Saturday afternoon during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a 20-year-old shooter attempted to take the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump’s life. The 78-year-old was only minutes into delivering his speech when a bullet grazed his ear, causing him to get down and take cover. The attack killed a bystander, critically wounded two others, and prompted questions about how a gunman was able to open fire from a nearby rooftop. We had lots to unpack this edition of NightSide!

(00:01):
It's Night Side with Dan Ray onWBSY, Boston's news radio. Major breaking
news this evening, a potential assassinationattempt on the life of former President Donald
Trump. Take a look at whathappened. The former president grabbed his right
ear and went down behind the podiumwhere he was surrounded by Secret Service agents.

(00:25):
So we're standing there, you know, we're we're pointing at the guy
growing up the roof, and hehad a gun, right, he had
a rifle. We could clearly seehim with a rifle. Absolutely, the
attorney says, a shooter is deadand one, maybe two bystanders are dead
at the Trump rally in Butler,Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh. I heard
the shots and then all of asudden, somebody hollers, get down on

(00:48):
the ground, and everybody's going downon the ground as low as they can
get. The bottom line is theTrump rally is a rally that he should
have been able to be conducted peacefullyand without any problem. It's funny out
of a near tragedy may come anagreement amongst all of us, so most
of us to treat one another alittle bit more respectfully over time. I

(01:11):
know that is probably something that noteveryone is going to sign on to.
But you can start at home. You can start with your own family and
try to understand that even though theymay disagree with you on Donald Trump or
Joe Biden all politics in general, they're still members of your family. My
name's Dan Ray. This is Nightsideone. Line open at six one seven,

(01:32):
two, five, four ten thirty, triple eight nine two nine,
ten thirty and also later on withthe line start to clear six one seven,
nine, three, one ten thirty. Gonna move people a little bit
more quickly. Chris Chris in Grafton, Chris first, this hour and nice
side, thanks for holding through thenews. Hey day, good evening,
first time call along time listener, first time caller, first time call alongside

(01:56):
listener. Well, we're gonna giveyou a run a pause all first off
College, looking forward to what youhave to say. Hope you become a
many time appreciated Dan, appreciate youand all you do again. I'll get
to it. I get two points. First of all, I've got four
decades in the private sector in theprofessional security space, have worked closely with

(02:21):
public sector at the federal, state, and local level. And my first
point is that the situation, asone observes, and this is not about
politics, this is just about doingthe right thing. Is that there are
too many questions about the way thatthat situation was protected. Okay. Secondly,

(02:45):
there's there's there's media information flowing withpublicly federal law enforcement pointing a finger
at local law enforcement for responsibility.I know, I know for a firsthand
fact that, particularly with the SecretService, because I've worked for them in
the past, quote unquote, protectingthe package is primary one. And the

(03:09):
reality is that that situation has toomany questions to it that is not anything
close to what should have been.So my comments are not one way or
the other. It's more about theprocess of the system because we as Americans,

(03:31):
number one, we need to domore to unify the country. And
secondly, we need to have thefacts and the truth. Absolutely, I
couldn't agree with you more. Weneed a full and thorough investigation, one
in which and a report. Nowtoday I listened to may orcus On two
or three, the Homeland Security Director. I find him to be less than

(03:53):
honest. I'm going to be surehonest with you. He Ducks interviewed this
morning CNN UH and the questions weregood questions, but he just goes into
this this little speech. H that'sunresponsive to the question. However, he
said he's going to appoint somebody fromthe outside. Let's see who he appoints.

