Speaker 1 (00:00):
The studio cleans up at the Emmys, we have new
The Batman, two details, Superman to the Max. Mark Hamill says,
the spoof list is out and Goo Loves Peacemaker.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
All of that and so much more coming up here
on News Up. But first, Mac, I'm surprised you didn't
bring this up. It's kind of, you know, insensitive of you.
But Robert Redford, at the age of eighty nine, has
passed away.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
I just learned this about ten minutes ago. I just
saw this. Yeah, so one of the greatest actors of
all time, right, one of the most influential actors of
all time. He's been around forever. He's been acting for
what seventy years. So if you've seen a movie, you've
probably seen a movie with Robert Redford in it. He
was great in his role in the MCU as a
(00:50):
director or something whatever the.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Fuck is name right after something what the fuck his
name was? That's what.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, I got nothing bad to say about Robert.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Redford, actor, director, Environmentalists. He won an Academy Award for
Best Director for Ordinary People, also had three other gnoms.
He also was nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for
Favorite actor in a drama or romance in the horse Whisper.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Okay, all right, there's that's fun fact about him.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I would also toss this out there, maybe one of
the best names of all time.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
It is a great name.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
It's an amazing name.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Great name, powerful name.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
It's a literation. It's powerful. Right, you can shorten up,
go Bobby reds It sounds like a tree, right, A Redford.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, I like that. I like the connection you're drawing there.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
So we just did a great job thinking back to
Robert Redford news d.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Over.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
At the box office this past weekend, a movie called
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaba led the way seventy million dollars.
It is the highest grossing anime of all time in
its first week, I believe.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Is it related to the K Pop One?
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Now, not related to the K Pop one, but both
distributed by Sony.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Lots of sligh of demons going around. Is that are
in the Demon slayannaissance?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
It seems like we're in the Demon slayannaissance right now,
right because like obviously we go in ebbs and flows.
We're out of the zombi sans or are we getting
back into the zombisance.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
We could. We are.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
We're in spooky season right now. We're also one hundred
days away from Christmas.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Who on the nose?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
On the nose? I saw it earlier. One of those
retro date things showed up on my ex account, and
it was Barney and Fred sharing a delicious bowl of
fruity pebbles, saying, we are one hundred days away from Christmas.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Did you open the first flap on your one hundred
day advent calendar?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yes? I did, and I popped out a couple fruity pebbles.
And to be fair, though, every day leading up to
Christmas is more fruity pebbles.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, and eventually you'll have a whole bowl, because it
takes eight thousand fruity pebbles to fill up a bowl.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
I'm more of a cocoa boy, if you ask me, really,
I'm a cocoa boy.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
I'm a fruity pebbles greater than cocoa pebbles.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Fruity pebbles are delicious, and I'm not saying this as
a knock against fruity pebbles, but it tastes a little
like a pot pourri.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I think the greatest tasting milk on the planet is
post fruity pebbles. Milk tricks is close. Tricks with berries
is close. No, not tricks. What am I thinking of?
What's the one with the rabbit tricks? Yeah, tricks? I
was confusing tricks and kicks.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Kicks are for kids because their mother approved.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Right, right, and tricks are the ones that the kids want,
you know, silly rabbit tricks are for kids, right that
milk post tricks, post fruity pebbles. Amazing.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I was gonna ask you this because I just mentioned that,
you know, pop purri smells delicious? What is the non
edible object that you think would taste the best?
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Every once in a while, you get like a scented
candalo that you're like, I bet this might okay, if
I took a bite, I wouldn't regret it.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Not the same thing. But often when I'm cooking, I'll like,
you know, take a little taste of whatever I'm cooking,
and I almost always accidentally eat raw chicken and I
stopped myself. Not the same thing, But.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Would you ever should do it for a laugh? Take
a bite out of a raw chicken breast?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Who am I getting a laugh from?
