Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's Night Side with Dan Ray. I'm telling you Boston's
and Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
All right, Well, I think that the Scott Brown Johnson
who New Conversation has kind of run its course, and
we will hopefully talk to both of those candidates. We
also have calls out to Seth Moulton and Ed Markey
as well, because we want to cover these races. The
Moulten race is an interesting race and the Monkey races
because obviously you have a Democrat congressman, an incumbent going
(00:30):
up against an incumbent Democratic senator. So you have kind
of a different situation in New Hampshire. But those are
two Senate seats that are at stake. Look, there was
a story that came out late today. It came out
today at three to oh one. Now, whenever I do
a story like this, there's always the possibility that some
of you are going to say, I have no idea
(00:51):
what he's talking about. Wall Street Journal Lara Siegelman, Michael Gordon,
and Alexander Ward. I don't know those individuals, but I
think that the Wall Street Journal has a pretty good
reputation for accuracy. They report that the Trump administration has
(01:12):
lifted a key restriction on Ukraine's use of some long
range missiles provided by Western allies, enabling Kiev to step
up attacks on targets inside Russia and increase pressure on
the Kremlin. US officials said Wednesday, Ukraine used the British
supplied storm Shadow cruise missile on Tuesday to strike a
(01:34):
Russian plant in Bresnik that produced explosives in rocket fuel.
The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces announced on social
media and called the strike a successful hit that penetrated
Russian ear defenses. The unannounced US move to enable Kiev
to use the missile in Russia comes after authority for
(01:56):
supporting such attacks was recently transferred from Defense Secretary Pete
hesketh at Hegseth at the Pentagon to the top US
general in Europe, General alex Alexis Grinerwich, who also serves
as Native Commander. The shift coincided with a push in
(02:17):
early October by President Trump to pressure the Kremlin into
talks on ending the war, including the possibility of approve
sending KVUS made Tomahawk missiles, which have arranged more than
a thousand miles. Trump has backed off that proposal, however,
US officials said they expect Ukraine to conduct more cross
(02:38):
border attacks using the storm Shadow. This is a British
missile which is launched from Ukrainian aircraft and can travel
more than one hundred and eighty miles. The US can
restrict Ukraine's use of storm Shadow because the missiles use
American targeting data. So basically, this Wall Street Journal article
(03:01):
is implying that things are changing. In a statement, a
White House officials said, this is a war that never
would have happened had President Trump been president, something President
Putin himself acknowledged, and President Trump is trying to get
it stopped. The president also negotiated a historic agreement to
allow NATO allies to purchase American made weapons. The Pentagon
(03:24):
didn't respond to requests for comments. Ukraine's General staff didn't
immediately reply to a request for comment. Ukraine's renewed use
of storm Shadows isn't a game changer on the battlefield.
They have a far shorter range than US Tomahawks and
have been used to strike targets in Russia before, but
the missiles do enable Kiev to expand its attacks inside Russia.
(03:45):
Former President Joe Biden approved Ukraine's use of storm Shadow
and missiles known as ada coms against targets inside Russia
toward the end of his administration, but after Trump came
into office, the Pentagon set up a review procedure for
approving cross border strikes using US missiles, missiles or those
from other countries, including storm Shadow, that rely on US
(04:07):
targeting data. So where this is leading me, okay, is
are we on the verge of are we on the
verge of changing our attitude towards Russia and Ukraine? The
(04:28):
President last week had expressed an interest in having a
second meeting with Vitamin Putin in Budapest, Hungary, but apparently
that has now been called off. If it was ever scheduled,
Trump yesterday says such a meeting would have been a
(04:49):
waste of time. I think Trump would have liked it.
The decision to lift the restriction on storm Shadow occurred
before Ukrainian press and Zelensky met with Trump at the
White House last week. According to a person with knowledge
of the discussion, Zelensky was seeking tomahawks, which would greatly
expand Kiev's long range striking power. That you know, if
(05:11):
the British missiles can go one hundred and eighty miles
tomahawks can go five times that length. Trump had rebuffed
the request that limited the West negotiating leverage with Moscow.