(04:14):
I'd like to see them appoint someonelike Bill Bratton, who I have
a lot of confidence in, orsomeone like Ed Davis. Now they may
from Bill Braddon would be stablist Danawell, both of them. Davis himself
was hands on with the Boston Marathonbombing UH and Bratton has been involved in

(04:35):
major police departments in Los Angeles andNew York and Boston, et cetera.
I would say that normally, whenthe Secret Service comes in and you're talking
about a presidential candidate or a presidentor a former president, they look for
help from the locals. They runthe show. So the buck has to

(04:57):
stop with the Secret Service, becausethey should have said, hey, who's
got that roof? Who's going tobe up there on that roof? And
if there were other roofs, youknow, and forget what I heard the
phrase that it was outside the perimeter. Who establishes the perimeter the Secret Service?
And if the perimeter's too close,I like, you know, at

(05:18):
same Way Park, nobody sits, you know, within five feet of the
batter's box. I mean totally.I'm one hundred percent with you. And
and my point is this, whenyou look at an event, and I've
looked at many and been participatory inmany myself with Joint Task Force operations to

(05:41):
do various things, including bringing theRamseys exhibit from Egypt to Boston, and
I would tell you we did abetter job projecting protecting the treasure of Egypt
then we did protecting illuminum. Yeah. Well, let's just say that we
lucked out, and let's learned fromthis lesson, and let's make sure nothing

(06:02):
like this happens again. And ifit means less access, I gotta tell
you, as a TV reporter inthe seventies and eighties and nineties and into
the two thousands, there was easyaccess. Even after the Reagan attempted assassination.
I can't tell you how many presidentsI've talked to and just you know,

(06:26):
face to face. Some of themwas set up, some of them
weren't, some of them. Butthat's going to change. It's going to
change because this is it's going tobe really interesting to find out what the
background of this kid is, Ibelieve, and I have nothing to believe
it on other than the fact thatthis kid is a clean slate. At
this point, I think he's anut job. I think he's a nut

(06:46):
job who had access to a gun, apparently bought the bullets that day.
This is not some guy who traveledhalfway across the country. There's no suggestion
that he's been following Trump events andtrying to stalk the president. I think
it was a crime of opportunity.Hey, the president's in town. You
know what, I'm going to makemy name for myself and I'm going to
go shoot him. Let me getthe PATS gun and I'll go buy some

(07:10):
bullets, and I'm golden. Yeah, And I tend to agree with you
in one respect, but it's aneighty twenty kind of rule. Number One,
I'm not convinced that we're ever goingto hear the full story on who
this twenty year old is. NumberOne, I think there's a lot of
data that's being I know for afact there's a lot of data being gathered
on him at the moment, includinghis extended circles and social connections that he's

(07:35):
had. And the reality is alot of that will never make its way
to the public for a lot ofdifferent reasons. And rightfully so, why
rightfully so? Why rightfully so?Well, there's a division between the public
sector and what they do with thisinformation of priority level that can't be shared

(07:57):
with the public for numerous reasons.Well, give me an example. I
mean, let's assume hypothetically that thiskid was a nutjob, okay, and
let's say that whatever you know, and maybe he was into whatever perversions you
want. I mean, I don'tcare what he was, Okay. You
know, he worshiped trees. Therewas a tree in his backyard and he

(08:20):
went outside every day and he huggedthe tree or whatever it is, doesn't
matter. I think it should alreadybe out there, you know. I
mean, I hear what you're saying. I would only say I would only
say again that you know, todayit was reported that Lieutenant Colonel from the
Pennsylvania State Police made a statement thathe doesn't think this was a lone wolf
of that. Now, we're goingto hear a lot of that, But

(08:43):
the reality is the public sector isgoing to run down every avenue, every
lead, every rope, and notall of that will be publicized yeah.
I mean, yeah, if iflet's say this kid hypothetically, let's just
say, hypothetically was a huge PittsburghSteeler fee in and went to a game

(09:03):
one time and got an autograph froma Pittsburgh Steeler, that's irrelevant. I'm
not talking about things that are irrelevant. I mean I'm talking about you know,
if you went to a an Arrowsmithconcert or a Bruce Spinks we don't
need to know that. But butif there's anything that is relevant there,
we deserve to know. Because thisguy was going to affect the twenty twenty

