Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mac. The argument is always would you rather have X
ray vision or flight? But you know us, we go deeper,
We dig down, real deep on the topics. And what
I did is I went to IGN dot com, as
everyone does, and I looked up there one hundred top superpowers.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Okay, wow, we're going to go through.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
All of these superpowers. That's a joke. We're gonna go
from ten to one.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Give me a hundred, though, I want to hear out
one number one hundred.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Number one hundred produce bouncing gold balls.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Okay, all right, Okay, I don't know what I would
have number one hundred, but it seems like they probably
stretched to get to one hundred.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
That's what my assumption would be. So what we're gonna
do is I'm gonna say either or would you rather?
And I'm gonna go from ten to one. You tell
me which superpower you would rather have.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I gotcha. I'm picking up what you're putting down.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Shape shifting or telekinesis. Telekinesis telekinesis you can control stuff
with your mind. It's pretty cool, Mac. Telekinesis or invulnerability telekinesis.
I've got to go in vulnerability. I want to die
at some point, I wouldn't mind dying after this podcast,
and I'd be happy we saw a great movie. Telekinesis

(01:15):
or hard light constructs.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
So that's like telecanesis, but with light telecanesis. Can I
read minds too?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I don't believe. So that's telepathy or telepathy is one
would actually pronounce that.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I'd rather bend light or move stuff. I think bend
and light might be a little more useful. All right,
I'll go that. I'll go that option.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Next one up, though, is telepathy. Yeah, telepathy, So telepathy
over bending lights. So you do want telepathy? Yes, give
me telepathy telepathy or super speed telepathy, telepathy or and
this would help you in your line of work. Fire manipulation, Uh,

(01:56):
fire manipulation is cool. Telepathy is more useful. You would
be the coolest firefighter ever. You would show up to
a fire and just go you just snap your finger
on the fire, or you'd go, you'd suck it all
in telepathy or super strength telepathy. Yeah, I already have

(02:17):
super strength and it's good, but you get that dad
strength though. Telepathy or invisibility telepathy, telepathy or flight flight.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Would be pretty cool. I just feel like telepathy is
going to be the most useful in my day to
day life. I'll go telepathy.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Telepathy. Why would you want telepathy? Why would you want
to know what people are thinking? I barely want to
hear people talk to me, let alone dig into their
mind and find out what they actually think of you.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Well, because you could influence people with telepathy too.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I would just cry constantly, just doing this all day. Yeah,
would you doing this? But also I'm sitting there going like, oh,
they don't like me? Is that really? That's the way.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
You can control it. You can block it out too,
you know.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, you know what you can also do if you're invisible.
If I were in visible, I could just hide.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
You could just sneak on into the woman's locker room.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
So that's not what I would do.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
So you would do that one time, well.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Maybe one time, and then you know what they say,
Once you do it once, you're gonna do it again.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Right right, It's a gateway.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Gateway superpower number eleven is pretty good too.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Actually, teleportation, so that I would like that that would
be in the running because that's better than a flight
or speed if like, if you could go nightcrawlery type
of thing. But just you know, pick where you want
to like Jumper almost two, that's pretty useful.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I want the power of Jumper.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
That's an underrated movie, dude, underrated movie. One good?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Three? Yeah, just three. King of Queen mill Street Entertainment,
I'm good and I'm Mac and we are the Mac
and Goo program bringing you friendship. And we are delighted

(04:19):
to be here with you today to bring you a
review of a movie that's very good.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Good. What a comeback? What a comeback for James Gunn.
Of course, he gave us Guardians three. But a comeback
for the DCU here, a good launch pad for the DCU. Here,
a good comeback for Superman. Of course. The last iteration
of Superman we saw from DC was Henry Cavell in
all sorts of movies in for better or worse. Henry

(04:51):
Cavill was good at being Superman.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
He was good. He also had to look He looked.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Great as Superman. Clark Kent maybe not as good. But
the ruality doesn't matter as much with Superman as it
does for Batman.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Well as we thought, because the duality of what Korn
sweat gave us an air of what the way that
gun shaped this character I and we'll get way deeper
into this, but the scene with him and Lois Lane
in the interview is such a great scene of him

(05:24):
snapping back and forth between Clark and Superman, and they
gave it to us in a trailer, but that is
the scene center for this movie.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yeah. What I really liked about Korn Sweat's depiction of
this character is that Clark Kent that we didn't really
get in the Snyder verse in the prior DCU. We
got cavill as Clark Kent, but more so the country
Clark Kent, and less so the reporter Clark Kent, the
adult Clark Kent working in the city. And to be fair,

(05:57):
I also think we should have got more of it
in this movie, but that's you know, we'll talk about
that in a.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Futures also, I think, and we don't, like, we have
a bunch of stuff to get to. But what I
really liked about it is that he enjoyed what he did.
He didn't think it was a burden. It wasn't this like,
you know, people are praying to him and he has
to go do it because he has these powers. He

(06:21):
loves sharing his ability with the world.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Yeah, and Corn Sweat does a really good job, a
great job in this movie capturing that like boyish charm
that Superman.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Has, that Clark Kenneth, the big boy boy Scout.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah yeah, And we saw a lot of that in
the best version of Captain america in the MCU, But
that Captain America's big blue boy Scout is more like
hardlined and idealistic, where Superman's just a little more fuzzy
and more big picture.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Also, it's it's aw shucks, g Willickers. It's like they
do a great job of channeling the Christopher Reeves that
we got in the nineteen seventies.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
And because you know, as great as of a hero
as Captain America is, he is not constantly deciding whether
he needs to pull his powers back or not.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
You know, it's a great point too, because Superman could
kill everyone on Earth, right, he could also kill his
greatest enemy. Yeah, he doesn't. And what I love about
it too is his greatest enemy knows this, and he
just keeps on needling at him.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yes, it's it's a little bit of a like a
Batman Joker situation where the enemy it would gladly give
everything for that person to cross the line. You know
what I mean. It's it's a little bit of that dynamic.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
But also, it would take so much effort for Batman
to kill the Joker, it would take little to no.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Effort for Spiderman to kiot.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
And what's also is this is just chapter one. This
is not only chapter one of Superman.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
It's like chapter three really.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
And so James Gunn going into this movie, he said,
we never need to see kal El show up on
Earth again from Krypton. We never need to see Krypton
blow up again. We never need to see the pearls
be broken with Batman's mother again. We never need to
see Peter Parker be bitten by a spider. These are

(08:22):
great moves because we don't need to waste our time anymore.
That's just a part of what popular culture knows. We
don't need to teach new people this.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
I agree with that mostly, But at the end of
this movie, I was left feeling like if we had
gotten a little bit more of the pre stuff, the
build up to Superman as Clark ket evolves, the emotional
moments in this movie would have hit more. So that's
what you sacrifice when you sacrifice more of that origin stuff.