Speaker 1 (04:23):
It's a great question. I don't know. I don't know
who the audience.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Is, Okay, so once we find the audience will figure
this out. The Conjuring in its second week, The Last
Rites of Course, twenty five million dollars, down seventy percent
from its Week one down to Abbey the Grand Finale
almost twenty million dollars in its opening weekend. Toy Story
four came in fifth, and its re release thirtieth anniversary
(04:47):
for Toy Story Let's Jump all the way down to
number nine, Spinal Tap two The End Continues made one
and a half million bucks.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Have you heard anything about this movie yet?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Did dork do a review about because I saw they
were supposed to. Actually I think they did. I only
saw a bit of their Lucas Giolito interview. I didn't
see all right, okay, and let's see here just it
just edged out. The sixtieth anniversary release of the Sound
of Music.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Oh you know, I have never seen the Sound of Music.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Goo, you're a musical boy too. Go and check that out.
I think you'll actually like that.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Okay, all right, I'll add it to the listoo.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Seven hours long, but you should go and check that out.
News Joe.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Mac.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
The Emmys were this past Sunday. Nate bagat Si was
the host. I saw that he got mixed reviews. But
the two things that I saw he did a sketch
about the invention of television with some SNL guys that
was pretty funny. And then he also did a if
you go over, so he donated one hundred thousand dollars
(05:52):
to the Boys and Girls Club. But if you go
over your forty five second acceptance speech, every second you
go over, it loses ten thousand dollars or something like that.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Uh, that's a pretty funny mechanic to get people to
shut the fuck up. I love Nate Bargatzi. I think
he's the best clean comic in the game.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Better than me.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Well, you say cunt too often, so I do.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
And I also eat raw chicken.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah. However, his style of comedy isn't necessarily conducive to
hosting things, so I could see how he wouldn't be
the greatest at that, But I do. Tennessee Kid's one
of my favorite stand ups from the last I don't know,
fifteen twenty years. It's fucking awesome. He is. He is
so good at self deprecation, he's really fucking funny. I
(06:40):
love Nate Bergozzi.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Leading the way. At the Emmys, the studio picked up
thirteen awards. Seth Rogan was the big winner for a
Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Best Director, and Best Writing.
I only watched one episode of this show.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
I was just gonna ask you if you've ever finished it.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
So the reason why is because my my Apple account
ran out on that second week, and I said that
first episode was not strong enough for me to pay
money to keep this app.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I get that, I understand what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
I also hated the utahk I talk conversation style.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
That's not very.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Also, Hollywood loves Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Yeah, I that. You know, in a movie or two hours,
you can deal with that sort of writing, but a
whole season's worth. And again, you only watch one episode.
I don't watch any if the whole seasons like that,
that really starts to weigh on you, where it's like, oh,
it's there's for some reason, everyone's just letting everyone else
finish their statements.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
It's also single cams or not single cam. It was
it was one shots, so the camera would whip back
and forth in the middle of the conversations.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Okay, I don't care for that.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Nine awards for the Penguin, including Kristen Ameliati, who won
the Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Limited Series.
It was also confirmed by Matt Reeves, and we'll talk
about him in a second. She will not for The
Batman two.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Well, she was not in The Batman. No, her father was,
so I don't know why they need to confirm, but
she won't return for The Batman.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Also, she'll probably return in this series, either in a
television show or in The Batman three when that comes
out in forty years. Adolescent picked up nine awards. Ohen
Cooper became the youngest male actor to win an Emmy.
The dad from that show also won.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Am I supposed to know what Adolescences? It was?
Speaker 2 (08:26):
That four part series about the kid who got arrested
for murder.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Never heard of it?
Speaker 2 (08:31):
All right, it's British. Yeah, you love British shit, britesch
I love this shit. That's for Major League two. That's
a good quote for me. Because he was watching soccer.
I think Lou Brown he was watching soccer. Yeah, I
think where was he? He was watching some kind of
a British He was watching something British Okay, scrap the
last three to four seconds. I was just talking there.