Analyst said, the US recently approved selling Ukraine thirty three
(05:34):
hundred and fifty extended range attack munitions EAR launch missiles
that can travel up to one hundred and fifty to
two hundred and thirty. So, so this war is heating
up a little bit here. And the issue is the
Trump administration is emphasizing that they have not that he
(05:55):
would rather end the war than send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
So my question is are we moving closer, in your
mind to more of a confrontation with Russia than we
might ever have imagined, Because obviously Russia played Trump in Alaska.
(06:17):
Nothing came out of that meeting on August fifteenth. It's
now two months later. Russia's still pounding Ukraine. If you're
Donald Trump, how long do you hold off giving tomahawks
to Ukraine. He's using that with leverage with with Putin,
(06:37):
but Putin seems to not be responding to it. Let
me get Alex in here. He was holding through the news.
Alex you can talk about this, so you can talk
about Scott Brown and John Snunu, whichever you prefer.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Go right ahead, Alex, Oh, I'll put in my two
cents out for actually Scott Brown when I i'm a
supporter of them. About two thousand and eleven and I
met Scott Brown and his wife, Gail Huffs. She was
a reporter for the wcvb uh and my son was
(07:10):
just uh, he was around two years old, and he
came over. But he was so so gracious and everything,
and actually they treated us to ice cream and we
were good to know.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
It's good. It's good to know, Alex. Nothing is gonna
win someone's vote other than what type of ice cream
was it?
Speaker 3 (07:32):
What was the flavor, Alex, I think it was vanilla
and chocolate.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Oh yeah, that's that's the Scott Brown vote for sure.
Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
But they say, you know, with with babies and pets,
you get a lot of love, so you know, it's
it's amazing, and you're talking about the other topic. I think, uh,
you know, it's escalating, so it's like adding fuel to
the fire. I don't know, you know, if it's gonna
(08:08):
you know, cause cause of big escalation or but I
think it's not gonna You're not going to see peace
over there.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
No, I don't. I don't, I don't think so. But
but something has to be done, I think. And I'm
not in favor of going to war with Russia. I'm
not in favor of nuclear war. I want you to
know that I am opposed to nuclear war. I don't
want to start a nuclear war. I don't want to
get involved in a nuclear war. But uh, and I
think most people feel that way. But I think Trump
(08:41):
actually has handled the Ukraine situation, a situation that he
inherited pretty well under the circumstances. I know a lot
of people were freaked out when he was elected, but
I think up until this moment in time could change tomorrow.
I think up until this moment in time, Uh, he
has basically tried to exist some pressure boot and he
tried to be the nice guy in Alaska and that
(09:04):
didn't work. And now he's getting a little tougher with him.
So we'll see. Alex, thank you much for holding on
and expressing your opinion. As always, Thank you has always.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Okay, could I ask about the remodeling that mister Trump
is doing at the White House? Are you in favor
of that?
Speaker 2 (09:20):
I have no idea. I have no opinion on that.
It seems to me to be a little much. To
be really honest with you, I think that he had
indicated there wasn't going to be much of an impact
on the current building to basically create this grand ballroom.
But from the pictures I watched on TV tonight, it
looks to me like it's a lot of work. A
(09:43):
lot of work. Again, I know that it's being paid
for by private funds and all of that, and he's
a construction guy, but I don't know. It looked to
me like they're they're doing a lot of ripping down
on the back of the White House. As far as
I'm concerned, that's a didn't look too pretty, that's for sure.
(10:05):
Thanks Alex, talk to you soon. Good night. Six one
seven four ten thirty six one seven nine three one
ten thirty. I think on foreign affairs, Trump is a
pretty good report card right now, and I'm more comfortable
with him dealing with Putin than I was with Biden.
