Old Cup Wednesday is today Wednesday? And Thursday Wednesday? What
am I saying? You're trying to skip over worship Wednesday?
(01:07):
Oh no, I would never do that. What you want
to throw holy water on? It's just you never skip
over Magic City Monday. Oh we won't do that. All right,
we got that. Let's welcome in the Odd Couple crew.
Of course. Rob g our producer. It is Iowa Sam
filling it for Alex, our engineer today. Uh deb Car
said our sports anchor. She'll keep us updated on throughout
(01:30):
the program what's going on. And Maya's our intern today
is today her last day, next week last. She's on
the hot seat too. And I know, don't take it personal.
That's right. We still like you even if you. And
our social media guru is of course Elijah. He will
keep the social media buzzing about the radio show. So
(01:52):
Chris Boussard, they're all on the other side of the glass.
Let's kick some masks. We got a great show plan.
Iowa City Sam wearing an Iowa City Yacht Club shirt?
Do they have yacht clubs? And Iowa? I lived in Iowa,
so I can crack on it. No, they don't have any.
They don't have to be water there. The Ozarks is
near there, right, something funny lakes? Yeah, yeah, right, all right,
but here we go. We got a lot to get
(02:14):
to today. The Portland Trailblazers up to oh On the
Oklahoma City Thunder, a team that I and are trusted.
NBA analysts antonio' daniels thought, or think we'll get to
the Western Conference. Fine, I told both of you guys
are good right now, both of you, Well, we're gonna
(02:34):
get to that. You're gonna get your too. What do
you say now? What does it twenty yesterday? You might
already out of him next week and a large drink.
Don't cheat me out of my drink. He's former NBA
player whatever with a championship. So what. I'm a thirty
three year newspaper veteran. I know the NBA. Okay ud
(02:58):
all right, So that's one thing we'll get to. The
Akers still looking for not only a coach, but a
president and assistant Jim something something to get in there
and help them figure out where they're going forward and
how much input should Lebron James have. We'll get to
that as well. Robert Kraft fighting for to keep some
(03:19):
embarrassing video out of the public eye. We'll talk about
that in the Philadelphia seventy Sixers as well. Ben Simmons
a report today by Chris Sheridan New York Daily News
that the Sixers Elton Brand wanted to trade Ben Simmons said,
he's not a playoff player, so a lot to get to.
(03:39):
But that Craft story, I can't wait till we get there,
because I know I'm not the only one who wants
that video released. I'm not. There's a lot of people
who want to see the only one on this set,
Elijah and clamoring for it. I'm not hard for it.
First of all, you're going on the Golden Girls cruise.
Next thing. You want to see Robert Craft in action?
What's up? What's I'm just saying, like you, what are
(04:04):
you trying to say? I mean, I can't even say what, Rob,
Jesus fetish? You gotta fetish for senior citizens? Is that
what he says? Hey, hey, don't just count the gray hair.
I keep telling you, my goodness, We'll get to Robert Craft,
and we got Vince Goodwill in about twenty five minutes,
the Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer, who'll get into it
as well with us. But look, Rob, I'm on the
(04:27):
record and I am not changing my opinion. Russell Westbrook
will be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Russell Westbrook
is a tremendous individual, spectacle, a phenom. Russell Westbrook will
be iconic. Thirty forty years from now, people will be
(04:48):
looking back and saying, Russell Westbrook average a triple double
for three straight years, if not four or five. Who
knows how long this streak will go, So he his
individual legacy is set. But I also say this, Rob
Russell Westbrook, as great as he is, as legendary as
(05:12):
he'll be, will never win an NBA championship. Well, of course, okay,
I just want to be. I mean, it can't be
because we have no idea. But I'm telling you watching
the way he plays basketball. He's a hundred and ten
miles an hour for forty eight minutes, which is great
(05:34):
and allows him to get in the minds of opponents,
allows him to overwhelm them at times with his athleticism,
allows him to rack up legendary historic statistics. But it
is not always a smart way to play. You can't
play minute forty seven most nights like minute seventeen. You
(05:55):
gotta under stand time and score. He takes some bad
three point shots. He shouldn't be shooting nearly as many
threes as he does because he doesn't shoot him well,
and he is being outplayed dramatically by Damian Lillard. At
this point, Damian Lillard is a better player than Russell
(06:16):
west Chris because let Lillard has improved and Westbrook has
declined a little bit. So this is my only thing
I don't understand. Okay, you make this proclamation. You come on,
he'll never win it anywhere. Okay, but wait a minute,
if the educate me out just saying like, no, never,
you what's your point? You never say never? Is that
your point? No? I'm just saying, what at him? Tell
(06:38):
us win the chain. A couple of days ago, you
got them going to the Western Conference finals. It's that championship. No.
But my point is you're you're going from he's gonna
go to Western Conference finals led by Russell Westbrook, and
now you're telling me he can't win a championship. I
don't know how you go. How do you go from?
If you if you go to Western Conference finals, aren't
(06:59):
you a stone strow from at least getting to the finals.
No way, how because they're gonna be an overwhelming underdog
whoever comes out of that side of the bracket, whether
they face. But there were golden stuff, they were up there.
They were always upsets in sports. That's why we watch
That is why we watch them. My only point, and
you're banking on an upset. Yeah, I'm banking on it
(07:21):
and educated opinion, just like you're educated. You don't think
they can get to the conference final. No, that's what
I didn't saying he's gonna win a championship. I'm not
even gonna I'm not convinced that he's not gonna win one. Now,
it was just like you did an educated opinion. Your
educated opinion was the Clippers traded away their best player.
(07:41):
That's what you told me. They want to tank, they
don't want to give up their first their first round pick.
The Lakers are gonna make the finals. That was educated
are gonna make the final? No, the playoffs? What upsetting you?
Many too? No, Chris, what don't we using this revisionist
here from not? What was your prediction? Seven or A?
I'm not I'm not stop the lying. Really, I'm telling
(08:05):
you said, did you know Dick seventh or eight? Did
you not? Chris? Did you not? Yes? I did it,
that's all. But when it when it came down to it, No,
I don't want to move on because you can. I
don't change my opinion, my pick in the middle of
what your point, in the middle of the season, I
predicted Lakers with mad No, just like everybody. I was
(08:27):
the only one who said that they wouldn't make it.
And my point to you is when you see something
going on, you can make a change. And my point
is that you you use logic. You were like the
Clippers traded the way of their best player. You said
that already, and then Sam Amy was on yesterday and
said everybody around the league thought that. I mean, when
(08:48):
you start talking men, when you start talking to people,
you find out, okay, they want to try to make it.
But I find that got to do with Russell Westbrook.
Can't we stick to the story. We all ticket to
the story. But the Clippers have nothing to do with this.
Why is Russell Western? Tell me? Tell me why? Why
is Russell Westbrook gonna lead a team to a championship?
(09:08):
Give me your opinion, because he's good enough, and you
know what what he was running off all those triple doubles.
His team was winning and now in the season game.
I know that. But you have Paul George who's hurt.
Now he's heard are you last night? But has he heard?
I don't know. He looked fine last he's heard Russell
what he was going to? You didn't give Why are
(09:30):
you giving Paul George, and I'm saying is right. Now,
he's your logic, here's your reasoning. Would never say never? No,
I that's the reason I've said that now. I've said
never before. I said Tom Mizzle would never win another
national championship after he won the first one, and you
said Jess Whadey would never win ye later, you really
want to how many times you say Tom Brady will
(09:53):
never win something another super Bowl? Three super bowls ago? No,
I didn't. My point to you was that it was
I'm not buying your your take because but you gotta
say never, because a couple of days ago you got
them in the Western Conference. But how would they went
to going to the Western Conference final? Now he can't
win since I didn't make nothing. I never said he
(10:15):
couldn't win nothing. You said he can't win a championship,
you'll convince you'll never win is the Western Conference finals?
How did he get a championship? How would he get
to the Western Conference finals if he's so bad and
what he does doesn't win. I mean, that's what you
just said. Ain't gonna have a conversation. Don't lie on me.
I'm not lying. I started. Let me finish before you interrupt.
I started off this conversation talking about Russell Westbrook how
(10:39):
great he is individually. So I never said he was
so bad to use your words, all right, I never
said he couldn't win. To use your words, I said
he will not win a championship. And don't get up
here and act like getting to the conference finals is
the equivalent of winning and in be a championship. But
if it's not what you in a chance to do it,
(11:01):
as my boy, a champion does not win me. I win.
Didn't say you'll never have a chance to win one.
I said he'll never win one. A week you're you're
gonna argue me, argue me on what I said. I
didn't not on something close. All I'm saying is here
something harshoe brow. How you go from a couple of
days ago, you and that Toyoda couple of days ago,
(11:22):
I'm saying it today they're going to the what's the
conference finals? And I'm the I'm the guy saying no,
I'm unbelievable, unbelievable of all the things you said, this
is I mean, don't argue me on what's or Westbrook
can get to the conference finals. I'm not debating that
that's not a championship. I said he won't win a championship.
(11:43):
I can sit up here and say he'll reach the finals.
That doesn't mean I'm saying he's gonna win a championship.
Argue me, or saying he's gonna win the chap All
I'm saying, don't argue me. Because I said he can
make the conference finals. That's not winning the championship. But
I'm telling you that if you get to that, to
shit your waiting, you have a chance to win. Didn't
whatever we have a change he said. He never said
(12:05):
he'll never win. Since win? Did never win be the
equivalent of never have a chance to win? Since win?
All I'm saying to you, if you think he has
a chance and he could win, how you're saying he
never's gonna win. Any player in the NBA has a chance. Rob,
You're in the NBA. That's why Ken stands. That's why
I can't sit there today and say he will never
(12:26):
win a championship. He has years to go. I don't
know what kind of trades could happen. I don't know
what players on the team could be even better to
help him or they get a third guy. I can't
sit here and say that he'll never win. I'm so.
I don't know if he might change his game to
suit the other parts. He had been no league eleven years.
He didn't change his game for Kevin Durant. He didn't
change his game for Paul George. Who's he changing his
(12:48):
game for it? But he might realize that he has
to change. That's my pac in the league. It's thirty
years old. Sometimes you gotta change. Well, he needs to
change if he's gonna win a championship, not a conference
finals birth all right? Is that what you you want
to argue? Christian said he could make the conference las. Yes,
I did. That's two steps away from winning a championship.
(13:12):
It's still say I gotta get it. I said he
can get close. He's been close, but he didn't win it.
That's a difference. He was, but he was with a