(08:54):
Severance eight awards, including Britt Lauer. She won the Emmy
for Best Lead Actress Drama Series. Trammell Tillman also won
for Best Supporting Actor. On the back of BRIT's award speech,
it said, let me out a little nod to the show.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Awesome little easter egg. I don't think she was even
did she even get nominated for season one? I feel
like I remember us talking about how she didn't even
get nominated for season one, But we spent a lot
of time we relate to the game, or you relate
to the game on seven season one, but Severan's viewers
have spent a lot of time talking about how amazing
(09:31):
of a job she did because she was playing essentially
two different characters in the same character, and that's really
fucking hard to do, and she was making it believable
and little quirks she was adding to each character was
very impressive. So that is a well deserved win.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
No Severance lost to the Pit because the Pit picked
up five awards, and that means that I think the
guy from the Pit beat out Adam Scott. Maybe I
don't know. Yes, he did beat out Adam Scott The Pit.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Can't bring myself to watch The Pit. Everyone seems to
love it. I can't bring myself to watch it.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I always stop eating the peach before I get to
that point. Let me go to and Or. That picked
up five awards, including Best Writing in a Drama Series.
I'll get to it.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
So we've mentioned the studio, the Penguin, Adolescents, Severance, and
Or in the Pit, and I have only seen the
Penguin in Severance.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
TV is for the Birds.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, agreed, he's damp.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Let's get over to the Batman too. We have details
so far. Failming will start around April twenty twenty six.
It's like three or four years away. We're so far away.
Bruce Wayne is finding it very hard to be Batman.
So we are going to get more of a Bruce
Wayne story in this one, as opposed in the first one,
where it was Batman first, Bruce Wayne second takes Batman
(10:51):
in a direction never done before. In this way.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I'm sort of on the fence on this one because
I like watching these movies to watch as kicking and
fund shit like that. However, because of the Gotham that
Matt Reeves built out in the first movie and expounded
upon in The Penguin. I'm actually pretty interested in seeing
(11:15):
how Bruce Wayne operates in that city and in that
political landscape, social landscape. And because it's a very or
I shouldn't say realistic, it's a world sort of. We
haven't seen superpowers yet, so it's a little more believable.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
He survived that squirrel set, that.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
A Bruce Wayne can do some stuff. I'm interested. I'm
interested to see.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
How it'll be another murder mistery Dinny deeper into the
corruption of Gotham. Penguin appears in five to six scenes.
Sophiafl Cone will not appear like I said earlier, and
Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson believe it will be top
It'll be top of the will top the film whatever.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson believe it will top the
first film, which I think will be hard to do. However,
we saw that happen in the last Batman trilogy, and
I believe I only gave this one thirty nine hot dogs,
so it can it can get to forty.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
I gave it thirty nine as a thought that the
second one could be better.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson, and Jeff McNamara believe it will
top the first film.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Do you think that? They asked matt Reeves that they're like, oh,
what do you give your first one? Hot dogs wise
and He's like thirty nine, But I'm leaving a little
bit of space there for my second lefty dog.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Open the.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
News, don't thinking up. Matt Reeves, speaking of the Batman,
he spoke about the Penguin. He was asked about the
Penguin season two. He said the priority right now is
to figure out if they'll make a Penguin season two,
but he also said, there are absolutely other characters that
we have talked about doing the I believe we would
(13:02):
have the opportunity of making a spin off with that's
do that, ye do that, but include the penguin.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Penguin was a great season of television. The Penguin is
not Batman's greatest adversary. And we also were kind of
done with the Penguin story a bit there, you know,
like I don't need two or three seasons of the Penguin.
What I would want is other kind of B level
Batman villains that are operating in and around Gotham. I
(13:29):
want more of that Penguin Rogues gallery. Sure Penguin can
pop up, you know, I don't want a Penguin season two.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
He is dead confirmed this week. We talked about it.
Last week Shim and I. James Gunn said that Superman
Alex Luthor will work together to fight a much bigger
threat in Man of Tomorrow. Filming starts in twenty twenty six.
This is via I believe he was on the Howard
Stern Show.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I mean it makes sense considering the scope of what
DC is building, right and what James Gunn is building.
We've got our one story. We've just been on Planet Earth.