(09:28):
four presidential elections and take a candidateoutright. Thanks much, Thanks man,
listen, you take care of Thanksfor what you do, appreciate it.
Great first call, Thanks for whatyou've done, and I hope you come
back off and okay as a caller, thank you sir. Good night,
a great night. Take a veryquick break. I said, you know,
we keep getting good, better andbetter callers here, and so it's

(09:50):
tough to shut people off like that. But we're going to keep rolling here.
It's as simple as that, andwe'll be back right after this one
night. Side Now Dan Ray livefrom the Window World, Nice Side Studios,
I'm WBZ News Radio. All let'sgo to Joe up and Lynn.
Joe. You were next time Isaw, Hey, Dan, how are
you doing. I'm doing fine,Joe. What's on your mind tonight?

(10:11):
I'm glad you're back, guide youback on. I think I have to
disagree with you. I agree withTom. Hey Tom from Brockton, Glad
you're always on the radio. Wecan disagree and still be friends. I
think it's a It was a setupfor Trump. I just do because of
so many things that have happened,so many things have been said by the
other side that he's hitler. Istill today know some people and they're not

(10:33):
my friends. I mean, Imay not agree with everything, they still
wish he was dead. I mean, I have never seen so much vitriol
and hatred. You can have allthe protection in the world. Why do
you think it was a set? When you say a setup, Joe,
Okay, yes, what do youmean by setup? I think this was
a slowly twenty year old kid whohad never had any success in his life

(10:54):
to speak of, who well, all of a sudden the president of the
before coming to his hometown area. But I guess he lived in a town
a little bit further away. Yeah, it was his moment, his moment
to be re recognized in history. There are people here's what's here's my answer.
Here's my answer. You may agreeddisagree. That's okay. We're still

(11:16):
friends, he said, because theSecret Service was told you could have as
much Secret Service as you want yourown stuff. The best way is that
when friends and influence people like theCEO who died, Irmin Kane did they
were told by police officer. Policeofficers were told there was a guy fro
was on the BBC. I thinkyou played part of the interview. I

(11:37):
don't remember if you did or not. People saw him up on the roof.
They could have that. We knowthat. And again, in the
confusion of an event where people arecheering, and sometimes these communications aren't as
easy as it is because you andI are talking right now, if a
hundred people on the same channel withus right now trying to say the same

(11:58):
thing, a lot of talk overunfortunately. But Dan, these people were
outside, away from the perimeter. They're having a party. They went right
up to the Secret Service and thepolice and told them it's too bad this
kid's did. I'm not saying whathe did was right, it's not because
now we'll never know if they couldhave just stopped him somehow take you know,

(12:18):
but they could if he never gotthe gunshots off. And yeah,
that's right. Sure they got upthere, the cops, and then Joe,
let's find out where the truth is. It's as simple as that.
Let's do it thoroughly. The Republicanscontrolled Congress speak of Johnson says they're going
to have an investigation. We needto find out. We need to find
out what happened and if there wasany funny business, and I don't think

(12:39):
there was, we need to findthat out and expose it. Okay,
that one last thing, Dan,I have a feeling like with jfk Robert
F. Kennedy forgave her hands herhand, which is marvelous. He wants
to get everything released. They don'twant to release it. So I have
a funny feeling these investigations, they'lldo everything they can to try and cover
up. You never know. Ihave don't have as much hope as I

(13:01):
did, But I see your point, and I hope you're right, but
I hope I hope I'm right too. Joe, appreciate your paul as always
say, yeah, let's keep rollin here. We're going to go to
Sal in Los Angeles. Sal,You're next on nights. I go right
ahead, Hello, sir, HiSal. So, last time I talked
to you, I was debating tovote for Trump or by Okay, since

(13:31):
his vice president now is BD Vance, JD Vance, JB JD Vans Sorry,
like J. D. Martinez, the former Red Sox designated hitter.
Dude, he is the underdog.I want to vote for the underdog,