And I think that he is unpredictable enough that Putin
(10:27):
is a little a little leery of him. But I'd
love to know what you think, uh, and what sort
of a grade would you give him on the Russia
Ukraine war, and it is a war. I watched some
video tonight and the Russians are relentless and this this
has got to the point where it's it's no longer
(10:51):
a fair fight. That Russia is showing itself to be
exactly what Ronald Reagan said and evil empire. It's not
the Russian people, but it's the Russian leadership. And I
think between Putin and Lavrov, they are not good people
under any circumstances. Back on Night's side, I got a
(11:13):
bunch of lines six one, seven thirty, got a couple
there in a couple at six one, seven, nine three, one,
ten thirty. We've backed off of the Brown Scotson Scott
Brown Johnsonuno face off in New Hampshire. I think that's
a historic battle. Interesting, very interesting politically. We did an
hour on it. I want to talk about how does
(11:34):
the how does Donald Trump get Vladimir Putin to do
the right thing visa v Ukraine, And of course Zelensky
doesn't want to give up any land, but the longer
it goes, I think unfortunately Ukraine in order to get
a piece, they're going to have to allow some of
(11:55):
that area of Ukraine in the in the east, which
tends to have a large element of Russian families or
families who have alliance with Russia or relations with Russia. Uh,
it's you never want to reward an aggressor. But I
(12:18):
don't see how I don't see how this ends with
Russia retreating. Have some have some armchair quarterbacking time, folks
join the conversation. This is a quick break back.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Right after this, it's night Side Withst's News Radio.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Okay, back to the phone, you go. Steve is in Animborough.
Steve next on Nightside. Go ahead.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Dan. Great to hear your voice again, and thank you
as always for taking my call.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
You're very welcome, Thank you for joining us. We're looking
for callers tonight on h We've kind of moved around
on topics here, which I try to do and sometimes
it works well and sometimes it is not as it
doesn't work as well. So thanks for calling. What's whis?
Which topic are you you're looking to talk about it?
I hope it's some Russia Ukraine?
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Yeah, And you're a great MC regardless, and my thing
is with the whole Russia thing is I agree with you.
First of all, I'm not a advocator of nuclear war
at all, either in any in any shape or form.
But I applaud Trump in a way for uh, you know,
(13:30):
sort of getting the United States out of this conflict directly,
like when we were sending weaponry over to Voladimir Zalynski,
who I don't like either, and I don't like uh
Vladimir Putin either, But now he's basically saying, Okay, well,
(13:51):
if we're gonna, if we're gonna do anything, we'll give
it to NATO or we'll give it to Britain or whatever.
And then so he's basically trying to keep the United
States directly out of it and like Europe and NATO
deal with it, which is sensible. But now that things
are heating up, if things don't look too good for
Great Britain or other European countries, because now NATO is
(14:15):
directly involved, like now they're scrambling jets now, and if
Great Britain gets involved, then unfortunately, you know, and Putin
has made it perfectly clear through his uh subordinates or
his co workers or whatever you want to call them
in the department over there.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Let's call them we can we can use the word
we can call them his Operachisch. We're totally loyal to
Putin and will do whatever Putin says right.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
And the thing is if those missiles from Great Britain
or for whatever that you were talking about earlier, that
are like tomahawks and atticums and whatever, if they do
use them, then Putin will see that as a direct
attack from NATO. And I you know, I Dan, whatever
(15:06):
way you look at it, it just looks like, as
you very carefully tried to avoid saying, you know, we
could very well be on the verge of World War three.
And my thing is if that does happen and then
Russia decides to start attacking NATO countries that issue those
(15:31):
missiles that struck deep into Russia, what do we do.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
I mean, well, if Russia attacks, well, we're a signatory
to NATO. So if Russia attacks NATO countries. That's why
they were freaked out a couple of weeks ago with
Russian planes violating airspace of Poland and also I think
it was Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia, the so called Baltic States.
(15:57):
An attack upon one is considered an attack of on all.
And although we're not in Europe, we remember the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO. You know, it could get kind
of dicey. I want to see Putin talking to Trump.
I think that they are kindred spirits in many ways,
and I think that war starts when the conversation stopped.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I agree. But Trump has tried to speak to Putin
and set meetings up, and how everything looks great. I
feel great about this deal. And then a day later
Putin attacks Ukraine again.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Well, I noticed right after August fifteenth, once a Putin
had left Alaska and gone home and President Trump was
back in Washington, d C. Russia resumed the bombardment immediately
of Ukraine, as opposed to when Trump hit the Iranian
(16:59):
nuclear facility. You you haven't seen heard a peep out
of of Iran since. And that tells me that we
were very successful. And President Trump was very successful with
that raid. Uh. And and I believe that that, if anything,
that should should ward him the Nobel Peace Prize. I
(17:20):
know people go say, well, that's crazy, uh, you know
dan this stuff. Well I know that, but but he
took a nuclear player, a nuclear power, off the world stage.
