Stoler Boston University Question School of Business. We talk about
(04:17):
a lot of different stuff here on Nightside, and there's
a lot of work that goes into prepping this show
every night. And that's why I so value people who
find something and are willing to help us and talk
about it. I want to thank all my calls Last Hour,
Patrick down in DC, Terry on the Cape, Nancy and Duxbury,
and Bob in Rhode Island. Or though Bob had to
(04:39):
swim back for Rhode Island again. I think Bob likes
walking the plank. Anyway, here's what we want to talk
about tonight. This is that twentyeth hour. And you know,
we do a lot of topics of what grinds your gears.
We we do our topic that talks about brushes with celebrity,
but we like to incorporate some new ones. And I
(05:01):
have in the last year have become a huge fan
of a Sunday night series. It's called Tracker, stars a
guy named Justin Hartley. It's a great show. It's on
CBS at nine o'clock. Excuse me, CBS at eight o'clock
so it doesn't interfere with Best of It Night Side,
which is on WBZ at eleven o'clock. And it is
(05:24):
a great show. I would love to know how many
of you are out there make a point to watch Tracker.
I know I do every week, and I know that
there are some who have picked up on it. I
also want to hear from you. Is there a show,
a comedy, a drama, or whatever. I'm not talking about movies.
(05:46):
I'm talking about TV shows that for you is really
appointment television. I have always watched sixty minutes and Tracker
is on immediately after for sixty minutes, which is what
I think first got me to watch it. It is
(06:06):
it's well written, it's well acted, there's always a plot
twist or two or three or four. I just I
think it's an amazing show. The more I find out
about it, the more it's it's fast paced, you got
to stay with it, and I just like it. I
(06:30):
just like it. I'm not a big TV show guy.
I never have. I've missed Dallas. I missed all of
those great shows of the eighties and nineties because I
was working in television at night and then I was
working early morning coaching hockey and little league baseball. I
missed all of those shows. But Dallas, Dynasty, every every
(06:53):
there's not a major show that I can go back
and say I watched it. This is one I like.
I really do. So I want to know you'll favorite shows.
And if it happens to be Tracker, that's great, we'll
keep score. If it happens to be something else, that's
great too. Six one, seven, two, five, four to ten
thirty six one seven, nine, three, one ten thirty A
TV show that you really it's it's not on your calendar.
(07:17):
But it's in your mind. It's it's in that that
back of your mind that says, oh, tonight's the night
I want to watch it. And even if you want
to tell me it's on during the week between eight
to midnight, and you don't listen to Night Side, you
watch that show. I'm okay, I'm okay. I won't be
mad at you, I promise. Six one, seven, two, five,
four ten thirty six one seven, nine three one, ten thirty.
(07:39):
We're going right to phone calls right after this quick
break here on night Side.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
You're on night Side with Dan Ray. I'm telling you
Bazy Boston's news radio.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
We're going right to the phones. Let me go to
Maureene and Brockton. Maureen, I'm dying and on what your
favorite TV show is? How are you?
Speaker 3 (07:58):
I am doing great? Dan, I hope you aren't too.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Couldn't be better, couldn't be better? It's Friday night, Tomorrow's
the weekend.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
You know, we do enjoy a number of TV programs,
but what we do is we dv are them and
then it's usually on maybe like during when we're having supper.
You know, we can just you know, watch it.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
So one of the shows that I really.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Enjoy and Jeck does two is It's on Thursday night.
It's on CBS Channel four, and it stars Kathy Bates
and it's called Matlock.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Oh sure, that's been around a while, right.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Well, her show has only been around for two years.
So the original Matlock I think was Andy.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Griffin, right right, right, yeah, how closely, I don't watch.
I worked nights on TV for a long time, then
I worked the early morning shift, and now I've been
doing this show Monday through Friday, from me to midnight.
I'm like the worst guy in the world. People will
ask me about shows. They'll say, do you ever see Cheers?
