Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello there, and welcome. I'm Jordan Rich. This is Connoisseur's Corner,
of course, and today the subject is wine. And with
me is my good friend Ken Hoggins with Ken'swineguide dot com,
one of the best guys you'll ever find. And Ken,
we're wrapping up this weekend Octoberfest, and yes there is
a connection to wine and great German food.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Octoberfest is the world's largest beer festival. So you're like,
why is this wine guy coming on and talking about wine?
But it runs from September twentieth this year through October fifth.
Wine goes very well with many of the traditional foods
served at the event. One of my favorites is vice wurst.
Close second is the Bretzeland, which is kind of the
Bavarian pretzel. Both these foods go very well with wheat beer,
(00:44):
but they also go great with Gruner Veldlinger and can
fine them in the Ken's Wine Guide. You just go
to the upper right hand corner, do a drop down
to white wines and click over to Gruner Velinger and boom,
there's a whole list of them. Also, off dry reesling
go really well with bratwursts and sauerkraut. You could find
that in some reestlings. There. The dry styled reslings go
(01:07):
well with the Wiener snitchel. There's a lot of German
dishes that are centered around pork. You can try their
pino noir, which they call shot boog Diner, So it
looks like spottbergender, but that's pino noir. So I hope
you get invited to an Octoberfest party this weekend. I
went to one last weekend. It was a great time
and there was a lot of food that went very
well with wine.