(08:54):
And that's a fine trade off for the most part,
but for the emotional moments to really get over, you
do need a little more of that pre stuff that batter.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
I don't know if we do, because they do a
great job of You start with Superman on a down note.
He is immediately going to the Fortress of Solitude. This
is non spoiler, by the way, This isn't a lot
of the trailers, and this is in the opening scene.
We're not going to do spoilers to start this off.
But you start with him on a down note. He
just got the shit beaten out of him, and we

(09:27):
learn immediately that what soothes him as he is being
blasted with yellow Sun is to hear the message from
his parents, right right, So we do get his parents
early on. We just don't need the baby coming in.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
No, I'm not saying you need him landing on Earth necessarily.
I think you just needed to see a little more
growth and don't you just needed him a little bit
more of an obstacle to overcome to set up the
later stuff. I'm not saying it made the movie bad,
but it just hurt the emotional moments.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Awat I heard and I read the police report is
that someone hold the cops on you because you were
yelling in the theater. Where's the baby? Where's the baby?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Yo? So we're talking comeback for Superman, James Gun the DCU,
Kim Cardile. I would be remiss, but I didn't mention
the massive comeback of the McDonald's snack wrap. Also, I
absolutely demolished two of these prior to heading into the theater,
So I had myself a hell of a day. Real great.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Have you tried the Popeyes one yet? I haven't, so Popeyes.
This is a rap battle. If you will to ding
ding ding ding ding ding. That's a really bad beat.
I was trying to do eight mile. I couldn't do it.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
It sounded more like California Cation.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Well, it's not California Cation, is it. It's California Love.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Oh, California Love. Yeah, not the red out Chili Peppers.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
It's going in circles right now. Been of a rap battle.
You got Popeyes, which makes a delicious chicken wrap chicken
sandwich versus McDonald which, like they popularized this snack rap
back in the day.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
I think the McDonald's snackrap is like half the price.
Does that it's half the price. It's also like a
third of the calories. Yeah, which is crazy, but you
know what they say, calories are delicious. Approach tip for
the folks at home. And I did tweet this out
as well. If you're getting a ranch snack wrap at bacon,
really tie it together real nice little.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
What was the extra price on that mac?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
It's like another two bucks, fucking two bucko bucks for bacon.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
The snack wrap cost fifty cents. You are now at
something that costs two dollars on top.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Two ninety nine for the snack crap. I don't remember
what it costs twenty years ago though, but welcome back
snack crap. Welcome back Superman. Good yeah, Superman?

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Are we lining up the video right now?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Aka the artist formally known as Superman Legacy, which was
the working title of this movie for like three years.
They changed it maybe six months ago. I don't know,
but I would have been interested to see that was
there more legacy stuff in there that he took out
because this movie was what ended up coming out. You know,
I'm a little curious for someone to ask him about
that at some point. Goo two hundred and twenty five

(12:05):
million dollar budget for this movie. It's expected to make
anywhere between one hundred and one hundred and ten million
on opening weekend, but they're hoping for upwards of one
hundred and thirty. And I'll tell you this, I saw
the earliest screening possible on Thursday, two pm, completely full theater.
I think it's gonna get past one ten. I think
we're gonna get time.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
I think also word of mouth and curiosity factor that
is going into this because usually when I'm at work,
no one wants to talk to me, no one wants
to deal with me. Sure, Sure, I had several a handful.
I'd even say, people ask me about this movie.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Wow, how about that? Yeah, so you talk to people.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
And I said, I wish I had the power of invisibility.
Right now.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
There's a PG thirteen action adventure in sci fi sub
genre superhero that really has become a prominent subgenre over
the last twenty years. Obviously, this is a run time
of one hundred and twenty nine minutes, just over two minutes,
and I gotta say the pacing is very strong. You
are about halfway through this movie, You're like, man, this

(13:07):
felt like the first third of a movie, Like we
get a lot to do here. I can't believe we're
halfway through.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Roughly ninety minutes into the movie. I weirdly, and I'll admit,
this is a very odd thing that I did. I
sat back in my chair and went, huh, I'm having
a great time right now. What have I ever done that?
I was like, I've lost my love for most things,
but right now I am having a blast.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Speaking of having a blast, you of the critics on
roddy T's eighty two percent, the audience very early return
ninety six percent. So the people that have seen this
movie already are loving it, including the critics. And for
a comic book movie, you know, eighties isn't super high.
They did give it a sixty nine on Metacritics fifty
one reviews. Sixty nine for a comic book movie is

(13:54):
on the higher side. The best ones end up in
the mid high seventies the occasional eighty, but sixty nine
is a strong return. And of course Goo We've mentioned
them already. This movie is written and directed by James Gunn.
Some of his writing credits include Scooby Doo, Scooby Doo two,
Don of the Dead, Super The Three Guardians movies, the
Belko Experiment, the Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and of course Creature Commandos.

(14:18):
So this is technically like the third entry into the
DCU because you had Creature Commandos and Peacemaker kind of counts,
so it gets fuzzy.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
I would almost look at this as chapter one of
the dc that we now know what is. I would
say that Creature Commandos is almost the fly Leaf.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Technically, Creature Commandos is the first thing created for this DCU,
And now it seems like in peace Maker season two
they're gonna wreck Coon some Peacemaker season one into this universe,
so decide how you want upcoming. Of course he has
Peacemaker season two goo. He's also a writer on Coyote
vers Acme when you think about that, I must have
missed that, but that finally he's getting a twenty twenty
six release date. His directing includes Super the Three Guardians movies,

(15:02):
The Suicide Squad, and of course Peacemaker and again peace
Maker season two coming up.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
What is the famous song by fly Leaf? I just
google it and I don't know any.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Of their songs, so sick that one?

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Okay, thank you?

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Yeah, I forget what it's called.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
It's called I'm so sick, I'm so sick. You are
like a jukebox. I could mention any band, and I
bet you could tell me the name of a song.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
No, I might be able to mimic what the song
sounds like with wrong lyrics. Every time I do karaoke,
I learned something new because I'm the king of the
misheard lyric. I'm really good at knowing seventy five percent
of the lyrics. Synopsis of Superman, there wasn't a good one,
so I kind of had to get one condensed. So
this is really half from me. As Superman's actions begin

(15:48):
getting questioned, Lex Luthor seizes the opportunity to try and
get the Man of Steel out of the way for
good will. Lois Lane and Superman's four legged companion, Crypto
be able to help him before it's too late.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
They're acting like Crypto as a choice. He's a dog, yeah,
but he's not there will.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
They have a little bit of free will.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
This dog doesn't really though.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
On the scale zero one hundred, what would you give
dogs free will? One hundred being the most free will.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
It depends on how well trained they are, and this
one is not very well ted.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
I'd say, like twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Are you talking about a well trained dog or a
bad dog.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
I'm just saying dogs and Jake average yeah, one third
thirty three higher than I do, little than you, but
you're higher on dogs, dude. This movie stars David Corden
Sweat as Clark Kent Slash Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane,
Nicholas Holt as Lex Luthor. Eddie Gathagee is mister Terrific.

