Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Connoisur's corner. Jordan here answering your questions with
the help of our capable correspondence, including Adam Santamori, Wine Cheese,
chocolate Expert and Adam The question is, how about pairing
chocolate with wine?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Absolutely yes, chocolate and wine can be great together. I
mean they share a lot of similarities. They both have antioxidants,
they're both fermented foods, they both have tannin. But the
secret to pairing wine and chocolate is finding a balance
between the dryness of the wine and the sweetness of
the chocolate. Milk chocolate is not only the most popular
style of chocolate on the planet, it's also the easiest

(00:37):
to pair with wine. It's kind of mild in flavor,
it's got just the right amount of sweetness and so
milk chocolate smooth texture and gently sweet body make it
a total winner. With a fruity red wine like a
Pino noir or even Merlow. If you want to sweeten
things up a little bit, look for wines that have
a touch of sugar, like, for example, Lambrusco or Brocatto
from Italy. Now, dark Chocolate loves to see wines with

(00:59):
more body and horsepower to complement its intensity, so something
like a Napa Cabernet Sevignon is great. Of course, something
with a little bit of roundness and sweetness like ruby
port is a classic pairing as well. Now, of all
of the chocolate types, white chocolate can be one of
the most surprising when you combine it with wine. It's
very creamy and milk and that additional fat content in

(01:19):
the bar makes it a great partner for sparkling wines,
for example, thanks.