totally different team. You can't put that on him that
he didn't win. I didn't say it was his fault.
I said he didn't win. I'm not saying he can't
get close. He is a tremendous way. I alan't Iverson
couldn't win a championship. Similar, Alan Iverson was this great individual,
(13:36):
spectacle and phenom who deserves all the love in the
iconic status he gets. But his style of play, volume, shooter,
low efficiency dominates the ball. It's hard to win that way.
And that's the same thing with Russell Westbrook. That's all
the brothers saying totally different. I'm tired too. My good
(14:00):
is I got a headache? After all is yelling what
you know about basketball? Can you win the championship? With
Russell Westbrook? We'll continue the conversation with you next. A
seven seven ninety nine on Fox A seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine is The Eye Couple
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
(14:20):
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app. At Farmers Insurance, we know
every windshield collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird, boop, drone,
seen it covered it? Talk to farmers. We are farmers
(14:43):
under written. My farmers took fire insurance exchanges and affiliates
products unavailable every state. All right, it's the Eye Couple.
And we got some great news for you. There's a
quick and easy way you could save money. Switch the
guy beco. It only takes fifteen minutes to see if
you could say fifteen percent or more on your car insurance.
Go guycoll dot com and see how much you could save.
All right, we threw it out to you. Can you
(15:06):
win a championship with Russell Westbrook as your number one guy?
That's my thing. That's not what you say. No, that's
what I'm saying. No, but you that's what I mean.
Can you roll back the tape? You never said that, Chris, No,
but that but as Rob g that's that's my Rob
as the number one guy saying leader of your team.
I'm just no, just talking with Rob in general. Do
you say to the first secon didn't say it in
(15:28):
the first second, all right, but it's understood as the
leader of that sea. So you always say when they
got to get you said friend, fine, fine, just leave
it all right, Let's go to let's go to Jeff
and Tulsa. You are with the Eye couple. Hey, guys,
thanks for taking my call. I've just got a caveat
real quick. When you when when you Chris and Rob
really get fired up and going. Your voice gets so high.
(15:51):
I have forty seven dogs show up on my porch.
They're the only ones that can hear your voice that high.
Pit You couldn't understand the word. I would say, well
that was Chris, Yeah, Chris, That's what I meant. Yeah, Chris.
When when? When? When Chris gets going, it's I just
have all the neighborhood dogs show up wondering, wondering what
that sound is that? Jeff, did you hear how composed
(16:12):
I was? You know, that's my experience of covering Rob.
You lost, you lost your composure. Chris got to you
yet again. But but your to your point on the question. Uh,
you know, being in Pulse, one hundred miles from the city,
I get to see a few games, and of course
I watch as many as I can. We're obviously thunder
(16:33):
fans here. Um. I disagree with Chris's point about his
his production going down three seasons averaging a triple devil.
That's that's not going down. But here's what does happen
when the playoffs start. I believe he feels the pressure
of being the leader and it changes his game. It
it puts pressure on him to take care of the wins,
(16:56):
to take care of the of the team, and to
be the lead. And I think it changes. I think
his sile even though to your point, Chris, it's one
hundred and ten miles every game. I just feel like
the pressure gets to him and I don't believe he
can win a title for the Thunder by himself. Now
you changed it when you guys came back on air
(17:18):
about can he be the number one thing win a title? Right?
That's different. Yeah, that's different than what you said, Russell.
I don't believe can lead him to a title himself,
but with Paul and with maybe one other complimentary player.
Obviously Steven Adams is solid. But I think we're still
missing one. Jeremy Grants sharers Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I
(17:40):
still think we're missing one. We're missing one player. I
don't know what it is. Kevin Durant would be nice,
and I haven't I haven't given up on the fact
that he's going to come back home, you know, and
shock everybody kind of like, right, appreciate What about Marty Kentucky.
(18:00):
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up Marty? What's up? Chris? And Rod, what's happening, man?
I know, did you turn your radio down during that? Marty? What? Now?
Marty loved it? I said, did you turn your radio
down while Chris was squeaming? No? I didn't because I
liked what he was saying. Thank you. Um, I felt
(18:21):
like that. I read between the lines and I understood
that Chris was saying that he wasn't they wouldn't win
a championship as him being a number one guy, and
I can't even see it as a number two. I
know he's I know he's fantastic player, and he wrecks
up staff. But you look at point guard of the past,
like like look at the Derek Fisher. I mean, he's
not a We're Russell Westbrook. He's not even near the
(18:42):
player of the talent. But with a guy like that
running your offense, slowing it down and it needs to
be slowed down, managing the game, and you got other
stars around him that if we're talking about the point
guard position, and I think that Chris is talking from
the perspective of a point guard, a former point guard himself,
and I totally caught what he was saying. I know
it's hard for you can't take Robin. You're over to
(19:04):
day dreaming about Robert Krafty that he was Oh man,
rock that good jobs. Lose that, Thanks Martin. Let's go
to Lewis in Las Vegas, Louis boys, how you feel?
Oh goody? Thanks taking my call, gentlemen, I'll tell you
(19:26):
what you know. And this this is coming a little
bit from your boy. I call him Calhurd. On the
other end, I do believe in his talent, but I
don't think that he can win a championship in the
sense that I don't think he's the leader the Thunder
need not everybody can be Ah. You know Steph Curry
where you know Golden State is Texas Curry team big Board.
(19:47):
He comes over, he takes us step back. Hey, you
know you came to play with us. Let's play. Not
everybody can do that. And if you had more players
like Curry in that mental sense, it'd be greater for him.
I feel that some he watches the game and something.
It's something that's noticeable. The Thunder accommodated a lot to him.
If you see a lot of these rebounds, you know,
(20:07):
some of these players get out the way for him
to get the ball or it's contest the rebound, but
even your own teammates. Nothing wrong with that, but some
of those numbers are padded. I just don't think he's
the leader. The thunderneath and the thunder do need to
get maybe one piece, maybe two, not two, two number
ones obviously, but a good piece around him and another
one to compliment PG and him. I also will say
(20:29):
one thing in my perspective that a lot of individuals
don't talk about, and his greatness comes from his drive.
So the drivers, but not the leadership. All right, good call,
good Callttle, you appreciate it. What about Eric and Los Angeles?
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Eric?
(20:50):
What's going to Rove? I gotta ask you, man, was
your grandmother black? Was my grandmother black? Of course she was, okay,
because you know when your grandmother told you, hey boy
said what I'm interested in hearing what he was gonna say?
You knew what, Chris, back up as the question you said,
when you're great together, saying because we didn't hear you,
(21:11):
you lost, we lost. Your grandmother says, hey boy, go
pick up that thing over there. You knew what she meant.
You didn't question the thing. You knew what she meant,
and you knew what Chris meant when he said that
Russell Westbrook couldn't win a champion. No, I did not, No,
I didn't not. He knew it, No, I didn't. You
know what when Chris is a somewhere and Chris Chris
was a New York Times reporter. Yeah, all right, and
(21:33):
that would never fly. If you wrote a story without
spelling it out correctly. You know him right, it would fly.
The league guy, that's why we got about the teenth
year and you're the seventh man and win the title? Fine,
but did Gary Payton went into championship in Miami changes legacy? No,
he won a championship. She doesn't squeeze and shown in Sacramento.
(21:55):
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. All right,
what's up fellers man and shout out to the best
one on one player or there Fox Sports and Chris
and the boat, Thank you, bro, you know your stock
boat boat best broadcaster of all time? I thought you say, no,
you we were right. That's my man showing gun showing.
(22:17):
We don't want up much time, so real quick man.
One thing that I think you're forgetting about Chris is
the ability of the Oklahoma City Thunder to actually pick
up good draft picks. They picked up three MVPs since
they moved to Oklahoma City. So for you to say
that he would never win the title of the number one,
those were lottery picks when they get them, okay, but
they like high. They also they also they also picked
(22:39):
up all the depots. They also picked up some bonus.
They also traded those two and flip them and got
Paul organizations in the NBA. Doubt their ability again, how
close me dot your church? Take me to church? How
close into a championships is Durant left? That's three and T.
You're rolling and more qualified. You're throwing in more qualifiers
(23:00):
same front of you want to take me to church?
Have they won a championship? That's all you need to
know about church? Have they won the champ Have they
gotten close? So back go back to the last guy.
The average a triple double. Oscar Robertson didn't win one
until late in his career when he got when he
picked up the big man, right, So what makes you
think Russell on the front because down because Oscar anything
(23:24):
like one appreciate the call my man, I'll just look
at Sun Call anytime you want. Mike Sean. Sean brings
good calls, but he got information like that, and I
don't know where he got the boat from. My goodness,
what the best broad broadcaster of all time? My man,
let's move over to the Bob Costas. Let's move over
(23:45):
to the Eastern Conference. Yahoo Sports NBA insider informer uh
nephew to Rod Parker, Vincent Goodwill nephew says Ben Simmons
just might be the most important player in these NBA playoffs. Wow,
he'll let's plain next. But first let's bring in Deb
Carson for the latest. Hello, gents, how today I am fantastic,
(24:08):
Thank you so much. I appreciate that had to be
out on some family business, but I am back and
lots of NBA action. One game underway, Pacers with a
twenty seven twenty two lead over the Celtics with three
to go in the first quarter. Boston leads a series
one zip. Have two more games coming up tonight eight
Eastern Pistons and Bucks, with Milwaukee leading that series one
zip and Houston with a one nothing lead over the
(24:29):
Jazz as they tip off nine thirty Eastern tonight from Houston.
Also at the game underway on the ice right now.
Boston already out to a two nothing lead over the
Maple Leafs, eight to go in the first and they
are playing this one in Toronto. Toronto leads to the
series two games to one. The Alliance of American Football
filed for bankruptcy, claiming eleven million bucks in assets and
(24:50):
forty eight million dollars in liability. And that includes doing
CBS five million bucks, one point two million bucks to
Arizona State University and about sixty thousand dollars to Mike Pereira,
forty five thousand to Dean Blandino. So we hope those
gentlemen find a way to collect. NFL is going to
be announcing its complete schedule for the twenty nineteen season
at eight eastern tonight. They did reveal some dates, times,
(25:12):
and opponents for the International Games. We'll get to those
in just a moment. But online car shopping can be confusing,