I think there are now eight nuclear powers left, and
I would like it if the United States was the
(17:40):
only nuclear power. But unfortunately that genie is out of
the out of the proverbial bottle. As I'm sure most
people would understand.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
I don't know what to tell you this day, but uh,
things keep on going the way they're going.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
I hope it doesn't happen, but you know, we may
wind up seeing some mushrooms sprouting very certain placed.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Well, I think it's more likely that if I had
to guess, and I am guessing, I think Putin is
smart enough to know he does not want to engage
with us. But could he use a tactical nuke somewhere
in Ukraine? I could see him doing I could see
him being crazy enough to do something like that, and
(18:27):
that would change a lot things a lot, but it
would not plunge US into nuclear war. So at least
that's my thought. I know there are others out there
who either think the same or think differently. I think
we're reaching a point here where President Trump's running out
of options now He's I guess they threw some sanctions
(18:48):
today on Russian oil companies, and if they could break
Russia here economically, great, But what if they can't. Oil
prices are down across the world now, and that's gonna
hurt Russia as well. And that's besides gas being cheaper
for all of us. That hurts. That hurts Russia's economy.
(19:08):
So it's complicated. But I hope to hear from some
of my callers on the the other side of the news.
And Steve, I got to thank you so much for
joining us as always and keep calling the program, and.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Thank you for being around, and thank you for being
around and being I see you are.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Right back at you see. Thank you again. We'll talk soon.
All right, I have wide open lines, which is terrifying
to me. Okay, I know that I have talked about
some different subjects tonight from Cambridge UH and UH an
increase in commercial real estate taxes. There you folks responded
to that pretty well.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
UH.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
And the last hour we talked about the re emergence
of John Sanunu, former Republican senator, to run against Scott
Brown and the Republican primary next year for the right
to run and seek the seat that is being vacated
by former New Hampshire governor and soon to be former
(20:09):
uhimpsh US Senator Jean Shaheen. And we have more walked
over and touched upon what's going on in Ukraine. Uh,
and between President Trump and and President Selenski and President Putin.
I would love to have you join us six one seven,
(20:31):
ten thirty six one seven, nine, ten thirty back right
after the nine, right after the news here at eleven thirty. Uh.
I want to see these lines lit up, or will
do something else. I can't believe that a conversation about
the potential nuclear war and how much do you trust
Donald Trump doesn't doesn't interest some of you to call.
(20:54):
We'll be back on night Side.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
It's night Side, Boston's news radio.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
All right, you folks are not interested in Ukraine and Russia.
That's fine, That is fine. I'm going to go open lines,
and I want you to tell me what is the
subjects that you would like to talk about, because we
have we have touched on a variety of topics tonight. Uh.
(21:25):
That's what we're interested in doing. As I've said to
all of you, the formula for success of Nightside is
good topics, good guests and callers. Uh and UH. I
am not going to sit here and just preach to
you or speak to you. I want to engage with you,
(21:45):
and whether you agree with me or disagree with me,
we can have some conversation. Uh. And I'm going to
give you an opportunity. If you don't want to talk
about Ukraine, you can talk about any subject you want.
Bring it up, bring it on. We're coming back, We're
gonna I'm gonna talk to John who's waiting to talk
to me. And if you want to continue to talk
about Ukraine and Russia, fine, If you want to go
(22:08):
open lines any topic you would like, tell me what
to interest you coming back one night, said let me
go to John in New York. Hey, John, welcome back.
How are you, sir?
Speaker 5 (22:18):
Hey, I'm fine, Dan. I just turned the radio on.
I left work late and I heard you saying that
all the lines from rope and you know, so I
hit the button for the first time in my life,
like I connected, like right away.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Well that's that's that's what's going on tonight. And I
have no idea. I think that the topics that I
have chosen tonight are not of interest in my audience.
And if they're not interested in talking about Ukraine and Russia.
And I try to give people some perspective, but my
perspective and I hope to hear their perspective. But no,
(22:54):
that's I can't dial the phone for anybody. So what's
your thought on Ukraine Russia?
Speaker 5 (23:02):
Uh? I wish you would be over, to be honest
with you, You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Right, so that I think everybody reads me then that
So the question is how do you make it over? What?
What can we do? We could push Russia, we could
put pressure on Russia. So far, President Trump has tried
to be the nice guy up in Alaska. That didn't work.