(16:43):
Nathan fillyons Guy Guard.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
I'm out Nathan Filling in this movie. If you close
your eyes, you might think is Woody Harrelson.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Isabella More said it's hot girl. Maria Gabriella da Faria
as the end.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
How many time else do I get? Left?

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Time?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Went back for that one?

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Get one post spoilers too, So you lost your first hat?

Speaker 1 (17:04):
I lost my first one. That wasn't a good time out.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Anthony Carrigan as Metamorphal Skyler Gizondo, Gizondo, I don't know
how to say that. Last name is Jimmy Olsen, Sarah
Simpio as eve tesk Mocker. And then that's the main
cast of characters, and then we have people sprinkled in
here and there you have Bradley Cooper and Angelos Sarafian
as Clark Kent's parents, Caliles Pounds, Joel and Lara. Laura

(17:30):
Alan Tudick is Gary one of the robots. Michael Rooker
as one of the robots. Palm Clement Tief is one
of the robots. You have Michael Ian black and playing
a really good talking head, Cleavis Thornwait. I really enjoyed
his presence in this movie. Then you have the news
team Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard.
They of course are with Jimmy and Lois. You have

(17:53):
Frank Grillo as Rick Flagg Senior who debuted in Creature Commandos.
They carry him over here, Lato Burrick as Vasil Gorkos.
He is the chancellor of Yes Bravia. I believe it's
the name of the country. Einstein here, Yeah, dynash Niagerian
as Mali. That's the street vendor. Shaun gun is Maxwell Lord,

(18:14):
who is sort of behind some of the stuff going
on here.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
That's the Pedro Pascal character in Wonder Woman, isn't.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
It it is?

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (18:22):
It is good for those at home that are looking
to learn a little bit about this movie before they've
seen the movie. A major inspiration that James Gunn has
talked about for two years for this movie in this
story is the comic book the comic Run titled Superman Birthrate.
So if you're looking to learn some before going in,
look that up. We kick this movie off, goo, let

(18:43):
me set the scene for the folks before we get
into some stuff here. Please do in this DCU and
we're learning this for the first time. Meta humans have
been around for almost three hundred years. They do this
three three three thing at the beginning of the movie.
On top of that, Superman landed on Earth roughly thirty
years ago go as an infant, and he has been
Superman for roughly three years at this point, and he's

(19:06):
also been dating Lowish for three months. So that really
sets the scene as to what Clark Cannon, what Superman
we're getting into here. We're also the whole thing that
really sets everything off here is there's two countries at
war essentially, Bravia and jahanpor Jarhanpoor and Superman steps in

(19:26):
and prevents the war, and that's really what kicks this
movie off. That's what you need to know, sort of going.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Forward anything else with your notes here.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Just before we get into you know, the Gauntlet here,
I think before we get into Doggs, you've already said
this is a great movie. I think my main takeaway,
regardless of what I liked or disliked, I think that
this version of Superman is the absolute perfect counterpart or
foil for whatever we're gonna get for Batman. The way

(19:57):
they've built this character, I think it's going to be
the perfect.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Even if they decide to roll the Batman into this
the way that these two movies look, where one is
super bright, just so well lit and you can see
everything with Superman, and then the Batman is just so
dark and dreary and the music is so down and
nirvanay like, that's a great yin and yang that if

(20:21):
you do, if you do want to do it, you can.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
I mean. So there is something that happens to this
movie that opens up like multiversal possibilities, but that Batman
cannot exist in this on this earth. It's just not possible.
After watching this movie, there's no way as.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Possible that Batman can do whatever he wants. It's Robert Pattinson.
Shall we get into.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
The Gauntlet, Let's do it fun.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Fact or Mac. This movie has tons of fun. It
is big, bright, weird comic Bookie has some gunnish moments
thrown in, not as many as say Guardians or Suicide Squad.
The Suicide Squad. I love this. Awe shucks Clark Kent.
I think he's awesome. And like I mentioned earlier, middle

(21:06):
of a theater, middle of a movie, I said to myself,
I'm having a lot of fun. That's fun factor good.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
This movie's fun. It's paced as such. The pacing leads
itself to a fun movie. There's very little downtime. However,
when you go into James gun movies, you know these
last few years, you are expecting a certain type of fun,
and I do think it was missing some gun fund.
There was a little bit of gun control at work here.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
I disagree. I think we got as much gun in
a movie like this as we possibly could because you could.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
Agree with that.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
You couldn't go full the Suicide Squad level metacom so I.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Don't know what it would have looked like. And I
this is my main criticism that I texted you when
I left the movie. First thoughts, initial thoughts was I
think it's both a positive and a negative that there
was some gun control here. That gun drew it back
a little bit. I think maybe that helped the story.
But expectations wise, you were expecting a little more gun

(22:05):
in this movie.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Thanks for explaining that to me, because you know what
I said when you text me, I wish I knew
how to read. No, I think that the focus here
was not on his usual meta comedy. It was on
meta humans.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Oh look at you. Put that on the DVD cover.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Put it on the DVD cover. Also, No, there are
pure gun comedy references that I don't think many others
would do. There is a joke in this that is
ripped right from the Simpsons. It is my favorite joke ever.
I'll talk about it in spoilers.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
So I only laughed out loud, like a good hearty
laugh once. There's a lot of hajas, yes, But in
the past James gun movies, they're a multiple belly laughs.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
So okay, let's jump to pants ten City Excite bike Mania,
because I think this movie is so consistently good. It
might lack that one or two, like big memorable moments
like I love the scene where he is going up
against the giant Kaiju, and he's also dealing with the

(23:13):
Justice Gang that wants to beat the monster a certain way,
but he's trying to protect everyone. That's a really fun scene.
I don't know if i'd say it's excite bike mania.
There is a scene and it's been shown on all
the trailers of him breaking out of a glass case
that gives you some butterflies, but I'm not sure if
that is the excite bike mania. I just think it's
consistently good.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah. I think one of the bigger downsides if you
were to call it that for this movie is it
does sort of lack that huge pants tent moment that
emmenttally rewatchable scene sole scene. I really liked what they
did with the characters and beat for beat throughout the movie,
but it doesn't really have that massive standout moment. I

(23:53):
think they kind of tried for it towards the conclusion,
when he's like blasting all Alexis goons. It just was nice.
It's just never really quite got there though.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Let's jump back to Satisfactor for a chapter one and
we all know this. Chapter two's are usually better. This
is a good launching off point.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Again, It's really not a chapter one, though it is
the first thing we kind of starting at chapter three
again is fine, totally fine. I do love this as
a live action launch pad for the DCU because specifically,
it establishes our Clark Kent Superman in such a manner
that I think he's gonna bounce off all the other