played at Wembley Stadium October twenty seventh Bengals play the
Rams and then November third, the Texans take on the Jaguars.
And there will be a game played in Mexico, provided
the field is in better shape this season. It'll be
played at Estadio Estecca November eighteenth. That'll be the Chiefs
facing the Chargers. We will be back with the Odd

him on Twitter at at Vince Goodwill and also the
X nephew. That's X nephew, so proud of him, look
at look at Why are you making me ex nephew?
Then if you're so proud of me, well because I
got divorced. So he is. Vince Goodwill? What's happened up, Vitty.
Let's make this clear. She left. That's not how that
(27:02):
isn't the way it happened. You know, Rob don't care
who tell it. Chris? Alright, all right, Vin, you run
a great column about the Sixers and how Joel Embid
is there. Obviously they're building block for the future, but
Ben Simmons is their most important player in these here playoffs.
Explain what you're talking about. I mean, Chris, I think
(27:23):
the way that to look at it is, you know,
Embiad is certainly the better player, or the more established
player and the more seasoned player. But when you look
at this roster and you got Jimmy Butler, who's gonna
be a free agent, and Tobias Harris who's gonna be
a free agent, and J J. Reddick, And they pressed
a fast forward button on this whole, you know, ridiculous
process that they've you know, go through over the past,
you know, five or six years. They don't really look
(27:45):
like a team. They look like a collection of individuals
and the person who has to put that sort of
cohesion together. So the coach is the point guard. And
not only that because of the position that Ben Simmons plays,
but because of its deficiencies, the fact that he can't shoot,
the fact that he won't shoot, he's a liability out
there if he's not being aggressive. So indeed, is more
(28:07):
or less like the constant you know, Senators of wild Cards.
Video makes sense. Yeah, Ni, let's let's move over to
that Warriors Clippers. I mean, what we expect the Warriors
of course to win the series or whatever, But what
do you what's the takeaway from that collapse thirty one
point collapse. Does it say something about the Warriors or
(28:27):
it just says something about the Clippers and the team,
because all year long we've seen him come back from
huge deficits on the road to win games. What do
you take away from that game? I think what happens
is the Warriors A they get very arrogant, and that's
what happens a lot of times to me with like
champions When you won multiple championships, you know that you
(28:50):
can put on a birth at any time and go
up their team or go up twenty points and basically
running high and usually going up twenty or going up
thirty means that you can sort of rest and start
shutting it down. But you know, like you said, the Clippers,
they just play hard, and they have a certain basketball
character that Doc Rivers is selling them, and they believe
(29:12):
in it, and all other type of stuff like keeps
telling that halftime We're going to win this game. Nobody
actually believes that they were going to win the game,
and sometimes those motivational talk sort of fall on deaf ears.
But when you got this team, and you got a
bunch of hard and scrappy dudes and a team like
Golden State that basically plays in fits and spurts, a
game like that can happen now this weekend, rob if
(29:32):
you go to the Staples Center expecting to see Golden
State go down three one, and they wind up, you know,
beating the brakes off of the Clippers and two straight
games over the weekend. Don't be surprised. Yeah, Chris and
I are going to the game on don't win the
same shoes. We might, We might both as long as
they fresh. We both brought those Jordans, man, we love them.
You saw that on Instagram. Yes, Rob, it's it's amazing
(29:56):
that you've sort of grabbed onto this fetish at sixty
five Vince. Every every three days he's coming in here
with a new pairs bad sometimes that Gucci Louis Vatton Georgian. Yeah,
you know what, Vinnie, My time is running out. I'm
trying to get in all my shop it in. Hey, Vince,
(30:18):
we were having a heated discussion. I call it a discussion, robbing.
I look, I've been a huge defender Russell Westbrook and
he's gonna be iconic and all that holl of Hall
of Famer obviously, but I don't think you can win
a championship with him as your league. Guy. Rob disagrees.
What is your take on that? That wasn't where we
(30:39):
argued though. I'm just less to be honest, we didn't
know what I was arguing. It was a miscommunication. What's
your take on that Vince Russ can't be your best player.
I don't know if Russ can be a second best player.
I don't know if Russ can be on your team
if you're going to be a champion. I just think
there are some guys who take up so much oxygen
(31:01):
in your locker room and they control so much of
your team's personality with their style of play, that you
can't win that way. And I'm a big Russell Westbrook
fan in theory, like he plays hard all game, every game, right,
that's what we ask that. Yeah, yeah, But at the
same time, just because you play hard don't mean you
(31:23):
play smart. And I think you need smart play, especially
out of the point guard spot, especially when you're in
the point guards league, when in terms of you know,
shot recognition and tempo and unselfishness and a genderless basketball.
And I don't think we associate those three things with
Russell Westbrook, especially not at this stage of his career
(31:44):
where his athleticism athleticism is going to decline. He's already
not a good shooter, so I don't hope he's capable
of changing his game in the way that it would
need to change and taking him off the ball to
where somebody else can play with some similar supporter to
the point of being a championship type of team. I
just don't see it happen. My sentiments exactly. Vinnie started
(32:07):
covering the league yesterday and Chris today before. Yeah, we're joined.
This is Vince Goodwill, the Yacht Sports senior NBA writer,
dropping that wisdom on the eye couple. Vinny, what do
you make of the Nets? And as this series it's
one one? Obviously they get the surprise, went on the
road against Philly. Now they're going to Brooklyn for the
next two. Do they have a chance to pull the upside?
(32:29):
I called? I called the Nets in seven before the
series start. Am I crazy? Or I know that you
said seven? I did? You did say seven? Okay? Well
Rob is crazy. But aside from that, like do they
have a chance? I think a lot of things would
have to go right, Like like Rob, I play Spade
right and I feel like the seventy Sixers got Big Joker,
(32:50):
Little Joker and King like they got everything. But the
Sixers may have like the next three or four biggest
face cards on the air, and they may play it better.
They got the better the coach, they play better together.
But I think especially in the first round of the playoffs,
talent wins out, Like Joe Olmbide is the best player,
Jimmy Butler is the best player probably late in games,
(33:11):
and they don't have that. The Brooklyn doesn't have that
playoff experience to be able to take advantage of what
Philly doesn't have. Now, do they have enough to make
it interesting? Are they're gonna be scrappy? Are they going
to basically push Philly to their limits? Absolutely? If they
had one player, one all star, legitimate player aside from
DeAngelo Russell, then Rob I'll be right there with you,
they'd be able to take a bandage everything in Philadelphia lacks.
(33:33):
But I think Philly will not get caught this series.
I think if Philly gets caught, they get caught against
Toronto in the next round. Just because the talent disparity
isn't it's great. I know it would be a great
story round because you're from New York and you're but Nachi.
If that ain't happening, Vince goodwill great stuff man teams.
(33:56):
I'm a reporter, man, if your favorite team of the
New York Mets, I grew up as a Mets fan.
I haven't rooted for the nineteen eighty six Jacksonville Jaguars
for some reason or one of his favorites. Well, because
they've had they had the Patriots down ten in the
fourth quarter in that AFC Championship they win. Can you
(34:17):
can you stake great job, man, keep up, Benny will
see you soon, Bro. All right, I said, Russell Westbrook
will never win the championship, but if things go well,
he could find himself on this list of legends. I'll
explain next. In Bruce Art's Big Six, it's the eye
couple Fox Sports Radio at Farmers Insurance. We know the
(34:41):
sound of a perfect hot air balloon landing and a
Leston perfect one covered it. Doctor Farmers, we are farmers
under written. My farmers took fire insurance exchange and affiliates
products unavailable every state. All right, it's the odd couple
of Chris Bruce Art and Rob Parker, and it is
time for Bruce Ars Big Six. Are you ready the
(35:04):
heat like lacron, We're going big. It's gown. It's Bruce
Ards Big Six. Are you heard the discussion. I love
Russell Westbrook. He's an icon, he's a Hall of Famer,
but I don't think he'll ever win a title. So
that got me to thinking, who are the best six
players in NBA history? Retired players, not current ones to
(35:27):
never win an NBA title? All right? Number six, George
the Iceman Gervin. This was a tough call over John Stockton,
Dominique Wilkins, Steve Nash, and Tracy McGrady, but I had
to go with the ice Man because he led the
league in scoring four times, and even though he never
reached an NBA Finals, he did reach the conference finals
(35:50):
three times, twice losing to the Showtime Lakers of Magic
and Kareem. Number five Patrick Ewing, a top ten center
of all time whose legacy could have been much different
had he been able to will the Knicks of victory
in Game seven of the nineteen ninety four NBA Finals
against Akima La Juan and the Houston Rockets. A Kim
(36:13):
out played you and in that series, but you may
have gone down as a better center if his team
had won. He was always underappreciated in New York because
he failed to deliver the chip. Number four Allen Iverson.
That's right. The answer a lot like Russell Westbrook. He's
an incredible individual, phenom and icon whose style of play
(36:38):
makes it hard to win the championship with him as
your number one guy. As six feet tall, Iverson led
the league in scoring four times, let him in steals
three times, drop fifty or more in the playoffs three times.
Only Michael Jordan and Will Chamberlain have done it more.
Number three el Jin Baylor. All the current above the
(37:00):
Rim High Flyers traced their hoop lineage back to el
Jim Baylor. He led the Lakers to eight rob eight
NBA finals, but never won. Seven times he lost to
Bill Russell and the Boston Celtics. His finals futility, which
Rob might deride, ride him as the vote was not
his fault. He holds the NBA record for most points
(37:21):
scored in the finals game with sixty one. Only Michael Jordan,
with sixty three points in a first round game against Boston,
had scored more points in a playoff game. Number two
Charles Barkley, Sir Charles, don't let the blubber the silliness
that you see now on TNT fool you. Barkley was
(37:42):
a flat out terror on the court. He's my favorite
power forward of all time. He's a one time NBA
MVP who could do could do everything offensively, drive, post, handle,
shoot pretty well pass, plus an incredible off offensive rebounder
like Ewing and the next guy I'm about to mention
(38:04):
he can thank Michael Jordan for his lack of a ring.
Number one call the Mailman Malone. I give him the
edge over Barkley only because of his longevity and because
he was a better defender, the second leading scorer in
NBA history, and a two time MVP. He lost twice
(38:24):
to Jordan in the NBA Finals and a third time
with Shaq, Kobe and Gary Payton to the heavily underdog
Detroit Pistons of two thousand and four. So there you
have it. The six greatest players to never win a ring,
call Malone, Charles Barkley, Elgin Baylor, Alan Iverson, Patrick Ewing,
(38:48):
and George Gervin. That's a heck of a list. What
do you think that's incredible? I left all stocked in.
I lef all some good players, but no, I agree
with that. I think that when you look at some
of those guys and Patrick you and if you remember
that game seven, uh Stark shot yeah, something like two fray.
He was brutal. If he just has a DC a
(39:09):
couple of those because they only lost by six, they
were right there considering that and that that would have changed.
That would have changed a lot, because Patrick was one
of those great players. He really was, you know that.
And he doesn't get I don't think he gets the
credit that he deserves because if people remember Georgetown, the
average like thirteen points in college, and then he became
like a a great shooting big man, great shooting big
(39:33):
for a while these viewed is the best shooting big
man of all time. That mid range jumped, no doubt
about it. We got a couple of guys though, that
could get on that Carmelow, I don't know if he
cracks this deep does he crack that list. If he doesn't,
he's I didn't put him in he's retired. He just
doesn't know it. Yeah, he doesn't know he put him
in there yet. No, but the guys you had on
your list were good, right, I don't know if you
(39:53):
put him above? Question is Girving and karm Loan of
all of them, thought he had one in the bag
when he came to the Lakers, like he thought, oh yeah,
I mean that was not him and Gary Payne because
he had averaged twenty the year before. Remember, thought he
was really good. And Shaq and Kobe had already won
three in a row. Not they didn't win. It that
(40:13):
there was a year that they didn't was it was
won three in a row, then they didn't win. And
then this team put together like it was gonna be
like it was. It wasn't viewed with the negativity of
Miami's Big three, but it was similar, like they're gonna
run through everybody, you know what I mean. And so
now if I'm right about Westbrook, I think I put
(40:35):
Westbrook over Gurvin. I think I would put rest Westbrook
at number six. You could argue above you, I probably
have him number six. The triple doubles could getting hired
a great player was great. I think Westbrook. This is
gonna sound crazy, people, he's I think he's probably better
(40:56):
than Iverson, not quite as much of a score, but
I obviously he does more. Yeah, I don't think that's crazy. Yeah.
I know, An as an icon for a lot of reasons,
and he was a great player at that size. I
remember watching him his first game ever, Chris at Madison
Square Garden and just looking at this guy marveling at
at his speed and the way. I was just like, well,
(41:18):
I've never seen a guy like that, arguably that we've
ever seen on arguably obviously there's been some speed demons,
but uh yeah, so it's gonna be interesting to see
Chris Paul he uh does he end up, you know,
as a guy who doesn't win the championship, this will
be his best shot. We'll see if he can stay
healthy and if the Rockets can do it. All right,
we got two hours left of Chris, Bruce Hard and
(41:40):
Rob Parker. It is the odd couple. Keep it like.
We got plenty coming up for you. Eddie House joining us.
Keep your dial on the Fox. It is the odd couple.
I'm Chris, he's ribbing. We are coming to you live
from the Guy Fix Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could

