Avg. Rent Costs In Boston Drops For The First Time In Years

The cost of living in Boston can feel suffocating if
you're a renter. Just take it from Annie.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's kind of disheartening because I'm so inspired by the
city of Boston, so I want to be a part
of it, and the financial atmosphere kind of makes me
feel less included.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
She's here with her mom, who used to rent an
apartment in Alston with five people for eleven hundred dollars
back in nineteen ninety.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
I've looked it up. It's twite more than twice that.
It's like three times that, and it's like, oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
But hope could be on the horizon for renters in
the city. A new Bloomberg report finds that the average
rent in Boston has dropped for the first time since
twenty twenty one. The average rent is still just over
three thousand dollars, but any drop is good news for
these renters.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
That does give me hope. I'd be interested to see
if it affects me eventually.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I'm about to graduate this May, so that would actually
be pretty nice if the rent did go down. So
I guess we're gonna have to see.