(08:58):
And I say, yeah, I heard about it, walk by
it on Beacon Street. But I never watched. I never
watched Cheers. I'm the only person in Boston who never
watched Cheers.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
And I have not watched Tracker yet. But the lead
actor that you mentioned now, he was in a one.
He was in a wonderful program and it lasted about
five or six years, and the program was called This
is Us and it was wonderful. It was it was great.
But I will make an effort to watch some Tracker.
(09:34):
But like I said, I love Kathy Bates, John John
ritters Son, and I can't think of the Sun's name,
but John Ridder's son actually also stars in the program.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Okay, well, that's well, that's great. That's one for Matt Loge.
Now look, let me remind you. It's on CBS eight
o'clock tracker. Uh and now sometimes and it's right after
sixty minutes. But sometimes if the football game goes a
little late, but particularly obviously in the fall and winter months,
sixty Minutes doesn't start right at seven, So whenever sixty
(10:07):
Minutes starts, it's right after sixty minutes. So sometimes it's
eight exactly, but more often than not it's like eight
fifteen or eight twenty. But it's a great show, and
I'm going to be really interested in finding out if
you like it. I really mean that seriously.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I'll check it out. But I know you've got lots
of folks, so listen, have a wonderful weekend. Thanks as
always to take my call, and we'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
We'll talk. We'll talk to you soon. And say hi
to Tom for me. I haven't seen Tom in a
few weeks over at the garage, your brother.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Okay, I'll be seeing him. We do a zoom call
every Sunday afternoon, so I will cast it on to him.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Okay, tell him about track or two because he'd like
it as well.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
He's think I think you would.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah, I really mean that because this twist and turns
in it and it's it's it's written for adults. I mean,
you've got to pay attention, but it's you can follow it,
and it's got a great cast of characters. And by
the way, I found out tonight I did some Google
on it. It's shot in British Columbia. You know, every
week it's like a different city or a different state
(11:13):
in Massachusetts, but or in the United States. And sometimes though,
you know, you know, when they say it's Boston, it's
not really Boston. But to the rest of the world
they think, but it's all it's shot all in British Columbia. Ironically,
just found that little secret out tonight.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
And thanks so much. I know there's more folks. Have
a great night, have a great weekend to talk.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
So let me go to John and Maryland. John, you
are next on Nightside.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Hey are you going Dan doing great?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
John? What's your favorite must see?
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Well? I loved it for years. Of course, Blue Blood's
on CBS ten o'clock on the Friday nights. That was
my go to show. Of course, I'm a big Donnie
Wahlberg fan and Tom Sellick and of course the all
twist of that, the Boston Blue that comes on Friday nights.
I mean, it's just like really cool because they have
(12:09):
some of the same type of characters that have transitioned
over and something happens. So but yeah, I'm really a
big fan of that. But talking about the Tracker, I
have seen that part of that on Sunday that does
really look intriguing. How he goes out and they like
he like finding the missing people and they hire him.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah, that's well, that's the deal. I should probably tell
people what it is. It's a guy, young guy. His
life is is not perfect. It sounds to me like
they allude to, you know, he's had some you know,
you know love interests that have got that have gone
off the rails. He's got some you know, family problems
(12:47):
with his you know, with his with this the family
that he grew up in. But he finds missing people.
Some of these people are are victims of crime. Tough guy, Uh,
you know, obviously, I know it's not you know, real
per se, but you sit there in your edge of
your seat and you think and stuff, how's how's your exactly?
(13:08):
And it also shows you how today they can do
things to track people. He's got like the backup team
that he gets in contact with and they pull a
license plate and all of a sudden they can figure
where it is. It makes the connections. Oh yeah, it's
good stuff. It's good stuff.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
And another one of my other favorite shows was the FBI,
you know, those those programs, because you're talking about like
technology where it's amazing how in one hour they can
do so many things, you know, I mean, facial recognition.