save you fifteen percent or more in your current urants.
Visit Guycolle dot com for a free rate quote. Great
NBA first round matchup going on right now between Indiana
and Boston. The Pacers are up forty six forty four
with two and a half minutes left in the second quarter,
Kyrie Irving just tied the game with or you missed it,
(42:24):
So they're down to the Boston Celtics. We'll see they
It was a tight game. Indiana was up at the
half of the first game, and then Boston just came
out like gangbusters in the second half. We'll see if
they do it. I like Indiana, man, I just just
just the idea of you lose your star player, and
I'm not saying that the right but they're playing with her,
just playing with hard and just keep playing. Nate McMillan
(42:45):
has done that. It was hard, you know. I voted
for Coach of the Year and Nate McMillan, Kenny Atkinson.
There were some great jobs by guys that I couldn't
put it in my top I had Doc number three.
I had Mike Malone number two, and then Mike Boutenholzer
in Milwaukee number one. Doctors. This is one of his
best coaching jobs. No question is you give him bringing
(43:10):
together the Big Three for the first you know, first
year they win the title. You gotta give him a
lot of props for that. Oh yeah, but I'm outside
of that. This is probably. This is tremendous, and I
was down. I was critical of Doc when he had
Chris Paul and Blade Right and DeAndre Jordan and they
couldn't get past the second round. So he's really done
a fantastic job. All Right, we're gonna stay in the NBA.
(43:31):
In fact, we're gonna stay in LA. All Right, we're
talking about the Clippers, and we're gonna move across the
hall to the team that is not in the playoffs,
but it's still in the news, and that is the
Los Angeles Lakers and their superstar Lebron James. They obviously
are in the middle of a coaching search. They're looking
at Juwan Howard, assistant coach with the Miami Heat who
(43:54):
was a teammate of Lebron's in Miami. They're looking at
Monte Williams, two time head coach once in Poor did
a good job, once in New Orleans, did a solid job. Now,
an assistant with the Philadelphia seventy six ers, also connected
to Lebron in that he was an assistant coach on
Team USA for the Monty had two jobs. I don't
know why. He's a good coach too, I like mine.
(44:17):
Cod also get the he was he was on the
team when a really good, solid guy, you know everybody
just speaks highly, having great reputation around the league. He
could end up, though, if Philadelphia gets embarrassed or even
just beating in the second round. Certainly if they get
beating und even if they get beating the second he
(44:40):
might be gone and Mintie Williams could end up being
the coach there. But the Lakers are looking at him,
and then of course the guy that everybody pretty much
has as a favorite, Tyron Low. My point. First of all, Rob,
we got a lot of points we're both gonna make.
My first thing is the Lakers are doing this backwards,
like you don't have your front office solidified. And what
(45:02):
did you and I say about Luke Walton who's now
gone with Magic Johnson and Rapper League. It was like, look,
he's not their guy, so if it doesn't go perfectly,
they're gonna want to get rid of him. And that
was the case, And that was my argument about about
Jennie buss Is and why Magic felt like betrayed, if
that's the right word, is that I came in, you
(45:24):
gave me the job, I kept your guy. Yep, right,
and most Hyman. Chance gave him a chance. Not only
one year, you wouldn't the car two years. I gave
him two years. I delivered Lebron. We didn't make the playoffs.
Two young guys didn't. Didn't for whatever reason, hold it
the ship steady until Lebron came back for whatever reason. Okay,
(45:48):
So when you say all that Magic was within his
rights to decide, Okay, now it's time and I want
my own guy. Well look, Rob, I mean again, just
continuing to talk to people about this Laker situation. What
happened was Magic thought he was more than a figurehead,
right right, I mean, and and Genie apparently brought him
(46:10):
in as a figurehead. He's the great Magic Like, he's
the greatest Laker of all time. Everybody, not only in
the NBA, pretty much in America loves him. He's got
this great personality. He's Magic Johnson. But Magic went in
like I got the power as he should. He's the president,
and then he's a basketball savin. After he got Lebron,
(46:32):
you have to feel like, Okay, that's that's peace. One.
I told you give me two years, Yeah, I'll get
you two stars, will build this thing and we'll get
a chance to win. Here's the thing, though, Rob and
Magic should have seen this because because we know when
he resigned a week ago, it was because he wanted
to get rid of not only Luke Walton but also
Rob Pelinka. Genie would not let she didn't want him
(46:55):
to get rid of Luke. She wouldn't let him get
rid of Rob Pelinka because of polinkas could election to Kobe.
Magic was like, all right, I don't have any per whatever,
no power. I can be Magic Johnson somewhere else. Right,
And so because it ain't stuck it to Genie right
when he didn't tell you it's your sister. There's all
(47:15):
this love and I'm sure they obviously they have a
great relationship and they'll probably make up down. But to
go ahead and resign without telling her, that's there's no
question there was some hurt feelings and some up anger,
you know what that in that situation, it's like we talked,
just forget it, you know what I mean, Like when
you get to the point where you're soul, just forget.
(47:37):
I'm not I don't want to talk to her. This
is be as you brought me here for this. You're
not letting me do what I want to do. I
took your guy, even though I could have come in
Me and Polinka could have come in and fired them
from jump stright and just said we want to get
our own brain. Certainly, once you got Lebron, they could, right,
they could have easily done that, and they didn't do it.
(47:58):
Whate like he was making the playoffs are he had
developed these young guys, and you could say, look at
what he's done, this is incredible. Ye, he didn't do
any of that, right, we don't have to go too
far to prove show people how they're clearly with some
angst between Magic and Genie at the end, it's me
and you. If you go out and announce you're quitting
(48:22):
the Eye couple right without telling me first, right, you
would be right. You wouldn't do that unless we had beef. Right,
there's nothing right if you would way ahead of time, right,
there's no way you do that. So that that's just
is what it is. But Magic could have known. Look,
he didn't hire Rob Perlinka, right, Magic was president told
(48:43):
they brought in Rob Perlinka, So that should have told
you right there. He could have nipped it in the butt.
And saying, look, no, I'm my own gil. Let me
let me do something. I know that's that. But this
is where we went about Genie, about the mom and
pop thing. Everybody's connected to somebody. It's hard ordered to
get rid of people. You're gonna upset Kobe if you
let his guy go. You're gonna upset this guy. If
(49:06):
you let his you're gonna Phil Jackson. She probably still
has feelings for Phil, and Luke was his guy, and
all this so right, I mean right, so you got
all these kinds of things and then this, let me
give you this, so so people, some people thought he
was safe Luke Luke after Magic quit. But but then
I heard this Chris and from reliable people, okay, reliable
(49:28):
NBA people, and they just said that Luke thought he
was going to deliver Bob Myers, right, is that his
name the Golden State Warriors. Yeah, that that was supposedly
out there, that he was going to deliver this guy.
(49:49):
And then they said basically thanks, but uh no thanks.
And then so the Lakers wouldn't didn't want by mine, right,
and it's basically, guy, this, let me just read this.
I know for a fact that Luke was going to
hand deliver Bob Myers to the Lakers. Lakers ownership said no,
(50:11):
So Luke wanted out. That's when he That's when you know,
it looked like he was safe because magic. Then it
was like nope. And and that might be with the
klinka thing. That's an interesting thing. Yeah, yeah, because that's Tolinka.
But that's what work together right right, see what I'm saying.
So yeah, I just my only thing I have a
(50:32):
problem with on that is Luke Walton being able to
hand deliver by. That's the only thing. I don't know
if he had a relationship with the relationship because I
was coaching Gold you know what, I got relationship, But
would he have been able to like you said, hey,
like I said, and deliver Myers. I don't know, but
that's what I'm saying like that. Here, Look, if I'm
(50:53):
the Lakers, first of all, I would love to get
by Myers right number one. But I wouldn't like it
attached to Luke Walton like Luke had to go. And
you know me, I said, I don't think Luke was
the problem, the biggest problem, and I don't think he's
a bad coach. And I'm not the least bit surprised
that he landed on his feet and got another job.
(51:13):
But he wasn't the coach for this team. It was
just too much bad blood, bad history. Your main guy,
Lebron wasn't a full time believer anything like he had
to go. So this is the question I want to
throw out to you, Rob should the next Zach Low
of ESPN said on a podcast that some agent and
(51:33):
doesn't want that. He doesn't feel like you know players,
his players at least don't want the new head coach
to be too hand tied, too tied to Lebron. They
don't want clutch Rich Paul the agent running the franchise.
Here's the question I'm gonna throw out to you. Do
you how much say should the Lakers give Lebron in
(51:55):
their new hires, whether it's the front office and the coach.
I think they have to cater to Lebron as much
as possible, only from this standpoint if they can't get
any free agents to come. And he's kind of stuck right,
he can't get a d because the young kids that
they want to trade now some got injury issues, question marks.
(52:18):
Now they're not the rock solid like stars that potential
stars were like DeAngelo Russell wound up going somewhere else
and becoming an All Star. I'm not convinced that those
guys are that because of the injuries. So you can't
afford to have a disgruntled Lebron James aging for three
(52:39):
years here feeling like they went against me. You remember when?
Do you know what I mean? Like when they could?
I don't, I don't know. I just their a year.
I don't think they have the guts too really, And
another part is I'm not so sure that teams around
NBA America are looking at you gonna get him right?
(53:01):
Well you get well. At this point, I agree with
what you said. Outside of do everything possible to cater
to Lebron, I certainly would talk with him, get his feel,
and hire somebody he feels good about. I would not
give him control of the franchise, and even you know,
obviously wouldn't be in a formal way, but even informally so,
(53:23):
I would like to bring in a front office guy
who Lebron respects but isn't necessarily tied to him. And
I would want to bring in a head coach that
he does get along with. And the three I mean, look,
they're doing it right, the three that they're interviewing. I
don't think Jawan should get it just because you don't
want a rookie coach. I just don't see that ship
(53:44):
or bust. I don't see that. Not an agent Lebron James.
He ain't got five years to exactly, so you I
think you bring in Tye Luke should be the first choice.
Then Monty Williams, who would be a good coach as well.
You could bring him in, But you got to bring
in a coach that is gonna have the respect and
the affect a good relationship with Lebron James. We saw
(54:06):
how Lebron which fonded to Luke, who they didn't. He
didn't relick with you. You have and look we're not.
It's not the worst thing in the world to be
tethered to Lebron James. I mean, my goodness, the dude, No,
I went to eighth straight finals, and I know, I
don't even know if you're poopoo it in this context, Rob,
(54:26):
but they were the four seat. I mean, they were
playing well even with this young, disjointed, non shooting roster
when he got hurt. Like everybody acts like, well, if
you trade Lebron, you're going young and Starlar. That's no guarantee. Philadelphia,
they're the poster child for the process, but they got
their issues. First of all, they botched it on two
(54:48):
of the pics new Lands Noel and jelil Oka for
and now Joel Mbiad's got injury problems and he's missed
more than half the games he's been, you know eligible
for Ben Simmons is maybe not the superstar we all projected.
So you know, going young is no guarantee. Went young?
How'd that? How'd that work for him before Lebron went there?
(55:10):
So try to build around Lebron if you can't bring it.
Athony Davis, I think they still could be pretty good
if they add some shooters to this core, especially if
Golden stuff breaks up. But being good isn't really what
people But I'm just saying, if you're a Laker fan,
it's not like, Okay, if you make the playoffs that
that would be cool, and most thought they would. But
(55:31):
if you tell me, like the next couple of years,
it's just they make the playoffs, get knocked out in
the first or second round. People are gonna be like
this wand up not being well. But I'm saying this,
if let's say, if Kevin Durant leaves Golden State and
Lebron James is healthy next year, and you bring back
the same core, meaning Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzmlonzo Ball and
(55:52):
a few of the other guys, and you add some shooters.
You add a Marcus Morris for who's a free agent
out of Boston who can shoot in his tough you know,
a few nine descript shooters besides him. Dude, can they
not play with just about anybody in the West? I mean, okay,
see Denver, Portland. You know, if they won't be what
(56:15):
they are, well play with them Houston. I mean, I'm
just saying, if they're one of those teams in the hunt,
that's all the brothers saying. All right, you're turning away
in should the Lakers cater their next coaching hire to

