Boston Unity Cup Celebrates Diversity Ahead of World Cup

I'm sitting pitchside for a matchup between Team Portugal and
Team Brazil and no, I haven't jumped in a time
machine to the twenty twenty six World Cup. It's the
sixth annual Boston Unity Cup, a World Cup style seven
on seven tournament that brings together forty men's and women's
teams with players from Boston representing different countries. Caroline Foscato
helped found the event. She says her favorite moments are
seeing the bonds created between different communities on and off

the pitch.

Those moments on the field where you see like Uganda
and Pakistan hugging at the end of a game, right,
you see people laughing. You hear about people playing pick
up with each other because they met here.

City Council president See Louis jen says it's a fitting
choice to use the beautiful game to bring people together.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Soccer helps to explain the world, and it's beautiful to
see countries everyone from Argentina to Haiti, where my parents
are from, from Guinea to Mexico to Cuba. There are
people who are able to continue a sport that they
played at home, or learn a sport that reminds them
of their culture.

And teams will play each week, leaning up to a
