:12):
But you know there are a lot of casual fac Ever,
the numbers that he got it never it never would
have done that. And I think everyone, including Michael Jordan,
understands that. But now I guess the ball is rolling.
So everybody, it seems, wants to come out of the
woodwork with a super doc. I think that's what we
(06:33):
should call him, super Docks. You know, it's not a
thirty for thirty. You know, it's not a Sports Century,
which was an hour. It's like nine ten hours like
Jordan's was. We got Magic Johnson doing one. I don't
you know know how long that's gonna be. But he
announced to Craig Melvin he's going to do one. And
(06:54):
that Melvin said, when Magic said he was doing one,
what that was the time for the Yeah, we're supposed
to laugh. I can't believe Alex missed that. You saw
it coming, Yes, I saw it. I would have caught
that one, my goodness. But anyway, Tom Brady, now Rob
is it's been announced that he is going to start
(07:18):
in a nine part documentary that drops in twenty twenty one.
It's called Man in the Arena, and Brady's expected to
give firsthand accounts of the most iconic moments of his
NFL career, including each of his nine Super Bowl appearances
with the Patriots and possibly his last days as a Patriot.
(07:41):
Now Here, here's my thing, Rob, And you know everybody
knows that listens to the show that I like Tom Brady.
I'm not like a super fan. Don't like him as
much as I like Michael Jordan or somebody like that
Lebron James, but I like him. I think he's the
goat quarterback. But I gotta be honest. If I want
a nine hour documentary on Tom Brady, it's gonna be
(08:04):
because it's my job. I just don't think he's as
compelling a character as Michael Jordan's. It's not just about
the winning. With Michael Jordan, it's the fact that he
had the most beautiful game we've seen, right, it was
the most graceful player we've ever seen on the basketball court.
(08:27):
That I don't know that that can be argued. You
argue if you think Lebron's better, if you think Kareem's better,
maybe you think Kobe's better. The most graceful, beautiful game
on the that I've seen, I think it'd be very
difficult to argue. Doctor Jay's obviously was great as well.
But Jordan, that was part of the attraction, how good
(08:49):
his moves looked and his movement on the court looked.
He also, you know, with dunked, we had a flashy game,
a flashy game Tom Brady. It's not we're not being
dazzled by his arm, We're not dazzled by his charisma.
You know, we're not dazzled by his personality. He doesn't
(09:10):
have an Air Jordan or Air Brady sneaker brand that
kids that weren't even born when Michael Jordan stopped playing are,
you know, just pushing and fighting at them all to
get these sneakers, you know, standing in line for hours
to get his sneakers when the new ones come out.
And so as much as I liked Tom Brady, Rob
(09:32):
I'll watch it probably again, it's my job, but I
just don't think he's compelling enough. Yeah, a thirty for thirty,
I'm with it. A three hour documentary, maybe a two
week type thing one Sunday, the next Sunday, I'm with it.
But I don't think he can carry the imagination of
(09:54):
the nation like Michael Jordan did for five weeks. I
could not agree with you more from the gee wiz
ah shucks Tom Brady who acts as if he doesn't
know what's going on and is totally in the dark
to what's happening around him. Chris, I'm with you. The
stuff that I would love to know about Tom Brady
(10:15):
we won't see in that because they just talked about
it that it's only gonna be about the Super Bowls,
But what about the scandals and all the other stuff
that's going on about the Patriots. If you got me
some inside information and some bit some footage that we've
never seen, I'm all in, Chris, I'm all in the
spy gate. Let's see. I want to see that. I
(10:39):
want to see the deflate gate. I want to see
thee hundred and fifty calls between Top Texas, between Tom
Brady and the ball boy. You got that. I want
to see that. You want to see Tom Brady saying,
oh man, you know when bas Mood was at the
one yard line ready to go in and uh, you know,
and there's a reaction or he thinks that they lost
(11:00):
and it's something different. I don't know, but I just
I'm with you. This is again, I think given the
situation that we're in with Michael Jordan, that's what made
it even bigger and better and he's more compelling. But Chris,
I think this could be especially nine Hours, could be
a flop. I really do. I think when you go
(11:23):
back and you look at even the early Super Bowls
and you know this, not the later ones, Chris, but
the early ones, it's not a lot of Tom Brady
action in those Super Bowls. Nah, yeah, I mean, look,
could they I think I don't think it could ever
be as good as Jordan's. But you bring up a
good point. If they would address the issues you mentioned
(11:46):
spot God deflate gay and look, we don't. You don't
expect him to indict himself. No, no, just so it
didn't do that. But Jordan addressed it. Even though some
people don't agree with what he said. Some people think
he may have been line. He addressed them in a
decent detail. Right. It wasn't like he just breathe, you know,
(12:07):
breathed through him real quick. He addressed them. And I
think if Brady did that, that would be compelling. I
would like to see like that first season when Drew
Bledsoe gets hurt, you know, like if they had flashbacks
to what Brady looked like his rookie year when they
(12:28):
drafted him, what they really think of Tom brand I mean,
six round pig. He's not athletic. You know, what's this
kid here? Before he was drafted? He had a dad, Bob,
before he had kids. No, he definitely did, you know,
And I'd like to see that if we got Belichick
saying Look, he doesn't look like much. He wasn't didn't
like the world on fire at Michigan. But you know what,
(12:50):
this kid is smart. There's something about him I like.
I mean stuff like that, the scouting room, that type
of behind the scene stuff and then Brady taking over.
What were the Patriots coaches, what was their reaction when
they'd won you know, ten of eleven games or whatever
type of streak they it was that they went on
like the debate do we go back to bled? So
(13:11):
when he's helping, there are things that if they get
into them, would be exciting. Again, I don't think he'd
ever captivate us like Jordan, but it's some stuff there.
But as much as I like him, as much as
I know about the game winning drives, I'm not because
what's he gonna say, you know when he's having a
(13:32):
game winning drive? You know? Yeah, I never gave up here.
Here's what I knew. Gronk was gonna be. Whatever it is.
But the other stuff behind the scenes, that's what we
want to see. And I don't know if they're going there. Yeah,
I guarantee you they're not going there. So I'm with you.
I just I think, you know, we were always in sports,
(13:53):
Chris television, everything everything is copycat, right, somebody does something
to have some success, they do it. Television we sold
all the time. Hey, CBS did the Monsters, and then
ABC did the Adam Family. Right this this network did,
did a black family, amusing family. Then they came up
(14:14):
with their own. I'm just saying show family ties or
it's called you know what I mean, right, that that's
what they do and they just try to figure out,
well they liked it doing this way. So let's while
the Jordan thing. But but I'm with you, there's a
lot of elements that go with Jordan that made it possible,
(14:34):
including the pandemic. What other athletes, I think there's only
a handful that could captivate even in the same situation,
say it was a pandemic as a lockdown. I think
when I think of what athletes could captivate even close
to what Jordan did, I would go obviously Muhammad Ali,
(14:54):
even though you know so much has been We've seen
so much on him, But Ali, probably Mike Tyson and
probably Tiger Woods. He would be third behind those two.
I think here's my guy. I'm gonna I'm gonna go
off the beaten path for one second. I think there's
a story there, if you could get the guy to
(15:16):
really talk about it. I think Barry Bonds is fascinating
and not just we noticed steroid stuff. Chris and the
home to be a huge part of it. Oh no, no,
no doubt about it. I mean that has to be
addressed in what went on, so many people to talk about,
so many other things going on during that time. But
the other part two is his upbringing. His dad was
(15:37):
a star, Bobby Bonds. His godfather is Willie Mays. Do
you know what I mean? Like like there's a whole
like he would he grew up like this. He went
through all this coming up as a kid, sheltered whatever spoiled,
turned into this in Pittsburgh, moved to San Francisco. I
think there's a story there. If he was interested in
(16:00):
doing it and open it up, That's that's what I
would say. I think they'd because I don't think it'd
be like Jordan, but I think it could be good. Um.
When I think of baseball players, he's certainly right there
at the top as far as this type of dock.
I got another baseball player. I'm gonna throw at you quickly,
who's up? How about Pete Rose? Another one that'd be
interesting if you know, you gotta address everything, but part
(16:23):
he would get radies with pitt rolls because again, millennials
who don't know Pete Rose Chris and watched him when
he was on the FS one Baseball Show. Remember he
was good on that show. But they looked at him
as like a poor man's Barkley exactly. But they look
at him as this old short roll guy, you know,
had no idea, They had no idea. Great he was
(16:46):
Charlie Hustle. And I think Lebron, you know, if I
had to pick a basketball player right now, obviously Lebron
would be the guy, you know, told in a certain way.
I think that could be compelling too. Of course, all right,
let's see what you guys think of a seven ninety
nine on Fox. Is Tom Brady compelling enough for a
nine part documentary? And if not, which athlete is? Which
(17:09):
athlete besides Michael Jordan? Of course we'll continue the conversation
with you. Next is the Eye Couple Grison Rob Fox

All right, let's quickly get to these calls. Robbed eight
(18:15):
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Who would you like
to see a nine part dock on? All right? How
about Mike and Brooklyn. You're on the Odd Couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Mike? Hey? What's up? Man?
A Christians took me man um? Hello, Yeah, we're here.
What's up bro Yo? Yeah? Yeah, what's up. I don't
(18:36):
think Tom Brady. Hell no, I don't want to see No.
Ten ten episode thing Brady. It's not gonna be entertaining,
Like I don't. He don't really have no personality like
that to me, like Joe and to really like he
didn't really hold the era and all, like like y'all said,
he didn't have to. He didn't have the sneakers, none
of that. Like come on, man, and I don't think
(18:57):
it's a superstar now, that got it. No, it's real hard.
That's hard, Like I said, Ali Tyson Tiger. You know
it's tough, no doubt about it. H Let's go to
um Harry and Columbus, Ohio. You're on the couple of
(19:18):
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Harry? Hey, how we're going guys?
I would say I would like to see Tom Brady. Um.
The only reason is because like truth gonna come out,
like Rob you said all the time, like the truth
of him. You know what he did rather say it
was h G. I personally believe that he would using
h there's no quarterback. Yeah, he don't look like it,
(19:46):
but you can't always tell though, just bas I know
that because I mean, because you gotta think about what
Payton man unless I let you get to it. But
you know, think about pay Many remember when his wife
that came name package. Yeah, and you know what, you
can say whatever you want. I don't remember Payton manning
Suey al Jazero who had that that thing went away?
(20:10):
That went away? But there was no lawsuit. Do you
remember that, Chris or settlement? Yeah? No, you're right, you're right,
I don't remember one. Uh, Marty and Kentucky, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Marty?