(13:56):
okay. And well, he cameout of very tough, difficult circle stances.
I believe that his mom had himwhen she was thirteen years of age,
and he grew up poor, joinedthe Marines. We'll know a lot
more about the story. Eventually graduatedfrom Yale Ohio State and Yale Law School,
so pretty pretty impressive, and wroteand wrote He'll be aology so we'll

(14:20):
never So I saw the movie onNetflix before I knew that he was going
to do this. I mean,I mean I saw the movie on Netflix.
I voted. Sorry, I whenI saw that he was going to
be the vice president, I decidedI'm going to vote for Trump and BD

(14:43):
Vans JD Vance. You keep sayingbd jd vance. All right, yeah,
we got you in as a asnow a Trump voter. It'll be
interested to see what the polls showin the next few days. I think
that President Trump, this is withthe vote out there that they're gonna and
also there's a vote that's going toadmire the fact that he got up and

(15:05):
was fist bumping and saying fight, fight, fight. Look, he came
within an inch of losing his lifeand maybe if he had no No.
I saw that this weekend. Iwas so sad that that happened. I
you know, I well, itwas sad it happened. It was grady
that he survived. Okay, Imean it's as simple as that. Well,

(15:26):
you know, to be honest withyou, I was in New York
when nine to eleven happened, andI experienced a lot of things, you
know, which was surreal and Icouldn't I didn't know how to deal with
it. Well, there's a lotof us in the Boston, New York

(15:48):
area who were impacted by that. Many people here, even people in my
audience and people who who people knewit was almost everyone knew so one who
was on one of those planes. So yeah, it's a very personal thing
to Boston. It is, andand and when you see stuff like this,

(16:11):
you're like, you know, youknow how to, you know,
you don't how to, you don'tknow how to react, so just just
go with it. I think you'vereacted well tonight. And the election is
still what three three plus months away, so they can A lot can happen,
that is for sure. Look inreality, from for a little while

(16:33):
last week it looked like Joe Bidenwould not be on the ticket. I
think he will be on the ticketnow. And if if the bullet had
been an inch or two closer, maybe the Republicans would be meeting in Cleveland.
And yeah, so anyway, yes, I guess we'll have to see
how it worked. There's plenty oftime to see what happens. But I

(16:53):
do think that there'll be a lotof people going to look at Donald Trump
and his reaction to it and seehim as a as a strong figure.
I think that that's one of thatimage is going to become an iconic image.
Sal hate to do this to you. I'm up in my news and
I gotta let you go. Youhave a good day, take care,
you talk to you soon. Havea great night. Salo, Los Angeles
is a regular caller. We haveone open line at six one, seven,

(17:15):
two, five, four, tenthirty. One open line at six
one, seven, nine, tenthirty. Got Susan coming up to Susan.
Susan and Cambridge, Susan in Worcesterand matt and Florida. We'll be
back on night side right after thenews at the bottom of the hour.
There's nothing else to talk about. The last few days have been extraordinary and

(17:36):
thank god, we're not preparing forsome sort of a funeral of a former
president. Whether you like Donald Trumpor you despise Donald Trump, please please
understand that we have had enough violencein this country to last many generations and
it has to end. And youknow it's got start with you and me,

(18:00):
and it's got to start with youand me, with our family and
then our friends and then our acquaintances. We're back on nightside right after the
break, at the bottom of thehour. It's night Side with Boston's News
Radio. Back we go. Letme go to Susan in Worcester. Susan
and Worcester is a huge supporter,a big supporter of Donald Trump. Susan,

(18:23):
welcome next on nights. Yeah,I was good. Ah Dan,
uh, you know when you getshot because you didn't know where it hit
him? What you do with fiveshots? And how did this guy get
up there? And why wasn't thissnipe is over there? Like they were
in the front of the place, there were two snipers. Why wasn't there