I think very quickly, especially after the Lanterns series, it's
gonna go galactic and it's gonna be much bigger than
Planet Earth. And in that sense, I think it makes
(14:16):
sense that Lex Luthor and Superman may team up against
an extraterrestrial threat.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I might have preferred maybe waiting until a third movie
to have them team up, but if he has it
all planned out, whatever.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yeah, or you know, they'll team up, but then there'll
be a fallout in the culmination of the second movie.
That'll lead to their final you know, big showdown in
the third movie.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Like Lex being in a giant suit being like, I
could probably fight Superman in this one.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
A what A what A.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Well he won't have to do that. He can fight himself.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
I didn't like that scene.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
And a lot of people, Yeah, that's because you're anti Balt.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
That's what everyone knows about me.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Superman. He is heading well not just him, but the
entire game, the Superman Gang, everyone from Metropolis. They're all
adding to HBO Max on September nineteenth, which is in
three days.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Oh that's a December. Yeah, well great, grand wonderful. I'll
watch it in three days.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah, very excited about it. If you haven't checked it
out yet, you didn't want to see it in theaters,
you didn't want to pay vo D for it. It's
free if you have.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
A friendly mother approved.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
It is like that call back, right, they're good. Speaking
of Superman the Superman, David corn Sweat says that he
is a big fan of jar Jar Binks.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Am I a fan of jar Jar Binks? I don't
know if I hate oh her love him? I have
no idea. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
We recently, how when did we watch the Phantom Menace?
It was last year?
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yes, he stinks, No, he stinks, Mac, what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Okay? All right, I don't know. I like David Kortzwett.
He just kind of suade me by.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
I'm such a big fan of David Koren Sweat that
when he says he likes Jar Jar binks, I says me, thinks,
I like, thanks, I like, and then I just start
talking with that dialect and lose my job. News up.
Speaking of Star Wars, Mark Hamill says, what does he
(16:14):
say that he only came back for the sequel series
because Harrison Ford did.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Oh god, it's so fucking frustrating thinking back to the
Luke Skywalker we got in the sequel trilogy. What did
he he did? What? His his force projection did a
cool thing. We spent two movies building up to that
point and didn't really get Luke Skywalker. Meanwhile, we got
(16:46):
Han solo in the full first movie that was a
part of his hog out. It's very frustrating that we
got more Hansul than Luke Skywalker's.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Well no, but also so I'm fully with mar Camel here.
He's like, I don't really want to do this again.
He's like, but if Harrison Ford does it, I'll do it.
And then he sees Forward signs on for god knows
how much money. He's like, shit, now I have to
do it.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
And he got to get out after a first movie
and Mark had to come back right although Mark was
in the first movie for what eight seconds?
Speaker 2 (17:16):
But then, Matt, can you please tell people what Mark
Hamill said about the Mandalorian and having his character jump
back into that series.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Mark Hamill said, you never got to see Luca as
a master Jedi at the peak of his powers. He
was the most idealistic character in that series. He was
someone who would take adversity and double down and come
back and counter setbacks. We didn't see any of that.
So when I got that chance, I thought, geez, this
is wonderful. I think John Favreau and Dave Filoni, boy
do they get Star Wars. They get it. They're speaking
(17:46):
the same language that George did in a way that
I questioned in the sequels. That was via the Hollywood Reporter.
I understand what he's saying because they're very good at
fan service, which is of what this is. Luke at
his peak, at the end of Mandalorian season two or
season one.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Well, he's also he's saying, you saw Luke at the
beginning of his journey with the original trilogy and then
the end of his journey with the sequel trilogy, but
you didn't see him, you know, Master Jedi.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Right. You just get a couple of cool scenes in
Return of the Jedi, but you don't see Luke out
there just doing his thang. And I think that's why
people love Ahsoka so much, because she, in many ways
became the character we wanted Anakid to be and we
wanted Luke to be, and so a lot of Star
Wars fandom, I think has attached themselves to ah Soka
(18:39):
for that reason, and she's just a cool character. I'll
always take Luke Skywalker. But to piggyback off what Mark
Hamill was echoing, I don't think we ever should see
him again, right, Mark Hamil doesn't want to do it anymore.