What's up? Tellas? What's up? Are you? I'm doing great,
Harry Ella, We're good. Um. I do think Tom Brady
(20:30):
would be interesting if the right questions rest, and not
just not just the you know, the flake gate and Skygate,
but also questions like how do you feel when you
went out behind in the NFC Championship and Drew Bledsoe
came in and brought the patients back in one game?
But things like how important is the system? How important
(20:51):
is Belichick? How do you feel about the team going
winning eleven games? Statue? And I know what, Marty, let
me ask you this, Marty, Your questions are all good
and you could graduate from journalism school. But Marty, do
you believe Tom Brady given his history and what he said?
Tom Brady doesn't say anything. Do you think he'll answer
(21:12):
any questions? Honestly, I'm asking you. I think we'll get
his perspective. But I would hope that they would ask
components and other teammates. But I've always wanted to hear
him remark on the winning leave games at that even
I know Chris says they didn't win a championship, but
the thing is his first and sixth championship. They only
want eleven games. Well, it does mean something, right, they
didn't make it the playoffs that year, That's what I
(21:33):
but eleven games. No, it's just it's how how you feel,
how you feel on look, you know. But I would Yeah,
I don't think Marty, a doc could be good. I
don't know the I don't think you could carry nine
or ten hours. But unless the wife was in that,
maybe we can get nine hours of getting in trouble.
Don't Tom catch you out in the streets. No, I'm
(21:55):
just saying you shoot Nick, Nick in South Carolina, you're
on the Box sports radio. What's up? Nick? Hey? Doing good?
I'll be the first man. I'm a Rob Parker hater,
but I'm gonna be on Amazon ordering that book. So
come on, man, Rob Parker's ur a Nating Mouse. The
Tales of Rob Parker's You're a Nating Mouse? My man,
(22:16):
Thank you, Nick, No problem. Hey, I actually I agree. Man.
Tom Brady is the goat, but his story is just
not as interesting. He didn't transpend sports. He was a
great thrower who won Super Bowls. But what made Michael
Jordan's story so interesting was the fact that we had
just never seen a guy like him before, and the
guys probably would like to see. Yeah, and you know what,
(22:39):
any any change, And you know what, Nick, he did
change a generation to kids. When kids were like, I
want to be like Mike. You can't tell me he did.
Very few people come along. You might even say, even
in the Tiger Woods thing, Chris, think about this, no
bother and I say no. A small number of black
kids developed in the b the golf or came on
(23:01):
the scene from Tiger Woods, and a lot of people
wanted to be Michael Jordan. And even though basketball had
been around forever and they've been all these great players,
people connected with Michael Jordan on a different level. No,
that's good question exactly, and the one guy would want
to see a nine hour documentary on I don't know
if everybody shares the same sentiment, but Lawrence Taylor, man,
(23:22):
I mean, he just changed the game and I love
You're right, did it while being surrounded with a drug
you know, drug lifestyle and then to take him on
the track houses to play in style? Right? A girl,
really good one, really in depth. It wouldn't captivate the
casual fan like Jordan's did, but yeah for feet, for
football and about a real story, right, it'd be really good.
(23:45):
It'd be really good. All Right. We got Celebrity Corner

to the A couple of brothers happening. What's up? What's up? Fellers?
How are you all? We're good, man. It's an honor
(24:28):
to have you on for those that don't know. Man,
you help break so many great artists. You were a
bad boy records, you know, Diddy, Cassie, Ryan Leslie, Dannity Caine, Young, Jock,
Corey Guns. We could go on and on, man, So
it is great to have you on. But you're a
big time sports fan. I see you got your opinions
(24:48):
out there. Yeah, ah's out there front seat. Oh yes,
I'm very very opinionated fellers. So what what's your sports background?
Were you an athlete? You're just a fan or what? Um?
I played basketball at the University of Buffalo. Oh wow, okay,
so you got game. So that's d D one. We
was We was D one, correct, but at that time
(25:08):
we were independent, So yeah we were D one. Um.
And obviously you know, I just you know, I'm an
old man now, so it's it's been a while for me,
but I try to live vicariously through young folks and
do my thing like that. And I'm you know, interested
in in the music thing, and obviously you know the
reality TV world. All right, that's cool. And And did
(25:29):
you did you guys when when you were playing? Did
y'all play any games? I don't know how old you are,
to be honest, I'm taking again how old? Yeah you're
you're a young man. Yeah, ye did you play at all?
Did you play at the all them? Buffalo to jab
but have any big games there? Um? Well, as you know,
(25:49):
when you're independent, you kind of do the travel thing.
So we played Colorado in Colorado, play games, Iowa State
in Iowa. Um, we played University of Miami Donal Corals Gables. Um. Wow?
Who else did we play that? Yeah? Yeah, we were
on the road. We played Notre Dame out in South Bend,
So yeah, we were, we were moving around. You were more, Yeah,
you were. You were more doing the independent travel thing.
(26:13):
When you look at what you know, we've been talking
a lot about obviously the Last Dance and Michael Jordan
and how a lot of people got a chance to
you know, maybe see a different side or maybe see
it in context. What was the thing that stood out
to you of of of those ten hours, was there
one thing that maybe you didn't know that you found
(26:33):
out or maybe something that made you feel a good
way or a bad way about MJ. What what did
you get from this? Well, I'm gonna say this, I
watched it. There were a few things. Obviously, I know
everybody's talking about I'm a big zec thing, right, so
that hurt in. I think I might have even chimed
it on your Twitter. Somebody said that Stockton could hold
Zeke's jack like rank Fellers. Let's not do that. Let's
(26:54):
not do that, like the artest will tell you differently
and than the seven years that Stockton had in the
league as he didn't have, well also tell you differently. Right,
we agree with you, but you're right most I don't
know about most, but a lot of these media people
are putting Stockton. They put stocked in the head of Isaiah,
which I think is ridiculous. But I feel like they
(27:17):
feel like he was a better person, maybe right, And
I think that. I mean, look, there's an art Stockton
stats are like ridiculous, you know, I mean, so there
there's an argument there. But I just like you said,
the eye test, Isaiah was just much better any one,
and he beat Jordan one like any one, absolutely, so
that that was one thing. And then obviously I feel
(27:38):
bad for Pipping, and people are saying that obviously the
greatest Robin ever, and I hear I hear that argument.
But at the same time, Pip sat on that show
and said he'd do it again, like it's hard. It's
hard for me to feel sorry for you. I mean,
knowing how good you are and everything that you did.
Probably as a three man, he was probably the six
(27:58):
seventh point three whatever however you want to call it.
But some of the stuff he didn't didn't the cool
coaching and the one point eight second, all of that
stuff like that existed. So as much as people are
angry with Jordans for doing what he did and not
showing Tipping in the most positive light, I think that
that those were big things and you have to look
(28:20):
at that right, like you can't gloss over that they
have one. They happened like that, he there was nothing
ordinary that they fabricated. Every single story, the Migraine, the
one point eight seconds, we all know surgery. They happened
and they were big stories. You know, It's not like
they jumped up something. Oh yeah, you know what, I
(28:41):
ain't forgotten about that. No, everybody remembered all those things.
So I'm with you on that. You what about the
goat debate? I understand you got a strong opinion on
the goat debate. Who's your goat and why? Mike number one? Okay,
I'm gonna Ron fan. I can appreciate Lebron, I can.
(29:02):
I can appreciate somebody six eight, two hundred and sixty
five pounds, or the co ordination, the boar handling, the
vision of passing ability, all of that, I can appreciate it.
But as it pertains to just this super team thing,
I can't get with it. I can't get with going
to Miami as a lot of after Wade already got
(29:23):
one with a bad Shack, with a broke down shock.
Wade got one, and then Lebron comes, That's that's Wade County.
Lebron went to join him, and people sleep on the
fact that Chris Boss was a beast in Toronto, right.
He was one of the best power forwards in the
game at that point, So stop acting like like Lebron
went in, did his singing, and then when Lebron went
(29:45):
back to Cleveland. Let's not let's not let's not underestimate
what Tristan Thompson brought to that, to that, to that series.
Let's not forget that Kyrie put up twenty seven a
night in that series. And let's not forget that Kevin
Love is a part of that team. So, I mean,
I understand what everybody's saying. I understand that Lebron is
(30:05):
just and Lebron is that, and the people who didn't
get a chance to see Mike, they're looking at it like, Okay,
Lebron is hearing now, this is what we've been watching
for the last seventeen years. We don't even remember Mike.
If you're twenty two, twenty five years old, Mike was
you were eight years old when when Mike was gone
or Lebron started, So you don't really get a chance
(30:26):
to appreciate Mike. And I think that the Last Dance
has opened up a lot of people's eyes to what
he really was. Chris and I rich Dallars, no no
doubt about it, no doubt it changed a lot. I
think I've said this, Lebron got crushed by that documentary
and we saw the ESPN pole even with the millennials
(30:51):
and the younger people. Yeah, that was incredible that that
that No, but I'm just saying that. But seventeen cat
pass better like that. But overall, Yeah, the the ESPN poll,
they bear, they listen, this is the new waves, and
I tell people that's about music and everything we do
(31:14):
in hearing. Now, there will never be classic music the
way we knew it. Like God rested Dad Biggie's birthday
as today. That was one of the artists that obviously
came when I was a bad boy. Came a little
bit before me, but while I was a bad boy,
he was still a big deal. Bill will never be
another big just like there will never be another mic
teams come and go so frequently now in days, and
(31:36):
that's because of the Internet and the way he moved.
Everything was microwavable. You'll never have another classic record because
people put out too much. Content is king. So as
long as content is king and you're putting out so
much music, you can't have a classic because you don't
even give it time to register as a classic. You
could be by the time three weeks as brother you
got a new video on a new song, now right,
(31:58):
no doubt the way that's the way a basketball is now.
That's the way everything is now. You need to ring
because the sportscasters and Chris Blue saw the rob and
everybody says, oh, the ring, ring, ring, everybody's trying to
chase that ring, when the reality is, there's reasons why
Jordan's six rings mean so much. And it's not because
he got one. It's not because he got six. It's
(32:18):
because of what he did and how he got them,
what he meant to those six rings. So I imagine
you definitely if you don't, you're not feeling. And I
know you like Lebron and you know he's a great player,
But if you got an issue with him going to Miami,
I know you not feeling. KDS moved the Golden State
absolute and I'm a big I'm a preface this by
(32:41):
saying I'm a big KD fan. This greatness can't be denied.