(24:32):
characters that are coming really greatly. On top of that,
we get a Lex Luthor that's already hot, hot start, and.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
This movie sexy.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
This movie provides the perfect motivation I think for like
an overarching story, a six movie story arc where Lex
is pulling the strings from all sorts of points. So
I really like what this movie set off for those
two characters.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I also I love how Lex Luthor goes about attacking
Superman and knowing his every move, and obviously he's not
able to fight him himself, but he's able to play
a little bit chats with him.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Kinda hated that that might have been the thing I
hated most.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
I enjoyed it. Okay, he's always one move ahead, but
also I think within a couple of years Superman will
be able just to fight right past that. He's still
a little green behind the ear, if you know what
I'm talking about he's not quite a vet yet. Borometer.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
No, No, there's really there's no bore in this movie.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Yeah, that's for sure. Halloween, maybe I don't think so,
but over time.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah, I think in the same way. Now, this isn't
necessarily fair because we're thirty six movies into.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
The MCU, and with thirty six years old.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I think this may end up having some of that
fatigue we ended up with with Phase one of the MCU,
where we don't really look back on them as the
best movies in the MCU. And a little bit of
that is because it has to do certain things to
get the universe going, and a little bit of that
is lacking that stand out pants tent, and it doesn't

(26:03):
quite have that classic gun stuff. It teeters in there,
but it's not like a quintessential gun thing.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
But although it might not be the big action scene,
I do think that interview scene might be. It's a
great scene, it might be the go back if I'm
going to watch one scene from the movie, that might
be it.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
And it does a good job at defining both of those.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
But also maybe the fact that it doesn't have that
one big standout scene that just says that I'm going
to go back and watch the full movie multiple times,
as opposed to I'm scrolling on YouTube and I'm like, oh,
I remember when Quicksilver saved Magneto and I watched that
for the fiftieth time.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Yeah, yeah, no, I get. I get what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
It's better than water World.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
It is better than water World.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
When life gives you plumbings, you say Jesse Plemmons is
the best, and I hope that he will one day,
and there's been rumors he'll join one of these types
of movies. But until then, we need to say who
is doing the plemonade work in this movie.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
That was the longest introduction.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
I didn't know where to land it. I didn't know
where to stand. Beck Bennett. I love beck Bennett. Beck
Bennett is such a wonderful addition to this movie. I'm
not even sure who he is. I think he's the
sports guy.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Maybe yeah. He felt a little out of place, to
be honest, he maybe laughs.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
I think that's really good though he maybe laugh every
single time.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
It felt weird. I still don't know how I feel
about his character, but he did make me.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
I love out the first time you see him. Clark
Kent walks into the Daily Planet and he just goes,
hey Kent, you know what an adverb is? And he
slaps him on the chest with the beast of paper.
And it's so funny because Clark Kent six foot five.
I know he's wearing glasses, but clearly just beat the
shit out of him. He doesn't care my plemonade.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
I think very clearly. Here goes to Nathan Fillion. He
was I think the funniest character in the movie. And
you know, Nathan Fillion calls obviously has a certain type
of way about him, and he is half playing a
similar Nathan Fillion character we've seen in the past. But
Guy Gardner Green Lantern is a very funny character, and
I wasn't sure how he was gonna feel about this

(28:12):
character going forward, and especially when we get that Lantern
series coming up with two separate lanterns. It's not Guy Gardner.
I want more Guy Gardner. I hope he comes back.
You know.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
It was also very good. Was Wendell Pierce.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Yeah, he's playing the same character that Wendell Pierce.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
I'll say, but it's he it's very specific. Smoke a
cigar and just Yell print it. That's it hit sand Yeah,
is that all we have?

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Oh Max Credit Union you could get so as a
team award. I want to give credit to the casting
department for this movie, and I know James Gunn had
a huge hand of that. They fucking crushed the casting
in this amazing y Everyone was cast nearly perfect, but
especially my actual credit is going to go to David

(28:55):
korn Sweat. He was perfectly pulling off like I said,
but for that boyish charm, that boy scout that Superman
needs while simultaneously being a badass. Cavell was great at
being the badass. He lacked in the boyish charm part.
It just was something that that character lacked. Not necessarily
his fault, you know, it's a writing thing too, But

(29:18):
this movie does not work without corn Sweat being able
to pull off the Clark Kent part.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah, I say, James Gunn, But casting is a great
point by you because leaving the movie, as I was
talking to my life mama, we were talking about how
this is the beginning of a new universe, and what's
great about it being a universe is that you could
see any of these characters not only in Superman movies,
but they could sprinkle them into flash movies, Wonder Woman movies,

(29:44):
Batman movies. So hopefully we do see these guys that
might not have gotten as much of a spotlight this
they can show up elsewhere.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Yeah, and you know what to that point, specifically with
the heroes, Eddie Gathagy as mister Terrific, we already talked about,
Nathan Fillion and is Bella Marcett is Hawk Girl. We're great,
especially Eddie Gathagy, and like, I'm gonna be looking forward
to seeing them popping up in more DC things.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Do you think that Maya Hawk auditioned for that? And
she was like, I'm not wearing the costume, but guys,
i am Hawk Girl.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
I am that may laugh every time.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
It's so stupid. Also, powers kind of stink.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I don't really know what her powers are.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
I have no fly and she has a mace.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Yeah, pretty Having a mace is really impractical. By the way, would.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
You rather have the mace that she had, which was
like the stick with the ball at the end, or
would you rather have it on a chain so you
could swing it?

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Chain? Much more practical.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
But there's a lot more accidents that could happen.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Yeah, but you have more reach, more velocity.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
I would like a chain that like when you go
like this, like when you fling it out, it like
flies off, like like I'm a chump.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Like it extends. Yeah, okay, yeah, sure.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
That's not the character in Mario, is it. That's a
Pokemon it is? Oh all right, P. The guy that
did the voice of James Professor Oak, Gary Ook and
Meouf passed away.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah, specifically James and Mouth are great voices. So all right,
P that guy you.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Didn't like Gary Oak. Oh let me just point this out.
Very crazy. In the game, he had a radica, or
he had a radicate, and then you leave that spooky island,
suddenly he doesn't have e radicate. Did the radicate die?

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Sure? Sure, the radicate goes away. That radicate is a
real son of a bit early on when it gets
hyperfang that.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Shit ton you right now, Radicate's dead.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
It is a rat. Are we on?

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Hot dogs?

