Attorney General Andrea Campbell with some strong words for the
Trump administration, saying it continues to evade responsibility to feed people.
This after the Department of Agriculture updated its guidance when
it comes to SNAP eligibility.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
The guidance is inaccurate and it's illegal.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
That's why Campbell is joining twenty one other attorneys general
and suing to stop the federal government from cutting off
SNAP benefits for thousands of lawful permanent residents.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Federal law is specific and says that refugees, assilies, humanitarian parolis,
and other vulnerable legal immigrants are eligible for SNAP benefits
as soon as they obtain their green cards and meet
standard program requirements.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
She went on to say the administration doesn't have the
power to rewrite these rules just because they don't like them.
The new guidance also calls for fines for states that