But come on, bro, you went to to come on,
you want to come on. You went to the Golden
State to get your joints. Come on after you just
came aafter they just wiped you up. Come on, And
I'm a KAD fan, and I'll say that again. I
think he's a monster. But Yo, when you're chasing that
ring to the point that you are leaving Russ Beahan
(33:04):
and you leaving and you're going to Mike, would have
never done that, would have never done that. It's definitely
a different time, and uh, people are different, and uh
that is the disappointment. Sometimes you want to see somebody.
Chris and I have said this about Lebron have been
great had he just stayed in Cleveland and he would
(33:24):
have won there. We think he sold himself short, right,
He would have won eventually there in time, and it
could have been great and he could have built his
own thing. He didn't have to run to Miami. He
just he he did. He panicked, he didn't want to
be quote unquote Charles Barkley, and he was fearful that
that's what he's gonna wind up being rich. Great stuff, man,
(33:47):
We'll get you on again, bro, you you know your stuff.
So this was good. Appreciate. We've had ys over here
in music and TV and all that who don't really
know what they're talking about a little and we ain't
gonna say no name, but I listen at it and
I'm like yog is talking like a straight knob don't
know it was good man. Yeah, we'll get you on again, brother, Thanks.
(34:12):
Ale's do it all right more. I couple coming your way.

you see I couple Chris and Rob on a TV
(34:35):
theme show Thursday. What is this? You don't remember this
Saturday in the mornings. Yep, here we go back up.
Let it breathe. Josie and the Puss Moss saucer, No
loss saucer. It was a Saturday after Saturday morning show. Okay,
(34:55):
not cartoons though, okay, all right, all right, cool sounds
like the monkeys or something. All right, but it was
like that job but but but no, but that, but
that's what it fitted Saturday morning. Bruce Ards five five?
Are you ready? Like lepron We're going big. It's go time.
(35:18):
It's Bruce Sards five five. That's right. For today's five five,
I have to go with my favorite NBA nicknames of
all times. All right, here we go, number five Pistol,
Pete Maravich. That's right, Pistol Pete, great player. I love
(35:40):
that nickname. I mean a nickname is great when we
refer to that player all the time by the nickname.
Do you never hear Pete Maravich. You hear Pistol Pete
all the time. Number four Air Jordan. It's classy. I
know we don't call Jordan Air Jordan all the time,
but it's so classy. All his shoes or Air Jordan's.
(36:04):
I mean, it's just it's classic, classy and classic. So
I gotta go with that. Number three The ice Man
George Gurvin. I just love the name, and I do
think that poster has been embedded in my brain of
the ice man sitting on the blocks of ice. You
remember that ride from the probably the I guess the
(36:25):
early eighties, or maybe it was in the seventh Head
the late seventies. There you go, he's in like the
silver Sweatsuit dope poster. One of the best of all time,
The Iceman George Gurfin. Number two Doctor Jay. Talk about
another classy win. I mean, that's great Doctor Jay again,
(36:47):
that's what we call him. We don't call him Julius Irving.
We call him the Doctor or Doctor Jay. That worlding
dervish out of him stand Long Island and number one,
care to guess Rob. It's like I said, you you
(37:08):
should know when I say we call him that, that
that the nickname is so powerful. It's like it's his
real name, Magic Johnson. It's perfect magic. I mean, yeah,
his game, the way he played was the passing was magical.
And he's got a great personality. And yeah, so mention
(37:29):
you just mentioned doctor Jay. I want to say him
and Howard Stern went to the same high school in Hempstead,
Long Eyeland. Is that true or you just think you think? Yeah?
They makes I believe it. They're about the same man. Yeah,
I think they went to they weren't there is Stern
at all? Docs what six early sixties? No, probably six sixties. Yeah,
(37:53):
I'll take another look. I think together. And there was
something Rob I hated leaving off Key James is good.
King James is good. Um, you know it's not. That's
a good nickname. Uh, the two, these two I really
liked that. I left off chocolate Thunder and white Chocolate.
And here's why. Chocolate Thunder was obviously Darryl Dawkins. White
(38:16):
Chocolate Jason Williams. I gotta I hate to say it
this way, but the players weren't good enough, so the
nicknames much Well. He changed his real he made that
his real name. He changed world. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
It used to be Lloyd Free. He changed the world free.
That's like metal world peace. But those are the top
(38:39):
five nicknames NBA history. Keep it locked. Be sure to

FS one on both Twitter and the Grand We got
trolling or rolling with our friend Martin White's coming up
(39:23):
at the bottom of the hour, and of course shop
talk and uh, you got something to say? Before yeah, yeah,
this topic, yeah, before we get there. My buddy Dan
from Michigan. He said there was a couple other and
he's a pretty good too. I know, it's hard to
pick just five nicknames. How about Clyde Clyde to glide.
(39:48):
It was nice, but I wouldn't put it in the
top five. Earl the Pearl, Yeah, the microwave is really good.
I would put him in that category. Not quite good
enough where it's gonna be that good. But that's a
great nickname. I like that. Yeah, that was just a
couple that he threw out there, so I kick it off.
Now the male man, the glove. You know, there are
(40:09):
some great nights. Michael Joan could have had a good
line when he was talking about Gary Payton. He could
have said that he could have he was like the glove.
They called him the glove, but he played like the
mitten against me that I'm all right, No it was
he but he mentioned the glove. He said the glove
and like last and I agree with him. I don't
(40:32):
think the glove locked him up. Gary was a historically
great defender, but come on, I mean they talking like, oh,
he would have been different had George shut out, like
the answer the answer right, the answer is good. Um Zeke,
how about Zeke? No? Zeke is good. Yeah, that's a
(40:52):
great nickname, like Mamba that Kobe that No, I mean
Kobe called christened himself that and nobody really called yeah nah,
I mean at the end people were like the mom,
but but but you for the most part, nobody ever
called him that, right, No nah nah. I never loved
(41:13):
it as much as everybody else anyway, black mom, i'mad,
but you know it's just okay, but yeah, and and
but it but it wasn't really like it just did.
It didn't hit the mark. No, what a brain man?
Rain man is good? What about a guy like Shaq
who has twenty nicknames? Which one of them none of
them stuck? I guess then the one to me that
(41:34):
stuck the most to shock was shack Diesel, which is okay,
but it's not like all that one. And and uh
foush nickins that's the other one. You know, the as
you remember that, I do remember that I came the
dream I came to the air was good. The aver
was good as good. It's not top five, but it's good.
(41:56):
Tiny tiny, how about tiny Archibaud. That's one that's a
good nie, Tiny Yards. It can't be a good one
if it's one that you've heard of a thousand other
guys named tiny, it's got to be unique. Who the
guy who plays Debo's nickname is tiny I'm talking about
in the NBA who's called tiny bottom though, But I
know like three different tiny problems. You just rob basketball
(42:16):
till twenty seven. That's why. Wow, you don't even know
who titan. Stop watching basketball after twenty or seven. It's okay.
Me and Rich Dollars are gonna have a radio show.
Super have a radio show. Let's let the callers in
on the Little Inside Joe. Though, apparently Rich Dollars is
(42:38):
on Twitter talking about he about to start the sports
talk show. Really, yes, I mean can't. You can't compliment
a brotherly these days without it going to his for
a show. Now, Rob, you're gonna be on there, That's right.
He's alreadys texting me. He's like, hey man, good look,
I'm like, let's do it. Let's do it quick. I'm
real quick. What's your favorite nickname? Bob? And black mom?
(43:01):
But I know you're a Kobe guy and Laker guy. Uh,
did Devil really work for you or not? I mean
it was fine, But my favorite of all time is
rain Man. I think the rain Man that's a good one.
That is a really good What about you, rob Uh,
I think you said it. Zeke, I like that name
real Isaiah Thomas. Yeah, that's a good one. It wasn't
(43:21):
like this just was stuck. Yeah, yeah, they're stuck. I
mean everybody calls him that. Okay, all right, look um,
we're gonna stick with the last dance. And look, people
aren't happy. Not people. I think majority of people are
overjoyed and thrilled and ecstatic with what they saw in
the last dance, but some former bulls, let me put
(43:43):
it that way, aren't happy. Rob. We had Craig Hodgs
on and he told us that he's not happy with
the way Scottie Pippen was portrayed and that he didn't
get a chance to talk in it. He said he's
one of the people that they did not. Scottie Pippen
reportedly is upset. I actually talked texted with somebody today
(44:06):
who is uh close to Scottie, and I asked him,
is it true that he's, you know, poled with the
depiction of him, and he said yes with exclamation points.
So it's true. You know he's upset. But the only
thing is, I think, Scottie, you really can't. Scottie got
plenty of time to talk. There was an episode almost
(44:30):
almost all all about scott He got a segment. Yeah,
he got a whole episode. He got a whole episode,
and Scottie, Yes, all got episodes. I Rob, look, you
know what, Steve Kerr got a half an episode, not
a whole one, but he got an He got more
love than a player of that caliber should would have gotten.
(44:53):
But but did his daddy. I think that it made sense.
BJ got a lot of love. Yeah, he's a friend
of the show. We love BJ. He got a lot
of love. BJ got a lot of love. And BJ
didn't get made to look bad. I mean, I guess
you could say, you know, they embarrassed him when he
was on the Hornets and he talked trash and they
(45:13):
went at him. But you know, but um, Scottie, I
get it. Rob. If I'm sitting there watching it and
I'm Scottie pipping, you know how it is, Rob, Negative
things people say something. Nine people could give you compliments
and one criticizes you, and you're more likely to think
(45:34):
about the one criticism. That's just kind of Most human
beings are like that. And so I I understand Scotty's
looking at Wow, the migrant, Wow, the one point eight
seconds when I sat on the bench because KO coach
got the play call for him. Wow, the contract, Wow,
the surgery. But he's not looking at the fact that
Jordan said he's my greatest teammate ever. And Jordan played
(45:57):
with James Worthy in college and said that that said
that he would he gave him credit for them winning. Right.
I wouldn't have wanted him without Scottie. The other player said.
Scotti was, you know, our favorite teammate. He was a
great guy. And even the KU coach thing. I mean,
I tell you what, it's amazing the way they moved
right past it. And they said Scotty was remorseful. He
(46:20):
was crying when Cartwright gave the speech. So you know it.