Will never really make sense to bring him back in
a story again, other than I guess for fan service reasons.
I don't know if they're like Mark Luke Skywards in
(19:01):
this I'm like, all right, I'm gonna fucking watch it.
But I'm probably gonna be annoyed as to why he's
in it.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
I mean he also ends this quote obviously here with
like obviously praising Felony and Favreau. But then you know
JJ Abrams and Ryan Johnson and the writers of the
sequels that they don't quite get it.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
See I disagree with that. I think J. J Abrams
got it. I mean that first movie was a perfect
value toss it up in the air for someone to
slam dunk it, and he had it set up perfectly.
Say what you want about J. J. Abrams, Say what
you want about the Force Awake. Force Awakens. It set
up a trilogy perfectly, and it obviously didn't work out well.
(19:38):
That is actually probably Dave Filoni's fault, right should shouldn't
have been you know, overseeing that more.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Kathleen Kennedy, you ready for this? What it's someone's fault.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
And I would say that John also not to not
to you know, be a little ce next Tuesday here,
I've already said it one. I want to say it again.
Johnsh Favro gets it. Dave Filoni has a brain with
a lot of Style Wars knowledge in it. And if
you have someone that wants to pick that knowledge out
and get rid of the stupid stuff that Dave Filoni likes.
(20:14):
Then he makes really good stuff also.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
And this is not in here, but he was asked
about playing the Joker again. Of course, Mark Hamill famously
the voice of the Joker from the animated Serious Slash,
the Arkham series, Slash, a lot of other Batman properties,
and what he used to do is that whatever they
would call him about voicing the Joker again, his only
question was is Kevin Conroy doing it? And if the
(20:38):
answer was yes, he would immediately do it. Kevin Conroy
passed away, I believe last year, so that puts an
end to that. He's not coming back.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Oh look at that. So he's just closing all those books,
all those chapters.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
He's doing a bunch of other stuff. Now he's acting.
He's not starring in movies, but he's popping up. He's
doing good work.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
I would like Mark Hamill to pop up in a
new season of Kirby Enthusiasm, even though Curb is probably done.
That would be nice, mark Hamill playing Mark Hamill.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
News deap Fantastic four is being released on digital on
September twenty third, that is soon.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
That is a week week somewhere around there. Yeah, something
like that. Now that a couple months have passed, goo,
and we can evaluate Fantastic Four and Superman through a
little uh less biased views. How do you feel about
these two movies?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
I fairly assessed the whole situation, gave them both an
ocular pat down. I knew that the Thunderbolts is better
than Fantastic Four, and I sided with Superman as well.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
You think Fantastic Four is the third best movie of
those three? Yes, I think it's the best movie of
those three.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Wow. Okay, we are on different sides.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
We are on different sides of the coin.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
There, do flip that coin. See what happens though.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
I think Superman's the second best, and I have Thunderbolts third,
and you have Thunderbolts.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
First, Underbolts Fantastic four.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Okay, all right, we are wildly off.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Then, Yeah, what makes us different? That makes us great?
But also what makes us similar?
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Actually, well, we agree that Superman is better than Thunderbolts.
So there's our common ground.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
We just did it. We fucking did it. News dope,
the show that we love, season one of is starting tomorrow.
Did you know this was happening. It popped up out
of nowhere yesterday.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
We got a trailer last week, so I was somewhat aware,
and it looks like it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Have gen V season two.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
By the way, gen V season two, we're gonna have
more Boys characters in. It's gonna be a little bit
more of a crossover, and I think gen V Season
two will appropriately lead into the last season of the Boys.
So tomorrow is it one episode or we're getting like
a three?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
I think it's three and then one after that.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Loved time. I fucking love that. Realalyse schedule news dip.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Last week we got Nintendo Day, Nintendo Direct Day, something
like that where they have all their release is. One
of the big pieces of news from this day is
that on April third, twenty twenty six in theaters Super
Mario Galaxy so good.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
I are ignorant to this series of games or game.
