Greetings and welcome. It's Connoisseur's Corner. I'm Jordan Rich. Every
once in a while we turned to this guy who
knows the scene in terms of food and restaurants, a
dear friend, Mark Hurwitz, who's the food writer for the
New England cable news Network and NBC Boston. Mark, you
and I have talked about all kinds of great restaurants,
but when you say the words Eastern Standard, it brings
to mind great fare. And now there's news about Eastern
(00:24):
Standard that's pretty exciting.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah. You know, they moved from Hotel Commonwealth and were
reborn in the Fenway Center nearby, which is a new complex,
And now there's an announcement that the restaurant group behind
it is going to be opening a place called Standard Italian.
It'll be across the way from Eastern Standard, and sounds
like they're going to have handmade pasta and just a
lot of good Italian dishes. Sounds like it might be
(00:46):
a little upscale, but definitely casual like Eastern Standard.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Eastern Standard. It was so sad when I think the
pandemic took them out for a while, and then they
still kept their home deliveries and so forth. But this
is exciting news. Boston is back, and Eastern Standard is
a good example of that.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Yeah, people didn't think it was going to ever come back,
and they were so happy when I came to this
new complex. And now there's going to be a place
for Italian food and the same ownership. So I can't
wait to go there.