I I get where Scotti's coming from, but I just
don't think it's I mean, it was true. I don't
think they went out let me put it this way,
I don't think they went out of their way to
make him look bad. I agree with that, I think
(46:40):
that there's no way of doing Scottie Pippen and not
talking about those issues. Chris, It's just impossible, right, things
that were hidden everybody, everybody knew, Chris. I'm gonna tell
you this, and I swear when I covered the Migraine
game in Detroit, I was working in New York at
(47:02):
the time at the Daily News. I remember thinking to myself, well,
this is before they've ever had ever won anything. So
I didn't know where this was going. I said, I
don't know if Scotty to myself, I didn't write this,
I was I want to comments. I said, I don't
know if he'll ever get over it that in the
game seven he had an ice back on his head
(47:23):
and couldn't help his team win. I'm telling you that's
how big it was. That's what I thought at that time.
Well and Rob and Olden Polini said this yesterday on
the show. MO I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't
come out and say it, because you do feel for
a guy in that situation. But I'm not a doctor,
of course, but I would think that was stress, right,
(47:47):
I mean, would you think that I would think that
was stress got to him? You know, without being a doctor,
you know, no expert opinion, but that's what you kind
of think. And look, they gave scott he love for
playing through the back injury in Utah. You could see
he could barely run and he was in there gutting
it through. So you know, Scottie's upset. But Grant, of course,
(48:10):
Horace Grant is upset. He's probably the most upset because
Mike said, you know, he was one of the people
that talked to Sam. But the book The Jordan Rules,
he called the magazine cover that came out. Read that
from nineteen ninety three, right, nineteen ninety three Inside Sports,
(48:32):
and Horace Grant is on the cover to have him
and Scotty and then the page is like ripped right
quotes where he's ripping Scottie and he's ripping Phil Jackson
on the cover. And that is the year Jordan was done.
You know, Jordan retired, So this is their year without Jordan,
and there it is. So when I read that, Rob
(48:54):
and I didn't remember that article. Um, I mean, you
remember he said Scottie was full of himself. He said,
he got he's arrogant and success has gone to his head.
It made me feel like, you know what, And I
don't really know Horse, Um, he's kind of he's not
gonna be happy. It's it almost sounds like from that
(49:16):
article and from what we've heard because of this situation,
that Horse maybe didn't like the fact that Mike and
Scottie got more shine than him, Right, you know, I
mean you're mad at Scotty? How you mad at Scotti
in ninety three? You know? I don't. I don't get
that either. So that's kind of what it makes me
(49:38):
feel like. Um, But yeah, I look, I get it.
If if Horse had nothing to do with the Jordan rules,
then I he certainly should be upset. But I we
don't know for a fact, Rod, but I think he did.
I don't think. You know, he certainly wasn't the only source.
But he's a Chris from his previous stuff, like we
(50:00):
just saw on that magazine cover, who was Willing to Talk?
That was the that was on the record, Chris, So
the record, do you know what I'm saying? Most guys
don't have the cojonas to go on the record and
say this stuff, some of the tough that he said, right, right,
So I I do I think he was one of
(50:22):
the sources. As I said, a lot of people say
Phil Jackson, I'm Jerry Kraus was almost certainly a source, right.
I mean he had a little issue with Jordan and
jealousy and so I'm sure he was giving up all
that stuff. So yeah, I mean, you know, so what
about m j let's talk about that and being worried
about about the talk. Well, you're right, he because before
(50:45):
he said that, people gonna think I'm a horrible guy.
And um, I think Rob that this has been good
for him. I think most people. I think he's We've
talked about it. He's gained some fans. He's gained a
lot of millennial fans who look at him and you know,
(51:06):
compare him to what we see today, and they see
what he went through to win his championships in context.
His whole career is a context now, yep. And so
I think that they he won some people over in
the Goat conversation. Yeah, they lost some teammates. But you
know what, I think it was worth it from Michael
Jordan to do it. From this standpoint, the way he
(51:28):
just go to this Hall of Fame speech, He's not
leaving any prisoners behind. He just took the task everybody,
so nobody should be really surprised by this. And I
don't think he's one of those guys who quote unquotes
need teammates to feel good about who he is or
what he's about. I think he just feels content Chris
(51:49):
with what he was able to accomplish, who he is
and has kind of moved on. I don't think he'll
be worried like, oh my god, Craig Hodges is never
gonna call me again, or horrors, Grant's upset at me,
you know, like maybe I should send him a pair
of fourteen air Jordan's that drop next week, you know
what I mean? Like, I really don't like like they
(52:11):
calling him for sneakers right right, I can't see you.
He is not losing any sleep. He is that same
steely eyed, tough mentality had as a player he has
and he doesn't worry about what what you know these
guys are thinking about him, were saying. I'm sure, look,
(52:33):
he counted up the cost. He knew what he was
saying in that interview, but I wonder what was going on. Yeah, yeah,
so I think, but that's what we wanted to throw
out to the callers Rob eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox. As we said, we think Jordan gained some
millennial fans. We we you know, maybe people that already
liked him even like him more. But some of his
(52:57):
teammates are upset, you know, is Gary Payton may be upset.
Isaiah Thomas is certainly upset. So some of his contemporaries
aren't feeling it. But was it worth it? Was it
worth it for Michael Jordan to do this the last dance?
He you know, he wanted to put this out, He
wanted to give his perspective on his career, and he
(53:20):
did that. Was it worth it to gain the fans
he did, but perhaps lose some of his teammates and
maybe a few contemporaries As Friends eight seven seven ninety
nine On Fox, You're Turned Away In with Chris and
Rob The Eye Couple. Fox Sports Radio has the best
sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our
(53:40):
shows at Fox sports Radio dot com and within the
iHeart Radio app search f SR to listen live. It's
a TV theme song Thursday. Here on the Odd Couple.
Chris Bussard, Rob Parker, Chris, you remember this greatest American hero.
Let it breathe Alex all right, he ain't. Helley, Oh
(54:04):
my god, call it away from the wing and a prayer?
Who could it be? Believe it or not? Believe it
or not? It's just CB Chris may Rob, who's saying that.
I don't know who the singer was, whoever it was,
let's keep it going. Was that great ast American? He
(54:27):
wrote everything show that was a weird show. I liked it.
Watch did you? Yeah? You didn't watch it? I remember
that on ABC. I watched a Yeah it was. It
was but he was like a superhero, but he was
kind of always fumbling and bumbling, like he didn't know
he couldn't control his own powers, right right, right, right right, yeah,
I was. I gotta kick out of it. All right, Um,
(54:48):
let's go to the phones eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, all right? Was worth Jordan to do this,
even though he may have alienated some former teammates. Let's
do it. Zach and Arkansas, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. It's up, Zach. Hey, guys, how's
it going. Thanks so much for having me on, and
thank you for keeping us entertained throughout this whole coronavirus
that helped me out quite a bit. Appreciate, thank you,
(55:11):
thank you. So here's my take on this whole thing.
I think I think it definitely increased Jordan's value, if
you will, with the millennials. I think it's probably swayed
more in his favor over Lebron recently when it comes
to a goat debate, um, and when it comes to
Scottie being upset and Gary Peyton and all these guys.
I think Jordan could care less. You know, all he
(55:33):
cares about is just his own success and whatever that is,
whether that's his sneaker sales, his right, you know, NBA greatness,
That's all he cares about. Yeah, Zach, that's hard to argue.
I do not believe, Chris, you said it. He's not
losing any sleep. I just I just don't see Jordan
as that kind of guy at all. Chris in Chicago,
(55:54):
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What
you got, Chris, Hey, good evening, guys. Hey, you know,
I think he did everything that he needed to do.
And you know, yeah, he's got the millennials and everything,
but you know, I think he did what he did.
It was worth it as long as he didn't exaggerate
it anything and blow everything out of proportion or anything
else like that. You know, his great point, Chris, great point.
(56:19):
And you know that's a great point by you. It
would be different if he did something and like uh,
you know, like beat up on Scotty when it real
the story really wasn't like that. Scotty will think back
and go after some time, like, dude, I did sign
that terrible contract. I did say I didn't want to
go into game and let my teammates down. I did
(56:40):
all these things. What what part of it doesn't he get?
So so that's a great point, Chris in Chicago. Here's
the other thing, though, Rob and and Nicoller said he
didn't exaggerate stuff. Look, he showed b J. Armstrong hitting
a game winner over right. He showed Reggie Miller pushing
him and hitting the game when they're on him. He
(57:02):
shook that comeback that game seven Rob against Indiana in
nineteen ninety eight. Jordan was two for seven in the
fourth quarter, missed two free throws, and only he scored
four points or two points. Christ Scott right great down
the stretch and if you watch the video, they didn't
(57:25):
show him missing the two free throws, but they showed
Pipping scoring some buckets, other guys hitting shots, like they
didn't have to show that. They couldn't fudge it because yeah,
so I'm just saying like it wasn't I thought he
was a fair for him. It wasn't exaggerated at all.
They didn't go out of their way to make him
look great. He just was great. Sob Yeah, I I
(57:49):
that was a good call. It was tes in Cincinnati
in the NATI. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Tess? My god, I love a show.
I listened to this at work in my way, man
test we appreciate that. Man. I used to live over
the four seventy one bridge in the south Gate, you did.
(58:13):
I live an Independence, not that far from That's why
I live that now working Cincinnati right now, So I
live in Independence. Okay, I got two tape Drake. As
far as the documentary, I think I think Jordan Lebron
played a little bit of part of it. I think
you thought about loving Lebron because you know, you start
(58:33):
hearing the Roblins like as Lebron the greatest, you know,
when they came back and being Golden State, and I
still thought Jordan was to go. I still think Lebron
had ways to go. But you start hearing that rumbling.
And then when Jordan dropped this this documentary, it's no doubt,
no doubt, no, I hear with you, test right, Chris.
(58:54):
I think he's right. Like there was like there was
a remember Lebron said that on the thing about was
afte yea more than an athlete? More than an athlete? Right? Well,
I knew I was to go or whatever, and then
all of a sudden this thing drops, and all of
a sudden, even people who I know are big Lebron
(59:14):
fans Chris have said to me, I don't feel less confident. Yeah,
I'm I like Lebron, but you know, I've never wavered enough.
Jordan's a goat. But I don't think Jordan did this
because of Lebron. I don't think that it all right,
but I know I know some people put that out there.
(59:35):
I don't Yeah, no, I don't think he did that,
but I do think that, like like the caller said,
this is kind of this is really giving him an
even greater advantage over Lebron in most people's eyes no doubt.