It's just amazing, even though that is in like real
life situation too, but on TV. But of course I'm
(13:47):
a big fan of like the n c I S's
and a lot of police dramas. I guess you know, yeah, yeah,
you do.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You happen to be law enforcement. It sounds to me
like you might be a law enforcement.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
Guy many many years ago, about twenty five years ago. Yeah,
I was in law enforce for about eight years, and
I actually lived here on the eastern Shore of Maryland
about three hours from Baltimore. But I love all Boston
sports and New England, and I'm a big Boston guy.
You know, I went to college in Quincy back in
the middle nineties. So but yeah, I listened to your
(14:19):
show almost every night, and you know on WBZ ten thirty.
You know, it's one of the clearest radio stations. I
enjoy it. But yeah, I just wanted to call it.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
I don't wreck have you called before since your first time.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
This is my very first time I've ever called your show.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Well, let's you get a right in the clause in
my digital studio audience number one, and we appreciate that
we could forward to call number two. Become a regular William,
It's good.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
We have.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Definitely we got a good group.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
I had one more thing too before I leave, as
a Red Sox fan. Are you a little bit upset
that he haven't gone out and spent any money and
and done anything yet? Do you think they're gonna make
any big moves?
Speaker 2 (15:04):
I think I think they're they're hoping to bring Bregman back.
I think they're kind of waiting to see what he does. Obviously,
they lost Alonzo to the Orioles but this Oh yeah, absolutely,
but remember you guys had a disappointment with O'Neill uh
this past this past season, who had been up here.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
I'm actually Red Sox through it through man, I'm a
Red Sox man. That's why I kind of was asking
you because it kind of left a bitter taste in
my mouth when you were thinking that Red Sox are
gonna sign him and then he goes to your one
of your rivals.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
You know, yeah, I understand that. I think they did
find They picked up this picture Suddy Gray, who I
think is going to be good. He's he's like a
number two, you know, number two slash three starter. He's
not gonna be another Garrett Crochet. But they get some
they get some young pictures. I like this kid Early
(16:01):
who pitched for them. Yeah, and he's put on some
weight this winter. They picked up a kid from the
They picked up a pitcher from the Pirates, Oviedo, who
I think is underrated.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
Yeah that's right.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yeah, hitting, they gonna they got some hitting.
Speaker 7 (16:16):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
And if they re signed Bragman, I would love for
him to sign. Like maybe I don't know the guy
out of Seattle. This the third base on Suarez and
maybe Trey for Martel that would be Marte. That would
be awesome. But you am I I'm just a just
a fan.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
You know you're more than a fan when you start
throwing those names around. You know the game. So uh,
let's see what happens.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
Keep keep in.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Touch on it.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
Okay, your show and from Maryland to Massachusetts.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Blessings and holidays, John, You are not the only caller
in Maryland, but you're at the top of the list tonight, man,
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Much, Thank you, sir, have a great day.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
You Let me go to Buddy Harvey, Silverglade Harvey. I
wonder I'm wondering what what show for you? It's you know,
it's it's it's appointment television watching.
Speaker 8 (17:04):
I don't have much time to watch television, I know that,
but I do make sure that I listened to the
British broadcasting the BBC News Hour at five thirty to
six and then they have an analysis at seven to
seven thirty Monday to Friday. It is so superior to anything.
(17:31):
The only thing, the only American news outlet that comes
close in objectivity is the Wall Street Journal. Hey, you
know why the Wall Street Journal is so good to
deal with Murdoch.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Well, I'll tell you this. I can remember when I
worked my morning shift. I used to listen to the
BBC broadcast all the time driving into work at three
thirty in the morning because at that point it was
the middle of the day. It was just before noontime
in England with the five hour difference, so they had
had the entire morning to work. And it was amazing
(18:12):
the stories that the BBC covered. Obviously in foreign policy issues,
you know, I remember there was stuff, some really nasty
stuff going on in Sierra Leone, and you learn a
lot just by listening about parts of the world as
you wouldn't ordinarily know anything about.
Speaker 8 (18:28):
And you know, the BBC News had a recent scandal.
It was a b and they fired the guy.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yep, there was a woman and a guy.