(18:45):
any snipe is there? Those areall great questions, and those are questions
that happens. Yet I feel someI have to agree with that on the
guy. It's just set up.I really believe it. Dan, It's
just set up. They couldn't gethim. They couldn't get them for two
impeachments. They couldn't get him offthe ballot. They tried everything. So

(19:07):
what's the next step for him?Let sussassinate him. I really know if
that's true, Susan, and Idon't think it's even closer. I don't
go that last one. Pardon mefor for trying to get a word in
Edgeway. And if that's true, that is a country that has lost its

(19:30):
way. Okay Kennedy, see hehated him. They want to get rid
of him. Dance they would beAttorney General Barbie Kennedy. They couldn't stand
them's how you do things. Theyhave the most corrupt and you better believe.
I don't want Golland that Christopher Raynear this investigation. And I found

(19:52):
out whistle blowers are going to bethe one to break this case. And
they are smart. They know whathappened, and that's going to be the
story whistle blowers. You know howthe Democrats love whistle blowers when it was
against Trump. Now we're going tohave them against them, and it's gonna
okay. I'm sorry you feel asyou you are feeling. I'm oh,

(20:15):
Now they want to play guice, right, Biden, Lets everybody get along
after this guy weaponize every agency againsthim, and you want us to be
nice and play good some way.I don't think I'm going to be able
to persuade you to the contrary,Susan, So simply, I think you've
had time to tell us what youbelieve. I'm happy that you called,

(20:41):
happy to call, but I believein little of what you said. Uh,
And you're essentially what the American peoplethis was a setup. Everything was
not right there. You watched iton TV. I'm asking, well,
how about did he get up there? Where? What the snipe is here.
He was a sitting duck drunk.Everybody knows it, and I think

(21:06):
it's just unbelievable it's happening. Andthey tried to get him every which way.
But okay, Susan, I thinkyou've made your point fifteen times.
I'm gonna let you go. Thankyou very much. Next up, uh
is Matt in Florida. Matt,go right ahead. I say this as
respectfully to you as I can.I don't know why you're being so obtuse

(21:29):
about this. I think that's extwhat that woman just said. I mean,
how can you realistically not even thinkthat? Dan? I mean,
this is this is like the biggestthing that's happened in this country, and
the whole world just seems to havealready forgotten it even happened, which is
extremely disturbing to me. Like,oh yeah, he he almost got shot

(21:52):
and died. Dan, this guywith Trump was almost dead at like twenty
four hours ago. Can you imagineif that hit them? Like, can
you imagine the country if that actuallyhappened. It's like, I think this
is one hundred percent possible. Whatwas going on just there? Okay,
let me ask you this. Letme ask you this, Okay, Let's

(22:15):
assume that you and Susan are right, and that there's some sort of cabal
somewhere that I mean, you're sayingthat kind of I'm going to ask a
question to ask you a question, you mean, like that's what's been going
on forever in this country. Letme just finish the question, right.
So let's assume the premise that youand Susan agree upon it's correct, and

(22:37):
that there's some sort of cabal outthere who wanted to get Trump and they
said we can get him at thisrally that he's scheduled in Pennsylvania. Now
we know that it wasn't like theTrump that the CIA said to Trump,
this would be a great place foryou to have a rally in Butler,
Pennsylvania. Would you agree with methat that location was picked by the Trump
team? No? Correct, Idon't think it was the planned it.