Let's squeeze one more in. How about David in Miami.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Dave? Hey,
guys love listening to your show. You tell it the
(59:56):
way it is. Thank you. I enjoy. I spoke to
you a couple of weeks ago about the goat. I'm
the guy that told you Bill Russell has to be
the goat when he left the Championships. What I'm telling
you now is Michael Jordan could kill us. What people
think this is a generational thing. I go to the
park now with my ten and eleven year old grandkids
(01:00:17):
there playing ball. They don't know who Michael is, okay,
and what it is now. He has just rebranded himself
to keep his name out there. Okay, ten years from
now people will forget who he is. Twenty years from
now they want know Lebron the same way that And
you said this the other night when I was listening
to you. You never saw Bill Russell play. You should
(01:00:38):
watch some of this film. Well we watch film, but yeah,
we neilay his game. He didn't have to score, Okay,
he played defense. His four guys could cherry pick andhan
when he blocked, and I believe me. I'm a diehard
Knick fan. I am not a Celtics fan. Okay, when
he blocked a shot, he didn't knock it up to
(01:01:00):
the third role. He knocked it so he could get
it and throw it down court. These guys didn't have
to play defense. But having said, let me ask you this,
but you you um your kids, you're tending eleven year
old grandkids. You mentioned did they watch the last dance?
Young understand? No, No, they're not that laid watching. I
(01:01:21):
was wondering if, but but they know who Lebron is. Right? Okay,
Hey David, where are you from in New York? I
think we asked you this before? Where you from? Brooklyn? Brooklyn?
All right, all right, Dave, good, appreciate it. Thank you, Bud.
He exaggerated a little bit, though. Yeah, the four guys
could cherry pick, like like Russell was one on five
one defense. Right, Yeah, I know, but but all those guys,
(01:01:45):
all those guys were five ft eleven two, right, go
back and look at the go look at the film.
I've seen it. You go like, no, it's it's look
at Bob Cousy's numb. I'm not here to rip Bob Kuzy,
but he shot under forty percent from the field, Chris,
the numbers aren't that pretty. I'm telling you, Oh no, no,
Well I said it about Russell forty four percent from
the field as a six ten sent everybody else, right,
(01:02:09):
it ain't that impressive. And then taking nothing away from
him because, as I said yesterday, Rob the dude was
a winner. And and here's the thing people don't realize.
Obviously Will was a better individual player. But it's not
like Will didn't have a lot of talent with him.
Will played with Guy Rogers Hall of Famer, Paul Arison
(01:02:32):
Hall of Famer, he played with Jerry West, Elgin Baylor
Hall of Famers, Gail Goodrich, you know how Greer Hall
of famer like. He played with some really good players
and still didn't win much. So I think it was,
you know, people tell you it was his approach. Will
went out for the numbers. Russell went out to win,
(01:02:53):
and the year Will the years Will win. He didn't
put up the humongous numbers because he was Here's the
other thing too, we're talking about a nine or ten
hour documentary. What about somebody sent this in on social
media Chris Wild Chamberlain. No, I mean, but the wild
Chamberlain story, it was interesting and and of course all
(01:03:15):
the women sex would would have how many say, ten
thousand women? I mean obviously that were how many hours
would that have taken up? Yeah? I mean, but but
this documentary might be triple X. That's the only problem,
you know. You know what though, honestly, Rob, real talk.
That's a good name. That's a good note. That is,
(01:03:36):
if they put together some type of documentary like this
about Wilt Chamberlain. But we could really hear like, yeah
about him, Yeah, how great he was, how they changed
the rules yep, you know, and all the other style
lifestyle back then. Remember it was free love back then, Chris, Yeah,
that and penicillin, but it was free. But it would
(01:03:59):
be interesting. That's a good one. That's a good name.
All right, we are you got trolling a roll rolling
with Martin Wie's coming up next, But first, be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
All Right, We're coming to you live from the Geico
(01:04:20):
Fox sports radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent
a more on your car shoots with Geico. Go to
Geico dot com er car eight hundred and nine four
seven auto. The only hard party is figuring out which
way is easier. It's time for trolling or rolling. Tom Brady,
(01:04:41):
he's done. Aaron Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl
season trying to get it's trolling or rolling. That's right,
it's trolling or Rolland but I gotta say, Chris, I'm
rolling with comedian Chris on a Thursday. My man, look both, ever,
(01:05:02):
don't ever be fooled. I have gotten at least twice
the amount of rim shots as Rob Parker on itself. Chris,
you're having You're funny. You're having a funny, A rare
good day. My goodness. I've been doing this for the
last nineteen Let's see who get some rim shots here
(01:05:24):
with rolling or Roland. If Chris and Rob liked the story,
you'll hear the roll side. And if they don't hear
the troll sune oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey hey.
Now number two overall picked Chase Young's now in the NFL.
But Old Carlo's drivers never truly end, the former Ohio
(01:05:44):
State defensive lineman had a pretty savage apply to Michigan
coach Jim Harbaugh, who earlier said quote, nothing makes the
Wolverines anger than losing for the Buckeye. Young's response a
simple l ol, you guys who don't let's chilly no Twitter.
That means laughing out loud. Chase is probably laughing because
Michigan has only beating Ohio State once in the last
(01:06:07):
twenty years. Now, Rob, we came from Detroit. Are you
trolling or rolling Jim Harball saying nothing makes Wolverines angrier
they're losing to Ohio State. I am rolling with Jim
Harball because for people in Michigan that winning that game
is even more important than getting a chance to play
(01:06:27):
for the national Championship. That's the one game that matters
the most to Michigan. So I'm rolling with it. Chris. Yeah,
I'm rolling with it too, Rob Exactly, He's right on
the money. I mean, yeah, they hate losing Ohio State
and that's their rival. Those are the two kingpins of
the Big Ten historically, and when you can't beat them,
(01:06:49):
it kills you. So yeah, I'm rolling and Chris wants
you to wish him reimbursement for her promise the National Championship.
Your daughter was there for four years. It didn't see
them beat say thank god. He's not much of a
football fan Michael Troll, the Rolling couple of Fox Sports Radio. Now,
Melvin Gordon has moved on from the Los Angeles Chargers,
(01:07:12):
but it didn't stop it from taking some shots about
the play calling. On the way out the door, he said, quote,
it didn't really play out to my strength, especially the
first couple of years there. I just kind of had
to adjust and make it work. It really wasn't a
system built for me. Now it's the same Melvin Gordon
that held out for a long term deal for all
the last summer and significant part of last season. Chris,
(01:07:34):
are you trolling or rolling that Melvin Gordon wasn't comfortable
as a Charger? I'm I'm trolling. Oh man, Hey, I mean,
come on, man, look I like Melvin Gordon. You're not
He's not that specially Iveragh fewer than four yards to
carry in his five seasons in the league. All Right,
they gave you the ball more than tearge or fifty
(01:07:56):
times a couple of years. He had a nice little,
you know, a couple of night seasons there. But he
bit off more than he could chew when he wanted
that ten million dollars a year and he didn't get it,
and so he's upset. But no, he they didn't need
him much, you know. Oscar Eckler stepped in and did
did well. I'm rolling with it man. The whole season
(01:08:19):
everything went downhill once he stepped aside. You could kid
yourself all you want. Uh. Two years ago, when he
was there and running the football, they had a good chance,
and they decided to roll the dice and and mess
with their team in their offense. And what did they
get last year? No playoffs, nothing. They wound up us
(01:08:39):
thinking up to join and relying on a quarterback who
threw too many interceptions in Philip Rivers. So Melvin Gordon,
I'm rolling with him. That's sour Graves because Roy picked
him to win this. No, I ain't no sour Gray.
If that's the case. It was there last year you
and then he came back. Yeah, but he missed the
(01:09:00):
first four party. Harry Martin rolling the rolling high a
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Jamal Crawford was drafted by
the Bulls in two thousand and he seems to have
a different opinion of last dance anti hero Jerry crowd
take a listen our first year and second year with
(01:09:20):
the young team to lead right, and the fans knew, like, okay,
it's gonna be rebuilt in the year my rookie year.
Jerry thought he was gonna get Graham heeled Tim Duncan
and you got you gotta explain that. Yeah, So obviously
if just retired, right, we have all this cap space,
(01:09:42):
and so we have all these rookies, and he was like,
we're gonna get go back. And look, I guarantee Grant,
Tim and uh team Mac were all three agis and
Jerry wharted believe we will get all three over even
if we get two old right right, right, y'all, y'all
pick the right reether. Now, both of you guys were
covering the NBA at the time. But Chris, are you
(01:10:05):
trolling or rolling that Jerry Cross is a bad as
the GM as the last dad made him out to be.
Uh So, I'm trying to think of what's the right
way to say. I don't believe that no Trump trolling.
He was a great many Hey, Hey, Hey, good, I
don't like that he broke them up prematurely. Some people
think it was right on time. But I can't take
(01:10:26):
anything away from Jerry Krause during that Jordan era he got. Look,
the Knicks didn't build right around Patrick Ewing, you know,
they didn't win anything. Um that happens, and he built
right around Michael Jordan's getting Scottie Pippen was the innovative.
The way he did it. He drafted Horace Grant, he
went out and got Dennis Rodman, he put shooters around him,
(01:10:49):
Jay and both three Peaks. Uh no, j and Rob
remember this, It wasn't a pipe dream to think he
was gonna get almost got them Land, almost got all
three of them, Hill and Tracy McGrady and then Duncan.
There was a chance he might have gone. So yeah,
that wasn't a pipe dream. So no, I think Jerry
(01:11:10):
Cross was a very good gym. I'm trolling it as well.
Oh man, Hey, I know they're trying to make Jerry
sour Krause, Uh you know, making me? How's it? Good one?
But no, he wouldn't be rubbing off on you. He
was born like sweet Rellers. She made it happen, Chris,
I'm telling you, you know he made all the deals.
(01:11:33):
You brought a lot of people. Yeah, you know, I
just couldn't. But anyway, now, Jerry Cross a Hall of
Fame GM. So no, uh, he wasn't. What he said
about breaking up the team was dumb, but other than that,
he did a great job for the Bulls. And Martin
Wright White, are you trolling a rolling with my new
book about Rob park Tales of Rob Parker's urinating mouse
(01:11:57):
um trolling? Hey, hey, hey, hey, wow. Now I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding. In the final in the final segment
of trolling the rolling with Martin wat there you go,
you already knowing he just killed my book sales. I'm sure.
I'm sure book sales will be so great. There won't
(01:12:19):
be a mouse jurinating from a mile and everywhere will
be dry. That's our man. Martin White's trolling the roll
A great job man, Thank you all right, shop talks

This is dope. Yeah, this is Boondocks Yo. Yeah that now,
Rob Parker, I'm telling you theme song. I need to
get off the gray Beard stuff for a little bit.