Speaker 8 (18:39):
Right, That is the BBC News, Harvey.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
I totally agree with you, and it's interesting. We were
talking about American TV shows. If you ever get a chance,
and I know, I know you're a busy guy, give
a shot. Do you ever watch sixty minutes? I assume
you must watch sixty minutes.
Speaker 8 (18:59):
I knew watch sixty minutes occasionally, Okay, I do. It
is the best American produced television news service.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Yeah, they're actually getting better. I think that they had
a little bit of a dip for a few years,
but I think that they're getting back to where they were.
Sharon L. Fonsi, who's one of the correspondents. I used
to work with us with Sharon at w BZ. We
both worked mornings, and we were always off in different directions.
But she's a great friend and she's really landed a
(19:30):
wonderful spot as a correspondent on sixty Minutes. But I'll
tell you, if you stick around after sixty minutes, try this,
try this show, tracker. I'm not a TV watching guy,
particularly in terms of it's a great show. I think
I think intellectually you'd be you. You won't be challenged
by it, but you will. You will. You will appreciate
(19:53):
the thought that it will generate. It'll get your mind going,
Trust me on that.
Speaker 8 (19:56):
Okay, I told why the Wall Street Journal is the
best American newspaper, haven't I.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Well, you said Murdoch ride made.
Speaker 8 (20:07):
A deal that he would keep his hands off the
news function, he would focus on the editorial function, and
he is the Murdoch family and now two generations has
stuck to that deal.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Well, that's the way it should be everywhere. If only
every every newspaper did it. You know, do your editorials
all of that, but just give us and thank god,
we have two newspapers in Boston, but both of them
they blur the distinction between news and editorial comment. When
I did news, I didn't want anybody to know what
(20:42):
I thought about politics. I really didn't you and I
I read.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
I read the news. The glow in the Herald. Yeah,
I mean I we were religiously seven days a week.
But they're nothing near the Wall Street. Right.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
There's a there is a leakage in not so much
the news coverage, but in the news placement and the
news stories that are that are that are emphasized. That's
where I find the the the the commentary leaking into
what should be the news. In my opinion, Harvey has
(21:20):
always so much. Appreciate your loyalty to this program, my friend.
We will talk soon, okay.
Speaker 8 (21:25):
Okay, have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
And again I said last night, thank you so much
for that picture of David bread nooy and the picture
of you with bred NOOI. Those are those are keepsakes
for me. Thank you so much.
Speaker 8 (21:35):
I mailed you one more I found fabulous that I
also took of just David. Okay, you should get it.
You should get it any day now.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Yeah, be a little slowed up with with all the
holiday mail, but I'll bet tomorrow to be here and
I'll give you a call. Thanks, buddy, talk.
Speaker 8 (21:52):
Soon, Okay, bye bye, thanks, bye bye.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Okay. I have a couple of lines open at six
one seven. I want to know what is your television
program of choice, the program that if you don't have
it marked on the calendar at least it's a tickler
and your rolodex in your head. For me, it is
Tracker on CBS Sunday nights, right after sixty minutes, either
(22:17):
at eight o'clock straight up or once you know sixty
minute gets pushed a little bit because of the football
games going later, particularly as we get into the playoff
type and the setup for the playoff seasons. Tracker right
after sixty minutes. I'd love to maybe next week, maybe
see if any of you decide to watch the show,
and i'd let to get your reviews on it. But
(22:38):
if you are a Tracker fan, the join the club
six back on Nightside.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
If you're on Night Side with Dan Ray on WZ
Boston's news radio.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Back to the phones we go. Let me go to
Glenn and Brighton. Glenn, you've been away for a while.
How you doing money?
Speaker 6 (23:00):
I don't know. I was hoping you do grind your gears?
Speaker 2 (23:02):
But that's oh I'm sorry, Glenn, but maybe we'll hit
that one next week. How's how's that? Okay?
Speaker 6 (23:07):
All right? Yeah, there's a detective show that I listened
to called Monk. His name is Adrian Monk.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Monk. That is that on radio?