(23:00):
I think they I think this guy. I think they saw this guy,
and I think they said, youknow, let him do what he's gonna
try to do. If it works, it works. If not, then
we got to wipe them off,you know what I mean? Like I
think, Okay, So let mejust want to walk through this slowly with
you. Okay, So we're inagreement that the Trump campaign at some point
said we've got this great place asCounty Fairgrounds in Butler, Pennsylvania. A

(23:23):
lot of people come there. Pennsylvaniais a good state, we do well
in the Pittsburgh area. Let's geta big, big one going for Trump.
Okay, fine, And of coursethey do this all the time,
they have they have rallies around thecountry. So the campaign team then notifies
the Secret Service. So at somepoint someone said, Okay, this is
an opportunity where we can get him. And someone then said, I got

(23:47):
a great idea. We got thistwenty year old loser kid from high school.
He lives. Well. I thinkthat's where you're wrong. I think
it's very wrong for you to dismissthis guy as quote you know some lunatic.
Yeah, obviously there's a screw lows. But this guy was very intelligent
in high school, and he wasone of these people who's he was all

(24:11):
into history. And I know alot of these lunatic liberals Dan they they
they honestly think Trump is Hitler. And I think this kid one thinks that
Trump was Hitler. Sone. Okay, I'm going to give you that.
We don't know that. But that'sjust for the sake of argument, Matt.
I'm giving you that one. Okay, I'm giving you that. So
now, somehow, some way, whoever's run in the operation with an Imperial

(24:37):
Future, well, someone had toidentify this kid. I mean, if
if this kid, if my argumentis correct, and this kid just saw
it as an off kind of opportunity. This is not somebody who who went
to ten or twelve Trump rallies aroundthe country. This kid lives like two
or three towns over as it asit's subscribed to me. He doesn't live

(24:57):
in Butler Butt. He loops acup the town's over. So if they
if someone didn't identify him and basicallysay, look, kid, you know
here's here's we you can do something. Now. I don't think they told
him anything. Yep. I thinkthey just websites he was. He was
on the gun sites, he wason the explosive sites. And I think

(25:18):
the way that the CIA and allthis, I mean, I'm not trying
to make this a great conspiracy.I just think I just think so if
they just said, guess what, probably if we leave this I might try
to do something Yeah, if welead that roof ing guarded, the chances
are pretty good that this kid whowe know about is going to climb up
on that roof and take Trump out. That's that's not specifically. I just

(25:42):
think that, I mean, howcan you I know nothing about security,
I know nothing about the law.I know I'm about law enforcement. All
I know is if I looked atthat map, how could you not look
at that roof and be like, hey, uh maybe someone someone could get
up there and snipe this guy.Like it just seems so completely obvious.

(26:03):
And I agree with you on thatpoint. I agree with you. However,
I don't think I think it's it'softentimes what we ascribe to, uh
some conspiracies, and I know you'renot ascribing to a conspiracy, but it
almost becomes a matter of someone missedit. Someone just missed me, and

(26:32):
maybe maybe the local police. I'msure the Secret Service might say, look,
we established the perimeter. Then it'sup to the local police. But
I guarantee you the super the SecretService, like that's like a restaurant servant,
cater and cater and a vegetarian weddingand bringing a bunch of big macs.
I mean, that's all right, that's like the biggest, like myth

(26:52):
you can I have a scene inmy life of anything. I don't know.
I just and Trump is the onlyguys this mat Let me ask you
this. So now that President Trumpsurvived this, I can't believe it.
Can we just talk real quick? How close this this guy should be dead?
Dan, this guy, if hedidn't look to the right, he'd
be dead right now. Can youimagine what wouldn't be going on in this

(27:12):
country right now? No kidding? So my question is my question, this
question question. Okay, how tightdo you think the security is going to
be around Donald Trump going forward?Well, now, it's gotta be.
But I just, I mean, they've been trying to get this guy at
every which way. Of course thiswas going to happen. I always said,

(27:32):
I thought the first my first uhassassination of president that I would have
ever seen was Obama because I didn'tthink this country. I thought there were
still people in this country who didn'tthink a black man should be president.
But this guy is so against theestablishment of the way things work in that