my church. Yeah, the church I go to. How much

away in should the Lakers kater little Brian and these
new hires they have front office and coach and start
with Tony in Washington, DC? Tony, what's happening? What's going on?
Fellas are you? Man? I'm all right, second time caller. Look,
(59:10):
I'm gonna get to the point, my man. Rob you've
been on fire the last couple which you've been killing Chris.
That's right. Don't let me see you in DC. Let
me go ahead, Tony. I'm at a point now. If
I squint hard enough, you sawing it look like Nick Wright.
This is how bad your love for Lebron's getting mad.
(59:32):
Let's let me tell you something. The Lakers need to
hire somebody that can develop Kuzma, Ingram and especially Lonzo
ball because they're at crossroads and their careers even it's
earning their careers. Why can't Tyl. No, Lebron's gonna have
to fit in because Tylu can't do it. Because Lebron
(59:54):
knows he has sues him. They need fresh blood, not
a retread. That's why Lebron go to Philly because he
knew Simmons would be the primary ball handler and Brett
Brown wasn't gonna put in the system for him. Lebrons
is so clean. Go plats of all time right along,
so you can see any system and a death. Let's
(01:00:18):
keep killing them wrong, keep killing them. You know, Tony
block Tony from block Tony anytime, Brother, I could take it.
I could take it to Ryan and Texas. Ryan, you're
with the odd couple heym, Yes, it's all you, babe,
long time fans both for y'all. But that last caller
(01:00:40):
is totally off killing Rocky Ron. What's trying to kill you?
What did you just get a text from Chris? You
related to Chris? My stuff? Now again to the point
you don't wanna, you don't wanna, you know, get Lebron
his way, his best. The best players have a coach
(01:01:03):
that they've been to. Kobe Halffield, he bent to the triangle.
Jordan Halffield been to the triangle right, Tim Duncan half Popovich,
he been to Tim Dumpton to the average thirty a game.
You know that? So you Ron? I think Rob and
I are both with you in Syrie. Here's the problem.
(01:01:24):
Lebron's in his seventeenth year. When Jordan been to Phil Jackson,
he was in his fifth year, Kobe was young, Duncan
half Hoopovitch. From the beginning, they agree, like I've said,
Lebron does need to get off the ball and play
in a system. But but at this point is he
changing seventeenth years? But you know what, that's why the
old saying you can't teach an old dog new trench
(01:01:46):
because it's hard for people who are setting their ways.
And he's half successful. You're gonna tell me. I went
to the finals eight time, nine times. You're gonna tell
me what to do. So that's where the problem comes in.
Ron would appreciate the car. Thanks for calling. What about
j C in Texas? You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? J C? What's up? Brothers
(01:02:07):
are pretty good? Uh? Just uh, Chris you you've been
burning Rob. He's very brass, but Chris is very intelligent,
very specific on details. And and Rob, thank you for
making Thank you for making me that day about the
story you you published in Detroit asking the offensive coordinator
(01:02:28):
and stuff. You made me laugh on that one. That
was that's your best question ever answered the prom You
made my day that way. But get to the point
to be honest. Um, Yes, Lebron, you cannot teach old
old dog new tricks, right. But I do say this, Uh,
if they do get a GM or uh, a president
(01:02:54):
of operations, right or a new coach, maybe they should
do ask Lebron for the guidance and stuff. The man
has been to eight eight straight championships, he's won three.
I wouldn't think you need to ask his opinion. I
don't want. I don't turn in the franchise over to him,
but I am. And you gotta be careful. And it's
the other problem. JAC appreciate the call. You can't just
(01:03:16):
turn it over because he could be like, I'll destroy
and do whatever I can to make me feel good.
You know what I mean, to make my situation better.
That doesn't mean once he's done in three years, he
leads the franchise and ruins. I can't give up everything
to pacify Lebron. Do you know what I'm saying? I
agree from from that standpoint. No, I don't think you
should give a player control. No, not like that. But
(01:03:38):
because you're doing it, we could squeeze one more in Yeah,
Joseph in Indiana Christ and Robby Man. I don't think
the Lakers should turn over the coperation to Lebron because
because it's at franchise, right, they won with They won
(01:03:59):
with Erry West, Kobe Ryant a Keen Whiles you on
Magic Johnson team play Kareem go ahead? Yeah, yeah, part
of me for that. But this this this Lakers team.
(01:04:19):
If Lebron gets what he wants, the Laker Frank will
never brace an Tiller once retires, They'll have nothing. The
Lakers will be a last stock of the NBA like
the New York Nick car all right, I appreciate the call,
Joseph car Brother, all Right, would the Lakers be making
a mistake if they hire a quote unquote Lebron guy
(01:04:40):
as their next head coach? NBA champion and former Lebron
teammate Eddie House has the answer. Next, but first, let's
bring in Def Carson for the latest Spinsmore's dead. Alrighty, guys.
We're gonna start off with the NFL announcing its complete
schedule for the upcoming season. That kicks off, of course,
Thursday night, September fifth, with the Bears hosting the Packers
at eight twenty eastern. Knew about that matchup, but this
(01:05:02):
is going to be the one hundred ninety ninth time
the two teams have played. Green Bay holds a two
game edge in that series. The Super Bowl champion Patriots
will begin their title defense in prime time, hosting the
Steelers Sunday night, September eighth at eight twenty eastern. Among
the other Week one matchups of note, MVP Patrick Mahomes
and the Chiefs will visit the Jaguars and their new
(01:05:22):
quarterback Nick Foles Sunday at one Eastern. Have a pair
of Monday night matchups. The early game kicks off at
seven Eastern with Drew Brees and the Saints hosting Deshaun Watson,
JJ Watton the Texans, and then the nightcap kicks at
ten Eastern as John Gruden's offense with new Raiders acquisition
Antonio Brown hosts Joe Flacco and the Broncos. So we
(01:05:44):
will keep you posted on that, obviously, and look forward
to a fabulous NFL season coming up. A Florida judge
temporarily blocked the release of video evidence in the solicitation
of prostitution case against Patriots owner Robert Kraffin next hearing
on the matter is going to take place April twenty ninth.

have two NBA playoff games currently underway. Eastern Conference matchup
taking place in Boston and it's a sixty two fifty
eight lead right now for the Pacers over the Celtics
with eight to go in the third quarter. The other
matchup is the Pistons and Bucks in Milwaukee. Bucks are
(01:06:25):
up thirty one twenty with four to go in the
first also have two games underway on the ice in
the East, Bruins taking on the Maple Leafs. Boston is
up four to two with six to go in the
second period. Stars are out to a two nothing lead
over the Predators with twelve to go in the purse period.
There in Dallas, we will be back with the odd
couple in ten seconds. But first a word from farmers

Were bringing in our man, as we do every week.
He's the FS one NBA analyst was in here last
(01:07:27):
week for an hour with us. It was great, and
he's an NBA champion. Mister Eddie House, what's up, bro?
What's up at going all fellas? What's happening? You got
me in the middle of count may a college fund?
So I'm putting it in my pocket. Yeah, I tucked
that away. Man cut that a work, dropped it like
Doc didn't know you ain't got two thousand dot I
got two thousan doct dropped two thousand two grand Widen singles.
(01:07:52):
That was light work, right, was light work for him though? Right?
He was like, I just dropped to that like whoever,
Like really, okay, you think it on us a little
bit though? That's what he did, yeah right, he put
it out. It's like Russell Wilson being in the bad
you know, after he got his deal with this woman there.
I mean, you're gonna rub it in our face when
you know you the man? All right, Russell Wilson is
(01:08:13):
living the life right, oh man? You know what? He
deserves that though, because he do all you know what,
as much as he as well as he plays, it
looks like he's that same type. As much as he
puts into the game, he's putting that into his woman too. Man.
So you know, I got to salute that man, and
you salute a beautiful black couple. You feel gay? I
feel you. I feel you on that. That's what it's
(01:08:35):
just saying about me. When I first got married and
then you know five years did you have did you
had when you got married? The first time you had
your corn rolls in? Don't think I did you see that?
Did you see my corn rolls? I've seen that kind
of looked like it was was that all your hair?
Did you get some help? No, that's my hair. I
let it grow out. I let it girl. I'm gonna
send you the picture me with the afro right before
they braided it. Oh yeah, need I need that? That's
(01:08:58):
what you need, all right, Eddie. Let's let's get to
the NBA. And we were just talking about the Lakers,
and number one, we think they're doing this thing backwards.
You're you're hiring your coach before you fill out your
front off right, the president or the assistant GM whoever's
gonna be under ribbed or Polinka or above him whatever.
But how do you feel about there are some people
(01:09:19):
that think they shouldn't hire a coach with ties to
Lebron because that'll signify that Lebron has too much control
in the franchise. What's your take? Well, duh, he got
control in the franchise. He came over there. Anyway, He's
the main He's the main piece of your puzzle, right,
so you're building around him, you better get somebody that
(01:09:39):
he's we already seen this before. If he is not
liking what's going on, he'll check out, period. He like,
he'll let you know. I don't like it, y'all not
moving in the right direction. I'm not about to be
a part of this, Like that I'm still gonna come
out and do my thing, but I really ain't feeling y'all.
I'm gonna let everybody's gonna be able to see it
through my body language. So with with that being said,
(01:09:59):
you gotta if you're gonna build around it. And now
if you have zero plans and saying, hey man, we
might trade him, you know, if you're thinking that, then
you have to make an organizational decision, not a decision
with anything that has to cater to him. But if
if you're really trying to do this, like hey, he
came in and we're trying to build around him, that's
what we said we're gonna do, you definitely have to
have his input and and it should be somebody that
(01:10:21):
he trusts, because if not, we see what happened with
Louke Walton Eddy. What a what a big win for
Denver last night. They looked like they were about to
get run out of the building. They were on the ropes.
This season was about to be over, losing the first
two playoff games at home where they dominated all year.
What'd you make of that win and the comeback it was?
(01:10:42):
It was a hell of a comeback in Jamal murder way.
He bawled out. And the trust of the coach him
and the faith that they showed him to him, and
the and the confidence of other players had in him.
That was huge. That was who huge. But what else
they supposed to do is either think or swim, you know,
and they had they had to come out, and it
was they lost that game a series over. You could
(01:11:02):
basically say that series or if they lose that game
because you go to San Antonio. It's hard to win
a game in San Antonio in the regular season, let
alone the playoffs. Okay, so if they go, if they
go down old two, they know it was it was
almost an impossible battle for them to win. Andy I
picked Oklahoma City to get to the conference finals, and
obviously he tried to tell him, and who else do we? Uh?
(01:11:24):
Antonio Antonio Daniels, I tried to tell both of them.
Daniels did the same thing. Obviously they're in danger of
going home early. What's your take on what's going on
with the Portland series? Okay, so they got no shooters.
I don't care how you slice it. You Dame Lillard
got nine three in this series. The Oklahoma City Thunder
(01:11:45):
half ten right, Okay, there's no way you're gonna win
a game with that happened, because you aim factoring CJ. McCullum.
You're not factoring a Evan Turner. You're not even adding
anybody Else's make it three. We're just talking about one
person and the way the game is now, we know
how huge the three is. And Dame has been taking
advantage of the pick and roll guy's not guarding him deep.
He has that range and he's been putting, putting Russ
(01:12:07):
to sleep, and also the guys who've been in the
picking role. Um. I think Dame has been masterful, I think,
and he has gone to another level. Look, I'm a
big west of Westbrook fan. I think he's better than
Westbrook now at this point. Like his shooting range is ridiculous.
That's what makes him better than Russ is because he
can stretch you and shoot you. Now, when he can
(01:12:29):
shoot from so far, look how much the defense stretch
out and it's so much. He coming downhill, He's a
finisher at the rim. He's a great passer right now
at this particular moment in this series, Dame is getting
the better of Russ right now, and but it's not
that one on one match up. It's I think the
Portland Trail Blazers as a whole is just totally getting
(01:12:51):
the best of Okay, see the okay ce role players
ain't showing up. The three guys in uh that that
are did you could depend on at least give you
something or doing it. Stephen Adams, Russell, Will Russell Westbrook,
excuse me, and Paul George. Everybody else's twos and fuse
and it's I get twos and fuse from you one
game and don't get nothing from you the next game.
So they're gonna have to figure out what they're gonna
(01:13:13):
do with the role players and the bench players. Until
they figure that out, it's gonna be tough, tough flating
for him, especially with the way that Portlands shooting the ball.
I mean, they guards having their way right now. CHRISTI
couple joined by NBA champion Eddie House Sunday Eddie Here
in Los Angeles, Game three, Warriors and Clippers. Where do
you see this series going? I don't can the Clippers
(01:13:35):
win another one? They got the juice after that historic
comeback or was that just one of those things where
you know they got their win and It's probably gonna
be the end of the story and the Warriors will
win the next three and it's all over. Or is
this a series. Well, i'll tell you what. I don't
think that. And if this happened, this would be a catastrophe.
This will be on the level of Lebron in the
(01:13:56):
finals not being aggressive. If Kevin Durant only take three shots,
thank you, then it's gonna be a problem for Golden State.
I don't care how he has to say, Hey, give
me the make up, man, I don't care what you
gotta do. Tell getting the ball. And I think this
is a byproduct of also Golden State now having a
pure point guard and say, hey, let's slow this thing down.
Hey kg get get your comfort zone, let's get there,
(01:14:18):
let's everybody play off him. I think they have that
free flowing offensive where nobody's really the true point guard,
like that your traditional set it up, float things down,
control the pace. That's where that came into play. But
then also I think some coaching came into play where
Steve Kurse sometimes gets so comfortable and believe in this
guy so much to the detriment of the team, because hey,
(01:14:40):
I gotta get get ahold of these reins again and
say hey, we need to do something. I think he
needs to well at that game. In that game, Michael
will manage it a little bit more, catering it towards
Kevin Durant. Getting him the basketball, not where it's just
stand still everybody's locking loaded, Get some misdirection, Get him
on the move to where bodies are moving. When he
catches it, he has an opportunity to get a quick
one on want player against a very smaller player. Everything
(01:15:02):
they were doing with too vanilla. All right, appreciate you man.
And in that game too, the Warriors were so sloppy.
I think, Uh, the Clippers score twenty nine points off turnovers.
It was when they are slop forever. Ye that's slot,
that's their one achilles here. You think they're gonna miss
I know, emotionally they all like Boogie and you know
(01:15:24):
we all pulling for him. It's unfortunate side of that
great with those injuries. But on the court, do you
think it's a huge breaker, like championship breaker? Let me
think without him that team last year, I don't think so, right,
That's what I'm It's not a slight on Boogie, but No,
it's kind of like they get it. They get it
(01:15:45):
already without him three times with him times. All right, Eddie, great,
appreciate appreciate it. You gotta take care. Yeah, all right.
Rod Parker can't wait to see Robert Craft's massage tape.
And he'll tell us why next and be honest what
(01:16:06):
it's like to me? This will be like the Kim
Kardashian tape you missed. I was saying, you watch. It's
the chance for the It's the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio at Farmer's Insurance. We know the sound of
a perfect hot air balloon landing and a less than
perfect one. She covered it to farmers. We are under written.
(01:16:31):
My farmers took fire insurance exchanges and affiliates pducts unavailable
in every state. All right, it's the eye couple of
Chris Brussar and Rob Parker. What's that I'm passing around
a collection plate right now? On worship up. That's right,
all right, Rob, you've been waiting for this moment. You've
been waiting to talk about this all show. So here's
(01:16:53):
the deal. Right, initially it was released, it was said
that today going to release, they're gonna have to release
the video of Robert Craft at the massage parlor in Florida,
but the judge blocked it temporarily, right, temporarily blocked it.
But I bet you'll be unblocked because aren't aren't like
(01:17:15):
media outlet's ask it for I think so, yes, because
they say they're gonna, yeah, they gotta release it. That's
why I said, have to release it. That has to
be the thing. Here's what I think. I think Robert Craft. Now,
maybe it gets released anyway, but we all know Robert
Craft's guilty of this, and his only defense is to
(01:17:38):
not let him release the tapes because if you don't
release the tapes, then you can still have questions in
people's minds. I just think he needs to come out
and admit it and move on. Police should have taken
a plea and just moved on. Well, he ain't gonna
do that because he has money and he doesn't want
to be embarrassed, and he's gonna try to get a
(01:18:00):
the cality. You know, that's why people go through all
these things to see if something happens, the judge and jury,
you know, they could be all kinds of technicality, could
plead though, would the tape come out. I mean maybe
it sneaks out someway, but you know what I mean,
like legally, if he just played would it, would it
be a done deal? And when nobody's worried about it.
I think it's a Freedom of Information Act that newspapers
(01:18:23):
and news organizations can can look at. This is public
you know this is a public information? Is it public information? Yes?
A business? Yeah, you violated a law. The way they
show the way that they show when the guy robs
the liquor store the video, right, don't say that's what
that's what they get there. That's exactly what it is.
(01:18:44):
You would say, why is that anybody's business rather than
my court case and whatever that's on television. Have you
seen this guy? Look at the he robbed the liquor store. Okay,
So that's why Bob Craft is no different. Become see it.
I just want to see what went on. I want
to see how this billionaire gets down. I mean, what
(01:19:10):
is it with the golden girl? What are you trying
to pay some propose things? I'm wondering. I don't want
to see it now. I want him to be justice
to be served, But I'm like, if he pleads guilty
and does whatever he has to do restitution wise, I'm
not concerned about no videotape. Hey, rob g be close
(01:19:30):
to the dump button because I want to say something.
Don't say nothing crazy. You've been known to do that.
Do not say anything crazy. It could be the couple.
But I'm just saying, if I was involved, where are
you going? Should I just start talking now? Because you're
gonna get yourself in trouble. He's leaving. You're going to
(01:19:54):
the restroom, all right? Anyway, that's my feeling. I look,
Robert Kraf, I don't agree with what he's doing, but
as long as it's not attached to sex trafficking, that
would be a tremendous crime and he should be incredibly
punished for that. Loses team the whole nine yards. But
(01:20:15):
as long as it's not attached to sex trafficking, then
plead guilty. We know you did it. Otherwise, if there's
nothing on the tape, if you're just getting a regular
massage on the tape, but you get care if it's
out there. The problem is massage doesn't take Massage doesn't
take fifteen minutes. And that's the problem. Even if he
(01:20:36):
wanted there and try to say I got a massage
or what. No, no, no, And he from the time
he got it, got to the parking lot and then
went into the building, got back in his car with
he got out in fifteen minutes. Come on, So there
wasn't a massage going on. I just wonder, if you know,
if I was in that situation, depending on what was
(01:20:56):
out there, if I would want Mike to tape out
like a lot of people have made a lot of money.
I'm just being careful, robed Gez. Really, men, I didn't
say anything. I think we should see the tape. And
I'm gonna tell you, why did we not see Ray
Righteous tape? TMZ got that, I know, but but they
(01:21:17):
got it. We saw it. All I know is I
keep seeing on the news all the time Kareem Hunt's tape.
We saw that, did we said? TMZ again, ain't paid
for those tapes? TMZ does. Yeah, So why, I mean,
why have they've been able to get this tape? Because
there's always somebody who works in the tape room or whatever.
(01:21:39):
That's what I'm saying side, So why haven't they been
able to get this one? Those tapes were leaked? I mean,
I'm just saying, like I just I don't care about
the tape when I know he's guilty. Look at you,
you're like a little seventh grader right now. You got
(01:21:59):
some man lives in your in your backpack. You wouldn't
do that. During the break, I got a couple of
juice boxes though. And the bottom line is he needs
to be he needs to be embarrassed. We need to
see what he did and have the NFL come down
on him the way that they come down on the players.
That's all I'm saying. Treat him like they treat everybody.
He should be treated differently. It should be a higher
(01:22:22):