I guess he had some phone call in to our
phone conversation with Putin, I believe on Monday, in which
(23:30):
he asked him, uh, something like, how would you feel
if I gave three thousand Tomahawk missiles to to Zelenski?
And I guess Putin, you know, he was hoping to
give Putin a message there and uh, and Putin, I
guess it said well, yeah, no, I mean I he
knew what the answer was gonna be. But that would
(23:53):
be a dangerous step for President Trump, and I'm glad
that he recognized it.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
Yeah, you know, I think what it's gonna come down
to is Trump being the businessman and dealing type guy.
Is he's gonna have to really see what economically, what
kind of deal between the countries that has to be made,
and that's probably gonna be the solution, but it's going
to be very difficult to figure out.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Well, I'll tell you, I think you just hit the
You just hit the nail on the head. You hit
a home run as far as I'm concerned, because with
Donald Trump, and what the Left doesn't understand is Donald
Trump is a businessman before he's a politician. Uh he is.
He is looking to convince people that through economics, we
all can live better and we all can live more
(24:43):
happily if we live at peace and and we then
turn our thoughts away from weaponry but towards building casinos
and resorts and living the good life. That's what That's
what he sold to the Arab leaders of the Middle East,
and I think that they are finally coming around and saying, hey,
(25:06):
Israel is a pretty nice country. They've done a lot
of good things. We might disagree with them religiously, but
we can work with him economically. And that's what he's
trying to do. And he may be trying to do
that with Russia, with Putin and Zelensky as well.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
Yeah, you know, I think also too, like with the
Middle East business going on and stuff that I think
these private arrangements and meetings they have and the deals
that are cut, I think we only know like part
of it because people would be up in arms if
they knew the whole thing, like, oh, it's going to
(25:40):
cost America this and that. But sowhat money is money,
all right, the certain dollars. It's gonna cost us to
put an end to this, and we don't have people
losing lies and spending the money on all the military stuff.
It's gonna cost you financially more in the future.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Well, there is part of that. Remember the Obama administration
said a lot of cash to the Mullas in Iran
back in twenty fifteen twenty sixteen when they were trying
to have the J six deal, which which would stop
Iran from you know, developing nuclear weapons. But Iran took
(26:19):
the money and ran and they still continue to develop
nuclear weapons and the only thing stopped him were the
stealth bombers that President Trump dispatched over Iran. So, you know,
money can hell can get you a lot. But sometimes
there's people who are going to follow through in their work.
Go ahead.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
I think that just canning these people money isn't always
a solution. You got to make a deal that there's
some kind of trading and profit involved, the selling stuff
back and forth, that there's big dollars involved. It gets
their riches, you know what I mean? Just canning the
money too?
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Agree? You know, absolutely no question about that. Hey, John,
I got to keep keep rowling here. Thank you, buddy.
I appreciate you taking the time to call. You know that.
Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
Hey, you welcome the finger. You see all your lines
lighting up? Now are people calling?
Speaker 2 (27:10):
They're still pretty slow, John, so we'll see if they
want to respond to what I want to make.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
I want to make one comment to all the listeners
that are on this program listening right now, Sure don't
be shy pick up the phone. I know how it is.
I had to experience myself. You're kind of shy getting
on the phone, being on the radio. Just do once,
you do it once, you'll be calling back. Dan is
a wonderful host. He has a lot of interesting things
(27:36):
in conversation about things. You really love calling in. And
I'm going to say good night, Dan, and good luck.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Thanks John. Appreciate you calling very much. John is a
great fellow and uh in the s connect any New
York area. So yeah, the lines are there six one, seven, two, five,
four ten, thirty six, one seven nine. If you want
to offer an opinion on Ukraine Russia, I mean, I know,
it seems like it's away, but it could get real close,
real quickly. And I have more confidence in Donald Trump
(28:07):
handling this than I would have had with Joe Biden.