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Yeah? Dude, give me your hot dog score here, lay
it on me.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Hot dogs, hot hot dogs. Oh my god, fucking score.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Ripped score is very good.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
What it lacked in a soundtrack. When it lacked in
a James Gun soundtrack, that's the.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Other thing I forgot to mention, I'm glad you brought
it up, but didn't have a kick ass James Gunn soundtracks.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
There was awesome. The only part of the score that
I did not like is when they were at there's
a machine that they go through, and every time I
thought it was too loud and too rock and roll.
I say, you turned down that music, James gun Okay,
all right, as I called the cops on them, this
is bright, vibrant, it's a fun movie. I thought they

(32:24):
might have spent a little too much time when they
go into the machine. I don't want to say what
they do in there, we'll talk about that in spoilers,
but they spend a lot of time in there. I love, love,
love this Clark Kent Superman and how he interacts with
the world and how others deal with him because he
just wants to do good. But it's funny that others

(32:45):
are just annoyed by him trying to do so good
or being a goodie two shoes, or obviously they do
play with the fear of him being from another planet.
That's also a theme in Batman Vus Superman. By the way,
I feel like people have kind of overlooked that when
looking at this movie versus that movie. But also his
interactions with the Justice Gang is really funny, and he

(33:08):
answers a question that we yell about like two idiots
every time there is a fight in New York and
we're like, where the fuck is Spider Man? Where's Doctor Strange?
Why aren't they helping the Falcon right now? And there's
a scene in this where there's a big battle and
Superman's like, nah, they can handle it.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Yeah. There's also I mean Soorcer or Supreme I guess
gets to that level too. There's a difference between Spider
Man Superman. You know, Spider Man is not traveling the
world as quick as.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Shame so I know that. But I did like that
they had a scene in there because everyone's I was like, well,
if there's this big fight in Metropolis, why isn't he
doing it?

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (33:45):
And He's like, well, they don't need me right now.
The chemistry between Core and Sweat and Rachel Brosnahan, we
have not mentioned a lot of Rachel Brosnahan so far
in this podcast. She was wonderful in this. Louis Lane
was a character in this and she did a lot
in the movie. She also did a lot to push
Clark Kent in this movie. But they were so good

(34:08):
that or she was so good that you could have
made it where they weren't even dating and she would
still have a use in this movie. She wasn't just
there to be Superman's girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
No, she wasn't a damsel in distress. She was a
very strong character. She was very useful in the movie,
in the story, and she was great. Like you said,
the chemistry was great. She's again perfect casting.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
They did a great job with all of the characters
in this movie, the big group of characters, a wide
group of characters, but they kept the spotlight on the
main character, Superman. I love the relationship that Clark had
with his Earth parents, with Ma and Paw, the consistent
action that we had throughout this entire movie. And also

(34:50):
Superman taking a beating. Doesn't that kind of take away
from the threat of him actually getting hurt? Maybe, but
it was some fun punchy Punchy enjoyed that. I can't
wait to see where they go from here. I'll get
to my favorite joke and spoilers, I don't want to
say it here. There might be a little too much crypto.
There might be a little too much of the dog

(35:11):
and how shows up to save the day type of stuff,
And I wasn't the biggest fan of it. I thought
it was funny, but then a little too much. Also,
Jimmy Olsen ladies Man, that was kind of beating over
the head too. That story. I thought it was funny.
But Mac thirty eight hot talks.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Ooh, all right, thirty eight and where does that rink
on the year for you?

Speaker 1 (35:37):
It might be number one? It's this or friendship?

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Okay, all right, wow, good, I'll echo everything we've said
and everything you just said there. Corn Sweat is brilliant.
Brosenahan compliments him extremely well in general. Once again, the
casting is near perfect. I also think, and we didn't
talk about him enough. Eddie Gathagey is pretty great in

(35:59):
this with when he's a stupid character like mister Terrific
is a stupid character, he makes it work really well.
Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor is fucking great. The pacing
is great and one of the best things about this movie.
As much as it doesn't have the pants tent or
maybe you're underwhelmed by the ending or something you are
left wanting so so much more from this universe and

(36:20):
wanting to see where it goes. Like you mentioned, I
like that Superman, it's truly different than the other heroes.
His goals are different, his values are different. I really
like that.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
It wasn't just a big group of moody assholes.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Yes, for sure. You also you mentioned Clark's parents, and
this is Earth parents. You really bought in and believe
his human roots. It's very believable. His motivations are very believable,
and that's huge for the character. Once again, a really
nice table setter, lead off hitter, world builder for this DCU. However,
I do have some critiques. I do feel like it's

(36:55):
not as emotional as it was intending to be, maybe
because we didn't really have a little bit of that build.
We just jump right into stuff we have, We didn't
really have the backstory. We just jump right into stuff. Now,
the movie's still really good, and it's just the emotional moments.
Get a little hurt by that. That's all I'm saying.
There's a little bit of a twist in here with

(37:17):
a character in the third act that is not at
all surprising, and I'm not sure I liked it. It's
one of the Internet's been talking about for like four months.
I also didn't like Lex calling those fight moves like that.
I liked it, I didn't care for that build the
program that does it for him. You don't need to
do that. And once again, there probably wasn't enough gun

(37:38):
in this for me, Like I am happy filtering himself
a bit for the sake of the story, and I
understand why this movie is the way it is. But personally,
I love James Gunn and I love his movies. I
love the Guardians movies second third one, probably more than
most people. So I just wanted a little more of
that gun flare. And so I have this thirty five,

(38:00):
I have thirty six hot Dogs. I'm like teetering right
in between. It's my number four movie of the year,
but to me pretty clearly behind twenty eight years Later
Sinners and Friendship, and I think it was just a
little bit better than Thunderbolts. So that's that's where I
have it.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Shall we spoil spilers? Spiler spoiler spoilers? So Number one,
my favorite joke in this movie this reference that I
might have been the only person like really cackling in
the movie. Theater for was when they go into this
pocket universe, which, by the way, I thought they spent
a little too much time in there because the rest
right there go ahead.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
I think they spent so much time in there because
I think that's gonna be really the b I agree,
big jumping pad for this universe.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
But I think compared to how the rest of the
movie looks, where the rest of the movie is bright
outside blue sky, this I thought just kind of felt
like jumbling of colors at certain points.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Yeah, but it makes sense for what it.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Is, I know. But it also did contain a lot
of gun stuff or a gun goes really silly, gun
got crazy. And the joke that I love, and this
is a reference to The Simpsons, I think is while
they are going to put Superman in a cage, Lex
Luthor points out that he has hundreds of monkeys that

(39:17):
type out hate tweets at Superman, and that is a
I believe a reference to mister Burns that had one
hundred monkeys on one hundred typewriters trying to type the
Great American Novel.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
I think it's I think it's a like a it's
referencing multiple things I'm sure, but I think it's just
part of it. I don't think it's just.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
It was the best of time. It was the blurst
of time.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
You The major the major moment in this movie that
kicks off the second half of the movie is the
engineer who is working for Lex Luthor decodes the broken
part of the message left by jar L and Lara,
Laura Clark's parents and they tell him the second half
of the message that he doesn't get, essentially to rule