It is the Eye couple. I'm Chris and he is Ribbed,

and we're coming to you live from the Guecoe Fox

of more in your car insurance. Visit geco dot com
for a free rate quote. We got a barn burner
going on in the Boston in Boston where the Indiana
Pacers holding eighty two eighty one lead over the Celtics
(01:23:05):
in Game two. There's about seven minutes left to play
six and a half. Kyrie Irving's got thirty one points
and is lighting it up. He just hit the three
to pull the Celtics within one. They were down by
I believe double figures. He just drove and smissed the
lamb contested. But what a game, what a series this
is turning out to be. And I'll tell you what
(01:23:26):
if Indiana pulls this went out, Uh, then you really
got an interesting series. I wanted to say two. Milwaukee's
up forty five, forty three in that game, right, getting
him some credit. And the Yankees Red Sox game, Brett
Garner just hit a Grand Slam home run. Ah. The
Yankees are now leading five to three. They were down
(01:23:47):
by two. Ye, he hits the grand Slam. Uh, they're
up and it's in the bottom of the seventh inning
in the Bronx. So a nice night, A lot of
good starts for you. And now also there's a Utah
Houston coming up tonight. But right now you got Chris
and Rob and the iye couple and we were talking
about Russell Westbrook. We let off the show with you know,
(01:24:08):
I've I've defended Westbrook against Colin Cowherd. I think what
he's done these last three season, I mean, look, his
whole career has been great, but what he's done these
last three seasons, averaging a triple double, he is going
to be iconic. Like Oscar Robertson, rob who you know,
just a straight up legend in basketball one one championship
(01:24:31):
with Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Milwaukee was lou Al Sinder
at that time Jabbar. But when people mentioned Oscar Robertson,
what was the first thing that comes to a person's mind?
Triple double? Right, every whether it was you were talking
to Hugh by Brown or a young player in the
league today, the first thing out of anybody's mouth was
(01:24:54):
he to illustrate how great he was. He averaged a
triple double before whole season, the only player to ever
do it. We never thought we'd see it done. So
for Russell Westbrook to do it for three straight years
is incredible and he's going to be an icon because
of it, and deservedly so. But all that said, I
(01:25:15):
don't believe that the style he plays one hundred and
ten miles an hour for forty eight minutes, plays minute
forty seven like he plays minute seventeen. I don't think
he recognized his time and score the greatest, like make
smart decisions as a point guard. I feel like, as
if he's your team leader, your number one guy, You're
(01:25:38):
not gonna win a championship. That's my view, And it
was an interesting story today, rob about in the Daily News. Now,
I've been told Philadelphia seventy six ers have shot it
down all day. I've been told by somebody close to
the situation that it's not true. But longtime NBA writer
(01:26:03):
Chris Sheridan wrote it in the New York Daily News
that the Philadelphia seventy sixers considered trading Ben Simmons, that
Elton Brand, the GM in Philadelphia during the regular season,
wants to trade, wanted to trade Ben Simmons, went to
ownership about it and was told in no uncertain terms,
(01:26:28):
no way, that Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are untouchable,
and according to the story, Brand felt like, look Simmons
is a can't shoot, so he's a regular season performer
who gets exploited in the playoffs. So what look, your
(01:26:48):
pick was Brooklyn over Philadelphia in this first round. Let's
say you end up being right right, If you're Philadelphia,
would you consider trading Ben Simmons uh or would you
trade him? Well, everything would be open. I would have
to take a look at the team. If we couldn't
even get out of the first round of the playoffs
(01:27:08):
with the star laden team that we have, what, there's
something wrong. There's a chemistry issue, there's a there's maybe
we don't have the right player, do you know what
I mean? There's something that's not right. I couldn't expect
to come back with the same squad and think that
we're gonna get different results, because ain't no way they
should not win in the first round, right right? Right?
(01:27:29):
I mean they got Arguably that's what I'm the most
talented starting five in the league after Golden State, and
what what what I would start with is Brett Brown.
If they lose this series to Brooklyn, sure, then you
need to always start with the coach, right, there's no doubt,
And then I would look and look at the pieces
to say what can I do? What's available? You know
(01:27:51):
what I mean? Right? I need to shake the roster up.
Why did we lose? Okay, the coach is going to
be the fall guy, but is that really the reason
or was it a chemistry problem or one of them?
We got a weak link? Who's the weak link? Maybe
we can upgrade at that point guard spot right? Well,
and look, I want it if I'm Philadelphia, I want
(01:28:14):
dearly to keep Ben Simmons and Joe LMB together. I
know there's talk of and I've talked to people and
there's been reports about tension between them. Tensions, Okay, as
long as they don't just hate each other. They both
want to be the man. There's a lot of great
players and teams have had nothing money. If you ever
found out the behind the scene stories on some of
(01:28:35):
the stuff, you wouldn't believe that they want anything. Am
I right? Right? No question? So they could they'll be
fine together. But Ben, I mean, obviously you're sitting down
and you're saying, look, not you gotta work on your shooting.
You assigned him a darned shooting coach, and you make
(01:28:56):
sure that he works on that shot day in and
day out. And he was great in Game two. His
aggressive and I was hard on him after game one, like, dude,
this is ridiculous becoming a liability on offense. But game
two he came out and was aggressive. If they're not
gonna guard you, then you gotta free lane three, driving
(01:29:18):
lane to the paint every time down And he took
it in game two and that can override his lack
of a jump shot. So if he keeps doing that,
he can be fine, and over time he can develop
a jay. So my number one thing will be to
keep those two together. No, that's the ideal thing that
you would want, right, and I agree with you. It
(01:29:38):
would be hard for me to look at that. You
went through all those trials and tribulations, all those losses
to be able to get those guys, and then you're
gonna break it up, right, I didn't know this in
in this game, it's a sixteen old run by Boston.
You know that. No, so they were down twelve, now
they're up eighty six, eighty two. It's a sixteen old run.
(01:30:02):
That's that's huge. I mean, they looked bad in the
first half of game one, could be nineteen if you
make and then they they played great in the second half.
And this is the type of loss. Now I know Indiana,
they'll go home for Game three. Being at home will
rejuvenate them. But if you lose this game, and look,
they're overmatch, especially without all the deep up. But to
(01:30:24):
be that, but to give up sixteen straight and that's deflating.
But yeah, Philadelphia, I mean, look, I will this is
one thing I'll say. Rob. I don't think it would
it would amount to anything. But if I'm Philadelphia, I
(01:30:46):
make the call. Well, you know what, maybe not. I
was gonna say, I make the call to the Lakers
to see if they'll give me Lebron for Ben Simmons
and Toots else. But here's the problem with that. Lebron
doesn't want to be He wants to be in La
if you want to. And and Lebron and Ben Simmons
(01:31:09):
are represented by the same agent, so they would know
you tried to trade Ben Simmons. And I would leave
it alone, right because chances are you're not getting him anyway.
So but look, you you you try Ben Simmons. Here's
the thing, he's only in the second year. Jason Kidd
couldn't shoot in his second year, and he developed into
(01:31:32):
a very good three point shooter toward the end of
his career. You don't want it to take that long.
It can't take that long from no, No, you don't
have that luxury and you don't have that window. Right.
And when Jason Kidd played, the three pointer wasn't as
big of a part of the And the other thing
is Jason Kidd also played for four or five teams. Yeah,
his career. I mean he was good. He had you know,
(01:31:54):
he was good. He was co rookingt the year with
Grant Hill, right, but he wasn't first several years he wasn't.
It was when he went to the turned him around
and the way people saw him yep, because they went
to back. Now, they didn't do anything in the finals,
but they went to back to back yep, and Jason
Kidd was the leader. He was a driving for YEP.
(01:32:15):
I think I should have been MVP one year, the
year Duncan got it over him. But yeah, so you're right,
and uh, Philadelphia, there they're in the heck of a series.
And I think you're gonna be wrong Rob with your
prediction of Brooklyn take I'll see what happens in Game
three in Brooklyn. I don't tell me a lot about
that team, but I said it would take seven and
(01:32:38):
if Brooklyn can somehow win that game in Brooklyn Game three,
you know they're not. It's interesting, Yeah, it's interesting, It
really is. Yeah. And uh, you know you got they
gotta get Tobias Harris involved in Philadelphia obviously, Jimmy Butler,
he only has seven points in game two, but they won,
so we'll see. That's a heck of a series, one
(01:33:01):
of many. And now Indiana is within a point, finally
made it three to finally get some point. Eighty six,
eighty five, three and three minutes left? Is that the
six six points in the fourth quarter? That's choked down
this game? It's not over still three and app three
minutes to go? All right, are you NBA fans out there,
you'll turn the way in eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine six sixty three