(27:52):
world that I just, I don'tknow. I guess plenty of time to
maybe points I thank you. Let'ssee, let's see what happens with an
investigation. And I want to see. I want to see, Well,
what investigation have I watched out inthis country? I mean, that's just
a waste of money. Can Ijust ask the guy uh who always calls

(28:15):
any from Brockton and has a housein Alabama. I want to hear his
take on this. That guy isgreat. Okay, hold on, hold
on tomorrow, go to Nightside anddemand Tom was my second caller in the
eight o'clock eight o'clock hour, andyou can listening again, just just just
because no, no, no,no, no, no, no,
we don't we don't do like calls. We're going to dedicate this call to

(28:37):
Matt and Florida ladies and gentlemen. It's Tom from West Virginia. Thanks Matt.
Tell later, good night break.I need a break. Come on,
people, I'm looking for some peopleout there who might want to agree
with me. Uh. And maybeyou've never called the talk show before,
and maybe you feel that talk showsare the problem in this country. We're

(28:59):
not the problem. I'm offering andwe've been doing this for seventeen years.
I want as many different viewpoints aspossible. And I'm looking for some people
out there who say it is timeto take the temperature down. It's as
simple as that President Biden said itlast night. Look it to me,
it's axiomatic what we have to do. We got to cool our jets or

(29:21):
some real bad things are going tohappen which will have results. Yesterday or
Saturday, we were lucky. Sometimesit's better to be lucky than good,
but it's not often good to assumeyou can always be lucky. Back on
Nightside after this, Now back toDan ray Line from the Window World Nightside

(29:41):
Studios on WBZ News Radio. Allright, let's go to Susan and Cambridge
Susan next on Nightside, right ahead. Hey Dan, So, first off,
I of all people, am goingto agree with you tonight. Thank
you very much, appreciate it.I think it was incompetence on the part

(30:07):
of the Secret Service. But Iwant to point to something other than what
has been mentioned. As far asyou know, the shooter getting on that
roof. To my mind, thatphoto of Trump, you know, bloody
and the fists and everything never shouldhave happened because there is no way he
should have been allowed to pop upwith his head and to you know,

(30:33):
Torso exposed like that. I meanI know that they said that, you
know the shooter was down. Howdid they know there wasn't a second shooter?
Like that? Is just every timeI was struggling to get him off
the stage, and he's a fairlybig guy and he wanted to but they
shouldn't have allowed it. I mean, you go back, they just don't

(31:00):
let him up like I mean, okay, so you leave him on the
ground for what until everybody leaves. No, you you move him out,
but you cover him. You don'tallow his head and Torso to be exposed
like that. You have to havea body on him. And if you
look at like what happened when whenReagan was uh shot, I mean they

(31:22):
had him, he was down andthen in the car in like no time,
flat like he was shot probably nomore than six feet from the car,
right open to the car. Imean, you have to admit.
Go ahead, you just have toadmit that. I mean, he was
he was wide open for another shot. And so that's just I think an

(31:47):
egregious, egregious error. But Idon't kind of want to dwell on that,
but I did want to say Iagree with you on the incompetence factor.
And then just really quickly before Iget to my many point, I
just wanted to touch on the JayEvance thing and provides some context for when
I think it was Donna and Woosterwho read the his his tweet, you

(32:07):
know, blaming Biden. H reallyironic that he chose those words, because
before he became a Trump sycophant, back when he didn't like him, he
actually had said that that Trump wasAmerica's Hitler. So he did that was
that was a tweet that he's thathe said in twenty sixteen, eight years

(32:30):
ago. All right, But I'mjust saying I think he was I think
he was a law school student atthe time. He had served in the
Marines, and he changed his mind, and he has said that he has
that he that he was wrong. That's what he said. Okay. Never
Bobby, Bobby Kennedy had been thecouncil and biggest supporter of Joe McCarthy in

(32:54):
the US Senate in the nineteen fifties. I don't think Bobby Kennedy that we
that we came to know in thesixties was the same Bobby Kennedy as from
the nineteen fifties. Right, SoI'm just saying this guy is clearly a
loose cannon because he's doing the samegarbage today. And so when you when
you ask, you know, canwe lower the temperature and have some cibility?