Speaker 6 (23:19):
No on television, on TV? Okay, I've listened to it.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
You know, never heard of that one. Aren't you what
night of the week or what networked?
Speaker 6 (23:31):
If you don't on from it's on from eight to ten.
Dan Ray wants to know what channel Monk is on.
I have a friend visiting.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
That's okay, that's okay, no problem, no problem. Yeah, what's
it about? What's it about?
Speaker 6 (23:46):
Well, it's a detective and it's kind of a comedy detective.
Like my favorite episode. It's called It's on a Nude Beach.
It's called Monk and the Naked Man, and Monk doesn't
like nude people. Man, his assistant Natalie Tiger, who I
have a crush on. That's why I listened to it. Yeah,
(24:06):
I love her voice.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
It's important.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
I have a thing from Natalie goes, Monk isn't feeling well.
He's sort of a nude man earlier, and then there
was one guy Monk was arresting and and Monk goes,
guy goes, where's your warrant? And Monk goes, where's your trousers?
Speaker 2 (24:24):
It's that's a good line. That's a good line. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm trying to find it here. And I guess it
originally ran on USA Network from two thousand and two
to two thousand and nine. I'm not sure if that's
on a network easily accessible newscast here. Are you watching
(24:44):
it on like ABC, CBS or anything like that?
Speaker 6 (24:48):
No, No, there's some you know how these antenna TV's
have like fivesh one five dish they got these new.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Yeah, that's way, you know, something new away beyond my
cap there.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Man's like, it's troglodyte television. It's not cable.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Oh well, Troglodye TV. I like the sound of it,
that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
I made that up because I'm a truggle.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Oh, that's good, that's creative. I love the word troglodyte.
Many people think I'm a troglodyte.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
That's many people call My nickname is Troggy Pooh, that's
what people call me.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
All right, So Monk for Glenn, it's Monk. Not a
pure TV show, but but sort of a hybrid hybrid.
Thanks Glen, I.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
Have another one.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Okay, go ahead, more quick? Yep? Sure.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
I like the PBF the woman that took over for
Judy Woodward, who had on the PPS news on Friday.
I mean at night at ten o'clock. Her first name
is Anne. She's got a Spanish last name.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Well, I get that one again. That's that's a close call.
Remember that's getting very close to knightside territory. And I
don't know why you'd listen to any news broadcasts other
than W easy news. I mean, there's a.
Speaker 6 (26:04):
Friends visiting me and he's good at gotcha.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Well that's fair enough, all right, Glenn, we'll talk soon.
Thanks so much for the call. Let's keep rolling Hill
they go to Florence up in Groveland, Florence. What's your
go to TV show?
Speaker 9 (26:17):
All right, good evening, Dan, Dan, I don't watch anything
except this one series. It's on the Hallmark Channel and
it's called When Calls the Heart and it's taken from
the book by Janet Oak and it's it takes place
(26:42):
in the Canadian Northwest in the eighteen hundreds. It's a
period piece.
Speaker 8 (26:50):
Wow, what's the name of it?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
I missed the first word of the name of it?
Speaker 9 (26:54):
When When Calls the Heart? It has a big fall
when if you look it up, all right, a load
of people watch it.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
How'd you find that? How'd you find that?
Speaker 8 (27:08):
Well?
Speaker 9 (27:08):
Because I always watched the Home Much channel. But this
is I'm starting my fourteenth year of watching it. The
fourteenth stopped January fourth, twenty six and it's been on
thirteen years and it's wonderful.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
I love it, jo I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
At it here When Closed the Heart. That's kind of
a Western drama TV series.
Speaker 9 (27:39):
Now again, when it comes on, it's only on for
twelve episodes. It's Sunday Night nine to ten, and it's
only twelve Sundays, Sunday Night ninety ten, rightly twelve and
then the last one and they do the finale and
(28:02):
then you've gotta wait till next year to pick it.