(01:13:01):
That's all right. Forget that Golden Girls. What are you
talking about? Nobody? Nobody did say man docs dope. No, No,
that would taking dope when they made it. What are
you talking about? Listen to that beat, Listen to that.
That ain't no TV theme song. That's just a rap song.
That's the song it is. That's the Boondocks baby. All right,
(01:13:25):
Let's get the shop talk quickly. Ain't nobody ain't never
been a bomb shop you know that. Ain't nobody, isn't
it you're talking about whoever, whatever, whatever you want, it's
shop talk, that's right. It is shop talk. To the
Akaba Fox sports Reiner, we discuss something that happen outside
of the world of sports, and today we celebrate the
life of Notorious Big. He would have been forty eight
(01:13:47):
years old today. Rest in peace to Biggie Smalls. But
it got me thinking, guys. Now we know Biggie's one
of the greatest rappers ever, but is he even the
greatest rapper to come out of New York. Rob, you're
from New CA. You start with you Wow. Uh, I'm
trying to think should I say, you know what really
(01:14:14):
got to I know what I'm trying to think, Chris,
Come on, No, I'm just trying to say, of all
like I'm trying to think of all of fifty people
from New York got jay Z. Wait a minute, you
got It's gotta be there between jay Z or Biggie.
All right, I'm going to say jay Z. Yeah. Look,
it's like we do with players, you know, you nitpick.
(01:14:35):
Biggie was phenomenal, I mean, word play, the voice. He
made great songs, which all you know, all great lyricists
don't make great songs. So he was. He was incredible.
But unfortunately, because of his death prematurely, it was only
a three year rain. And so just like we would
(01:14:56):
do with a player, Rob, you know, jay Z you
gotta go. If you're really trying to do an objective pole,
you would have to put jay Z. It's like when
Fat Joe came on the show of year or so
ago and he said, jay Z's the goal of him
him seeing because he's he's the longevity he still he
(01:15:19):
just released an album with a couple of years ago
that was relevant. That's like twenty thirty years after his reign.
So um, my personal favorite from New York is charois One.
But I get it. You know, he didn't have as
much commercial success as a jay Z and a Biggie
you know all that ways in Rob g were you Well,
my favorite rapper of all time is Biggie small As.
(01:15:40):
But like you said, man, jay Z has the longevity
that you can't really argue against and the commercials that
can't go ahead. This is kind of tough, dude. There's
so many good names, but I'm a little upset. You
guys just passed over Dougie Fresh, so like thoroughly man,
that's like, look, Dougie Fresh love stop it. That's a
(01:16:02):
fifty I'm younger. I am actually right. Slick Rick was
dope Sick, notick Rick. You know it. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm

Los Angeles Lakers, also the author of thirty two years
(01:16:46):
of titles and tiers from the Best Seat in the House.
He will join us in about twenty eight minutes or so,
so you know, we'll talk to him about the NBA
reopening and what what has to be done, and does
he think it's wise and so on and so forth.
So I think this is gonna be a great conversation
and a timely one at that, So keep it locked
(01:17:07):
for that. But first, Rob, let's go back to the NFL.
And I guess everybody's caught up. Not guess, we know,
we see everybody's caught up in Last Dance Fever. You
know Magic Johnson. Now he told Craig Melvin he's doing
a big doc like The Last Dance on his career
(01:17:29):
and now Tom Brady it was released today. He's going
to be dropping a nine part documentary called Man in
the Arena that, he says he'll go into depth on
multiple topics. Now, he's expected to give firsthand accounts of
(01:17:51):
the most iconic moments of his NFL career, including each
of his nine Super Bowl appearances with the Patriots, and
maybe even his last days as a Patriot. So yeah,
right there, that's when Adam Ventatari kicked that field goal
to beat the greatest show on turf. Right there is
when the Falcons choked down the Super Bowl because they
(01:18:11):
didn't run the football in the second half. Oh yeah,
that's when Pete Carroll. I can't believe what a terrible
coaching job he had there, the best running back in
the in the league, and he didn't run be smoll.
We were gonna let them actually run the ball and
I hope to get it back with forty seconds left,
but somehow they threw the ball in the end zone.
(01:18:32):
Is that we're gonna get? Is that it's gonna be about.
I actually think he's gonna talk about his six record
six game winning drives and Super Bowls. I think you'll
get more of that, mister smart Alec. We ain't this
ain't no you know, Brady is Brady to go to
not conversation why you gotta hate? Why hey do you
(01:18:54):
have to hate? I'm just kid man has thirteen playoff
super nice game tom Brady. Tom Brady is a boy,
and Tom Brady is a boy, and nobody wants that.
Nobody wants to see a nine part series about Tom Brady.
(01:19:14):
He doesn't say anything. He's barely ever said anything. Even
when Peter Alexander from NBC News as Tom Brady is
during the flake Gate, is tom Brady a cheater? Tom
Brady looks straight in the camera and goes, I don't
think so. What kind of answer was that Tom Brady
(01:19:36):
has given us nothing over all these years. There's nothing
compelling about him. There's nothing that makes me want to say.
I can't wait to hear. I'd like to hear the
other stuff. Let's hear the scandals. If he would open
up about the scandals and about the cheating that's gone on,
and if he wants to rip Bill Belichick and and
(01:19:57):
talk about Robert Kraft in his situation down in Arda.
Now I'm interested in watching. If this is some Tom
Brady's grade and the TV method and he has the
perfect life and he has three point four kids and
a model wife and so much money and hair and
(01:20:18):
clear skin. I don't want to see it. Everything right,
You sat, you were rolling til the jealous he started
coming in. You had three point four kids, a beautiful wife,
clear skin hair. I look, I'm with you. As much
(01:20:39):
as I like Tom Brady as a player, as much
as I think he's the goat, his interest to most
Americans is that he's a winner. He's won. It's not
his style of play. It's not his great physical ability
and talent. It's not his charisma. It's not his personality.
(01:20:59):
Not that he he's got a bad personality, but it's
none of that. It's that he's won six Super Bowls,
been to nine, and he doesn't have the things that
will attract you like Michael Jordan did. Michael Jordan was
not only the best player ever. His game was the
prettiest we've ever seen. You know, there were there were
(01:21:20):
scandals that he did address. You know, there were incredible
challenging and obviously Brady overcame challenges too, but Jordan was
just much more compelling as an individual. He was the
indorsement king. I know Brady's got some endorsements, but there's
no if Tom, if I could be like Tom, No, nobody,
(01:21:41):
cause nobody wants to wear nobody wants to wear ugs
all the time, so it ain't the same. And here's
the other thing too, you want to talk about like
Michael Jordan and Chris. I know this quote. It just
it just tells me about Michael and how smart he
was and knowing. You know when they say you know
the room and you know who you're playing to. Do
(01:22:03):
you remember in the last dance when they were asking
him about rebuilding and he said, the Cubs have been
rebuilding for forty five years? What do you think about?
How's that gone right? How's that work for them? Dude,
that's a guy who knows his town, knows the city.
It's prepared, you know what I mean? Like that, that's
a that's a great quote in that moment. Nobody could
(01:22:24):
push back and arguing what he said at that point.
But he was prepared. That's all I'm saying. We never
got that from Tom Brady, nothing like that. Look, I
would like to see an m death documentary on Brady.
I'd love to say thirty minute, thirty hour, thirty You
know what a thirty for thirties generally like two hours,
maybe even a two part, you know, a four hour
(01:22:45):
or something like that. But and you're right, I would
wanted to address deflate gate, spy gate. I wanted to address,
you know, what he was like coming into the league
in his own eyes, and what the team thought of him,
you know. And then he places Drew Bledsoe and they
take off, and when Bledsoe comes back, how's he handle that?
You know, Randy playing with Randy Moss after having a
(01:23:08):
bunch of non descript receivers in his entire career, And
like you said, even the loss to Eli and the Giants,
like there are great storylines that I think would be exciting.
But I don't think he could captivate America like Michael
Jordan did for five straight weeks where and I know
it's a pandemic, but even put put Brady in a pandemic.
(01:23:32):
I don't think he could captivate America like Jordan did.
I don't think many other than Ali and probably Mike Tyson.
I don't know who could. Maybe Tiger maybe. So it's
a tall order, but we'll see. I mean, this seems
to be the rage rob and this is what a
lot of people are gonna be doing, So we will
(01:23:54):
see what comes of this latest trends of superdocs as
I'm gonna to call them. All Right, there's another interesting story.
I believe it was Bleacher Report, Rob and you know,
both you and I agree we don't put asterix on championships.
If Kawhi Leonard last year, I know the Golden State
(01:24:17):
Warriors were banged up. They lost Kevin Durant, they lost
Klay Thompson during the series. Still, hey, it's you know everybody.
You know, everybody's playing under the same rules. It is
what it is. Injuries have been a part of NBA
playoffs ever since the league started. You know, you can
go back to some of the greatest players and they
(01:24:38):
benefited from other teams the other team having injuries. So
I take nothing away from various things. Golden State twenty fifteen,
Kyrie and cover of Love Out. Don't take it away
from him, Lebron Draymond, Ryan Green suspended twenty sixteen. No Asterix,
So I don't put asterix. But Bleacher Report gave a
list of the top NBA quote unquote asterix of the
(01:25:04):
last thirty years, and so they just gave, you know,
situations where you might if they had to put in
Asterix what they would. For instance, here's one two thousand
and two Rob, Game six of the Western Conference Finals,
Lakers verse the Kings. You know that Tim Donaghee, who
(01:25:25):
you know basically you know that that game was the
Kings were about to win, and then the Lakers go
on this parade to the free throw line because of
bad cause. So that's one the Spurs title in the
ninety nine lockout season. You know, Phil Jackson said in
(01:25:45):
an Inner radio interview that year. Here's what Jackson said.
They lost more than a third of the season, and
then they rushed to play those games into a magnified,
magnified schedule, and it questioned the teams that were really
going to have a chance to win it, like Indiana
and Utah, when teams would play eighteen nineteen games in
(01:26:05):
the last month of the season. It broke down some
of the older steady teams because of that impact of
a heavy schedule. I always kind of termed that as
an Asterix season. So the question I'm gonna throw out
if you'll indulgeous, Rob, is if you had to not
that you are if you are believing right right, and
(01:26:28):
I'm and I'm with you, But if you had to
put an asterix by a season or a championship or two, whatever,
what would it be. You want me to go first, Yeah,
you go first. I would go and I don't. Again,
I don't take anything from this championship, it's legitimate, but
I would say the Rockets first. That first championship for
(01:26:49):
sure in nineteen ninety four when Michael Jordan was retired.