I know. I super Mario Galaxy is a game. I
don't know what happens in it, but that first Super
Mario World movie was good enough that I'm in on
them opening up.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
The first one was Super Mario Brothers. I thought they
were gonna go World in two, and then Galaxy in three.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
That would make sense because.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Now you go Galaxy, you can't shrink it back down
to world.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, I agree, I totally agree. But the animation is
fun looking. That movie was good enough. I'm in on
this movie.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Oh I didn't tell you. I went to Super Mario
Land Super Nintendo Land when I was in Universal. I
told Seime. He was impressed. Can you be impressed too? WHOA?
Speaker 1 (23:50):
What was your favorite part about it? Just?
Speaker 2 (23:52):
The attention to detail is nuts. There's only one ride
over there right now. I went to the one in
Los Angeles. If you go to the one in Orlando,
they have the Donkey Kong stuff over there too. I
would like to see that. But the Mario Kart stuff
was cool, cool, Slower than you'd expect.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Though.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
News did Age twenty four is nearing a deal to
buy the rights for Texas Chainsaw Massacre. First project will
be a TV series produced by J. T. Mulner and
Glenn Powell. He's from Texas.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
I don't want to rehash Texas Chainsaw Masaker. I don't
think when we talk about it all the time, especially
with Halloween and somewhat with Friday thirteenth, there's not really
meat left on the bone.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
For Texas Slashers in general. I mean they've had a
nice little resurgence, but like slashers in general, that's not
where the crowds are.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
And also, like at least in Halloween, you kind of
have a rooting interest in The Killer Thirteenth. The setting
is fun sexas James saw amasker, I'm not rooting for
anything in that movie.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Also, I think they've tried to reboot the series twice now, yeah,
and it hasn't done shit right. So Also, what I
find to be scary or appealing about the first one
from nineteen seventy six is, first off, it's one of
the first slasher movies credit there. Also, it looks like
a home video and I feel disgusted while watching it. Yes, yes,
(25:26):
everything now is way too polished.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
Totally agree, is Dea.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Speaking of scary movies, Scary Movie six, Marlon Waine's first
off confirmed that he'll be in the movie Shorty Is Back.
He also put out a list of recent horror movies
that could be spoofed in Scary Movie six. He said,
Sinners Get Out, Nope, long Legs heretic, and I know
(25:53):
what you did last summer, which that was spoofed in
the first one.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
It has been long enough that there is enough Ammo
here to do a scary movie. Do we want it?
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Not?
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Really? However, I could see the setting of the like
the general setting of the world and tone in like
a Jordan Peel type of world, you know, kind of
surrounded along that Nope or the get Out type of world,
and then having the other stuff come in. I mean
we'll watch it, right, yeah, don't want to?
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Okay, So here are some predictions here. Let's see, for
get Out, they're gonna spoof it by having on a
Ferris flip it white person, black family.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
It's probably exactly what's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Number two, For Nope, they're gonna have an actual pair
of jeans in the sky flying around.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
For sinners, go ahead, the vampires gonna have the most
vulgar language ever heard.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
For long Legs, it's gonna be someone with stilts or baby.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Do you think they can get Nick Cage for this
movie to spoof himself?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
He doesn't like spoofs. He's anti spoof for heretic sounds
like Harry Dick. So like something's there, you're onto something there,
and then I know what you did last summer. It's
the first movie. Just do the same thing, right, all right,
we just wrote scary movie six?
Speaker 1 (27:22):
How about us?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Good work? News dope speaking of the Batman, Robert Pattinson
and Skyler Gazondo. That sounds made up right. It's me
Skyla Gazondo. They'll reportedly start A twenty four's cry drama primetime.
It follows a journalist who takes on the underbelly of
(27:45):
crime in a unique way and changes TV forever. Reportedly,
it is inspired by To Catch a Predator.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
The noise you made before you said Gazondo's killing me?
