Belmont-Based Conservation Fund Working To Protect Rock Meadow

There aren't many places like Rock Meadow inside one twenty
eight wide open fields teeming with grass and butterflies. But
for the right price, this could all go away.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It is a special property and it's unprotected.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
The town owns this land, but there's no guarantee it'll
stay like this. That's why local Roger Ruble and the
Judy Record Fund are trying to preserve all these acres
with a conservation restriction that would prevent development here. There's
already been a couple attempts to build.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
One of those was to turn it into playing fields,
and the other one was to take part of it
and make it into a dog park.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
The fund says it'll create an endowment worth two hundred
grand half from the town and use that as a