You know, they beat the Knicks in seven and it
was Elijahan's first championship ship. And here's why I say that,
not to take anything from a team, but we all
knew that's the most unique situation you could have where
(01:27:09):
everybody on the planet knew the best player, the best
basketball player in the world was not playing in the league,
not because of injury, not because he got hold and retired,
he just chose to walk away. So that to me,
as great as that Rockets team was, we all know
(01:27:31):
the best player wasn't playing. So that could put a
question in your mind as to whether or not they're
the best team. So that would be the one if
I had to put an asterix by. That's a good one.
I think for me. There are a few out there.
Some people look at that Spurs fifty win season, Christy games,
(01:27:56):
fifty game fifty game season. I mean, and some people
look at that one. Some people might look at the
uh Lebron's come back with Lebron's first championship was a
lockout season, right, sixty six games? Oh yeah, you're right, um,
But if you know which one I'm gonna pick, I'm
(01:28:17):
gonna pick when Dwayne Wade won that championship with Miami
over Dallas. And and that's the one I'm going to
pick because there's there's some monkey business going on in
that series, Chris. And so when you hold on when
you now we all know the fouls were ridiculous, all right,
Wade was just I'm trying to get I'm trying to
(01:28:38):
get the number, rob g I need your help. But
in that monkey business, really, are you saying you think
something untoward? What's going on? I really do, Chris, because
and I'm not prepared to really go into it because
we'dn't have to talk it out first. But there were
just stuff that went on, especially the free throws, which
(01:29:02):
was so ridiculous. And remember, if you most people don't
remember this, Dallas was up two old in that series
and then all of a sudden. I would say, Rob,
they were up two points in ninety seven in the
whole series in the sixth game. In the six games,
it's the ninety seven free throws. But here, Rob, I
would say, because I covered that series for the ESPN,
(01:29:26):
they were up two point seven to Old. Because remember
in Game three, they were up like eight or thirteen,
I don't know if it's thirteen in the fourth quarter,
it was like eight with a few minutes left. You know,
they seemed to be on their way to a three
oh lead. Yeah, And I'm just saying, it just didn't
feel right, Chris. I like, like you, if you breathe
(01:29:48):
on Dwayne Wade, it was a foul. You remember that.
It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen.
And it just seemed like they were not gonna win.
It didn't matter, and there was something else there with
the referees interjected themselves into the into the basketball. That
was one of the most un Uh. It was the
(01:30:09):
most unenjoyable finals I can remember, Chris, because it was
so many free throws. Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna give
you these numbers. Robbed in Game three where you know,
Miami one to avoid going down three zero. Wade took
eighteen free throws thirteen eighteen in game five, okay, which
(01:30:32):
Miami one. Of course, he was twenty one of twenty
five from the line in Game six to close it out,
he was sixteen to twenty one, sixteen to twenty one.
Now he was a driver. He was a slasher. But
you're not that much. No, I'm not gonna say it
was you know, without knowing, I'm not gonna say it
(01:30:53):
was untore fixed whatever. I just ya, I'm just sad
I was allowed free throws. That was one that changed
really quickly. And the officials, I don't know what the
numbers were, rob g in game one and two, but
something changed. It just seemed like it wasn't like that
was how Dallas won the first two games, Chris, you
(01:31:14):
know what I mean with Dirk Navitski had a lot
of free throws or something like that, and that was
how they would call in the whole series. It just
it just switched all of a sudden. So that's the
one I would pick. Did you ever hear any rumblings stuff? Okay, okay,
I did, and I just well, we'll have to have
(01:31:35):
a conversation about it. I don't think I should just
talk about it what I was talking about, but um, yeah,
it's a that's an interesting one because that was bizarre.
And you know, look and we both know Avery Johnson,
we worked with him. I felt bad for him because
again he's up too. Oh and he was the start
of his coaching career. Rib was fantastic and it looked
(01:31:59):
up at that time. But he changed his lineup when
he changed his lineup for the Sacramento Kings. Do you
remember that, No, that was Golden State. When that Golden State,
Golden State, they would have Dallas with the number one seed.
He changed his lineup. That was later, Yeah, that was
after this. Yeah, yeah, that was a bad That was
a huge mistake. Remember that. But I I thought maybe
(01:32:21):
his coaching career could have been different had he gotten
that ring. And uh, yeah, it's interesting. All right, We're
gonna throw it out to you guys eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox. If you had to put in
asterisk by any NBA championship, which one would it be?
You're turned away in It's the eye Couple. Fox Sports Radio.

I'm seeing over here because I want to hear Zena
the Warrior Princess. That's pretty good. Now, I wouldn't admit
I have no idea what this is? Samurai Jackets. This
was Samurai Jacks. So what was this on Samurai Jackets
on Cartoon Network? Wow? Yeah, I'm a little younger. Remember
(01:33:24):
when my kids the theme shows were getting quite funky
when watching those little shows. Yeah, I mean, come on,
boo Rob I like it. Yeah, that Boondocks was slash.

on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Joseph?
(01:34:08):
Get even fellas? How are you, Chris? Chris? I know
you ain't gonna like this, brother, but I'm gonna say
all three of steps championships? Oh my, all three of them?
What in two thousand fifteen? In two thousand and fifteen,
who was not playing in the finals with Lebron when
he took in the six games and Kyrie Irving? Okay,
(01:34:31):
so you're taking away you're taking away Kawai's last year. No,
I said, yeah, I'll take that away because Lebron wasn't
in the East. That's easy. Kevin Duran, Clay Thompson getting hurt, alright,
I'm not. But two seventeen takeaway first when Magic only
played seventy five minutes. I mean, if that's how we're rolling, yeah,
(01:34:52):
I'm thinking I'm taking what I mean in the Spurs
against I mean against Zaz all right, rolled his ankle
to thousand and seventeen, Kawhi was out and they three quarters,
they were they were gonna win because of what you
saw for by two. They lost by two. Come on, now, Chris,
you know he was he was gonna he was gonna
kill that game. And in twenty and eighteen, who didn't
(01:35:13):
play for the Rockets the last two games of the
series when they went to seven, Chris Paul. Chris Paul,
I'm just saying, no, that's fine, that's what we're This
is all hypothetical, and that's fine. Joseph would appreciate you.
He would take away two thirds in the NBA Championships.
If you go by the people get hurt. Right. Come on, No,
Mark and Indy, you're on the odd couple of Fox
(01:35:35):
Sports Radio. What's up, Mark? Mark? Mark? Hey, what's up?
What's up? Man? What's happened? I'm not too bad. I'm
from Minneapolis, made all Indianapolis many many Minneapolis or indianapolisis
oh Many. We got you. Blame that on Rob g Yes,
Rob g a type go ahead, made some mistake like
(01:35:57):
once a week or something like, Hey, thanks for Lork,
just time calling in. So I love your show. I'm
all the time. So I love thank you, Thank you, Mark,
I appreciate it. Yea. So my tank is the dollars Flavericks. Man,
I'm a Maverick clan, so I used to leave in
(01:36:18):
twenty eleven. So which one of you put an asterisk on?
That's the only one they won the two thousand and
three we should have won two thousand and three with Wade.
That's why I'm calling about. I want to ask for
all two thousand and six, two thousand and six, the
one Rod put an asterisk on, right, he had to.
I'm just saying the free throws didn't feel good to me,
That's all. I don't have any concrete evidence. I'm just saying, right,
(01:36:41):
Chris Pree, those didn't feel good. You covered free throws
in the first two games combined in twenty five in
game five, right, that's all you need in the five
one of them? Yeah, the referee and was different. Craig
in Houston, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Craig. Hey, guys are doing the man? We're good,
good good? Hey. Yeah, I gotta get Chris man. But
(01:37:04):
just the second time I heard you, man, you take
it up person with a little sideshot at my rockets, man,
urge of all that, the asterist can't be I put
the asterists on the shortened season for Lebron and the
shortened seasons for Timmy. But to put it on the Rockets,
you gotta keep in mind, man, we went back to back.
We didn't just you know, it wasn't just old. We
snatched one and then went away. And that second year
(01:37:26):
Mike was but and if Mike had made it, it
would have been, oh my god, the greatest thing. But
he fell short. No, he couldn't get by a shock
and Penny and when he was out of shape, and
we feel them when I had nothing to do with that.
He couldn't have came back. They came back. Well, let
me finish, Chris. I know y'all gonna come up and
then you can talk about it. Look, those first three
(01:37:47):
years of Chicago Championships, they only beat us twice. We
were only team in the league would have winning record
against Chicago. They had no answer for the Africa and
Bernard Maxwell would keep Jordan's busy enough so that he
couldn't just help and run around and help defense. They
had no answer for it. We were a bad matchup
(01:38:08):
for them. Man. It was just like a classic fight,
you know it was. The matchup was bad for them.
And the year that they destroyed Kemp and Peyton, the
SuperSonics beat us in the game seven in Seattle, you
know that, and we should have got that gay, But
I mean we were on the road and they and
they beat us. They played the heck of a game
and beat us in a game seven over time, you know,
(01:38:31):
and they got y'all would have went down. Y'all would
have went down, Craig. Craig is a big Rockets fan. Man.
The team wasn't good. That that's a good call. That's
a good call. But y'all would have went down, all right.
When the NBA returns the action, what might it look like?
Former Lakers trainer Gary Vady has the answer next. But first,
(01:38:54):

(01:39:15):
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
He's a former Los Angeles Lakers team trainer and author
of the recent book thirty two Years of Titles and
Tiers from the Best Seat in the House. He was
one of the best trainers in the league when he
did it. Gary VD. Gary, Welcome to the Eye Couple.
What's happening, Hey, thanks for having you guys. I hope
(01:39:40):
you're you're doing well your families and you're safe and
healthy and all things considered. Um, you know you're getting
through life with a smile. Yes, Thank you, Gary, and
we hope the same for you and yours. You you're
doing some great blogs on your website, VD Report, v
it t iReport dot com and your your recent one
(01:40:04):
you talked about you know obviously, you know you talked
about if the league comes back, you know, what's it
gonna look like? It seems, Gary, like it almost seems
like a done deal almost. I mean, it seems like
everything is heading in that direction. Do you think this
is the right move or is this perhaps premature? Should
(01:40:26):
we not be as optimistic as it seems everyone is.