You kind of gofad.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
I just read the headline for the first time.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
I'm in. I guess I've it.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah, it's gonna be great. It's A twenty four. It's
Robert Pattinson's To Catch.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
A Predator, Skyler Gazando.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
It's Skyler Gazando. There's done. Let her first look at
Anna Conda starring Paul Rudd and Paul already said Paul
Rudd stars Paul Rudd twice. It's to Paul rudds I wish.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Actually Paul Rudd and Jack Black.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
He's worrying a Paul Rudd Wig. I wouldn't mind. Actually,
if in the movie Paul Rudd plays Jack Black and
Jack Black plays Paul.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Rudd, and they're gonna call it anna uh annac three
Ana Conda.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Well, because Anacona don't want none unless you got bonds.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
I really love the idea of this movie. If there
are two actors that can pull off the boyish charm
needed to like remake in their fifty movie.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
If there's two fifty year old men that the Conda.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
The concept of Paul Runn and Jack Black trying to
remake Ana Conda in the rainforest is funny in and
of itself. So I have high hopes for this.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Especially if it's a Christmas movie it's being released on
Christmas Day.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Love that.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
But also, Death of a Unicorn wasn't very good, so
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
I disagree. I thought it was solid. You're stupid. It
was wasted opportunity, But I thought it was solid.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Speaking of two friends, News Dump, have you heard any
of Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett's podcast? There are five
episodes available right now.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
No. I like both dudes.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
My only issue is that and I've only listened to
a half an hour of one of the episodes. It's
the Mark Maron episode.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
I don't like Mark and it's too.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Much of an interview guest situation. I just want the
two of them to be weird.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Yeah, I agree, Mark Maren just doesn't do it for me,
never has. It's also very opinionated, so that people the
wrong way. I just don't fight him funny. I don't
find him funny at all.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
What I found funny about these two talking to him,
and it was only for like a five minute stretch
is Beck Bennett kept on yes Anddingham to like have
him keep on going, and Kyle Mooney kept on calling
him sir. All right, that's funny enough. In the first episode,
I think they create their theme song. They always introduced
(30:24):
themselves and like describe how they became friends. It's so
like there's something there. I just I don't need them
to interview people.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
No, totally agree, news.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Dimp And finally, if you don't want any spoilers, turn
off the podcast right now. But we are four episodes
into Peacemaker season two. Mac, I kind of love this show.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
It's great. It's great. I think it's much better than
season one. Be for beat. So far, it knows what
it needs to do where season one was just kind
of there. It's it's good, it's good the human stories
are telling in this show.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Or John Cena and I think, uh, James gun might
have talked about this, but like John Cena his acting
ability from season one to this, like he's better.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
He's really good. He's really good. And I really like,
I guess it's sort of low hanging fruit in that
people always wonder about the you know, the alternative timeline,
and we're getting we're watching Peacemaker go through that and
deal with that, and it's it's just a naturally interesting concept.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Always like I'll assume in an alternative timeline we would
have became a Saudi podcast and got all that Saudi money.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Yes, yeah, but instead have done that. We should have
we should have said yes to that offer.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
We have nothing. Also, a big addition to season two,
and one of the reasons why almost every line is
killing me is Tim Meadows. Tim Meadows is so funny
in this between Pokey Man's his responses and also the
so we got the scene of him talking about the
(32:00):
two women, but then they cut back in a post
credit of him them describing the women one bald, one Blonde,
the Peppermint Twins.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
So good. He has the rare ability to be completely
ridiculous in most things he's in and still somehow play
a believable character.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
He took advantage of my bird blindness.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
That killed me.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
They describing ducks, eagles, hummingbirds, it's all the same.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
The concept of bird blindness is unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
So so far, we're four episodes and I think it's
an eight episode series. I love this and it's gonna
lead into Superman too, so let's see what happens here.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Yeah, and you know, in season one of this show,
I thought the best part was like the cash to
characters around Peacemaker, and that's still true and season two
Piece Makers just much better. But I really like the
surrounding cast in this show too. They're all really strong characters.
Is dep