(40:06):
over the earth. Additionally, take a harem of lovers, which
I like that little style.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
You are better than these people and you should not
associate yourself with them. You should be above them.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Yeah, and it makes sense based on the being that
he is. And then Lex weaponizes this information to manipulate
the media, to the government, everyone, and he doesn't have
a fair of Superman. He's in fact the opposite of that.
That's what makes the second half of the movie go.
And as you mentioned go, Lex created I'm gonna put

(40:39):
that in air quotes a pocket dimension to imprison people
and also fast travel, like he's using it for multiple things.
We also saw this technology pop up and peacemaker with
his closet when he opened and it was like a
little pocket universe pocket dimension, so that's probably related here.
I also think they specifically said it is a rift

(41:01):
in between two different universes, which means they're already sort
of talking about multiversal ramifications. And of course, you know,
the climax of this movie is Superman defeating Lex and
him and mister Terrific closing the rift. But the big thing,
and I mentioned this above, we get this reveal that Ultraman,

(41:21):
who was actually was also the the Hammer of Brava.
He's a Superman clone DNA that Lex Scott from a
hair hairstrand from Clark Kent, so he's like imperfect. He
ends up stuck in this little pocket dimension, in that
black hole, and I wonder if they're setting him up
to be the Bizarro Superman. It seems that they're kind

(41:43):
of heading down that that storyline, and he sort of
combined characters to end up with the Superman clone, maybe
ultimately Bizarro, because it's a massive change from who Ultraman
is in the comics. They sort of combined Ultraman in
Bizarro to get that character. We also get as Lex
is being arrested, they mentioned they're gonna take him to

(42:04):
Belle rev which is the prison that we saw on
the Suicide Squad and Creature Commandos. So I wonder if
Lex meets some characters we've already met and that comes
into play later. Additionally, good at the end of the movie,
not a post credit, we get a Supergirl arriving on
scene to pick up Crypto, and I'll tell you what

(42:24):
just her like thirty seconds on screen. I really liked
Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
I'm all in, I love that, and I'm like, I
think this is gonna be a fun flip side to
what we just got in this movie.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
That's the next DCU movie coming out is Supergirl, And
if you're looking for some background there, apparently that's gonna
be centered around a comic called Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow.
And I guess the main difference between Supergirl and Superman,
at least what's gonna be in this universe is when
she arrives on Earth, she's already like fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen,

(42:57):
nineteen twenty, so she has Kryptonic experiences and Superman does not,
and so that really drives the difference in their characters.
So that'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
You know what I didn't like?

Speaker 2 (43:09):
What's that?

Speaker 1 (43:10):
I didn't like Lex Luthor crying.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Yeah, I was like an emotional thing though.

Speaker 1 (43:14):
I know, but I think if he does like an
anger cry, I know, but I feel like and Nicholas
Holt is a great actor, he could have gotten that
through the camera without tears.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
Yeah, I fair. I didn't mind it that that ultraman
reveal though, like the Internet was all over it so
long ago, and the fact that we're not really sure
like what that character is going to be. I just
didn't love it.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
As soon as they pulled off the helmet, I gave
a quick one of these to see if it was
Henry Cavill And then as soon as I saw that
it was just another chorn sweat, I said, all right, whatever, Yeah, it.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Was just it's a choice, that's for sure. I guess
if he is going to become Bizarro, though, he does
need to be a corn sweat look alike.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Also, And I didn't want I asked my wife this
because I didn't want her to think I was stupid.
But in the first scene, I was like, is that
Bradley Cooper. I was having a real tough time with that.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
Oh, so I knew. I knew that casting, so I
knew that was him.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
I didn't know it, and I'm like, yeah, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (44:15):
They announced that a couple of months ago. Maybe isn't
the most publicized one. Yeah, I didn't know who the
lady was. I was like, is that lady Gaga? For
a second, could tell? Yeah. I was like, tell if
they got the squad back together?

Speaker 1 (44:25):
There is that Bradley? I thought they were both Bradley Cooper.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
Here'll we get a mid credit and a post credit.
Here the mid credit Superman and Crypto looking back at
the Earth from the moon. It's just a nice little shot.
The post credit was interesting to me. You have Superman
and Miss Terrific looking at a building that didn't quite
get put back together. So I'm curious if that means
that that rift is still a little over.

Speaker 1 (44:49):
Why didn't Superman use his strength and just push it
back a little bit?

Speaker 2 (44:53):
Yeah, yeah, I know tectonic plates. Maybe I don't know.

Speaker 1 (44:56):
I was about that that so I said to you,
it's a very gun like ending because it could mean something,
but it's really more there to be silly.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
Yeah, to build the dynamic between supermanim's terrific, and James
Gunn has said he's not going to utilize them mid
in post credits the same way the MCU has to
like introduce stuff. So maybe it means nothing, But I
was curious about that.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
Oh peacemaker in this that might have gotten the biggest
pop in my theater.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Oh really, yeah, yeah, I was like I was expecting
to see him at some point. That way they used
him was pretty good. With the talking head show that
was that was not bad. We get the quick Maxwell
Lord scene too of him talking about both conservatives and
liberals hate Lex Luthor. Oh, he's also the one funding
the Justice Gang, so there's like similar interest things going

(45:48):
on there. He's sort of like an enemy of Luthor.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
Do you see yourself in Lex Luthor?

Speaker 2 (45:53):
I mean, balds usually stick together, but that's a tough one.

Speaker 1 (45:55):
No, you said, I'm behind this guy.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
You know what I did like is when he dropped
his office out of the building and it became a ship.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
That was cool. I also I do love the line
and it's in one of the trailers. By the way,
this is the first time that after a movie I
went and I watched all the trailers again the Lex
Luthor line of you call yourself Superman, but you're not
a man, You're an it Like, that's a fucking great line.
It's really mean, well delivered, and it's really mean because

(46:26):
all Clark wants to do is to be a good human.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
And Lex couldn't care less about being a good human.
It's a great dynamic.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
Because Lex also he believes that brain should be the
most important thing in the world, and people are fawning
over Braun and he cannot stand it.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
Yeah, it's a good dynamic that I love it. Yeah,
that's really good.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
Also, and this was another scene that was released as
a YouTube clip. I think they showed it. I want
to like the late night shows. But when Lex takes
the dog and Superman goes into his office, Rose the
desk pushes Michael Lee and Black Luthor is just sitting
there drinking coffee, kind of needling at him, poking at
him because he knows that Superman's not gonna hurt him.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Yeah, it's it's good. He's had enough experiences and he
has learned enough about Superman that he literally doesn't have
to fear Superman.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
And even at the end of the movie, Superman doesn't
lay a finger on him. I think Crypto bites him,
little bit, throws him around. But yeah, it isn't Superman. Yeah,
it's not Superman.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
It's a good point. I also really liked and they
were talking about this in the week's leading up to
the movie. This is one of the best things that
the old DCU did, the Snyder verse did with the voice. Yeah,
explain Batman's voice change with a little modulator. One of
the best things instantly that this universe has done is
saying that Superman has these hypnoglasses, simple as that. We're

(47:50):
gonna believe all these kaijus, all these fucking things. I
can believe that he's got magical glasses. Why not?