the Sixers consider moving on from Ben Simmons, We will

He threw the ball out of bounds. I'm ribed just
out of control. He's just Rob Parker. When you see
the replay, you'll know what I'm talking about. Boston up
(01:34:33):
ninety four ninety one, the Indian and the Pacers are
falling apart. At the end, they take West, Matthews takes
a bad three with thirty seconds left there up by
a point, and now he just throws the ball straight
out of bounds on an inbound play. They're imploding and
that's why they are likely to be down to Oh

Let's go to the callers A seven seven ninety nine
on Fox A seven seven nine nine six set Buddy,
Let's start with Sam in Seattle. Let's do it. What
(01:35:45):
are you talking about? You? Yeah, let's go Sam in
Seattle with Chris and Rob. What's happening? Man? Hey? I
got a couple of comments on Ben Simmons and something
about twenty years Daniel, Ben Simmons, Freedom, get rid of them,
Bendom in the Phoenix, get that picks, get jam. You
got a point guard who can pass and for fencies
can't make a shot that's eight seat and he's one
(01:36:10):
of the genders or Kardaccians. That's ruining everyone. Anytime you
date one of them, your career goes down too. But
they broke up, didn't they. They just broke up on
Now they're gonna come back, you know how it is summertime.
You know what, Sam? That look if I could get
John Morant, who right, that's it? I mean Ben looked
as as meant as much as he leaves to be desired,
(01:36:33):
he still is a very good player. I don't know
that he should have been an All Star, but he
made the All Star team. Yeah, I mean we're but
jis intriguing, and we're not sure if John's gonna be
that's the only thing. We don't know. If John's gonna
translate to be a star, we don't know. But that's
something you might think about. They saved money. Yeah, he's
(01:36:56):
gonna try to ask for a lot of money trying
to win now. Man said it's a different NBA. Sam,
what was y'all the quick point? You gotta do it
really quick. He said something about Kyle Lowry carry players
that he's he's been great in the playoffs, or some
comments that dude needs to check his stats. He definitely
hasn't been great playoffs. No, no, no, can't do nothing.
(01:37:19):
They got swept. Thanks Sam, appreciate the call. Jeremy and
West Virginia. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What you got? How you doing? I was just wondering
doing is not going to work on his shot? You know?
I think maybe he was just considered transform it to
like a power for it or a small ball sent
I kind of like or like a Draymond, And he
(01:37:40):
still would have to work on his shot to even
be Draymond. At least Draymond is a threat from three.
But you know, Draymond is possible, or like you said,
he's good in the post, so maybe he could be
a power forward, although today today's power forwards a stretch forwards.
But what you see Jeremy is its. Eventually they do
play him down low a lot, you know, when they
(01:38:03):
don't get it going in the in the fast break,
then they put Ben down there in the half court offense.
And unfortunately though that forces in beat out to the
three point line, because in today's NBA, you got a
space the floor, so if you got Simmons on the post,
you can't have him and in beat on the post.
So it looks like the Celtics day they're gonna survive
(01:38:24):
because Indiana is just falling apart. Another turnover and it's
ninety seven ninety one now with six seconds left, and
they gave up a sixteen old run the Boston win
just to make this thing interesting, even though I felt
Boston was gonna clearly win the series. Oh yeah, I'm
with you on that. Yeah, it would have been nice.
But how about Jordan in Seattle? You're the odd couple
(01:38:45):
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Jordan? A gentleman? I
enjoy the show as always. Thank you. Ben Simmons reminds
me of I grew up and my hero was Gary Payton.
In Seattle. He reminds me a longer, a longer Garry Payton.
And I think if he develops that jumper, he's gonna
be vicious, no question. And if he can do that
(01:39:06):
and defend a little bit better. Um, Like I said,
he reminds me of a you know, longer Gary Payton.
As far as the Sixers go, uh, they just need
to give Elton brand the keys. He um. He knows
basketball really well and he's just a sweetheart of a guy,
and it can really really you know, understands the game,
(01:39:30):
you know, as a whole, uh you know versus just
you know, playing fantasy basketball. He really gets the gig
so well. What it's going to be interesting to see
what they do this offseason because you got enjoyed. Thanks
for the call. And Jimmy Butler's free agents live. It
will depend on how far they go in the playoffs.
Let's go to Remington in Oregon. Remington, you're on with
(01:39:52):
Chris and Rob. Yo. What's up Chris, Rob? How are
you guys doing? Man? Yeah, you've actually just touched on
my point. Like you cannot get rid of Ben Simmons.
You have to Buias Harris and Jimmy Butler that are
going to be free agents if they walk away, what
are the six years gonna do? What are they gonna
have to show for the five years where they were
just the lacking stocks of the league. You just you
(01:40:13):
can't do it. Like you gotta keep Ben Simmon. Hopefully
he developed that jump shot. You got to ride with
him though, and again we've jumped on him, but he's
still a productive player. He's just got to stay aggressive.
Came out and too aggressive. Was aggressive? That can make
up for your lack of a jumper. If if they're
not gonna guard me, and then hey, I'm gonna take
(01:40:34):
it to the hole and he can finish. So that's
what he has to do, all right, Remington, Thanks appreciate
the call. What about Charles in Atlanta? You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey guys, what's going on? Man?
You guys have become one of my go to podcast man.
I really enjoyed listening to you guys. Man, thank you.
That's all right, Thick this I'm not I love Ben Simmons,
(01:40:55):
but this is what I would do with all the city,
even if they don't make it to the even Conference finals.
I would trade Ben Simmons to the Memphis Grizzlies for
Mike Conley in their first round draft pick. I think
Mike point guard and he plays. Conley's very good. Obviously
you want to see what that pick is. But I mean, look,
(01:41:18):
Colin is good, but I would be and who or
Mike Conley and Kyl Lennis col Anderson? I would I
think I would stick with Ben unless I know Ben's
attitude is a problem and he's not gonna work on
(01:41:38):
his jumper. He's not gonna put the work. And if
you know that, like say, okay, we watched him for
two years. This guy's skating. He's not working to get
his game better than you might say. You know what,
we might be better off getting rid of him now
rather than four years or five years from now and
then we've wasted him. Be right, I agree? I agree.
Let's go to Steve in South Florida. You're on with
(01:41:59):
Christen rob Hey, guys, it's actually Dave. But hey, David, no,
no problem, Ben Simmons. He's like a number of dudes.
You know they can score in college. You know it's
like ball. But the point is, at the end of
the day, if I can't count on you in the clutch,
if you can't be my number one, I'm not gonna
(01:42:21):
treat you like my number one. Should they trade him? No,
not yet in my opinion, right because and because I
think they need to give him another year. I mean,
it's the second year in the playoffs. We really need
to see what the guy needs to do. And as
one who has been an educator and an athlete, I
tell you what I'd like you to do, what you
need to improve upon, and shoot you not work on that?
(01:42:44):
Then I realize you're a knucklehead. Either you don't get
it or you don't have it. But I people don't know, right,
and I think, look, it's a it's a strike against
them that he didn't come back this year with a
better jumper. I gave you one chance. Now you do
it again. You come back next year shooting just as
(01:43:05):
poorly and having as little confidence as you do now
in your jumper, then I may have to move on.
But I agree it's too early at this point. Thanks, Dave,
appreciate it, all right. Get the fire department on standby.
This is like, uh, we're gonna break through radio mold

I'm just not gonna happen. All right, We're bringing it

(01:43:49):
the Celtics went on a late run with Kyrie Irving
on the bench. By the way, they went on an
eight o run. Kyrie was on the bench and they
didn't come away with a win. Ninety one. Kyrie, you
finish with thirty seven points. Jason Tatum added twenty three,
so the Celtics beat the Pacers. They now have a
two zip series lead over Indiana. The other game in
(01:44:10):