I think that he's maneuvered the situation in the Middle
East better than any president before him. And I think
that Putin has a fair amount of respect for him,
maybe even a fair amount of fear, which is not
necessarily a bad thing. Let me go to Carol and Randolph. Hey, Carol,
(28:28):
thank you for calling in. You're next on Nightside. Carol.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
Oh, it's so nice to talk to you. Dan, and
I completely agree with you. I think Trump went over
there into the Middle East and said, look, doesn't this
could be beautiful, It could be awesome.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
It's right on the Mediterranean. I noticed some pictures somewhere
today of what Turkey is calling the Turkish Mediterranean. I
guess they have some land that abuts the Mediterranean why not. Okay,
I've never been to the Middle East, but you see
those cities like you know, Abu Dhabi and all of that,
(29:06):
and the city state or whatever it is, the United
Arab Emirates.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
It looked like tag By did I mean, I mean,
my god hunter, I mean he's a businessman, and I
think he rastled dazzled them, which is what he does,
and said, come on, guys, you're missing out on a
whole lot of money you should have.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
I forget what country we're talking about or what city
we're talking about, but in one of those Middle East
and communities where it's like ninety to one hundred degrees,
they have an indoor skiing, ski paths, a ski jump. Yeah.
I mean, first of all, I don't know how anybody
in the Middle East would ever know how to ski
(29:50):
because there's no mountains there, there's no snowstorms. But look,
if it works, it works. It's better than going to
war with people.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
I mean, it's like, come on, stop fighting. You guys
could all be rich if you just stop fighting.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Well, of course, there's a lot of people and.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
They're saying, oh my god, this guy's got the magic
and I don't have it.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Anymore.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Well, you know, there's there's a lot of people in
the Arab countries now because they had great oil and
all of that, they've done very well for themselves. And
Israel has done very well for themselves. The only group
over there who really has gotten the short end of
the stick of the Palestinians. And I think I want
to blame Hamas for that more than anything. I know
that everybody. Some people will say, no, it's Israel, No,
(30:38):
it's Hamas. Hamas was the one that built tunnels under
their schools and build tunnels under their hospitals.
Speaker 6 (30:44):
Well, there are always going to be the people that
are altra terrorists that never are going to accept civilization.
I mean, that's just the way it is.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah. And there's also, you know, a a millennium long
hatred amongst some groups of Jewish people because they look
upon Jewish people as more successful than they are. And
why are they successful? Why were they able to come
here in nineteen forty eight and turn a good portion
(31:16):
of land that is really nothing more than sand into
this beautiful, buntyful country.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
Yeah, that's probably you know you mentioned earlier when it
changed the subject, and all I wanted to say is
we're getting up to the holiday season and I am
just hoping that all families can just put this aside.
I am so sick of the divide.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
I am too, but I don't think it's possible. I
really don't. I remember when this all started back in
our twenty twenty and Trump was running for reelection, and
well even before that, when Hillary was running against President
Trump in twenty sixteen, and I used to joke about it,
and I used to say, Hey, show up your dinner
and where your Trump button and where your Hillary hat?
(32:03):
You know, the straw of Martha's Venue type hats. And
I thought that that would break down the barriers. Well,
I think it made it worse. And I'm like you,
I there were so many families in this country divide,
and they continue to be divided. Look at what's going
on in the streets between Ice and people over there.
Ice is there trying to throw people who are here
(32:24):
illegally and who have committed crimes, in many cases serious crimes.
And you've got Americans who are putting themselves in jeopardy
of being arrested.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
This is no It's outrageous.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Carol. I love your calls. Thank you, so much for
being such a supporter of Nightside. We will talk again soon. Okay,
thank you so much.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
Oh thanks so much, San, take care bike.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Alrighty got wide open lines. My challenge is here's the
number six one seven, two, four, ten thirty six one
seven nine, ten thirty. I maybe picked bad topics tonight.
I'll pick better topics tonight. I'll try. I thought the
Scott Brown Johnson new topic is a really good topic.
(33:06):
We will get to the Ed Markey Seth Molten topic.
There's no doubt about that. So I'm giving you every
opportunity between now and midnight. We got about ten minutes
open line six one seven, two, five, four ten thirty
six one seven nine. Pick up the phone, give us
a call. Coming back after this.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
You're on night Side with Dan Ray. I'm Boston's news radio.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Well, my audience, well god, let's go Rick and Bill.
Rick and Rick appreciate you calling in. You next Nightside?
Speaker 7 (33:37):
Sure, Dan, how are you?
Speaker 2 (33:39):
I'm doing great? Rick, Thanks for checking in. What's on
your mind tonight?