Up again it continues.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
That's a long wait when those twelve episodes, because there's
obviously there's fifty two weeks in a year, so you're
kind of telling me, I did my math in my
head here twelve weeks on and then forty weeks off.
Speaker 9 (28:20):
That's a lot that so every January or February, well,
you're all set.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Right after the super Bowl, you'll be able.
Speaker 8 (28:29):
To pick it up.
Speaker 9 (28:31):
All right, it's wonderful.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I love it. Well, Farrence, thanks very much for your call.
You have a great weekend, and stay warm up there
in Groveland. Thanks you. Let me go to Joel and Natick. Joel,
your next a nice your favorite TV show? What would
that be, Joel?
Speaker 4 (28:50):
That's gonna be great, Kelly on Newsmax.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Well, yeah, that's that's a political show, right, yes, yeah, no,
I understand that. I'm yeah, I'm trying to stay away
from the politics of it. I was looking more for entertainment.
But that's fine. Is that a Is that a paid
channel or or is that a free channel?
Speaker 4 (29:12):
No, that's that's on cable news Max. It's a paid
it's it's a free channel on cable.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Oh, as long as you get it on cable all right,
so you should try try if you get a chance
Sunday night. Uh, you know, I don't know what else
you're doing at eight o'clock. I'm I'm a big fan
of this show called Tracker. I'm surprised that nobody has
backed me up on Tracker. It is a great show.
It's fast moving, it's non political. For me to be
(29:40):
honest with you, it's great on a weekend to get
away from the conversation about politics. Because as much as
I like politics and I'm interested in politics, when I
sometimes can find something. This is a show about a
guy who is kind of he's kind of a bit
of a I guess you would call him a drifter,
and he finds lost people. You know, a lot of
(30:03):
people in our world either are victims of crime or
they they somehow just slip away. And his job. He's
in it for the money, you know, you know whatever
whatever the fee is, there's no set fee. Uh. And
it's it's it's it's challenging intellectually, but it's it's a
(30:25):
good show. So if you get a chance some night
on a Sunday night, it's at eight o'clock, right after
sixty minutes on CBS. I think I know you well
enough to know that you might that you might be
challenged by it, and you might like it.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Well, then the other thing that that would burn I
like to do too much sports, too much. The Red Sox,
the Celtic. Oh absolutely, that's the Red And you know
what else there to dudes that watch sports on the weekend.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Well, look at this weekend. I was thinking that this
weekend you got you got the Bruins in Minnesota tomorrow
night at six, you got the Patriots in Buffalo on Sunday.
That's gonna be a great game, such a key game. Uh,
that's it's gonna be a good weekend to stay at
home with the best seat in the house. I love
(31:15):
sometimes going to ball games, but in the winter time,
particularly his time of year, I have no interest in
sitting at Jillette Stadium and freezing.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
I did it once another I took where Burden.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
That was it.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
The game start at four o'clock and by the time
it got over, we were freezing.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Yeah yeah, well particularly yeah, well that's the at the
new one of the old one, the old one. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Well, we saw Brady and Manning going against each other.
He was Manning was the the Enneapolis Colts and Brady
was playing certain Patriots.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Yeah, oh no, those those are good games that would
have been early in the the the two Joe as always,
thank you so much for calling. I got to get
some more phone calls in here. We will talk soon,
my friend.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Okay, okay, take care, Thanks Dank, Thanks buddy, Okay.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Talk to you later, all right. I got an open
line or two one at six one seven, two five
four to ten thirty. And I'm looking at one open
line at six one seven nine three one ten thirty,
and I am surprised that we do not have much
support for tracker. But that's okay. I've got a couple
of tips here. I'll tell you one thing I'm gonna
watch this weekend. I'm going to watch I've never watched
(32:33):
the movie A Christmas Story. My pledge to you as
I will give you a full report on that at
some point next week. I think it's fun to talk politics,
Don't get me wrong. It's fun to talk economics. We
did that with Professor Greg Stoler at the ten o'clock hour,
but you got to mix it up a little bit.
