Boston Public Library Kicks Off Winter Reading Challenge

Folks at the Boston Public Library are creating their reading
logs for the annual BPL Winter Reading Challenge. Veronica Covid
Madison is the BPL's Reader Service as supervisor, and she
says the challenge sees people read books from different continents
and regions around the world.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
We really hope that by trying authors from different regions,
we really open our eyes to new perspectives, like global perspectives,
and maybe find something that we didn't know before.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Each branch has a map that they'll fill out with
where the books people read are from. Folks taking part
also get a collector's pin. THEO is here with their
tote bag. They gone from the Summer Reading Challenge and
they can't wait to do the Winter one. As someone
who always tells themselves they're going to read more in
the new year and then fails, I asked THEO for
some advice on how to keep it up. THEO says,
to not push yourself too hard.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I do think that like graphic novels or novellas or
shorter things that you can pick up really easily, or
maybe like finding a genre that you used to love
and would like to come back to. Finding a way
to pace.