Speaker 8 (33:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (33:42):
Oh no, we can talk about Russia quickly.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
You know.
Speaker 7 (33:45):
It's it's such a it's so depressing. It just seems
to me it's like trying to get an addict to quit.
You try, and then you're telling them I'm praying for you,
I'm doing all this and I just want you to stop.
Until they're ready, Yeah, they don't, they don't get help,
And until he's ready to stop. Until put stopped is
(34:07):
ready to stop hating Ukraine, He's going to continue unless
someone can distract, unless unless Trump could distract him into
doing something different that's better than hating. I hope he does.
I mean, there is hope, but uh well, there's.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Always got to always have hope. I was hopeful a
couple of years ago when there were rumors that that
that his health was failing badly, and that actually there
was some suggestion that he might have been dealing with
a terminal disease. He was not showing up at meetings
and he didn't look well. He seems to have recovered.
I would assume a CIA must know at this point
(34:42):
what he dealt with and what he did to resolve it.
But I thought that maybe if he was, you know,
facing the end, he might have thought to himself, g
maybe I got to do the right thing. I don't know.
I think Putin's going to be a got to bring
her out Rick much. I appreciate you calling tonight, I
(35:03):
get three more folks again.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
Absolutely, no, I'll catch you again some Thanks.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
I'm checking more often. Thanks Rick, talking to you soon now.
Daryl is up in New Brunswick. Darryl once again, How
are you, sir?
Speaker 8 (35:15):
I'm doing pretty good, just making some meatballs, put on
a barbecue.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
So you're barbecuing you this hour? Or is that for tomorrow?
Speaker 8 (35:23):
No, it's I keep late hours, so I guess you do.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
I'll go in Brunswick tonight.
Speaker 8 (35:31):
It's about fifty tonight.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Fifty fahrenheit or centigrade fahrenheit. Right, yeah, okay, that's not bad.
It's kind of close to what we have.
Speaker 8 (35:44):
Yeah, but I was calling to say that I backed
Ukraine one hundred percent, and uh, it's Russia is actually
taking manpower and weapons from North Korea and China and
they're saying that people can't even just with providing weapons
for Ukraine, right, yep, Well, we got to.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Be careful who we're dealing with there. You know, we
want to prod the bear to do the right thing,
but we don't want to poke the bear.
Speaker 8 (36:13):
You know what I'm saying exactly, And Finland remembers that
from eighty years ago, and they're still on guard.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
So yes they are. Yes, they are now finally a
member of NATO, which is good, which is good for Finland.
That has not made Putin happy either, But.
Speaker 8 (36:28):
Oh no, I'll tell you a Blue Jays story coming
up here next week.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
So I'd love to see you blue Jays win. Obviously,
it would be great for Canada, be great for baseball
in Canada. Darryl, thank you, my man. I got to
I gotta scoot here because they got a couple more
folks waiting in line, so let me get them in here. Okay,
Thanks Daryl, good night, good night. Let me go real quickly.
Steve in Freeport, but he's probably on the road, Steve.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
How you doing, buddy, No, no, no, I'm getting dressed
park closed on.
Speaker 9 (36:58):
I got my WVZ T shirt and my uniform.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Now we're talking. Yeah, so that's a nice side T
shirt right.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
My wife, she's such a good listener.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
She knew I talked about the show and she went
out and bought that shirt last year.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
She said, did that for you?
Speaker 7 (37:15):
Who?
Speaker 3 (37:15):
My wife?
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Oh my goodness, wow, what that's a that's a very
thoughtful spouse. Yes she is.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
She's very loving and thoughtful.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
So how long? How far are you driving tonight? Steve?
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Only two hundred and thirty miles? I did four hundred yesterday.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Well, you know, just be careful, stay awake.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Uh again, We'll love we will talk. We will talk soon.
Thanks for checking in tonight. I've got a Marie.
Speaker 8 (37:39):

either of you in months. How are you doing? Okay?
Speaker 9 (37:59):
Oh, that's because we've been crisscrossing the country from New
Mexico to Massachusetts. My son is newly engaged and so
we're planning a wedding. And I had a class reunion
my fiftieth and that's that's what's been going on.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
You've been doing on the road, Well, you've been busy,
so I expect that you and your husband will call
a little bit more often in the in the weeks