That's what I would like to do here. On nights side.
I know there are folks out there who want to
talk politics five nights a week, every hour. I can't
(32:57):
handle it. I think you got to have just like food.
I love ice cream, but I can't eat ice cream
three meals a day, seven days a week. That's my
analogy and I'm sticking to it. We'll be right back
on night's side. I got a couple of open lines
if you want to try to get in. We only
got one left. Six point seven, two, five, four, ten thirty.
Well we'll get everybody, I promise back after this.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Night Side with Dan Ray. I'm Boston's news radio.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
We have full lines to the end. Let's wrap it up.
I'm gonna go to Bill Winaker first, and Bill is
a Tracker fan. I know, Hey Bill, how are you?
Speaker 7 (33:33):
I'm great?
Speaker 8 (33:34):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (33:35):
I'm doing well? The other first guy that's joined me
on Tracker here, I assume that's what you're calling about.
Speaker 7 (33:41):
Yeah, That's what I'm calling about. But you know every
Sunday night at nine o'clock. Yeah, I want to go
to the phone and call you and just spet the show.
But I restrain myself because I don't want to bother you.
On a Sunday night. But I always want to dial
you up because the show's so great and I've been
watching it since the inception. And I'm like you because
(34:05):
I missed all the major TV shows over the years
because you.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Guys are out entertaining other people.
Speaker 6 (34:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (34:13):
Absolutely, yeah, and so I never really got hooked on
any series though really out almost every night. So but
Tracker I never missed. I loved sixty minutes and then
right into Tracker.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
Yeah, I'm telling you, I'm with you, Bill. Let me
tell you it's a it's a great one. And thanks
for backing me up on it. I hoping, I was
hoping you will listening tonight.
Speaker 7 (34:40):
Oh yeah, I've been waiting waiting to call in, So
carry on. But Geene Shepherd wrote the movie You're going
to See.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yes, Yes, Well, earlier tonight we had a professor who
he actually co taught college classes with Jeene Shepherd.
Speaker 7 (34:57):
So you should listen to the I miss that that
part of the show.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Listen to the eight o'clock Listen to the eight o'clock
hour that it'll be posted sometime, you know later tonight
or tomorrow. Listen to eight o'clock. Your first hour tonight
at eight thirty. About halfway through, there's a professor who
wrote the book. It's called You'll Shoot your Eye Out
Life Lessons from the movie A Christmas Story by Quentin Schultz.
Speaker 7 (35:25):
Okay, I gotta I'm gonna listen to that because I
was hooked on Geene Shepherd when I was a kid
on a transistor radio every night, start testing out of
New York.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Great storyteller. I got full lives. Buddy. I wish you
called earlier. We would talk more, but we'll talk next week. Okay,
thanks buddy, Okay, thanks Bill, talk soon. Let me go
real quickly here. I gotta move quickly, folks, so please
help me out. Barbara in East Ridgewater, Barbara your favorite,
your go to TV show, Go right ahead, Barber.
Speaker 10 (35:54):
Well, I'm also here to support you. I love track,
all right, right. I actually got out of bed.
Speaker 11 (36:03):
I felt bad for you.
Speaker 10 (36:04):
I got out of bed to actually call you to
tell you that. Yeah, I really like I love Justin Hotley.
He's really good.
Speaker 7 (36:11):
I just it's different.
Speaker 10 (36:12):
I think that's why.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
It's very different, and it's intellectually challenging. But I so
appreciate Barbara, you call it it. I really do I
really mean that.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
I want to tell you.
Speaker 10 (36:23):
Oh, can I just tell you one more than time?
A previous caller mentioned Mattlock and that is also good
because it's not the way it appears, and you have
to watch it from the beginning, but it's it's actually
a very very good show. Kathy Bates is unbelievable imits.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
It's really really good. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (36:44):
Yeah, So that's one of my other favorites too. And
there's another new one. It's called High Potential and it's
about a woman she's I forget who plays her, but
it's about a consultant right to the police department. But
that's a little different show too. I think that's the
one I believe Wednesdays.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
All right, I gotta let you run, Barbera. Thanks for thanks,
jumping in talk suit. Okay, all right, we're gonna really
have to put the pedal to the medal at this point. Joe,
give me your favorite call your favorite tvka.
