Boat Sculpture To Be Burned On Boston's City Hall Plaza

Adela Goldbard is an artist from Mexico City who was
commissioned as part of the Boston Public Art Triennial to
create this ship made out of reeds. It just arrived
on City Hall Plaza. You made a boat out of reeds.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yes, that is correct, And this boat is actually going
to be burnt as an effigy.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
This colonial galleon, this boat of reeds, twenty four and
a half feet long, twenty four and a half feet high,
is going to be burned. It's part of a pyrotechnic
display a week from Friday night, right on City Hall Plaza.
Is this risky?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
This is not risky. The pyrotechnician that we hired for
this project, he is very professional. He has worked other
times in different projects in the Boston area, so he
knows everything about regulations. We have all the permits in place,
and we also protect the City Hall Plaza so that
it doesn't get damaged during the performance.