Speaker 1 (47:55):
You know what I would do is if I was Batman,
say Bruce Wayne, I would talk like this. I would
talk like goo, nice beautiful deep voice, velvet, if you would.
And then when I put the cowl on, Hey, y'all
me Batman, who wants to fight?

Speaker 2 (48:09):
He's just a zesty bat I also liked that Guy
Gardner gave up this information and gave up the Clark KT.
That was a good scene between Yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
That was a pretty funny scene. And then also at
the end of the movie, Perry's like, how long have
they been hooking up? For?

Speaker 2 (48:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (48:25):
Oh so Jimmy is so First off, in the comics,
he's pretty much just his sidekick. He's the goofy sidekick,
and this he's a ladies man. He's got a rolodex,
a leather book of phone numbers, and one of those
is Lex Luthor's current girlfriend. What is her name, Mutant Toes?
Mutant Toes, Her name is Eve.

Speaker 2 (48:44):
So this is the only thing I felt like that
would be divisive from this movie. Is this all find
everything out? Little for this is really convenient and it
makes her look super smart. Not to say that she's
not smart, but it's very convenient that she has all
of this shit. So that's another thing I didn't quite care.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
Also, show us the feet, Yeah, show.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Me the goddamn toes. If you're gonna amor Mutant Toes,
show me the toes.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
I'll be extra like, have her walking dog food or something.
Let us catch a whiff.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
It's a it's a good to me. It's good borderline
great you're saying it's a great movie.

Speaker 1 (49:27):
And final question on this movie, and first of is
there anything else that's coming to you. I feel like
I'm forgetting a lot, but I really did enjoy this movie.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
No, I enjoy the shit out of it, and it's
it more has me excited for what's gonna happen going
forward than I am necessarily excited about this movie.

Speaker 1 (49:43):
Because not only this, so James gunn It's not like
he's just controlling the Superman stuff. He's writing and directing
other shows with DC and he's in charge of all
of it. So they're all gonna have He's already talked
about this is that he doesn't want any of his
shows or movies to feel the same as anything else
in the universe. But if it's gonna have the gun

(50:06):
attention to detail, we're gonna get good stuff here. Man.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
Yeah. I think the next movie after Supergirl is Swamp
Thing Swamp Dang. So that's like you're gonna have constant
shifts and then when they all come meet up that
I mean, that'll be fun to look forward.

Speaker 1 (50:19):
Because gun has also talked about this is that he believes,
and probably because he is a writer director, that he
believes that directors should really have their imprint on these movies.

Speaker 2 (50:29):
And honestly, when the MCU was at its best. You
have each director it gets to put a little spin.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
Well on you need to think about this. And I
know that some people got sick of this, but before
James Gunn, a lot of those movies looked and felt
the same.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
They let weed and put a spin on stuff.

Speaker 1 (50:47):
James Gunn stepped in there, flipped it on its head,
and then, for better or worse, the MCU kind of
took on what gun did to a lighter extent.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
Yeah. No, you're right. Weed was able to do it
in the Event movies. And then because Guardians crushed it
so much, they were like, Oh, this is a new avenue,
we can go down.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
This is funny, this is action pack. Let's try and
do this every time. And then Phase three was that
for all the movies, and then we lost a little
bit of something something.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
But that's a little steam there. Okay.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
So you don't believe in any universe that Pattinson's Batman
could be rolled into here because I think, looks why.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
All I'm saying is he's not. He doesn't exist in
this universe. Maybe with this pocket universe stuff he could.
He's he's I mean, obviously in an alternate universe. I
just don't know they're gonna have to use that to
potentially bring him in. I will say that the serious
tones in this movie could work with with Pattinson, but

(51:45):
there's just no way Batinson exists in this world.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
I'm saying looks wise in style of movie wise, like
the look of the movie. I think that they are
polar opposites and that works for the characters.

Speaker 2 (51:58):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
Also, I don't think it is gonna happen, because they've
already been talking about the scripts for Brave in the
Bold is almost done, and then once that happens, they
can cast their Batman, and Coorn Sweat has talked about
people wanting a big, fantastical Batman.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
I also saw an interview and Gunn said that this
Superman has already met this universe as Batman. So I
in knowing what the Brave in the Bold is potentially about,
we're probably talking about if Superman's thirty Batman might be
like forty five, a little bit older taking on a
younger guy.

Speaker 1 (52:32):
Well, if it's the Brave and the Bold Batman, he'd
be he'd be old enough to have a ten year old,
twelve year old son. So yeah, so there you go,
which I am so excited for You can get the
whole bat family in there. You can have an adult
Dick Grayson who hates Bruce Wayne in there.

Speaker 2 (52:48):
I mean, seeing how James gun handles cast of characters
and weird characters. We definitely will get the batfan.

Speaker 1 (52:54):
I want his hands, I want his imprints like a
fine Bertucci's dough. Want him in there. They can sponsor us,
by the way. I want him in there. With the
casting of these.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
Movies, I agree.

Speaker 1 (53:07):
Oh my goodness, Superman up here, Buddy Eyes up here,
I'm gonna fly away.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
Four thumbs up.

Speaker 1 (53:14):
Yeah, four thumbs up. And if we had more thumbs
we'd do it.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
I give it thirty five to thirty six thumbs up.

Speaker 1 (53:21):
I give it ten disgusting toes, and I'll show you
my toes. Let's get into Max Sack and Mac. Sac
could be anything. It could be about Mac. In the past,

(53:41):
we have taken on the summer like no one else
ever has. Usually we'll do a hashtag with the food.
Our most popular of the bunch meatball sub summer. I
just meatball summer, I believe, actually, but usually I'd be
consuming many meatballs. I had to stop one summer because
I had a colon issue. But meatball summer, I believe

(54:01):
we've done twice. I think we've tried Buffalo chicken summer.
Maybe maybe Italian sandwich summer. You're not a big fan
of that, but I will say this, there is no
more thirst quenching sandwich in the hot, hot sun than
a delicious Italian.

Speaker 2 (54:16):
I don't want you to describe a sandwich's thirst questioning
ever Again.

Speaker 1 (54:20):
I was eating an Italian this past Sunday.

Speaker 2 (54:23):
You're just getting so much liquid. You're like, I am so,
I am so hydrated.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
And as I was also taking a sip in my DDP,
my diet doctor Pepper, I said, Mama, Mia, this Italian
sandwich maya. It's a thirst quench but I'm ready to introduce.
You can say no to this, but if you say no,
you have to have your own thing. So you can't
say no because there's nothing written in the fucking dock.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (54:48):
What I did just before Father's Day, I treated myself
just like Danny Pottie when talking to Larry King, What
do you enjoy A nice cup of and it sock?
So you got yeah, leter, I'm on fucking ductails. I
went out and I bought forty pairs of socks.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
Oh okay, I have sense.