Speaker 8 (37:14):
My favorite TV is Court, TV, Emergency and Star Trek.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
All right, you got them all in. Nice job, Thanks Joe,
you've saved me. I got to get two other people in.
Thanks Joe. Let's go next, uh, Diane and Bill Rickett. Dian,
you gotta be quick for me.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Go ahead, No, I will.
Speaker 10 (37:30):
I love all the SUV shows, Nurse Jackie and then
my trashy shows are sixty days in and Love Have
to Lock Up.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
Oh those are all ones I've really never heard of.
But thank you for the suggestions. Those are great. Thanks,
Thanks Diane. Talk to you soon. Yes, you too, have
a great night. We're gonna get Mary in Connecticut. Mary,
I think you're gonna be the last caller, but everybody
saved you a little bit of time. What's your favorite
go to TV show?
Speaker 11 (37:57):
Definitely Tracker?
Speaker 2 (37:59):
We got some track are people at the end?
Speaker 7 (38:01):
This is yeah?
Speaker 11 (38:02):
Well, you know, I felt bad for you too because
nobody was supporting you, so I decided to call.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
It well, you know, it's I was just trying to
basically say to people, hey, there's a really good show.
I got hooked on it. A couple of friends of
mine have gotten hooked on it as well. And I
hope you agree with me when I say that it's
intellectually challenging. Yes, it's entertaining, and it's tough to figure
(38:29):
out how the story ends. And though you do know
that obviously the guy's going to survive and he's gonna
be back next week. I mean, it's not like the
show is going to end, right.
Speaker 11 (38:39):
No, Okay, So anyway, just and high potential is also
a good one. Try looking into that.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
One high potential. Okay, when is that on? What night
of the week?
Speaker 9 (38:48):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (38:48):
I have no idea, and that I don't even know
what station it's on.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
I just find it. Okay, we'll stick with tracker. Okay,
so Trackers still great. I'm hoping.
Speaker 6 (38:56):
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Thanks Mary. Where in Connecticut you call it from.
Speaker 11 (39:00):
Town called Harwinton?
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Oh? Okay, very nice county? Is this your first time
calling it is? I'm going to give you home.
Speaker 6 (39:11):
Right, Thank you so much.
Speaker 11 (39:13):
I'm originally from the Boston area.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Great, well, thank you so much for listening.
Speaker 11 (39:18):
I listened to you every night.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
We'll do me a favorite. Never stop and come on
back soon. I'd love to talk to you more.
Speaker 6 (39:25):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 11 (39:26):
So Merry Christmas.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Merry Christmas to you as well. All right, I think
we're down to the final minute, rob if I'm not mistaken,
all right, So, just as they do on sixty minutes,
the last minute, this is the last minute of the week.
I want to thank all the callers, all the listeners.
I want to turn every listener into a caller. That's
my new Year's resolution. Back on Monday night. We got
a great set of shows coming up. We got the
(39:48):
night Side Charity combine coming up on December twenty third.
Please stay warm this weekend. Rob Brooks, great job, Marita,
great job. Thanks to everybody. You guys are the best
audience in the world. When you pick that phone up
and call me and I know you're there. If you
don't pick the phone up and call I'm sometimes wondering
where are they? Thanks so much everybody. All dogs, all cats,
(40:09):
all pets go to heaven. That's why Pal Charlie Rayes,
who passed fifteen years ago in February, I'm looking at
a picture of them right now. That's where all your
pets are who have passed. They loved you and you
love them. I do believe you're going to see them again.
I hope to see you again every night next week
on Nightside. I will be on Facebook Nightside with Dan
ray in about two minutes. Love to see you there.
You'll see me there. Thanks everybody for a great week
(40:33):