(33:17):
Well, clearly not clearly not well, Susan, Susan, you cited
one instance, I mean a weeka week ago, a President Trump had
had referred to putting the bullseye onPresident Biden had referred to putting a bullseye
on Trump. Tonight with Lester Holt, he said, I wasn't talking about

(33:39):
cross here as I was talking aboutfocusing, which is fine. They all
get. They all use this languagethat's hyperbolic, and all I'm just saying
is let's cut it out. ButI'm just saying I have no hope for
it from from the likes of somebody. They like fans. Let's see,

(34:01):
let's see where Tony Donald Trump sitstonight. Okay, he said he's rewritten
his speech, He's going to becoming up here shortly. Let's see what
he see what he has to say. Let's you know who knows. I
mean, there was no greater uhA supportive of Jesus than Saint Paul.
He used to he's the person giveChristians and he got knocked off his horse

(34:22):
with a bolt of lightning on theroad to Damascus. If if I'm correct,
I'm not a biblical guy as youcall me. Okay, so who
knows? Who knows? I wantto get one more in here? Okay,
I hate to do this. Yougot to get one more in here.
I just wanted five minutes. Makeit in thirty seconds, and you

(34:44):
can now give it. Give itme thirty. My major point was that
I don't see this as political violence. I see this as gun violence.
This kid was a registered Republican. He fits the profile of all the other
mass shootings, you know, thetwenty something, you know, white loner,
and I think this is just thelogical result of a gun violence problem.

(35:05):
It's not a political violence. Healso made a contribution to a democratic
uh that was that's been debunked. It was somebody else, sixty nine years
old in Pittsburgh who made that contribution. He did not make it, okay,
if that's if that's accurate, Ihad not heard that debunking. Okay,
Thanks Susan, talk to you soon, okay, going take care all
right, Thank you much. Okay, we got I lean in how I

(35:30):
Leen, I've only got a coupleof minutes, but the president's about to
speak. I'm going to sneak inhere. We're going to get the other
two callers, a couple more callerson the other side. Your thoughts,
Eileen, Okay, I just wantedto say that I'm glad they shot this
guy dad who because uh, thethe person who who shot Ronald Reagan,

(35:58):
John Hankley, he was in apsychiatric hospital for years and years and years
much. I mean, they weretrying to get people out of psych hospitals.
Now he's out free, and Ithink that's I think that's wrong.
I think I think it would havebeen much better if he had been shot
dead at the at that time, and the same thing with the marathon bomber

(36:23):
in Boston. He's probably going toget out at some point. I think
he'll never get out. But Ithink what you're saying is, uh,
justin John should never John Hinckley shouldnever have gotten out, but he had.
All I'm saying is that I thinkthe argument you're making is that justice

(36:45):
delayed is justice denied, and thejustice that some of these guys deserve was
with the justice that that guy goton Saturday. Hyeah. Unfortunately, we
will never the authorities would never beable to investigate and talk to him and
find out if there was anyone elseinvolved in this. I don't think there

(37:06):
was, so I tend to befairly satisfied with the result that maybe that
sent maybe that provided a lesson toother would be shooters that if you go
and I think I'm glad he's deadand anybody else who tries to assassinate somebody
should be shot dead. I don'tthink we need any more John Hinckley's steps

(37:30):
free from psych hospitals. He nearlyhad President Reagan now, and they also
every once in a while every fiveyears they try to release see her and
see her, and hopefully he willnever be released either. I meant to
ten o'clock news, thank you muchto those of the line. We will

(37:52):
get to you right after the news. We are waiting to hear from President
Trump. So beer with me only, line open six and seven uh six
one seven nine three one ten thirtyback right after the ten o'clock news