Speaker 1 (55:11):
Then because I changed my socks twice a day. I
wear one of the gym, then I wear one to work.
I have known where my socks are, They're in the bag.
And I've had fresh socks twice a day going up
against my tootsies. I have been living like a fucking
king yeod.

Speaker 2 (55:31):
I mean, you're late to the game here. I don't
want to blow your mind. I blew your mind a
little bit with the three hamper strategy, you know, switching
things up. I have so many pairs of socks that
I barely wear the same sock twice over in a
couple months spent. So I have day to day socks
right that draw, that's the bigger draw. I have a
draw of work socks, longer socks that I wear at
work like could fit in a work boot sort of thing.

Speaker 1 (55:53):
Cock socks.

Speaker 2 (55:54):
Then the third dross cock socks, cocks, and I have
like dress socks slash like novelty socks that I would
wear it to a particular event. Three separate draws.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
If I was in charge of the MTV Awards and
the Red Hot Chili peppers walked out there with just
socks on their cocks. I'd say, guys, that's funny. Go
put some clothes on.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
Though, How prety pairs of white socks do you own?

Speaker 1 (56:17):
I have a couple.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
I have like six pairs.

Speaker 1 (56:19):
I usually wear them with like snow boots.

Speaker 2 (56:21):
Though, No, you gotta wear when you wear a white shoe,
you gotta wear white sock. It looks weird.

Speaker 1 (56:25):
Otherwise I don't own white shoes. Oh you don't wear
my sarge.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Let me let me, let me get you on something.
White shoes. They look spiffy.

Speaker 1 (56:33):
Are they new balance?

Speaker 2 (56:35):
No? One of them is a pair of Sketchers. Actually
it's the s So.

Speaker 1 (56:40):
First off, the hashtag for the summer is hashtag new
Sock Summer. But you spell new with an n U,
like new metal.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
Like I thought earlier. When I saw this, I thought
you were doing no sock summer, and then I thought
a minute later I was like, no, lease talking about
new metal.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
So guys, head to Target, head to Walmart, head to
Walgreens wherever your next big department store, or go online,
go to Amazon. We just passed prime day, wait for
the next one. Order yourselves as many socks as you
can afford.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
Here's the life act. At least I had my grandmother
for like every year for Christmas would get me so
much socks in underway. I never had to buy them myself.
That was my constant resupply.

Speaker 1 (57:21):
I just have bags of socks in my basement right now.
I'm so happy. I've never been happier. So back to
what I was just gonna say, before the sock thing,
or in the middle of the sock thing. I got
to text the other day from old friend of the show,
Sean Silver. Okay, it was our ten year anniversary of
the first time that we had met. The first time
that we had ever met was we wrote and produced

(57:44):
a rap for Sarge Mike Riley that catapulted him into stardom.
People thought that he had hired a real music got married.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
Congratulations with Sarge, and.

Speaker 1 (57:57):
A big point of the song, and Sean and I
talked about this was Storge bracking about how white his
shoes are.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
I'll tell you it's real Niche talking about Boston sports
radio here. Yeah, but they touched the sun with ninety
eight mile for a couple of years there. That was
some of the best radio going. That was phenomenal because
of stuff like that. You had writing teams for these
tertiary characters that like turned them into like actual radio person.

Speaker 1 (58:25):
Now, Sean and I sat in an edit booth for
an hour writing and prepping like background music for them.
We got the vocals, and then we just we got
to work.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
Love it.

Speaker 1 (58:37):
We had never met prior to that. Yeah, this was
our meeting point.

Speaker 2 (58:41):
And then like shortly after, he was on the Mac
and Goop program.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
From the Mac and Goop program discussing why he didn't
like David Price. I guess he was right. Credit to
Sean credits. Ah. But oh also, I was a ten
year anniversary when I met my wife too.

Speaker 2 (58:57):
How about that while you were writing the Starge Wrap.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
I think it was during that same month. Yeah, what
a month. What a month that was? And now look
at me. I have bags of new socks.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
Bags under your eyes, bags of new socks, all bags.

Speaker 1 (59:13):
What is this a roast? Oh Goo's got so many
bags because it sucks. He's old, he's tired, no respect. Yeah,
what's up?

Speaker 2 (59:28):
Yeah, that's gonna just good. Tell the people where they
can find us, because I'm tired. I got bags, That's
what baby think.

Speaker 1 (59:35):
I got bags. I'm going on a trip bags.

Speaker 2 (59:41):

and buy yourself. Treat yourself to some socks. Big movie
summer continues. I think next week we don't have anything. No,
we have Smurfs. Smurfs next week. I'm seeing it on Sunday.
I'm pretty jazz Rihanna's Smurfs two words, she's smurf at.

(01:00:33):
I'm sure she puts a little something on it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I'd really like the smurf Rihanna.

Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
In my household. Right now, we are using smurf as
adjectives and verbs all over the place. So, oh, smurf me, baby,
that's me and my wife. Oh you smurfing like that,
I'm gonna smurf, which, like, what does it even mean?

(01:01:00):
Because usually it means he's gonna throw up? Uh, So
after Smurfs, we're not doing Smurfs Fantastic four.

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Yeah, what we need to do next week is iron
Heart or twenty eight years later.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
Okay, so I am, I don't try twenty eight. Let
me try it. I'll try twenty eight, but I am
midway through episode three of iron Heart.

Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Iron Heart might be a good lead into.

Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Okay, here we go, news dump on Goosday, iron Heart
on Friday. I will get it done by then. I
should have the irone minute.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
Monday, and then that Friday would be fant fur stick.

Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
We need to do news dumps. People love news dumps.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
You should also see twenty eight years Later. It's that good.

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
Where can I find it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
At the cinema?

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
Hey, Centners is available on match right now if you
have it, highly recommend.

Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
I saw the other Billy D. Not actually I saw
the first Billy D G B D. Well, No, it
wasn't Billy D. Williams and it wasn't William Daniels, but
it was the third Billy d Billy Delaney, and I
was telling him, like, watch Sinners. It's on Max.

Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
It's really hasn't seen it.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
He hasn't seen yet, And I'm like, like, this is
a really weird compliment to pay to a movie. But
it looks like real.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
And also I think anyone and Billy's a big music fan. Yeah,
anyone that has a certain relationship with music will really
love Sinners.

Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
But also like, like, there's sky in it, there's grass.
It looks like real.

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
I re watched it the other day. I'm not going
to lower my dog score because it is so great.
I'm still bothered that the Native Americas just go away. Yeah,
it was pretty stupid. That was the stupidest thing about
the movie.

Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
That's all I got.

Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
The Steinfeld lines still hold up, though, Sweet Hotchi Machi,
I'd like to smurf.

Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Her, and Mac grabbed a cocksack and smurfed all day. Alright,
tuesdays are goosdays, I abuse kangaroos, hashtag news, sock summer tamburton.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