That's when I'm asking you, Yeah, Um, that's the thing
that you put it that way, because I don't see
it that way at all. And and and that's not
to say that if they if they do it, it's
it's the wrong move. If you really read what I
(01:40:46):
say in the blog that the rest of us, the
NBA is a microcosm of society, and so whatever's going
on in the NBA is it's just a microver of
what's going on with the rest of us, and that
we should probably follow, you know, what the NBA does.
(01:41:08):
So if the NBA opens up, I have so much
confidence in the people in the NBA, doctor d Fiori
and Chase Provo and guys like this. They are the
best and the brightest and they work with the best
and the brightest in the world. And so if they
open up and they're doing things in a certain way,
(01:41:32):
then I would say that's how you should live your life.
But to go back to what you said that it
looks like a done deal, that that's your perspective. From
my perspective, I really don't see that. I read what
they're saying, and they haven't given any hard dates. Um
(01:41:54):
they're saying they're working on it, and you know they are.
They want to open up. But I think that especially
the NBA, UH and the way they operate at a
very very high level of science. Um, they are data
driven and and the data just isn't in yet, and
(01:42:20):
I think it's going to take some time for it
for it to to get there. And so if anybody
tells you that that they know what's going on, um,
in my opinion, they're lying to you. How about I'm sorry,
go ahead. You can have two hospitals. You're gonna have
(01:42:42):
two hospitals that are a few miles from each other,
and they're both treating COVID nineteen differently. That that tells
you that no one really knows how to treat it.
And you know, we read one thing one day from
the spurts, and then the next day or a couple
(01:43:02):
of days later, you hear something completely different. And that's
not because anyone's lying to you. It's because at the
time they create models based on the data that's available,
and then as more data comes in, it changes the model,
(01:43:23):
and therefore it changes people's opinions and it goes I mean,
break down two symptoms. Do you remember when it all started,
it was all respiratory uper respiratory. You know, this virus
is extremely contagious more contagious than any other virus. One
of the reasons why is it resides in the upper
(01:43:46):
respiratory system as opposed to the lower respiratory system like SARSDA,
So it's easily projected out okay when you exhale. And
so it was supposed to be an upper respiratory illness
that was with elderly people with comorbidity. Then all of
(01:44:07):
a sudden, they switched gears and now there's young people
thirty to forty degrees, thirty to forty years old that
are having strokes from COVID nineteen. Then you jumped again
to young children having this immune response to the virus.
(01:44:27):
They probably had the virus, they were asymptomatic, their immune
system fought it off. But the immune system then goes
into its inflammatory stage, which is a normal thing for
it to do, and then kind of attacks the child.
And so we really don't know what the next thing
is because it seems like it changes constantly. And the
(01:44:50):
reason why it's changing is because more data is coming in.
Let me ask you this question. Let me ask you
this question between say, playing basketball, uh and the way
with droplets and I don't know, sweat and saliva or
whatever it's changing or whatever possibly getting on people compared
(01:45:13):
to maybe saying, playing Major League baseball, is there any
difference where playing basketball or football where you have more
chances of getting it because of the contact and how
close you are body wise, were people compared to say, baseball,
where you're not on top of each other for the
most part. Okay, So, so now we're talking about an opinion.
(01:45:36):
We're not we're not talking about shining. I'm asking um. Okay,
So so we're just talking about an opinion, and and
what you're talking about is common sense? Okay, Roger, right,
And the answer to that question, as far as I'm concerned, logically,
it's strictly my opinion. I'm obviously not an infectious disease specialist. Absolutely,
(01:46:02):
basketball even though it's not actually classified that way, but
all of us that were involved in basketball, we consider
it a contact sport. Well, what the scientific world is
telling you right now is that stay away from people
and don't have contact with them. And so you would
(01:46:25):
be actually doing the exact opposite of what the science
is telling you to do. Okay, So trying to create
this bubble where everybody within the bubble, you know, has
tested negative and they believe is negative. I think it
(01:46:48):
is extremely hard to do. But once again, we're talking
about really really bright people in the NBA. They may
have some some ideas and evidence of things and how
to do things that I'm not aware of right now.
But you know, even the testing, let's say you just
rely on testing. I know Roast Corporation has come out
(01:47:12):
with an FDA test that they consider valid and reliable.
And then what does that mean because none of the tests.
A lot of the tests are bogus. But let's just
take this Roast test that we think is valid and reliable.
Even that test is not one And so if one person,
(01:47:36):
the research is showing that one infected COVID nineteen victim
can infect five point seven other people, so that's almost
six people. So that would be over a third of
your team if one person becomes positive. And that's just
(01:47:56):
the players. We're not talking about the coaches. We're not
talking about the sports medicine people and all the people
that it takes to put on a game. And I
think this is why the NBA is saying, we're we're
working at it, we're working at it, we're working at it,
but they're not saying we're there yet. And one of
(01:48:19):
the reasons I think is that it keeps hope alive.
You know, if they pull the plug on the season,
you know, hope is a horrible you know, if you
lose hope, that's a horrible feeling. So right now, you know,
they're trying to be hopeful, keep hope alive for the
(01:48:41):
people that work in the NBA, the players, the coaches,
the athletic training staff, you know, everybody else it's involved,
and the fans, and it keeps hope alive. And I
think that's really important. I think they're doing a great
job and they're trying to find the answer. Gary, we
(01:49:01):
gotta we got we got about a minute left. Let
me ask you this. They've they've proposed this bubble idea,
right keeping everybody in Disney World or some campus in
Las Vegas in about a minute. How realistic you've been
around the NBA. How realistic is that that you could
keep everybody sequestered like that. It sounds like not at all. Well,
(01:49:25):
well we'll see once again, you guys, you're backing the
end to a corner. Because I like to to work
off of evidence based things that you know, science and data,
and and you're asking me for an opinion. Um, And
so when you have opinions, that's how you get in trouble.
So you guys are putting me like a bullseye on
(01:49:48):
me right now. I think it would be extremely difficult
to do because there's so many people involved. Um. When
I broke in into the NBA, you know, pat Riley
used to have us saying it's twelve plus two plus one,
twelve players, two coaches and the athletic trainer. We were
(01:50:08):
the inner sanctum. You're talking about fifteen people. Now the
team pictures more than thirty people. And that's just the team. Now,
you got to know beyond that, you know, you have
so many people and basketball opts, you know, to put
on a game that you're talking about a lot of
people to sequester and you know, but once again, and
(01:50:34):
to say this, I really have faith in the NBA.
I've I started as an assistant with the Utah Jazz
in nineteen eighties. So I started with Larry O'Brien as
a commissioner, then David Stern and now Adam and I
never saw them do anything to put players health at risk.
(01:50:54):
And I believe that in my heart. Now, maybe a
calculated risk, but it's if they say it's okay, then
I think that they've done their due diligence. I have
faith that they've done their due diligence and they really
feel confident that they can resume. That's Gary Vedy, the
former Los Angeles Lakers team trainer. Gary, thank you very much.
(01:51:17):
That's good information and sobering information. You're the author also
of thirty two years of titles and tears from the
best seed in the House. Thanks a lot, Gary. We
appreciate it. Jason Smith, appreciate it all right. See more
a couple coming your way. Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports
Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.
(01:51:40):
Catch all of our shows at Fox sports Radio dot

to listen live. We had it made Rob. I liked
this show. I can't say I like as much as you,
but I liked it. But I'm sorry, this just don't
(01:52:01):
sound right. After the last two songs we heard, thank
you Samurai. But I was trying to get zena but
we couldn't find it right. Oh, I did have it.
I just didn't know if you were serious. I was
serious that's what I text. You give me a little
Zena right now? You gotta give me at least ten seconds. Yeah,
(01:52:22):
you remember Zina? That show What About Her with Kevin Sorbow. No,
I was a freaking grown maze. You you remember this show?
Is Zena the newest show that you've actually enjoyed? The
theme song too, and that's from What the Midnight? What
is it? Here we Go? Zena was my girl? Yes?
(01:52:47):
What were you doing watching this? To come on? No?
It was like a Saturday night at eight o'clock at night?
Why are you eating dinner? So that's what you were doing,
mister Rachel, Rob, How is this better than game watching
zin Is? How is it the same thing? He just
(01:53:07):
got a little The only difference is thirty years old.
It's great. What do you mean it was great? I'm
gonna be honest with you. Then, you know they like
the the last TV show? Rob? Now, I watched you know,
I watched Netflix Like I've been telling you, I'm watching
Homeland with my wife, breaking bad the Wires. What was
the last TV show you watched on a consistent basis
(01:53:31):
on television? Not like right? The last last on network TV? Right, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox.
If I'm not mistaken, Law and Order? I'm serious? You
ready for Order? Because you know we can last Shoulder
that I watched all over the place I was. I
(01:53:54):
was still married and my wife and I used to
watch Seinfeld every Thursday night. That's the last show that
I watched consistently on television. I watched Seinfeld. That great.
I watched Seinfeld. But that explains a lot, Rob, But
the last TV show you actually watched with Seinfeld? No,
(01:54:19):
I'm I'm but when did that go off? Probably around
me too? Seinfeld and Law and Order? Aren't those around
the same time? Order? Still, No, we don't really go home.
We don't get to go home at six o'clock. You're
at home. All you have time to do is to
watch TV show. Now we're talking about something that I
(01:54:39):
talking about back right, not tape, not Netflix, because I'm
sure Rob, you watch right. We were at games and
right right, that's the thing you at games? Yeah, every
not anymore. You guys haven't been in that line of
working what fifteen years? Come on, man, you're killing me. No, No,
And I was going to games up up until a
(01:55:00):
few years ago. That's a regularly right, not covering them.
You were just going because you wanted to. All right, Alex,
what about you? You want? You still watch shows? Now?
Rob g hold on, what do you watch now? What
do you watch every week? Like, like, do you watch anything? Yeah?
I watch billions. Don't embarrass I watched Billions on Showtime
every week. Yes, but I am right now? What do
(01:55:21):
you work? Well? Rob, you know, I'm a one of
the hosts of that Weave Nation podcast. So I'm anime dude.
Like every single day when I go home, before I
go to sleep, I'm watching a new anime show. We
have no idea what you're talking about. Anime? It's cartoons,
I mean on TV. Yeah, there's that. So there's no network.
Nobody's watching any network game and network show. That last
(01:55:43):
thing I watched was Game of Thrones, but after the
first season I fell off to people. Are you notice, Alex,
because you into the technology anime and audit right, people
have moved away from network. Well oh yeah, network, cable
and audit. They go to these streaming sites. That's what
I'm on. It's huge. Yeah, I hear you, all right,
Eye couple will catch you guys tomorrow. Pet