all right, guys, So let's get started. You all know
the rules. You know how to play topic number one
Maya's hot seat. Topic that is, Maya who goes to
(01:48:29):
Indiana University can make sure it's in the University of Indiana.
Apparently get mad about that. But she did say that
Isaiah Thomas and not Magic Johnson, a fellow Hoosier, is
the number one point guard in NBA history. Maya, you
got thirty seconds state your case. Rob g I'm glad
(01:48:50):
you mentioned that Magic Johnson thing, because here I'm talking
about pure point guards. No six foot nine fake point guards.
I'm talking one hundred and pure point guards. Isaiah tom
Let's take a throwback to nineteen eighty eight game I
believe three of the finals. Isaiah Thomas sprained his ankle
in the third quarter Game six, Game six, Thank you.
(01:49:11):
Chris went on to score how many points, guys, twenty
five points in a single quarter with a sprain ankle.
So that's just my warm up. That's just a little
like preview, but on the real, Isaiah Thomas has been
not only the best point guard, but also the most
underrated and the most influential point guard. All right, I'll
stop stopping my First of all, you talk about pure
(01:49:34):
point guards, but you can't be six nine and be
a pure point guard. It's about how you play. Magic
Johnson was the purest of the pure because all he
wanted to do was past the ball and get his
teammates involved. One season, he only took eleven shots a game.
He got guys involved, and then you use his evidence
for Isaiah. He scored twenty five points in a quarter.
(01:49:54):
That's anything but a pure point guard. You're supposed to
be setting guys up, and look Isaiah's He was number
three on my list until a few weeks ago when
I moved Steph Curry ahead of him. But he's in
the top four in my book, behind Magic, Oscar, Isaiah,
and Chris. Chris. You did not put Steph Curry above
Isaiah Tide, Did I agree? Okay, Steph Curry can shoot
(01:50:15):
better than Isaiah Thomas, But like you said, does that
make him a pure point guard? What makes someone a
pure point guard? This his passing, and until Steph Curry
can pass the way I pass, He's no Isaiah Thomas though.
Until he can pass the way Isaiah Thomas passes, Steph
Curry is so far behind Isaiah Thomas Isaiah could find
an open player and pass them ball before that player
(01:50:36):
even knew he was open. Is that jo argue that
you're done here? Oh, now you're done, And you weren't
done when you opened your mouth in this radio studio, Maya,
how dare you coming here with your bias? You're not
giving us a sports lesson here. You're bias because you
(01:50:56):
grew up in Detroit and your dad told you that, Isaiah.
You didn't even sheare playing, You're all right? And then
you have enough to go to Indiana. Well, Isaiah playing,
This is all about you and all about what you
grew up with and your dad telling you this, Isaiah,
and you went to Indiana. They said Isaiah was great stopping.
(01:51:17):
She's still there. I see smoke, I don't see mine.
You see smoke. I'm going that's right, all right? That
was a rough round one for Maya. But you know
why she's willing to get into the to the ring
with you guys. So that's points right there, but it's
still ten ten nine round going for the That was tough,
but you know what my round too. You get a
chance to redeem yourself here on the hot seat topic
(01:51:40):
number two, everybody is picking the Golden State Warriors, including
Chris and Rob to win the NBA Championship. Maya is not.
She's taking the Greek Freak and the Milwaukee Bucks that
dethrowing the Warriors in the finals. Maya, you got thirty seconds?
Tell us why? All right? Let me start by saying,
when I first found out I was gonna be on
the hot seat about a week ago, my first take
(01:52:01):
was Pistons in seven, Pistons are gonna beat the Bucks.
So then when I found out that Blake Griffin was out,
I was like, that changes things. So I'm gonna do
a complete one eighty. Now that the Bucks are probably
gonna beat the Pistons, I'm gonna go for it and
say the Bucks will beat the Golden State Warriors. Now
the Boogie Cousins is gone. I think that it might
not hurt the Warriors as bad as some people are thinking,
(01:52:22):
but it's still it's gonna mess up their chemistry that
they just built. With him on the team, it's gonna
like they're not gonna be able to play in the past. Okay,
I usually don't do this twice in one show, but
stop it, my what First of all, you killed your
credibility with your first statement I picked the Pistons in
seven over the Bucks. First of all, that's a crazy pick.
(01:52:46):
Who would be probably the only person on earth Detroit
over Milwaukee. But then said you do that, how good
can Milwaukee be if they couldn't be the healthy Detroit Pistons,
Now they're gonna take down the three any time champion
Golden State Warriors. This is outrageous. Maya just just That's
what I'm saying, guys. So I was gonna give it
(01:53:08):
to the Pistons. I'm obviously a Pistons fan. I was
a listen with Blake Griffin and Thon Maker a previous Bucks.
They can do it now with that change, I said, Okay,
if the Bucks can beat the Pistons, the Bucks can
be anyone. Listen, guys, Yannis MVP for sure, tight, yep,
he is playing like shock on steroids. He is unstoppable.
(01:53:31):
Who on the Warriors is going to even be able
to garden the paint. I just saw him take his
previous teammate, as I mentioned, than Maker. Oh my gosh,
he did him so dirty. Maya. I'd never do it
twice either, But stop it. What are you talking about?
First of all, Milwaukee, I get it, they're the best
(01:53:54):
record all year. They played great, the Warriors until further
notice of winning a championship, you throw it out there
like Milwaukee, they gotta they gotta walk before they could call.
Before they walk. They're not ready to win, no championship yet.
They got a nice thing going, but they're not there.
They might not even get out of the East. Stop it,
(01:54:15):
you know what, guy? The ten eight round it felt
like a big powerhouse right hook from the our couple.
But you know what Maya's said. When Maya said, if
the bus can beat the Pistons, they can beat anybody.
I gotta roll with that one. At least it's a
nine nine round, man. So what's gonna come down? What?
Wait a minute, rob g she buying you a Poco
(01:54:36):
loco or whatever? Dandwich at the end of the show,
I mean, what is it? Matter of fact? Nine eight
round from Maya from let's get it finished right here.
The our couple the hot seat. Fox Sports Radio entered
Maya in with Chris and Rob. The last and most
controversial take of them all, Maya says that ki Cats
(01:55:00):
are the Jacote the greatest candy of all time. In
honor Rob Parker, Maya, you got thirty seconds. Stay your case.
I mean you, guys, I don't even know how you're
gonna argue this, so emails, just let me talk this
whole time. Let me start by saying Kitcats were voted
the most influential candy bar by Time Magazine. That right there. Wow,
(01:55:21):
that's interesting. Now let's get into the let's get into
the taste. So when you buy a Kitcat bar, first
of all, you get four bars, which is awesome, it's
not gone in just one bite. And the wafer that
crunch with the milk chocolate. There is honestly nothing, no
better duo in the world than milk chocolate in a
wafer Kitcat style. Kitcat, I don't like my chocolate, were
(01:55:45):
fur on it? What are you talking about? It's the
Three Musketeers, that milk chocolate and the whip queen in there.
There's nothing better. Didn't know nuts in the way the
Three musket Ball it's as good as it gets. The
kick cat is it cookies or is it chocolate? I
(01:56:06):
want chocolate. I don't want my cookies like that. I
want a real candy bar and a kick clat is
long and it's delicious. And Rob Parker, you are the
first person I have ever met to put three muskets?
Are you letting me? Are you going easy on me?
Because three Musketeers has got to be the worst candy.
(01:56:28):
I don't even the last time I've had one, and
I'm still a young teenager who eats candy on the rag.
And I think the last time I had a three
Musketeer bar was that Halloween where I got jipped and
someone gave me a thought look at it? Yeah, yeah,
no one would on the right mind go to the
store and say, oh, I'm gonna buy a three Musketeer bar.
So listen, Rob and Chris, I don't want any of
(01:56:49):
this three musketeer stuff. Step up your game, Maya. I
guess there's a first time for everything, so stop it.
Who everybody knows that the Mike and Ike family of
candies rain supreme. I don't just get the tropical flavors
of Mike and Ike. I get hot to Molly's. I
(01:57:10):
also get Jolly Joe's. Now they're coming out with all
types of exotic flavors. Mike and Ike's rain. What is
a kid Cat? You mentioned four bars? The bars are tiny.
I always feel like I'm wanting more. After I had
a kick Cat, I would put twigs ahead of them. Butterfinger, Uh,
Snooky Way, Snickers, milky way, the marathon bar, kid catch
(01:57:35):
her mediocre. They're like golden Girls. They's a thick count.
I feel sorry for golden girls. To right, you know
what that was the end of round three. I gotta say,
guys that three Musketeers and Mike and I's gotta be
the two oldest man candies of bucks. But you made
good cases. This one goes to the east just right right.
(01:58:02):
You get a parting gift. You get some shade butter
and cocoa butter. Yes as you ask it to heal
your wounds at Maya. We do want to say, I
know we got one more week. Thank you for all
your help on the Show's done a good job. You
really have a job. And I will say we just
got a call from HR saying that you guys are
in trouble for abusing an intern. Yes, I figured that
you are a bright future. That's right in the radio business.
(01:58:26):
I appreciate that so much. It's well, it's been an
honor getting to sit here and listen to you guys
debate and pick her all day. Appreciate us all in love,
and we're gonna send some people to your Twitter. Look,
you gotta follow Maya at Maya m I y a
underscore mingles. Her name, her last name is Ingle, so
she played on that mingle. Yes, she I've already known
(01:58:51):
that she can come up with some pretty good stuff.
I'm gonna say what it is, but she comes with
the is it acronyms? Yes, with the acronyms, the good coat.
That was good. All right. We got more of the
Eye Couple coming up. Keep it locked Fox Sports Radio.
At Farmer's Insurance, we know the sound of a perfect
hot air balloon landing and a Leston perfect one covered it.
(01:59:14):
Doctor Farmers, we are farmers underwritten. My farmers took fire
insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavlable in every state. All right,
it's the Eye Couple of Christmas. Sorry and Rob Parker
last segment of the show. And Rob has such a
good time talking about Robert Craft in the last hour.
(01:59:35):
I don't think I'm the only one to revisit it.
I just don't think I'm the only one the only
one that is dying. You're dying. Let me just said,
you're dying to see his tape at the massage Parker, right.
I just want to see what went on, Okay, I
want to see it with my old read the reports. Seriously,
you know what until the judge, you know, takes away
(01:59:57):
that temporary what he temporary blocked it from and released right,
eventually it will come out. But this is my mantra
from now one until they finally released that tape. Let's
go to the video tape. Let's go to the video tape.
I want to see it. I bet you if we
took a poll right now, we would get ten calls
(02:00:17):
and ten out of ten would want to see it.
I asked to call up quickly. If you want to
see it, well, I want to serious, I want to
see you take the take the phones down. I just
talked to the guys in the table room. They all
said they wanted to see it. Everybody wants to see it.
Rob g you want gee, do you want to see it.
That'll be a video tape. What I was saying, kind
(02:00:41):
of he does. I would avert my eyes, but maybe
you know Maya do you want to see it? She
said no, She said no, Justin do you want to
see it? Producer from the other show, as I don't know?
Justin gave a thumbs up. Who else is in there?
Damn By? I always says a lot about you. Why
(02:01:02):
damn dam please see No? No, thank you, I thank so.
I don't think I need to see I mean, I
can imagine what happened, even even that's Bob. Yeah, I
don't want to see that. You're not gonna see it clear.
I mean, they'll put a block of it. But you
don't know you okay, now that you're you're being honest,
Rod Parker, you don't want to see a block. You
(02:01:23):
don't want to see a pixated version. I don't want
If you want to see and in and high death,
don't you that's pornography. I'm not trying to see that.
I don't think anybody's trying to see I don't want
to see it. I have no desire whatsoever. This boy,
how old is he? Seventy seven? Yeah? He's a lie.
Seventy seven years old one day you'll be seven. Now
I'm starting to know why you want to go to
the Golden Girls cruise. How do you equate the shoot
(02:01:45):
together because they're both oh ancient? My parents are his age,
and I don't want to see it. No, Yeah, I
just want him to be treated like everybody else. I
don't want him to get a pass because he's rich.
Well you know what I'm made down, don hiet A
p And I agree. I think we all know what's
on the tape. I think he can be prosecuted accordingly
(02:02:07):
and treated like everybody else. But I don't think I
don't think we need to see Why don't we see?
Why do they show the video tape when somebody is
in a grocery store or whatever. They're in a place.
He was in a public place. He's won that whole. No,
it's a privately owned establishment. Yes, but he shouldn't he
broke the law? On't you break the law? We don't
see the tape of every single person that breaks the law.
(02:02:28):
We should really we should cool. What about another sex
trafficking cases? Do we need to see all of those things? Well,
they were all out down that can we can see him.
If somebody puts in up freedom of information at the
news station, why shouldn't they be able to have a release.
But if those women are victims, do you think they
want those tapes out there? Well, you're not going to
see her face though dead. We don't know why we're
(02:02:50):
gonna see. I want to see Robert. I want Robert
Craft to pay the price of embarrassment. He get what
he did right, He is being embarrassed. Dad is just
slaughtering you. I'm glad Dad wasn't on the hot seat today.
You'd be taking both of us to the wood shit.
When that comes out, you'll be the first one. I
(02:03:10):
promise you. I will not rob Parker. We might have
to cancel Magic City Monday after this display. I'm gonna
bring my our youth Pastor Jeremy in here to talk yes, Yes,
doing It's worship Wednesday. It's gonna be a couple of peace.
